Nino: Adrien asked us to help him write a card for his dad's birthday and it is not going well.
***
Alya: How about "Best of luck for the next forty years"?
Marinette: He's forty, Alya.
Alya: Yes, the average life expectancy is eighty.
Marinette: No you can't write that.
-
Adrien: "Thank you for being a good father"?
Nino: Hmm we shouldn't lie...
Adrien: True...
Kagami: "Your parenting has been within acceptable parameters".
Nino: Has it though?
-
Alya: "Many happy returns for many years that I'm sure you will have"?
Adrien: That still sounds oddly threatening.
-
Nino: "I hope you have a happy day and… many subsequent years"...
Adrien: Please, stop making it sound like he's dying.

Adrien + Nino, "Board Game Night"
Tumblr media
The response for this prompt comes to us from @deinde-prandium!
---
Okay I see this one as like a Nino POV comedy of errors wherein Nino has been attempting to plan the ultimate bros night (think Party Crasher, but on a significantly smaller scale because it’s literally just him and Adrien, but we won’t give Nino too much grief about the semantics). He feels the need to call it “Board Game Night” rather than Game Night because he’s trying to expand his best bro’s horizons beyond Ultimate Mecha Strike V (also because he’s the one hosting, and Chris is less likely to bother them if they let him use the TV).
The only problem is that every time they make plans to hang out for a game night, there’s some kind of freak interruption that results in Adrien backing out or leaving partway through…cue some Detective Nino work, and he (not surprisingly) comes to some insane conclusion about Adrien (the details of which I’ll work out later if I ever come back to this, but imagine something really off the wall, like he’s having an affair with Ladybug or something).
Anyway, he eventually confronts Adrien about it, and ultimately Adrien comes clean and reveals that he is Chat Noir. And Nino is incredibly shocked by this, but is also touched by the very palpable relief he can see on Adrien’s face in light of this confession. Accordingly, he responds the only way he knows how:
“Dude.”
“Yeah.”
[silence]
“So, uh…you wanna play some Sushi Go?”
The smile on Adrien’s face is like, the best thing ever.
“Yeah. Let’s play.”

My first Adrino drawingヽ(*>∇<)ノ ✨️!!
Sjjdjdjdj This is kinda old, but oh well. I'm still trying to figure out what I headcanon Nino's hair to be. Not going to lie, I'm leaning on curls ( ̄▽ ̄;). Sjsjsj I can't help it!!! I've been starrry eyed ( ☆∀☆) on curly haired men ┐(´∀`;)┌.
Anyways!!! (¬∀¬;;) Here is Nino making sure his boy is fed with more food (this was becoming a habit everyday if Adrien was able to stay in school for lunch and when Chloe isn't there to help getting more food for him); and, Adrien is once again touched and happy on how much his best friend cares about him.
(If I think too much about this.... I'm going to cry ヽ(;▽;)ノ hahahaha)
Even though it's a couple months old, I hope you all, at least, liked them!! They're adorableヽ(*´∀`)ノ. Until next time everyone!!

Ch.2 Let Me Show You My Play
There was a knock at the door.
Adrien specifically told them that he wasn't taking visitors but still there was a knock.
Which could only mean one person.
"Hey dude." Nino stepped tentatively into the room. Eyes widening slightly at the opened bottle on Adrien's desk and the untouched glass in his hands.
The déjà vu hit Adrien so strongly that in that moment he wasn't there but several months past. When Nino last barged in to the sight of Adrien nursing a different glass of wine...
"Bribed him with another action figure then?" Adrien asked.
"Nah, man." Nino gently took the alcohol from Adrien's hands and set it on his desk. "Y'know why he let me in."
Adrien scoffed, wiping at his nose. "Yeah, I'm sure."
Nino noticed that Adrien avoided looking him in the eye. "...Why didn't I know? Why'd you keep... this from me?"
Adrien's mask cracked and his hands started to tremble.
"Hey! Hey, hey, hey!" Nino reached for them with his own.
