I really need people to understand that they didn’t not listen to Cassandra because she was a woman she was quite literally cursed. Like Apollo got all pissy over something (varies from version to version yknow mythology stuff) like the gods tend to do and cursed her so that she could tell the future but no one would believe her. It was not because she was a woman like I’m begging you if you’re talking about people not listening to women talk about anybody else-

No, but I recently realised I’m usually subconsciously rooting for the Trojans in Trojan war stories even though like both sides kinda suck. However when I started thinking of why, I realised something.
The Trojan war happens because Priam and Hecabe couldn’t bring themselves to kill baby Paris (or even adult Paris when he comes back), the Greeks on the other hand only get to Troy in the first place because Agamemnon does kill Iphigenia (and then they also kill Hector’s baby son 10 years later for good measure). And like this comparison is really interesting to me, and especially because the story is usually told from the viewpoint of the Greeks

i've made a custom 'mech chassis called the Agamemmnon, and originally that was a misspelling but i've decided it's an in-universe misspelling, itself an accident but it made trademarking the thing easier

OMG I need to hear more about John and Delenn as divorced spy-rents!
John and Delenn met while working undercover on the same case. Neither of their covers were blown and the attraction was so intense they continued to date after the case (albeit with their covers). After a really bad case, John wants something normal in his life (the irony) and proposes to Delenn. They marry and have three children.
They divorce when David is 18. Too many late nights, too many 'business' trips away from home. Too many secrets and possibilities for their love to get hurt. There is only so much phone sex and apology flowers (and oranges) can do for a marriage. They agree to alternate the house so the kids don't have to move - which works for them, as they can be on assignment the other week.
David is recruited into the Anla'Shok, the Minbari spy service, first. He is given the code name White Star, alongside his mother's Entil'Zha, They work a few cases together, as mother and son. David urges his mother to tell John initially - but after a case where his childhood sweetheart, Sofie Ivanova, is nearly killed, realises that their worlds can never really crossover.
Della is recruited soon after she turns eighteen and 'Lexington' is just as stubborn and troublesome as 'Agamemmnon'. She is often paired with Sofie, also a spy, and John has his hands full keeping both alive. He dates a little after the divorce - but mostly pines for his wife.
Seven years after the divorce, John is paired with a Minbari spy on a case. He remembers Entil'Zha from his younger days: they exchanged barbs, bullets and even a kiss at a masquerade party. He always nursed a professional crush on her - Della hopes he might be able to move on with someone who can understand his life as a spy.
The Sheridan Spy Family Reunion happens at 9am in the bullpen.

Agamemmnon is a fool really he is greedy and selfish but is also caring for family likel his brother the whole reason he is leading and fighting this war is for his brother to win back Helen.
And yet Agamemmnons selfishness dooms him and his army he insults Achilles for what? Pride? Greed? His want for glory like all Greeks got the best of him and made him forget who was truly the strongest and best of the Greeks at rhe time. He forget that Achilles destroyed whole towns with lone effort and still allowed Agamenmon to take most of the spoils. Achilles was wanting glory while possibly Agamenmon wanted possession and glory which was to much which bit him in the ass.

The transatlantic submarine cable
The transatlantic submarine cable was the brainchild of Massachsetts merchant and financier Cyrus W. Field. He first proposed the laying of a telegraph cable along the bottom of the North Atlantic Ocean between Ireland and Newfoundland. The first attempt to lay the cable with help of HMS Agamemmnon took place in 1857 and 1858. It was possible to draw on good experience with coastal cables; however, the cable laid across the Atlantic became unusable after a few weeks of operation because DC's Whitehouse used excessively high voltages during operation. It is suspected that the cable would not have had a long service life due to insulation problems inherent in the manufacture and handling of the cable.

Ten years later, however, better insulated cables were available that achieved a much longer service life. So-called coiled lines in the form of submarine cables were used. In 1865, a new transatlantic line was laid by the steamship Great Eastern; but the cable broke 600 miles off the coast of Newfoundland and could not be recovered. Between 13 and 27 July 1866, another cable was laid by the Great Eastern and put into service the following 28 July 1866.

For strenght and water resistance, the cable had a core of seven copper wires, sheated in galvanized iron and covered in jute, around whoch were wound 10 iron wires, each covered in Manila hemp and gutta-percha.

i am keeping track of every play i've read. and i need to put it somewhere
this list is long so im putting it under a cut
The Pillowman - Martin McDonagh - really interesting read, i keep going back and forth on how I feel about it which is a sign that it's REALLY well-crafted. Pieces: Katurian (act 1, mostly), Ariel (act 3, mostly).
Hamlet - William Shakespeare - what a good play!
Romeo and Juliet - William Shakespeare
Titus Andronichus - William Shakespeare
Macbeth - William Shakespeare
Henry V - William Shakespeare
As You Like It - William Shakespeare
Much Ado About Nothing - William Shakespeare
Fences - August Wilson
Agamemmnon - Aeschylus
Electra - Sophocles - modern story conventions mean this play doesn't age well. Contemporarily, the drama of the play is centered around whether Electra will do matricide/step-patricide (with the audience at least hypothetically against the matricide), but modern story structures lessen this drama and turmoil because of moral changes -- it seems arbitrary that Orestes has to do the murder, and Clytaemnestra can be a little girlbossified. Pieces: see conversation between Electra and her sister, maybe.
Medea - Euripides - you don't need me to tell you this play is good.
The Frogs - Aristophanes
Phaedra - Seneca
Fat Ham - James Ijames
Fences - August Wilson
LOVE/SICK - John Cariani
Almost, Maine - John Cariani
Late: A Cowboy Song - Sarah Ruhl - I need to read more Sarah Ruhl
Fairview - Jackie Sibblies Drury
Intimate Apparel - Lynn Nottage
The Last Days of Judas Iscariot - Stephen Adler Guirgis
12 Angry Men - Reginald Rose
The Laramie Project - Moises Kaufman & The Tectonic Theatre Project
You and Me and the Space Between - Finegan Kruckemeyer
This Girl Laughs, This Girl Cries, This Girl Does Nothing - Finegan Kruckemeyer
The Book of Will - Lauren Gunderson
MilkMilkLemonade - Joshua Conkel
You on the Moors Now - Jaclyn Backhaus
The Metamorphoses - Mary Zimmerman
Fuddy Meers - David Lindsay-Abaire
A Doll's House - Henrik Ibsen
A Doll's House Part 2 - Lucas Hnath
Men on Boats - Jaclyn Backhaus
The Snow - Finegan Kruckemeyer
The Phantom Tollbooth - Susan Nanus
Digging Up Dessa - Laura Schellhardt
Actually - Anna Ziegler - i'm not sure how I feel about this play. both characetrs are strongly written. a lot of potential for monologues.
