I’m really, really liking all of Fjord and Caduceus’ conversations regarding fate and the Wildmother and how to get Fjord to a better place than the one he’s at, both capabilities-wise and also just sort of mentally. There’s a beautiful and very comforting surety in Caduceus whenever he looks at Fjord, it seems - a sort of “I see so much in you and I’m loving being there for it and I’m absolutely unwaveringly certain that you’re gonna be just fine”. Fjord is so rattled by being stripped of his powers, desperately unsure of his way forward and also a little despondent about his chances of ever getting rid of Uk’otoa, or even being able to keep his head above water; how to go about taking up the safety line that the Wildmother has been throwing him for a while now. And that is it, really -- Caduceus is that safety line, or the guide to it. And Fjord is where Caduceus finds so much meaning and reason for being where he is and doing what he’s doing. They have rapidly become each other’s sign from the Wildmother, each in the way that the other has been looking for and needing very much. It’s an exquisite and very unique dynamic and I’m really enjoing it.

The quality of D&D actual play shows has only steadily increased over time. Every player is better than when they started, every DM is better, every member of each production crew is better, the editing and sound design in the podcasts is better, the encounter design is better, etc… I absolutely love the stuff from 5+ years ago and it’s only a testament to the people involved that they’ve made things better. We’re living at the best possible time for D&D content and there’s enough variety that you can find something to your taste. And that’s just great.

Deanna is the fridged wife from the tragic backstory of your good ole adventurer, and they meet in frigid wastes. Except this time, it's her story, and coping with the decisions made by this person, to return what was lost to this world, though she was at peace. And, yet, she came at his call.
The setting, the word choice, everything feels painfully symbolic and I really can only applaud the whole thing.

It is Done. I've finished embroidery on my blouse for the Laudna cosplay
Tumblr media
Ever since I've seen the first episode of Campaign 3, and even before any announcement of cons, I was seized by an idea. I just had to do a Laudna cosplay, even though I've never done one before in my life. I was inspired by the wonderful official design (by @agarthanguide), bought a simple blouse, taught myself really quickly hand embroidery, and got to work. And I'm really happy about how it turned out !
(more photos and details under the cut)

I started in January 2022, with no pressure for a year, so I took it very slow. And then when the MCM London was announced, I finished almost half of the project in under 3 months ! Unfortunately, because I'm still new at this, I didn't exactly count the total time I spent on this, but it's more than 60 hours for sure, and probably around 140 hours in total (including initial drawings, trials on other materials, re-drawings on the final blouse, washing, etc.).

The little yellow square were my enemies for a time (some do not resemble squares... but I got the hang of it after a while). In general, I think the lines are not really straight, but when worn, no one will see !!
This project changed my life, in small ways (like everything you do in life). It was not only a part of my first cosplay ever, but especially the thing that made me do embroidery. I discovered a passion, and techniques, and resources (thanks Internet people everywhere !), and since then I've been working on other projects - not CR related, that I may show later if people are interested. Also it's been a constant companion of my intense watching of the later episodes of campaign 2 : picture me if you will with my needle and thread and my project watching the best team that no one in Exandria has ever heard of save an archfey, not-really-kill an archmage, and save the world while still being chucklefucks.
So yeah I'm excited to share it with the world, a little. London awaits !

It’s funny how in a way it feels like this abduction, and Molly’s subsequent death, and all the upheaval around it is what has really brought this group together for good. They feel different. Caleb, Nott, and Beau have made the active choice to not cut their losses, say “too bad” and move on, but to instead go to a great effort, even past one terrible defeat, to get the other three back safely. Jester and Fjord (and Yasha, though she left them for now) have been extended a great deal of loyalty, tenacity, and care by their friends, something that at least Fjord has already expressed that he wouldn’t have faulted them for not finding it in them to do - and that he perhaps hadn’t dared to really hope for. He doesn’t sound like the kind of guy who’s had a lot of that in his life.
And then, of course, in the process of all this, one of them lost his life. And there’s blame and guilt weighting on them, all of it directed inwards - again it’s Fjord who is expressing a lot of this, upon being asked by Beau, but she feels the same, and surely so do the others - that Molly died trying to free them, that none of this would have happened if, if, if...
But it binds them together. A lot of really significant things happened there, in the last couple episodes, and they come out of it different. They are different. They’ve got a member lost, and a member gained, and they know now that they will stand up for each other, go to great lengths for each other; this isn’t just a relationship out of mostly convenience anymore, for easy travel and for coin and for fun. They won’t scatter to the four winds in the face of real trouble. This group has begun to solidify into something pretty damn real, and most of them have in one way or another already expressed that that’s something they haven’t really had in their lives before - friends, people who aren’t just looking to exploit you, people you make the choice to stick around for and who so far you haven’t managed to chase away. Probably won’t manage in the future, either. People to leave each town a little bit better with. To try to be better for, to get better for. Because you’re finding that maybe you can really count on them and you want to be the kind of person they will count on in return.
I think I’m finally beginning to understand what people see in the Mighty Nein that makes them love them so much.

orym’s motivations slowly diverging from the original group intent but most of the group following him uncertainly anyway because historically he’s been their heart, their leader.
orym losing himself in something vaguely shaped like a mission and shedding all of his soft layers to accomplish it even when the mission isn’t clear.
orym becoming a Whatever It Takes unstoppable force posited against laudna’s But Not My Girl immovable object.
oh we’re on the moon now, boys. ohhhhh, we are in it now.