Adrien's arms were around Nino's waist and tears dripping onto his chest. Nino's arms wrapping around his big shoulders as he let Adrien cry.
------------------------
Emma is angry.
Angry at Maman for hurting Papa. Angry at Hugo for taking her side. Angry at her Grandparents for not choosing one.
But at that moment she was mostly angry at the swarm of vultures -no, that was mean to carrion fowl- swarm of reporters that made it impossible to attend school. Sure school sucked but she could see her friends there. And the fencing team was decent.
Anyways, it was her school and she didn't appreciate the thought of her classmates getting cornered by adults who should know better.
"C'mon, Emma! Help me finish this level?" Louis asked with big eyes even though he was too old for them to be (very) effective anymore. Out of the three of them Louis was the only one who inherited their Papa's wavy golden hair and light eyes.
Emma glanced at the controller before going back to staring out the window. "I'm not really in the mood for video games right now. Why don't you ask Hugo?"
Louis scoffed. "He's even worse than you."
Before Emma could ask what that was supposed to mean Louis was already gone. If they were home Louis would've asked Papa or Gregor to play with him while complaining about his siblings being no fun. Or roped one of the maid's into it.
"Louis have you seen- oh." Hugo paused awkwardly at the threshold.
"He's downstairs," Emma pointed.
Hugo frowned. "Going to bug Grandpa while they're working?"
Emma doubted it. "He wouldn't have to if you played with him."
"Or you," Hugo shot back.
"Mm," Emma made a noncommittal grunt.
"...We wouldn't even be in this mess if Papa hadn't said anything," Hugo said, picking up where they left off.
"So he should have just done nothing?" Emma snapped. "Is that it? Just pretend everything was okay!"
"Everything was okay! But now all of a sudden I can't see Grandma Emily? Aunt Kagami isn't coming to your fencing tournament? And Louis, y'know what they call him at school!?"
"Don't!"
"Monarch's Grandson!"
There was a clattering sound followed by a pair of feet stomping up the stairs.
"Louis!" Emma called.
The trapdoor to the upper level slammed shut.
Hugo looked stricken. Like he wanted the ground to open up and swallow him whole.
Emma resisted the urge to twist the knife as she rushed past him and up the stairs. Finding Louis curled up on the balcony.
"Hey." Emma resisted the urge to hug him, remembering that he didn't like it. "You know Hugo's just worried about you. He didn't mean to."
"No one ever means to." Louis sniffed, wiping his eyes. "They just do."
She had the distinct impression that Louis wasn't just talking about Hugo. "Ok... fair," Emma sighed as she sat next to him against the brick wall.
Before she could think of anything else to say Hugo came up too.
Louis turned away from his brother as Hugo sat across from them.
"I'm... sorry, Louis." Hugo said as he offered back Louis' controller. No worse for wear despite the drop.
Glancing in it's direction Louis swiped it and gave Hugo a brief nod.
Hugo rubbed the back of his head awkwardly. "... I can still help you with that level if you want?"
"I can do it myself."
Emma sighed again as Hugo gave her a pleading look. "We'll both help," she bumped shoulders with Louis. "C'mon, it's been a while since the three of us played."
Louis pressed his lips together as he resisted smiling. "Well..."
"I'll even show you that trick I learned," Hugo added.
"...Okay," Louis rose to his feet. "I know how stairs work, Maman," he said in reply to Hugo's outstretched hand.
Who stuck his tongue out at the words.
Louis chuckled as he went back downstairs.
"...I still say we should tell Papa. Or Maman."
"No no. Remember how they acted the last time something like this happened?"
"They made it go away?"
"They were embarrassing! And not the regular kind of embarrassing. The 'buys an entire company to prove a point' kind of embarrassing."
"Good! They deserve it."
"Yeah, but Louis doesn't."
"... This is such billionaire problems."
"Bullshit."
"Shhhh! Not in Grandma and Grandpa's house!"
