how you met:
- you worked at a cafe and he came by one day with jinyoung

- he told u the place nd talked abt his ear piercing journey and stuff
- you thought he was so cool
- he smiled a lot during the convo
- you guys had a whole ass convo abt piercings

- u thought he was joking
- “oh ur serious”

- u were screaming internally
- “ask me out then”
- “ok”

- u were in the middle of the food court and u were like🧍‍♀️
- u said yes ofc
- and then u continued with ur day
jaebeom as your boyfriend:

- when he does he’ll call u babe or beautiful
- not very into pda
- he’ll hold ur hand nd give u cheek kisses and thats it basically
- he’s pretty private abt his love life, especially with u

- sometimes u have to be like “ok bruh u have to go outside or something”
- nd u guys walk around or go to the park
- nd then u let him go back to the studio and wish him the best
- you've gotten into the habit of taking care of him bc sometimes he’s just BAD at it when he gets too deep in his work
the first time I love you was said:
- he said it first
- he was sick as FUCK

- mans was throwing up, diarrhea, cough, fever
- he was on the brink
- nd ofc u being the caring girlfriend u are
- u took care of him
- u were making him chicken soup
- he was in bed, full fever, face up with a rag on his head
- u brought him the soup and set it on the bedside table
- “I want to shower”
- u were VERY stuck
- “ok then”
- and u helped him undress himself and helped him shower
- u were cautious and u washed his hair for him and he washed his body
- u helped him out of the shower and u helped put new clothes on him
- and u helped him back into bed nd fed him the soup
- nd halfway through he just stared at u
- “what?”
- “I love you”
- u were stuck AS HELL
- but he was groggy and he had the softest smile on his face
- nd u could tell that even tho he was literally decaying
- he meant it
- although he was sick u still took care of him and helped him with everything
- “I love you too”
- beom was sick as hell but god he never felt happier
- nd then he threw up ur soup as u held his hair back
- but he was forever grateful
- he knew that he never wanted to leave ur side
- u were the best thing that had ever happened to him
- in conclusion
- jaebeom SOFTEST BF EVER
- lmk if yall want one of these for another member or for skz

t’aimer sans cesse
↦ song: Hesitate from Eyes On You
↦ lyrics: 'Yes, you, why are you making me this confused?/ I don't get you any more'
↦ word count : 9k+
↦ genre : roommates to lovers
↦ warnings : fluffs, angst if you squint really hard
↦ summary : Park Jinyoung. You. Jeong Jaehyun. As complicated as it seems, you’d be honest when you said, you didn’t expect to be involved in this whole love triangle. Have you been missing signals or have he been sending you absolutely invisible signals? Is your radar broken? How have you not know? How have you been so dense? How long have you been foolishly hurting him?
↦ a/n : Hey everyone! I’m back with a new fic! I’m soo sorry it’s been a drought here on my blog. But i’m back and looks like Mr Jeong is joining us this time~ Anyways, this fic is written for the GOT7 Alive Fest on twitter and if anyone is interested, go check it out on @/GOT7_Alive_2020. They have both artists and writers joining the fest! Most of them post on ao3 and I am probably the only one who post on tumblr. Nevermind that, I hope you love the fic! Thank you for reading!

Morning classes are by far, the most hated part of your schedule. You don’t like waking up early, which explains why you’re not a morning person. You don’t remember when was the last time you met the morning birds and the sunrise since you usually wake up after ten in the morning and the sun is already up. You missed the chirping and the first ray of the morning but you’d trade anything for sleep at the moment.
“Jinyoung.” you groan when you feel a finger poking your cheek and pinching it. You know it’s him, who else is patient to wake you up? Bambam and Yugyeom have long given up trying to wake you since you refused all their advances, even coaxing you with food. “I don’t want to wake up.”
You heard a few rustling and you exhaled in relief. Perhaps Jinyoung will let you off the hook and let you sleep this once. You don’t have that many morning classes, to be honest. You only have one, and that’s on every Tuesday. Usually you wake up and sign the attendance then go back to sleep since you had online learning for this semester, but since the situation has toned down and the university has reopened, today marks the first day of on-site class.
“Hey, sleepyhead.” you hear his voice and a few seconds later, you feel your face getting wet and his palm softly applying cold water all over your face. Another dip into the basin and he returns his palm to your face with another round of wiping the cold water all over your face which he carefully presses it on your eyelids. “Wake up. You have class at nine.”
You grumble, turning away from him to continue sleeping but at this moment, you’re almost wide awake after he technically washes your face for you. You can hear Jinyoung chuckling and you’re positive now that he has successfully woken you up. “Urgh. I hate how you wake me up easily.”
“Not my fault that I’m an expert.” he laughs upon seeing you getting out of his bed and into the bathroom. “Hurry up. I’m taking you to breakfast.”
“For what?” you appear again with your toothbrush inside your mouth.
“To eat, you dummy. Your class ends at eleven and you’d be starving by then.” he picks a book out of your shared bookshelf, flipping it to the page he left before. “Hurry up! I’m giving you ten minutes!”
You stare in disbelief at him and when he sees you’re unmoved, he throws you one of your small pillows to get you moving. “Tik tok, y/n! Move fast!”
“I can’t believe you shove me into the bathroom.” you frown when Jinyoung just laugh at your complaint. He indeed shoved you into the shower after you’ve been standing for too long while brushing your teeth. “We aren’t even late!”
“You’ll thank me later.” Jinyoung grins, walking into the busy cafe. People are getting their first coffee supply of the day and so do you. Jinyoung and you are both coffee people, it just made sense to start the day with a cup of iced Americano.
As usual, Jinyoung will queue up so you can find a seat for both of you while waiting. It’s easy to catch a spot in the cafe during the morning since most people pack to-go breakfast. So you carefully choose a table for two, a bit far from the counter and hidden from the excessive sun exposure but still be able to see people entering the cafe.
It’s just an unconscious habit of yours, to watch whoever that passes through the door. It’s just amusing to you how most people fall into the same time schedule, about fifty people probably have the same class to attend and twenty seven of them need coffee before class.
“Here.” a tray of drinks and food appears before you, you make space for Jinyoung to place the drinks out of the tray and put the tray away. It’s so obvious which one of the food is yours and which one is Jinyoung’s. He prefers to have croissants for breakfast while you prefer egg sandwiches since you’ll be fuller and can last until lunch time. “Saw anyone you know?”
You shake your head before taking a big bite of your sandwich, munching them happily. The man before you just laugh at your behaviour, fifteen minutes ago you were wrestling with him to get into the shower and now you’re just behaving like a child, eating her breakfast with joy.
He sees the corner of your lips smudged with the mayo and his heart skips a beat, wondering how can you be so adorable being so messy. He can’t stand someone munching loudly but here he is, watching the corner of your lips moving and the sauce is still there. So he extends his hand, wiping your lips and retracts to lick his thumb back, before going back to eat his own croissant.
You didn’t mind, it’s not actually out of the ordinary. Jinyoung smiles, knowing how comfortable you are with him. Sometimes he wishes you don’t, because right now he just wanted to let you know how badly he’s in love with you.
But of course he can’t. As best friends, he can’t. His feelings aren’t worth the awkward encounters or the cold treatment you’ll be giving him once you learn that he’s in love with you.
Tumblr media
“Alright so for the assignment partners,” your professor announces, indicating the class is ending in ten minutes. During the quarantine, he has decided that all assignments will be graded individually since the quarantine was expected to run longer. However with the on-site classes coming to life again, he wanted to make the last assignment graded in partners, so that he can actually provide better materials for the lecturers audit session.
You heard your name being called and you swear your breath hitches when another name follows yours, loud and clear. “Jeong Jaehyun.”
“Oh my god.” your friend next to you gasps, utterly speechless at revelation of your partner. You as well, are shocked and completely blank out. “Oh my god. You got the golden boy.”
“Oh my god.” repeating the phrase over and over again, your friend taps you multiple times and you feel your throat dried. One of the reasons why she’s so excited is because you’ve developed a crush towards the golden boy from the start of the semester and she knows. She, who goes by the name Mina, is your only friend from the same course.  However it was short lived since you only got three classes with him and the quarantine started. Either way, you’ve completely forgotten about your crush until he was brought up again,
You took Mathematics as an elective just because you thought it was fun and you wanted to try it. Jinyoung couldn’t make it, Psychology students are always packed and you, as the Language student, have too much time to spare.
“Mina. this is insane.” you are having a minor breakdown and Mina isn’t helping, squealing when she sees Jaehyun walking over towards your seat, nudging you not so subtly. “My lord, don’t nudge me like that-”
He stops in front of you and for a second you forget how to breathe, extremely mesmerized by his presence. Here’s why he’s the golden boy.
You knew from a classmate that he comes from the Engineering faculty, taking Mathematics as one of his complementary subjects in order to fulfill his credit hours requirement for this semester. It’s a given that he excels in mathematics as he’s an engineering student but his other achievements make him even more dreamy and absolutely golden.
Jaehyun is also very popular in sports, he’s one of the baseball club players, the one and only sport club that is making names for your university. It doesn’t need you to attend their matches to know how well he’s been playing. His fame makes up for it. They have been winning almost every match and well, he contributes about two third of the scores. Above all of that, he’s apparently a member of NCT frat, where every single member is magnificently handsome, carved and painted by god himself.
In short, he’s the standard boyfriend you’ll never get.
“Uhm.” okay he has a bit of a flaw — no, not a flaw. Despite how famous he is, he’s apparently an introvert. He gets shy quite easily, more reasons to like him. The tip of his ears will be red if he feels nervous or shy and you don’t know what is cuter than that. “Hey.”
You forgot how to talk just by looking at him. Never would you have thought you’d be able to talk to him, well given the situation and his social status, you have no doubt you’re out of his circle. It’s only when Mina secretly pinches your thigh that you manage to find your voice, clearing your throat to reply to him. “Hi. Sorry, I’ve been so rude. I’m y/n.”
He offers you a smile. Jeong Jaehyun offers you a smile. You can finally die in peace. “I know. I’ve heard a lot of things about you.”
Oh. What is this? How does he know about you? Scratch that, why would he know anything about you?
“Wha- what? Excuse me?”
He chuckles and Mina’s gasp is completely audible to your ears now, you have no idea if Jaehyun catches that. But you know he does, after all his ears won’t lie to him. “I know you. You’re Jinyoung’s girlfriend.”
Even nothing comes out from Mina, you know she’s laughing. Of course, your reputation is affiliated with Jinyoung. There isn’t any person on the campus who doesn’t know about you and Jinyoung. To say you’re Jinyoung’s best friend is absolutely underrated, so they upgraded your status to Jinyoung’s girlfriend. You’re so close to Jinyoung that it made a lot of his fangirls mad. Why? Because just like Jaehyun, Jinyoung is a member of a frat.
GOT frat specifically.
Things got complicated and you got his fangirls harassing you to the extent of harming you in your own house during your first semester. After much consideration, Jinyoung figured that it is safer for you to stay with him instead. No one will be able to harm you in a frat house, mainly because he is there but also, his members are very protective of you too.
Hence he got Jaebeom to go to the administration and arranged your residency exchange. You have no idea how Jaebeom managed to convince them since no girls are allowed to reside in an all boys frat. However he powered through and the news spread as fast as they could, making you officially Jinyoung’s girlfriend and off market.
“Lord, not this again.” you mutter quietly but goodness gracious of course he heard it. Jaehyun’s laughter resonates again and this time you decided to just fuck it. “Firstly no, I’m not Jinyoung’s girlfriend. I’m his best friend and I have no idea why people keep saying I’m his girlfriend.”
“Maybe because you act like a couple?” Jaehyun offers his thoughts. Probably it’s true, Jinyoung has a soft spot for you. Maybe because he feels sorry for what you’ve been through, however you don’t mind. You love when Jinyoung is being protective of you. It reminds you of how much he cared for you.
“Yeah. Nevermind that. Do you want to talk about the assignment?” you hate to ruin the moment but you figured he needed to go somewhere and you’re already holding him back. If you want to chit chat, you can do it when you meet for the assignment.
“Oh yes.” he quickly whips out his phone and scans the task given, quickly sliding his phone to your direction. “Okay so I’ve done question no 1 and just need you to look over them in case I did them wrong-”
He- what? He already did the assignment? Screw it, you’re in love with him already.
“So we just need to work on the second question.” he finishes his sentence and looks up to you, flashing his dimples away. Ah right, his deep dimples are exactly the reason why you’ve taken a liking in him. Whenever you have online classes, a strand of his luscious brown hair will naturally parted away from the others, his dimples showing up occasionally when he’s solving questions. Out of every single window on the screen, you’ve been intently watching his window, mesmerized by his good looking face. “I guess we can set the time and place for us to work on this?”
You unconsciously nod, before quickly snapping out of your thoughts. “Yeah, I’m actually fine anywhere. I’ll check my schedules and we can try to set any time for it?”
Jaehyun hums, hesitated before asking, “Will you be comfortable if we do it at my place?”
Another quiet squeal makes you roll your eyes, at this point Mina isn’t trying to be subtle anymore. Jaehyun has been laughing whenever she lets out any kind of noises, which embarrass you even more. “Wait- you mean NCT frat!?”
You can’t believe she just asked that.
“Wow, y/n. Spare me some of your luck, please.” she tugs on your arms to which you shrug her off easily.
“Shut up.” you tell her before catching Jaehyun’s attention again. “I’m okay with NCT frat. I’ll text you before I come over?”
“Yeah,” he replies distractedly when his phone shows an incoming voice call, seeming important since he freaks out, whipping his head to the door. “Sorry, the boys are having some meeting and I need to go now.”
He hands you his phone, his dial pad showing up. “Put your number in. I’ll text you.”
If someone ever tells you that Jeong Jaehyun will offer his phone to get your number, even for an assignment, you’d definitely assume that they’re insane and tell them to stop giving you false hope. But now you’re filling your phone number in Jeong Jaehyun’s phone and it feels more like a dream than a reality.
Only when he’s out of the lecture hall that you’re able to breathe, accompanied by Mina’s never ending teasing. Lord, why are you being extra kind today?
Tumblr media
Unknown Hey it’s Jaehyun :)
You almost drop your phone before making unrealistic noises, your heart jumping in joy. You don’t wish to disturb Jinyoung who’s studying at his table but this calls for celebration.
“Oh my god!” you decided to let it loose and quickly dance in the middle of your room out of giddiness. Jeong Jaehyun has officially texted you and he’s waiting for you to reply. “Oh gosh oh gosh oh gosh!!”
Jinyoung stares at your dancing figure with an eyebrow raised, his pen in between his teeth. To say that your sudden dance abnormal is an understatement, he’s been watching you do even crazier and dumber things in the middle of the night during examination weeks but that’s out of stress. So he lets you cool down – not really since you’re still grinning while holding your phone. Definitely, something is wrong.
“Wait how do I reply-” you fumble with your keyboard, thinking of a proper sentence. It’s been three minutes since his text and it’s the perfect time to reply back. You have to act like you didn’t wait for him to reply.
Y/n Hi! Yeap, y/n here.
What do you say more? Did the meeting go well?
You contemplate writing another sentence when his reply comes in, startling you in the process.
Unknown Have you checked your schedule? What day are you free?
Y/n I did and I am free on monday and wednesday afternoon, then friday evening. Hbu?
Unknown Oh crap. I’m only free on wednesday evening
Golden boy curses too? Oohh, hot.
Y/n Uh… I don’t mind doing it on the weekend? If you don’t have practise or anything.
Unknown Unfortunately [Sticker] I have baseball practice in the morning. But
Y/n But what
Unknown Can we make it at night? We can do the assignment in the next two weeks.  I have an upcoming submission and I’m fully booked this weekend. I’m sorry I promise you I’ll provide you snacks.
Y/n What am I? Five years old? [Sticker] I don’t mind. The due date is still far away.
Unknown Oh so you don’t want snacks?
Y/n Shut up. Give me McDonalds.
Unknown Deal. A princess will get what princess wants.
Your heart skips a beat. He calls you princess? From the first text? This sounds like a frat boy attitude. For a moment you laugh at yourself, of course he is. He’s technically a frat boy.
“Okay you’re creeping me out.” Jinyoung finally stands up from his study table and proceeds to sit on his bed. Your study table is next to his bed while his study table is at the foot of his bed. “You’ve been smiling creepily while texting. Who’re you texting with?”
You quickly reply to Jaehyun with a sticker and lock your phone, facing Jinyoung who’s still confused about what’s going on. You can’t handle this alone and you need to tell Jinyoung. If anything, Jinyoung is the first person that shall know.
“You know Jeong Jaehyun?”
He gives you an incredulous look, of course, who doesn’t know Jeong Jaehyun? One must be blind and deaf if they don’t know the golden boy. “Really? You’re asking me this now?”
You dismiss him immediately, moving to sit next to him on his bed. “He texted me.”
“He texted you?”
“Yes!” you almost screamed at him but hold back and throw yourself on his pillow, kicking the air. “We got partnered for an assignment and he texted me!”
Jinyoung is absolutely clueless because he stares at you again, confused. “So? Why are you so happy about it?”
“Oh god Jinyoung! You don’t understand!”
“Then tell me! And for god sake stop kicking already!”
You sit back up and watch Jinyoung carefully, before explaining, “Jinyoung. A handsome boy, from NCT frat texted me. And he’s not just any NCT member, he’s the golden boy. The standard boyfriend-you’ll-never-have. The Jeong Jaehyun.”
“And he texted me. And he calls me princess!” You watch Jinyoung’s face contorted with disgust and you push him away roughly. He would never understand. He’s not having a crush on Jaehyun.
“So what? I can call you princess too. What’s so special?” Jinyoung has now moved higher on the bed and his hands are crossed. This is why you need a girl best friend. When you have a boy best friend they are so dumb and they can’t understand this joy.
“Oh god. Because he’s so dreamy and I got a crush on him!” you lunge towards Jinyoung and shake him, forcing the information to sink inside his brain. “My crush just called me princess, can you believe it!!???”
“You have a crush on Jaehyun?”
“Urgh. You’re so slow.” you get up and reach for the door, yanking it open. “I’m going to Jackson. He’ll be more enthusiastic to listen to my story than you.”
You close the door and leave Jinyoung alone, stoned and unmoved on his bed.
You didn’t realise it but the previous sentence left Jinyoung speechless, sending him into a shock.
You like Jeong Jaehyun? Oh shit. Jinyoung is in a deep deep shit.
Tumblr media
“Hi.” the door opens, revealing Johnny who looks like he’s been expecting you for a while.
“Oh! Y/n!” he screams, well not screaming but definitely a higher octave than usual conversation tone. “Come in! Jaehyun told us that you’re coming over.”
Like you have agreed, Jaehyun invites you to come over two weeks after You enter the house, a fresh smell greeting you softly. The layout of the frat is just like yours, except that it is bigger, well to accommodate 21 people in one house. There’s only a few minor differences from your house, like how the kitchen and the living room looks extremely bigger.
You spot someone at the kitchen and you nod timidly, showing your respect in someone’s house. Lord, you feel overwhelmed.
“Who’s at the door- oh!” a high pitched tone yell from the fridge and you see Lucas hugging a jar of milk, probably taking it out. “Jaehyun hyung! Your pretty partner is here!”
You blush at the nickname, quickly trail behind Johnny who offers to send you to Jaehyun’s room. You agree, you can’t possibly manage to find his room by yourself. Actually, you take your words back. This house has a different layout than GOT’s frat, definitely you won’t trust yourself around here. One mistake and you’d probably end up in a room with at least three naked men.
“I have no idea why you’d yell, Lucas.” Johnny comments, ascending the stairs. “Jaehyun can’t even hear you.”
“I know. I just want to call her pretty.”
“Oh god.” your face reddens when Lucas continues to tease you that by the time you reach Jaehyun’s room, you’re as bright as a tomato.
“Heyyy you’re here- wow what happened? Why are you so red?” as soon as he opens his door, Jaehyun bends over to see your reddening face, scanning for any suspicious injury. Johnny however, starts laughing and he’s lucky you just met him today or else you’d already jab him with your fist. “Come one, Johnny. Who did this to her?”
“Lucas that kid. He’s teasing her all the way up the stairs.”
“Oh.” Jaehyun laughs as well, beckoning you to enter his room. “Shut that one up for me.”
“Aite, golden boy.”
You manage to tone down your redness after fanning it while watching Jaehyun’s minimally decorated room, all in black and white, three beds lining up next to each other, the study table at one corner and their closet at the other end. It’s a big room and with three people living in it, it still has spaces to work on the floor.
“Sorry if you find it messy.” Jaehyun rubs the back of his head sheepishly when you seated yourself on the floor, in front of the folding table that he has prepared. “I forced Jungwoo and Jeno to clean the room since you’re coming over.”
“So if you find anything suspicious, just ignore them okay?” you chuckle at his choice of words, as if you’d probably find something. The whole room looks clean, or so how it looks. You doubt you can find anything.
“I’m serious. I always find questionable things and you don’t want to know what they are.”
“Oh.” now that is something you didn’t think of. You know how they always hold parties and a lot of people come over, but you definitely didn’t think of that. “Okay now I’m afraid to move.”
Jaehyun lets out a hearty laugh, seating himself next to you comfortably. “Don’t worry. Nothing can harm you here.”
“Knock knock!” instead of knocking, Haechan chooses to enunciate the sound and in a split second he opens the door, posing at the door frame. “The delivery man is here and I’m not rich to pay for it.”
Jaehyun sighs as he pulls out his wallet, throwing it to Haechan. “Swipe it.”
You turn to Jaehyun, halting in your calculation. “Did you really order McDonalds?”
“I promised you.” he says softly, looking back at his own paper. “What my princess wants is what my princess gets.”
You swear the air suddenly gets hotter and Jaehyun turns super flirty since his first text. You kept texting back and forth, the awkward texts have long forgotten, now it’s always him asking you about your day and sending memes he found on the internet.
“Are we flirting now?”
“Depends on how you define flirt.” he smiles and that damn dimples show up again, impossible making you even more giddy. “I’d say, I’m being me.”
“This is how you are?” you look at him up and down, giving him a disapproving look. “Do you flirt with every girl you meet?”
Jaehyun comes closer to you, looking at you straight in the eye. “I’ll have you know one thing.”
“I never bring any girl into the frat. Not even hookups.”
“Why?”
“Because I don’t do hookups.”
“But I’m just an assignment partner.”
“Definitely not for me.”
You later learnt that Jaehyun has ordered every single meal on the menu because he doesn’t know what you like. You almost got tricked when you came downstairs and saw the food untouched when all the boys were practically circling the dining table but no one touched anything. It’s only after you picked your burger, fries and drink together with Jaehyun’s food that Haechan sprinted towards the table and started the food war with others.
“You just have to ask me, you know.” you tell him while he walks you home, smiling sheepishly while getting scolded. “You wasted a lot on the meals.”
“It’s not wasting.” he defends himself. “I let everyone eat the remaining. It’s not wasting.”
“Yeah, that’s one thing.”
The walk home is silent, a comforting silent. His house and yours is just a few houses apart but he still insists on sending you home. It feels so short because just in five minutes, you fall in step in front of your house. Tonight, you experience something new. You experience another set of happiness, surrounded by Jaehyun and his friends.
It’s different from being with Jinyoung and the boys, it just feels like it. With GOT frat, you feel like home while with NCT frat, you feel exhilarated.
“Hey.” you hear Jaehyun calls, making you turn to him. “I want to let you know that I enjoy talking to you.”
Your features soften, of course, you like talking to him too. “Same here, Jaehyun.”
He grins, walking backwards. “Talk to you later!”
