I have some things to say about the ACOTAR show. 1. I am scared it won’t be well produced because Hulu doesn’t have the kind of budget other streaming services have.
2. I AM GOIN G TO HAVE TO WATCH TAMPON AND MY HIGH LADY FEYRE GET IT ON AND JUST SUFFER

I don't know if you've heard of her, but what do you think of Gina Vaia to play Nesta?? She is a model who has been quoted for the role... She has my heart ❤️🌹
I think she has the Nesta look, I'm NGL. My main hope for Nesta is that whoever plays her understands her character and connects with her deeply, so that we get that wonderful Nesta bite but also a hint that under the surface far more is playing out. TBH, given Sarah's love for Nesta, I think this is something she'll really press in the script, so I'm confident we'll get that.
We have to hope that they cast Cassian right and that the chemistry between Nessian is spot on. That sexual tension in the first four books KILLED me.

also i hope u all know the casting will be trash
the entire POINT is that they're fae, who are...lethally more beautiful and cunning than humans...and use that to their advantage...and are out of this world...and are going to be played by human actors...are you seeing the problem here 🤨

the acotar tv adaptation should be an animation. you can't change my mind

acotar stans are annoying and lack critical thought now, i can't imagine how bad it's gonna be when they don't even have to read

I’m really hoping they’ll call out the problematic parts rather then cut them out. Goes to show that even Rhys isn’t perfect and that he grows and learns from his mistakes, at least I hope that’s the way they’d handle it. Also I’m hoping they’ll dive deeper into Rhys being sexually assaulted cause it’s kinda powerful to have a male main character who’s been through this and is usually seen as “invincible”. It would be great to point out that this can happen to anyone and maybe even address this when he and feyre start having sex. I was super surprised he was just able to have sex like nothing ever happened so it’d be great I’d they addressed this further
That's a good point! Removing some of the questionable things that Rhys did would make people even more likely to view him as the Founding Father of Feminism. I suppose my own squicks don't mean that the characters shouldn't be shown in a less than positive light.
Your comment and the other one that someone sent about the show made me think about the difference between something being a problem in-world, and being problematic to the reader because of the broader real-world context.
Nehemia being killed to further Aelin's story = objectively problematic because it continues a long tradition of characters of color (and women) being killed off to fuel white pain and/or storylines. That'd be something I would like to change in a ToG show.
However, Tamlin being abusive to Feyre, while a big problem for her, is not necessarily a problem for the reader? Like it's not as if people are going to read that and think "ah yes, this is how I hope my future marriage goes". And it's not furthering any other issues in society by perpetuating that type of story without critique.
I guess the tl;dr is that I hope the actual problematic things that get changed are things like how the Illyrians are portrayed. But not the actions of the characters. If that makes sense!

Oh yes I’ve been thinking the same thing about how shadow and bone showed Mals perspective which made everyone understand and like him, and how I hope the acotar series applies this too. I think potentially you could make nesta, tamlin, feyre and Rhys so much more three dimensional with this. Also I hope they’ll cut out or call out the problematic parts
The potential of seeing acotar from outside of Feyre's perspective 😭
I'm super curious if they would do it dual-POV, like I think that acomaf was originally going to be but then it would have been less impactful when Feyre learns more about the NC and Rhys? I may be hallucinating that but I swear that sjm at some point wrote a lot of acomaf from Rhys's perspective, and I think that would be so... I need it. I really need it. Probably someone has written the fic already, but to see all the political machinations that Feyre had no clue about, the history between Rhys and Tamlin, etc. It would be so much more satisfying to watch that, rather than hear Tamlin tell Feyre and then hear Rhys tell Feyre. SHOW US.

