The large and vicious she-dragon was first ridden by Visenya Targaryen, the first sister-wife to Aegon Targaryen. The large dragon outlived Balerion the Black Dread and Meraxes, but she became too large for the world she once helped conquer. Her other known riders were Prince Baelon Targaryen, Lady Laena Velaryon and Prince Aemond Targaryen.
Vhagar was bronze and green in colour with a strong snout, a defined body, and a long thin tail. There aren’t many dragons with her particular facial shape. But her body resembles the traditional dragon-like model.
Out of the three Conquerors’ dragons, Vhagar was the smallest and youngest, with Balerion and Meraxes besting her in strength and scales. However, Vhagar was the only one of the three to survive and live to see the next four generations.

Ok, Keep it Short: Immortal!Reader being the reason why everything started.
You guys may have seen the reblogs of my asks with @missglaskin last night. And that whole thing made me have a small idea, so this is it. Not gonna be long, this is just to distract myself from studying a bit.
T.W: Mentions of Death, Obsession that caused the whole plot of Aegon's Conquest, and spoilers maybe.

"I will marry you, only if you reunite the 7 Kingdoms of Westeros and become it's King."
Oh, how you regret such words.
But after living for so long and having this Valyrian boy running after you just to have you as his 3rd wife, you had to get some fun out of it, giving him some challenge and see how it goes.
You never expected him to actually do it, actually, it was an absurd idea. Who in their sane minds would try to conquer an entire continent?
Him, Aegon Targaryen. He would cross every limit just for you to be his wife, he fought every lord and army just for you, he burned Dorne, not just for his dear Rhaenys, but to prove to you the depth of his love and devotion.
You realize your mistake, this man was out of line and now everything was burning in your name. You caused this, you had to run and hide before he-
"My love, it's finished...I did just as you asked of me."
Behind you, there was he, in all his glory, waiting for you. You won't turn him down now, right? After all, he did this for you.

An Eye for an Eye (part 1)
Pairing: Aemond x OC! Daenys Varyon-Targaryen
Summary: Daenys Velaryon-Targaryen is the oldest child of Rhaenyra and Laenor Velaryon, but she shares the same true lineage as her brothers Jacaerys, Lucerys, and Joffrey. Having grown up beside Aemond Targaryen, she has become a friend, a companion, and eventually a beloved wife to him. But when the man she loves commits an unforgivable crime, she must choose between her beloved and her family.
parts: 1 / 2 / 3 / 4 /  5 / 6 / 7 / Future parts: MASTERLIST
A/N: I have seen so many edits of the scene where Vhagar chomps down on poor baby Lucerys and Aemond looks shaken and it got me in my feels so I thought I'd try my hand at my first fanfiction. Aemond is probably a bit OOC but I was craving regretful soft Aemond so here we are. This is also pretty canon divergent lol. This fic is also available on AO3

Daenys Targaryen walked the halls of the castle lost in thought. The past few days had been quite strenuous, with the death of her grandfather and the crowning of Queen Alicents son Aegon. Daenys yearned to return to Dragonstone to her mother, the rightful heir, and support her true claim. However, her access to the dragon pit had been forbidden and she was barely ever allowed to leave the castle unchaperoned. Someone was always watching her every move and she was beginning to feel stifled. Perhaps, she thought, a part of her stayed to try and convince her husband to join her mother's cause. It was a laughable thought really, because how could she of all people ever get Aemond to turn his back on his family?
They had been friends since childhood and when he had asked his father, the late King Viserys, to offer for her hand in marriage, Daenys was more than happy to accept, even if her mother was a little reluctant. Even her relationship with the Queen had once been one of companionship and tenderness, but the recent crowning of Aegon had placed a strain on their relationship. Daenys had once been Alicient's favourite of all of Rhaenyra's children, so much so that she had been the one to convince Rhaenyra regarding her betrothal to Aemond, speaking of alliances and powerful unions. It certainly helped that Daneys looked the part of a true Targaryen, unlike her beloved brothers whose parentage was always put into question. Perhaps, Alicent had taken advantage of Daenys's fondness for Aemond to keep her in King's Landing for a while longer as opposed to running off to Dragonstone to her mother. The royal family needed to present a united front during such a time of chaos.
