Throne of Glass bad things I guess. This is a list of bad things that happened to Aelin starting when she was 8 to 18. This contains extreme spoilers so yeah.

Aelin 1. When she was 8 her parents, family, and everyone she carried about died. Then Marion made a sacrifice for her, which might have been what she carried with her most because she felt like it was a pointless sacrifice, she almost didn’t get away. Aelin’s biggest weakness is arguably her loyalty to her friends, she would do anything for them do anything to keep them safe. One reason I believe this is because of is Marion’s sacrifice. She doesn’t want anyone else to make these sacrifices for her. She only barely got away because of the wyrdkey around her neck and Elena. Then of course Arobynn found her and took her in. Because someone wants to kill her, (she doesn’t know who at that point) and because she is the princess to be queen of Terrasen, Arobynn gives her the name Celaena Sardothein, and raises her as an assassin. This it’s self is another thing on the list, because she wished to become a healer.

2. Her training with Arobynn was nothing outside of torture, with Arobynn’s brutal methods one was to get her able to use a weapon easily with either hand, he had her break her own wrist. All of this led her to become the best assassin ever, (Adarlan’s Assassin) though she still vowed never to kill anyone from Terrasen. This went on for ten years.

3. just before she turned 17 She went on a mission to skulls bay, where she found out about Arobynn’s business in slave trades. Of course, Aelin being Aelin, she released the slaves and when she came back to the Assassin’s keep, Arobynn beat her and sent her packing to the Silent Assassins. And then of course when she got back (she turned 18 over the time) Arobynn pulled another lie on her and got her an avocation to kill this ‘slave dealer’ who turned out to actually be someone trying to save slaves. Aelin was crushed with this news, it was easily enough to convince her to use the money she’d gotten from the mute master to free herself from Arobynn. This brings up another thing he did, paying for her to have the best training, the best clothes, food, whatever she wanted, then turned around and said that she had to pay him back for all of this, and until then, she was bound to him. He also did this to Sam, his second favorite young assassin. (Aelin had to sell her horse to get the money to free him of his dept)

4. Sam died. Aelin and Sam now away from the Assassin’s keep couldn’t find and contracts, until they agreed to go after one of the most dangerous people in Adarlan, Rourke Farran. Sam walked right into a trap and was tortured and killed by Farran. This broke Aelin. The first person she had found since the downfall of Terrasen that she actually loved died, was killed, she failed him. She could barely move when she found out, then deciding to inflict her revenge on Rourke she jumped into Arobynn’s trap, and was sent to Endovier, where she worked as a slave.

5. Endovier, is a torture camp set up by the king of adarlan. Aelin was tortured there for a year, only trying to break free once, on the anniversary of her parents death. All of these events in Aelin’s life take place before the events of Throne of Glass, another thing to notice is I basically did a run through of Aelin’s life up to Endovier starting at Terrasens diminish. Yeah, Aelin doesn’t have the best life. But these events are what shape her as a character, they outline her loyalty and felt responsibility to her friends, and show what she had to go through. Another thing she carried is the ten years she was with the assassins, she wasn’t doing anything for Terrasen. She was the rightful queen of Terrasen, and felt like for those years she abandoned it, while others fought for it.

if you read to the end I’m surprised but thanks!!! This is my show of how I can’t seriously discuss things, I’m considering doing more of these with the other characters and finish going through the rest of the bad things in Aelin’s life. If you think I should please tell me that in the comments!!

Bryce's first love (theory)

Was thinking about how both Aelin and Feyre had a first relationship that didn't work out, and how Bryce and Hunt are mates now and I just realised.

Connor Holstrom.

He was her first relationship that didn't work out. I mean, yeah, she never actually went out with him- but she'd said yes, hadn't she? I mean, it's been 2 years since I touched HoEaB but I'm pretty sure Bryce and Connor, had he lived, would've had a Aelin/Chaol situation. In love, but weren't right for each other, either.

(For maybe Aelin/Sam is better, in that they might've been something to last, but he was murdered beforehand?)

Make it make sense..

I just don´t understand some e/riels logic.....

Like one day, Azriel is Elains mate because he figured out her power and cleared the murky realm she was in.

Another day he is a good protective boyfriend for saying the whole ´´There is an innate darkness that Elain should not be exposed to´´'and that was previously because she got kidnapped due to her powers.

Another day Lucien is a horrible man for saying ´´good´´ after feyre mentioned there has been no sign of her powers even though he originally asked how she was doing not anything to do with her powers.

Apparently that´s bad behavior because Elain should embrace that power. Although when someone mentions how Elain can get uneasy because of it, they say ´´Well she´s going to be stuck with it forever so its best to embrace it´´

BUT Azriel should forever hide his power because he apparently feels better without it?