Their talk turned to character selection and teamwork as they caught up with Louis. Who was not as ignorant of his older siblings discussion as they liked to believe.
Louis knew this stalemate was for his sake. He wasn't stupid. But he also knew that Emma and Hugo could go back to arguing just like that.
If this was the only way they'd actually spend time together he wasn't about to argue.
---------------------
Nino stared at Adrien with dawning horror. "...No. Hell no!"
"Nino..."
He snatched the untouched glass from Adrien's desk and downed it like a shot. Then started pouring another.
"Nino," Adrien repeated, standing. Laying his calloused hands over Nino's trembling arms.
"What- What the fuck, dude." Nino set down the bottle and glass as he turned to face Adrien. "I thought- You don't deserve this. You don't deserve any of this! God damnit!"
Despite being slightly taller Adrien let Nino pull him back to his chest. Breathing in his cheap cologne and listening to his ragged breathing. He didn't want to let go.
"I'm sorry. I'm so sorry..."
"It's not your fault."
Nino just hugged Adrien tighter. God he was lame. Here he was supposed to be comforting Adrien about his impending divorce yet it was all Nino could do not to breakdown with him.
Adrien merely returned his embrace.
The memory faded as, just like before, Nino held on tight. And Adrien, just like before, felt safe in his embrace.
---------------------
It was almost ten when Papa went to pick them up. Grandma calling them down from Maman's old room.
Louis practically sprinted into Papa's arms with Emma close behind. His eyes looked red.
"Hugo?" Papa gave him a tentative smile.
"... Excuse me." Hugo went upstairs and locked himself in the bathroom. His face felt hot. Water. Hugo opened the tap and splashed water on his face.
Breathe.
In, one two three...
Out, one two three...
Hugo wiped at his face before heading back to the living room.
"-you've been like a son to us," Grandpa was saying.
He froze on the stairs.
"And you've been a good husband to Marinette," Grandma added.
There was a gasp like a sob from Papa. "Even- Even with all of this?"
"It wasn't my parents divorce that kept Rolland out of my life. It was his own stubbornness."
"And my side of the family is so far away I hardly see them. We don't want that for you two. Or our grandkids."
"I... I don't know what to say," Papa sniffed. "Thank you, Tom. Sabine."
"Please, son. We've told you."
"Call us Papa and Maman."
"O-of course... Maman... Papa..."
Hugo fidgeted with the charm bracelet at his wrist before stomping loudly.
"There you are son!" Grandpa boomed, raising his arms for a hug.
Bracing himself, Hugo returned the bear hug the best he could. Grandpa setting him down with hardly anything broken this time.
Grandma walked up and gave him a softer hug. "Take care of yourself, Hugo."
Hugo sniffed. "Okay... Love you."
"We love you too."
"C'mon," Papa offered his hand. "Emma and Louis are already in the car. Let's go home."
Grabbing his bag Hugo walked past him.
Papa let his hand fall. "...Thanks again for watching them."
"Of course, son."
"We're always happy to have them over."
Hugo's brow furrowed as he spotted the limo. "It's not home without Maman," he muttered.

Nino Does the Math
Tumblr media
Summary: Nino does his best to account for all the miraculous in the wake of [season 5 finale events]. He comes to a startling conclusion about his best friend. (Contains spoilers for Season 5 of Miraculous Ladybug, up to the finale Re-creation.)
Word Count: 2k Rating: G
Nino was the first person to figure it out.
Of course not everyone was going to be able to keep their identities secret. Friends trusted each other, and partners had a hard time keeping secrets from each other. There was a reason he and Alya had known about each other for as long as they had. That, and Nino liked to be aware of all the players on the field.
As far as Nino could piece together, Juleka and Rose had told each other right away. Mylène and Ivan had told each other fairly quickly as well, though Nino thought that was more by accident than intention. He assumed Marc and Nathaniel had told each other at some point, but he couldn’t say when or how. And of course everything had only unraveled from there.