As she reached the throne room, Daenys heard a commotion. There was yelling, a frustrated sigh, and then furious whispering. Daenys could barely make out the words but she could swear her name being said, along with her brother Lucerys's. Why would he be here, she wondered, but her heart raced with anticipation. Perhaps her mother had sent for her. The Hightowers couldn't very well keep her here if her mother officially summoned her and sent her brother to bring her back to Dragonstone.
With a skip in her step, she entered the throne room. However, her brother was nowhere to be seen and she was greeted by a strange scene. Otto Hightower and the dowager queen were engaged in heated whispers while Aegon sat on the iron throne laughing. Her eyes scanned the room and eventually landed on her husband. Aemond Targaryen looked lost. His eyepatch was missing, his eyes were wide in what looked like equal parts of disbelief and horror. His hair was mussed like he had just been out riding Vhagar. Something must have disturbed him while he was out, though Daenys couldn't think of a single thing that would possibly scare the mighty Aemond Targaryen. Worry gnawed at her either way as she rushed to his side to take his trembling hands in her own.
Her entrance silenced the entire room. Even Aegon halted his maniacal laughter. When the queen's eyes landed on her, they softened immediately. Aemond on the other hand froze and went pale. He refused to meet her eyes and pulled his hands away.
"Aemond are you alright?" she spoke gently, trying not to startle him further, "what's going on?"
At the sound of her voice, Aemond flinched. Aegon smirked.
"Tell her what happened. Go ahead. It is the best news I've heard in a long time," he crowed with pleasure.
At the sound of everyone's silence, Aegon laughed even louder.
"Daenys my dear, pay Aegon no mind. His majesty simply has too much on his mind. 'Tis nothing," Alicent said gently, coming over to put her hand comfortingly on Daenys's shoulder.
"Oh for God's sake, stop being such cowards. Tell her the truth. Why don't you tell her brother?" Aegon turned to Aemond. "Tell your beloved what you did to her brother!"
Daenys froze. Her brother? Is that why they were talking about him earlier? Had something happened to him? Her heart twisted as she tried to meet Aemond's eyes. Eyes that remained glued to the floor.
"My dear there's been an accident..." Alicent tried again before Aegon interrupted.
"Why let mother fight your battles against your lady wife Aemond? You seemed perfectly capable of fighting for yourself against that Strong Bastard. An eye for an eye was it then?"
Daenys's jaw dropped as she whirled towards Aemond with fury in her eyes.
"You fought with my brother? Why would you do that? Was that the accident then? Did you hurt him? Where is he now?"
"At the bottom of the..." Aegon stopped with a scowl as Aemond glared daggers at him.
"Your brother...uh he... he had an accident and unfortunately he didn't make it," Alicent whispered.
Oh.
Oh.
All the fire went out inside of her and Daenys slumped to her knees on the floor. Aemond tried to approach her, speaking for the first time since she entered the room.
"Daenys, listen..."
She flinched away from his touch as he reached for her.
"Don't," she whispered, her eyes filling with unshed tears.
"Daenys please," he pleaded.
Aegon was clearly enjoying this. He grinned at his brother.
"We shall have a grand feast for you, Kinslayer. Finally rid of that bastard. As king perhaps I shall gift you the Driftmark seat. You may rule the seas you earned with your lady love," he winked.
Aemond's eyes remain fixed on Daenys as she slowly turned towards him.
"How... how did it..." she could barely get the words out.
"It was an accident, I swear it. I tried to stop Vhagar but she wouldn't listen. I promise it was an accident," Aemond insisted, still trying to reach for her, even as she pulled farther away.
