President Zik & Teck-Zilla : “ Prezzy Bomaye”

“ Prezzy Bomaye” is the lead single from rapper President Zik aka Young Prezzy and producer/DJ Teck-Zilla’s forthcoming collaborative project entitled Mike & Muhammad. 

Bolstered by Teck-Zilla’s lush synth-driven trap soundscape, President Zik steps into the proverbial ring with verbal punches and a smooth demeanour to match. The anthemic single serves as an opening salvo with lines like     

“Show up to the fight dressed in mink like nigga what you think straight styling/

trill right off the bat, homies out here selling cap, how’d I get to where I’m at, straight grinding”  which set the tone for the lyrical match. Young Prezzy flows seamlessly like a young but seasoned verbal pugilist taking his opponent to the cleaners with the statement “read a book nigga maybe we could conversate

you can feel the aura when I’m stepping out the gate/ 10 seasons straight are you not entertained going down with the greats on that Prezzy Bomaye” where he reminds listeners of his decade grind in the music game. The fun doesn’t end there and Prezzy shows us his songwriting dexterity with a melody-tinged hook where he paints a vivid picture of him stepping into the ring, making headlines while the fans chant “Prezzy Bomaye”.

“ Prezzy Bomaye” is taken from President Zik and Teck-Zilla’s forthcoming project Mike & Muhammad, a 12-track body of work that bridges the old and the new. On the production side, Teck-Zilla crafts a blend of modern-day trap and boom-bap soundscapes for President Zik who proceeds to wreak havoc with his distinct laidback flow and off-kilter rap schemes. The rapper and producer combo is akin to a young Mike Tyson and elderstates man Muhammad Ali who have teamed up to give fans the raw, unfiltered showcase that would linger in the minds of listeners.

Un "Regalo" in arrivo a fine marzo

Willy Vi torna a far cantare e ballare Milano con “Regalo”, la sua ultima fatica musicale in uscita il 31 marzo.

Nomen omen, perché il brano è un regalo da Willy per il proprio pubblico, attivo soprattutto sui social media, e, in un certo senso, un regalo al panorama musicale italiano, portando un po’ di aria fresca e novità.

Per un cuore tenero come Willy, il tema non può che essere l’amore (“come sempre”, dice Willy sorridendo): il brano parla di una relazione in modo chiaro e diretto. Il regalo è, in fondo, un gesto d’affetto verso il proprio compagno; e lo è in modo essenziale, perché in una relazione, nonostante le cose non vadano bene, c’è un continuo donare amore in modo incondizionato.

“Regalo” parla di una coppia, ed è cantata da una coppia (nella musica, non nella vita, ndr): la dolce metà musicale di Willy è Francy, all’anagrafe Francesca Calocero, giovane promessa delle sette note e nuova leva del cantautorato italiano. Dopo aver studiato canto sin dalla tenera età, ha interrotto gli studi canori per dedicarsi alla scrittura di canzoni.

Ha partecipato a un famoso talent show, ma non vuole raccontarci quale (non si capisce se per timidezza o per incuriosirci ancora di più!, ndr). Per lei fare musica significa sfogarsi, comunicare agli altri delle emozioni.

Metà del lavoro sulla canzone è stato fatto al One Take Studio, sotto la supervisione creativa del produttore Mas Production, mentre l’altra metà al Tdlab, sfruttando il talento del produttore multiplatino Yazee. Il brano unisce chitarrine “da spiaggia” con ritmiche drill e bassi pesanti: nonostante i bassoni e le ritmiche sincopate, la canzone rimanda allo stile fresco ed estivo della afrotrap: è la r’n’b drill, o r’n’drill, o drill’n’b, che dir si voglia: la fusione di rhythm and blues e drill.

Willy ci racconta della sua nuova canzone giocando coi controsensi: “se l'amore non può esistere, a nessun regalo puoi resistere”; Francy, invece, si affida a ciò che potrebbe essere accademicamente definito come pragmatismo emozionale: “ogni emozione e sentimento va vissuto come un regalo”.

Il brano vede la partecipazione di Key Records in collaborazione con Altafonte Italia per la distribuzione digitale.
