hi this is the same anon about the acwnr ask! im glad i decided to resend the ask because i loved your insight and it made a lot of sense to me! so, thank you for answering <3 i also have another question, which i think you may have answered before in the past, but im not entirely sure so i apologize if you've answered this already. i saw a few asks you answered recently about erwin's role in acwnr and it really opened my eyes more to erwin as a character and his mindset. i also reread the manga recently and i remembered how differently erwin's speech at the end was handle in the anime and i wanted to know which you prefer/seems more like erwin. im not sure if isayama wrote acwnr or not so im not entirely sure which accurately depicts erwin during that moment.
No worries! I'm glad to answer any questions you might have!
The general consensus seems to be that Erwin's speech in the manga is the one that hues closest to Erwin's actual character. A lot of people criticize the OVA for making Erwin colder than he is in the manga, either the main one or the "No Regrets" one. Isayama didn't write "No Regrets", but I suspect he had input on the graphic novel, because Levi's characterization in particular is much better than it was in the visual novel that the manga was initially based on. Isayama also conducted an interview with the artist on the manga, which is included in the back of the collected edition of it. I really like the OVA, despite some people bad-mouthing it, lol. I thought it was really well done, and I really liked some of the additional scenes, like the one of Levi telling Furlan and Isabel that they aren't going on the first mission outside the walls and he grows visibly upset and frustrated when they fight him on it. That's very in character for Levi, to try and protect them as best he can. Most of the criticism seems to come from it's characterization of Erwin and from them having to cut several scenes due to probably time and budget constraints. Otherwise I think it's very well done, but Erwin definitely comes across much meaner and cold hearted in the OVA than he normally would. In certain scenes, he's downright dismissive toward Levi and seemingly not very sympathetic to his pain. I think in the manga, at the beginning, Erwin came across that way, but as the story progressed, he slowly became less cold toward Levi. So when discussing "No Regrets" in relation to actual canon, I always refer to the manga and nothing else.
I wrote a super long chapter by chapter analysis of "No Regrets", if you're interested in a more in depth examination of it, which you can read here:

Odd numbers for Levi?
YEEEEEEEE alright here we go!!!!
1. how did you discover your f/o’s content?
My ex introduced me to the show! He really wanted me to watch it with him, but that was a challenge which I'll explain in the next question. A former friend's gf at the time lent me a couple volumes of the manga which I read and then I watched the first season with my ex.
 3. describe the first time you watched/played/read your f/o’s source content.
Oh boy. So…. The first time I watched AoT was a disaster to say the least. My ex got me to watch the first episode with him and I full on ugly cried. I was so devastated by what happened that I refused to watch any more. Sometime later my friend's gf convinced me to try reading the manga since it might be easier for me to process/cope with the deaths in that format. My ex was pretty pissed when he found out I dared to read the manga but not watch the show with him, but whatever it's not like I'd been hiding it from him. Anyways, I ended up watching the whole first season with him and loved it!
 5. if your f/o is from a series, were you into the source content from the start or did you come in later? if you came in later, what was the most recent release when you got into it?
I came in later, though I can't really say for certain when given how long it took me to get into it. I think when I saw the first episode, season 1 was only available subbed because I do remember at the start of the episode telling my ex that if we did watch it in full that I wanted to wait for the dub cause I can't keep up with subtitles. By the time I had read the manga and actually watched the show, the English dub was out on Netflix but season 2 hadn't aired yet. (My ex also gave me hell for not watching that when it came out but this is just another reason why he's an ex. Sorry to keep bringing him up but my history with AoT and my relationship with Levi is unfortunately tied to him.)
 7. are there any specific scenes/chapters/moments of your f/o that you find yourself going back to revisit more often than any other?
I'll be honest, I have a hard time going back and rewatching the show cause I just keep getting flustered when I see Levi. But the one scene I've been able to consistently get myself to pull up on youtube when I need to see Levi is Eren's trial for some reason. I have no clue why that's the scene I can rewatch but it is and his voice still kills me every time.
 9. if your f/o has been represented in more than one way (i.e. in a book AND a movie, in a movie and then recasted for a reboot later, etc.), which version of them is your favorite?
Ooh ya know now that I think about it, there have been several iterations of Levi (manga, anime, ovas, games, etc). But my favorite has to be a tie between anime Levi and ACWNR ova Levi. I honestly didn't really connect with any of the characters when I read the manga so anime Levi is the version of him that I first really knew (plus voiced by Matthew Mercer need I say more). I also love ACWNR Levi despite the fact the ovas are only available subtitled, but he is GORGEOUS. I suppose I'd have to go with anime Levi though because I really love how he had grown and matured by that time.
 11. do your friends/family know that you’re into the content that your f/o comes from or do you keep this interest to yourself?
LOL Yes, they absolutely know. If you saw my room, you would understand. There is no keeping it a secret.
 13. do you have a favorite line your f/o has ever said?
No, not particularly. I mean, pretty much every line makes me swoon since his voice is so beautiful.
 15. do you own any merchandise from your f/o’s source content? what is it?
Do I own merch? LOL oh boy… Shall I list it all? I think I will. 2 t shirts, 1 tank top, Survey Corps jacket, cloak, boots and patch, keychains: 5 Levi, 1 Erwin, 1 Hanji, 1 Annie, and 1 armored titan (Annie and Armored titan I got in mystery packs trying for Levi), 2 Levi buttons, 1 Levi sticker, 1 Eren sticker, 1 Levi/Eren bookmark, A Choice With No Regrets manga vol 1 and 2, AoT season 1 part 1 and 2 on bluray, AoT 2 game for ps4, titan Eren pop figure, Tamashi Buddies Levi figurine, Figma Levi figurine, Levi and Shignashina trio wall scroll, a collage poster of the veteran trio and Shiganshina trio, and last but certainly not least my 2 Levi plushies.
….I need more XD