"Oh quit being modest brother. Tell her how you earned the name Kinslayer. Finally going after the bastard who took your eye. You were even kind enough to give him the choice of carving out his own eye. A courtesy I remember he did not offer you. It was only after he so rudely denied you your repayment that you went after him. As king, I declare it to be a fair game to be sure," Aegon winked at Daenys, recounting the entire tale of how Aemond gave chase to Lucerys and his dragon in Storm's End. His grin grew wider as her expression grew more horrified.
"If you are too upset with my brother to warm his bed, you know where to find me, don't you? After all, it was his dragon that took a nice big bite out of your brother."
A strangled cry of horror and disbelief escaped Daenys's lips as she glared at Aemond.
"You are still on about that? After all these years, you still haven't let it go?"
"He took my eye!" Aemond protested.
"He was 5! A child!"
“And what of me? I was a child too. A child who lost his eye and had to live with this hideous disfigurement for the rest of my life!”
“I'm sorry for that. Truly I am. I even offered you my eye as retribution for what my brother did. He was a child and didn’t know better. That still didn’t give you the right to take his life.”
"I... I'm telling you it was an accident. I didn't mean for it to happen like that. I just got angry and wanted to teach him a lesson. I gave chase only as a prank, to scare him a little. I didn't mean for him to get hurt."
"He was still a child Aemond! You chased my little brother and his baby dragon across Storm's End on that monstrosity you ride. What did you expect?" Daenys sobbed, tears now streaming down her face. "You killed him. You and your stupid giant brute of a dragon killed my baby brother!"
"Daenys, please. I'm sorry. I didn't mean for this to happen," Aemond pleaded. He knelt next to her and tried to take her into his arms as her entire body seemed to vibrate with grief and rage.
It hurt him to see her this way, coming apart at the seams. She pulled away from him violently, taking deep shuddering breaths.
"Stay the hell away from me!" she shrieked.
Aemond lowered his hands, chest aching. He looked at his mother beseechingly until she knelt beside Daenys.
"Shhhh my darling. It's going to be ok. I'm sorry. He's sorry. We're sorry," Alicent soothed.
"NO!" Daenys screamed. "It won't be alright. My brother is dead. My brother is dead!"
Daenys doubled over, her insides burning. She pressed her forehead against the cool marble of the throne room and willed it to swallow her. Great sobs wracked her body and she pushed away the multitudes of arms that tried to hold her, to pull her up and carry her away. Then it became hard to breathe and when she started choking on her own frenzied cries, she allowed herself to slip into the darkness that hovered just at the edge of her consciousness.
Alicent looked at the girl who lay slumped on the floor in pity. First, by crowning Aegon as King and now by killing one of Rhaenyra's sons, her family had officially broken any and all bonds with Rhaenyra’s. This meant war to be sure. She did feel sorry for Daenys though. She cared for the girl more than she cared to admit. She was the only one of the ladies at court who didn't give her son Aemond a hard time over his missing eye, who wouldn't look at him with fear or disgust. She had always been kind to him, and Alicent knew her son's heart belonged wholly to the girl. It was a pity that it had come to this. While the girl herself posed no real threat to Alicent or the crown, especially as Aemond's bride, her family did.
"Take your wife up to your room Aemond. She needs to rest, the poor girl has worn herself out," Alicent gestured to Daenys's limp body that lay at their feet.
Aemond gathered her up in his arms as carefully as he could and made his way to their shared room. He looked at her with eyes full of remorse. He never meant to hurt her like this. He supposed the cruel part of him wanted to hurt Lucerys, but the part of him that loved Daenys was far greater and so all he was left with was a feeling of emptiness and self-loathing. He wondered if they could ever come back from this. If she would ever forgive him for this crime. He wondered if he even deserved her forgiveness.
As he gently tucked her into bed, he couldn't resist placing a gentle kiss upon her troubled brow. She whimpered in her slumber.
"I'm sorry Daenys."

I'm a slut for the Valyria lore, so of course I loved the bits of dreamer lore in this chapter. Which Valyrian gods do you think have "chosen" the different dreamers in Stormbreak?