“Good night pretty girl!” you shush him when he shouts a bit too loud. He laughs, running to his house while screaming the same sentence, absolutely madness. You love talking to him, perhaps a bit more than he does.
Tumblr media
“Jinyoung.” he calls, trying to shake the said male into reality. However he gives no response, staring into space making Jaebeom sigh in frustration. “Stop making that face. It’s obvious enough that you’re jealous.”
“What face?” Jinyoung glares, putting his Americano cup down and exhales shakily. He knows what kind of face Jaebeom was referring to. His annoyed face. “I am not jealous.”
“Oh really? Geez, I would never know,” Jaebeom rolls his eyes sarcastically. If looks can slice, Jaehyun must have been slaughtered by the Jinyoung’s total concentration water breathing form and poof! He’d be a verified demon slayer.
“Shut up.” It’s been an hour and you are still there, sitting at the table by the window, talking to Jaehyun. He has been eyeing you since you entered the cafe and was about to call for you but realised that a certain male has followed you after, seating both of you further from people. He’s not mad, no. He’s a tad bit sad. He doesn’t like this unsettling feeling and it hurts even more when he sees Jaehyun’s concentrated eyes gazing on you.
He knows that gaze. That’s just how he looks at you.
Ever since you first told him that Jaehyun texted you, something has changed. You start spending less and less time with him and more time with Jaehyun. You start waking early and rush downstairs, just to go on a morning walk with Jaehyun. At night when it’s supposed to be your time with Jinyoung, you’d spend it talking to Jaehyun, if not texting all night.
You haven’t realised it but Jinyoung is extremely jealous.
He never had you that enthusiastic with him. You’re always you, nothing special you’d change just for Jinyoung. And the thought of it makes him sad, sad that he’s actually just a friend.
“I think you should tell her, you know.” Jaebeom starts. Ever since you revealed that you had a crush on Jaehyun, Jinyoung has been constantly broken. It’s like you pressed a switch inside his brain and he malfunctioned himself. It’s rare to see Jinyoung acting out of character but this is what love does to people. It made you go insane. “What’s the point of torturing yourself watching the woman you love talking to another handsome man with heart shooting out of her eyes?”
“So you agree he’s handsome?”
“Jinyoung.” Jaebeom shakes his head exaggeratedly. “It’s Jeong Jaehyun we’re talking about. We all know that NCT house has some magic shit going around because every single member from that frat is drop dead hot and handsome. Now don’t avoid this. Tell her before it’s too late.”
Jinyoung has officially gone blank. He wanted to tell her, he really does. Jinyoung can’t count those nights where he has drawn a perfect plan in his mind, watching you sleep while mouthing unsaid words to you. He really wanted to tell you that he loves you. He had been in love with you for so long, he has forgotten when exactly he harboured his feelings for you. All he knows, one day he woke up and he felt his heart threatened to burst at the sight of you.
However every single plan has its flaws and Jinyoung’s plan involves throwing your friendship into the mix. If only he’s not afraid to risk your friendship, he would have tried his damn luck. He would have confessed and he wouldn’t give any damn whether you’d be awkward or not. Things will be easier if he has no attachment. Yet, this attachment is the thinnest line he wouldn’t dare to cross.
“I can’t, Beom-ah.” he sounds helpless, the most helpless Jaebeom ever heard and they are childhood friends. He knew Jinyoung since they were eleven and nothing, nothing  ever broke Jinyoung this bad. Jinyoung is never a quitter but this time, Jaebeom sees him quitting. “I can’t risk our friendship, Jaebeom. I can’t. I can handle her fawning over someone else but I can’t afford being apart from her.”
Jinyoung is never helpless but somehow, he’s helpless when it comes to you.
“So you’re going to let her date Jaehyun?” Jaebeom, though his heart wrenches seeing Jinyoung so broken, he’s not going to let Jinyoung give up. “Because I’m telling you, Jinyoung. Jaehyun isn’t playing. We know how someone looks when they’re in love. I’ve seen it on you and believe me or not, I saw it on Jaehyun.”
Jinyoung has never been unconfident. He’s always that one student who is constantly positive that it will turn out well in the end. He believes that even if it’s bad now, it will be better soon. Beat him but now, he sees nothing like that. He can’t bring himself to think that if he confesses to you it will turn out good. That even if something happens, even if you distance yourself from him, you will be okay in the end.
Because it won’t.
“Tell her before it’s too late please.” half pleading, Jaebeom just can’t see his friend being this lost. “Tell her even if it risks your relationship.”
“What if I lose her?” he can’t answer that, of course Jaebeom can’t. It’s not his place to make an escape plan, it certainly is not his place to come up with your answer. But there’s one thing he is sure of.
“Then she certainly doesn’t deserve you.”
Tumblr media
“I need to talk to you.” Jinyoung starts, watching you focusing on your screen. Like always, you are grinning, probably laughing at some TikTok videos that Jaehyun sent you.
“One second, Jinyoung.” you quickly type a reply and lock the phone, setting it face down. Another thing that has changed ever since you started talking to Jaehyun. Before, you had nothing to hide but now? Jinyoung doesn’t know you anymore.
You’re now totally focused on him, your eyes staring straight into his eyes but it’s different. It doesn’t feel the same. It feels like you’re someone else. You’re not his girl anymore.
“Jinyoung?”
“Hm?” it’s bothering him how foreign his name comes out from you. It’s been a month and if he counts, you probably utter his name only twice a day. “Oh yes. The talk.”
You are sitting cross legged on your chair, waiting patiently for Jinyoung to start. You realised it too, that you’ve been spending less time with Jinyoung. You do feel sorry for him and you have an inkling that he wanted to talk to you about it. Jinyoung rarely needs to have a talk with you unless he feels bothered, and now you can see how bothered he is.
Taking a look at him, you suddenly feel your heart wrenches. How long have you stopped giving attention to Jinyoung? He has this frown on his face now, sometime you never see before. His hair is a bit longer and his hair colour is a lighter shade of brown.
Who dyed his hair for him? After all, it must have not been you, since you’re busy hanging out with Jaehyun. But usually, you dyed his hair for him, saying you’re the only one who knows how to dye hair properly. Now that you look back, this concern is probably bigger than you expected.
You’ve abandoned your best friend and you knew about it but you did nothing.
“Uhm.” Jinyoung clears his throat, snapping you out of your trance. “I don’t think it’s like- like a big concern.”
“And you know I don’t like complaining either.” he stops, gulping nervously as he continues, “I just feel like we’re too far away.”
“I came home and we’re roommates but I can’t feel you here.”
“You’re so near yet so far.”
You know it will hurt. You know Jinyoung’s choice of words are already the softest he would have chosen, yet it stings. It reminds you of how ungrateful you are, leaving him for someone you have a crush on. He is telling you how he is sad, sad that he gets nothing like before. Your attention is now unavailable for him. It hurts him and now he’s projecting them in words.
Now it hurts you.
“I’m sorry if you feel like I’m demanding. But I just don’t know you anymore. I don’t know how you are, or what you ate for lunch. We’re drifting apart and it hurts me.” he continues as you stay silent, feeling the guilt eating you alive. “I know you have someone new…..yet is it so easy to leave me behind?”
Jinyoung is officially breaking apart. He feels like he’s childish, pouring his heart out but this is about him. This is him demanding you to be fair. He can’t stop you from liking Jaehyun, he can’t force you to love him back. He just wanted to remind you that he’s there. He’s there and please do something.
“Jinyoung.” your voice cracks, slowly the tears fall on your cheek. “I’m so sorry.”
“I’m so sorry I made you feel this way. I was too blinded by the newfound happiness and I forgot you. I forgot you who have constantly made me happy.”
“I’m so sorry.” you cried harder, reaching Jinyoung and hugging him. “I’m so sorry I made you feel this way.”
You feel his body shakes and you know he’s holding back from crying. You hated yourself for making Jinyoung cry.
Jinyoung isn’t weak, no he isn’t. He’s been too strong that it breaks his limit. He wanted to let go. He wanted to let go for once and he’ll be fine. If nothing goes right after tonight, he’s done tolerating.
A few quiet sobs and some awful jokes later, both of you are lying on Jinyoung’s bed, holding each other close.
“Jinyoung.”
“Hm?”
“Can I sleep with you here tonight?” you ask Jinyoung, rubbing his arm. It’s been too long since you sleep in his bed and now you feel nostalgic. You’re overreacting but really, it feels too long.
“I thought you’re going to talk to Jaehyun?” he teases, earning himself a slap on his chest. “Ow! What was that for?”
You laugh, settling yourself comfortably in his embrace. “Say Jinyoung.”
“Hm, what?”
“Do you approve Jaehyun?”
He looks down to you, questioning eyes boring into yours. You know it’s too soon, you know perhaps it’s not the best time to bring it up. But you just want to know his answer.
“For what?”
“To be my boyfriend.”
Tumblr media
Jinyoung wakes up feeling empty, his eyes stare blankly at the ceiling. You’re still sleeping in his arm yet he has this unsettling feeling inside him. Recalling your last question before you sleep, he inhales a deep breath.
Will you be happy? Will his approval make you happy?
Jaehyun is a nice guy, Jinyoung knows that. Looks aside, he has full potential to be the best boyfriend for you. Jaehyun is caring and also when he loves, he’ll love you to the fullest. It’s not a problem to approve Jaehyun, he won’t hesitate if that’s the only case.
However it’s not.
Will Jinyoung be happy with his decision? It feels like the burden has increased tremendously, from jealousy to pain in just one night. It seems like the one month is just a trial for Jinyoung, now he needs to be prepared to lose you for good.
With his fingers raking your locks, he watches you sleep soundly. This is probably the last time he watches you sleeping in his embrace. This is probably the last time he’ll see you wake up in his arms.
Lord, can you help me stop the time?
Tumblr media
“Nope.”
“Jaebeom-”
“Nope. I won’t let you be as stupid as you are.”
Jinyoung lifts his eyebrows, offended by Jaebeom’s statement. He’s just offering a suggestion yet Jaebeom calls him dumb? “Hey! What do you mean as stupid as I am?”
“Jinyoung.” Jaebeom sighs exaggeratedly, holding Jinyoung’s shoulder in place. “When I told you tell her, I mean tell her your feelings your dumb ass. Not just telling her how you feel when she forgot about you!”
“I’m not a dumb ass.”
“Well you look like that to me now.” It’s another evening where you went over to Jaehyun place to finish the assignment and Jaebeom has no other way than to confront Jinyoung about how weird both of you have been.
Yes, both of you have been weird. Specifically, Jinyoung.
The morning you woke up in his embrace, you didn’t notice something was off. Probably because you forgot how it felt waking up with Jinyoung but definitely, Jinyoung was different. As if he had a switch in him, he started avoiding you, keeping your conversation minimal.
You thought it’s just you but one day Jackson asked you why you were both eating separately, one person at the other end of the table, then you realised that Jinyoung had avoided you. Yes, he made it subtle and you never noticed it until someone pointed it out.
Jinyoung still let you sleep with him and still woke you up like any other morning. He just doesn’t talk as much as he did before. And you brush it off, thinking it as another awkward change that you brought upon your friendship.
“You’re not a dumb ass?” Jaebeom asks. “Y/n has been at Jaehyun’s for hours and you’re still here, like a wife waiting for her cheater husband? Oh you’re just unable to think rationally.”
“Shut up. She’s not a cheater.”
Jaebeom had enough of these awkward encounters. It seems like none of you figured this thing out and he needs his lively frat back again. “Then I suggest you do something about y/n. It’s almost eleven and she’s not home yet.”
“Like what?” Jinyoung is now irritated. He doesn’t have any control over what you’re doing and even if he wants to, he can’t. “I’m not her boyfriend.”
“And Jaehyun is not her boyfriend either. So go get her.”
“What?”
“You heard me. As the house leader, I’m ordering you to get her ass from that NCT frat and bring her home.”
“She can come home by herself. Jaehyun will walk her home.”
“Park Jinyoung.” Jaebeom grits his teeth, pulling the said man towards the door and without hesitation, throws him out of the house. “Don’t let me put up ‘No Jaehyun is allowed’ in front of the door. Go fetch her home by 12. I mean it, Park.”
Then Jaebeom slams the door shut, locking it from inside. Though Jinyoung clearly has the key, he knows Jaebeom probably locked the door using the other lock instead. So he stood outside, leaning against the wall.
What is he going to do? Knock on NCT frat and ask for you? No shit he’s not going to look like a desperate man.
But indeed, Jaebeom is right. Jaehyun is not your boyfriend either and he has a valid reason to be worried and to go get you at his house which is only five minutes away. Yeap, valid.
“I must have gone crazy.” Jinyoung mutters as he exits the compound and starts walking on the sidewalk in a painfully slow pace. “I must’ve looked crazy too.”
Five minutes turns fifteen, courtesy of Jinyoung walking around the neighbourhood and standing like a stool against the lamp post, contemplating whether he’s going to knock on the door or not.
“Well.” he sighs, walking up the NCT house and stands nervously in front of their door. “Aite, fuck this.” he knocks, slow at first but gradually the third knock is loud, followed by fourth and fifth. He did it on purpose, he knows how boys can be. Yugyeom and Bambam can be so focused while watching Netflix that they can’t even hear any other noises.
Jinyoung fiddles with his hoodie sleeves, his heart beating nervously as he waits for someone to get the door.
“Who is- oh, Jinyoung!” Thank god, Taeyong shows up, not Lucas or Jaemin or else Jinyoung would have a hard time being less suspicious. “Why are you here?”
Now that’s another hard question? Does he simply say ‘well my roommate is here and it’s already 11.20 and why the fuck is she still here’? Or does he say ‘i’m jealous so i’m picking up my girl’? Nope. Nope.
“Uh. Is y/n here?” He hopes he doesn’t sound like a desperate man asking for his crush’s whereabouts because he feels like he’s one. “It’s- it’s 11.20 and uh Jaebeom is kinda mad? She’s not yet back.”
Taeyong takes like- 30 seconds to let the information sink in, before frantically shouting for Jaehyun. “Jaehyun! Tell y/n that Jinyoung is here to bring her home!”
An awkward silence follows him, well of course it’s awkward. All pairs of eyes are watching him from all directions, curious of why he’s here to bring her home? You have been patronising this house for like, two months now and suddenly he’s here to remind her of her curfew?
He hears you come down the stairs, shock paints your face as you see him at the door. Firstly, well since Jinyoung avoided you, you don’t know why he suddenly came to take you home. Secondly, since when do you need someone to take you home?
“Jinyoung.” you reach the door, Jaehyun trailing behind you equally as confused. “Why are you here?”
The amount of ‘why are you here’ irks him that by the time you ask him the same question, he feels like his blood is boiling. Why is it so hard to believe that he’s here to take you home? Don’t you realise what time is it already? Why are you still at Jaehyun’s? These voices inside his head are shouting at the same time and he just- can’t stop himself anymore.
“Why? I can’t come here now?” his question, as soft as he wanted to sound, didn’t come out well. It sounds plainly rude, like he’s picking a fight with you. “Do you know what time it is?”
“Not that. I’m just confused.”
“Jaebeom told me to come and get you.”
“But I can go home by myself.” you point at Jaehyun behind you, who stays silent between your conversation. “Jaehyun can walk me home.”
At this point, Jinyoung feels anger bubbling up inside him and if everyone squints really really hard, one can see that his jugular vein almost pops. All this ‘Jaehyun this and Jaehyun that’ is starting to get to him and honestly? He’s tired of listening to it.
“Can we just go home?” as much as he wants to scream at everyone, he doesn’t want to make a mess at someone’s frat. He knows how Jaebeom works hard to maintain a good relationship with other frats and how hard it is to clean after messes. “I don’t think we should be having this conversation here.”
You silently agree, bidding the boys goodbye and step out of the house. Jaehyun’s eyes follow you worriedly, as if he knows that you’d probably end up fighting with Jinyoung.
In your eyes, Jinyoung is irritated by the fact that you asked too many questions but in Jaehyun’s eyes, he recognises those emotions as anger and jealousy. He’s been asking you about your true relationship with Jinyoung, knowing that it’s impossible for one to be that close without any feeling involved. Tonight, he found out why.
Jinyoung is in love with you.
“Taeyong.” he whispers while watching both of you getting further away from his house. “Fuck, Taeyong.”
“What?”
“I messed up.”
“What??” how come Jaehyun didn’t realise it from the start? Of course, when he first got close to you, he thought that you and Jinyoung are just best friends and given he never really gets to talk to Jinyoung, well he just didn’t think of that.
“Taeyong.” his frantic eyes find Taeyong, who is as clueless as ever. “Jinyoung loves y/n.”
The leader’s vision switches to the couple on the street, looking at them with wide eyes. “Oh fuck.”
Tumblr media
“I don’t understand him!” you throw your hands, ruffling your hair. It’s been four days and Jinyoung avoided you like a plague, refusing to talk to you even if you cornered him every time you got him. “He’s like, really confusing.”
Jaehyun bites the apple, listening to your story intently. You have told him through texts but here you are again, ranting about how Jinyoung is the most useless communicator and it’s impossible to take the words out of him if he decided to give you cold treatment.
“So you said he’s been weird after you asked him if he approves me to be your boyfriend?” he asks again, making sure he had his point right. Just like four days ago, Jaehyun has concluded that Jinyoung indeed, has been in love with you for so long but you’re just dense to realise it. It’s been proven true, you have the audacity to ask Jinyoung about it and not feel guilty at all.
“Yeah.” you sit on the foot of Jaehyun’s bed, settling yourself comfortably. You hang out more at Jaehyun since Jinyoung looks like he’s about to become mute whenever he sees you in the house. You figured you could give him some space. “I’m so confused right now.”
Jaehyun nudges you with his foot, making you look right up to him. Jaehyun has been too comfortable with you, becoming close just after two months. He’s at that stage where he just calls you with his feet now.
“You wanna know what I think?”
“What?”
“I think that Jinyoung is in love with you.”
“What the-” Shock is not enough to portray your feelings right now. It’s a mixture of shock, disbelief and suspicions. You don’t know if Jaehyun is playing around because right at this moment, his face shows no hint of joking. “Jaehyun! It’s not funny!”
Jaehyun rolls his eyes, annoyed with your ignorance. You’re the most clueless person he ever knows, and he knows Mark Lee! “Girl, listen to me.”
“What did Jinyoung say when you said I texted you?”
“He said, ‘so?’”
“And what did he say when you said you like me?”
“Is this another session to feed your ego?” you don’t trust Jaehyun, he has a lot up in his sleeves and you just knew him for two months. “I fed your ego too much, don’t you think so?”
“Shut up and answer me. What did he say?”
You roll your eyes. “He said nothing. Why are we doing this?”
“What did he reply when you ask about me being your boyfriend?”
“He didn’t reply. God, I don’t know where you are going with this conversation.”
Jaehyun takes another bite of his apple, munching while talking at the same time. “You see, he didn’t reply when you told him you like me. That’s fine, maybe he didn’t care. But when you ask him about me being your boyfriend, why didn’t he answer right away?”
“Well-”
“Because he doesn’t want to! Come on, Jinyoung can’t possibly tell you no right? You’d be too nosy and asked why.”
“Hey!”
“So what I think is, he likes you.” Jaehyun concludes, snapping his fingers in triumph. “Now the real question is, do you like him back?”
You shut up, eyes running away from Jaehyun’s. You don’t know, well you have no idea. You never thought about liking Jinyoung because you don’t want to risk your friendship. It might have crossed your mind a few times but you ignored the curiosity, you figured it’s the best to stay being friends.
Not that you don’t want to invest your feelings in Jinyoung, you’re just too afraid that it will backfire you. You don’t like rejection and you certainly don’t want to become awkward afterward.
“I don’t know.” you answer truthfully because really, you don’t know.
“Then find it out.”
Tumblr media
You close the door to your room, putting down your bag on the floor and sit down on your bed. Jinyoung is at his study table, unmoved.
“How long are you going to give me cold shoulders, Jinyoung?” you ask, your feet kicking the air. You know he’s listening, even if he has his earphones in. That’s just Jinyoung style, to wear earphones so that no one bothers him, especially Jackson. Whenever Jackson comes over, he’d retreat when he sees Jinyoung stuffing them in his ears. “I know you can hear me, Jinyoung.”
“Let’s not fight anymore.” you look down, suddenly you feel sad. You feel like you’re losing Jinyoung. Is this what Jinyoung feels before? So near yet so far?
“It’s been hard without you, Jinyoung.”
“The mornings are extremely cold without your laugh and the lunch is plain without you cracking up lame jokes. Dinner is boring because you avoided me and night…the nights are even colder without your hugs.”
“I know you’d say, ‘so what? You have Jaehyun so go and ask him to eat with you, crack up lame jokes and give you hugs.’ but I don’t want Jaehyun. I want you.”
Jinyoung has stopped writing, listening to you intently. You noticed this, which is why you continue, “Jaehyun told me that he thinks you like me.”
You didn’t realise it but Jinyoung stiffens at the mention of his crush on you, catching him off guard. He knows that someone will eventually tell you about this but he definitely didn’t think of Jaehyun of all people.
“I don’t know if it’s true. Jaehyun isn’t exactly the best fortune teller so I definitely can’t gamble with his words.”
“I just want you to know that you’re extremely important in my life. I never thought of putting you second just because I found someone new. In fact, I decided that I’ll stay as friends with Jaehyun, I don’t find him that attractive anymore.”
You stand up and walk over to his side, sitting on his bed just beside him, forcing him to face you. “So if that’s the case, can you please stop being jealous now? I don’t have anything to do with Jaehyun. We are not dating and can I please have my Jinyoung back?”
Jinyoung is frowning, his eyes scan you from the top to the bottom. “You don’t find him attractive anymore? Really?”
“Well-” you grin, crinkling your nose up playfully. “He’s still handsome. I can’t deny that.”
You feel more at ease, now that you’ve told Jinyoung what you’ve been wanting to tell him. It feels lighter, your brain and your heart. You hated the days where Jinyoung ignored you and you’re left imagining what you would do without him in your life. The thought alone scares you, the fact that you’ve been so comfortable with Jinyoung beside you and you never thought he’ll leave you for someone else someday.
“So you still like him.” Jinyoung confirms and turns around to his note again, picking up his pen.
You scream, pulling him away from his work and tugs him nearer, trying to have all his attention on you. Jinyoung struggles to escape from your grips but fails miserably, laughing along the way. You join him, laughing together as you bring him nearer.
“Let me go, oh god. Since when you’re so strong?” he wrestles his way out of your grip again, hoisting you up and throws you on the bed easily. “Did you practise lifting Jaehyun’s dumbbells?”
“Yeah, I went there to exercise.” you reply deadpanned and laugh when Jinyoung tickles you as a revenge.
“Hey.” you call out, trying to get his attention again. Jinyoung’s arms have you caged, he’s on top of you while you lie comfortably on his bed. “Is it true?”
“What is?” Jinyoung’s eyes rake you face up and down, like how his thoughts are running wild inside his brain. He doesn’t know what to do, does he confess now? Does he confirm that it’s true? Does it mean you’ll be his? Can he do that? Can he kiss you?
“Is it true that you like me?” just as Jinyoung, you’re nervous. You’re conflicted. What if he doesn’t actually like you? What is Jaehyun really bad at guessing? You’re not surprised, nothing surprises you about Jaehyun anymore.
“What if it’s true?”
“I’d be so happy.”
“Why?”
“Because I’ve been thinking for a while and I don’t think i can ever end up with someone else other than you.”
“Oh yeah?” Jinyoung’s heart stops at your confession, then beats harder as he feels his adrenaline pumping his blood faster. “Can I kiss you now?”
You shake your head, watching Jinyoung’s eyes grow and a cute frown appears on his face. You wanted to laugh but you held back, looking straight into his eyes.
