Hi, for the ask game, here’s a few
🪐 ⇢ name three good things going on in your life right now
🐝 ⇢ tag your biggest supporter(s) and say one nice thing about them
🌸 ⇢ do you have any pets? if you do, post some pictures of them
Hi anon! Thanks for the ask! :)
🪐 ⇢ name three good things going on in your life right now
The idea bank is back in business and I'm writing consistently again!
Taylor Swift Dance Night is next and I cannot wait!
My daughter is at such a fun age right now (aside from all the teething. the molars are a B*TCH), and I love watching her learn and grow <3
🐝 ⇢ tag your biggest supporter(s) and say one nice thing about them
Oh gosh. I have so many constants. Like, truly. Any time I post a story, I know there are some diehard readers of mine that not only follow my stuff, but also leave the kindest comments on every single update. You readers are the true superheroes here. Thank you for supporting my hobby. You have no idea what it means to me (I'm afraid to mention anyone by name because I don't want to leave anyone out). But I will give a special shout out to @my-patronus-is-a-champagne-glass - you are perhaps one of my biggest cheerleaders and I am so thankful to have connected with you through fic! You are so kind and I love that you love the Be My Queen universe as much as I do!
🌸 ⇢ do you have any pets? if you do, post some pictures of them
Sure do! I have a dog, whose name is Bella (short for Bellatrix) and oh dear lord does she embody her namesake. I'll try to add a pic soon.
Thanks again for the ask!

What's in a Gift?
Fic Title: What’s in a Gift?
Author Name: adenei
Selected Trope: OOTP Missing Moments
Brief Summary: Hermione’s reaction to her Christmas gift from Ron.
WC: 741
Rating: G
TW: None
*************************
Hermione stares blankly at the opaque frosted bottle in her hands with the small golden top. “Perfume?” she asks to no one in particular. “But what am I meant to do with this?”
“Um, wear it?” Ginny responds, startling Hermione.
  “Well, yes, but…why?”
“Merlin’s pants, Hermione. It’s a bloody good thing Ron isn’t here to see your reaction.”
“What? No! No, it’s not that I don’t—I do appreciate it, I just…don’t understand.”
  “What’s not to understand?”
Hermione opens her mouth, then shuts it, then opens it again, but no words come out. The reason is there—in her head—but she doesn’t know how to verbalize it to Ginny.
She and Ron are friends. The same as they’ve been ever since Halloween four years ago. They sit together in class, do their homework side-by-side, share mealtimes, hang out in their spare time…
  Oh.
Now that she thinks about it, they do spend nearly every waking moment together. But so do she and Harry! And he didn’t give her something like this. No, he gave her something practical. Something useful—not that perfume isn’t useful, she supposes—but Harry’s gift is black and white. It’s expected.
But it also doesn’t make her heart flutter in the same strange way it does when Ron sits a little too close on the sofa in the common room, or when their fingers brush during rounds.
“Ron and I are friends,” she parrots her thoughts out loud this time, knowing Ginny’s probably still looking for an answer.
  Ginny frowns. “That’s…it?”
Hermione looks up, then back down at the perfume again and wrinkles her brow. Then, alarm bells sound in her mind. Perfume is not a gift friends get for each other. Especially when the recipient doesn’t usually wear it often.
Come to think of it, the last time Hermione remembers using a spritz of anything was from a sample bottle she picked up in Hogsmeade. And that was…
  “The Yule Ball,” she gasps.
Hermione brings the bottle back up to her nose and takes in a long, deep inhale. It’s the same scent. But how—how could he know? Did he remember? The row they’d had after the ball echoes in her mind.
Next time there’s a ball, ask me. And not as a last resort!
There wasn’t a ball this year. What if this is his way of asking her something? But…what? And why couldn’t he just come out and say it?
Hermione’s so lost in her own mind that she hardly notices Ginny’s eye roll before she hoists herself off the bed. “I give up. I’m going down to breakfast.”
As Hermione watches Ginny go, she supposes she should probably get up and ready as well, but she can’t seem to shake the thought that there could be more to Ron’s gift than what meets the eye. Determined to find out for sure, she concocts a well-laid plan to see if she can detect any hidden meaning.
But then—of course—she runs into Ron and Harry as soon as she opens the door and everything she’s thought through vanishes. Plastering a smile on her face to hide the internal freakout, she ignores Ron completely and addresses Harry first.
“Thanks for the book, Harry!” she said happily. “I’ve been wanting that New Theory of Numerology for ages!” Then, she pauses, realizing she’s completely gushed about Harry’s gift and has no idea what to say to Ron. She bites her lip, telling herself that she has to say something to Ron. So she adds, “And that perfume is really unusual, Ron.”
Immediately, she realizes it’s the wrong thing to say. His ears turn pink and he averts his gaze, staring pointedly at the stairs. “No problem” is all he can manage, and though it sounds cheery, Hermione knows it’s forced.
She desperately wants to pull him aside and tell him she didn’t mean it like that, but with everything that’s just happened with his dad, and how Harry’s been a closed-off mess lately—even more so than usual—she knows that now is not the best time.
But there is one thing she can do. Dashing back up the stairs, she disappears back into her shared room with Ginny. She grabs the bottle, takes the lid off, and adds one spritz to her wrist. It’s not much, but she doesn’t want it to be overpowering.
Hopefully, it’s enough for Ron to notice she does appreciate it—until she gets a chance to rectify things later.

Yo
Just so you know the poll you made has been tied with Gryffindor and Slytherin a few times
and also, do you have any Romione fics in the works
Hi, anon
I didn’t know this, haha well that’s interesting….green is my favorite color so might be a perfect fit lol
One is a fluffy/comedy Romione fic, is a muggle AU in which Jily lives!
James/Lily are owners of a Superstore and the Golden Trio are employees that go through so much craziness. It’s a bit of a slow burn and as always there WILL be angst (plus, I’ve never watched the Superstore, but I got inspired by my job at a superstore)
not sure if you want a snippet…..
