The absolute worst thing about parenting with ADHD is when you just… CANNOT follow your hyper fixation, because you have to care for the kid. No one seems to talk about the amount of rage that engenders.

hey heres my advice to anyone who has adhd and is ever planning on having kids, as a person who was raised by a dad with adhd: i get that you hyperfocus, and you get really into your interests and nothing that doesnt interest you can hold your attention, but you know what sucks? being a kid, desperately trying to get their fathers attention only to have him check out after a minute listening to you describe the plot to the book youre reading, or having him interrupt you while you explain to him a project your doing to show you something that interests him instead or trying to have a normal conversation while his attention drifts off to something else, or desperately trying to learn everything you can about a thing you know hes interested in so he pays attention to you for just a little while only for his hyperfocus to shift away from that thing and have him bored instead.

like, i get it, i have autism, all of my siblings have adhd or autism, my mom has autism. sometimes people with adhd cant focus, its a whole thing. but if youre planning on having a kid and you dont plan on doing anything to make sure your behaviors dont fuck up your kid, either just dont have kids and spare them the pain, or get ready for them to feel like shit, like they will never be a priority in your life and never be good enough or interesting enough to interact with you.

I need a favor from my followers and friends! I need y’all to wear red tomorrow for Coit! Tomorrow is World Autism Day! I don’t like wearing blue because it associates with Autism Speaks.

I know the ones that hear me talk about Coit know how far he has come and how smart he is. Yes his IQ tells us that he is gifted but I know that what he will accomplish will be nothing short of great! He is so much more than his diagnosis!

His love, happiness, compassion, and smile are all envy worthy! I pray he never loses his love for all things space, weather, and hot wheels.

Sooo sick of meeting autistic and adhd people who were diagnosed at a young age but know absolutely nothing about their own condition because their parents and doctors decided that instead of teaching them the different ways their brains work, they would just shame and correct them for the behavior and slap the diagnosis label on as the name for what needs to be Corrected. I met a whole college adult recently who said that he thought he was having dementia because he would forget things randomly all the time. He was diagnosed with adhd as a child. I had to be the one to tell him that's literally one of the most common symptoms. From the rest of the conversation I'm pretty sure he was told nothing about what he might experience mentally, only why he was too hard for other people to handle. It's so gross to me and I'm just collecting beef with a bunch of random people's parents. As a demographic we have been so neglected and it kills me.

(really, i'm VERY shocked. after my psychologist talk with her in december, she is another woman. SO GUYS, DO THERAPY she just make ONE session and have improvements)