“Why not?”
“You haven’t said you like me.”
“Oh my god.” he curses, turning away from you when he feels his face grows hotter. “Fuck- fine. I like you. Are you satisfied?”
You laugh, nodding furiously. Jinyoung doesn’t waste any more seconds, diving right then to press his plump lips to yours, taking the perfect shape of your lips in his.
Finally. His mind says, Fucking finally.
“God. finally.” he mutters to himself, somewhat trying to convince himself that indeed, he’s kissing you. “Oh god.”
“Do you know how long I have been dying to kiss you?” he reaches down to press another kiss on your temple, another on your cheeks, nose and your chin, then pressing the last one on your lips once again.
You chuckle under him, pressing your palms on his chest to hold him. “How long?”
“Too long, I’ve forgotten already.” his reply earns another laugh from you.
Jinyoung moves to lie beside you, watching you play with the string of his hoodie. It’s funny how time works. About fifteen minutes ago you’re sitting on your bed, trying to fix things up and now you’re lying beside him after he kissed you breathless.
“I thought you’re dating Jaehyun.” he did. He really thought that after what happened, you’d hate him. “I hated myself for screaming at you.”
A strand of his hair falls on his forehead and you reach to swipe it away, pushing his locks behind. “Yeah, you’re quite rude.”
“Very rude.”
“I thought our friendship is ending.” you confess, eyes on his chest instead of his face. “I thought it’s the end of us. That you got fed up with me.”
“Then it turns out that you’re just a jealous boy.”
Jinyoung pushes your chin up, making you face him. “Just a jealous boy? You didn’t know how jealous I am when everything is about Jaehyun! Have you ever heard I talk about other girls? No right? See who’s rude now?”
Another laugh escapes you and you caress his face, calming him down. “I didn’t know, okay. I thought you were fine with it.”
“Yeah right.”
“But we’re here now, right? You don’t have to be jealous anymore.”
“Really?” Jinyoung’s finger finds your lock, playing with the strand. “Do you like me too?”
You really want to make him suffer a bit. Just a bit since he’s being a pain in the ass for ignoring you for one week straight.
“Hmm, I need to think about that again.” you grin, sending Jinyoung into a series of screams.
“What the- out!” he pushes you off his bed with you hanging onto him while your laugh fills the room. “Get out of my bed!”
“Oh my god. I can’t believe you! Did you just play me?”
“Is my feeling that easy?”
“Get out of my bed!”
“Jinyoung!”
“Out!”
You don’t know about your feelings, just yet. But there’s one thing for sure. You love Jinyoung’s kisses. You can deal with that. But his petty ass? That calls for a serious mental discussion.

Park Jinyoung x female reader / 457 words / angst / fluff
Warnings: fake relationship, mentions of insecurities
⊱ ──────────────────────── ⊰
You hated doing this, but you hated your crazy ex more. Jinyoung was the most annoying person you had met, yet here you were, pretending that he was your boyfriend to avoid your ex. He was holding you in his arms, staring down at you with a surprising amount of love in his eyes for you as you caressed his firm chest lightly. Your ex stared at the two of you with anger in his eyes as you explained to him how the two of you had met.
“And from there on, we just kind of clicked,” You smiled up at Jinyoung actually realizing how handsome he was instead of how annoying he was.
“She’s the best. She’s always so sweet and cute. I can’t get enough of her,” Jinyoung exclaimed, making your heart beat faster than expected.
Your ex would scoff with annoyance as he looked at the two of you up and down, “That’s...fantastic. Glad you two found each other,” He would continue to stare at you, making you visibly uncomfortable.
Jinyoung would notice this and would lean forward, pulling you into him for a kiss. When his lips met yours, you were shocked, but still needed to play your role. You would close your eyes quickly and deepen the kiss to make your ex uncomfortable. He would scoff loud enough for the two of you to hear him before walking away upset. Even after your ex was gone, the two of you would still be lip locked, realizing the sudden affection you had for one another. The saying that hate and love were closely related emotions was definitely true.
After you pulled away and looked up into his brown eyes, you would realize that you indeed had fallen for him. You could feel the heat rise to your cheeks as he smiled down at you, loving how cute you were. You would try to gently maneuver out of his hold, but he made sure to keep his arms wrapped tightly around you, making you confused.
“I think I need to take care of you for a while longer. You never know if your ex will come around again. But this time, I think I should be your actual boyfriend instead of your fake one. Definitely would be more believable,” Jinyoung winked at you with a smile plastered to his face as his hands caressed your back.
You blushed harder while letting out a small giggle, “Oh, so now the cocky Jinyoung likes me? So suddenly?” Your hands would be messing with the material of his shirt.
He loved how nervous you were, showing how you had begun to like him back, “I’ve always liked you dummy. You’ve just been too blind to see it.”

sapphire~        p. jinyoung
     This was a request! I went off the rails a little, but I hope that’s okay. It’s a scenario where the reader’s husband passed away (fair warning: there are mentions of death) leaving her with two kids. She’s starting to date Jinyoung, and her oldest daughter is now in a constant state of rebellion because of it. It’s really just a wholesome, bittersweet mother-daughter story with Jinyoung being husband material. Enjoy that lol.

     “I have to take a rain check on dinner,” you say into the phone. Your cellphone’s in one hand and your son is in the other. He’s contentedly nibbling on a plastic toy meant to soothe his gums. Teething is a real bitch. “Ivy hasn’t come home yet and she’s not answering her phone.”
     You hear your boyfriend sigh on your behalf. “Do you want me to come over? I could watch Adrian if you need to look for her.”
     “She’ll come home,” you say. “Ivy is only doing this to get under my skin.”
     “Because of me.”
     You set Adrian down in his little blue Bumbo seat. He makes a face like he’s about to cry, then laughs in your face. “It’s not your fault, Jinyoung.”
     “If I weren’t in the picture—”
     “She’d find another way to take out her grief,” you explain, tickling one of Adrian’s tiny feet. His legs go flying around and you can’t resist cracking a smile. “You’re the easiest thing for her to hate.”
     “I’m really sorry, Y/N.” Based on his tone, he sounds like he should be putting a deflated hand on his forehead about now. “I don’t want to cause your daughter any more pain than she’s already had to deal with.”
     You’re about to tell Jinyoung that he’s not causing anyone any pain when you hear a car pull in your driveway. In a second, you’ll hear Ivy’s keys dangle against the front door as she unlocks it. “She’s here; I’ll call you later.”
     “Good luck.”
     You poke Adrian’s nose. “Thanks.”
     It’s the look on your daughter’s face that pisses you off more than anything else. Ivy strides into the kitchen nonchalantly like she hasn’t just come home two hours after her curfew. “Hey.”
     “Why are you doing this?” You look at her sternly. “This isn’t like you, Ivy, and you know it.”
     She crosses her arms. “What the hell is that supposed to mean?”
     “Listen to yourself, sweetheart.” Your face softens. “You won’t make me yell at you. You’re not doing this to be a bad kid. Try to piss me off, but it won’t work. All you’re doing is making me feel disappointed.”
     “You don’t know anything! Stop treating me like a baby!”
     “Do not raise your voice in front of him.” You motion toward Adrian, who has stopped chewing his plastic toy. He’s staring at her with wide, clueless eyes. “Make my life harder all you want, but don’t you dare put him under any stress.”
     For a second, Ivy actually looks taken aback and even regretful. Her walls rise more quickly than they fell, though. “Whatever.”
     You hold out an expectant hand. “Give me your keys. Now.”
     “That’s so unfair.”
     “No,” you object. “What’s unfair is how—for the last two hours—I didn’t know if you were dead or alive.”
     Ivy rolls her dark eyes. “You’re so dramatic.”
     “And you’re so grounded.” You close your extended hand and open it again in emphasis. “Give it, unless you want to tell me where you were for the last two hours.”
     Reluctantly, she plops her colorful keys into your hand. You take out your phone and send Jinyoung a quick text. Could you stop by after all, if you don’t mind? I want to take Ivy on a drive. After he lets you know that he’s on his way, you put your phone away. Your daughter is staring at you like you have three heads. “Put your shoes back on. We’re going for a drive. Jinyoung’s gonna watch Adrian.”
     “Of course he is.” Ivy doesn’t move an inch toward her shoes. “Whatever excuse you can use to get him in the door, right?”
     You send her a careful, unforgiving look. “If I were you, I’d shut my mouth about now.”
     A few minutes of passive-aggressive silence and strange baby noises later, you see headlights. You thank Jinyoung for coming so quickly, leaving him with a grateful kiss on the cheek. Ivy makes a fake vomiting sound. Your husband’s only buried ten minutes away, in a churchyard full of people he’s related to. When she realizes where you’re taking her, she sucks in a sharp breath, but doesn’t have any smart ass comments to spit out.
     You step out of the car and head towards his gleaming gravestone. Even in the dark, it’s easy to find. You could make it to his little spot in the corner in your sleep. Putting a steady hand to the top of the smooth stone, you take the deepest breath of your life. Ivy is paralyzed by silence and stillness behind you, but you can hear her irregular breathing.
     “From the moment I met your father, I knew I would fall in love with him.” You turn to her, meeting her uncertain, glassy eyes. “He was the one for me. I am always going to love him. Miss him. Sometimes, I still can’t even believe he’s really gone.”
     She’s crying now. “Me neither.”
     “I’ve thought about it a lot, and I figured something out.” You press something cold and unwavering into her hand.
     Ivy opens her fingers and her eyes widen when she sees a shining ring. It’s a deep blue, like the ocean at night. “Is this—”
     You nod. “Sapphire. Your birthstone. Your dad has this made when you were just a baby . . . younger than Adrian. It was supposed to be a graduation present, or maybe a bridal gift.”
     Her hand is frozen as if she were afraid that if she moved, it would vanish. “So why are you giving it to me now?”
     “You think I’m moving on too fast. With Jinyoung. But you’re wrong, Ivy. I’m not moving on at all—your father isn’t really gone. He’s still here.” You twirl your wedding band around your finger. “I’ll never stop wearing this ring. Not even if I marry Jinyoung one day. This ring reminds me that he’s always with me.”
     Ivy slips her own ring onto one of her fingers. It fits perfectly. “You really believe that?”
     “With all my heart.” You throw your arms around her. “I can feel him in everything I do. He’s always going to be right by your side, Ivy. You know he would want me to be happy. To move on. Jinyoung makes me so happy.”
     Her crying continues. “Dad would love him, you know.”
     “You think so?” You pull back enough to see her red face.
     She nods roughly. “He’s so good to you. And even Adrian loves him. The kid always begs Jinyoung to pick him up with his best puppy-dog eyes. Oh, god, he must hate me. I’ve been such a bitch to him.”
     “You have been,” you agree, chuckling with her as you push some of her hair behind her ear. “But he loves you. He feels so bad, because he thinks that he makes things harder for you. Also, don’t ever let me hear you cuss again.”
     “Got it.”
                                                ~~~
     When the two of you get home, Jinyoung is half-asleep with Adrian curled into his lap with a look of satisfaction. Ivy was right; he does love Jinyoung. You pick your son up and nudge your eyebrows at Ivy before heading for your bedroom. It’s time to breastfeed Adrian so you can put him to bed. You can still hear every word in the living room.
     “Jinyoung,” says Ivy quietly. “I’m sorry I’ve been so mean to you. I know you’re just trying to do right by my mom.”
     “It’s okay,” he replies in his usual, gentle voice. “I understand. I don’t want you to think that I’d ever try to replace your father. I’m not him and I promise I’ll never pretend to be. I’m so sorry about what happened to him.”
     “I know. Thank you.” You hear a smile in her voice. “And I promise not to tell you go back to your own house, again.”
     Their soft laughter is the best thing you’ve heard in a long time. Ivy goes up the stairs, closing her bedroom door. A moment later, Jinyoung pokes his head into your room. He covers his eyes when he sees you breastfeeding, but you laugh.
     “Sorry,” he says, hands still over his face. “I didn’t know you were . . .”
     “It’s fine and I’m almost done. Breastfeeding is a natural thing. Women literally do it in public.” You’re done now. You walk over to him with Adrian in your arms. “Besides, nothing you haven’t seen before.”
     His face is on fire. You kiss his flushed cheek. “Don’t get too excited, Park Jinyoung; I still have to put him to bed.”
     You’re walking down the hall when he calls out, “I wasn’t excited!”
     “I’m only teasing.” You force yourself not to laugh at your own words. “. . . unless you don’t want me to be.”
In a perfect impression of your daughter, he pretends to vomit.
Librarian!AU with Jinyoung
moodboard link
Group: GOT7
Member: Park Jinyoung
Genre: fluff, romance
Type: Bulletpoint AU
Word Count: 1.4k
so Jinyoung works at the library’s circulation desk part time nearby a college campus
most of the time, it’s lil old ladies working there
highkey the type that everyone oogles over because he’s so handsome
like bro….
when Jinyoung was hired…….
it’s almost as if people started to come to the library more often…..
gee
I wonder why when the light hits just right and he’s got on his circle glasses with a book in hand
we love an educated man
anyways
to the actual librarian aspects
he’s actually really resourceful, especially to all the college students who come in and don’t know where the fuck to start on a paper that is literally due that night
but that ain’t gonna stop him from being like “you put this on yourself”
@Yugyeom
100% hunts people down about overdue books
the other librarians tell him it’s fine
but he remembers faces REALLY well
Jinyoung: “this library card is literally expired”
Jinyoung: “you’re the one that owes those overdue disks”
Jinyoung: “you owe 69 cents”
some student: “ah, you know what that means”
Jinyoung: “yeah, I do—get out”
Jinyoung: “Jackson, I’m not lending this out to you until you return Twlight: New Moon” :)
stupid people come in all the time but he knows it can be a lot worse
but like…… jesus christ
some of these people….... are just testing him
speaking of which, Jaebum def comes in to bother him all the time
not like bother bother, but like…….. bother
and with Jaebum comes the rest of got7 and that’s chaos alone
imagine Bambam in a quiet space
that’s right
you can’t
their visits to the library almost always end with them getting kicked out by Jinyoung himself
anyways there isn’t much to the job
checks people’s books out, organizing books, and that’s pretty much it
he probably organizes all the stuff he has to do and then chills at the front desk
80% of the time he’s reading a book there
it’s a real convenient job for Jinyoung, especially since he really likes quiet spaces
because everyone’s like studying or something, it makes him want to be productive too
and yeah people are awful
but at least they’re quiet (for most of the time)
so where do you come in?
you come in to study nearly every weeknight
there’s just so much work you have to do
and it’s insane
you need like a quiet space to work and the library’s just………
there
remember what I said about Jinyoung remembering faces?
he knows yours
most of the time, when he’s working, you’ll be at the table in the corner, working away
he admires your work ethic
(even though sometimes you’ll watch the strangest Youtube videos whenever you take a break)
it was kind of like this for a while
he would just be working and so would you
so what happens?
you lost your wallet
**cue you internally screaming as you rummage through your bag**
you literally have like a mental breakdown as you were back at your home
that literally had everything you needed
your ID card
bus pass
insurance cards
even the fucking buy 6 get 1 free for the froyo you love to get
now you have to start all over
you’re freaking the fuck out
and all of your friends tell you the same thing “retrace your steps and if you don’t find it, let the companies all know the situation”
so that’s where you start
you literally look through every nook and cranny as you retrace your steps
the last stop is at the library
you’re literally crawling on top and below the table, searching for the wallet you lost
Jinyoung’s working at the desk, as per usual
he’s literally just watching you scramble around
okay
not like that
but like no one is really here and you’re moving around so quickly
anyways
after like 15 minutes of searching, you walk up to the desk
you’ve literally been coming here for months and this is literally the first time you’ve walked up to the desk
Jinyoung acts like he doesn’t see you heading his way, making it look like he’s invested in his book
You: “ahem”
he looks at you with his glasses on the bridge of his nose
You: “has anyone brought up a wallet?”
when you were here earlier, Jinyoung may or may not had noticed a little wallet falling out of your bag as you packed your things to leave
Jinyoung: “I saw one earlier, but I’ll check if it’s still here”
you just wait at the desk, tapping on it as Jinyoung goes through the lost and found bin
he walks back up to the desk and gently places it down
Jinyoung: “I’m not sure if it is yours, so you should check it—”
you look overjoyed at the familiar patterned wallet
You: “thank you, thank you, thank you—I owe you my life”
you’ve grabbed ahold of his arms and your eyes sparkle at him like a savior
he’s a bit flustered from your thanks and smiles at you, as you continue to ramble
You: “you don’t understand, you literally saved from doing like 900 things to get all the stuff back; I will literally pay for your dinner or something. I literally am so grateful—”
you cut yourself off, realizing what that sounded like
You: “nevermind, cross that out, I’m so sorry, I’ll just leave or something before I look like an even bigger idiot—”
Jinyoung just chuckles at your rambling
Jinyoung: “sure”
You: “wait what”
Jinyoung has nothing to lose
you’re cute—he’s noticed you for a while
one date can’t hurt
Jinyoung: “I’ll let you take me out”
so you two set up a date
y’all went to dinner like you said
but, like a gentleman, he didn’t let you pay
Jinyoung: “you can pay on the next date”
dating Jinyoung is as cute as it sounds
there’s lots of cute, study dates when he’s working and you have things you have to do
but now you sit closer to the desk
and he spends a majority of the time near your table
he’s not a big PDA person, but with the look in his eyes anyone can tell y’all are together
anyways
it’s not just at the library, but y’all also chill at places like cafes and bookshops too
speaking of book shops
y’all go bookshop hopping a lot t
hey’re cute to go to
oooo AND he’ll probably read to you
imagine your head in his lap and his fingers are going through your hair and his voice
y’all
his voice
anyways
speaking of home dates
imagine him cooking for you
hmmmm
he would def do that bc Jinyoung is such boyfriend material
straight up he’s the ideal son-in-law
he’s smart
attractive
talented
well-mannered
I can literally go on for DECADES
okay but there’s like this weird switch
he’s usually so mature around you
but like..... as time goes
he’s also lowkey a child with you
like yes this man is domestic as hell but then again…..
there was this one time you were hanging with 97 line
y’all were making fun of him (out of love)
**cue Yugyeom singing shake it shake it for me**
(apparently he and Jaebum wrote a song in high school together and now none of got7 will ever let it go)
Jinyoung proceeded to glare at him
and you just kept laughing
two weeks later and he’s still pouty about it
You: come onnnnnnn
You: baby pls look at me
Jinyoung: why don’t you just keep singing instead
You: omg let it go
OOOH
SPEAKING OF SINGING
YO
karaoke dates are the bomb
they get even more lit with got7
the minute Big Bang is on, it gets real crazy
last time y’all got kicked out
because Youngjae kept running into the wall from dancing
and BamBam was on the table
but each time you go, Jinyoung will sing a ballad and you’re 100% whipped
it’s fine
y’all are both whipped for each other
he really takes care of you
and vice versa
y’all have a system
in summary: lots of fun dates and support and love for each other
My Youth (Chapter 8)
Broken and miserable, Park Jinyoung returns to his hometown to learn that no matter how hard he falls, there are still people who think he’s a hero.
Warnings: Angst, slow build, maybe some language.  (Please don’t ask when I’ll update. Wait until the series is finished to read if you’re impatient.) Also, cutiepie Jaebum in this chapter is dedicated to @dearbeommie cause she’s the only one who mentioned him last chapter lmao.
Word Count: 6k+
(Can’t put links to the other parts here, please check my Masterlist/the reblog for the Prologue and Chapters 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, and 6)
“Hey! Did you fill out that career-option form?”
You glanced at your classmate and nodded. “Yeah. I filled it in but I forgot to get my Mom to sign it, so I guess I’ll turn it in tomorrow. Are you guys done with yours?”
The other girl sighed. “I don’t even know what to put down as my career aspirations. How are you sure about what you want to do?”
You smiled. “I’ve been thinking about it for a long time now. I just need to talk to the teacher about what universities I should apply to and what entrance exams I should prepare for.”
“Lucky. I guess I’ll see you tomorrow?”
You waved goodbye to her before bouncing over to Park Jinyoung’s desk. He had his head buried in a textbook and was scribbling rapidly; ever since the final year of high school had begun, Jinyoung was never seen without his nose in some study material.
“Let me guess. Going to stay back late and study in the library again?” you asked him.
Jinyoung barely looked at you. His head stayed buried in the book and you could barely see his face. “I’ve almost solved this one. Don’t interrupt me.”
You sighed. “Okay, I’m going home then. Bye!”
Jinyoung let out a dismissive grunt and you playfully smacked  his head over his dark, messy hair. He flinched and glared at you but you quickly ran out of the classroom. Riling up Jinyoung when he was trying to focus never got old. You walked home happily before you suddenly remembered the career options form. You couldn’t forget to get it signed today. You took it out of your bag just as you entered the apartment.
“Mom!” you called out. She wasn’t working in the afternoon so you assumed she’d be home. You could hear her voice coming from the kitchen; she was on the phone. You fell silent to avoid interrupting the phone call.
“I know,” your mother was saying. She sounded agitated. “I’m just terrified of what she’ll say. What if she wants to study in Seoul? What if she wants to go to law school or study science? How am I going to afford to pay for all that? I’ve already taken out so many loans…”
You froze. This didn’t seem like a conversation your mother would want you to hear. You stepped back and quickly hid behind the doorway.
Your mother paused and then sighed. “I know… I know she’s a clever girl. But even if she gets a scholarship for her tuition, the living costs in Seoul itself are too much for me to bear. You know  how long you and Mr. Park have been saving up for Jinyoung's studies…”
There was another brief pause as Mrs. Park responded. Your mother sounded even more upset. “I can’t tell her that! How could I look her in the eye and tell her that I don’t have the money to give her the same opportunity as all her classmates? How could I call myself her mother? I’ll do something. I’ll work more hours, I’ll find a way to get another loan…”
Your eyes widened. No. You couldn’t make your mother work more. You looked down at the career form in your hand. ‘I want to be a pediatrician!’ you had written foolishly. That meant years of medical school in Seoul, then years of residency at a large university hospital… how would you pay for all that? With your mother’s sweat and tears?
You crumpled the paper up and took a deep breath. Plastering a smile onto your face, you stepped into the kitchen.
“Mom! I’m home, what’s for dinner?” you asked cheerfully.
--------------------
“Drink more, Yugyeom-ssi. You don’t have to worry; I’m buying tonight!”
Yugyeom looked nervously at all the top-shelf liquor that Jaebum had ordered. Even the bartender was surprised; he had never sold so much expensive wine and whisky in this small town before. But Jaebum had ordered multiple bottles in the very first round.
Yugyeom glanced at you doubtfully as if to ask, is this okay, noona?  You gave him a small nod and a reassuring smile. He shrugged and then reached for the whisky without hesitation. After he took his first shot and received a friendly slap on the back from Jaebum, he appeared to loosen up a little. Jaebum smiled at him.
“So, what’s it like being a cop? Must be an interesting job.”
Yugyeom flushed and rubbed the back of his neck. “Uh, not so much. We don’t get a lot of crime around here aside from the occasional bar fight or neighbourly quarrels. That’s why I was really excited when I heard Jinyoung-hyung was back!” Yugyeom perked up and beamed at Jinyoung. “I requested specifically to be given this assignment! I told the Chief you might be more comfortable with me since we went to high school together.”
Jinyoung took a sip of his wine nonchalantly. “Huh.”
Jaebum grinned. “What was Jinyoung like back in high school? Was he as uptight as he is now?”
Yugyeom glanced at Jinyoung nervously. “Uh… I guess he was always really focused on his studies? Sometimes he was nice to me and sometimes he wasn’t, so I could never really figure out what he was thinking,” he admitted sheepishly. “But he was really cool. One time he helped me with my math homework!”
