I’ve talked about this before but imagine what it’s like for someone in a country/place where eliot is Top Most Wanted and then your tech guy finds a breakout star baseball player on their visual scanner that looks EXACTLY like spencer. but…there’s no way that’s him, right???
and then the next year it happens again but this time it’s some one hit wonder country singer kenneth crane that has like 78 tween-run fangirl blogs dedicated to him. you see a grainy video of him being chased by a horde of screaming teenage girls and ??? no way Eliot Last Thing You’ll Ever See Spencer is a country singer star just. signing pictures of his face right…?
a few months later your intern shows you footage of an eliot lookalike who is in san lorenzo talking about how there is dog fighting in the presidential palace and you just. sigh. because of course. a scant few days later the political geography of the country changes drastically and damien moreau is imprisoned. …interesting
and then a year of silence goes by. he still shows up as blips on the radar but he must have a good hacker working for him because his tracks on the internet are expertly erased.
every time you ask through interagency channels some random interpol guy talks in (condescending?) riddles at you and it also somehow feels like he’s threatening you
and then your friend who recently got into foreign hockey teams sends you a dropyourgloves video of someone called jacques the bear. you immediately get a headache (and watch some more videos because even you can admit this guy is a good hockey player)
and you know he’s a Bad Guy but it’s been admittedly a bit entertaining seeing what claim to fame he will come upon next. and his most recent actions over the few years make you wonder.
a few months later your phone pings because multiple heads of state evacuated from DC. the reason? eliot spencer was in town. you hear two days later a bioterrorist was taken down by… the report was redacted. your hacker tells you spencer and two teammates were behind the successful operation. which, huh.
not even a full year later it is released that spencer is dead and… you don’t know how to feel.

Eliot Spencer in 1890s clothing is Exactly what I picture Quincey Morris looking like and I will take no criticism of that. if they ever did a Dracula ep (à la DB Cooper case) Nate would have been Van Helsing

Happy Thanksgiving to everyone!
Friendly reminder today Eliot is making a feast and slapping Parker's hand away from all the desserts.
Breanna and Hardison are sitting there judging Eliot's food making skills.
Harry and Sophie are drinking wine.
And Nana is the only other one helping in the kitchen.
All for a proper Thanksgiving!

In Leverage Redemption when Parker pretends to be FBI she doesn't use the agent Hagen alias anymore. Now this could have a simple explanation like the alias being blown and no longer useful. However there is an infinitely funnier option.
Agent Hagen is a legitimate FBI agent now, and therefore cannot be part of any illegal business.
I mean, look, it's been eight years and over the course of the original show agent Hagen was pretty good at her job! At some point McSweeten either found out agent Hagen wasn't really an agent and made some corrections or someone working administration found out agent Hagen wasn't getting a paycheck and fixed that problem.
I'm particularly fond of the idea that McSweeten knows that Parker, legendary thief, is agent Hagen but also figures she's helped out so much that he might as well give her a job. Maybe some sort of special investigator position where no one will question that agent Hagen never shows up at the office. Sometimes he finds out about fake FBI agents from the other leverage crews and just... adds them to Hagen's team.
(And of course, all of this applies to Hardison's FBI alias too.)

The Bank Shot Job is actually wild.
They're three feet from the end of the job and bankrupting a corrupt judge. Eliot laments the fact that they couldn't do more. Nate notices that the bank is being robbed and instead of getting out he stays with Sophie & they both end up trapped in the building with the thieves, bank employees & patrons, and the mark. Hardison & Parker go undercover as FBI agents and take over the scene from the local cops. They decide to help the robbers and use the mark's money to get the mom/wife of the robbers back from drug dealers. Eliot says "We'd be the cavalry." Parker gets to rob a bank that's being robbed. Hardison claims the robber has demanded a dozen pizzas, 3 copies of the new Hall & Oates CD, and an etch-a-sketch. Mark realizes his money is gone and takes over the bank robbery. Mark shoots Nate which causes Sophie to blow their cover. Hardison brings the mark his money in a pizza box while Parker & Eliot bring in a gurney then get the original robbers to swap clothes and take Nate to an ambulance as medics. Mark pulls gun on Hardison as local cops enter the bank. Eliot, Parker, and Sophie straight-up lie to the police and frame the mark. Hardison alters the security footage to match. They plant drugs in his briefcase. EVERYONE JOINS IN. Mark goes to jail. Eliot stitches Nate's bullet wound in the ambulance as the team head home together. Real FBI agents show up (McSweeten & Taggert!!) and take credit for the arrests of the mark and the drug dealers.

