Yeah Finn’s way of “helping” Simon was dangerous and insane but hear me out

Finn is very gentle and compassionate toward Simon when they are first talking at the bar

Finn keeps trying to suggest things quietly that might help him, and Simon instantly brushed everything off

Then Simon says something that sounds like he’s basically given up on life, and Finn looks to others for help, and they literally turn their back on him, not wanting get involved

Finn’s been in Simon’s shoes. In Together Again, he states he basically spent his whole life waiting to be reunited with Jake. That losing Jake was the worst thing that ever happened to him. Simon doesn’t even have the hope of seeing Betty again in death

Finn is desperate now, and just wants to drag Simon out of his doom-thoughts. So he jumps to the only thing that’s helped himself, even if it’s not the healthiest coping mechanism. Constant adventure as a distraction

But not only that. He wants to take Simon to “the edge of death” so he feels alive

Yes, putting Simon in danger is a little messed up, but he wants Simon to be in a situation where he’s forced to fight for himself. To literally fight for his life, and remember how to value it.

Did it work? Not exactly, but I think Finn knew what he was doing