I also have a TSwift inspired Romione fic that I’m hoping to post soon, think about Hermione and the girls walking in on Ron/Harry & the boys having their own Eras Tour in the living room because why not?! Can you guess which songs they’re singing to? Anon, have you ever been to the “Wheezy’s Eras Tour?” You will!
Thanks for this ask, and I can’t wait to bring more Romione into the community (also I believe you sent another ask? But that one was locked so thought I answer here)
Any recs of Romione writers? Who’s your favs?
I’m basically still a fangirl of each of these people, plus it doesn’t help that I’m super nervous when trying to talk to them, but I’d say I do a great job at supporting and commenting on their stories lol maybe one day I’ll be normal, whatever that is.
A few Romione writers (also be sure to let them know how amazing they are!)
@adenei @be11atrixthestrange @azaleablueme @katenoteight @trademarkblue @acnelli @honouraryweasley12 @voldemorts-tap-shoes @mertronus @cheesyficwriter @reallybeth9 @bluegreenandpurple @mertronus @my-patronus-is-a-champagne-glass @constitutionalweasleymonarchy and Rennervator (on ao3) I know I’m missing a lot more but blame it on my hyper fixation that Jily caused in my heart! I swear it’s like a drug and I’m addicted 😩
Who’s your favs?
Now….why you have to put a wand to my throat like this? That’s like asking Molly who her favorite child is (def not Ron 😭 💔 I think it’s Percy!) Haha, I’m sure I’ve fangirled into a the review section on ao3 of many stories and possibly dms, but I won’t say who!
Thanks anon, and sorry for the long answer 😅 I think the authors above are used to this by now…makes me wonder if I’m Colin Creevey reincarnated 🤣

20 questions for fic writers!
Thank you so much for tagging me @cassiaratheslytherpuff :)
1. How many works do you have on AO3?
25, but two of them are collections of microfics (up to 50 words per story) and little ficlets (up to 300 words) I write every now and then for challenges in a HP fanfic discord server.
2. What’s your total AO3 word count?
60,754
3. What fandoms do you write for?
Only for a Harry Potter so far.
4. What are your top 5 fics by kudos?
My Boyfriend (Harry/Ron, 7k+, E)
Another Shot (Ron/Draco, 4K+, E)
First Time Falling (Harry/Ron, 3k+, T)
Small Delights (31 microfics with various ships and ratings)
A Favourite (Hermione/Ron, 2k+, T)
5. Do you respond to comments? Why or why not?
I do reply to all comments because they brighten my day whenever I get them. I don’t think that writers have to respond though. Writers invest a lot of time and creativity to create something for us for free and our payment is kudos & comments. That’s fair imo ;)
6. What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?
Probably My Boyfriend
7. What’s the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?
I guess almost all of my fics.
8. Do you get hate on fics?
I got hate on one fic that touches on a difficult topic, but I was smart enough to enable comment moderation for that fic, and I also tried AO3s block feature for the first time :)
9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind?
I do, but I’m still kinda newish to write it. Check out my E-rates fics and you know what kind haha.
10. Do you write crossovers? What’s the craziest one you’ve written?
Didn’t write a crossover yet.
11. Have you ever had a fic stolen?
Not as far as I know.
12. Have you ever had a fic translated?
Nope
13. Have you ever co-written a fic before?
No. And I don’t think I would have much fun. Too much pressure to get ready with my part(s).
14. What’s your all time favourite ship?
First place gets shared by Romione and Ronarry. Though I shipped Romione already while reading the books, so…it’s probably Romione.
15. What’s a WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will?
Just have drafts so far. I have so many ideas for multi chapter fics, but my writing muse is still on strike rn.
16. What are your writing strengths?
To describe feelings, I suppose.
17. What are your writing weaknesses?
Unfortunately, I’m not good at outlining fics. That’s why I had never written more than a one-shot haha.
18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic?
I’m learning italian rn, so maybe one or two sentences might make it into a fic one day.
19. First fandom you wrote for?
Twilight. Left that fandom pretty fast though and the fics were deleted a loooong time ago.
20. Favourite fic you’ve written?
That’s a tough one. My Boyfriend definitely is one of my favs, but I loved writing Orchestra. It’s not really one of my more popular fics, but I think I did a good job with it and I’m still very proud.
Tagging @reallybeth9 @voldemorts-tap-shoes @adenei @lumosatnight to answer the questions too if you like.
P.S Four Gallons of Oblivious by @cassiaratheslytherpuff is a masterpiece and one of my all time favs <3

“How happy and satisfied am I with my life right now?
If you ask this question at the end of a thoroughly great day, the answer is very often positive.
After a horrible day (or a string of them), you’re more likely to say that life sucks.
The key to a great life is simply having a bunch of great days.
Think about it one day at a time." - Pete Adeney
How do you know you are making progress on your journey towards becoming all that God has created you to be?
It’s by how well you manage your F.R.A.M.E.

Hide and Seek
Day 6, Story #1 is by @adenei
Title: Hide and Seek
Author: adenei
Pairing: Teddy Lupin/Victoire Weasley
Prompt: Babysitting
Rating: PG
TW: Mild Language
**********
“Don’t let them stay up too late,” Ginny reminds him as she opens the front door.
“And send us a Patronus if anything goes wrong. We’ll be here in an instant,” Hermione adds fretfully.
“Oi, ‘Mione, really? They’re not babies anymore!”
“Let’s go, or we’re going to miss our Portkey.”
Teddy laughs at the interaction. Of all the adults, it’s Harry who’s pressing them about tardiness. The foursome are headed on a weekend getaway, staying at the Delacours’ beachside cottage for three nights. James was shipped off to George and Angelina’s, while Rose opted to go to Percy and Audrey’s, so Teddy’s charges only include Albus, Hugo, and Lily.
“Everything’s going to be fine. I’ve got this! And if I don’t, I can think of at least five other Weasleys to call. Maybe even a Malfoy if I’m desperate.”
“That’s not funny, Lupin,” Ron warns as Ginny swats him upside the head.