No one had explicitly told Nino who they were. But he figured that once Rose and Juleka knew about each other, Mylène, Alix, and Alya had been looped in shortly after, because that first week after Hawk Moth's defeat, he may have glimpsed a group text on Rose's phone with emojis identifying everyone’s superhero identities. At least, he guessed what the fox next to Alya’s name meant, and he could extrapolate the pig, tiger, mouse, and bunny icons from there.
Nino wasn’t great with secrets, but he’d never be so brazen as to put emojis next to people’s names. Alya being nicknamed “rusée sexy” in his phone was entirely unrelated to her heroic identity.
He’d found out about Ivan and Luka after a practice with Kitty Section. Adrien stayed late after practice more often than not these days, and so they spent more time sitting on the deck of the houseboat just hanging out. Rose and Juleka had left the guys to have some of their own time when Ivan had said, “Oh, Mylène just texted about an akuma attack at the park. I’d better go.”
Luka had quirked an eyebrow. “To… help her, right? Make sure she’s not hurt.”
Because the park was not near the Seine. They were probably safe where they were.
But Ivan said, “Yeah, and if the akuma did hurt her, they’re going to regret it. They can just try to get through me and my invincible shield.”
So Ivan was Minataurox. And that might have been all Nino had learned that day, even as all four of them stood and scattered off of the deck of the ship if he had not heard Luka mutter from below deck, “I swear, Sass, we need to be on all the time if we’re going to keep them from telling everyone everything.”
So Luka was Viperion.
Then Kim had told Max and Nino one day while they were studying in the library. Nino didn’t think Kim had meant to tell them. Kim had just said, “I’m so tired of math. I wish there would be an akuma attack so I could get out of here.” And it would have been easy to write it off as school being canceled to protect students from the akuma if Kim hadn’t added, “Fighting bad guys is way more fun than doing math.”
Max had, unhelpfully put in, “Based on the frequency of akuma attacks since Hawk Moth’s defeat, there’s only a 17% chance of an akuma attack before lunch. But there’s a 78% chance of an attack after school, which I do always appreciate.” And that comment, too, could have been written off like Max was grateful their school days were not interrupted so often, if he hadn’t added, “It gets to be so challenging balancing school work and fights with akumas.”
Nino had said nothing. Well, he’d meant to say nothing. Instead, he’d said, “At least we get to spend more time with our friends.”
It wasn’t a confession. And, in his defense, he wasn’t entirely sure who Max and Kim were when they put on their masks. He just knew they were some of Paris’s heroes.
Then, that same day, as he’d passed the art room in search of Alya and Marinette, he’d been surprised to see Sabrina hanging around Marc and Nathaniel. After her fall out with Chloé, she had some trouble finding a new friend to follow around. But as Nino stood in the doorway of the art room and thought about it, Marc and Nathaniel, who were artists before they were producers, probably appreciated having Sabrina to manage the menial tasks of producing a comic, and Sabrina was someone who liked to feel useful.
“I just don’t know how useful I am,” Sabrina was saying, “certainly not compared to you two, who can do just about anything you want.”
“I can’t make magic happen,” Nathaniel shrugged. “I just draw.”
“And I just have to use my imagination,” Marc added.
And it could have been about anything. It didn’t have to be about miraculous powers. But then Nathaniel had said, “You mean use your imagination to have any power in the world you could possibly want.”
And Marc had said, “And you mean draw anything into existence—Hey, Sabrina, don’t feel down about yourself. Isn’t your power the one that was used to steal all the Miraculous from Ladybug? She probably really trusts you if she’s given you something like that.”
Nino ran the numbers. Math wasn’t his favorite thing, but he had a knack for investigation. Though he wasn’t 100% sure about Pegasus and King Monkey, he could make a guess based on what he knew about Max and Kim. And of course Argos was Félix; everyone knew that. That left Vesperia and Ryuko, and of course Chat Noir and Ladybug. That also left Chloé, Lila, Marinette, and Adrien as the only students left in Mme Bustier’s class without miraculous.