You glanced at Jinyoung and noticed that he looked a little disgruntled. He had put on one of the new sweaters you bought him before coming out to the pub. It wasn’t the boyfriend sweater, but it was still a rather nice light blue one that made him look handsome. You nudged him and he raised an eyebrow at you.
“Not having fun?” you joked.
Jinyoung forced a smile. “Oh no, I’m having a great time,” he muttered.
You glanced down at your phone when it buzzed. “Oh, speaking of high school, I got a few messages from Jackson. I told him where we are, so he’s on his way down here to join us. Is that okay?”
Jinyoung’s eyes widened. “What? No! Why would you invite Jackson Wang down here?”
“Should I not have?”
Jinyoung closed his eyes in annoyance. The last thing he wanted was for Jackson Wang to come down here and run his big mouth. The man had a penchant for creating trouble wherever he went. But you seemed confused, and Jinyoung couldn’t think of a solid reason why Jackson Wang shouldn’t join their little drinking party.
“Tell him not to come, he’ll just start making a fuss. He could never handle his alcohol back when I knew him.”
“Too late, he’s almost here,” you replied simply. You turned to Jaebum in an attempt to change the subject of conversation. “Tell us more about this girlfriend you’re going to Europe with tomorrow. Have you been together long?”
A soft smile spread across Jaebum’s face and he looked a little flustered. Even the thought of his girlfriend seemed to make him happy. “Ah… yeah, she’s pretty awesome. She’s an accountant. I met her a couple of years ago. I guess I have Jinyoung to thank for that.”
Jinyoung coughed uncomfortably. “It’s not like I introduced her to you.”
“It was during the earlier years of the company. She’d come in for a job interview. I’m not sure what Jinyoung said to her, but she emerged from his office a sobbing mess. I ran into her in the lobby and told her how she’d dodged a bullet since Jinyoung was a shitty boss anyway,” Jaebum said with a cheeky grin.
You smiled. You’d never wondered what sort of a boss Jinyoung would be. Now that you thought about it, he had surely been a demanding perfectionist. “I assume that she didn’t get hired?”
Jinyoung rolled his eyes. “Her resume was a shabby mess, you should have seen it. If you must know, she actually thanked me the next time we met. The constructive criticism I gave her helped her land a different job.”
Jaebum chuckled. “And the emotional trauma led her to me. Thanks for the assist, boss.”
“You’re welcome.”
“Actually, I’m thinking of proposing to her. I was wondering if I should be cheesy and do it in Paris,” Jaebum admitted with a shy smile. “She dropped a hint about having to make a move on if we wanted to have kids and I figure since I don’t even have a job right now, I have all the time in the world to plan a wedding.”
Yugyeom’s eyes widened. “Wow… proposing in Paris! That sounds so cool,” he said wistfully.
Jaebum leaned back coolly. “Have you thought about getting married, Yugyeom?”
Yugyeom blushed and bowed his head. “I don’t even have a girlfriend. I don’t think a lot of girls want to settle down with a small town cop. Girls usually want to go live in the city with guys that have a nice career. That’s why my ex dumped me…”
Jinyoung blinked. “That’s not true. Plenty of girls want to stay in small towns. Right?”
You were silent until you realized Jinyoung was looking at you for an answer. You shifted uncomfortably. Did he mean to say that you were a girl who had wanted to stay in your small town? You forced a smile and nodded awkwardly.
“Uh… yeah. Yeah, there are plenty of girls who don’t care for Seoul. I’ll introduce you to someone soon, Yugyeom. Don’t worry.”
Yugyeom smiled. “Thanks, noona.”
You turned to Jinyoung. “Why haven’t you gotten married yet? I’m sure there must have been plenty of girls who were dying to get their hands on an eligible bachelor like you. You must have had plenty of offers.”
He looked startled at your question. Before Jinyoung could compose himself, Jaebum responded.
“Jinyoung mostly dated casually. But he did get pretty close to an engagement once!”
You blinked in surprise. “Did he?”
“There was a really pretty chaebol heiress who set her sights on him two or three years ago.  She took Jinyoung home to meet her parents and everything. Everybody thought it would be a good idea for a self-made guy like him to marry into a family of money,” Jaebum pointed out. “But Jinyoung dumped her before the engagement could be finalised.”
You felt your stomach flip. Had he really gotten that close? You had assumed that adult Jinyoung would be just as uninterested in women and relationships as teenage Jinyoung had been, but you realized now that had been foolish. He was nearly 30 and there was no way he hadn’t thought about marriage. Any rich family would be delighted to take Jinyoung in as a son-in-law. He had everything. Looks, manner, grace and until recently, even success.
“Why did you dump her?” you asked.
Jinyoung shifted uncomfortably. “I mean… it would have been a marriage of convenience and status. But I realized that her father expected me to dissolve my company and work for him. So I cut it off.”
“Oh,” you muttered, looking down at your hands. You weren’t sure why this made your stomach turn. So he would have married her if her father hadn’t gotten involved? “I guess this was one of those things you sacrificed for your company, then.”
Jinyoung looked at you sharply, his dark eyes piercing into yours. “No,” he said firmly. “This was something I sacrificed for my dignity. She expected me to comply with whatever he father wanted. I realized this family would eventually strip me of my independence.”
Jaebum scoffed. “Most men would have gladly given up a little independence to join a family like that.”
Jinyoung glared at him. “Then maybe you should have married her.”
“All right, relax.”
“Besides,” Jinyoung added with a frown. “I wasn’t sure if my parents would be able to deal with being in-laws to a family like that. Those chaebols lived in a lot of luxury and… well, they didn’t really respect people who didn’t. It would have been hard on my mother.”
Jaebum sighed. “I guess that part is true. Gotta keep your mother happy most of all, right? Mine even gave me the family ring to propose to my gifriend. Want to see?”
Yugyeom perked up. “I do! Is it expensive?”
“It’s really old, it’s been in my family for decades…”
Jaebum pulled out the engagement ring and Yugyeom began to fawn over it. You couldn’t bring yourself to pay attention. Your stomach was churning and you felt sick. What had you been expecting? That Jinyoung had been living a dull, bland life like you until now?
Ten years was a long time. Jinyoung had probably dated so many women, seen so many countries and experienced so many things. What was this town to him in his enormous world? A small dot that wasn’t even visible on a map? A distant memory that he thought of every now and then?
You looked at Jinyoung seated next to you. He was right there, soft hands gently wrapped around his wine glass as he looked at Jaebum’s ring with mild interest. His dark hair flopped into his face and his soft lips were stained with the cheap wine.
Jinyoung was right there. Less than a foot away from you.
So why did he suddenly seem so far away?
You were struck with the feeling that you’d missed out on so much. Like a child who has been left behind while all his friends go out to play, you felt alone and lost. You looked at Jinyoung and wondered exactly what else he’d done in the last ten years, exactly what had made him the person he was now.
You didn’t know any of that.
“Should we order more-”
“Hey guys! Sorry I’m late!” Jackson Wang boomed. He entered the pub noisily, just as he did almost everything else. He gave you a cheerful grin and turned to shake hands heartily with everyone at the table.
“Thanks for calling me over, Miss First Grade. And Officer Yugyeom! I haven’t seen you in a while, how are things down at the station? Don’t think that I haven’t noticed you’ve been avoiding me, Park Jinyoung. Oh... I don’t think we’ve met before. I’m Jackson Wang.”
Jaebum shook hands with him, bemused. “So I’ve heard. I’m Jinyoung’s friend, Im Jaebum.”
“Why wasn’t I invited to this little gathering?” Jackson demanded as he poured himself a glass of whisky.
Jinyoung frowned. “Does it matter? You managed to turn up anyway.”
“Sorry if I go a little heavy on the liquor tonight,” Jackson apologized before he promptly downed the entire glass. “I haven’t been able to touch any alcohol lately. My wife is pregnant and the smell makes her nauseous so now I’m not allowed to drink any either. She went to bed early tonight, though, so she won’t know a thing.”
You slowly tugged the glass away from Jackson. He seemed a little too optimistic for his own good. “She’ll be furious if you stumble back home drunk in the middle of the night,” you pointed out. Jackson frowned and sighed.
“Okay, fine. What were you folks talking about before I arrived?” he demanded.
Yugyeom piped up. “Jaebum-ssi was just showing us his engagement ring!”
Jackson leaned over the table to get a good look. The ring was certainly beautiful; it had a rather antique charm to it. “Wow. That’s amazing. I wish I could have afforded something like that when I proposed to Aeri. We had to get married in the local church.”
You smiled at Jackson warmly. “Your wedding was beautiful.”
Jackson grinned. “Yeah, it was, wasn’t it?” He turned to Jinyoung and elbowed him sharply. “I sent you an invite, you jerk. You never even responded. I would have asked you to be my Best Man if you’d been around. You’re the one who helped me and Aeri get together, after all.”
Jaebum raised an eyebrow in amusement. “Jinyoung helped you? Did he by any chance make your wife cry too?”
Jackson blinked. “What? No. He helped me confess my feelings to her over Christmas!”
You raised an eyebrow. You hadn’t heard this story before. Aeri had told you plenty of times that Jackson had asked her to be his girlfriend on the Christmas Eve after graduation, but you had no idea what Jinyoung had to do with that.
You glanced at Jinyoung. His face had turned pink. He reached over and grabbed Jackson’s sleeve.
“Jackson, maybe we don’t need to-”
“I was super nervous about confessing to Aeri. We’d been flirting around for a long time but I didn’t know if it was serious, you know? When Jinyoung came home from uni for Christmas, I really wanted to ask for his advice but it was hard to get him alone,” Jackson explained, ignoring Jinyoung’s panicked expression. “I finally told him about it during the Christmas Eve party at his house.”
Jaebum leaned forward eagerly. “Oh?”
Jinyoung took a deep breath. “Jackson, please don’t tell this story-”
Jackson ignored him and let out a delighted laugh. “Anyway, turns out this guy is working up the courage to confess to the girl he likes too! He coolly reached into his pocket and pulled out a handful of mistletoe,” Jackson roared. “And he handed me half and told me to go for it! He said to just hold up the mistletoe over Aeri and ask her to kiss me because he was planning on doing it too!”
You stared at Jinyoung, shocked. What? Jinyoung, carrying around mistletoe? Jinyoung, confessing to someone he liked over that Christmas break? Why did all of this sound completely new to you? If Jinyoung had truly liked someone then wouldn’t he have told you about it before telling his loudmouth classmate Jackson Wang?
“But-”
Jackson wasn’t done. “Anyway, I was still nervous so I decided to wait around until he came back. Jinyoung had gotten rejected but he didn’t even tell me, he just gave me another pep talk until I finally went up to Aeri with the mistletoe. He even kept watch near the park to make sure nobody would run into us!”
“Rejected?” you demanded, looking at Jinyoung. He was avoiding your gaze. “Who rejected Jinyoung?”
Jackson blinked at you.
“What a stupid question. You did.”
There was a long, awkward silence. Jinyoung suddenly stood up, his chair scraping back loudly in the pub. He took a shuddering breath and then stormed off towards the bathrooms, leaving the rest of the group in silence. You stared after him numbly and then looked at Jackson.
“You mean…”
Jackson nodded. “Come on. Jinyoung was crazy about you back then. He said that going to uni made him realize how much he really cared about you and that he was going to make you his girlfriend no matter what. You didn’t know that?”
Your throat closed up.
“No,” you whispered. “No, I didn’t.”
------------------------------------------------------
“Sweetheart, are you sure you don’t want to give the college entrance exams another try next year? Maybe you could go to law school, or even study engineering...”
You glanced at your mother while you shifted the cookies into a large box for the party later that evening. She had been catching on to your well-kept secret; she knew that you weren’t happy at the local college. The faculty was poor and classes were dull and unchallenging. The only  advantage the university offered was that it was cheap, and that you could afford to attend while living at home.
But your mother couldn’t know that.
Your mother couldn’t know that you were unhappy.
“That just sounds like such a pain, Mom,” you told her lightly. It was getting harder and harder to come to terms with the fact that all your friends had left to do fancy degrees in Seoul while you were still here. But you knew hearing that would break your mother’s heart. You couldn’t make her work for your education. It wasn’t worth it. “Why would I want to give the entrance exams again? I’ll just pass the teaching certification course and then I can get a job teaching. The elementary school here always has vacancies.”
Your mother sighed. “Of course it had vacancies, but is that what you want? We could always take out a loan if money is the problem-”
You frowned at her. “Did I tell you money is the problem?”
“No, but…”
“Then let’s not talk about this,” you replied. You smiled and showed her how you’d arranged the cookies in the shape of a little Christmas tree in the box. “Isn’t this pretty?”
Your mother smiled. “It’s lovely, dear.”
“I’m going to head over to the Parks’ with these,” you told her as you sealed the box. “Mrs. Park probably needs help setting up since the party is at their house, and I haven’t seen much of Jinyoung since he just came back. You’ll come later, right?”
She nodded. “Go ahead.”
You grabbed the cookie box and moved towards the front door. Your mother had been extremely persistent about convincing you to try and change to a college in Seoul, even though you both knew that you couldn't afford it. You had overheard her conversations with Mrs. Park and had even heard her asking Jinyoung if you were telling the truth about wanting to be an elementary school teacher.
You couldn’t even tell your best friend about your pipe dreams, in case he went and told your mother and upset her.
You took a deep breath and forced a smile. You could do this. It was okay. What was so bad about being a teacher? You’d get to interact with cute little kids and you wouldn’t have to work insane hours. It was probably for the best, right?
You sighed.
Oh, well. At least Jinyoung was back.
Maybe he’d have some interesting stories to tell about Seoul.
---------------------
When Jinyoung returned to the table, he looked a little more composed. He sat down and took a deep breath. Everyone stared at him. Your own heartbeat was thudding as you waited for an explanation. What was going on? Why did you and Jackson seem to have completely different ideas about what happened that Christmas Eve?
Jinyoung turned to blink at Jackson. “I, uh, I actually didn’t confess to her that night,” he admitted slowly and quietly. His words sounded strained and you hated that he wasn’t looking at you. Weren’t you the one who deserved an explanation? He sighed and kept his eyes on Jackson. “I lied. I chickened out and didn’t do it. I lied and told you I got rejected because I didn’t want you to chicken out too.”
Jackson stared at him. “Well, shit.”
“So you actually had feelings for me?” you blurted out.
Jinyoung glanced at you and turned his hands back down to his lap. His cheeks were pink and he was biting his wine-stained lips nervously. Then he looked up at you and nodded.
“Yeah. Yeah, I did,” he mumbled.
You struggled not to flush in embarrassment. How? How had you not known that your best friend had feelings for you? Had it been that night of the party? The night that Jinyoung suggested the two of you meet on the bridge? Your mind whirled as you tried to remember the events of that night. What had you discussed? How had you been so ignorant of his feelings?
Why didn’t he tell you the truth?
Why was your heartbeat thudding at the mere thought of Jinyoung asking you to be his girlfriend?
You cleared your throat and forced a smile. Jinyoung looked embarrassed. He evidently hadn’t wanted to talk about this and you could understand why. He had dated chaebol heiresses and beautiful models since high school. What kind of successful man would want to admit that he’d once had a crush on the girl next door?
His standards had been different then.
Jinyoung had been different then.
He was probably ashamed. You didn’t want to prolong his embarrassment even more. You simply reached out for your glass of wine and emptied it down your throat, before smiling around at the awkward expressions of everyone around you.
“Funny how things happen,” you mused lightly. “Does anyone want another drink?”
Yugyeom held out his glass and squeaked.
“Yes, please.”
----------------------------------------------
Jinyoung avoided your gaze for the rest of the night.
Jackson tried hard to liven up the mood again, albeit a little forcefully, and managed to get poor Yugyeom to divulge a few embarrassing stories about himself. The conversation flowed after that but Jinyoung sat silently and kept drinking. It was only when the pub began to close that you all trickled out onto the street. Jackson insisted on going home to his wife, leaving the rest of you to stumble back to the closest home: the Parks’.
After a brief whispered discussion it was agreed that Yugyeom would sleep on the couch. You would take the guest bedroom, and Jaebum would crash on the floor in Jinyoung’s room. You tiptoed up the stairs so as not to wake Mr. and Mrs. Park and then lied in the guest room.
You couldn’t sleep.
You should have slept like a baby after all that wine, but you kept thinking about Jinyoung. You kept thinking about how Jinyoung had wanted to confess to you. You kept thinking about the fact that at some point in time, he had wanted you to be his girlfriend.
You imagined Jinyoung holding a sprig of mistletoe above your head and leaning in to kiss you with his soft lips. You imagined hugging him in that warm sweater and cuddling into his chest. You imagined him whispering something sweetly into your ear and then kissing you until your lips were swollen. You imagined running your fingers through Jinyoung’s soft, dark hair.
Oh god.
You sat upright in bed and rubbed your eyes. You couldn’t do this. You couldn’t start picturing these things now. Jinyoung’s romantic interest in you had been a decade ago. He had dated so many women since then. He had even considered marrying one. Wasn’t this proof that his feelings were a small thing of the past? Just the passing crush of a hormonal, adolescent teenage boy whose best friend was a girl?
It was nothing. Why should it matter now?
It shouldn't. You wouldn’t let it.
You couldn’t.
You tried to sleep for almost an hour before you finally tiptoed downstairs. Yugyeom was mumbling under his breath and snoring intermittently on the couch so you snuck past him into the kitchen. The light was already on. Jinyoung was standing there in his slippers with a glass of water and he looked up at you, startled.
“Uh…”
Your heart skipped a beat at the sight of Jinyoung’s slightly dishevelled hair and his soft eyes. His cheeks were still flushed pink from all the drinking. He folded his arms across his chest and stared down at the floor to avoid your gaze.
“Couldn’t sleep either?” you asked him casually, trying to compose yourself. You reached for a glass from the shelf and slowly filled it with some water.
Jinyoung cleared his throat and nodded. “Uh, yeah. I forgot how badly Jaebum snores when he’s had too much to drink. Haven’t roomed with him since college,” he muttered.
“Are you going to keep avoiding me?”
Jinyoung looked startled. He swallowed and then shook his head quickly. His lips were pressed together. “I’m not avoiding you-”
“But you won’t even look at me.”
“I’m just…” Jinyoung sighed and dropped his arms to his sides. His shoulders slumped as he let out a dry chuckle. “I’m just embarrassed. Sorry.”
You nodded. “I’ll admit I was kind of caught off guard, but there’s nothing to be embarrassed about. I mean, we were teenagers back then. It wasn’t that serious. We had innocent crushes all the time, right? I even had a bit of a crush on Jackson when he joined the basketball team and got all buff,” you replied dismissively. Jinyoung merely stared at you. You couldn’t read the expression in his eyes.
“Right,” he said slowly. ”Except it wasn’t just a crush.”
You froze. “Huh?”
“I might as well tell you everything while the wine is still in my system,” Jinyoung replied with a frown. You were shocked when he stepped closer to you and looked you straight in the eyes. “I’ve liked you since high school. At first I kept quiet about it because it seemed so awkward and I didn’t think you’d take it well. I kept telling myself what you just said; that it was a passing crush because you were getting prettier day by day, and that it would fade in some time.”
“Oh,” you mumbled.
“But it didn’t. I tried dating other girls in college but nothing worked. Jaebum would take me out on group dates and I would just sit there feeling uncomfortable. I would sit there wishing I was with you. None of them could ever compete with you. If they were as smart as you, then they weren’t as kind-hearted. If they were as kind-hearted, then they weren’t as funny. If they were funny, then they weren’t as beautiful. It drove me crazy until I decided that I’d never find anyone like you. I made up my mind to confess my feelings to you over Christmas break. I wanted to make you mine.”
Your stomach exploded in butterflies. You had never imagined Jinyoung looking down at you like this, whispering these things to you in this dimly-lit kitchen. You swallowed and stared up at him nervously.
“What happened that Christmas Eve?” you whispered. “You’re not the type to chicken out.”
“I made a choice,” Jinyoung muttered.
“What choice?”
“I realized that I was being selfish. Even if you agreed to be my girlfriend, you didn’t want to go to Seoul,” Jinyoung muttered. “You wanted to stay here in this town. You wanted to get married and have kids and be a teacher and live a quiet life. You wanted to be with your mother. What was the point in asking you to be my girlfriend when our lives were headed in such different directions? I couldn’t give you what you wanted. I didn’t want to settle down in this small town. I was just starting to achieve bigger dreams.”
You felt weak. “Oh.”
Jinyoung took a deep, shuddering breath as he closed his eyes. “I didn’t want you to be a fling. I didn’t want you to be a long-distance relationship that fell apart eventually. I didn’t want to promise you forever and confess to you carelessly, while knowing there would be a time-limit for our relationship. What if things only got bitter between us? What if we began to resent each other for not compromising on our lifestyles? What if you had the chance to find a man who loved you and wanted the same life you wanted? I couldn’t be responsible for stopping you from finding him.”
You wrapped your arms around yourself quietly. “I see,” you whispered. “So you made a choice.”
Jinyoung nodded. “You know what I chose.”
“I do,” you replied. Your eyes filled with tears as you looked up at him. “You put your choice into effect pretty instantly, didn’t you, Jinyoung? That night was the last night you spoke to me for ten years.”
Jinyoung bit his lip. “It was too difficult for me-”
“It was pretty damn difficult for me, too.”
“I…” Jinyoung paused. His throat had closed up. “I’m sorry.”
You cleared your throat and wiped away your tears with the back of your sleeve quickly. You didn’t want Jinyoung to see you crying. You didn’t want him to know that you were mourning what you had lost; all those opportunities, all that time.
“Anyway,” you muttered quietly. “It was all in the past and you can’t possibly still have feelings for me after all these years, so it doesn’t matter-”
“Why do you think it’s not possible for me to still having feelings for you?”
You stared up at him with shocked wide eyes. “Do you?”
“You haven’t changed at all,” Jinyoung pointed out with a soft, wistful smile. “You’re still the same person.”
“But you’ve changed. A lot.”
Jinyoung looked at his feet and bit his lip nervously. His dark hair covered his eyes and when he looked up at you, it suddenly didn’t seem like he had changed. He was the same Park Jinyoung that you’d known all your life. Those were the same brown eyes and the same caring expression. Only now, he was making your heart leap.
“I guess I have changed a little,” Jinyoung admitted softly. “There are some things I would choose differently now, if I had the choice to choose again.”
“What does that mean?”
Jinyoung smiled wistfully.
“It means that if you ever see me carrying mistletoe around then this time, you don’t have to wonder who it’s for.”
----------------------------
“Jinyoung!” you greeted him happily as you watched him approaching. The Christmas Eve party was taking place at the Parks’ home but JInyoung had texted you to meet him by the bridge. His house was full of neighbours and you’d barely managed to get a word in with him all day. “Why did you want to meet out here?”
Jinyoung shrugged lightly. He was bundled up in his winter coat, hands stuck in his pockets. “Just because the house was so crowded and we couldn’t talk properly.”
You grinned. “Your Mother always has to throw a party on Christmas Eve.”
“And then she complains about how her back aches all of next day,” Jinyoung replied with a cheeky smile as he reached you. He turned towards the railing and looked down at the dark river flowing beneath the bridge. “I missed being here.”
You smiled. “You probably did. That’s why I never want to leave.”
Jinyoung raised an eyebrow. “Never? Come on. Your Mom told me earlier that she’s trying really hard to convince you to switch to a college in Seoul. You might be a year behind everyone else but it’s still worth it, right? Seoul is amazing. I could show you the Han River and the trains are amazing-”
You felt something stir in your stomach. You wanted to see what Jinyoung was talking about. You wanted so badly to go with him and study medicine, to become a doctor and help save lives. But that wasn't an option for you. It was better not to think about it.