“But if Scorpius does ask for Albus to go over for an afternoon, it’s fine!”
“Noted. Go enjoy your weekend!”
Teddy half shoves them out the door this time as he shuts and locks it behind them. The kids are out back playing in the garden, so Teddy goes out to join them. He’s chuffed that Harry and Ginny trust him enough to watch Al and Lily for the weekend. Plus, Ron and Hermione added Hugo to the mix. Normally, they’d be shipped off to the Burrow to stay with Molly and Arthur, but since it’s only a long weekend, and the kids are ten and twelve now, Teddy Lupin, a recent Hogwarts graduate, has been bestowed the responsibility.
He’s always been the mature older ‘sibling’—well, he counts himself as a sibling or cousin to all the Weasleys, but he’s not blood-related. Harry and Ginny half raised him, though, so he’s just as much a part of the family as any of the kids. Heck, maybe someday he’d officially be part of the family.
No, it’s too early to be having those thoughts.
But there’s one person who makes him happier than anything to know he’s not related to the Weasleys by blood. Victoire, his best friend and girlfriend. As Teddy sits back and gets comfortable on a patio chair, he lets his mind wander to spring afternoons spent by the lake as he observes the kids playing on the muggle swingset Harry insisted on putting together years ago.
“Who knew a giant Muggle toy would get so much use?”
Teddy jumps at the sound of a voice he’s not expecting.
“Vic! What are you doing here? I mean, not that I’m complaining, but…”
She laughs as Teddy backtracks. The sound is music to his ears, soft and lyrical, and something he’ll never tire of. Making her laugh is something he’s striven to do ever since they were young. When she fell off her toy broom, he made his hair change colors at a rapid pace in an attempt to make her giggle, and then there was the time she broke up with her first boyfriend during her fourth year, when he’d used the Jelly Legs Jinx on the bloke’s legs while he walked over a patch of ice. Victoire’s laugh has always been the fuel that set his heart on fire.
“Well, you said you had to babysit this weekend, and I thought I might come over and help entertain my cousins,” she explains as she pulls up a chair next to him.
“Yeah, but the adults have only just left! You don’t think I can keep the kids alive on my own for more than an hour?”
“Of course, I do!” She slides her hand in his while waiting for a beat, “especially since James isn’t here.”
“Oh, I see how it is! James isn’t that bad.”
“No, he’s not. He just likes mischief. It’s a common Weasley trait.”
“And a Potter one, too, if I’m not mistaken. Harry and Ginny never stood a chance, especially after naming him after Harry’s dad and godfather.”
“True. When I have kids, they won’t be named after anyone. They deserve to have their own unique names.”
Teddy offers a sad smile at Victoire’s words. He’s named after his dad and granddad and doesn’t mind all that much, but he sees where Victoire is coming from, what with being named after a bloody war for Merlin’s sake.
“Maybe you shouldn’t have insisted on entering this world on the second of May, then. I mean, come on, Vic, of all the days!”
“Oh, sod off, Lupin,” she feigns seriousness while her eyes shine with mirth.
“I do agree with you, though. There’s enough people in this family who’re named after somebody else. I don’t mind it, but I do like the concept of original names. Though, I do think we’re a ways off from baby name talk, don’t you?”
He can’t help but lighten the mood. Teddy’s sure she means nothing by the comment and is just thinking out loud, but something still possesses him to weave it into their future. Perhaps it’s to gauge her thoughts in a casual manner?
“Probably, but it’s fun to talk about, isn’t it? I mean, it’s not like we’re actually picking names or anything.”
“Or determining how many kids we’re going to have…”
“Which would absolutely be—”
“Two!” they both say at the same time.
It’s really more of an inside joke, with Teddy witnessing firsthand the chaos that is the Potter household with three kids, and Victoire being the oldest of three. And yet, there’s some truth laced into their lighthearted conversation.
“See?” Victoire says as she leans in close, “This is why we’re good together.”
She plants a kiss on his cheek at the exact wrong moment because that’s when Hugo shouts,
“Victoire! Look, guys! Vic’s here!”
“Oops,” she whispers bashfully in his ears.
So far, they’ve managed to keep their relationship a secret from the family, but it looks like that’s about to end sooner rather than later. Of course, Harry and Ginny know, and Vic told Bill and Fleur when she came home at the end of term, but the cousins were still blissfully unaware… until now.
The three kids run over to Vic and Teddy, and Lily eyes them with curiosity. “Teddy, why did Vic just kiss you on the cheek?”
There are a multitude of different answers Teddy could choose from. ‘No reason’, ‘don’t worry about it’, ‘it’s nothing’, but instead he opts for, “Why do you think, Lils?”
Her eyes grow wider than her small face allows, and a wide O forms on her lips. “Are you two… together?” she whispers.
Teddy and Vic share a look. They both know the secret’s out now.
“Yeah, Lils, we are,” Teddy admits as he holds up the hand that’s still intertwined with Vic’s.
If there weren’t wards in place, Teddy’s sure that Lily’s shriek of delight could have been heard for miles. Albus and Hugo, on the other hand, seemed disinterested in the whole ordeal.
“Can we play hide and seek or something?” Albus asked once Lily was done reacting to the news.
Point in case.
“Wait, who else knows?” Hugo interrupts Albus’s question and bringing the focus back on Teddy and Vic.
“Of all the cousins? Only you three,” Vic answers.
“Only us?” Lily gasps.
“Not even James?” Albus eyes Teddy curiously.
“Not even James,” Teddy confirms. “Tell you what, we can go play hide and seek now, but what about an even better game?”
All three look on expectantly, waiting for Teddy’s proposition.
“What if we play, ‘let’s see how long it takes James to figure out Vic and I are dating’? We can all place bets, and I’ll take whoever guesses the closest date out for ice cream.”
Vic flashes him a knowing smile as the kids contemplate his offer.
“I’m in,” Lily says without thinking it through.
“Me too,” Hugo agrees.
“But that means we’ll have to keep it a secret,” Albus realizes.
He’s much more intuitive at eleven than Teddy ever dreamed of being.
