Knowing how to age does not mean remaining young; it means extracting from one’s age the particles, the speeds and slownesses, the flows that constitute the youth of *that* age.

One of the confessions got deleted for some odd reason—even though I had it made and everything, and didn’t delete it, and I don’t remember exactly what it said, but the jist of if was that they think Sasha moving to Evgeni was a very bad idea, and that they didn’t like it one bit because Evgeni told Evgenia to just retire and move on at 20, so what’s going to happen to Sasha and her jumps when she’s 20? What is her training with him going to look like in the future because Evgeni’s past words make it sound like he’s going to think or want Sasha to be over and done with by 20, and that she might be, but (that) we shall see when the time comes with what happens or doesn’t happen.

I see comments like “I’m so in love with Chris/Seb tho he’s old enough to be my father”

And I’m looking at the screen smirking and mumbling “I’m old enough that he couldn’t be…” 😏

“You know judging in the sport is wrong when the first thing you worry about is when a 15-year-old girl with two junior world titles and countless records is losing her ‘coaching politics bonus.’”

Do you not yet comprehend the wicked secret of the immortal?

All age and die, save you. All rot and fall to dust, save you. Any child you bear becomes a crone and perishes before your eyes. Any lover withers and shrinks into incontinence and bent, toothless senility.

While you, only you, never age. Never tire. Never fade. Alone. But after a time you’ll lose the desire for passion entirely, for connection with anyone. Like a muscle that atrophies from lack of use.

And one day you’ll realize you’ve become like them. Beautiful and dead. You have become a perfect, unchanging portrait of yourself.

((According to Ayato, “unlike Shu or Reiji, we’ve never been to the carnival” Shu and Reiji have been there once each. So, I highly doubt that was intentional as in: “I’m just gonna take Shu and Reiji”, more like… “These are the only kids I have”, and clearly they were old enough to remember the carnival. Not only that but in HDB, Shu’s bad ending, all the others seem quite surprised when he tells everybody about the village Reiji burnt down. So they sure were really young back then or were not even born (though in MB it is referenced that they all were born by then, but again, MB forward is like an Alternative Universe). Now, Subaru is younger than all the other Mukami’s as well, we have Shu as the oldest in the Sakamaki/Tsukinami and Mukamis, and we have Subaru as the Youngest out of everyone. According to the post I base myself out of, and using the Mukami’s as a reference… I’d say Subaru may not even have completed a century, yet. Or he just did.))

((Now, in one of the CD’s Reiji tells Ayato their “age difference is not that big”, but, again, there is a lot of inconsistent writing in DL. Shu is 300 and Subaru, let’s say, 100… I wouldn’t be surprised it the triplets were around their.. hmm… Let’s pretend Shu - Triplets - Subaru each have a 100 years gap difference. Shu with 300, Triplets 200 and Subaru 100, so we give Reiji 250, is a middle term, I imagine for a vampire, 50 years is nothing, but a century would be like a decade for us. Someone 5 years older/younger than you don’t hit as hard as someone that is 10 years older/younger. Also, Shu calls Ayato “prepubescent” and “brat” quite frequently in the CDs, and “Kid” to Subaru.))

((So for our Human’s standard… I’d say Shu is, like… 30, Reiji is 25, the Triplets just got to their 20-19, and Subaru would be, like 10 in Vampires age. that would make sense to the “prepubescent” and “Kid” nicknames Shu uses on them respectively while for Reiji his age difference with the triplet “is not that big”))

I felt age within me. Distance.

The futility of wandering. Torpor.

I looked back setting my bundle down.

I looked back not knowing where to set my foot.

Serpents appeared on my path,

spiders, field mice, baby vultures.

They were neither good nor evil now — every living thing

was simply creeping or hopping along in the mass panic.
