“Zava sees someone who overthinks, trapped in his head with other people’s expectations,” the thing is, Zava’s not wrong. Ever since he’d shaken loose his father’s shackles, he did overthink, hesitant and conflicted, between what had literally been beaten into him and what he knew was right, and what he thought others wanted from him. And that did leave him stuck in his head at times, so much that he needed someone else, like Roy, to drag him out of it. “And Zava hears that the Great Jamie Tartt allowed his father into the locker room, allowed himself to be bullied -”

“Oi,” Isaac snaps, suddenly in between Jamie and Zava, hand on Zava’s chest, not quite pushing, but ready to. Sam and the others start to stand. Jan Mass takes a step closer as Dani looks on, wide-eyed and hurt, as though the last dregs of his idol were disintegrating in front of his eyes. “That’s a bit fucking personal, mate. You’re going too far.”

Warning: Zava is a cruel and nasty as well as an egotistical football wunder-star. There is also gaslighting of a character in regards to previous abuse.

Imagine I had the attention span to write this S1 AU where the paparazzi incident (not Keeley finding out it was her, but way back at the incident itself) is Rebecca's wake-up call re: fucking over the team.

"I want to rebrand the club,” she tells Keeley the next day. “Every other television programme these days is about a group of doctors or detectives or firefighters or whatnot who operate as a family. Every damn sports movie is about winning because they're not just a team. I want that for Richmond. I want their friendships plastered all over social media. I want to fill those seats with women who don’t give a flying fuck about football who just want to see the boys interact. And if I can imply that Rupert was a bad team dad along the way, I consider that an absolutely luscious cherry on top.”

Keeley seems to be… broken, just staring at her, mouth gaping open like a fish.  It's not the amusement or glee that Rebecca had expected, and she suddenly feels uncertain.

"Am I crazy?" she asks.  "Is this a stupid idea?"

"Fuck no!” Keeley bursts out. “I mean yes, it’s fucking insane, who does that? But do you have any idea what kind of presence the Roy/Jamie shippers already have on Tumblr and AO3?"

Rebecca does not know what any of those things are, and she decidedly does not want to ask, but based on Keeley's excited bouncing and wide grin, they all add up to something promising.

hellooooo my lovelies! as you can probably tell from the relentless posting recently, i have been overcome with ted lasso brainrot so i wrote a 12k fic to process my Emotions (as one does). i thought i'd link it here because as much as i AM a writer bc i love the writing, i am also human and external validation is never a bad thing <3

It's Jamie's idea, which concerns everyone on multiple levels.

"Don't see why," says Jamie, looking mulish about it. He's got his stupid ICON cap on backwards, a pink tie-dye sweatshirt on over what Isaac's pretty sure's a pair of denim overalls. "I got good ideas, sometimes."

"Aye!" says Dani. "Like the time you told me we should tie our shoelaces together to practice running up and down the pitch. That was a good idea, until we faceplanted and had to get stitches."

The lads murmur in agreement. Jamie says, "Yeah, it were the stitches that got us, weren't it," as though that was the problem with that particular idea.

I'm being Tumblr-normal about media and rewatching all the Jamie bits of Ted Lasso, and like

I'm struck by the fact that when he gets himself in 3.7 he sounds confused at best, disappointed at worst

Cause like. You could see the coaches giving him his own name as a way to say it's okay to be him (which, given the past relationships between Jamie and the team, could be justified)

But then it's "figured you'd want to stay at your normal position". Translation: "we thought at best you weren't going to be happy to do the exercise with the team" which like

I want to say they've missed most of Jamie's growth (and they have! He's far from the guy we met in S1!) but also they're just being...bad coaches? Jamie was with Manchester when they introduced total football, meaning he's the only player here with experience with that style play, and they're essentially benching him from the exercise oO

Like. No wonder he's the only one doing total football right against Arsenal, and no wonder he can get it through to his teammates

Question is: what if he'd had an opportunity to explain that before the match?

Update

So, I just wanted to give my readers who enjoyed A Hole In The Heart , a little heads up - I will be doing a companion piece to this, likely after I have updated my other Jamie fics and some of my ST fics (or sooner if the vibe feels right).

It wont be a sequel, but different exploration of Jamie and his relationship with his mum (and by that, I mean there will be angst, tragedy and a lot of Roy and Ted comfort) and a comparison with Jamie's relationship with his dad.

All I will say for now, is that this is heavily influenced by my two recent trips to Norfolk, Jamie gets sad, Roy, Ted and and the lads get worried, and there will be seals.
