Found this pic of me when I got Emily for my birthday 💗 She was the last doll I received as a kid. I really connected with Emily because I was half English and always felt like I didn’t fit in and connect anywhere. So it was nice to see a character who also felt a bit at odds with American kids.
I’ve said this before but in high school I sold off my collection of AG stuff to pay for a theater camp. But also because I felt a weird pressure and judgement for still having my dolls. Both from my parents and from friends. Like “you’re almost an adult why would you keep this”. So I got rid of them to “grow up”. It was such a huge mistake to get rid of my childhood dolls and I will bitterly regret selling them forever. I may get a new Kit- but it won’t be MY Kit, ya know?
Anywho when I started to get back into AG I got really sad thinking about this concept. One day I was digging in the back of my little brother’s closet for something- and there she was. My sweet Emily. Somehow she didn’t get sold. I still don’t know how. But I’m so happy and grateful I have her. She is so precious to me as the last surviving piece of my childhood collection and the link from my old one to my new girls.
If AG really wants to capitalize on nostalgia the way they seem to want to with the bag collab, they could I don’t know have made more of the 35th anniversary dolls, or even just had the other 3 of the original 6 available at all, or even just had the books of their retired dolls available at all 🙄
Julie Albright's parents recently divorced and she moved to a different part of San Francisco, where she's attending a new school and can only see her dad and best friend Ivy on the weekends. Her biggest passion is basketball so when she's told that the school's team is for boys only, she fights back, stating that Title IX gives girls the right to play. Whether it's petitioning for gender equality in sports, protecting endangered species or running for student body president, Julie learns that the best way to deal with the changes you can't control is to make positive changes of your own.
17 items total: 13 CAS/4 BB.
Merged files for CAS, BB and all plus sub-folder for individual files.
Most of the items in this set are BGC but the basketball requires City Living.
The casual pants are not compatible with boots that go higher than mid-calf, but work with shorter boots and other shoe types. They also don't work with shorter tops or ones that tuck. The meet jeans do not work with socks.
Done in the American Girl palette with extra neutral swatches.

The thermos mesh is by @imadako. The birthday dress uses the mesh from @peebsplays Caroline holiday dress and lace texture from the Josefina meet outfit. Meshes are included in each package. Thanks also to @cmoonsims for making my previews and testing! Credit for the Julie logo in the thumbnails goes to American Girl. *Read under the cut for WCIF extra preview items.*
Recolors and meshes are great, but please link back to me and don't upload behind a paywall. Feel free to tag me if you use them, I'd love to see!
I wasn’t as enchanted with Felicity’s stories as I was with Addy’s — but I’m glad to have now read them! I remember horses being like, a big deal in the ‘90s. Hello young folk, please tell me, a grizzled old woman, are horses still cool? 🐎
I will be sharing your stories near the end of September as a way to celebrate @americangirlbrand’s 35th anniversary. If you grew up loving American Girls, if you dressed up as an AG for Halloween, if you have a AG-related story, can you send it to me? Email me at jillianschoettle (at) gmail (dot) com or DM me! And if Felicity wasn’t your girl, I’m reading Molly next!
Ok I need to talk about the RIDICULOUS PRICE DISPARITY IN THE AMERICAN GIRL RESALE COMMUNITY.
Here’s the thing. For something like Kirsten’s baking outfit, or a EUC Sonali doll- I understand why the prices are high. They are rare items and the supply and demand has made it so these pieces are insanely expensive. I get it.
What I do not understand is the people who are charging $100 for a common outfit that’s been around for over 20 years such as Addy’s summer outfit or Felicity’s spring gown. I understand that there are people who pay this much for these outfits- but all I can ask is why?? Like it’s not like these outfits are rare. You can find them for cheaper if you look and are patient. You are literally being upcharged for $50 if you pay that much. Ridiculous tbh.
The other annoyance is the delusional sellers who ask $200 for a beat up PC Molly doll with cut hair. Like bruh. I just know they read that stupid article about “your American girl doll is now worth hundreds!1!” And now think it actually is worth crazy amounts of money since some other delusional person listed a Samantha doll for 800 on eBay (but it doesn’t mean it sold it just means it was listed for that much UGH.
I just don’t understand. Do people not check the sold portion of eBay to see how prices are?
Nelllie O'Malley grew up poor in New York City, working in a factory from a young age. Her parents decide to send her upstate as a domestic servant to improve her health. In her new position she meets Samantha Parkington, who refuses to let class boundaries get in the way of friendship. When Nellie and her sisters find themselves orphaned and threatened to be split up, Samantha's family takes them in. Nellie appreciates the opportunities she now has, but she would choose the practical over the frivolous any day.
The dress comes in @serindipitysims Scientist palette. Light swatches are going to be more shiny than medium and dark ones. The ruffle is only on the front of the dress to minimize clipping. There will still be a little at the shoulders.
The hat is in the same swatches as the sash on the dress. Originally I wanted to add transparency but that didn't look the way I envisioned. At least this way it will work for more people. Slider compatible.
The pajamas and slippers also come in Scientist, with the extra canon swatch. It involved a lot of mesh-mirroring so hopefully I took care of at least most of the little gaps.
At first I considered including the Celtic cross necklace, but the ruffle makes the dress not necklace compatible.

I think of all the things that have been written about me that I am an inhuman female demon, that I am innocent victim of a blackguard, forced against my will and in danger of my own life, that I was too ignorant to know how to act and that to hang me would be judicial murder, that I am well and decently dressed, that I robbed a dead woman to appear so, that I am of a sullen disposition with a quarrelsome temper, that I have the appearance of a person rather above my humble station, that I am a good girl with a pliable nature and no harm is told of me, that I am cunning and devious, that I am soft in the head and little better than an idiot. And I wonder, how can I be all these different things at once?
