🔥 Landscape photography
If you trawl through this blog, you'll notice that I tend towards the arctic, the aeolian, the fluvial, or the igneous; I don't totally ignore things with, like, trees in them, but they're a little on the rare side. It's a style choice, not a hard-and-fast preference. Actually, I really love the Ansel Adams-style sweeping vistas! But what I try to highlight here is the kind of photography that showcases the forces of the world at work, things that make the Earth as much a process as a place.
I spent a lot of time spying on different formations through a satellite, which gave me a (literally) unusual perspective on these things, but I often find myself wishing that there was a longer roster of landscape photographers who were as interested in the deep physical meanings of their subject as they are in the more artistically-relevant interplay of structure and light. There are kinds of beauty that are normally hidden behind a layer or two of abstraction, and there's a type of genius that could make it visible to more people, given some insights and focus. We need that, I think.

Open Your Eyes, Look Up to the Skies and See
On September 6th, 2023 Mercury will make his inferior conjunction with the Sun at 14 degrees Virgo. This transit is otherwise known as Cazimi, translating to “In the Heart of the Sun.” The image given here is one of a messenger entering the throne room of a great monarch.
The Cazimi is a great seed moment. In this cosmic temple beyond the limits of space and time, you may commune with the divine and bear witness to a greater plan for your destiny.
The Cazimi takes place in the second decan of Virgo, which the Picatrix describes as a face of “of desires, and of wealth, of tribute;” while Agrippa describes it as signifying “gain, scraping together of wealth and covetousness.”
Images attributed to this decan commonly depict men in multiple layers of dress, from coarse material to fine garment. Medieval scholar Ibn Ezra depicts a man in three garments, “…one of leather, the second of silk and the third is a red mantle”—while the Picatrix depicts a man “dressed in leather, and over his garment of leather is another garment of iron.”
In his tome 36 Faces, astrologer Austin Coppock reads this symbolism as the spirit enclosing itself “in a dense body here in order to gain control over gross layers of the physical plane and to oversee its process with a keen eye.”
In other words, the second decan of Virgo depicts the distillation of spirit into matter. The Emerald Tablet describes distillation as: “It rises from Earth to Heaven and descends again to Earth, thereby combining within Itself the powers of both the Above and the Below.”
The Great Work of alchemy means making fixed the volatile—or bringing spirit (volatile) into matter (fixed). The quest for the Philosopher’s Stone—that evasive, enigmatic universal panacea that perfects anything it touches—is the long and enduring process of distilling spirit in matter.
With every rise “from Earth to Heaven” and descent back to Earth, the Stone combines “within Itself” the powers of spirit (Above) and matter (Below).
And so the symbolism of the man clad in garments of leather and silk reveals itself to be the combining of “the powers of both the Above and the Below”—leather representing the dense matter of Earth and silk the fine spirit of Heaven.
The second decan of Virgo is attributed to the Nine of Disks in the Minor Arcana of the Tarot. In The Book of Thoth, Aleister Crowley calls this card “Gain” and writes:
“The disks are arranged as an equilateral triangle… This signifies the multiplication of the original established Word—by the establishment of ‘good luck and good management.’”
The “original established Word” can be found in the first chapter of the Gospel of John, which opens with:
“In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.”
But it’s also found in the Corpus Hermeticum, or the holy books of Hermeticism that gave rise to the discipline of alchemy. Its author, the mythic father of alchemy Hermes Trismegistus, describes his vision of creation:
“Out of the light came forth the Holy Word which entered into the watery substance, and pure fire leapt from the watery substance and rose up; the fire was insubstantial, piercing and active.”
This ‘Holy Word’ is the logos, a Greek word meaning ‘word,’ ‘speech,’ ‘reason,’ or ‘discourse.’ It means the divine word of creation or a discourse with the divine mind of the Creator. The Pre-Socratic philosopher Heraclitus defined the logos as an “ever-living fire” whose incessant transformations are at the heart of the cycle of life and death.