Hehe I have indeed thought about this, so I'm happy to elaborate! There are also a bunch of people (Viserys, Daella, Rhaena, etc.) who aren't confirmed dreamers in book canon but who I think very well might have had the ability. This list will deal with the confirmed dreamers between FaB canon and Stormbreak (not including ASoIaF). These connections may or may not end up explicitly confirmed in Stormbreak, certainly not for every single dreamer mentioned. But know that the connection is there.
Daenys was blessed by Tessarion, the goddess of nature. Her dream was directly related to the natural disaster that wiped out Old Valyria, after all.
Aegon I was blessed by Arrax, the goddess of day and the sun. His dream, the Song of Ice and Fire, pertained to the struggle between day and night, after all. About the triumph of light and fire over dark and cold.
Helaena was blessed by Meraxes herself, the goddess of the future and foresight. This is meant to emphasize how Helaena's connection to her dreams is more powerful than any other character's, since she has the most direct connection to the ability to see the future. Remember, Meraxes is the mother of Shyrkos, who sends dragon dreamers their prophecies.
Aemond was blessed by Vermithor, the god of victory and achievement. This is meant to emphasize his life's journey, which is an exercise in resilience and overcoming obstacles, as well as finding inner strength. Also that he is Vhagar's baby boy.
Jaehaera was blessed by Balerion, the god of death and transformation. This is meant to emphasize her twinship (Balerion is one of two twins within the Valyrian gods), and also her status as the other. She's a little separate, a little uncanny, from most others around her. Also, girly named her dragon "death" in High Valyrian so you know she's a little emo. (If you read my post associating characters with the Seven, you'll see the parallels between her and her father here).
[REDACTED] was blessed by Terrax. This is meant to emphasize him having a stronger connection to his dragon dreaming, though not quite as strong as Helaena's, since Terrax is the other parent of Shyrkos, who gives the dreamers their gifts. It also suits his quieter personality.

Just realized that Alicent and Viserys' marriage is shown to be more peaceful when Aegon is 2 and Helaena a baby.
Then the storm of Viserys and Rhaenyra's betrayal wrecks havoc in episode 5, before Rhaenyra's wedding to Laenor.
Which means...stay with me...that Aemond, who followed, was conceived when Alicent resented Viserys.
And Aemond grows to become the Blacks' biggest nightmare in the Dance, scattering many of their plans and taking Daemon down with him.
*Special mention to Daeron as well, who followed Aemond and turned the tide of the war.*
You know what I'm about to say it....
POETIC JUSTICE!!!!!!

𝐃𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐦𝐟𝐲𝐫𝐞 𝑇𝘩𝑒 𝑀𝑜𝑡𝘩𝑒𝑟 𝑜𝑓 𝐷𝑟𝑎𝑔𝑜𝑛𝑠
A mere hatchling during the reign of Aegon I, Dreamfyre bonded with nine-year-old Princess Rhaena Targaryen, Aegon I's first grandchild. The she-dragon had another rider, Alicent and Viserys’ daughter, Helaena Targaryen. She was riding Dreamfyre by age eleven and their bond was strong.
The slender she-dragon had a pale blue colouring with silver accents. Similar to Silverwing and Tessarion, although her dragon fire is the usual red/orange. It’s widely rumoured that Dreamfyre is the mother of Drogon, Rhaegal and Viserion. This can indicate that Dreamfyre has a more classic dragon look, similar to that of Seasmoke, Meleys, and of course Drogon.
Dreamfyre’s temperament was the same as her riders; loyal, unique and severely underestimated. She laid many eggs in her lifetime, making her one of the most fertile dragons in Westeros. Many people were desperate to get their hands on Dreamfyre’s eggs. And in the past one of Rhaena’s close friends, Elissa Farman, had stolen a clutch.