“I’m okay. I’ve never been as ambitious as you, Jinyoung. I think I’ll settle down here.”
Jinyoung blinked. “Here?”
“Yeah. I like it here. I can be close to my Mom. I’ll become a local elementary school in a few years, and I’ll marry a nice man who won’t mind my mother living with us and I’ll have lots of cute kids,” you replied brightly. You turned to look at JInyoung and saw that he wasn’t smiling. You nudged him slightly. “What are you going to do? Marry some rich heiress and inherit her fortune?”
Jinyoung looked offended. “Hey. I’ll make my own fortune.”
You giggled. “Just a suggestion.”
“But I mean, you really…” Jinyoung took a deep breath and bit his lip. “You really don’t want to do anything more with your life? You know you’re smart. You don’t have to rush to get married. If you just studied at a better college then you could get a job in Seoul and you could live a much better life-”
“This is my better life,” you replied firmly. You couldn’t let yourself be carried away by fancies. “I don’t want anything else. This is what I genuinely want.”
“Really?” he whispered.
You laughed at him. “Why are you trying so hard to change my mind? If you think getting a job in Seoul and going to a prestigious college is so great, then do it yourself! We don’t have to agree on something like that. Everyone is different, Jinyoung.”
Jinyoung forced a smile. “I thought we were kind of similar.”
“Maybe not enough.”
Jinyoung shoved his hands in his pockets, fingers closing around the small sprig of mistletoe that was hidden deep inside. It suddenly seemed like a small and useless twig.
“Maybe not enough,” he echoed.
You walked into your father's company, greeting people on your way to the elevator, some of them you had known for years, way before you worked there. Other employees piled up in the elevator and you pressed the 45th floor button. Every couple of floors, the doors opened and people would get off the elevator, others getting in. On the 38th floor, the door opened and three people walked in. One of them definitely caught your attention, making you smile.
It was weird how the other people in the elevator didn't notice you stealing glances at each other. Maybe you were just that good. Luckily, everyone but the two of you got off on the 43rd floor, leaving you alone.
“I missed you.” Jinyoung crossed the small space over to you.
“I missed you more.” You pulled him by his tie crashing your lips into his.
His hands immediately found their way to your hips pulling you even closer as your hands cupped his face. It wasn't often that the two of you had some time alone, especially outside yours or his apartment. Keeping your relationship hidden when everyone knew you or your father wasn't easy. But you managed to do it through weekends spent at hotel rooms on the outskirts of town and numerous road trips where your brother covered for you.
When the annoying ‘ding’ echoed through the closed space, the two of you pulled away before the doors opened.
“See you around Mr. Park.” You smiled before stepping out of the elevator.
“See you around Ms. Kim.”
Your Louboutins clicked against the marble floor as you walked towards the conference room where a meeting was being held. But before that, you stopped by the break room to get yourself some coffee. Mrs. Jeon was preparing coffee and tea for the meeting and even after she declined it several times, you ended up giving her a hand.
When you finally walked into the conference room, you spotted Jinyoung sitting at the coffee table. His suit jacket was draped across the chair he was sitting on and his sleeves were rolled up to his elbows. Saying that he looked good was an understatement. Jinyoung seemed as surprised as you but he couldn't help but smirk at the fact that you were shamelessly checking him out.
You helped Mrs. Jeon handing out coffee to everyone in the room, your hand staying a little longer than it should on Jinyoung's shoulder when you placed his coffee in front of him. Meanwhile, your brother, aware of what was going on between the two of you rolled your eyes from across the table.
After Mrs. Jeon left the room, you took a seat in the only available spot between your father and your brother, Mingyu. Once you sat down, you realized that Mingyu had left that seat available on purpose so that you could sit in front of Jinyoung and he seemed pretty proud of himself for doing so.
Trying your best to ignore Jinyoung sitting in front of you looking like that, you got your notepad out of your Chanel bag and started taking notes. Honestly, you weren't really interested in the meeting, but you had to be there since one day, in a not so far future, the company would be run by you and Mingyu. Glancing over at your brother, you realized that he was as bored as you as he scribbled some information down on his own notepad.
Once the meeting was finally over, people started leaving the room, shaking your father's hand by the door. You and Mingyu stayed back since your father mentioned he wanted to talk to you. When there was no one else in the room but the three of you, he closed the door.
“So (Y/N)” Your father started “Are you seeing anyone?”
You visibly tensed up at his words. He knew. It's not that you were embarrassed about your relationship with Jinyoung, but your father had a strict policy when it came to dating co-workers. And obviously, he wasn't going to fire you so everything would fall on Jinyoung's shoulders. Besides, if your father ever found out that Jinyoung had broken the company's rule with his daughter, you were positive that Jinyoung would never find a job in another company.
“No.” You shrugged “Why?” You raised your eyebrows suspiciously.
“Great.” He was over the moon with your answer.
“What do you mean great?”
“You'll see. Do any of you have plans tomorrow night?”
“No.” You and Mingyu shook our heads.
“Then we can set up a dinner at our house tomorrow.”
Mingyu exchanged a confused look with you, your eyebrows furrowed as you turned to your father, waiting for him to elaborate.
“Don't worry (Y/N), you're going to enjoy it.”
It couldn't be good. No. Since when did your father care about your love life? Something was off and you had a feeling you weren't going to like it.
After parting ways with Mingyu, you grabbed your phone and texted Jinyoung.
[You]: Meet me in our spot
[Jinyoung]: Be there in 10
The elevator ride up to the roof was filled with anxiety. Your father's sudden interest in your love life worried you. But once Jinyoung's lips were on yours, your worries melted and the slight breeze carried them away. Your expensive bag was long forgotten on the concrete floor as your hands cupped his face lovingly.
When Jinyoung pulled away before leaving one last peck on your lips, his own stained with your lipstick, he smiled at you.
“Do you have plans tomorrow?”
When you were reminded of your plans, your anxiety came back and you unconsciously squeezed his hand that was intertwined with yours.
“Yeah, I do.” You looked down at your feet.
“What is it?” Jinyoung brought his free hand to your chin, gently lifting your head up so that you could look at him.
“It's just…” You sighed “My dad asked me if I was seeing someone and…”
“Does he know?” Jinyoung cut you off, wide-eyed.
“No, he doesn't.” You reassured “But he invited me and Mingyu to have dinner at his house tomorrow night.” You paused “I have a bad feeling about this.”
Jinyoung relaxed, glad that you hadn't been caught and pulled you in for a hug. You took a deep breath and inhaled his scent. It felt like home, more than the house you spent your childhood in, more than the expensive apartment your father gave you when you started working at his company. Home isn't exactly a place with four walls and a roof and you only realized that when you met Jinyoung. Home is a place where you feel safe, happy and comfortable. To you, home was Jinyoung.
He pressed soft kisses to your temple as his hands rubbed your back soothingly.
“It's okay.” He reassured you “Don't stress about it.”
You only moved when his phone rang in his pocket. You tried to pull away but he kept an arm around your waist as he accepted the call with his other hand. His chest vibrated as he spoke, probably to his superior who was asking yelling where he was. After Jinyoung assured him he'd be back soon, he hung up.
“I have to go.” He pouted “But how about this. Tonight after work I’ll come over and run you a bath so that you can relax.” He suggested.
“Sounds good.” You smiled.
After a couple of kisses, he finally left although he whined like a little kid before you convinced him that he had to get back to work or else he'd be in trouble.
Jinyoung kept his promise. He came over that night with a bag full of different bath bombs and candles for you to pick. While he got things ready, you sat on the counter in nothing but a bathrobe looking at him. Jinyoung was wearing a hoodie and sweatpants but he still managed to look breathtaking. Once he was done, you got in the bathtub, the warm water immediately relaxing your tense muscles. Letting out a loud sigh of relief, you looked up at your boyfriend with a smile.
“Thank you.”
“Do you need anything else?”
“Stay.” You pleaded.
Jinyoung complied and sat on the floor next to the bathtub.
“No. Get in here.” You pointed at the bathtub.
He smirked before standing up to take off his clothes, slipping into the bathtub behind you, your back against his chest.
You turned your head to kiss him and he happily kissed back as his hands traveled down your torso. Later that night, the two of you ended up cleaning a lot of water from the bathroom floor in between giggles with a pleasant soreness in your thighs.
The next day went just fine until you went home to get ready for that mysterious dinner party your father was throwing. As you picked an outfit, the same anxiety from the day before settled in your chest again. You tried to keep Jinyoung's words in your mind so that you wouldn't call your father and tell him you were sick before inviting Jinyoung over so that the two could watch some Netflix cuddled up on the couch.
You were the last one to arrive since you lived a bit further away when compared to Mingyu. There were a few unfamiliar faces at the table but your father was quick to introduce them to you.
“(Y/N), this is Mr. Im. He's one of my business partners.” You gave the older man a handshake “This is his wife, Mrs. Im.” You smiled at the woman before shaking her hand “And this is their son, Jaebum.”
Your eyes followed your father's finger landing on a man around your age with black hair parted in the middle and dark brown eyes. His body language showed how tense and uncomfortable he was with being there and you couldn't blame him. You felt the same way, but you did a better job at hiding it. But when his eyes met yours, Jaebum shot you a warm smile making him look like a completely different person and also making you wonder how fake that smile was.
“Nice to meet you.” Jaebum spoke, bowing a little.
“You too.” You bowed as well.
When you glanced at your father, out of the corner of your eye, he looked so happy with the little interaction between you and Jaebum and bad feeling you had, came back but stronger. There was a high chance your father was trying to set you up with Jaebum.
And you really didn't have a choice. In your lifestyle, ending up marrying people you didn't love for the sake of business partnerships was common. You were pretty sure that was how your parents met although they always dodged your questions about that subject. You just thought that by being forced to end up with someone they didn't love or at least knew enough to love would've pushed them away from the thought of doing the same to their kids. Apparently, you were wrong.
Throughout dinner, your parents kept telling you random achievements Jaebum had. Oh, Jaebum graduated college top of his class. Oh, Jaebum is friends with the famous fencer Jackson Wang. Oh, Jaebum cured cancer. Oh, Jaebum went to the moon. It was so obvious what they were doing that you just wanted to roll your eyes. But instead, you smiled and replied that's great because what else could you say? You didn't know him and you weren't interested.
When the dinner party was finally over, you were the first one to leave, desperate to sleep and for the comfort of Jinyoung's arms. After throwing your keys on the bowl by the door and taking your shoes off, you grabbed your phone and texted Jinyoung despite it being almost 1 am.
[You]: Are you up?
[Jinyoung]: Yeah. How did the dinner go?
[You]: My dad is trying to set me up with someone
[Jinyoung]: Do you want me to come over?
[You]: No, it's late. Get some rest
[Jinyoung]: I'm on my way. Be there in 10
[You]: Thank you
Ten minutes later, your front door opened and Jinyoung walked in while you were in the process of lazily removing your makeup. Without saying a word, he took the makeup wipe from your hand and gently started to rub your face removing all traces of makeup. Your eyes were half-open as you played with the strings of his hoodie. Jinyoung's presence was enough to calm you down, making it harder for you to keep your eyes open.
“I don't like him.” You mumbled against Jinyoung's chest.
“I know.” He reassured as he gently placed you on the bed.
“They're business partners. His father and mine.”
You stared at Jinyoung's back as he rummaged through your closet to get you something comfortable to sleep in.
“Let me guess. Your relationship is supposed to strengthen their partnership.”
“Probably.” You yawned.
“So you guys really like supposed to date?” He asked as he turned around.
“Yeah, I think that's how my parents met.”
“So does that mean you'll end up marrying him?”
Your lack of response surprised him. But to be honest, you didn't know it either. You hoped not, since you were going to be forced to marry someone you didn't love especially if it meant letting go of the one you loved.
“I hope not but…” You hesitated “It's a possibility.”
It was his turn to stay silent as he set the clothes he picked on the bed.
“We’ll figure it out.” He reassured you.
But by the look in his eyes, you knew he wasn't too sure of his words. And God knows you weren't either.
The excuses your father would make up so that you could spend time alone with Jaebum were ridiculous. Sometimes he'd invite the two of you for lunch but then get stuck in a last minute meeting when in fact there was no meeting at all, you checked. That got you dozens of awkward lunches alone with the man your parents picked for you.
After a while, Jaebum got the hint and started inviting you for lunch. And over the time you got to know each other, you started to like him. Not in the same way you liked Jinyoung, far from that, but like a friend. In other circumstances, you could've been great friends. Your parents were delighted that you were spending time with him. You, on the other hand, weren't. It was inevitable what was going to happen, you knew where everything was leading to. But you kept ignoring it, spending every free second you had with Jinyoung knowing that you were running out of time.
Jinyoung knew about your lunch “dates”. Not from you, but because it was the talk of the company. Everyone cooed at how cute it was that you fell in love with someone in the same lifestyle as you and especially because Jaebum's father was one of your father's business partners. What they didn't know was that in your lifestyle, few were the ones who got to marry who they truly loved.
You kept reassuring Jinyoung in every way you knew how. But after a while, you knew the things you said sounded more like excuses. Fights started happening offer. Harsh words were thrown at each other and it'd always end with the door slamming.
“Then why the fuck are you still with him?” Jinyoung yelled.
You opened your mouth to reply but he beat you to it.
“Because you don't have a choice, I know.” He answered his own question, a sarcastic tone evident in his voice.
“I really don't.” You yelled back “But if you don't want to believe me when I tell you that I only love you then it's your fucking problem!”
You stared at each other in silence for a few seconds, breathing heavy and hearts racing, hoping that the winner of your stupid fight would be determined by a staring contest.
Your phone ringing on the coffee table made you look away from each other and the both of you glanced at your phone. Jaebum's name was displayed across the screen deepening the frown in Jinyoung's handsome features.
“Why is he calling you at this hour?”
“I don't know…” You didn't like that his question sounded more like an accusation.
Jinyoung glared at you as if you were lying to his face. You glared back aware that your phone kept ringing. The sound that usually sounded pleasant to your ears was annoying you in that moment.
With a sigh, you grabbed the phone, not missing the way Jinyoung's eyebrows raised in disbelief.
“Hello?”
“Hi (Y/N), how are you?”
“I'm good how about you?” You tried to sound cheerful although you were far from it.
“I'm good, thank you.” He paused “Listen, my parents, asked me to invite you and your family to a dinner party at my house Friday night.”
“Friday?” Jinyoung perked up “Uh, sure. I'll talk to them.”
“Great see you Friday.”
“See you Friday.” You said before hanging up.
You hadn't even put your phone down when Jinyoung started arguing again.
“We have plans on Friday.” He crossed his arms over his chest.
“I know, I'm sorry but this involves my family as well.”
“So you're just gonna cancel our plans?”
“I don't have an option.”
“Bullshit. You could’ve said no!”
“Jinyoung, please understand that…” You tried to reason with him but he wasn't having it.
“How do I even know that you're not fucking him behind my back? Because after all, he's your boyfriend and not me!”
If his words weren't enough to hurt you, the look in his eyes was. Your fists clenched and you took a deep breath before you said something that'd make the situation even worse.
“Get out.” The cold tone in your voice surprised the both of you.
“What?”
“Out.”
His expression softened and he took a step towards you but you stepped back. With a sad sigh, he grabbed his things and left, quietly shutting the door behind him, unlike how it had been lately.
Jinyoung's words made your chest ache and tears well up in your eyes and for the first time in a long time, you allowed yourself to cry.
☆.。.:*・°☆.。.:*・°☆.。.:*・°☆.。.:*・°☆ .。.:*・°☆.。.:*・°☆.。.:*・°☆.。.:*・
Friday came quickly, although you felt every second. Jinyoung's words didn't leave your mind and you were sure that they didn't leave his either. You knew that from the amount of unopened texts on your phone. You knew that from the cups of coffee and the boxes of pastries from your favorite bakery on your desk every morning. You knew that from the little post-it notes he left asking you to meet at your spot. You didn't text back, you didn't drink the coffee or eat the pastries and you didn't show up.
As you got ready for the dinner, you decided to wear a full face of makeup hoping it'd conceal your tired expression and your sadness. Jinyoung was still the only thing on your mind as you drove to Jaebum's house. Jinyoung was still the only thing on your mind throughout the entire dinner. Jinyoung was still the only thing on your mind when Jaebum asked for a moment after dessert, grabbed your hand making you stand up, went down on one knee and pulled a little velvet box out of his pocket. Jinyoung was still the only thing on your mind when you said yes.
From the time you got to know Jaebum, you learned to read his eyes. His face didn't show all lot of emotion but his eyes betrayed him most of the time. And in his eyes, you saw the same thing he probably saw in yours. Neither of you wanted to do it. Yet, in front of your families, the two of you forced yourselves to smile and hug after he slipped the shiny ring on your finger. In front of your families, you were nothing but puppets who played your part to keep them entertained.
And when you were finally free from them, wanting nothing but to cry in Jinyoung's arms, Mingyu shot you a sympathetic smile as he got in his car. That was enough for you to break down in tears as you started the car.
You drove to the only place where you knew you'd feel safe, the fight you had with him a few days prior was long forgotten. Knocking on his door, you wiped your tears with your left hand. Jinyoung opened the door, his eyes immediately spotted the ring.
“I'm sorry.” You sobbed.
He pulled you into his chest and closed the door. To be honest, you don't remember much of what happened that night, only that you cried yourself to sleep until the early hours of the morning as Jinyoung rubbed your back and whispered sweet nothings into your hair.
And little did you know that things were going to get worse for you. Because when you woke up later that day, the heaviness in your chest still present along with a newly arrived headache Jinyoung was nowhere to be seen. And when he finally walked in, dressed up for work, loosening his tie, he seemed surprised that you were awake.
No one said anything and the tension in the room was palpable.
“We need to talk.” You both said at the same time.
You sat at the kitchen table, fumbling with your hands in your lap as you waited for him to talk.
“I think we should stop seeing each other.”
Your head snapped up to meet his eyes, finding them already on you. There was no trace of happiness, jokes, sadness or anger. Nothing.
“What?”
“You're going to get married, it's the right thing to do.”
“But I love you…” Your voice weak like a child being scolded.
“I love you too.” He paused “But that's not enough.”
“But…”
“We...we're from different worlds, things could never work between us. I'm surprised how we lasted so long.”
You blinked your tears away but your efforts were in vain. Once tears started streaming down your face, Jinyoung looked away from you. Seeing you cry would make him cry and then you'd end up crying in each other's arms apologizing over and over.
“Please...don't do this.” You shook your head.
“You're going to marry Jaebum, you're going to fall in love with him, you're going to have kids that will be as beautiful as you and you'll forget all about me. One day my name will be nothing but a faint memory of the one who loved you before you realized what true love was.”
“No…” You sobbed.
“(Y/N)” Jinyoung's hands reached for yours across the table, giving it a light squeeze “It's for the best.”
But it wasn't. Breaking up with you was the worst thing Jinyoung could do to you or himself. And no matter how much you begged, he didn't change his mind. When you left his apartment with a box of all your stuff in your hands, adding to the heaviness in your chest and your headache, you had a broken heart.
Over the next two months, you were barely at the company. Your mother insisted you were involved in the wedding preparations. Flowers, venues, bridesmaids, dresses, guests, invitations, band, the wedding theme, you handled everything. Jaebum tried his best to help you but he looked really clueless as you gave him a list of flowers you could have at your wedding. After that, you'd just inform him of what you chose and only required his presence when it came to the food served at the wedding and the cake.
When you were at the company, you were in and out of meetings. Jinyoung was also there. It was hard to sit in the same room as him when you weren't together anymore, it was hard to look at him. You hadn't spoken since he broke up with you and it was almost better that way. That didn't stop him from stealing glances at you though. During the meetings, his eyes were either on you, on the ring on your left hand or on his notepad where they should be all the time.
Mingyu was a great support to you throughout the entire process of planning a wedding you didn't want while brokenhearted. He was here when you broke down crying from stress mixed with anxiety and sadness. He was there for the bad moments and for the rare good ones.
During the rehearsal dinner, your parents and Jaebum's were trying to decide where you'd live after the wedding.
“I'm guessing you don't want a house too big at first am I right?” Mrs. Im asked.
“Nonsense.” Your mother replied before you even opened your mouth “They're going to need a big house for when they have kids.”
Your eyes widened and without noticing you dropped your fork making it clink loudly against the plate. Everyone at your table stared at you and you smiled nervously as you tried to come up with an excuse.
“How many kids do you think I'm going to have to need a house that big mother? Besides, my apartment is perfect for now.”
“(Y/N) dear, you can have as many kids as you want. Money is not a problem and you can hire as many nannies as you need.”
You clenched your fists, the metal of the fork digging into your skin as you glared at your mother. But before you could say something that'd probably ruin the rest of the dinner for everyone, Jaebum spoke.
“(Y/N) is right. Kids are not our number one priority right now. It's going to take us some time to settle in so a smaller apartment would be perfect for now.”
You sent a small smile his way and raised your eyebrows when your mother scoffed under her breath. And before the two of you would start arguing, Mingyu raised his glass and proposed a toast.
“To (Y/N) and Jaebum.”
Everyone clicked their glasses, fake laughs all over the room. As you sipped your drink, you and your mother glared at each other over your cups.
Why was she even talking about kids? She knew damn well that you didn't love Jaebum. Why would you have kids with a man you didn't know?
Besides, Jaebum wasn't the father you wanted for your kids. Jinyoung, on the other hand, was perfect. You imagined coming home to Jinyoung as he greeted you by the door with your child in his arms. Raising them together. First teeth, first words, first steps, first day of school…
“Why are you smiling (Y/N)?” Your father's voice woke you up from your dream about your impossible life with Jinyoung.
“Uh, nothing.” You shook your head.
Too bad that your dream would never come true.
A few days before the wedding, Jaebum showed up at your apartment with a couple of soju bottles in his hands. You let him in, worried about his appearance since he looked like he had aged ten years in a couple of days. After getting two shots glasses, you sat down at your kitchen table talking and drinking.
“You look really tired.” Jaebum randomly commented.
“I am tired.” You chuckled “Planning this wedding is kicking my ass. I'm not sure if I still fit in my dress.”
“I don't care about the color of the flowers, to be honest.”
“Me neither but it's not like we have a choice.”
“I know. He sighed.
After a couple more shots, you found out that Jaebum's tolerance wasn't as high as yours.
“Can I admit something?” His speech was slightly slurred.
“Sure.”
“I'm in love with someone else.” It didn't come as a surprise but you were relieved, at least you wouldn't start your marriage with do something to hide.
“Me too.” You confessed.
“She's engaged.” He poured himself another shot.
“Does she love you back?” You dared to ask.
“Yeah, she does. Her parents don't really like me though.”
“I'm sorry.”
“What about you?” Jaebum leaned his head into his palm listening attentively.
“He's not apart of this...lifestyle. He works at my father's company.”
“Does he love you?”
“He does.” You smiled but it didn't quite reach your eyes.
It was sad that two people who didn't love each other had to be together while the ones they truly loved were out there, suffering and heartbroken. You couldn't even imagine how Jinyoung was feeling. You pictured him at his apartment in bed reading a book but eventually putting it down since he had read the same paragraph several times but didn't pay attention to it because you were the only thing he could think of. Then you imagined him laying down hoping that your scent was still clinging onto his sheets.
Shaking your head and pushing back the tears that started to well up in your eyes, you poured yourself another shot. You had to move on.
☆.。.:*・°☆.。.:*・°☆.。.:*・°☆.。.:*・°☆ .。.:*・°☆.。.:*・°☆.。.:*・°☆.。.:*・
The day before the wedding was spent with your closest girl friends at a spa, as they gushed over how lucky you were for marrying such a successful handsome man. Truth to be told, you didn't feel lucky at all. But you let them believe you did, you played your part well. After all, that was what everyone expected from you.