So at Mercury’s inferior conjunction in the second decan of Virgo, you have the opportunity to open your eyes, look up to the skies and see the divine spark in all of creation—to hear the inward thought and outward speech of the divine whose spirit shines within material existence.
To aid in this undertaking, it’s advised that you embark upon a directed mythological study and magical practice. As Caton writes, “To keep the passages between worlds open, and our basic self and non-rational worlds integrated, we should dedicate at least one of these three periods each year to taking a conscious descent into the worlds of magic and myth.”

I CRY ALOUD TO GOD, ALOUD TO GOD, THAT HE MAY HEAR ME (Ps. 77:1)
20, November 2023, Monday of week 33 in Ordinary Time
We are in a noisy and fasts moving world. With the arrival of modern technologies, we are at fast pace. We want to reach somewhere, achieve something, even at the cost of others. In this process we often ignore our inner voice, may be crying out for something urgent and important. In this process of achievements, the surroundings, chirping of the birds, aeolian tone of the wind around you, pattering of the rain, cry of a baby, wailing of a woman, sorrows and grief of the sick and old persons are no more meaningful for us. We ignore, we reject, we overshadow them.
During Jesus’ time, beggars often waited along the road near cities, because these are the places, they were able to contact the most people. Usually disabled in some way, beggars were unable to earn a living. Medical help was no available for their problems, and people tended to ignore their obligation to care for the needy (Leviticus 25:35-38). Thus, beggar had little hope of escaping their degrading way of life. But this blind beggar took hope in the Messiah. He shamelessly cried out for Jesus’ attention, and Jesus said that his faith allowed him to see.
The blind man called Jesus “Son of David,” a title for the Massiah (Isaiah 11:1-3). This means that he understood Jesus to be the long-awaited Messiah. A poor and blind beggar could see that Jesus was the Messiah, while the religious leaders who saw his miracles were blinded to his identity and refused to recognize his as the Messiah, because they we were moving towards a glorious messiah.
What is the familiar name of Jesus to you?
Do you ignore or suppress your inner voice?
Are you ashamed of calling out Jesus?
PRAYER:
Jesus, Son of David, have mercy on me a sinner.

javelaine/javelaid -in which ones masculinity and femininity is inherently tied to their queerness and vice versa. both shape and complete eachother. may refer to presentation, gender, or any other form of masculinity and femininity. one does not need to be considered fully masculine and/or feminine to use it -in other words, a mix between tridaine and archaine
my thought process -i chose javelins because i saw them as a cross between an arrow and a trident, seeing as it can be used as a ranged weapon like a bow and arrow and is spearlike, like a trident -thing i just looked up right now: apparently cephalus, an aeolian prince, used a javelin
both tridaine and archaine were coined by @kenochoric

Bolivian Salt Flats
An astronaut aboard the International Space Station captured this photograph of Salar de Coipasa and neighboring Salar de Uyuni in the Bolivian Andes. Visible from low Earth orbit, the salt flats display stark white hues that contrast with the darker surrounding rock. Various volcanic cones are scattered through the image, such as Cerro Tetivilla, which divides the two salt lakes; Wila Pukarani, located within the Coipasa Salt Flat; and Paryani, on the northern edge of Coipasa.
In recent years, Andean salt flats have been the subject of climate and space-based analog studies, serving as a proxy for Earth’s climate history and the Martian environment. Salt textures tell the story of the landscape’s climatic and geologic history, while saltwater brines and hydrated clays beneath the salt crust are of interest to both Earth and Mars scientists.
For Earth climate researchers, salts are markers of previous paleoenvironments. Layers that contain mostly halite (NaCl) and gypsum (CaSO4)—dry salts that are often used for mining and agriculture—represent periods of dryness on the South American continent. Layers that are more mud-like in consistency, and include organic material and microfossils, represent wet periods.
