If people acknowledged that processing traumatic and life changing events takes time, we'd be a lot more healing oriented.

I just paid a shitton of money to get a paper saying what I already knew but no one else believed. Feels like a well spend money tho, proving to society I was right all along.

When it comes to gender/sexuality/etc. its often very difficult for neurodivergent people to be able to find exactly what label fits them
Often its difficult for us to pin down our emotions enough to establish certain things, which makes it common for us to reject things altogether such as labeling ourselves as nonbinary
Of course this isn't everyone, but it is a large enough number to see a corrilation
So just know, if you are struggling with your Identity as a neurodivergent person, thats totally normal (not sarcasm) and if you need to use a label that isn't 100% correct, don't worry about it. You can always change it later :)

It's come to a point in my life where I now take my ear defenders every place I go because of noise. I used to be very ashamed and embarrassed of going out wearing them because I felt like I'd be judged and seen as “the weird kid”, but I've noticed that even if people look most of the time, they're not bothered! I don't know who needs to hear this, but don't stop yourself from using something that you NEED that will help you because you fear what people will think. Wear those ear defenders, play with those stim toys and be awesome!

Does anyone know what the chances of having autistic children are, given that one of the parents is autistic? I can’t find it anywhere online. I can only find the chances of having autistic kids, given that the parent’s *sibling* is autistic. What about the parent themself? Has this not been studied? I’m just curious what my odds of having autistic kids like me are
Thanks in advance!

autistic childhood is like: *hides in library* *is ostracized by peers* *puts hand out car window to feel the wind pulling your hand* *hides under desk* *is forced to hug relatives* *spins in a circle* *is bullied* *screams when something changes* *is whispered about by adults* *hides under bed* *picks a fictional universe and mentally lives in it* *is ostracized by peers* *watches same movie over and over* *acts out the same story with your toys over and over again* *paces* *imitates noises you hear* *is ostracized by peers* *screams when somebody touches your stuff* *accidentally says something rude and is punished* *makes weird facial expressions by accident* *is either loved or hated by teachers* *hides in a bush* *is whispered about by adults* *is ostracized by peers* *hides* *is bullied* *hides* *hides* *is whispered about* *hides* *is ostracized* *hides* *hides* *hides* *hides*

Okay, I know I normally use this account to shitpost about how I hate myself and want to destroy myself, but I’m at a weird point and I could actually use a bit of help.
I recently received the results for the psychological evaluation i underwent and rather than the ADHD diagnosis I was expecting, I was diagnosed with Asperger’s syndrome. I recognized this as a possibility but it seemed like the far unlikelier possibility.
The analogy I have been using is it’s like I’ve spent the last three years practicing roller hockey, I followed all the roller hockey blogs watched all the roller hockey videos, then when I got to the game, someone handed me a field hockey stick and pushed me out onto the field.
I’ve been handed a ball I don’t really know what to do with.
Are there any good references or master posts for the newly diagnosed? Especially the newly diagnosed adult? (31F)