☆.。.:*・°☆.。.:*・°☆.。.:*・°☆.。.:*・°☆ .。.:*・°☆.。.:*・°☆.。.:*・°☆.。.:*・
On your wedding day, you were a ball of stress and anxiety. Yet, to everyone around you, you seemed calm. Too calm. You felt miserable, you felt like crying and screaming but you couldn't.
“Did you and dad meet the same way Jaebum and I met?” You asked your mother as she zipped up your dress.
“Yes.” She finally admitted.
“Were you in love with someone else?”
“No, why?”
“Nothing, just curious.” You shook your head.
Your bridesmaids walked into the room, their high pitched voices were heard before you even saw them and they were giving you a headache. After they all complimented you on how good you looked on your Vera Wang dress, you walked if they could give you some time alone since you wanted to relax. It wasn't exactly a lie, but you just wanted them out of your face.
You hadn't slept in over twenty-four hours, your fingers itching to call Jinyoung. He was probably home feeling like shit, knowing he was minutes away from losing you forever.
And it wasn't like you could divorce Jaebum later on. Divorces weren't really a thing in your world. You knew a lot of married couples who acted as if everything was fine but the love had died years ago if it was even there in the first place.
You glanced at the hotel room door behind you. And all it took you was twenty seconds of insane courage for you to grab a notepad and a pen that were laying around. You wrote two notes. One for your parents, your family, Jaebum's family, the guests.
Don't look for me
Then another for Jaebum, the man you were going to leave at the altar. The man who was as broken-hearted as you.
I'm sorry
After placing both pieces of paper in a place where they'd be visible, you placed your engagement ring next to Jaebum's note. Then you grabbed your bag looked back. You were aware of the consequences of what you were about to do but you couldn't bring yourself to care.
“(Y/N)” The door opened revealing your brother “Mom sent me here, she said you were acting weird.”
You looked at him as if you were a deer caught in headlights. Mingyu took a quick look around the room, understanding what you were about to do.
“Are...are you running away?”
At his words, you broke down in tears letting out all be sadness and stress you had pent up for so long.
“I can't do this.” You sobbed “I can't.”
Mingyu locked the door and walked over to you, a serious look on his face.
“Do you know what happens if you go through with this don't you?” You nodded “Do you think Jinyoung is worth all that?” You nodded again.
Your brother sighed and ran a hand through his perfectly styled hair. He looked at you one last time before mumbling under his breath.
“Fuck.” He opened the door and peeked into the hallway “C’mon.”
“What are you doing?”
“I'm getting you out of here. C'mon hurry up you idiot.”
Without thinking twice, you followed him out the door. One of your hands held on to the dress preventing you from tripping while the other grasped your bag tightly.
Mingyu chose the stairs instead of the elevator and you were thankful that the hotel you rented out for the wedding was less than ten stories high.
Everyone else was in the back where the wedding would happen and the only person in the main lobby was the receptionist. Mingyu held up a finger to his lips and the man nodded. Once you were outside, Mingyu called you a cab.
“Wait, what about you?” You asked once you realized in how much trouble you brother could get by helping you run away from your own wedding “Why are you doing this?”
“You're my sister and I love you. And if you know that Jinyoung is the one that's going to make you happy, then…”
“Thank you.” You wrapped your arms around his torso hugging him “Thank you so much.”
Mingyu opened the car door for you. You glanced at the hotel door to see if anyone was coming after you. No one. Inside the cab, you looked up at your brother who smiled fondly at you.
“Thank you. I love you.”
Those were the last words you said to him before he closed the car door. You gave the driver Jinyoung's address and as the car drove away, you looked back at your brother who was still watching you. You waved and he waved back before returning to the hotel.
The car ride to Jinyoung's apartment was filled with anxiety but there was so much adrenaline in your veins that you barely noticed it. For the first time in a long time, you felt alive and you were loving every second of it. The driver stole glances at you every once in a while, probably dying to ask about the dress but you ignored him.
Once the cab came to a stop, you paid the driver and got out of the car as best as you could when more than half of you was a dress. People walking by gave you weird glances but you were only focused on one thing.
You knocked on the door and waited for what it felt like forever for the door to open as you prayed that Jinyoung was home. When the door opened, Jinyoung let out a shocked gasp and you smiled.
He looked you up and down a couple of times trying to figure out if he wasn't just imagining it. Maybe it was just his brain playing tricks on him, just to make him suffer and realized the mistake he had made when he let you go.
“Aren't you going to let me in?” But the moment he heard your voice, a sweet sound to his ears, he knew it was real.
“Fuck yes.” Jinyoung pulled you in for a kiss closing the door behind you and pressing your back against it.
You were pretty sure that your dress was stuck on the door but you didn't care. Not when you were back in Jinyoung's arms, not when you were back home. Because that's what it felt like. Coming back to Jinyoung felt like coming home after a day out in the cold, like a warm feeling that spread to your chest and brought a smile back to your lips.
All your worries, all the sadness, and stress from the previous months were gone like they were never there in the first place. You had turned your back on your family to allow yourself to be happy for once and there wasn't a single fiber in your body that regretted it. You knew that things were going to get hard for you after what you did but you couldn’t bring yourself to care. Not when you had Jinyoung back in your life. It'd be the two of you against the world. But it was okay. After all, you were his home too.
feedback is appreciated :) i’d link my ask box but tumblr is a dick
Kpop ship for quentin anon
Howdy doody everyone! hah, we’re getting creative with intros now lol. Today, I have a ship for an anon who goes by quentin. If you are reading this quentin, 1) hello! and 2) I hope you enjoy <3 PS, I missed y’all :(
Based off of your request, I gathered these facts about you;
You are 5′6 and have brown hair and hazel eyes
You’re kind of introverted
But you like to let loose and have fun
You’re friendly
You have a monotone/expressionless expression not a bad thing!
You take no bs and always stands up for what’s right
You love to laugh and you can be loud sometimes
You also love making others laugh
Your interests/hobbies are: drawing, writing, and dancing
In your request you have been asked to be shipped with Day6, Got7, NCT, and VIXX! Let’s go shippin(I’m so sorry lol)
Day6: Jae
The first thought I had for you and Jae was the famous ‘American Gothic’ painting by Grant Wood. Visually, you’d both have that expressionless look on your faces but in reality, you’re actually a happy sunshine couple. As I was thinking about how you two met, I thought you starting out as roommates would be so cute and clever. You would be new in the city, and the only apartment you could afford was Jae’s and he needed a roommate. The pieces all fit together perfectly. Based on first impressions, seeing all his amps and guitars and other musical items would be a little over-whelming, but he would assure you that you would never need to mess with anything or help him- he’s a big boy. Band practice would be a little hit and miss, sometimes they would be there, sometimes they wouldn’t, then if they were, you would leave so you can get a piece of mind. The first six months of living together would be awkward and you wouldn’t talk much. However, one rainy day when both your and Jae’s plans got canceled, you would start to bond, and you two would develop a relationship. As you two would get to know each other, you two would see each others humors, and you’d see the best and worst in each other. You both would be so blunt with each other in the funniest ways, you would never take comments seriously. Slowly, as time would go on, your friendship would slowly transform into romantic feelings. Jae would be very soft for you, and you admired Jae in a way you could never fully explain, so eventually you two said you were together. You fit together like two peas in a pod and when you became official, it was very liberating. Your friends and Jae’s friends weren’t surprised, since you two fit together so well, it was a matter of time before they called it- they were all happy for you regardless. You two would also be a very domestic couple btw. Hear me out, cause this’ll sound crazy but, Jae is the best worst housewife ever. When Jae would try to do household stuff he would fail but if he wouldn’t try he would succeed. He wouldn’t be the best at cooking, but would be a really good baker. That means a lot of sugar which means a lot of random decisions, like teaching you how to play guitar. There would be a lot of screaming singing followed by that by the way. Pillow talk would be huge for your two as well! Lastly, I would like to talk PDA/affection. A LOT of hand holding. He would love the softness of your hands. He also would love to droop his arm over your shoulder, then you would hold it, you would look so comfortable, and adorable, like the king and queen you are.
Tumblr media
Got7: Jinyoung
Much like my last ship went, there will be a lowkey theme to this ship: domestication. I don't know why I’ve been into themes recently, but it’s here. You two would be a soft couple that would love to admire one another. You two would also be an artsy couple. Rooting from a college type of au, Jinyoung’s art would be photography while your art would be writing, writing to your hearts content. Being the artsy couple you are, you two would spend so much quality time together! You two would also have your fair share of going out and being active and staying at the apartment together. Staying home isn’t always a bad thing either. You two are still equally as giggly and peppy with each other, so you two never have a dull moment and there are smiles and sunshine all around. I want to touch on quiet time real quick because I love the thought of it. Quiet time would include a lot of snuggles. Any kind of snuggles you can think of where you’re either laying on top of each other, or he’s snuggled to you, or you’re snuggled to him, SNUGGLES. Quiet time also includes you two working on your interests. While Jinyoung is on his laptop editing some pictures for his portfolio, you are right by him, jotting down the thoughts in your head, coming up with new ideas, or continuing another idea- the world is your oyster. Moving right along is date night. Park Jinyoung on date night is the best boyfriend material ever. If you’re at home, he sets up fairy lights all over the apartment, he cooks, and he gets a little dressed up. He wants to look clean for you, and just imagine forehead Jinyoung in this scenario #yesmama. Also, a little thing Jinyoung would love to do is slow dance with you. Then when you two go out, you got to so many different places- basically til you get tired and want to take a nap lol. Personally, Jinyoung would like to take you to your favorite places such as to eat or do an activity with. He would LOVE going out for karaoke, so of course you two would go out and do the stuff he enjoys too. You also have an amazing food taste, so who could argue with that, right? A lot of dinner topics include deep talks about what you want to accomplish separately and together, and you also love to talk about your futures together, a fan favorite. Then when you would get home, some major pillow talk sessions. These sessions would be more playful like small debates over how to toilet paper roll should go, a lot of giggles and smiles. Lastly more PDA. Gentle hands holding yours, he would handle you like you were made of glass. So many forehead kisses, and the sweetest eye smiles you’ll ever see.
Tumblr media
NCT: Jaehyun
You and Jaehyun yet again scream such a soft puppy like love aesthetic and it’s hard not to uwu over it. Jaehyun is your sunshine while you are his flower, like, you to need each other. Jaehyun would be absolutely head over heels in love with you tbh, like this bub is going to FALL. You two are that type of couple that is a get and go type of couple, and the world is your oyster. Traveling would be your thing, Jaehyun would want to take you everywhere he possibly could. With his occupation being a huge help in your wishes to travel, you would get to tag along on trips and such, and you and Jaehyun would travel anytime he got free time tbh. And this is super cute, listen up. So, you two would keep EVERYTHING you would get from traveling. Whether it’s plane/bus tickets, post cards, souvenirs, and of course your pictures, everything gets saved. Everything that can be put in a scrap book goes in a scrap book. It would be super cute if you two would have little books dedicated to every trip, and you’d keep them nicely organized on a ship by date or by location. Keeping those scrap books are great for always reliving the memories you two shared. Then, if you two aren’t out and about traveling or on a date, Sunday’s are your golden days- specifically if they’re rainy or it’s winter. Those Sunday’s are your time to relax and cuddle, and you also take those Sunday’s to work on your scrap books! Jae is also the type of boyfriend that loves to take great interest in your interests. Another one of those Sunday’s include making cute little stories together. Jae would love to collab on little stories with you! Again, those rainy days are full of endless possibilities, so, if you or Jae have an idea, you best believe that you two are coming up with a full out plot and characters, and even getting as far as getting a chapter or two written down. And a lot of the time, those little stories get tossed into a notebook, and it’s always fun to forget about it then come back at a later time and find it again. Moving on, you and Jae wouldn’t necessarily have date nights. You two spend so much time together, that every time you’re together is like date night. Of course Jae will take you out on special occasions like anniversaries or birthdays, but making homemade pizza or take out it the best way for you two to go. And omg so many game nights! Card games are your shit, and tbh, UNO would get crazy. Lastly PDA wise, Jae is all about that hand holding and cheek and lip kisses. He also loves to hug you, all the time, so prepared to have a koala bear attached to you.
Tumblr media
VIXX: Hakyeon
When I think of you and Hakyeon, you two would be the perfect wild and mild couple. Joking and cracking jokes is always a must by the way. You two have interesting senses of humor so, you two always are playfully picking on each other and being playfully sarcastic to each other. Part of that playful sarcastic antics you two would do is being overly-sensitive with each other. I know that sounds weird but hear me out. It’s super cute when you two pick at each other. Hakyeon would like to pick at your quirks- mostly because your quirks is what makes you unique and your quirks is also one of the many reasons why he loves you. When you playfully roll your eyes as he picks, Hakyeon would just smile at you and he would say “I love you”. It’s actually super soft at the end of the day tbh. And overall, Hakyeon is very considerate of you. Hakyeon is also a very protective boyfriend, and he will always make sure you know that as well. And he isn’t sorry about it either and you don’t mind it either, it helps you feel safe and wanted. Dancing together is your everything by the way. From Hakyeon teaching you a new dance to even learning new dance styles together, you two dance so much. Filming your dances together is also always a thing, you have a camera that is specifically for dancing. And it’s always fun to go back and watch those videos and seeing how much progress you’ve made since you started learning a specific dance. Also, you two are the king and queen of practice room antics. Teasing each other, pinching each others tushies(to be specific) is only the beginning. And of course, anytime you get to dance with Hakyeon’s fellow group members, you all stay in the practice for literally hours just dancing and goofing off. Learning the choreo and the boys love to pick at you, and then if you’re doing the choreo better than one of the members, you can see a roast fest in your future. Moving onto date night, date night is always a surprise with Hakyeon. Double or triple dates with your friends, or cute little pop-up dates like carnivals or little shopping trips- curtesy by your lovely boyfriend. Spoiling you is one of his specialties, he loves it so much. You’re his number one, so of course he would want to treat you like a number one. And, you are also as protective of him like he is to you. And tbh, Hakyeon would love that you are protective over him, you’re his little fire cracker. Lastly, PDA. He’s very hands on, he loves to have a hand holding something, he loves to know that you are around him. Back hugs, and forehead kisses, especially quick pecks, it’s a cute little detail enough to make an impact, because it would leave you in a flush.
Bias Tag
Tagged by the wonderful @prettywordsyouleft
Rules: list the groups you like, your bias, and your bias wrecker. tag 10 people
1- Vixx
Bias: Wonshik (Ravi) / Jaehwan (Ken)
Ravi is my original bias from the get go, when VIXX debut I instantly found him attractive, his voice ( im a goner for a deep rapper) He also reminded me of Baro from B1A4 (get to that later). Jaehwan though crept up and made himself knows, i mean how can you not fall in love with that man’s voice?! Pure fucking talent with a voice of a god tyvm. And his thighs and the rest of him arent too shabby either >_>
Bias Wrecker:  Sanghyuk (Hyuk)
Now do not get me started on this Manhyuk, yes MAN HYUK!! I’ve always appreciated the maknae of Vixx but it wasnt untll recently that i started to appreciate him more. Boy grew up too well, his dancing has improved so much, as has his vocal training / abilities. That boy moves too well for his own darn good, and i’m weak for thighs..
2- Got7
Bias: Jackson
Where do i even begin with Jackson Wang.. again, being a rapper i loved his tone, physically he is the type that i go for ( i like them thick, no shame here) His genuine caring nature, passion and drive to achieve his goals and the fact that he will do anything for his loved ones, even make an ass of himself. Got me sold.
Bias Wrecker: Jinyoung
Jinyoung is my original JJP bias, and i chose him as my first Got7 bias too, he is practically perfect in everyway.. sassy, namja, built like a god.. voice like one too. Do i need to say more?
3- B.A.P
Bias: Himchan
It actually took me awhile to chose a bias in B.A.P because I didnt want to admit that I liked Himchan (dont ask me why) but it was obvious why i like him. I love his deep voice when he sings/ raps. I also admire the fact that even though he doesnt want to dance so much, he always tries his hardest. He’s sassy as fuck, and such a shit stirrer, but loves those boys like family.
Bias Wrecker: Youngjae
Where do i even begin with Yoo Youngjae? Sassy fucker at its finest, noona wrecker, sings like.. I dont even know.. his smirks literally kill me, as do his thighs. Seeing them in person made me realise just how fucking beautiful B.A.P are.. I hate and love in in equal measure.
4- B1A4
Bias: Baro / Sandeul
Like i said earlier I had picked Ravi because he reminded me of Baro. I’m literally weak for a good rapper, and no one can say that Baro isnt one.. because HELLO TRIED TO WALK ANYONE!? This man is a pure goofball, and such a talent. Duelie, well.. he snuck up with his amazing vocals.. his voice is one of the few voices i die over everytime i hear it, gives me goosebumps and shivers & literally makes me cry. Also his duckbutt is glorious..the man is built in ways that are just too much for this noona.
Bias Wrecker: CNU/Dongwoo
He is seriously such a sleaze, his voice and stage presence oozes it. He honestly fucks me up with how much he wants to fuck you through the camera when he performs. He is built the way i like too.. attractive namja ugh
5- Wanna One
Bias: Ha Sungwoon / Ong Seongwoo
Before I even saw Sungwoon, I heard his voice. His voice is what attracted me first, then i laid eyes on him, and well damn. He is so so handsome and cute, I also love the fact that he is short (i’m only 5ft) His stage presence is always huge and he puts so much effort into everything, he is a perfectionist. Ong.. was another one who’s voice attracted me first (and shamelessly he was one of the only ones I could pick out straight away at first when i saw him. He is unique looking.
Bias Wrecker: Park Woojin
This one right here is literally the worst noona killer known to mankind (atleast to me) I try my hardest not to get attached to the younger members in kpop (me being almost 32) but talent literally flows out of him, his rapping, his dancing, this kid has it all. I only see bigger and brighter things for him.
6- Day6
Bias: Wonpil
I hated him at first, I didnt understand why he got so much, and i constantly complained about hearing him sing.. BUT he got on my nerves so much that I realized I actually loved the fuck outta this cutie. Now his voice is one of my favourites and hearing it does things to me. I appreciate this man like no other.
Bias Wrecker: Brian
I refuse to call him YoungK, his name is Brian. This talented asshole... has everything, rapping, composing, singing, bassist.. UGH It is literally so hard for me because these two rival eachother like no other constantly.
7- VAV
Bias: St Van
Again he is another member that I complained about, and didnt like at first, but i knew.. I KNEW he would creep up and take the bias spot. He is honestly so precious, and i love watching him cook and just be all casual. NAMJA
Bias Wrecker: Lou
He was my original bias, and I feel bad that St Van took his spot, but he still gives me moments where i am like... DAMN BOI. cos yeah.
8- EXO
Bias: Suho
He’s not my original bias in EXO, allbeit because a friend i once had biased him and made it so i felt like i couldnt bias him, but he is definitely my main bias. This man is pure fluff, seriousness, talent, attractive and a goofball. He honestly fucks me up with just one look.
Bias wrecker: Jongdae
Need I say more? LOL.. Jongdae was my original bias, the man can sing, dance, do it all really. Smirky, charming... UGH.
9- Seventeen
Bias: Chan / DK
Again I trieddddd to not like on the young ones.. but come on now people, Chan will fuck. you. up. That boy knows how to moves, he knows we like it and enjoys making you squirm. DK, his voice, i love love loveeee his voice, and he isnt too bad to look at, he is a giant fluffball and honestly does not act his age sometimes. Bias Wrecker: LEE JIHOON
I honestly overlooked him so much, and complained about him alot, why does he get so much? he’s not that great... I WAS WRONG. THIS MAN HAS FUCKED ME OVER SO BADLY. TALENT IS EVERYWHERE. HE PUTS SO MUCH EFFORT INTO EVERYTHING. HIS THIGHS. I DONT CARE THAT HE’S SHORT. IT MAKES ME LOVE HIM MORE. COME BE SASSY WITH ME.
10- NCT
Bias: Doyoung
This sweet doughboy of a man is everything. Great vocals. Great visuals. Dances and tries so hard. He is so very pure and fluffy and cute amazing boyfriend material, but also has a temper that you dont want to fuck with. I love that he’s sassy and serious, but also a cutie. wahhhh
Bias Wrecker: Lucas
I tried my hardest not to like on this boy, but FUCK does he not look like a man??? Cos damn he is so attractive it HURTS. I’m so glad he finally made his debut, you deserve it bb. Noona loves you!
I tag @annoyingtiger888 @hopesdreamsandalatte @noona-clock @hoshees
poly!JJP
Requested:
Pairing: Got7 Park Jinyoung x Im Jaebum x gender neutral Reader
Genre: poly!au, normal/idolverse
Warnings: sexual themes, but nothing explicit
I must admit a lot of inspiration came from the Tomorrow Today music video. Also, sorry for the long wait 😬 first my laptop broke, then last night the radiator in my room broke and water was everywhere, even leaking down to the living room, and both my parents are out so I am the only adult in the house and have to sort it out with the plumber etc.