For Mars researchers, Uyuni and Coipasa are natural laboratories for studying the Martian environment. Uyuni’s brines and clays are comparable to Martian brines and clays and provide insight into fluvial and aeolian processes on Mars. Uyuni’s geology and geochemistry can be seen as analogous toAureum Chaos—a large basin on the Martian surface.
Astronaut photograph ISS067-E-36221 was acquired on May 7, 2022, with a Nikon D5 digital camera using a focal length of 140 millimeters. It is provided by the ISS Crew Earth Observations Facility and the Earth Science and Remote Sensing Unit, Johnson Space Center. The image was taken by a member of the Expedition 67 crew. The image has been cropped and enhanced to improve contrast, and lens artifacts have been removed. The International Space Station Program supports the laboratory as part of the ISS National Lab to help astronauts take pictures of Earth that will be of the greatest value to scientists and the public, and to make those images freely available on the Internet. Additional images taken by astronauts and cosmonauts can be viewed at the NASA/JSC Gateway to Astronaut Photography of Earth. Caption Amber Turner, JETS Contract at NASA-JSC.

or possibly an account description with some choice quotes from Bagnold (1936), then perhaps I would have followed you in the hope of commentary on desertification processes, or images of particularly nice aeolian landforms in the arid parts of the world. But you didn't follow through, so into the block bin with you.

Devotional Hours Within the Bible
Tumblr media
by J.R. Miller
The Holy Spirit Given (Acts 2:1-13)
This is the story of the beginning of the Christian Church. It was fifty days after the death of Christ. It did not occur at a convention - it was not an earth-born organization that was effected that day - it was heaven - born. When Jesus ascended, He sent His disciples to prayer, continuous prayer. The prayer was for a definite object. A promise had been given to them - but they were to get it by prayer, persevering, believing prayer. Ten days had passed, and here is what is said about the disciples, "They were all together in one place." This was an ideal meeting. For one thing they were all there - the ministers and the women and the men, too. At some prayer meetings there are many women - but very few men.
All the friends of Christ living in Jerusalem, were present at this meeting. None excused themselves, because they had other things to do. The interest was so deep, that nobody thought of remaining away from a single meeting. This is now the tenth day of the meetings - and yet no one had grown weary. What a loss to the person it would have been if anyone had stayed at home the day the Spirit came! People who miss even one meeting, do not know what blessing may come that day which they will lose. Thomas was absent from a meeting one evening, and we know what he missed. Jesus came that night, and for a whole week Thomas was unhappy and lived in doubt. If anyone had been absent on this day of Pentecost, he would have missed a great blessing.
We must notice, too, that these people all came promptly. A long while after the meeting began, Peter said it was only nine in the morning. They must, therefore, have met at daybreak, at the latest - and yet they were all there. That was another good point - promptness and punctuality. They were also there with one accord. They were all of one mind. There was no discord among them. They had one purpose. Their hearts made music, and God heard the music in heaven. There is another thing about their praying - it was importunate. The meetings had continued now ten days - but none of them had wearied. All these points we should treasure up, so that we may pray in the same way.
The breath of God was breathed upon the waiting company. Breath means spirit. The night after the resurrection, in the upper room, Jesus breathed upon His disciples and said, "Receive the Holy Spirit." On the day of Pentecost they heard a sound like the wind. It was not a wind - it was the breathing of God. Until the wind of God blows upon our hearts and lives there is no divine blessing for us. Hiss Havergal tells of receiving once from a friend a gift of an Aeolian harp. She did not know how to use the harp to make music on it. She tried picking and thrumming its strings - but there was no music produced by this process. Then she looked over the friend's letter that had come with the harp, and leaned how to use it.
"Raise your window," the instructions ran," and put it under the sash, that the wind may blow over the wires." Then the room was filled with gentle strains. The only way to get the music from these lives of ours, is to have the wind of God blow upon them.
First the wind, then the fire - both symbols of God - and then they were all filled with the Holy Spirit. Here we see the blessing of importunity and persistence. If they had ceased praying any time before the tenth day the blessing would not have come. No doubt many of our prayer fail to be answered, because we grow weary and give up too soon.