“Yeah. Everyone else has to find out on their own, which means you can’t tell anyone.”
Lily and Hugo both nod in agreement, and after a bit more pondering, Albus agrees.
“Okay, but can we pick dates later? I want to play!”
Ted and Vic both laugh as Teddy offers to count to twenty. He closes his eyes and makes a big show of counting while Vic remains at his side.
“Nice one.”
“Thanks,” he responds in between shouting numbers. “I figure James is thick enough that we’ll get at least a couple more weeks out of him. He is Harry’s son, after all...”
Not only did they get a couple of weeks out of the deal, but the rest of the summer. It wasn’t until September first when James caught them snogging behind a pillar on Platform Nine and Three-Quarters and ran to announce it to the world that the couple knew the jig was up.
“Looks like I owe Al a trip to Fortescue’s next time I see him.”

2021 Year in Review: Fanfic Writer Edition
Thank you @adenei for the tag!
BEHIND THE NUMBERS:
words written: ~350,000 (wowza!)
words published (AO3): ~350,000
# of published one-shots: Okay if we’re including drabbles here, then 88
# of completed multi-chaps: 8
# of fics in progress: 1 (Sweet Home Ottery)
# of ongoing multi-chaps: 2 (SHO and Romione Drabbles will be ongoing as long I drum up inspo!)
# of fic ideas waiting their turn: 4 (all of which I’ve at least written a little bit of!)
longest work: Lost in Translation 53,408 words
shortest work: We Live (Ron/Harry brotp), 788 words
most chapters in a fic: Lost in Translation (17)
highest # of kudos: Romione Drabbles
highest # of hits: Romione Drabbles
top 3 fics by kudos: Romione Drabbles, Isolated, Lost in Translation
top 3 fics by hits: Isolated, Lost in Translation, Ten Years
most challenging fic to write: I’d say my current WIP, Sweet Home Ottery. It’s challenged me to go more in-depth into the characters’ emotions and writing solely from Hermione’s POV is also challenging, as I find her a tricky character to write. This fic also includes flashback scenes at the start of each chapter, and I’ve put a lot of time into making sure that the past lines up with what’s been revealed in the present.
fic that came easiest to write: Find Me Under the Waterfall. This fic was just such a breath of fresh air, and pure fluff, I had a blast writing it. I also drew from some of my own personal experiences while traveling in terms of describing the setting/atmosphere of being on a holiday.
most true-to-the-outline fic: Ten Years. I don’t typically create detailed outlines before starting a multichapter, but this one I really wanted to make sure I had a sensible timeline for Ron/Hermione’s journey to finding each other.
most unlike-its-outline fic: Er…every other fic? Haha. Honestly that’s one of the best parts of writing for me. I never really know how a story is going to end until I get there and it’s a lovely journey to go on as a writer.
favorite reader freak-out: @romioneb on every single comment she’s ever gifted me with on one of my chapters. She is truly my cheesereader and I am super grateful for her friendship (also a BRILLIANT writer who loves to break your heart as much as she loves putting it back together again. Helloooo, Crushed or Pulley System, anyone?!?)
Also my betas give me life with their comments on all of the docs I send out to them during the editing process. They’re the best <3
most controversial scene: I don’t really have a specific answer for this one. Sometimes the characters in my angstier fics make some really questionable choices, but I love a good redemption arc. We all make mistakes, and it’s how we learn from them that matters.
hottest ask box topic of the year: Romione-centric Tumblr drabbles. I’ve had so much fun writing those, and it’s been nice to take a brain break from multi-chapters every so often to dive into another universe.
most loved OC: I don’t think I can speak for anyone else, but I enjoyed writing Harwell Ebonwood, the made-up Australian Minister for Magic in the first chapter of Sweet Home Ottery. I stan a boss who is supportive.
most hated OC: Again, I don’t speak for the readers, but Belinda Williams was definitely a villainous character in Lost in Translation. Nobody tries to hurt Romione and gets away with it!
favorite villain to write: ^^ Belinda.
favorite character to write: Writing Ron Weasley is such a bloody good time. I also adore writing friend Harry watching over his besties.
most i've cried while writing a scene: The entirety of chapter 9 of Sweet Home Ottery. It really was a catalyst for me and...I just…wow. It took a lot emotionally out of me.
most i've laughed while writing a scene: Awkward Weasley family dinner party in Sweet Home Ottery. I also wrote some ridiculously fun drabbles in which Ron recites pick-up lines to Hermione, writes drunken poetry, and taps into his inner Shakespeare: A Certain Kind of Magic, An Ode to Hermione, Thee Maketh Me Happy,
smuttiest smut scene: *blushes* I think it could be a toss-up between Alive, The Sweetest Release, or a scene from Find Me Under the Waterfall.
favorite kiss i wrote: Ohhhhh….I think I have a new favorite that I can’t give away yet. But I had a special fluttering feeling in my tummy writing the happy ending for Ten Years.
hardest trope/thing to write: Anything canon-compliant to be honest. I love the HP world, but it's so intricate, and it takes some thought to weave in those details when writing missing moments.
easiest trope/thing to write: I love writing muggle/magical AU. I wouldn't say it's easy, but you're definitely given more creative freedom to take the characters on a different journey.
proudest fic moment: Anytime I finish a multichapter! It’s truly a marathon and it’s fun to look back on. Kudos to all of you writers out there!
any fic regrets? Not at all! It’s been a year of growth and I am extremely proud of what I’ve accomplished and honestly truly honored that anyone has taken the time to read my little fics.

Hi!
For the ask game:
🪲 ⇢ add 50 words to your current wip and share the paragraph here
🌻 ⇢ tag someone you appreciate but don't talk to on a regular basis
Please and thanks
Hi anon!
Thanks for the ask :)
🪲 ⇢ Well, lucky, lucky you. Here's a snippet of what I just sat down to work on in a completely unpublished WIP. [it's Romione of course]
"When Hermione wakes the next morning, she’s immediately overwhelmed by the distinct earthy scent of cedarwood and a hint of orange—Ron’s shampoo—and digs her nose even further into the pillow. With each slow inhale, she becomes more alert, more conscious, until she’s aware of exactly how her body is positioned."
