Mid month writing update

Hi everyone

Here we are in the middle of January and boy have these first fifteen days of 2023 flown by. I continued writing the Prologue of Heavy is the Crown which is definitely going to be longer than Adoriel's Tears. This one will indeed be composed of two parts, one focused on Merlin and the events preceding the opening of the gates of Albion, while the second part of the prologue will be more focused on Mc and the first years of their life, their family and the lore of the family. The passage I've written so far was a face to face between Merlin and Uther on the night of Igraine's (and Anna's) arrival in Camelot. Lots of tension!! and there is a dragon too!!!

Anyway, I'm now going to put this to rest and for the next two weeks concentrate on Adoriel's Tears. Especially on the rewrite of chapter 1 (it's not really a rewrite by the way, but I want to change some elements...)

Saying that familiars coud be a type of slavery is quite stupid.Anon,would you say the same thing for the familiars that appear in the @adoriel'stears demo? It is even explained (and you can clearly see from the numerous amount of questions for Emery) that the bond we share with them will be very special.

I'll assume they're new to the account and haven't read/seen the Emery questions yet.

I sort of understand about the last anon's uneasiness, because Emery is a child after all. Anything related with children in any form of media can be concerning if said child is put in a situation that can be seen as problematic to them.

But I will say it again, Emery or any other Familiars that will be included in my story are not slaves.

I decided to write something other than the game tonight.

Eyes closed, eyebrows furrowed, Ashlyen focuses, straining his ear to hear the rustle of life beneath Elianna's skin. 

It's here. Sheltered from the world, where both their futures grow. Fragile and yet so strong. he thinks, his throat knotting at the sound of a third heartbeat. 

"Ash..."

Elianna's voice sounded distant to him, muffled by the swirl of emotion spinning in his mind. "Control yourself, Ash. Don't let them sniff you out, don't let them know."

He didn't particularly want the hive to interrupt their moment due to a failure on his part. His heart may be tender, but his mind must be steel. Nothing must get through. No cracks to be spotted. At the risk of losing everything. 

"Ash...please."

Elianna calls to him again, and this time he perceives the high-pitched fear that grips the timbre of her voice. 

"Just five more minutes, please," he asks plaintively. 

Their moments have been few and far between since their return near the Tower. 

"What are you doing, taking a nap? We don't have five minutes!"

A sigh escapes the elf's lips only to be replaced by a smile. Somewhat reluctantly, he lets go of the young human's belly, inwardly lamenting the longing it causes him. Wiping his knees, he leaves his crouched position to take a seat on the bench next to Elianna and grasp her hands. 

"Elia, we're going to have a baby." he rests his forehead against hers, brushing her cheek with his nose. "Let us celebrate for a little while."

"But..."

"I love you."

Two days is a short time, but there are already things that jump out at you about Arthur. Like…the way he turned red when you asked him to show you his herbarium as you approached him.

You swear you felt the heat in his cheeks. It made you feel smug. It made you feel good. And the way your heart reacted was pleasant.

You don't really know what this feeling is, but you want to experience it again and see how scarlet the boy can turn.

"He's cute," you say to Cecily. "His cheeks get all red when I talk to him."

Cecily's eyebrows shoot up. The sparkle in her eyes intensifies and a smirk takes over her whole face. "Ohhh" she croons. "Why do I get the feeling you like that?"

"I do."

She pats your arm mischievously. "You cheeky little thing. So here it begins." She tuts with a smile.

I greatly underestimated the difficulty of resuming coding on twine after such a long break.

But at least I write a little :

"So, have you made up your mind about Arthur?" Cecily questioned as she absentmindedly chewed on a cookie, her eyes twinkling.

It only took a second for her to give up the idea of speaking through the mouth of your oldest friend. You smile.

"Can you really make up your mind about someone in just two days?"

She nods. "Some people can. Your mum and dad, for example. Love at first sight, even if your mother would rather die of embarrassment than admit it."

You can't explain why, but something about Cecily's words makes your cheeks flush—love at first sight. You're still weighing up your aunt's words before your answer passes your lips of its own accord. "Yes, Arthur is a good…friend?"

Huh?

Why did you hesitate over that last word? Isn't that what Arthur is? Your friend?

You frown, trying to untangle your slightly confused thoughts. He's kind, gentle, funny. He reminds you of Tobias and yet, yet there's something else. The word friend seems inadequate as the mere thought of the boy threatens the beating of your heart, causing it to race off to gallop and soar in your stomach like a flock of birds. Your skin is shivering, but the cold has nothing to do with it, it's warmer and more pleasant.

Your eyes widen. Oh! Oh! Is this it? Like in the books?

You turn your gaze to Cecily.

"Oh!" she says softly.

Oh, indeed.

I was only supposed to fix the bugs, but I pushed a bit more and finally managed to port a bit more content to Twine, including the one allowing you to have the first choices of Romances with Arthur.