We talk a great deal about submitting to God's will in praying. That is right - but we may be altogether too submissive. It is God's will offtimes that we should not cease to cry to Him. He wants us to be importunate, to press our request, to pray, and not faint. It was a wonderful answer that came that day - they were all filled with the Holy Spirit. They were filled; not a little measure of the divine blessing was granted - but all they could receive. God will give us all we have room for, of His grace and love. The reason some have more blessing than others, is because they make more room in their hearts than others do for the blessing.
They boy who has his pockets full of nails and marbles, when his mother tells him to take all the cakes his pockets will hold, does not get many cakes. Just so, people whose hearts are full of this world, get but a small measure of the Spirit in their praying. It was the Holy Spirit that was given to these first disciples so richly; it was not mere good feeling - but warm emotion, not fresh enthusiasm, not a good influence - but the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit is God - it was Himself that God gave them. He came down to live in the, not with them only - but in them. So this was the same blessing we may receive - if we will only ask for it.
We all like to have visits from pleasant friends. Here is a Friend, the most pleasant, the most tender, the most helpful Friend in this world. He will come to visit us if only we ask Him, if we really want Him to come. He will come, not to make a short stay of an hour or a day - but to remain always as our guest; not merely in our house - but in our heart.
The effect of being filled with God was seen at once. "They … began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance." It was very important, then that the disciples be able talk to the crowds of foreigners on the streets in their own languages. They were to be missionaries, and they could not tell these strangers about Christ unless they knew their language. This miracle of tongues made them ready at once for their work. When our missionaries go to heathen lands the first thing they must do is to learn the language of those to whom they would tell the story of Christ. This takes a long time. On the day of Pentecost the foreigners from all countries were right there, and there was no time for the disciples to learn the different languages in the ordinary way; so God taught them at once how to preach in different languages. The Spirit does not give this same power to Christians in these days. You will not be able, without any study, to speak German, or Spanish, or French the moment you are converted.
But there is a sense in which the Spirit gives every new convert a new tongue. A Christian has a new speech. The tongue that once spoke lies - speaks truth now. The tongue that once spoke bitter words - utters now only kind, loving words. So we do get new tongues when we receive the Holy Spirit. If a boy or a man swears or lies and speaks bad words, or gets cross and utters angry words - we know that he still has his old tongue and has not yet gotten a new one. But when he has the language of love, of praise, of prayer - we know that he is under a new power, the power of God.
"Every man heard them speaking in his own language." This was a token that the gospel of Christ should be preached in that language. In a certain sense this was fulfilled in a far more glorious sense, for the Bible has been translated into nearly every important language of the world, and is sent to every nation, so that the people of all lands may literally hear the gospel and the wonderful works of God in their own tongue.
That was a wonderful day. No matter from what country a man in the throngs on the streets had come, there was someone to tell him of Jesus Christ and His love, and of the great redemption offered now to all the world. "How is it that each of us hears them in his own native language? … They were all amazed, and were perplexed." No wonder they were amazed. It was really a wonderful thing that had happened. Indeed, everything about redemption is wonderful. The sending of Jesus Christ, God's Son, to be born as a little babe and to live a human life, was wonderful. The dying of Christ on the cross was wonderful. Then the coming of the Holy Spirit was wonderful.
Yet there are many people who find more to interest and amaze them in bits of shells or stones or minerals, or in birds or ants or beetles, than in the gospel. They think the subject of redemption a matter suited only to Sunday-school children, ignorant people, and sick folks; while they find subjects suited to great minds in the fields of the sciences and philosophies. How little earth's wise people know of the wonderful treasures of wisdom hidden in the gospel!