🌻 ⇢ oh gosh, there are so many people on here! Gotta say this shout out goes to @abradystrix. You ever just meet someone and you're like, yes, this person just gets me? That's abrady! And I'm so thankful that our shared thoughts on CC brought us together. Hope you're doing well, friend!
Feel free to send me an ask from this list!

Only the Beginning
Have a second kiss!
----------------------
Title: Only the Beginning Author: adenei Trope: Second Kiss Brief Summary: Everyone's hurting in the aftermath of the battle, but perhaps Ron is hurting the most. Hermione does her best to comfort him as she grapples with what comes next. Word Count: 1012 Rating: T TW: Mentions of death, blood, and war. A/N: Inspired by this fanart
Thank you Be11a for putting this together!
****
I'm obsessed with the thought of you here in my bed I'm in love with the back of your head And the way you pull me closer No regrets, no clothes, no money, no friends Nobody to say it won't last Will you love me 'til I'm older?
~Older [Lea Heart]
  Alive.
The word replays over and over in Hermione’s mind as she takes in the hollowed face staring back at her. She’s a shell of her former self—cheekbones so severe they may cut straight through her skin and eyes sunken in from how much weight she’s lost on the run. Even her hair is thin and stringy; damp ringlets cling to her neck and shoulders.
Despite washing off all the dirt, grime, and blood, she doesn’t feel clean. Death surrounds her and exhaustion seeps into her bones. She needs to move, but it’s impossible to pry herself away from the entrancing effect her reflection has.
That is, until the door to the boy’s bathroom creaks open. Hermione turns to see Harry closing the door behind him.
“Alright, Hermione?”
She nods and her voice is hoarse when she speaks. “Just finishing up.”
“Right. I’m going to shower. Ron’s out there.” He gestures to the door, answering her question before she can ask.
“How is he?”
The walk up to Gryffindor tower had been stilted. Ron was quiet and a vacant expression had taken over the usual brightness that shines in his eyes. She figured he could use some space, but judging by the way Harry rubs his neck and stares at the ground, she second-guesses her previous decision to leave him be for a while.
Hermione doesn’t waste another moment gathering her belongings and forces her lead-like legs to carry her back to Ron. When she emerges from the loo, he is sitting on his bed. His back is to her, and he makes no indication that he’s heard her shuffle through the door.
“R-Ron?”
He doesn’t move an inch with the sound of her voice, which is so unlike him. It’s the opposite of the care and attention Hermione had become so used to at Shell Cottage, and and she tries not to let it alarm her.
“Are you okay?” She tries again, though the question sounds asinine as soon as the words leave her lips. Of course he’s not okay. His brother died hours ago. How could he be fine?
She spirals into her thoughts and almost misses the desperate sob he fails to choke back. The convulsive jolt of his body snaps her out of the chiding and she rushes to where he sits. His face is in his hands now, and she wishes he wouldn’t hide his tears.
It’s her turn to take care of him. Hermione kneels in front of Ron, nudging his legs apart so she can coax his hands away from his face. He allows her to take his hands but doesn’t let go when his elbows come to rest on his knees. Instead, he holds on tighter, as if she’s a life vest keeping his head above water.
Hermione waits for him to compose himself, not pressuring him to talk. She’s learned from his countless naggings that there are times when people won’t want to talk, and though she desperately wants him to, she refuses to give in to the urge to push him. The lightest of chuckles bubbles in her chest when she notices him waiting for her to do it anyway.
“You’re not going to ask me to talk about it?” he croaks out.
She shakes her head. “I’m trying not to push. I figure the last thing we need right now is a row.”
He responds with a grateful smile and squeezes her hands.
“I do want to talk, but not about what you’re thinking.”
“Oh?” Her heart catches in her throat.
Their eyes meet and she’s relieved to see more life return to the shade of ice blue she’s grown to love so much.
“You kissed me.”
Heart now hammering harder than she can ever remember, she wills the courage to nod. “And you kissed me back.”
“Yeah.” The word is breathless as he searches her eyes. Hermione wants nothing more than to kiss him again, but there’s an unspoken understanding that she should wait.
“Did you mean it?” His second question sends shivers up Hermione’s spine.
“I’ll always mean it.”
“Me too.”
A hopeful smile spreads across his lips and before she knows it, Ron’s hand cradles the back of her head, tilting her face to meet his as their lips touch for a second time. He pulls her close with his free hand, while hers grips his waist. Her body sinks in against his, and a weight lifts off her shoulders as she attempts to tell him everything in one small gesture.
Even though she knows there will be countless opportunities to show him how she feels, Hermione is desperate for him to understand how much she’s longed for this. And now the war is over, they don’t have to hide anymore. They’ve survived so much; they deserve to relish in the fact that they’re alive.
The smile remains on Ron’s face when they break apart. His expression reassures her that even though things may not be easy right away, there’s hope for the future—their future—and it’s all she needs.
“I love seeing you smile,” she says as they sit close, their foreheads touching.
Ron chuckles. “I reckon there’ll be a lot more of that now that I get to do this.” He places another soft peck on her lips. “Hermione, I—”
She silences him with her finger. There will be time for more confessions later, but for now, she simply wants to relish this moment.
Things were falling into place, just like she’d always dreamed of. And for the first time since she found herself trapped in Devil’s Snare first year, Hermione doesn’t have to rely on cautious hope.
They won, the war is over, and with Ron by her side, her life is only just beginning.

Well Deserved (Romione, PG-13)
Title: Well Deserved
Pairing: Ron/Hermione; Hermione & Ginny friendship
Summary: A continuation of “Half of What I Oughta” at the request of @bowdawn and @adenei… Hermione has a hard time letting go of her perfect holiday plans. Ginny's there to help
Author Note: This story is inspired by someone I know who has had their Aaron Rodgers Hallmark ornament in the same spot on their tree since Christmas 2014 in order to send good vibes to the Packers even though their husband thinks it’s stupid (it’s me, y’all).
