Hi! This is a big ol' thank-you post for all of the lovely creators who helped me out on my anthropology final last semester <3 They were all kind enough to fill out a nearly 50 question interview for my ethnography on MLP ask blog culture.

Also, just a side note, I will not be posting again until February 16th, since that's my blog-iversary. Hoping to hit 400 followers by then, and I'm super close, so any support helps!

For day 2 and 3 I did @unlocktheaskblog’s WonderFlag and @aerialaim’s Aerial!

For Aerial I didn’t change much, honestly I just can’t see anything that I’d truly change outside of these few changes! Aerial’s design just works so well in her story. What I did do however was to change up the eyes a wee bit (cuz I like green) and to add some darker gradients and freckles- I also changed the coat color to off white because I personally don’t like using pure whites.

As for WonderFlag however- I interpreted her as less of a flag based horse and more so an America cased horse. I still kept her hair blue but added a bit of old fashion-ness to her by bringing it back to a more 50s style hair as well as added the first American flag as her bandana. I wanted to keep her pretty but tough as well which is why I didn’t add big lashes. I gave her a pink muzzle and an off white coat as well as some eyeshadow just to bring more red into her design. finally my favorite part was giving her a bandana I already own which is a bandana with the POW MIA symbol all over it. I wanted to make it seem at first glance that this character represents American history- the good the bad and the ugly.

Also it’s literally no secret at this point that I’m stuck in the 60s and 70s rn

((I was adamant back in the day for my blog to be popular by my own merit and not bc I was being a sycophant to major blogs. Took way longer, but everything I achieved was by my own work, which I can say I'm at least proud off, even though I'm a little bitter about it as well //wheeze))

#like a lot of blogs would draw faux fan art just to get reblogged by the major MLP ask blogs back then #I didn't want to use that tactic bc it's disingenuous #and if these blogs found out that they were being used like that it would hurt their feelings #people didn't interact with them bc they liked them but because of the attention it would give them in return #it's kinda why I don't do RP questions bc most aren't asking bc they like the blog they just want free art #aerial aim #aerialaim

Extra thoughts below the break!

Goodness, this is quite the different post, and quite a fun thing to make!

Usual pieces are still being planned for the future, but I thought this would be a neat thing to try and do to. I cannot say for exact certainly that I will continue to answer questions exactly like this, but who knows!

Due to all of the many different colours appearing on the images, and the amount of panels, i decided to make the images smaller, as well as refrain from adding any textures, as I am fairly certain that could make the image quality more difficult to see.

Weirdly, the thing which took the longest were the words - I am not familiar enough with the likes of FontForge to create an adequate font, so I had to make do by making them individually, haha.

As always, thoughts are welcomed. Although, given this is a question about favourite things to draw and favourite cartoons, I’m curious to know what others favourites are, too! Cheers!

Day 27: Job Swap

I gave @aerialaim a more peaceful job as a florist. I'm not sure what it is about her that makes me think that, but I also think it'd be cute if she constantly gave Flux flowers when he comes back from his Shadow Bolts work stuff. :3