We are told in a later verse that some of the people mocked. There are always some people who will scoff and ridicule every extraordinary manifestation of God's grace. When Jesus performed great miracles, they said He was in league with Beelzebub's power. Festus pronounced Paul mad when he saw his great zeal and earnestness in Christ's service. These scoffing beholders accounted for the wonderful things they saw the disciples doing, by saying that they were drunk. The same kinds of scoffing are heard in modern days when a great work of grace is going on anywhere. There are always some who mock.

Hello! I would like to participate in your game. I choose 005: future spouse's first impression of me in their own words.
My initials are TM and my favourite placement is Capricorn Venus.
I would like to know what they would first notice physically about me,what their impression would be of my aura, how they would feel when they would see me for the first time, what are their thoughts, like do they wanna date me or do I intimidate them? Am I their ideal type or not. Or fit their image of their ideal type.
Exchange for you(I'm doing this in their pov)
I think you would intrigue them. This is my first time in your blog. But I feel an intimidation. Um,your jawline, they sort of think of Princess Aeolian. Their first thoughts would be just to: stare. You may have dark features or have dark gaze. They think you are someone who are approachable, and they would approach you later, but initially they would think that you're reserved though you may have a warm energy to yourself. Your aura would be a bit like a healer/motherly. I also saw nature. So it can be that that you have a nature spirit. Your future spouse would like your lips. Do you wear red lips a lot? Cause I see them seeing or looking at your red lips a lot. You would fit their ideal type. Ngl,they would've had given up on dating, but you would change their mind. They might not be in the game of dating . But seeing you, they would be like "Are you for real?" They wouldn't believe it. Like they would be stunned. And they would immediately want a relationship with you. Like I think they're good looking and they know they have a good personality so they would be confident about approaching you. They are confident. They would wanna have long term relationship with you, cause even on first impression, you would have their heart. Something about you would just make them feel like "you're the one". Your lips, like damn I saw it a lot. I think they would really find you attractive but someone who's reserved.
Hope it resonates. Thank you so much🙏🙏
[TWENTY TWO]
Hello @roseymess ! <3 thankyou for joining my game + the amazing exchange and apologies for the delay.
Feedback - I do have dark features so that's certainly correct, about the rest part, I have got similar readings and honestly, all of this is lowkey flattering xD. I don't wear red lipstick yet, I don't wear lipsticks at all as of now but I were to pick a lipstick shade for myself, it would be red 1000% lol. Anyways, I think this resonates because I literally got told about the scenario you explained alot. Thankyou!
Also, I'll try my best to channel the answers of your questions within the format :)

♡ Cards Pulled : King of Pentacles, 8 of cups rx, 3 of wands, 6 of pentacles and the moon rx
My first impression of you was easy to register but comparatively difficult to process. When I saw you for the first time, I probably thought 'cool'. You looked okay, you looked like how any other student of our age would look during a busy day. A bit too tired perhaps but then again, it's understandable. You looked like you had enough that day, you were absolutely done with all nonsense that day had to offer, it seemed. You weren't fuming with rage or being expressively angry but looking at you told me that maybe you had a rough day. I was quite impressed tbh, you seemed quite hardworking and diligent. And you were completely different when your friends were around, you were more caring, generous and outgoing during those moments. A more fun side of you came out when you were around people, you still held onto your individuality but you seemed more relaxed and cheerful. I realised that maybe you could be the type of a person who don't really mingle with everyone or get close with everyone but when you do with someone, you give in your 100% to that person and the relationship you share with them. Your aura came across as protective, especially protective about the people you're closed to. It was the kind of an aura that'd belong to a person who's sweet and polite but at the same time would cut you in pieces if you cross them. You didn't intimidate me honestly, I thought you were interesting rather. I noticed Perhaps you weren't a big fan of showing your emotions, but your actions were a way to convey them regardless. My first impression of you would be a badass woman with a soft heart in nutshell, love.
[about the ideal type thing, I honestly don't think he has an ideal type really or maybe, he doesn't want to put you into a box with certain characteristics that he'd want in his Fs just by looking at you/barely knowing you]
Please leave a feedback in the comments!