Chloé had had her chance and ruined it. Lila was never going to get one of those chances, and Nino was grateful for that. And he only knew Marinette had gotten a chance because on patrol one night, he had overheard Chat Noir say to Ladybug, “Hey, are you not planning to give Marinette the Mouse again?”
And Ladybug had stammered something like, “Of course—I mean, why wouldn’t I—You’re the only one who knows, I suppose—so…”
Not that Nino had seen Multimouse in any fights since that conversation, but Marinette was busy and scatterbrained, so maybe she always found out about the akuma attacks too late to help.
Every student—every student who mattered—in Mme Bustier’s class was a hero. Every single one except Adrien.
Nino felt like he should say something, but he wasn't sure how to bring it up.
They often studied at Nino’s place. Adrien had more space and more games, but Adrien insisted on going to Nino’s. Nino didn’t blame him. Adrien had spent a year cooped up in his giant mansion; it was no wonder he wanted out as often as possible.
And one day, as silence stretched out between him and Adrien, Nino thought there might never be a better time to bring it up. He still hesitated, unsure where to start, unsure how it might make Adrien feel. Maybe it was best that it stay a secret.
“Hey, man…” And maybe there was something in the tone of Nino’s voice, or something on his face, but Adrien actually set aside his book and looked up from Nino’s desk.
“What is it?” Adrien asked.
Nino’s leg bounced against his mattress and he tapped his pen against his reading assignment. “Nothing… never mind…”
Adrien hesitated, but when Nino said nothing more, he opened his textbook up again.
After another minute, Nino couldn’t help himself. “Hey—remember when I told you I was Carapace?”
Adrien didn’t look up from his book this time, but the corner of his mouth seemed to tighten. “And that Alya was Rena Rouge? And Alya knows who Ladybug is?”
Nino winced. “Yeah…”
“What about it?”
“Er—Nothing…” Nino wasn’t sure how to parse Adrien’s tone. He sounded a little bitter or even annoyed. Was it possible Adrien already knew he was the only student who hadn’t been given a miraculous?
Adrien turned the page in his book, but it was slow and careful, more like he was trying to appear engaged with his homework than actually doing it. “Is this the thing Ladybug’s been trying to tell me about all month?”
“What?” Nino asked.
“Ladybug. She keeps finding me and starts to say something, but changes her mind.”
“Oh…” Nino frowned. He wondered if there was a miraculous he hadn’t accounted for. Maybe Ladybug had more than he was aware of. “Maybe.”
Adrien looked up from his book and quirked an eyebrow.
“I mean,” Nino searched for the right words. “Do you… want to be a super hero?”
The hard look on Adrien’s face gave way to a grin. “What, do you think I’m jealous of Carapace?”
Nino shrugged. “There’s a lot of new heroes out. I thought maybe… you might want to be one of them. I mean, you’re not, right? You’d tell me if you were.”
“Yeah, of course,” Adrien said, and buried his face in his homework once more.
There was another stretch of silence between them. Adrien didn’t turn a page in his book once. Nino watched him carefully.
“Do you think that’s what Ladybug wants to talk to you about? She’s trying to give you a miraculous?”
“Maybe.” Adrien’s fingers tapped against the cover of his book. “It didn’t go so well for her the last two times she’s tried to give me a miraculous, though. Maybe that’s why she’s nervous about it.”
“Two times?”
“Oh… She tried to give me the snake miraculous once.”
“And you never told me? Dude!”
Adrien laughed, but it was high-pitched, nervous. “I didn’t really think you’d want to hear about 25,000 times I failed Ladybug.”
“Oh, man, I’m sorry.” Nino got to his feet and kicked aside a pair of jeans so he’d have a clear path to Adrien. He leaned against his desk. “Do you want to talk about it?”
Adrien shook his head. “It’s fine, Nino.”
“It’s not fine! Everyone in our class has a miraculous except you, and that’s not fine. I’ll say something about it to Ladybug.”