I'm completely out of my lane here as an Aussie but Ethan Browne from Home and Away would make a killer Rhysand or Cassian in the ACOTAR TV adaptation
He's a NIDA graduate (the best acting school in Aus)
He's Maori (which would lend to the darker skin tones of the Illyrians)
He's an absolute snacc
He does ego and cocky really well
Plus he's got swagger and the "hot guy" attitude

ACOTAR series *sigh*
This fandom used to be so fun but now ive seen people destroying that fun by being toxic and ruining the good name of this fandom.
You can criticise the series all you want because it doesn't match with the book yadayada, but never go after the actors or anything like that, it is already a difficult thing to adapt a book series to a tv show that is going to please everyone, so please sarah j maas fandom lets not ruin this.
Looking forward to the series and lets hope by the cauldron that nobody will ruin this.

Still not over the fact that when acotar comes on tv, the people who haven't read the books are going to hate Rhysand and ship Feyre and Tamlin.

So were we thinking that there was still a chan e the acotrash series wouldnt end up being made? Bc mess announced they’re moving to LA specifically to work on the show (in the latest ig live with steph). Seems like it’s a guaranteed deal that the series will happen (Jesus save us all from that)
hadn’t she just moved away from LA? what a strange move. i can’t imagine why she’d need to be there bc it’s not like she’s gonna be acting in it. oddly enough, though, i’m not nearly as bothered by it as i used to be pre-S&B. sj///m is a hack who clings to her popularity tooth and nail and at this point it’s just embarrassing on her behalf to witness.

TL;DR: GWYN IS NOT A CHILD. SJM CONFIRMED.

So I’m going to dish as much as I remember from the live from otters to college drinking antics to shadows and Josh’s [horrible] haircut!
SO firstly. When the live first started we all saw that Sarah and Josh revealed that they are moving to LA for the ACOTAR tv series, but right now they are living in a guest house in Hawaii and have been living somewhat lavishly along the sandy beach where SJM can name turtles and write. SJM stated that her and Ron (the director) are still putting together script and casting has not started and is pretty far off in the future.
Secondly, Crescent City! Now, I haven’t read CC yet but from a large part of the discussion revolved around otters and what house they could possibly be apart of and how, like penguins, is a question that she doesn’t know how to answer yet because otters can pass as both land and water animals. Again, I have not read CC so those who have, do what you will with that information. SJM did confirm that CC with have a lot of drama, adventure, and sex.
Finally, the future of ACOTAR. Now, I felt that they were purposely avoiding the elephant in the room but from the live we have confirmed a few things: Gwyn IS an adult. SJM confirmed that she is not a child and that she is in her twenties. We also know (although SJM herself stated it’s not canon (at least not at the moment)) that Cassian won the snowball fight. She explained that how she imagines it Cassian was drunk on after-sex with Nesta that during the fight he wasn’t consecrating and was just thinking about Nesta the whole time while Azriel and Rhys were going at it pretty harshly because of their fight the night before causing them to go out on a full out war, tiring them out letting Cassian win.
Another thing Sarah dodged was whether the shadows have a mind of their own stating that it would be revealed in Azriel’s book (Azriel is getting his own book; Elain is also getting HER OWN BOOK).
SJM has also hesitantly confirmed that Azriel will be singing. We don’t know when but she has confirmed it.
Lastly, she hopes sassy Lucien comes back but right now “he is dealing with a lot of shit” and a lot of stuff is going on his life but at some point she hopes that he comes back.
There you go, that’s all I have. I hoped she could confirm the next ACOTAR book but because CC2 is the next book coming out I was not at all surprised by the fact that even though she was vague with the details, CC2 was a prominent point in this live.

Idris Elba as Helion in the upcoming ACOTAR TV show.
That's the new dream.

*A new person starts following SJM on Instagram*
Everyone: "Oh my god, are they gonna be cast in the TV adaptation?! Is that Rhys/ Feyre/... ?"
I started following her the other day as well. So why is no one suspecting me to play like the Suriel or something? I'd also make for a great Middengard Wyrm 🤷🏼♀️

You click on the first episode for ACOTAR, and you find yourself immediately immersed in a forest full of great, towering trees where you know a familiar huntress is hunting for food. The words, “The forest had become a labyrinth of snow and ice” are swept across the screen in a flurry of wind and snow...

My one(1) fear is Rhysand's actor not making me feel the way Ben Barnes does