Ok, You asked for This: Aegon I and Maegor as your lovers/husbands
Alright, a while ago, while i still studying, a follower requested this from me and like the irresponsible b*tch that i am, I FORGOT 😃-
So now i am here to apologize for my fish memory and also, for not doing the completely writing your request. But honestly, i am not confident enough to write those characters (Especially Roose Bolton-)
And remember, this is a yandere imagine, so this can get dark.
Requested by: @gulnarsultan

〓〓〓〓〓〓〓〓〓〓〓〓〓〓〓〓〓〓〓〓〓〓〓〓〓〓〓〓〓〓〓
Aegon I:
Hear me out, Aegon the Conqueror, Valyrian mf who already has two wifes decides to add a new one to the party and that's you.
And for that sole fact, you also get to be around Visenya and Rhaenys, who for sharing blood with their crazy ass husband, also become infatuated with you.
As for your own person, it doesn't matter your origins, you could a random peasant or lady, or even another sister of his (Following up with the valyrian tradition everyone-), you are stuck with them.
So now Aegon has to share you with his sisters, but believe me when i say that he always finds a way to be with you more then your wifes. And yes, that caused a lot of discussions between them, especially with Aegon and Visenya, while Rhaenys escapes and goes to your chambers :)
Also, there times where they shared you...in bed- In which you had to endure Aegon and Visenya fighting so one of them could be on top, while Rhaenys was going down on you
You also got to meet Baby Aenys, his mother made sure that you had a bond with him so consequently she could spend more time with you (And Visenya uses that same method years later)
But unlike with Aenys, you didn't spend much time with Maegor as you wished, since his brother constantly wanted your attention, after all, he is motherless. Maegor hated him for this, that boy wanted attention too 😐
You are kept inside of your chambers whenever your lovers are out, you can walk are the castle of course, but being guarded by very trusted knights chosed by Visenya.
With all the Conquest happening, they still find a way to be with you, but they only let you go outside if it's by flying their dragons with your back pressed on their chests. Which also made the dragons very used to your presence.
You are spoiled to the core, affection and praises are tripled with these people and no one can curse at you or flirt with you...or even talk to you at all, if they value their lifes.
Believe me, when Maegor was a child, he heard a lord calling you names(Never specified whether they were good or bad) and as a good stepson, he told his mom.
That lord became Dragon food by the morning 😃
You may have a kid or two for Aegon, in which caused some drama, since he truly wanted your first born to be his heir, instead of Aenys.
But since he was the first son, Aegon had to give the title to Aenys.
I can only say this, Aegon is more clingy than he allows himself to be, especially when Rhaenys dies, now that man became glued to you, earning for your love and affection. And jokes on you if you think that there will be any force on the universe that can take him away.
Ok, let's try to imagine a day where you manage to escape from Dragonstone without someone noticing. Poor 7 kingdoms, may i say, cuz it be tormented by 2/3 dragons until they find you.
And when they do...well, Aegon may not hurt too much physically, he can't handle seeing you hurt , but he will make you feel guilt over your actions. Now, pray that Visenya won't be involved in the punishment, she is not the type to have mercy.
In case she is still alive in this moment, i picture Rhaenys taking care of your wounds once it's over and reminding you, none of that would have happened if you stayed, you broke their hearts, now it's your job to fix it.
〓〓〓〓〓〓〓〓〓〓〓〓〓〓〓〓〓〓〓〓〓〓〓〓〓〓〓〓〓〓〓
Maegor I:
Oh boy
Now that's one tough cookie, that man is ruthless. You can't expect much from him.
First, you can't leave your chambers, only if he is by your side, and only him, not even the guards are trusted with this. But since he is barely available for the task, you are 99% of the time trapped.
You have no company, his other wifes are not allowed to interact with you (especially Tyanna) and your servants can solely do their job at the moment, then leave.
But don't worry, your husband will be by your side once the night comes, you just don't know whether that is a good thing or not, and honestly? Depends on his mood.