Second Author’s Note: The first author’s note is not an endorsement of Aaron Rodgers or Joe Rogan’s misinformation.
Read at AO3 or keep scrolling
“Hermione?”
“In here!” she called, quickly putting a bookmark between the pages as she scrambled to her feet. The throw that had been draped over her lap fell to the floor. Ron stepped through the archway of their cozy living room and she threw her arms around his neck.
“You’re home! What an amazing Christmas gift! I thought it wouldn’t be until the 22nd at the earliest!”
“Yeah, well, the surprise training mission sort of turned into a real mission,” he said, pulling back from her embrace.
“What?” she gasped.
“We caught Rowle,” Ron said. “The intention was that we’d find this Boggart hotbed in the cellar of an old pub was the source of all the issues but instead, we found Rowle living in the attic of an old post office.”
“Oh Merlin, that’s terrifying,” she replied.
“He almost ambushed Harry but—” Ron stopped suddenly.
“What? Is Harry okay?” Hermione asked, eyes wide.
“Yeah, yeah, he’s fine,” Ron said, waving her away as he stepped away and staring at the Christmas tree in the middle of the room.
“Is he at St. Mungo’s?” Hermione pressed.
“No, I spotted Rowle and stunned him before he could do anything,” Ron said, stepping closer to the tree.
“You did? All on your own?” Hermione said.
“Yeah, yeah, it was two on one,” he said, barely paying her attention as he squatted down.
“That’s amazing, love! And terrifying,” Hermione said.
“Sure but… what the hell is going on with the tree?” Ron asked, finally facing her.
“You apprehended a Death Eater on your own and you’re worried about the tree?” Hermione said incredulously.
“Why is my 1992 Cannons commemorative ornament all the way at the bottom, Hermione?” Ron demanded.
“I don’t know, Ron,” Hermione scoffed.
“When I left yesterday, it was right here, up front in the middle and under the star,” Ron insisted.
“Oh, Crookshanks knocked it off so I just hung it back up,” Hermione answered.
“Crookshanks can fly now?” Ron asked. “Because he can’t get up there!”
“You know he’s been jostling the tree,” Hermione said.
“So you just put it here at the bottom where he can definitely get it? And— is this my Joey Jenkins ornament at the back of the tree?”
“I-I,” Hermione stuttered.
“Hermione, are you trying to kill Dorkins?”
“What?” she shrieked.
“Dorkins! The manager! He collapsed in October but the day I put this ornament on the tree, up front and in the middle, he returned to his managing duties. They only lost that match by 40 and here you are, trying to jinx them!”
“Are you being serious right now?”
“Hell yes, I’m serious. Do you hate the Cannons?”
“No, I don’t hate the Cannons!”
“Because you said that you liked them because I liked them and you wanted me to be happy… did you move them because of Ginny?”
“You’re insane,” Hermione said.
“You did! You know that they’re playing them right before New Years. You’re a Harpies fan now. First Harry, now you.”
“I’m not a Harpies fan,” Hermione insisted.
“So what is it then? You were going on about your ‘aesthetic’,” Ron ranted, making quotation marks with his fingers. “Is that it? You just can’t let me have my two lousy ornaments on your perfect tree so you hid them away!”
“No!” Hermione insisted. “I’m fine with you having your two tacky ornaments.”
“Then why did you move them!” Ron asked.
“Because this is a different tree!”
Ron opened his mouth to yell again but quickly closed it. “It’s a what?”
“It’s not the same tree,” Hermione admitted.
“What happened to the other one?” asked Ron.
“It’s at Grimmauld Place,” she said.
“Then where did this one come from?”
“Well…” Hermione said, then sighed.
+++++
“Oh Hermione, it looks lovely in here,” Ginny said, walking into the room sipping a glass of wine.
“Thanks,” she smiled. “I’m pretty happy with the decorations. I’ve never really felt that strongly about it but something about Christmas…”
“And the tree looks great. Harry didn’t even bother to put one up,” Ginny said. “Except for this ugly Cannons ornament. Ugh, you let him have this right under the star?”
“It’s not that bad,” Hermione insisted. Ginny shook her head and plucked it off the tree.
“Much better here at the bottom. Just like the Cannons themselves,” Ginny quipped.
“Ginny! Don’t move that,” Hermione giggled, taking a pull from her own glass.
“And Joey Jenkins? You’re going to the back,” Ginny said, relocating the figurine.
“Are you quite done?” asked Hermione.
“With your tree? Yes, I am,” Ginny said. “And with this wine because I have news”
Hermione’s eyes widened. “What?”
“I’m starting for the Harpies in our next match on the 29th!” Ginny said with a smile.
“Oh Gin, that’s amazing!” Hermione said, hugging her friend.
“I just found out so you need to do Harry’s celebratory shots with me,” she said, pulling a bottle of Firewhiskey out of her bag.
“I’ll do one,” Hermione laughed.
Ginny poured them each a shot and handed one to Hermione. “Cheers!” Ginny said and they both drank.
“Oh, I’m so happy for you,’ Hermione said, as she watched warily while Ginny poured a second round.
“And you’ll be there cheering me on? I’m sure Ron will be rooting for the Cannons,” Ginny said, rolling her eyes.
“Of course,” Hermione said. “And I said one shot.”
“You need more than one if you’re going to live with Ron after cheering for the Harpies,” Ginny insisted. Hermione rolled her eyes before accepting it and sitting on the sofa.
“I’m going to get him a Harpies ornament for the tree,” Ginny said. “That’ll class it up.”
“Hey! There’s nothing wrong with my tree,” Hermione said.
Ginny laughed. “I know, I’m just joking. It really is gorgeous.”
“Yeah,” Hermione nodded. “Ron really did do his best.”
“I thought you didn’t want a transfigured tree?”
“Didn’t I tell you? I picked out the perfect tree and left Ron to pay for it. But before he could, some horrible woman apparently stole it from him.”