And this time, when Adrien laughed, it sounded genuine. It was one of those rare Adrien laughs, raw and unpracticed. There was always a small pause before it forced its way out of his chest, loud and unfettered, and it made Nino’s heart sing every time.
“You don’t have to do that,” Adrien said.
“Are you sure?” Nino asked. “I bet Rena would back me up.”
“I’m sure.” And Adrien’s smile looked real. It was one of his soft ones, that crinkled the corners of his eyes only slightly. His practiced modeling smile was ironically more visible in the shape of his eyes, the perfected picture of happiness. But his real smiles were a little sad, and sometimes Nino wondered if they would always be that way.
“Nino?” Adrien lifted his eyebrows, but the small smile didn’t budge. “You’re staring. Do I have something—”
“No—No—” Nino ran his hand over his face and looked around his messy room. He didn’t know how to say, “Do you think you’ll ever get over your mom and dad being dead long enough to actually be happy?” He didn’t think there was any way to say that. So instead he asked, “Do you want to get out of here? Hunt down some ice cream or a movie?”
Adrien hesitated. He counted up the pages left in tonight’s reading. “You don’t have patrol with Ladybug tonight?”
“If Ladybug refuses to give you a miraculous, she’ll just have to accept that Carapace has to split his time between her and his best friend.”
Adrien hid another smile behind his hand, but Nino saw it wrinkle the corners of his eyes rather playfully, even as Adrien looked back down at his book.
“Yeah, okay, ice cream sounds great.”
Nino grabbed his wallet and scrounged through his laundry for his cap. He had just had it when he and Adrien got home, so what had he done with it?
Adrien put his books into his bag slowly and carefully, like he was stalling while Nino’s search transitioned to a frenzy. As Nino finally found the red cap peeking out from beneath his bed sheets—how had it gotten so thoroughly buried while he was doing his homework—Adrien cleared his throat.
“Um—Nino?”
“Yeah, man?” Nino adjusted his cap and double-checked his reflection in the mirror.
“It… means a lot that you said something.”
“Oh, for sure, man, any time.” Nino lifted his fist to Adrien and, with a smile that wasn’t quite sad or bitter, but was something else, something Nino couldn’t quite name, Adrien knocked his fist against Nino’s.
“But I am going to say something to Ladybug,” Nino said as he opened the door for Adrien. “Really, I am.”
“Please don’t,” Adrien laughed.
“I will. How can she put you into the same category as Lila and Chloé? It’s just rude is what it is.” Nino closed the door behind them, but he didn’t stop his tirade. He meant it. His best friend deserved to be a hero like the rest of them, perhaps more than the rest of them. And, even more important than that, the more Nino talked, the happier Adrien’s smile seemed to be.

"It wasn't love I felt," Blue Wing whispered hoarsely, and he looked up at Hawk Moth. There had always been something within his father reaching for him, something that was nothing like the Emotions that came from Nino– because they were not the same. "It... it never was. You... you didn't love me. Why?"

Nino: You’re 15…
Adrien: 'What do you want?'… I don't know. My father’s love and approval? Free time to myself?
Nino: I just want more headphones. Definitely more headphones.

Nino hangs out with Adrien on a totally platonic outing... Or is it?
----------
"Whooooaaa!"
Nino chuckled as Adrien turned in a circle to take in all the different tanks. "Can't believe you've never been to an aquarium, dude."
"Wasn't really part of my education," Adrien mumbled, eyes shining. He walked up to a school of fish which decided at that moment to turn deeper into the tank.
Chuckling at his pout, Nino wrapped an arm around Adrien's shoulders. Not noticing the slight blush at the contact. "C'mon, I wanna show you my favorite exhibit!"
Adrien leaned as close to the glass as he could without touching it. "That's a lot of turtles."
The turtle tank was the largest exhibit in the place. A plaque in front of it stating the turtles where there for conservation and study.
Nino beamed, straightening his shoulders a bit. "Well, y'know, once Carapace showed up everyone realized how cool the little dudes are."