Tumblr media
anyways
onto the au
get ready to be a parent to 5 kids
because if your dating the mum and dad of got7 that is what you automatically are
and you have been dating Jinyoung and JB since the ‘Bounce’ days
you were one of the lighting assistants working on the teaser photo shoot
during which you got to know them, as you were one of the few people actually close to their age
you quickly became closer to them both; and soon enough feelings started popping up
both of the boys gained crushes on you, and started competing for your affection, turning it into a competition of sorts
until it started affecting their relationship as JJP, at which point they sat down with each other and had a long chat
which……somehow ended up with them making out
yeah,,,they don’t know how it happened either
turns out as well as liking you, they both lowkey liked each other as a bit more than just friends
the next day, after this, 'revelation’ they approach you together
and it’s a little intimidating
both of them had their serious faces on, and they had cornered you at your apartment, so that you couldn’t avoid the conversation and run away like they thought you might
as it was though, they needn’t have worried as you had a feeling of what they wanted to talk about
I mean, they hadn’t exactly been discreet about the crushes they had on you, and being close to them had made you aware of this,,,'sexual tension’,,,between them
so it wasn’t exactly a surprise when five minutes after they approached you, you were all making out (during which Jinyoung comments “déjà vu” which leads to them explaining everything)
from that point on you three are officially together
you are their biggest supporter while they are JJ Project
and then when Got7 becomes a thing you hype them up during practices, and are their shoulder to lean on during the harder moments
you have also known the other boys from the start, and they have known about you
because despite how JB and Jinyoung are pretty private people, they love you to pieces and will talk about you forever if asked
and while you do become a sort of third parent to the boys, you are the first to join them when one of your boyfriends is getting teased
especially with Yugyeom
you team up and become JJPs biggest fans and annoyances
and when they have their 'Tomorrow, Today’ comeback, it gets even worse so they resort to shutting you up with kisses
(only you, Yuggie just gets hit)
the boys also tend to use you as a shield if Jinyoung or JB are annoyed at them or something, as you are good at distracting and calming them down
just as often as you can be found teasing your boyfriends, you can also been seen in the backgrounds judging Mark and the younger kids with them
you three know each other so well that talking isn’t needed between you
you just share a look and know what the other is thinking
it just so happens that usually those thoughts are “these people are weird”
(oh darlings, have you ever seen yourselves? you are just as weird. Just look at that one Just Right dp)
as you have probably noticed, kissing is mentioned a bit
and that is because our boys love it
I mean, when they have kissing punishments, have you seen how unabashedly Jinyoung carries them out?
also, his lips are perfect for kissing and he knows it, so he is often the one to make advances
not that youn or Jaebum mind,,who would?
and if it happens in front of the boys, any teasing is quickly shut up, either by bribing or scaring, it usually depends on the mood
cuddling doesn’t happen much in the relationship, but hugs do
Jaebum loves to give backhugs, wrapping his arms around you as you brushing your teeth in the morning after they spend the night during days off; or curling his arms around Jinyoungs waist as they rest during practice
Jinyoung can often be found laying down on his phone or reading with you or JB tucked under his shoulder or using him as a pillow
which happens a lot when they are at your place during time off
they basically live at your place by now, only still really living at the dorms for convenience, and because they don’t trust the boys on their own long term without someone dying quite yet
both of them have their own styles, and so you have a lot of fun raiding their closets for different outfits, stealing Jinyoungs button ups and Jaebums oversized t-shirts
and though they may complain they really don’t mind as much as they make it seem, because seeing you in their clothes is actually a little bit of a turn on
dates are usually just time alone indoors, as they will take any chance to relax from their busy schedules, and neither of them are particularly outgoing or energetic
sometimes you will watch a movie and eat takeaway
other times you do board games or complete jigsaw puzzles together
there are even times when you are just content with each others presence, not talking and reading your own books, with just the random giggles from reading a funny line, which never ceases to bring a soft smile to the faces of the other two
you do get out of the house for dates though
usually to a restaurant or Hongdae for street food
you and Jinyoung love it when JB gets drunk, as he gets so silly and it is hilarious, and also a good source of blackmail material which Jinyoung hoards, never knowing when he will need to use it against the leader
so when you do go out on dates, chicken and beer or Korean barbeque with soju all around are usually on the itinerary
matching couple items aren’t really a thing between you
but you do all have the same ring
which sends fan and shippers into a craze when they spot the boys wearing them (you being out of the medias eyes of course)
and you all have a picture of the three of you together as you phone backgrounds
it’s of you three huddled together in front of the Han River at sunset, taken by Jackson, during a night where ot7+1 went to the riverside for fried chicken after a gruelling practice
speaking of which, you often attend their practices which food and drinks in tow, and a positive attitude
because being with JJP for so long means you are very aware of what an idols life is like, all the ups and downs, because you have been there for your boys through every single one
so when you turn up to the JYP building (where you easily get in because everyone knows you by now) you often take on the leadership role, allowing Jaebum to take a break and just be one of the boys, even if for only 10 minutes
and they love you so much for doing things like this
because you allow them to be normal men in their twenties
with you they can just be,,,instead of having to show the best side of themselves constantly
so of course, they make sure to give you their everything, and try to do as much for you as you do for them
whenever you have work but they have days off they can be found at your place, cleaning and making food for when you return
though they often get distracted by each other, because being in an empty house, alone, with no distractions in the form of schedules or other men, is very tempting
so it isn’t unusual to return from work only to find them,,,busy,,,with each other
and when they notice you are there, all attention is turned to you
let’s just say they know how to get you to relax
basically, you three have a very calm and mature relationship, and might as well be married the way you act
because look at you being cute and domestic with JBs cats and five kids
and actual peace and quiet for once
Definitely not my best or longest thing I have written, but my mind is all over the place right now and I needed to get something out.
Requests are open!
Ha Sungwoon - Together (Valentine’s Series 7/11)
Genre: Fluff
Series: [ Jihoon ] [ Daehwi ] [ Guanlin ] [ Minhyun ] [ Woojin ] [ Jinyoung ][Sungwoon ] [ Jaehwan ] [ Jisung ] [ Seongwoo ] [ Daniel ]
Note: So I know that it is now a month past Valentine’s Day, but it didn’t feel right not finishing all of these scenarios for the rest of the members since these are all just fluffy and cute! So here is Sungwoon’s! The others should be up within the next week as well. I have two that need some editing and two that need to be written, but this series will be done soon! ^^ Then I’m going to focus on getting all of my drabble requests done, some scenario requests done, and then the soulmate series! :D I have an idea for another series as well, but it’s still in the works so I don’t know if it’ll happen. Anyway, please enjoy this Sungwoon scenario. More scenarios coming soon! ^^
- goodnightkisseu’s admin <3
Tumblr media
“Sungwoon, I really am sorry. I had no idea that I would have to work late tonight,” you apologized again, for what felt like the twentieth time that day. You were talking to your boyfriend on the phone, taking a break from the ridiculous amount of work that had fallen on your lap that night.
A vendor with whom your company contracted for some of its work to, called your outsourcing manager that day and told him that they never received the materials they needed to complete the task. All of the work was due by the middle of next week. This, of course, sent the entire office into a frenzy which required you and some of your co-workers to put in the extra hours to get all of the materials together. Even though each of you had taken a portion of the work, there was so much of it to get done that you were still endlessly working into the early evening. This was the first break that you had taken in almost five hours. You figured that calling your boyfriend to apologize for missing the amazing date that he had planned for the two of you for Valentine’s Day seemed like the best thing to do. At least you didn’t have to look at anymore account sheets.
“It’s not a big deal,” he said on the other end. “It wasn’t like I had to cancel a reservation with one of the most popular restaurants in the city and that I had made that reservation four months in advance or anything. It’s fine. Everything’s fine.”
“Sungwoooooon,” you whined, as he guilt tripped you. Yet, when you heard him chuckling on the other end, you couldn’t help but make a face. Your boyfriend wasn’t guilt tripping you, he was just teasing, the little shit.
“I’m only joking, don’t be like that. You know I can tell that you’re pouting even if I can’t see you. It makes me want to pull you into a great big hug, even though I can’t right now,” he cooed back, a small smile forming on your lips at his words. He went a bit too far sometimes, but Sungwoon was incredibly sweet. You knew that behind all of the joking that he really did care for you, even if it wasn’t always displayed in the most obvious way.
“Plus it’s probably better that we didn’t go anyway. I don’t really think that fancy restaurants are really our thing,” he pointed out. The two of you had been together for a long time now, and it felt like you had done almost everything together at this point. So this year, you had suggested doing something you two didn’t usually do, try the fancy restaurant thing. Obviously that wasn’t happening.
“I guess that’s true. Would have been nice to find out if it could be our thing though. I mean, we’d have to try, you know? And Valentine’s Day seemed like the perfect time,” you explained.
Sungwoon made a small noise in agreement. “Maybe next Valentine’s Day,” he suggested. “So, how much longer do you think you have? I know we’re skipping on the fancy dinner, but I would like to see my girlfriend sometime today? It is supposed to be a romantic holiday and all I got today was a quick kiss as you ran out the door for work,” he pointed out.
That was strange. You weren’t completely sure, but you thought you heard the sound of his care turning off. He got off work a couple hours ago, and he was making such a big deal earlier about finally getting to sit at home in his pajamas after the week of crunch they just had at his office. Where could he possibly be going? “Of course you’ll get to see me, silly. We ran into some minor problems a little bit ago, but we just finished sorting through them. You’ll definitely get to see me, but probably not until later tonight…”
“Well… then I think I may have a slight problem…” Sungwoon replied with a nervous chuckle.
“Why?”
“Because I’m parked outside of your building right now. I also just got out of the car and was planning to walk up to the building to come and get you, since I figured you’d be almost done,” he started, but before he could continue, he heard the call disconnect. He called your name, but when you didn’t respond, he furrowed his brow and looked down at his phone, seeing that you had, in fact, ended the call. “Wow, you tell your girlfriend you’re here to see her and she just hangs up on you…”
Sungwoon shook his head, a light chuckle leaving his lips as he turned to head back to the car, figuring that your boss had stopped by for an update so you had to end the call. With a shrug and a sigh, Sungwoon slipped his phone back into his pocket as he started to walk back to his car. There was no point in standing outside if you weren’t going to come down and see him.
Yet, before Sungwoon got to his car, actually before he even to more than two steps really, someone came charging right into him, wrapping themselves around him as soon as they made contact. Normally he probably would have freaked out, but people if they were trying to mug you, wouldn’t really do it like this. And this hug just felt so family, that it could only be you. “So is this your new way of telling me that you’ll be right down, because I don’t know if I like it very much,” he remarked.
“Why didn’t you tell me you were coming…” came your muffled response, your face still buried in his back. You didn’t answer his question, of course, but that he was used to.
Sungwoo chuckled again, lightly pulling your arms from around him as he turned to face you. His hands found their way to your hips as he pulled you a little closer. “We’ve been together for five years now, you should just know what I’m thinking to be honest,” he replied. “But really, I just wanted to surprise you. I thought it would be nice if I came to get you, I just didn’t realize that you would be working later than this, so I kind of jumped the gun. Since I’m here though, do you think you could take a small break? It’ll be good for you to get out of the office and get something to eat? Maybe we could go to one of those food carts around here?” he suggested.
“I’d like that a lot,” you told him, a smile forming on your lips as he leaned in for a quick kiss before grasping your hand in his.
“Hey, do you remember when you first started working here? Back when we started dating? I came here to get you for lunch that one time.”
You nodded, but you also couldn’t help but giggle at the memory. “I do. It was back when neither of us really knew the area, and you said that we could walk to the nearest restaurant because it was only fifteen minutes away. But you forgot to switch your GPS to walking and it was really fifteen minutes by car. So it took us forty minutes to get there and forty minutes to get back. I was super late getting back to work.”
Sungwoon nodded as he grasped your hand a little tighter. “Yeah, it was before all of these food carts started to pop up. I really thought you were going to break up with me back then. You don’t know how shocked I was when you texted me that night.”
“I mean, I was pretty upset with you, and in the moment I’m sure I thought that we might not work out, but when I really got the time to think about, I realized that you were just trying to do something sweet. I was always complaining about how I hated sitting around inside so you suggested that we go out for a walk and get some fresh air. The restaurant you chose even served my favorite dishes. You were doing it with good intentions,” you reminded him as you leaned against his arm. “That’s not something to dump someone over. Plus my boss is lenient so you were lucky I never got in any real trouble for it.”
“Yeah, talk about lucky,” he said with another chuckle. “But when I think back on it, that date was very ‘us’ wasn’t it? Like we tend to do things in our own way and at our own pace. I feel like that was just the start of it all…”
========
As it was Valentine’s Day, the two of you decided to eat at one of your favorite stalls. Of course, in doing so, Sungwoon did get a mouthful from the older women that rand the small food cart. She lectured him about how he should have taken you somewhere nice on such a special day and about how he was just like her husband, since her husband also didn’t know how to do romantic things. Sungwoon was a trooper though, and apologized and told her that he would try harder next year, which earned the two of you a little extra food.
You did your best to not talk too much about work while you guys were eating, not wanting to waste this time with Sungwoon. Instead the two of you busied yourselves talking about other things, such as the gossip going around Sungwoon’s office or about your friend, Seulgi’s upcoming wedding that you invited to. You kept the conversation light and just enjoyed each other’s company. Soon, your food was all gone and you thanked the older woman as you left, your wonderful boyfriend suggesting that the two of you go for a short walk around the nearby park before you headed back to the office.
It was a bit chilly that night when the two of you left the warm confines of the small tent. Sungwoon was quick to react upon seeing you shiver and he gave his jacket. You thanked him and he wrapped his arm around your shoulders as the two of you headed through the small part.
It was relatively silent between the two of you as you walked, but this was nothing new. It was often like this. It wasn’t that you were upset or anything, but rather that you just enjoyed each other’s company. You didn’t need to be conversing the entire time you were together. You just needed each other’s presence. You just needed to be close, and that’s all that really mattered.
Huh, that was when something struck you. It was something that Sungwoon had said earlier about the two of you doing things your own way. You supposed you had never really thought it until now, but he was right. The two of you really did do things differently than others. In the five years that the two of you had been together, you couldn’t say that anything was like a typical story. Your relationship was one that moved fast. From your first date, to your first kiss, to becoming exclusive, to your first time being intimate, even to moving in, it all happened at an accelerated pace. Everyone was wary about how fast the two of you had moved, but you just, the both of you just knew that it would work. Sure, it wasn’t to say that in the last five years that everything was good. The two of you did fight, but you made up. You went at your own pace, and you realize that you liked that. You liked that about being with Sungwoon. He was… he was just right for you.
“Sungwoon…” you started softly, your hands moving down his arm to grasp his between both of yours. “I really like us.”
Sungwoon smiled, but didn’t make a remark right away. Normally he would have. He knew that you weren’t the type that would say mushy things like that and it was definitely something he could have teased you about, but tonight, he was going to make an exception. “I like us too.”
“I like our pace,” you expanded on your earlier comment. “I like that it doesn’t have to be something grand with us. We don’t have to go to a fancy dinner or do things to show people how good we are together. We just are. I like just being with you… even if we’re just strolling through a park like this.”
Sungwoon slowed his pace and you followed suit as the two of you stopped on the bridge, just over a small stream. He turned to face you as he brought both of his hands up lightly cradled your face as he leaned down for a gentle kiss. “I like our pace too,” he echoed. “Happy Valentine’s Day,” he said softly before leaning down for another kiss…
========
Following your little impromptu Valentine’s date, Sungwoon agreed to come back to the office with you while you worked. Most of your coworkers had left by the time that you got back, but that was alright. It meant more time to spend with your boyfriend while you worked. Sungwoon situated himself on one side of your desk and busied himself with his phone while you continued to flip through documents, cataloguing the ones that needed to be sent to the vendor.
From time to time, when he realized that you were getting sleepy, he’d show you something ridiculous that he had found online or start up some small talk to keep you awake. When those things weren’t working, your loyal boyfriend would head into the kitchen to make you another cup of coffee, knowing that caffeine usually did the trick. However, by the end, he was looking through some of the documents as well, knowing that the two of you working at it would make it go faster.
And just like that, the Valentine’s Day that almost didn’t happen, did happen, but in a way that was unique to you and Sungwoon…
the Bad (?) Decision.
Tumblr media
Date #6 of the Bad First Date Chronicles Pairing: Im Jaebum x Reader
You’ve done your best in life to make the best decisions possible.
You were the kind of person that thought of every scenario and every consequence, good and bad, before coming to a conclusion.
But you didn’t think when it came to Im Jaebum.
You felt destroyed after that fateful phone call, angry at anything and everything.
Which prompts you to drag Youngjae to a bar the following weekend, dressed to impress and feeling hollow inside.
The best combination, I’m sure you can agree.
“Maybe not so many beers?” The look on Youngjae’s face is that of complete worry as he twists the bottle from your hand, placing the still cold drink on the table. You frown, “Choi Youngjae, never remove a drink from a lady’s hand. Now give it.”
You make grabby hands for it but he moves the beer, eyeing you with an air of exasperation. “You look like you’ve been dumped.”
You roll your eyes, “I have. Or should we go over the past few months again? The too tall child that couldn’t even drink yet? The overly fabulous super model that needs attention 24/7? The sweet sunshine boy that’s a better friend than boyfriend? Or should we discuss Park Jinyoung? My shot at happiness that I went and screwed up somehow? Or we can go back to just awhile ago when the Jackson Wang said we shouldn’t see each other again? And now, now my supposed best friend that’s been ignoring me all this time has a girlfriend and I feel like my heart has been ripped out and crushed by every power tool in existence. Fuck Youngjae-yah, fuck. What does the universe have against me? Am I not a decent person, decent enough? Should I just give up, is this a sign?”
He can’t help but chuckle, “If it’s a sign, you’re not seeing it.”
You frown couldn’t possible deepen but it does. “Huh?”
“Look Y/N. We agreed a long time ago that this, this between us, is better the way it is now. You’re like...an amazing friend. Probably my best one. And I know that title, for you, belongs to Mark. But I just had to say it. Anyway, that’s besides the point. A sign. You’ve gone through these dates, they’ve ended up being complete busts, and now you feel empty and angry and very, very sad. Right?”
“...right. Right? Right.”
He can tell you’re not getting it. “You’re sad. You’re angry. You’ve been feeling this way since that phone call. Don’t you think that means something?”
You sigh and flail a little in your seat. “You know I’ve had too many drinks! I don’t have the brain capacity for this right now!”
“...you’re a pediatric surgeon.” “...right now I’m just a broken drunk girl.”
With a groan, he grips your shoulders. “You’re in love with Mark.”
Oh. Wait.
“I’m sorry, what?” You stare at him, eyes almost popping out of your head.
Youngjae shakes his head, “All this time, you don’t see exactly what’s right there. Right there. As in Mark. I’ve never met the guy but come on! You told me how defensive he got when I had asked you out! With all the stories you told me and now this whole girlfriend situation? You’re in love with your best friend, geez you’re like a generic romantic comedy.”
You’re silent for a moment - before you start to laugh.
“I am not, not, in love with Mark. That’s complete shit Youngjae-yah, no offense. I’ve known him my entire life! He’s Mark! It’s an insane idea and I won’t entertain it any longer.” You grab your beer before he can move it away, pressing a wet kiss to his cheek. “Now go on and go home to your girlfriend turned ex-girlfriend turned back into girlfriend. You told me she had exams today so treat her to dinner or something. I’ll be fine.”
He tries to argue, but you stop him with a hand to his mouth.
“Nope! Nada! I don’t want to hear it, now go! Shoo!”
He’s groaning as you forcefully get his jacket on, mothering him (as best as you can drunk tipsy) and simultaneously shove him towards the doors. He looks extremely hesitatnt to leave you but you promise a million times to call if you needed something.
When he’s finally gone, you think about what he said, what he thinks you feel.
It’s ridiculous, preposterous, completely insane. You’re not in love with Mark Tuan. Absolutely, undeniably, not in love.
And you’re going to prove it.
Im Jaebum’s leather jacket was warm, material heavy over your shoulders as he leaned forward to whisper something in your ear.
Your mind is hazy, most of it because of the alcohol, but he’s handsome (aka incredibly sexy) and you don’t mind the feeling running through your veins.
You try not to think about Youngjae’s words as you press yourself against the line of Jaebum’s body, smiling as his lips graze your cheek.
You know it’s a bad idea, you usually make them when you drink too much, but he’s saying nice things and making you feel good and you don’t want it to stop.
You don’t want to think about Mark, think about whatever feelings you (maybe) don’t have.
But Jaebum is kind, underneath the all black and piercing eyes. He doesn’t try to make unnecessary moves on you, hands never drifting too far south, never says anything inappropriate that makes you uncomfortable. He watches out for you, talks with you, takes his time because he understands you’re not in the clearest of mindsets.
And when he drives you home, he helps you to your room, leaving your clothes on instead of ripping them off and trying to make the night more interesting.
You don’t remember much of what he’s said, his voice muffled like you’re underwater.
And you drift to sleep that way, suddenly thinking about red hair instead of two moles under the eye.
You wake up with a desperate need for water.
It’s a little past four in the morning when you find your way to the kitchen in the dark, hands out in front of you as your eyes stay slightly closed.
You gulp down two glasses, sighing in relief as the liquid cools your body from the inside. You’re about to head back to bed when a light from the living room causes you to head there instead, confusion all over your face when you pick up a phone that isn’t yours.
You feel more awake when you see a text on the screen from Youngjae.
Thanks for helping Jaebum hyung, I didn’t want to leave her at the bar but she kept pushing me out. And I’m sorry you have to spend the night on the couch lol. I promise I’ll get you breakfast in the morning. Call me when you wake up.
Your confusion deepens as you read the text over again.
When someone shifts next to you, you turn quickly to see Jaebum sleeping on your couch, arm thrown over his face as his feet shuffle under one of your blankets. His leather jacket, the one that had kept you warm earlier that night, was lying across the arm of the couch by his head.
With your ears ringing and a sort of buzzing prickling all over your skin, you kneel in front of him and shake gently at his shoulder.
“Jaebum-ssi...wake up...”
He groans, heading turning away from your voice, and you shake again. With a deep inhale, he slowly wakes up and faces you, eyes opening and recognition flashing across them.
“...I take it you’re wondering why Youngjae-yah is texting me,” he says, stretching a bit, the blanket slipping further down his body.
You nod, a bit in a daze, “Uh, yeah. That’s one of the million question running through my pounding head. Should I...wait until later?”
He shakes his head, pulling himself up into a sitting position, patting the space he was once occupying. You rise from the floor and sit, folding your legs underneath you. He spreads the blanket further to cover you as well and leans back to get comfortable once more.
“Youngjae is a friend of mine, we’re both in the same music classes at school. He saw me at the bar when you both arrived and when you started drinking a little too much, he had texted and asked me to keep an eye out for you once you shoved him out the door.”
“...he knew I would do that?”
He smiles a little, “He did. He insists he knows you quite well. He knew that the moment he suggested you were in love with your best friend, you’d deflect it and insist he went home to his girlfriend. He didn’t want to just leave you on your own so I agreed to take care of you.”
Your cheeks turn pink, “But you were flirting with me.”
He shrugs, “You’re pretty, which I’m sure you know. There’s no harm in flirting, at least in my opinion. And I couldn’t keep an eye on you if you lost interest and wandered to some other guy. I had to make sure to keep you occupied so I could eventually take you back here.”
“...I’m sorry. My couch isn’t comfortable.”
He chuckles, “I disagree. Youngjae’s is worse. Yours feel like clouds so don’t worry. But if it’s all the same to you, I’m hoping I can stay until the sun’s up. I have work later today and could use the sleep.”
You agree, there’s no way you’d kick him out now, and he grins in thanks. You get up so he can lie back down, blanket pulled up to his chin like a child. You’re on you’re way back to your room when he calls out again.
“I don’t know Mark, I barely know you except what Youngjae has mentioned. But maybe he’s got a point. You seemed more like you were drinking to forget rather than drinking for a good time.”
You don’t say anything, you actually feel a little dizzy, and head back to your room to climb under your covers. You send a quick ‘thank you’ text to the sunshine child (what would you do without him, really) before you’re on your back, staring up at the ceiling.
“You’re in love with Mark.”
You groan, covering your face, Youngjae’s voice clear as day in your head.
There’s no way you were in love with Mark, he was your best friend and you weren’t in a cheesy romantic film.
But you think back to the past few months without him here, the emptiness you had felt that lead to confusion and then to anger and then to heartbreak. You had been attached at the hip since you were both infants and couldn’t yet walk. He had seen all the ugly sides of you and still managed to not care, always there for you no matter what.
And then you started dating, if dating was even the right word.
You had dated before, had a boyfriend or two that Mark never seemed to like.
But it was that first date with Yugyeom, when you really decided to try and keep an open mind, that he started to act odd - act jealous.
Then, he disappeared. No calls, no texts. It was like he started a whole new life without you in Taiwan.
And the girl. The girlfriend he suddenly had.
Something like that was worth being told. You told him everything! Told him about your dates and how they didn’t turn out the way you had hoped, ending the night early with him as you ate food and played whatever on the tv.
But him getting a girlfriend, he couldn’t bother.
You roll around, heart achy and thoughts jumbled.
If you were in love with him (which okay, you were kind of starting to think you maybe sort of were), what did that mean? He wasn’t here, he had left. You haven’t spoken in weeks so how were you supposed to figure anything out if he wasn’t there to help you?
How was anything supposed to work if you weren’t trying to make it work together?
Like Jaebum, you pull the covers up and drown out your frustrated screams with a pillow, only falling asleep an hour later with things still not making any sense.
Jaebum is gone when you wake up, eyes heavy like sand as you pull yourself up out of bed.
He left a simple note on your dresser (thanks for the couch and the chance to get some sleep after lifting a full grown woman back into her apartment lol) that you tuck away with a scoff and a smile before getting rid of last night with a shower.
It’s when you’re dressed, hair dry and stomach empty, that you hear it.
The faint jingle of keys and a door being opened. The sound of suitcases being rolled against the hardwood floor of your entryway.
You’re frozen in your room, paralyzed because you know who that is.