“What? He should have cursed her!”
“Right?” laughed Hermione. “Ron said she looked just like Umbridge so he wanted to but she was a Muggle so he was acting ethically.”
“Stupid Aurors’ code,” mumbled Ginny. “Harry’s always blaming stuff on that too.”
“Even non-Aurors can’t jinx Muggles without cause!”
“Stealing your tree is cause!”
“I’m not sure the Wizengamot sees it that way.”
“Anyway, he tried, she stole it and he bought a scrappy little tree that he transfigured. And apparently, he threatened the sales guy that I would come down there and pull a Rita Skeeter on him,” Hermione laughed.
“Did you?” said Ginny.
“No!”
“Well let’s do it now!” Ginny said. “Here, take one more for courage and let’s give that worthless employee a piece of our minds!”
“He was probably just avoiding a fight,” Hermione said, watching her friend pour two more drinks.
“He’s supposed to take care of the customer and that’s you! Finish that and let’s go,” Ginny said.
Hermione sighed.
++++
“Shh!” she whispered to Ginny, who had just knocked into a flower pot.
“Sorry,” Ginny replied. “I should have shrunk this.”
The two girls had arrived at the tree farm, found the salesman and gave him an earful. The salesman had apologized but the girls, now slightly inebriated, weren't satisfied.
“I’m so sorry about the tree but your boyfriend couldn’t be convinced to take another one,” he stuttered. “It’s so late in the season - you can take anything still left here for free.”
“I don’t want any of these. I want MY tree,” Hermione insisted.
“Miss, that tree is gone,” the salesman said.
“Where do they live?” Ginny demanded.
“What?” asked the startled salesman.
“The people that have her tree! We’ll take a tree and force them to switch with us,” Ginny said.
“Excellent idea,” nodded Hermione. “Address please.”
The salesman’s eyes widened. “I’m not giving you the address.”
“If you don’t, she’ll Rita Skeeter your ass,” said Ginny.
“I don’t know what that means,” the salesman said.
“And you’ll never need to if you tell us the address,” Hermione answered, keeping eye contact with him despite swaying a little.
The salesman sighed. “Okay, look. I actually did end up delivering their tree. Just… just promise you won’t make a big scene.”
And with that, she and Ginny found themselves in front of 801 West Morris Avenue. The house was completely dark except for the lights glittering on the Perfect Tree, illuminated behind the large picture window.
“Come on,” hissed Ginny, dragging the tree the salesman had gifted them behind her toward the back of the house.
Hermione bit her lip. “Maybe this isn’t such a good idea.”
Ginny shrugged. “Too late now. Alohomora,” she said, pointing her wand at the door knob. They heard a faint click and Ginny turned the handle on the back door before walking in. Hermione hesitated for a moment before following.
They crept through the darkened kitchen, pausing to look at the fridge. A photo of four miserable looking people was stuck to it with a magnet amongst various school papers and a chore chart.
“Merlin, Ron wasn’t lying. Umbridge’s less evil twin,” said Ginny. Hermione snickered and prodded her friend along.
They made their way to the front room where Ginny unceremoniously dumped the tree on the ground. “Okay, now we have to take this stuff off,” said Ginny.
“There’s a spell,” Hermione said, taking out her own wand. With just a little wandwork, the two had undecked the Perfect Tree, put up the replacement, and redecorated in a matter of minutes.
“This tree really doesn’t look that bad,” said Hermione, admiring their work.
“Toadface should have taken it to begin with,” said Ginny. “Let’s clean up all these needles and get out of here.”
Hermione shook her head. “Leave them. The daughter is the one that has to do the vacuuming and she tried to hit on Ron.”
“I love when you’re petty,” Ginny smiled.
++++++
“And that’s what happened,” Hermione finished.
Ron stared at her silently.
“Say something,” she pleaded.
“You are going to root for the Harpies!”
“That’s what you care about?” Hermione said. “You’re not mad I didn’t keep the tree you made?”
“Hell no. That was our fucking tree and I’m thrilled you got it back. But you let Ginny move my ornaments!”
“We can move them right back,” Hermione said. “And I’m only rooting for the Harpies on the outside.”
“The outside is what matters!”
“Not to you,” Hermione said.
“It sure does,” he insisted.
“Why don’t you open a present now?” Hermione said.
“Huh?” he asked, anger disappearing at the surprise change of tactics.
“That flat one with the candy cane paper,” Hermione said, pointing under the tree.
Ron looked at her suspiciously as he tugged at the ribbon. Hermione shifted nervously as he let the paper fall to the floor and opened the lid of the box.
“Is this - this isn’t for me, right?” Ron asked, staring at the scraps of bright orange fabric in the box.
Hermione rolled her eyes. “It’s for me to wear and for you to enjoy. So even if I am cheering for Ginny on the outside, you’ll know that deep down…”
Ron grinned. “Well, at least if Ginny messing with the ornaments makes the Cannons lose, I’ll still win.”

A Stolen Bag and a Confession
Written for @constitutionalweasleymonarchy ( RonsGirlFriday on AO3) as a gift for the HP Romione Discord 2023 Secret Santa Gift Exchange. I hope you have a great end of the year and an even better year to come. ❤️
Also, I wanted to thank @adenei again, with helping beta this fic for me ❤️
Summary: Crookshanks causes mischief by stealing Hermione’s beaded bag. Will Ron and Hermione manage to retrieve the bag before Bill and Fleur’s wedding ceremony begins?
Feel free to read Part 1 of 6, down below OR over on A03 (while you’re over there check out the brilliant fics of both of these wonderful people)
The Burrow was chaotic, which wasn’t anything new, except today was his oldest brother’s Bill’s wedding. All week his mum had been pestering everyone to help prepare for this special day, which if Ron was honest he just didn’t understand the huge deal with wedding preparations. Not just that, but what was the point of inviting the entire family?
He’d thought that his brother’s wedding would only consist of close friends and family, and a nice spread of mum’s delicious homemade food. Yet, Ron realized that would be too good to be true. Knowing his mum, she would have invited the whole town if it meant they’d witness her precious Bill getting married.
