"Depression #1"
There is an emptiness that will never be filled,
Not the deepest oceans nor the hottest suns nor the densest forests nor the driest sands,
Not the finest diamonds and opals nor the hardest steel and copper nor the shiniest gold and silver,
Not the softest skin nor the sweetest voice nor the roughest thrust
Can enter this space
And the emptiness it waxes and wanes, ebbs and flows without paying me much mind,
Not the saltiest tears nor the roundest fists nor the loudest screams,
Not the angriest storms nor the darkest skies nor the brightest lightning,
Not the busiest rooms nor the grandest cathedrals nor the holiest of angels,
Can alter this space
This emptiness is with me and will define me till my end,
Not the freshest morning wind nor the calmest blue sky or the whitest clouds,
Not the youngest fowls nor the quickest hawks nor the smallest bees,
Not the tallest sunflower fields nor the juiciest strawberries nor the greenest mosses
Can control this space.
