🌅Celestial Brothers🌌
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
✨☀️Sun & Moon🌙✨
It’s been a while since I drew the Daycare Attendant from FNAF Security Breach. I miss drawing them and I want to redraw them again. I also drew a male and female “Actias dubernardi” (also known as Chinese Luna Moth or Chinese Moon Moth). They’re one of my favorite types of moths.✨
I think Sun and Moon would like them, and this is the first time I drew moths, but I hope you like it anyway (also moths are beautiful✨). Like I said before, they would be a wonderful duo and I see them as brothers. I love these two celestial animatronics very much and I had fun drawing them. ^_^ ✨

Hey there. So, as a personal side project, I might be making a fanmade region based on China, and so far I'm trying to flesh out the invertebrate side of things. Specifically, I'm going for ones that are native to or common there. So far, I have:
Silk moth (Bombyx mori and Antheraea pernyi) [Bug/Normal] When I was making these, I had no idea you did a Bug/Normal silk moth. Oops...
Chinese luna moth (Actias dubernardi) [Bug/Fairy]
Blue carpenter bee (Xylocopa caerulea) [Bug/Steel]
Chinese hourglass spider (Cyclocosmia ricketti) [Bug/Psychic]
Shanghai hairy crab (Eriocheir sinensis) [Water/Dark] Making this one pirate/thief themed due to being an invasive species. Also crab claws + pirate hook?
Hallucigenia [Rock/Psychic] A bit on the nose, but I'm fairly surprised the fossils were actually found on
Any ideas on what other arthropods (or invertebrates in general) I could add? Thanks.
Those are all fantastic ideas! My silk moth is actually bug/fairy, and either way you can't pass that up for a China-inspired region.
What comes to mind first for me would be a Chinese Mantis, possibly inspired by the mantis-style martial arts. You could even give it two forms based on northern vs southern style.
There's also the Chinese Golden Earth Tiger tarantula Cyriopagopus schmidti, a large burrowing species with gold and black coloration, tiger-like stripes on the abdomen, and a prominent white "beard". I read that it might have inspired the legend of the Tsuchigumo, which I used to make a Bug/Dragon pseudolegendary, but it's one of those concepts I'd love to see someone else's take on.
A caterpillar infected by Ophiocordyceps, though it might be cribbing too much from Paras and Parasect.
A polychaete worm (such as Phyllodoce citrina) stylized into a Chinese dragon.
A hammerhead worm (Bipalium spp)

Hello! I want to draw a moth oc in the style of cuphead and was wandering if you have any moths to recommend me? A white one and one of your own color choice would be good!
BOY DO I. May I suggest the white plume moth, Pterophorus pentadactyla, because they are tiny and beautiful and look like fairies. If you don't want it to be ALL white, I'm a big fan of the sagebrush sheep moth, Hemileuca hera. Also love love love the white witch, Thysania agrippina, which has the largest wingspan of any moth in the world, although they are more sorta light beige and brown than white.
If I were gonna choose a moth to base an OC around personally I might go with the princely tiger moth, Chrysocale principalis, which has some wild colors. Or maybe the Chinese moon moth, Actias dubernardi, which is so pretty it looks fake, or possibly the comet moth, Argema mittrei. Or maybe the oleander hawkmoth, Daphnis neri, which has beautiful shades of green. Wallich’s owl moth, Brahmaea wallichii, has some really cool patterns you could work with. If you wanted to get wild and base it on a caterpillar instead of an adult moth, I would recommend Citheronia phoronea, which looks like a weird spiny goth.
If none of these do it for you, I’d check out photos on inat of lepidopterans here. You can filter by family if you’re particularly into a certain type of moth :)

Tumblr media
giant millipede (archispirostreptus gigas) - millipedes are just extremely friend shaped
Tumblr media
chinese moon moth (actias dubernardi) -literally every single moth in beautiful, but so this isnt just a list on 5 months i tried very hard to pick just one (male left, female right)

Do you have a favorite butterfly?
Not technically a Butterfly and instead a Moth, but I really love Luna Moths (Actias Luna) and Chinese Luna Moths (Actias Dubernardi)! I find them stunning- which may actually be very stereotypical of me as a Pagan and Witch but frankly I do not care, ha.
Luna Moths (Actias Luna) are actually native here in Oklahoma, and one of their host trees is the Sweetgum (Liquidambar spp.); you'll not only recognize them as the primary tree that leant their shape to the "Tree Stars" of the Land Before Time series of films (as far as my little child brain has ever been convinced) ... But also as the trees that produce the spikey seed pods often called "Witches Spurs" or "Witches Burrs" used in several variations of American Folk Magic, and American strains of African Diasporic Magics!
It's really important, however, that if you live in an area where Luna Moths (Actias Luna) are native, and you have one of their host Trees (they have several)? That you do not, under any circumstances, ever rake or mulch (etc) your leaves until after emergence season; common understanding about Butterflies and Moths says they pupate above ground, but the Luna Moth doesn't do this. They pupate on the ground, in the leaf litter around the base of their host trees. And so by raking away or mulching the leaves of their host trees early, you're literally killing the Luna Moth population. And this is actually becoming a significant problem with several species of Butterflies and Moths both- not just Lunas!
So please be kind and leaf your leaf litter until after emergence season each year (usually around the end of April, beginning of May in most areas of the US), as much as you're able to actually do so. Even if you don't have Luna Moths, it's beneficial to so many insects that heavily rely on leaf litter for winter survival and hibernation!

"You know... the fancy, curled tails on actias dubernardi serve no aerodynamic purpose. If anything, they even hinder the moth in its flight. Some theories suggest, however, that they do still serve a survival purpose. They are useful to deflect the echo-location of bats, their natural predators. So, these mesmerizing beautiful accessories essentially serve to distract those, who want them harm."
The old god carefully adjusted the cuffs of his sleeves.
"It is well and good to keep a low profile, d'alen. But in some instances, being flashy is more effective to avoid being truly seen."