One day its ´´The bonus chapter isnt even important because not everybody has access to it!´´

Although another day, the bonus chapter thats so useless reveals lightsinger powers for one of the key people in ACOSF? The optional bonus reveals that a character lured in Azriel and has a dangerous spell on him?!

One day its, oh my gosh forbidden love!

Another day its Elain has a choice and she should not be forced into anything!

But she should be Azriels hidden f-toy? She should be forced to that position even though he isnt ever going to be satisfied with her because he wants a mate?

Or its, Elain does not owe Lucien anything! BUTTTT she deserves to give Azriel her time and hide in the darkness with him and play out his fantasies (only thing he wants) even though he refers to her as ´´The thrid´´. Even though SHE HERSELF gave back the necklace out of her own choice. (something e/riels always disrespect and never notice)

Ugh mates are boring! We want rejected mates!

Or its, E/riel are actually mates because Az can smell the bond.

They are mates because Azriel thought so!

Like Elain is literally a conspiracy theory to Azriel miss maam

Or, Elain made a deal with koschei to be Azriels mate.

Its forbidden love!

No its the whole ´´The boy who never got chosen and the girl who never had the option to chose´´

Elain is the light to Azriels darkness!

Wait no Elain is the light IN the darkness!

(Azriels shadows shy away from light and he trains at night and Elain is a light who needs light and chases away darkness)

Death and life!

(Makes sense because the NC sucks the LIFE from her and obviously death can restore it?)

Elain can´t be highlady of the day court!

Yeah because shes totally going to be High lady of the dusk court with Az..

There is nothing wrong with Elains hobbies! (gardening and baking)

Elains going to be the spymaster of the night court because she keeps secrets about a pregnancy and she will wield a dagger it all times!

She will be the savior of Illyria! (Never trained a day in her life)

Stop trying to change Gwyn for a man and try to say shes a spy (even though she literally was spying in the BR like Az was doing at the same time) However Elain can be a spy because she is foreshadowed to be!

Also Elain is foreshadowed to be taking private lessons with Azriel (Gwyn already does. Canon)\

Luciens gifts to Elain prove that he views her as a breakable docile flower but Azriel basic necklace proves that he sees her for the bada$$ she is? (got that from @lorcanisdabest thought it was funny haha)

Azriel feeling insecure and unworthy of being near Elain because of his TRAUMA means nothing! Elain can fix him! Although Gwynriel isnt happening because they were reminded of Gwyns past (which they were both present for) for a HEARTBEAT WHICH IS LITERALLY 0.8 SECONDS AND THAT MEANS THEY CANT THINK OF ANYTHING OTHER THAN THAT AND THAT´S TOXIC!!!!!!

E/riel are mates because a smile bloomed on Azriels face in regards to Elain.

Although its just normal that a smile bloomed on elain face (AFTER HER DAD DIED WHO SHE WAS CLOSEST to) in regards to Lucien. Like thats just clown sh!t.

Amren said Az was underestimating Elain but we should not take her word for it because it was not Azriels (even though thats the only canon piece of what sjm provided on what Azriel could have been doing) BUT we should take feyres word on Elain and Azriel everytime!

There is so much more crap E/riels say but that would take FOREVER. All im saying is that to make your content consistent. Stick to one plot and make it make sense.

Something i have seen with Eluciens and gwynriels is that we have a solid idea on the romantic part for our ships and it stays consistent.

If Sam Cortland Lived

In this au, I think Sam was still tortured. They never found his body, but Farran confessed to killing him and there was so much blood that nobody except for arobynn thought he survived

Celeana goes to Endovier, and Sam regains his strength in arobynns dungeon. He fights to get stronger so that he can break her out.

He tries, once. And realized he couldn't get to her. He spends literal months coming up with a plan to get her out

But alas, she is called to the champions tournament. He waits a few months to scope out the castle, to get a layout to rescue her

But she's happy. He sees that she has moved on from his 'death' and is flirting with Dorian. He's crushed and doesn't really know what to do with his life

Arobynn sends him on missions still, and is the only person who knows he's still alive. He becomes very depressed. About the time of Heir of Fire, he goes apeshit. He tries to kill Arobynn, and when he fails, he runs. He takes the hell off. His POV in the book is about him surviving and evading Arobynn. But he runs into some valg and we learn more about them in his POV.

Then in queen of shadows, Aelin has fallen for Rowan. The revolution is forming. Literally three days after killing Arobynn, Aelin feels like she's being hunted. She and Sam have a huge fight scene and then she realizes. Nobody else has this skill. Nobody else can tumble like that.

Cue an emotional reunion scene

Sam struggles because he very much still loves her. Aelin struggles because damn, she missed him. But she's moved on.

Sam learns to accept this and move on.

Magic falls and he learns he has powers. He can control the earth itself. Where Aelin is fire, he is earth. He helps take down the castle.