"Oh?" Adrien smirked. "Didn't take you as someone who follows trends."
Stumbling partway through trying to lean casually on a wall, Nino righted himself and fixed his cap indignantly. "I'll have you know that I liked turtles before it was cool!"
"Hahahaha," Adrien covered his mouth, poking Nino below the ribs.
"Hey!" Nino tried to keep hold of his righteous stance but, unfortunately, he was very ticklish. "Heheh- Stop that!"
Adrien's grin took on such a catlike quality Nino swore there was a tail curling behind him. "Look," Adrien pointed, "it you."
Turning, Nino spotted a turtle sticking it's head out of a crevice in the artificial reef. A particularly big fish swam by causing it to duck back in.
Nino raised his arm as though putting it on Adrien's shoulders. Only to pull him down and ruffle his perfect hair.
Adrien laughed as he pulled free of Nino's grip. Mischievous smile firmly in place and looking quite pleased with himself.
For some reason Nino felt his heart skip as Adrien's hair settled into his Chat Noir look. He'd seen it before of course, just... never as a civilian.
Glancing over his reflection in the glass, Adrien made to fix his hair. "Father would kill me if he knew I looked like this in public."
Gently, Nino grabbed Adrien's hand. "I-it looks good like that."
Face suddenly red, Adrien smiled softly. "Yeah?"
Clearing his throat, Nino stepped back a bit. "Of course, bro."
Adrien's eyes fell at the loss of contact.
"Screw your old man."
Adrien's lips twitched at Nino's irreverent comment. "So what are some cool fish around here?"
"Dude, they have the coolest fish, you don't even know!"
Nino spent the rest of the day exhausting his admittedly minor knowledge of marine organisms.
"Cuttlefish!" Adrien rushed up to the cephalopod which changed colors as it was stared at. "Y'know they use their color changing in courtship? They're amazing."
"Alright dude, spill." Nino put his hands on his hips in exaggerated fashion.
"Huh?"
"You obviously know way more than I do about marine biology. That looked like an octopus."
"What? No! You can tell by the shape of it's... Oh." Adrien rubbed the back of his head. "Uh, surprise?"
"C'mon, man. I know you're smart. You don't have to pretend around me." Nino let his arms fall into a more open stance.
"But I liked hearing you explain it." Adrien tapped his pointer fingers together. "Even if you can't tell the difference between a Green and an Olive Ridley."
"That was one time!" Nino tried not to stare at Adrien's smirk. "Have you really never seen an aquarium before?"
"Nope!" Adrien beamed. "But I've read plenty."
"Course you have," Nino sighed.
"What's wrong?"
"I dunno dude. You usually tell me stuff. Like when you told me about..." Nino glanced from side to side before lowering his voice. "About Chat Noir."
"...Oh."
Nino shook his head. "It's dumb, I know. You wanted an excuse to hang. Here I am being all weird because you don't need an excuse. I'm just-"
"This is not how I imagined our first date going," Adrien sighed.
"Yeah, me n- Did you just say date!?"
"Knew we should have gone to the Arc de Triomphe! But Alya was saying how happy you were about the turtle exhibit and I didn't want to come off as a know-it-all, especially about your animal. And now I've made it weird."
Nino blinked as he processed all that. Reaching out to grab one of Adrien's hands again as his best friend tried to wrap his arms around himself. "Adrien you are the weirdest person I know."
Adrien wilted.
"I love that about you, bro."
Head snapping up Adrien's forest green eyes stared directly into Nino's own. A rose tint highlighting his growing grin. "Really?"
"Yeah, man! You know anyone else who can make a leather catsuit look cool?"
The blush bloomed as Adrien's grin spread ear to ear. "Can I kiss you?"
Eyes widening, Nino swallowed. "S-sure!"
The word was barely out of his mouth before Adrien was pulling him close. His lips were so soft for someone with such a strong grip.
Nino's scalp was buzzing as he tried to refocus his eyes. Damn, was Adrien always this hot?