That also counts for whether he fucks you hard to point of almost breaking the bed (and you as well-), or normally, which is still hard, but at least you are not feeling like you body will be torn in half.
In which opens the topic of children, this man has a huge breeding kink that can become your nightmare, especially since you are the only one who successfully gave him healthy children.
In which said children are also trapped with you, so yeah, good luck on giving your babies attention. (Cuz they will grow with a lot of psychological problems)
I don't believe that Maegor would be a good father, too busy terrorizing his family and the 7 kingdoms.
I would give you guys an idea of what could happen if you escaped...if that's was possible. You are locked in your room with many guards surrounding the area of your chambers, they would never let you escape, everyone knows how special you are to Maegor and they value their lifes. So no chances of you trying to escape. 🙂
But Maegor would punish you solely for attempting, honestly, and he takes after his mother, no mercy. I am sorry-
Your children also would watch btw, they need to learn what happens when you disobey Father, and then you wouldn't see them for a while.
So yeah, being Maegor's wife is bad enough already, now being his obsession can be even worse. Luckily, 7 years later, he dies, so now you have to deal with your children without knowing what the rest of the world will do against you simply because of your (forced) relationship with Maegor, the Cruel.
〓〓〓〓〓〓〓〓〓〓〓〓〓〓〓〓〓〓〓〓〓〓〓〓〓〓〓〓〓〓〓

Makes me wonder how Daenys reacted during that dinner scene.
haha yea, I had a fic planned for that too, but every time I try to write something cute for this man I remember he is a little menace so it ends up being angsty. Why is he like this 😭💀 Anyways, here we are, the dinner scene ✨

The Proposal (part 2)
parts:  1 / 2 / 3
Just before they entered the dining area, Daenys tugged Aemond's arm and pulled him to a stop. He raised an eyebrow at her in question.
"My brothers, Jace and Luke. They will be surprised when grandsire makes his announcement. This is quite unexpected to us all... so if they say something, just please pay it no mind. Please keep the peace, at least for tonight. I do not wish to see anyone fight."
Aemond smiled at her. He supposed he could be cordial, at least for tonight. He could do it to her, even if just the sight of her brothers enraged him sometimes. Bringing back memories of his childhood, of them teasing him for not having a dragon, and of all the pranks they played on him along with his older brother Aegon. He could do it for her. He would do it for her. She deserved to have a nice evening to mark the day of their betrothal.
"Alright, I promise to restrain myself. I shall be the very picture of civility and decorum," he grinned, patting her hand that was around his arm.
"Restraint? Perhaps you can be nice. Talk to them. I don't think you've ever had a genuine conversation with them."
"Restraint is the best thing you're getting from me, my love. And even that I do only for you."
"Oh well. I suppose that I should be grateful. It's just that I wish you all would get along better. Especially now that we are to be married," Daenys swatted at his arm, frowning at him.
Aemond pressed his thumb to the crease between her eyebrows and drew small circles until her brow relaxed and he had coaxed a smile from her.
"For you, I shall do my best."
__________
Entering the room, Daenys made her way toward her brothers who were having a lively conversation with Baela and Rhaena at one end of the table.
"Well well, I believe congratulations are in order. You all are betrothed. Oh, how delightful. And Baela and Rhaena, you'll be in charge of reigning these boys in now. I pass on my responsibility to you," Daenys winked at the girls playfully.
Rhaena blushed and ducked her head while Baela grinned at Jace. Daenys's heart swelled with joy. All the people she loved were coming together and it made her immensely happy. When the arrival of King Viserys was announced, everyone rushed to take their places. Daenys was about to make her way to sit with Aemond when both Jace and Luke grabbed her hands.
"Where are you going Daenys? Aren't you going to sit with us?" they inquired.
From across the table, Aemond looked at her, and then at the chair beside him, his intent clear. Daenys shrugged and mouthed an apology to him, taking her seat between her brothers. She could feel Aemond's burning glare from across the room and so she gave him her most earnest smile to placate him.