The Weasley-Prewett clan was fairly large, and Ron wondered if the tent that he had helped set up would be able to contain all the guests. Plus, the Delacours and Har- “Barny” and Hermione. Bloody hell, how could he forget she was here? It wasn’t that he forgot she was staying over, they had stayed up well past midnight down by the tent.
Ron had woken up and went down for a bit of tea, what he didn’t expect was to see Hermione in the kitchen. She looked beautiful, the light from the gap of the open window had casted a magical glow around the bushy-haired witch and for a moment Ron felt as if he had been stunned. It wasn’t until Hermione had walked up to him and placed a warm mug into his hands that he managed to be pulled from his reverie.
He quietly thanked her, and took a sip of tea, the warm liquid sent warmth throughout his body. He indulged in the richness of the flavor for a bit, before he noticed her deep brown eyes filled with confusion and a hint of sadness. He didn’t have to ask why she was up so late, because he knew the answer, she was worried for her parents. The guilt of removing their memories of her and sending them to Australia was gnawing at her mind and heart. If only she knew how smart she was for doing whatever it takes to ensure the safety of her parents.
Ron knew he wanted to do whatever it took to see her smile again, which was why he bravely took her soft hand in his freckled one. He willed himself not to marvel at the electricity that he felt the moment their hands touched, as it flowed through his entire body.
Ron had believed at that moment he would be able to conjure his Patronus without a worry. His ears were burning, and without needing a mirror, Ron knew that his face was red. Yet, that didn’t stop him from walking Hermione outside and into the cool air. The millions of stars above them had created a soothing feeling of tranquility, which was ironic considering all of the atrocities that were happening in the wizarding world.
Ron wanted to permanently engrave that moment with Hermione underneath the stars, not only into his head but also into his heart. Just in case he needed a fond memory to comfort him when they were on the run, who knew how long it would take until all the Hocruxes were destroyed. It could take weeks, months… hopefully it wouldn’t take them years. Maybe, if they were lucky-
“Ron, hurry up! The guests are almost here and I need you to help them get seated!” his mum’s voice had pulled him away from his thoughts.
“I’ll be right there, I was just finishing up tidying up my room… you know for the guests to mingle in before the ceremony begins.” Ron had muttered the last few words quietly before finishing dusting off his collection of Quidditch figures, and possibly kicking a certain Bulgarian figure underneath his bed.
“Time to get the show on the road,” Ron mumbled to himself. He walked to his bedroom mirror and fixed his tie before heading out of his room. As he went down the creaky old steps, he took them two at a time. It was crazy how he didn’t notice how the steps had become even more squeaky in the middle. The saying must be true, “you don’t know what you have until it’s gone”, Ron shook his head.
Before he made it halfway down, his mum stopped him. Her brown eyes were welling in tears as she gave him a once over.
“Oh, my baby… you’ve grown so much.” She cried and pulled him into a hug, “I can’t believe how tall you’ve gotten, and now you’re all dressed up for your brother’s wedding. It feels like it was yesterday that you were napping and playing with your little toy broom all around the house.”
“Mum.” Ron groaned irritably, his face turning a bit pink. He hoped nobody was around to hear his mum reminisce on his babyhood. Especially not Fred and George-
“Seems as Ronniekins still plays with his broom.” Fred teased from behind.
Fucking Hell.
“Shut it, Fred!” Ron yelled as he removed himself from his mum’s embrace. He hated how his brother could always rile him up.
“Oh, Freddie, you shouldn’t tease Ronniekins. Can’t you see he’s all dressed up and wanting to impress a certain bookworm, but I believe I forgot her name. Can you tell me who this lucky girl’s name is Ronniekins?” George teased.
“Boys, please-” Ron heard his mother say beside him on the stairs.
“Oh, I know her name,” Fred answered before Ron could risk telling them to sod off in front of their mum.
“I believe her name is Hermione,” Fred added in an overly posh manner. “Not sure if you remember when Ronniekins sent mum his first owl and he wrote only about a girl that frustrated him during class.”
“Ah, yes… as a matter of fact, I do remember,” His brother replied with a light chuckle, which caused Ron to clench his jaw and keep quiet.
“That’s enough boys, leave your brother alone. I don’t want to hear another word from either of you at this moment. Now run along and go find your father and help him with whatever he needs,” their mum ordered as she pointed for the twins to go outside.
“Alright, alright,” they replied in unison as they walked away, their hands in mock surrender.
Bloody gits, Ron thought to himself, couldn’t they leave him alone just for once?
“Just ignore them,” his mum said, as she straightened the collar of his dress shirt.Giving him a gentle pat, he noticed her trying to hold back tears. “I can’t believe how handsome you’ve become” she said as she smiled up at him, not before something caught her attention, “Isn’t that right, Hermione?”

Break Free From Stagnation
Dear High Performer,
Start your week powerfully with this week’s edition of Sunday Soar -
What I’m grateful for, the lesson I learned last week, and what I’m looking forward to this week.
Please forward this along to your friends.
What I’m grateful for
To crush our goals and become the best version of ourselves, we need to tap into the superpower of our minds.
We are more capable than we think.
Or better put, we are more capable if we think we are.
‘Remember the duller the ax, the harder the work;
Use your head: the more brains, the less muscle.” – King Solomon
It’s not about muscle, it’s about the mind.
Better yet, the muscle we need to flex first is our mind muscle,
As we do that every other muscle in our body and the environment will follow.

Lesson I learned last week
“How happy and satisfied am I with my life right now?
If you ask this question at the end of a thoroughly great day, the answer is very often positive.
After a horrible day (or a string of them), you’re more likely to say that life sucks.
The key to a great life is simply having a bunch of great days.
Think about it one day at a time." - Pete Adeney
How do you know you are making progress on your journey towards becoming all that God has created you to be?
It’s by how well you manage your F.R.A.M.E.
Where F.R.A.M.E stands for Fear, Responsibility, Ambition, Mood, and Experiment.