"You have beautiful eyes," Adrien blurted.
"Eh?"
"Sorry, it's just been stuck in my head for so long."
Nino hmmm-ed at how close Adrien still was. "You have beautiful eyes too."
Said eyes gazed at him with such admiration that Nino was more self conscious of staring into each other than he was of the kiss. Clearing his throat, Nino took his hands off Adrien's back. When did those get there?
Nino kept his hand intertwined with Adrien's however.
"So... Does that mean you're okay with dating me?" Adrien's hand was rubbing his head again and his smile was a tad nervous.
Nino squeezed his hand and leaned against his shoulder. "Bro, I'd love to date you."
Adrien beamed. "Cool."
"Never had a boyfriend before," Nino mussed, adjusting his cap.
"I'm sure it's not that different from having a girlfriend."
"True, we just need ta- Wait, when did you have a girlfriend?"
"Oh, uh, y'know how I spent a bunch of time with Kagami?"
"No! My bro's first girlfriend and he kept it a secret from his best friend? I'm hurt."
"Good thing you're there for my first boyfriend then isn't it?"
"Yeah? Tell me about this boy. He cute?"
"Ha! The cutest. And he's got impeccable taste in music."
"Y'know, I think I'd like this guy. When can I meet him?"
"I don't have anything scheduled Saturday."
"Excellent," Nino grinned. "Pick you up at nine?"
Adrien snorted. "I'm picking you up," he guided Nino's hand to the ring on his finger. "Literally."
Nino gazed fondly at his best friend. "Can't wait..."

I call this one "Double Kill"
[ID. First panel, Nino sits at his and Adrien's table in school, he's angled to face Adrien, his right arm resting on the back of their bench and his left hand on the table. He's saying "I still can't believe I got Rose with "Ligma"..." with his eyes closed. There's a small amount of text next to his head that reads: "It was funny, but I still feel bad..." indicating he's saying it under his breath. Him saying this gets Adrien's attention.
Second panel, Adrien is facing forward at Nino. His face is set in a worried smile as he asks, "What's "Ligma"? Is it serious?".
Third panel, Wide shot of them at their desk, showing Marinette and Alya at their table as well, looking down at them. Adrien keeps an expression of now confused worry as Nino looks at him with an open mouth. Marinette is looking down at Adrien with both hands over her mouth as her shoulders shake with contained laughter. Alya is also covering her mouth, but her joy is less contained as she smiles. The word "SPEECHLESS" is written above them to help get the surprise the three of them feel across.
Fourth panel, a shot of Adrien alone, facing forward and covering his face in embarrassment as the statement, "Just found out what Ligma is" is pointed to him in a looping arrow.
Fifth panel, a wide shot of Ladybug and Chat Noir sitting on the edge of a building together. Chat Noir is sitting criss cross with his hands resting on his thighs, sitting forward a bit to show that he's listening to Ladybug. Ladybug is much more relaxed, leaning back on her right hand and holding her left hand up casually. She's smiling as she recalls: "And then he fell for Ligma! I feel bad, but I kinda wanna see if he'll also fall for "Candace"..."
Sixth panel, Chat Noir is now crossing his arms, raising an eyebrow, squinting his eyes, and tilting his head. His right cat ear tilts as well, while his left one stays straight. The words: "Skeptical but curious" are pointed at him with a straight arrow. He's saying, "And who's "Candace"?"
Seventh panel, Ladybug is looking at Chat Noir with a shocked expression, her eyebrows raised and her jaw dropped. She's sitting straighter, her hand is still resting on the ledge, but it's no longer supporting her. The same "SPEECHLESS" is floating above her as it was seen in the third panel, to show just how shocked she truly is.
Eighth panel, Chat Noir is sitting with his knees up to his chest as he covers his face with his hands in embarrassment. His ears are flattened and his tail is curled around his ankles. The words "Just found out who Candace is" is pointed at him with a straight arrow. End ID]