Interviews with Araki Tetsuro, Asano Kyoji, and Isayama Hajime from the Funimation Season 2 Blu-Ray
Image credits to @godkingreiss, who gave permission for these to be shared here!
The recently-released Funimation Blu-Ray set of SnK Season 2 includes the above interviews with Chief Director Araki Tetsuro, Chief Animation Director Asano Kyoji, and Isayama Hajime!
Some highlights of the three extensive interviews:
Araki notes that the season 2 OP is about the “essence of life and the history of humankind,” and the ED is based very much on Isayama’s personal preferences.
Araki gives special praise to friend and episode director Hirao Takayuki, whom he has known since they worked together at the studio MADHOUSE. Takayuki was responsible for the storyboards of episodes 30, 32, and 36, and served as Unit Director for episodes 32 and 37.
One reason for Ymir’s flashback being added early was due to a necessity for an additional half an episode worth of content after everything in the original manga arc was adapted. Araki also wanted to bring some resolution to Ymir and Historia’s relationship.
The penultimate episode, “Charge” (36), was quite a challenge for the staff to animate.
Isayama was apparently actually influenced by Hannes’ portrayal in the anime’s season 1, which led to his characterization at the end of this manga arc (Also end of season 2).
Asano states that Yamada Ayumi created all the side character designs for season 2. He had loved her work as animation director on the ACWNR OVA and decided to add her as a third animation director for season 2.
Maintaining the art quality as well as the “characters’ expressions and mannerisms” was of utmost importance for season 2. As such, they focused on perfecting those elements while allowing the action animation team to perfect all the battle sequences.
Reiner was the easiest to animate.
Asano’s top three scenes: 1) 26: Mike’s death. 2) 30: Survey Corps swoop in to save the trapped 104th. 3) 31: Reiner and Bertholt reveal their identities.
For Isayama, how the seiyuu portrayed their respective characters in season 1 had a significant influence in how he wrote their dialogues in future manga chapters.
Hosoya Yoshimasa/Reiner’s delivery of his identity reveal was meant to sound like he was “at a restaurant.” Isayama wanted to give him a standing ovation for how great the performance was.
Isayama’s top three scenes: 1) 26: Beast Titan’s appearance and Mike’s death. 2) 29: The 104th battle the small Titan inside Utgard castle. 3) 34: Eren and Reiner’s intense verbal argument.
Isayama thinks that they may have gone overboard/”too far” with Nanaba’s final moments.
Isayama felt that manga volumes 13-16 were when he was most disappointed with his work, but hopes that season 3 will wipe away regrets.

Note
On your post where you showed your snk shelfs, what are all the manga volumes you have on the shelves? Specifically the first, fourth, and fifth shelves.
On the first shelf is the English translation of volumes 1-20 (I’m a little behind on the publications rn ^^’). I have 2 volume 20′s because I forgot to cancel the standard edition pre-order when the limited edition was announced. :’)
The fourth shelf are the OSTs from the show and recap movies, all 7 character songs, and then Japanese volumes 1, 12-19 and 22, then the Japanese publications of ACWNR. On the right side of shelf four are the Japanese and English versions of the OVAs, the Japanese versions of the reacap movies and then S1 of the anime from Funi.
On the bottom shelf I have the Japanese Lost Girls light novel, the English publications of ACWNR Vol. 1 & 2, English Lost Girls Vol. 1 & 2, English Before The Fall volumes 1-10, English Chuugakkou volumes 1-4, Lost Girls English light novel, that choose your own adventure SnK book, the English translation of the first guidebook and the anime guidebook, and then finally volumes 1-3 of SnK Colossal Edition. After that are the 5 S1 art books.