Why do you keep looking over there?" Jace glanced at her, a knowing look in his eyes.
Daenys flicked his forehead in mock annoyance.
"Mind your own business, Jace. Don't you have a betrothed to focus on tonight? Go bother her," Daenys looked pointedly at Baela who smiled at her in return.
There was a sound of a throat being cleared before King Viserys slowly stood to make his speech. He congratulated Jace and Luke on their betrothals. When he toasted Lucerys and his future as Lord of the Tides, Lucerys looked down, his mouth turned down slightly. Daenys could tell that he was anxious, but before she could comfort him, Rhaena reached out and squeezed his hand.
"You'll be great," she said softly, and Daenys smiled at her gratefully. Her brother was in good hands, with someone who loved him.
"There is another betrothal to be announced as well," the king smiled.
Daenys swallowed nervously as everyone looked around the room in curiosity.
"I am pleased to announce the betrothal of Daenys and Aemond, who are to be married in 2 weeks. It saddens me to see the faces most dear to me grow so distant from each other but it is my sincere desire that this will be the first step in uniting us all."
Both her brothers looked at her in surprise and Daenys shrugged in apology for not telling them sooner. She caught Aemond's eye and he smiled at her, so she found himself grinning back at him. Perhaps all her worries about him being forced into this for the sake of alliances were proving to be untrue. He certainly seemed happy enough with it, almost enthusiastic even, as Viserys had put it earlier.
"You're marrying him? Are they forcing you Daenys? Because if they are, you know we will fight for your right to choose. You should not have to be sold like cattle to him for the sake of alliances," Jace blurted, Luke nodding vigorously alongside him.
"No. No, don't be silly. As if they can make me do something I wouldn't want to do. Don't you know your sister better? Has anyone ever been able to force her into something?" Daenys reassured.
"So...so you're choosing to marry him? But why. Why him?"
"Well grandsire asked, and I didn't see any reason to refuse. It will be good for the family."
The rest of the evening progressed smoothly, with Rhaenyra and Alicent making their own toasts to each other and for a while, a glimpse of their past friendship could be seen in the way they looked at each other. All was going well until a platter of roast pig was brought out. Daenys heard Lucerys laugh quietly and her eyes immediately darted to Aemond. She nudged Luke, a frown on her face but before she could say a word, Aemond had already slammed his hand on the table and lifted his cup in a toast. Daenys looked at him with pleading eyes. She just knew he was going to say something that would cause chaos because he had that look in his eye.
Aemond looked at his betrothal's frantic eyes as she silently begged him to be civil like he had promised her. Perhaps he should exercise control. Even his mother was looking at him wearily as the room collectively held its breath, waiting for him to utter his words. He had every intention of giving a respectful toast, at least until he saw Lucerys giggle softly again and smirk. Aemond's restraint snapped, civility be damned.
"To the health of my nephews, Jace, Luke, and Joffrey. Each of them, handsome, wise, and strong."
"Aemond..." Alicent warned.
"Let us drain our cups to these three strong boys," and with Aemond's words, the room erupted in chaos.
Jace stalked toward Aemond to punch him and Luke stood to help before Aegon slammed him face-first into the table. Daenys saw red. She stood too, and swung her fist at Aegon, hearing a crack upon contact. Aegon howled in pain, blood spilling down his face.
"You will not touch my brother," she snarled.
She pulled Luke up gently, checking for injuries before rushing towards Jace who had been thrown to the ground by Aemond. As he moved towards her brother once again,  Daenys knelt between them and held up her hand.
"I swear to the gods, if you even come near him, I will make you regret it."
When Daemon finally intervened and sent everyone to their chambers, Daenys shot one last dark look at Aemond before storming out. She vowed to herself to speak to her grandsire the very next day. She would not marry him. The alliance could go to hell for all she cared.
Back in their chambers, Daenys carefully tended to the bruise on Luke's cheek and the cut on Jace's forehead.
"Are you really going to marry him Daenys? He seems volatile. What if he hurts you?" Luke asked with worry-filled eyes.
