THE DIVINE FEMININE
This one is maybe not finished yet, but I’ll leave it like that for now- as a symbol of my current state. I clearly feel that I am coming in my full power. In the power of my being and reason of coming into this world.

whew! the beginning stages of any piece for me is always the most exciting yet the most time consuming. lots of pencil work just for it to be painted over, but it`s so fun. i love seeing how it all comes to fruition and then i get sad because i don`t want to paint over it. anywho..
i was very inspired by gaetano navarra’s ss 1993 collection: paisley + checker prints galore! everything was so feminine, so sexy, so alluring. i was in awe! so what better way to pay homage and celebrate a collection than to paint it, right?
i wanted four roses in four of the looks from his runway show. i chose roses because i started to use flowers to represent the women. flowers grow when you water them and take care of them; as women, we take care of ourselves + nurture ourselves so that we can blossom into this bad ass beautiful flower. so the flowers represent who we are, and the high fashion is like an approval after a large transaction, LOL.
there is alot of detail in this initial sketch because i wanted to really capture the clothing and the intricacies in the prints! can`t wait to share the final outcome.