You know, right then, everything becoming clearer than they ever were. And you’re suddenly terrified.
You slowly open the door, sock clad fleeting sliding against the floor as you make your way down the hall. Everything that’s happened is like a weight on your chest and you can hear Youngjae’s voice again.
“You’re in love with Mark.”
...yes, I think I am.
a/n: one left! tomorrow, we find out just where the fuck mark tuan has been lol.
wanna one as types of boyfriends
yoon jisung:
the walking meme. everything he does is fucking hilarious. you literally have 2000 photos of him on your phone which could be edited into potential memes. there’s never a sad/boring day in your life. he’s actually always super excited about everything and you always sometimes question his mental age but you still think it’s really cute. always makes stupid puns and jokes to make you laugh (that sometimes even results to self degradation). all that makes him happy is seeing you smile, so he makes that his daily goal. likes to send you weird pictures of him using different filters on snapchat that you obviously screenshot. he’s super funny and your whole family loves him, especially the kids. “auntie when are you getting married to uncle jisung?” “soon” “um jisung wtf stop lying to the kids” “i never said i was lying”
ha sungwoon:
the tea sipper. he has the dirt on everyone, and i mean everyone. knows what’s going on in your life, your neighbor’s life, and your second cousin’s uncle’s grandfather’s life. your dates consist of gossiping with the neighborhood aunties every week at the book club he organized. wants to know how your day is and knows you so well that he can tell when your feeling down. sings to make you feel better, and if that doesn’t make you smile, he’ll probably pull out the big guns and start dancing to girl’s day something. doesn’t mind embarrassing himself if it makes you happy :’). doesn’t like it when you call him cute bc he’s “manly not cute”. tries to fight other people when they talk shit about you. talks a lot!!! like when you’re trying to catch some z’s, all he does is talk about how your neighbor’s husband is cheating on her with her sister??? “omg don’t tell anyone but jisoo’s husband is cheating on her with her own sister” “wtf how do you know?? did you stalk her husband again??” “no way, i was throwing away the trash and i saw them?? coincidentally??”
hwang minhyun:
the perfectionist. a little ocd and always needs everything to be super clean and organized. he told you that he had perfect attendance in school and always had straight a’s. his skin is perfect, his visuals are perfect, and his voice is perfect. sometimes you feel like he’s too good for you, but then you remember how much of an awkward loser he is in real life. texts you the most romantic things, but can’t say it in person to you. you like to tease him a lot for being an awkward antisocial person. very easily embarrassed person. not a big pda person. blushes a lot. doesn’t know how to convey his feelings into words or actions, but it’s okay bc you know he’s trying hard. he looks like a cold tsundere but sike he’s a soft mochi on the inside. smiles a lot more now bc “you make me happy i guess”.
ong seongwoo:
the prankster. he loves messing around with you and pissing you off. one time he put blue dye into your body wash and you came out of the shower looking like a smurf. you guys end up having prank wars and once you even super glued his feet into his shoes. when he’s not thinking of ingenious plans to prank you, he’s actually a really sweet boyfriend. sometimes he takes you out on spontaneous dates to that fancy restaurant across town to make up an excuse to see you wear a beautiful dress. but he loves taking you on midnight rides. like he’ll drive you in silence as you enjoy the night sky and talk to you about random things and let you rant about your inner thoughts. “stop staring at me ong!! focus on the road” “you’re just too beautiful. you distracted me”
kim jaehwan:
the musician. he confessed to you in broad daylight while playing the guitar and singing a song written for you. you guys were sitting on a bench in the city and he randomly whips out his guitar and starts singing. a crowd gathers around you eventually, and they cheer when you accept his confession. he likes to write songs in the middle of the night, so you’ll probably wake up at 3 AM and hear him playing random chords on the piano and writing lyrics in the dark. he writes songs thinking about you and likes to sing to you when you have trouble sleeping. also super extra!! likes to boast about things that he can’t do like karate and playing soccer. he told you that he used to play soccer in middle school, but when you actually took him out to play he said “yeah i played soccer. i played fifa” “ugh i hate you so much right now”
kang daniel:
the gamer. he’s a huge fucking loser, and he loves playing league and overwatch and basically every game ever. tried to teach you how to play league once but you never understood anything, so he ended up carrying the team and winning. spends 95% of his time indoors, but he also likes to cuddle with you when he’s gaming. makes you sit on his lap while he wraps his arms around you and rests his chin on your head when he plays. likes taking you to comicon or any other nerdy convention. but it’s endearing to see him so excited about cosplayers. “cosplay with me next year” “lol how about a no”
park jihoon:
the prince. on top of his handsome looks and dancing skills, he was also born with a silver spoon in his mouth. buys you everything you’ve ever wanted and then some. but you’re not interested in materialism ok yes you are but you’re more interested in him. so he doesn’t really understand love?? like he’s always been loved by his parents but he tries his hardest to convey his feelings for you without extravagant gifts. like this is the first time someone told him that they didn’t want a new car and he doesn’t understand why you don’t want a mercedes benz but it’s your loss?? he takes you to nice dates at super expensive high end restaurants while you assure him that getting a take-away pizza is always fine too. wears gucci and givenchy and saint laurent and tries to buy you clothes from there too but one dress is worth more than your life??? he likes to sleep on your shoulder while you stroke his hair. really cute relationship full of $$$. if you need a sugar daddy you know who to call. “you want a new car?” “wtf no i want a new boyfriend” “>:((((”
park woojin:
the shy turned wild one. yeah he was really shy when you first met but now he wildin. you tried taking him to a family party once but he was getting too into his dancing and ended up grinding the floor. what happened to the shy bean that couldn’t look you in the eye?? sometimes he’s still really shy around people he just met, and he kind of attaches himself to you. but dancing really makes him let everything go, and he tries to teach you choreographies to your favorite songs. taught you how to dance to red velvet and exo and rap to okey dokey. dates consists of dance lessons and chilling at home watching smtm together. bet milk tea on who’s going to make it to the finals. “yo it’s gonna be nucksal” “oh hell no i’m betting on hangzoo” “wow it’s only bc you like zico & dean more smh i thought you loved me”
bae jinyoung:
the nerd that turned hot. you known him since elementary school but boy did he glow up in high school. the last thing you remember was him being that smart nerd that never talked, but now he has a whole army of girls chasing after him. outside appearance may have changed but he’s still a nerd. dates consists of chilling at home and watching the latest episode of the anime y’all like while cuddling. takes you to animecon where you cringe at the weebs but where he enjoys every moment of it. likes taking you to manga and anime stores. dreams of going to japan with you. also likes to buy you cute couple charms for your phone. “i bought you the touka charm bc you’re the touka to my kaneki” “you’re such a fucking weeb lmao but sasaki is better”
lee daehwi:
the foreign swagger. yeah he lived in america for 4 years, that’s why he’s here man. just kidding, he’s a super adorable boyfriend that sometimes mixes up his languages when he’s flustered. super caring and always frets over you. nags you a lot when you get sick. “i told you not to go outside without a jacket!” but really good music tastes. makes different spotify playlists for you to listen to when you’re sad or tryna to get turnt. likes shopping dates!! he is your personal fashion designer and buys cute dresses when he thinks you look cute in them. “i thought this color suited you really well, so i bought it!” “um but it says it’s $300″ “oops?”
lai guanlin:
the athlete. he likes every sport but he’s super obsessed with basketball dude. like he’ll take you out to the nearest basketball court to shoot with him even if you can’t make a shot for your life. dw he’ll teach you the proper shooting form and how to dribble. you’ll end up having lots of cute basketball dates and afterward he’ll probably take you out for ice cream. likes to rest his head in your lap as he practices his shooting form laying down. lots of after-practice cuddles. “ew guanlin you’re so sweaty. get off of me” “no i like staying with you like this”
The B In Baejin Is For Boyfriend Material
• who?: Wanna One's Bae Jinyoung • genre: 🌸 • type: bullet point blog navigator. • pure fluff of what Jinyoung would be like as a boyfriend on campus kdlsjskdjsj I'm honestly really terrible at the boyfriend type of content because I'm not good at speculating or assuming how people actually are in real life. But this was fun to do and I hope it isn't a total flop. Thank you for requesting this anon!! - Admin L
• first of all, regardless of what college you apply to or enrol in, Jinyoung would be super supportive • even if your dream college and his dream college were 200 miles away • luckily, you guys somehow got into the same college • hell yeah • you wouldn't see your boyfriend for awhile because you're too busy packing and getting ready for college • but this is Bae Jinyoung we're talking about   • *ring ding dong* • you peel open the door to reveal a smiling Baejin, hands filled with packing materials such as masking tape • "yah ~ aren't you supposed to be getting ready as well? Why are you here?" • "i'm here to help!" • you sigh and raise your eyebrows at him • then again, you aren't actually complaining about it • who wouldn't want to have your boyfriend around • and helping you • Jinyoung's house is closer than yours to the institute so he doesn't have much to bring to his dorm • he can travel that half an hour every weekend • your situation is different • much different • a dozen of your things are packed and ready to be shipped to college with you • which is practical because you can't be travelling 5 hours up and down every day • you need everything in your dorm • literally • including that cute plushie Jinyoung gifted you on your birthday to sleep with • otherwise, you know you won't be able to fall asleep • your roommate is cool with you pretty much occupying the entire dorm since they too live extremely close to the college • you love your roommate already • let's not lie Jinyoung is probably decent at packing and being neat • sure, he's no Minhyin but he makes an effort to try and help • folds your clothing • realises it's his sweater he thought he lost last Winter • Baejin sighs but smiles and tucks it in your luggage anyway • his baby WILL wear his clothes • stops to observe the things you packed and realises you have like 500 boxes of household equipment • "....love, how much stuff do you actually need?" • "LovE hOW muCH STufF dO YOu acTUALLy NeED" you reply • *insert Spongebob meme* • "you will help me carry it to my room, won't you?" • your voice drips with honey, sickeningly sweet and begging • Jinyoung pinches your cheek gently, "ahh, I can't. I'm moving in two days after you, remember?" • "yah! is that your reason for moving in after?" • a cheeky smile spreads on his face but before you can retort something snarky, he presses his soft lips to yours • packing is forgotten • you are sad you're moving in before your boyfriend does • he doesn't forget your move in date • at first, your parents were going to drive you and your things over • surprise • on that day, it was Bae Jinyoung and  your parents who showed up in the car to pick you • you nearly melted into tears • he lives far away from you so any unscheduled meet up is rare and always makes you cry • bc he doesn't have to make that 5?? 6?? hour journey to and fro • but he chose to • well duh, it's for you • he's that type of person let him live • your parents were in on it too • the car ride to college is one of the more enjoyable ones you have had in your life • Jinyoung is so charming your parents fell for him immediately • he's talking about baking, politics and gardening all at once to both your parents • it's amusing • and you really wouldn't have it any other way • look at your boyfriend and family getting along so well • he bouta be part of the family soon • wink wonk • your parents love him as much as you do • maybe even more • as soon as the car is parked, your parents venture out to sip tea in one of the on-campus cafes, promising to see you before they leave for the long drive back • your legs are so wobbly you can't even stand up straight anymore • pins and needles are a PAIN • thankfully, you have an amazing boyfriend by the name of Bae Jinyoung to assist you in balancing • both of you make multiple trips back and forth, each time the load of boxes seemingly heavier • djosapdkdl you realise it's going to take the entire day even if you started at 7am • Baejin pulls out his phone. "Hi Jay, clear my schedule for today. I'm really busy right now" • eventually, you do finish up unloading and unpacking every box and bid your family goodbye • you let your lips linger on Jinyoung's for a few more seconds than usual • "it's never a goodbye kiss, Y/N." • of course, you are reunited on his move in day • the favour is returned by you helping to carry like two boxes of things   • he only needed three boxes and one bag • wow • don't you love staying nearby • college starts and your life is flung into a flurry • you barely catch a glimpse of Jinyoung throughout the first couple of weeks but you two decide on a schedule • he walks you to your first lecture every odd week • and you buy him coffee after his classes every even week • sometimes, he just calls you out of your dorm to grab a pizza at the restaurant on campus • college isn't like this irl but • picnic dates at the picnic tables outside the cafeteria • cloud watching, enjoying the sun, just conversing and finally! relaxing after all the stress from your studies • Jinyoung takes a ton of pictures to save as his wallpaper • you talk about your troubles and spill everything during those sessions • it becomes somewhat therapeutic • when either of you has a bad day, you call each other as soon as classes end • "babe..." • "hang on babe. grab your coat, we're headed out" • it happens all the time • you grab dinner together and then go for a nice night stroll • such romantic • 110% mood improved • study dates in the library when it's finals season • it's meant to be a date but you guys concentrate so much on your studies and nearly forget each other's presence • the library closes late for night study etc • you're wrapped up in his sweater and poring over your notes, frantically trying to memorise information • whenever you look like you want to tear your hair out, Jinyoung takes your pen from you and scribbles on a post-it before stamping it in your notes • "take care of yourself! i love you. :)" • your binder is covered in those neon stickers and they make your heart melt every time you see them • always reminds you to eat and stay hydrated • buys you 'cheer up!' stationery such as ramen shaped erasers or a pen with a cute design • you never actually use them and you keep them in a special pen holder on your desk • your roommate teases you about it, especially when more stationery is added • when Jin gets frustrated, you always remind him that he is worth it and that he isn't going to screw up • hyping him so his confidence doesn't fall to where it used to be • to Baejin, your smile itself is enough to make his day • it only gets better when you leave handwritten notes and sometimes a small snack in his bag while he wasn't looking • walks in and out of the exam hall exuding confidence • one night, you fell asleep at the library, surrounded by all your books • Baejin can't exactly leave you there yet he doesn't want to wake you up • so he took over the graveyard shift from the student librarian just to keep the library open and operating • so that you could have a good sleep • and so that half the cohort could cram a night before finals • in the morning, you are forced to literally drag him out lest he miss his final • you blush when your friends tell you about his gesture • how extra™ • you shake your head out of embarrassment but your friends find his care adorable • he gets really shy when you confront him about it • "really? was there no better way to solve it? you could have woken me up you know?" • "ahh but if I did, you wouldn't have gotten an A* on your paper? would you?" he teases • hahaahahaha true • since it's after finals, Jinyoung decides to take you off campus on a date • he goes out of his way to obtain a special parking pass for campus parking • idk we have that here so ^ • "jin, wasn't that cafe over there? why are we headed to the carpark?" • you feel a bit overdressed for your usual spot but he told you to dress your best • Jinyoung tightens his grip around your hand and beams with a wink • "we're going off campus tonight, sweetheart" • S W E E T H E A R T • by the way, I should mention that he looks absolutely dashing in his suit and maroon tie • you're practically drooling and thanking God for your amazing boyfriend • he's glad he heeded Guanlin's fashion advice • anyway • you can hardly contain your excitement as it's been awhile since you got a break from the college scenery • when he sees your mouth stretching into a giant smile, Jinyoung can't help but grin too. • he's happy you're elated to the point that it can't be hidden • since he lives in the nearest city which is 30 minutes away, you take time to admire the foreign scenery • wow....I can't believe Jinyoung lives here.... it's so pretty • ....maybe one day that will be your hometown too • MOVING ON • Jinyoung takes you to the finest restaurant he knows • his mum ONLY brought her clients there to eat so he knows it's serious • parks his fancy car right next to the entrance • you're wondering how he can afford it • he's still in college • maybe he's in the mafia? or a stripper? • okay i'm sidetracking again I'm sorry • with your arms linked, Jinyoung walks up to the host and confidently says, "I have a reservation under Mr. Bae Jinyoung, table for two" • A S D F G H J K L • dinner isn't as tense as you figured it would be • there's still laughter, jokes, and small talk about your school life • it feels the same - if you minus the fanciness of the place - as one of your regular dates on campus • no matter what, Bae Jinyoung is your boyfriend. the type of date doesn't change who he is • the walks to class • the on-campus dates • staying up late to cram for finals • helping him with his presentation slides • going to watch a movie at the media centre • visiting his dorms with food in the middle of the day when you found out he had been cooped up in there and refused to eat lunch • thank you Daehwi • you propped your head in your hands, sighing but beaming • one hand reached out to grab Jinyoung's, he didn't complain • your hands intertwined lovingly • "my college days are so much better with you"
Wanna-One Bae JinYoung - Together
✽ featuring: bae jinyoung
✽ genre: fluff
✽ word count: 1693 words
✽ summary: your strong and masculine front that you put on everyday with your group of friends has suddenly dissolved into nothing from the touch of his hand.
the incident happened during our third year of high school
having moved to new classes, you were separated from your usual group that you hung out with ever since freshman year
i guess you could say they weren’t the greatest of influences
you usually hung out with a group of 6, consisting of 2 girls and 4 boys
you and kang daniel were the alphas of the group, leading the group into causing a commotion around school
this consisting of bullying people from the top academic classes
one time, you 6 were up to it again
bullying some poor boy, pushing him around after school, making him drop his materials and stationary
jinyoung, your class prefect, was doing patrols around the school after school that day
hearing something odd just attracted him to the sound
after seeing your inhumane act, he quickly barged in to diffuse the situation
“hey! you six again, lay off him. mrs kim is just in the next room you know,”
the act of him exercising authority made the group of you scoff
one by one, the group of 6 left the scene
however, when it was your turn to walk past jinyoung, he snickered
“its the 4th time for you, y/n, before you get suspended”
“yeah yeah whatever,”
with a simple wave of a hand, you signalled for him to leave your sight
he ran towards the victim to help him up
joining back the 6, you heard them talking about jinyoung
“tch, he’s such a good-two-shoes,”
“no shit sherlock, he’s a prefect”
“i hate those people”
this made the group of you laugh
after that incident, you noticed jinyoung started to pay attention to you more
he probably just wants to find fault in your actions in school just to get you suspended
his slight smirk on his face as you pull out a packet of sweets during class just says everything
did i mention he sits beside you during class? i guess that makes it worse doesn’t it aha
you tried to avoid all forms of contact with him after that
but that failed after your teacher paired you two up to conduct a chemistry experiment in the lab
for some reason, you felt a bit tense
its probably because of chemistry right? it was your first experiment that year, maybe its that
once the experiment was signalled to commence, you two faced each other
“i’ll get the retort stands, burettes and pipettes okay? you can set up the acids”
ok, jinyoung wants you to set up the solutions. not that difficult right?
as you read the instructions, you just could not determine the type of acids used
as you tried to analyse the instructions page as if it was morse code, jinyoung was just staring at you
“tch, its hydrochloric acid, you slowpoke”
he reaches over you to grab the bottle of hydrochloric acid, allowing you to take a whiff of his cologne off his sleeve
{what the hell am i doing?}
the rest of the experiment had to be guided by jinyoung as you were not especially bright in chemistry
for some reason you just could not figure out what was on your mind
why am i feeling this way?
questions of wonder clouded your mind, preventing you from writing the formula correctly and performing the experiment effectively
“you okay? you look like you have just seen a ghost,”
jinyoung said, as he peered from behind his retort stand
you didn’t reply him, only to look around frantically and nod slightly
he noticed something was wrong, and slowly approached you
placing his warm palm on your forehead, he tried to check if you were having a fever as you were oddly different today
“your face is pale today, you sure you don’t want to take a rest at the sick bay or something? you can get an excuse letter from the teacher,”
during this point of time, your faces were unnaturally close to one another
your heart pounds your ribcage, trying to force its way out
{what is going on with me???}
your face burns
(oh no, am i blushing???????????)
“i-i’m fine!” you said as you pushed his hand off your forehead
you looked at the ground in shame
your strong and masculine front that you put on everyday with your group of friends has suddenly dissolved into nothing from the touch of his hand
you felt so inferior, you had no idea what this feeling was
“okay then, if you need to stop and take a rest, tell me okay?”
you nodded and looked away
trying to begin the experiment, you stood up
but unfortunately, your legs were as weak as jelly
your hands were shaking as well
so trying to pour the acid was a hard task
and apparently your hands thought it was a hard task too
and you spilled some hydrochloric acid on your hand
“oh my god, shit!”
you ran towards the sink, placing it under running water
it burns your wrist
jinyoung notices, and runs over as well
“what happend?”
he glanced over at your lab table, only to see some spilled hydrochloric acid on the table and a open jar of acid accompanying it
he glances back at your hand, sighs and takes it into his hands
still under running water, he proceeds to rub the burning spot
your stomach churns
his hand is so warm and soft??? is this even a boy???
your heart skips a beat
actually multiple beats
you could have died on the spot right there
carrying your hand to the side-benches, he reached for a towel and slowly dabs the spot
“does it still hurt?”
you shake your head
“you should really sit out on todays experiment, you’re not like your usual self today,”
“i’m fine,”
you glanced away again, only to feel your cheeks turning bright pink
“are you sure you’re okay? i can help-”
he reaches for your hands and this shocks you
you turned to face him, letting him see the bright pink that has burned through your cheeks
seeing that, he let go of your hands and rubbed the back of his neck as he turned pink as well
“a-ah, sorry, let’s carry on with the experiment,”
he walked swiftly past you, and carried on with the experiment
after that, he started communicating with you more
and you didn’t seem to avoid him anymore
he would say hi to you in the halls
and you would say hi back
which kindoff confused your lil rebel squad
you tried to amend your rebel ways, so you stopped hanging out with the squad
you started spending your lunch breaks with jinyoung in the library as you found out his group of friends were in another class with a different lunch break timing
so you decided to accompany him
he would be studying, and you would be beside him, probably sleeping
while you sleep sometimes he would just glance at you, seeing how cute you are
but immediately feels bad as he thinks he’s taking advantage of you and he looks away in shame, all red-faced
as he always comes to school early to complete homework, you would surprise him from the back
after school he would have student council meetings and you would wait for him to walk home together
this one time you guys were walking together and he told you you needed to extend your skirt (you shortened it as you thought it would be cool in le rebel squad)
you immediately turned red as you thought it was some kind of way to make a move on you
but he realised what he said and took it back
“i-i mean its part of my duty as a prefect! it’s like, violating the dress code..”
this created a lil playful relationship between you two
and obviously he likes you a lot
so he would try to find ways to confess to you
once you two were walking home together through a park
your hands were only inches apart, which sparked the idea in him to hold hands with you
but when he tried to move in, you literally used that hand to point to some bird in the trees
this kindoff made him retract his hand and make him think about what he almost did
but one final time he decided to do it was during lunch break, in the library
while you were busy sleeping, he slipped a note into your skirt pocket
your hair also draped onto your face, so he would use his fingers to shift it behind your ear (wow what a kdrama action)
and you would wake up from it, so he acts like nothing happened
once you got to your last class of the day, you were rummaging through your pocket and found the note
you read it and it basically had his entire confession written on paper
you were super happy!!
you almost screamed and interrupted the teacher
when jinyoung left the class to help the teacher to carry books, you slid a note back under his biology textbook
when he came back, as usual you were waiting for him to finish packing and fell asleep (girl you need some slEEP)
no one else was in class
he noticed and read your note, which made him super bubbly
he slowly approached you
seeing you peacefully sleeping always made him warm inside
sitting on the chair in front of you he pulled over to you
he laid a small kiss on your forehead, waking you up
once you woke up, you rubbed your eyes, only to see jinyoung looking at you with a loving face
he took both your hands and brought it to his face
“want to go to the dessert shop today?”
you smiled and nodded
yAy yALL are cUtE
dates with him are super adorable
you would go to sweet shops, the amusement park, and lil cafés
he loves to tease you and make you all flustered because thats cute af!!
he loves to spoil you with desserts and win you toys in like claw-machine games
ahh boyfriend goals
✽ it moved from a story to a bullet-point thing
✽ i guess its my style??
✽ suggestions boxes are always open~