Empire of Storms, he rides with Aelin and the rest of her court into Terrassen, but then when they race to go to skulls Bay, he knows what he needs to do. He has to go to the southern continent and meet up with Nesryn and Chaol

He and Chaol do NOT like each other. They are just too similar.

He just loves the ruk riders! He and Sartaq become good friends. If it wasn't for his home being in Adarlan, he definitely would have stuck around.

When he gets back to Anielle with the others, he has a whole arc with his powers. He swallows half the army with his powers, and then gets gravely injured or something. Like half of KOA, he is unconscious.

I haven't read the other half yet but FEEL FREE TO ADD ON

sam cortland broke my heart.

i just finished assasin's blade and i don't think i can love rowan as much as i love sam right now. like i physically don't think it's possible. i know i'm not even that far into the series, but what is going on.

sam loved her. FOR SO LONG. and maybe their romance may have felt a bit rushed, but the fact that the one thing he asked arobynn for in return for his forgiveness was making sure aelin was never hurt WAS GOLDEN. their interactions had me screaming.

AND sam and aelin had all these plans to move away but of course arobynn with his controlling little self had to meddle. that man is on my hit list now i swear, if he doesn't get killed off soon im going to be very upset.

rowan better be the best to aelin, because im not sure i'm ever getting over sam. i need reassurance that this gets better because i actually started crying.

Do I want him back ? .. .. .. No..

Why ? I DONT WANT HIS HEART BROKEN JUST AS BRUTALLY AS HIS DEATH ! So NO ! 😭

I cannot help but think-

Aelin’s brain and heart were all grown up but her feminine self was a literally the most unstable thing ever.

She went from Sam- to Dorian to chaol to Rowan in a span of 3 years.. WHICH IS FINE ! But the fact that she went from one to another WHILE being stuck on the previous one is more unstable..

Sam died.. no chance or any time to repent or even mourn for his death.. her trauma was overcome by having even bigger of a trauma from Endovier..

then she went to Dorian cause he was the prince saving her in her damsel in distress kind of situation (most non-violent way to describe her condition in Endovier cause it ain’t anywhere near a salt mine or salve camp- it’s just a mass torturing labour intensive capitalism) then she realises OH ! He belongs to a bloodline who butchered and slaughtered my people ! NO ! I SHOULD NOT BE WITH HIM ! At the same time.. ohhh the caption of guard is one brooding male.. I like him !

And after a while of fooling she went ! NO ! NOT YOU ! You are scared of real me ( I am going to ignore all of your red flags and focus on the most highlighted action of yours for breakup! ) and gave him eye of elena, which -

1. He didn’t value

2. He is not worth its value

3. Most undeserving person to ever choose- SHOULDVE GIVEN IT TO FLEETFOOT AS A DAMN DOG COLLAR CAUSE THAT CUTEST MOST FLUFFIEST HOUND ACTUALLY VALUED HER RELATION WITH CELAENA !

And to get over it.. while thinking of him !!! Went …. Ohhh I want rowan…. He is all masculine in all right places …

And finally she realises ROWAN WHITETHORN is her whole and sole mate (fae mate.. or aelin’s mate. Cause SAM CORTLAND was whole and sole mate of Celaena Sardothien!! There is no other pov- talk to fleetfoot’s shit if you decide to say otherwise! ) and she finally settles on a man worth her time, her emotions, and knows how to actually value her whole of being !

All across.. only three men .. Illias, Sam and Rowan were the ones who actually had their motives straight, knew where their priorities lies and did not just started wagging their tails like a dog in a rut the moment Celaena/Aelin was in front of them.. they were manly enough to actually make the effort to get to know her, to accompany her in all the right times and not just barge in, to help up lessen her stress and let loose during right times and most importantly never doubted her or questioned her character..

(I know you all will come and say- ROWAN JUDGED HER CHARACTER AS THE FIRST THING ! But dearest reader.. did you realise that though his actions have no exempt or excuse he did that because Celaena was getting repulsive and was on thread bare of her patience with the amount of times she was faced with the point of proving herself again and again to such great extents ! And was also afraid of being a destructive weapon to people around cause she was well versed with the fact that her power cannot be controlled- now imagine getting asked to do the thing you’ve always dreaded- or being asked to show a phase a persona that you’ve always made sure to lock up in darkest and unreachable part of you!!!)

They genuinely respected her for her being and accepted her for her and did not neglect her parts that they disliked (which were none!!) and literally were ready to sacrifice themselves for her instead of sacrificing her for the pettiest of things (eg: chaol the asshole giving away all of her deepest secrets to aeidon without being confirmed of if he was under the king’s spell or was still faithful to Terrasen just to save himself!! Like man ! You are the caption of a guard ! You are trained to take down tens of people at once and cannot handle a one on one combat with a general who just came from a long journey !? Literally makes me question his title if not his whole being !!)
