THE DEVIL’S INVITATION, 2019
Another throwback, this one from 2019. This piece was made for an art show comprised of pieces inspired by music. I picked Aldous Harding’s “Stop Your Tears”, specifically the lyrics:
The yellow rose is a stranger,
The Devil’s invitation in bloom.
I fondly remember painting and glazing, pushing and pulling, all the little lace details on the ruff and cuffs. Makes me want to paint lace again...
You can read more about the process and everything behind the scenes here.

Thetis - watercolour and acryla gouache
After reading "the Song of Achilles" by Madeline Miller, I was inspired by the description of a beautiful, yet terrifying Thetis. I took it a step further and created a nereid of my own design, inspired by squid and jellyfish.

I'm late to the birthday party with this one because though I started it yesterday, I didn't get it finished. Decided to reimagine 13's outfit, and go with the tousled hair look, because my creative license let's me do that. Belated Happy Birthday, Jodie!