Daenys scoffed, "I'd like to see him try and hurt me. I would take the very hand he used. But he hurt you two, and that is what matters most to me. I will speak to grandsire tomorrow."
She kissed Luke's forehead and hugged them both tight. She felt guilty that she had not been able to compel Aemond to keep his promise and her beloved brothers had been hurt because of it. She would not bring further danger upon them and if her marriage to him did so, she would refuse it.

Later that night, Daenys found herself in the castle's library. It had been her refuge as a child and she had spent many an hour lost in the books. She found herself once again needing their comfort as she flipped absentmindedly through the pages. She was finally distracted by the sound of footsteps.
"I knew I'd find you here," it was the last person she wanted to see.
"Go away Aemond. I do not wish to see you."
"Daenys...I...I'm sorry."
Daenys ignored him. She refused to look up and entertain his presence.
"Daenys would you at least look my way. I said I'm sorry."
She finally stood in a rush of anger.
"You know what, stop apologizing. Not when you don't mean it. Was it really that hard, what I asked? Was it really that hard for you to be civil? Not only did you feel the need to make that awful joke, but then you also physically hurt my brother. What is wrong with you?" she fumed.
"I acted impulsively I know, but I wouldn't have hit your brother if he had not come at me . He's the one who punched me. And besides,  you hit my brother too. I'm pretty sure you cracked his nose but you don't see me berating you for it."
"Jace only hit you because you insulted our family. Our mother! And as for your brother, he hurt Luke. I would have done him much worse had I not had other things to worry about."
"You're being irrational. It was a mere jest. A comedic toast to celebrate the joining of our families. I am proud of my family, so I only thought your brothers would be proud of theirs."
"I heard you say that to Queen Alicent. You may think you can fool her with your pathetic excuses but do not even try it with me."
"Can you just stop!" Aemond's voice grew louder in frustration.
"You don't realize the implication of what you said, do you? Have you forgotten that I am their sister? Whatever blood they come from, so do I. If you find them so repulsive due to their parentage, then you must find me repulsive too. Not to mention how disrespectful that comment was toward my mother. Do you know what you were even insinuating?" Daenys raged.
Aemond stepped towards her to put his hands on her shoulders in an attempt to calm her down but she shrugged him off.
"No don't you dare try to placate me now. You made me a promise. You said you would behave but you clearly couldn't keep your word. And how am I supposed to know that you don't think of me as inferior because of my blood? Why would you even want to marry someone like me then? If my brothers are strong boys, then that makes me a very strong girl."
"What no! I don't think of you as inferior. I could never think that about you," Aemond protested.
Daenys felt the prick of tears behind her eyes and it only made her angrier. She could not cry. Not here in front of him. Not when she was trying to prove a point. But still, her heart broke a little at his carelessness, at the lack of control over his words. How foolish of her to ever think they could ever work out.
"You know I had actually thought you wanted to marry me. That you might even care for me. But I guess I was wrong. Your passive-aggressive behaviour towards me and my family certainly suggests so. If you are agreeing to this betrothal to please grandsire, worry not. I will speak to him about breaking it off. You will not have to appear the disobedient son, but I refuse to live this farce with you. Living as if we care for each other when you clearly don't," Daenys's voice was thick with unshed tears.
Aemond's hand reached for her face and thumbed away the tears that streamed down. Daenys hadn't even realized that she was crying, but she swatted his hand away and wiped her own tears aggressively with the back of her hand. Aemond's eyes grew soft with guilt when he looked at her tearful form. It seemed that he couldn't do anything right around her.
"No. No, don't do that. Please don't do that. I am not doing this just for grandsire," he pleaded.
Daenys shook her head.
"We are returning to Dragonstone in a few days. It seems clear that we are not welcome here," signalling the end of the conversation.
Aemond watched her walk away, panic beginning to bubble up his throat. He could not lose her like this, due to his careless words. He would find some way to make it up to her.