Okay let me talk about Maria ( the Marshall from Leverage Redemption ) because everything about this character pisses me off.
What makes me so mad is the unused potential of it all ( and also the whole creating a female character whose only purpose and personality trait is to be a man's love interest... ) I was hyped when we first saw her, and at least it makes sense for Eliot to be attracted to her since we know a beautiful woman kicking his ass is his biggest turn on lol.
But then after that first meeting they never really care to develop their relationship ( or Maria. ) Suddenly they're dating and I can't bother to care because the writers themselves don't care enough to show us anything about them. But I would've hoped that AT LEAST there would be some conflict coming from the fact that she's a cop and him a pretty notorious criminal ?? But no, she doesn't question why he had a warrant out on him when they first met ( not even in his name ) or anything else he does, she just kinda assumes he's working for the government in some capacity. And that doesn't even make sense imo since one of her only personality trait is Being a Cop™. She should've been intrigued and asked way more questions. But in the Hurricane Job she tells him that she doesn't care what he does because he does good. Okay. So what's the point of her being here? What does she add to the show??
What I would've done was go for a similar dynamic to Parker/McSweeten. Like Parker has to do stuff for the con while pretending to be a FBI agent, it adds drama and pressure and makes for funny shenanigans. Maybe it's just that, Eliot having to do stuff for the con while pretending to be a normal upstanding citizen in front of Maria, or maybe the team had to steal something for the con and Maria gets assigned to investigate so now they have to be careful to not get caught. And she's good at following their trail so Eliot has to hide from her bunch of time. Or maybe she's only getting close to Eliot as a way to investigate him and then she starts to actually care for him. If they'd have shown us that I would've probably loved their relationship. Or something else I don't know. Anything else.
Instead what we get is an uninteresting relationship where the break up doesn't make that much sense cause oh suddenly she cares about what Eliot does? Okay lol.
Since she's gonna be in S3, my hope is that she's investigating the team ( maybe unknowingly at first, like she's just investigating the weird things that have been happening in New Orleans. ) and not that they try to force us to care about her and Eliot's relationship for no reason again. At least give the woman another personality trait besides being a girlboss cop ( also I could go on a whole separate tangent about the way Leverage portrays cops. that's something else that pisses me off about this character )
Absolutely no hate to Andrea Navedo btw she does a good job at portraying the character with what she's given. Which isn't a lot.

Leverage Episode Battle
The Snow Job: Season One, Episode Nine. Nate has an emotional connection to the case of a National Guardsman whose home was foreclosed by a crooked contractor. He jeopardizes the team by hitting the bottle again, then jeopardizes the job by deciding to go for a bigger scam with an even bigger payout.
The D.B. Cooper Job: Season Five, Episode Six. Agent McSweeten, who still thinks that Parker and Hardison are undercover FBI, asks the team to look into the case that obsesses his dying father: the 1971 plane hijacking by D. B. Cooper.

Owen in the Leverage AU
Okay now I can't help but imagine Owen as an FBI agent like McSweeten or Taggert in the Leverage AU.
Just imagine, if you will:
You've been given an assignment to gather info on a mobster. You and your buddy Geoff have tried your darndest, but you can only get a single listening device inside the mansion in a room that barely gets used. Still, it's surveillance! So for the most part you're chilling with Geoff hoping to hear anything.
Then, two new FBI agents show up and let you both know that they're your new backup. Sweet! They immediately want to get caught up to speed so of course you tell them everything. One of them is really interested in your tech, and starts telling you things that you didn't even know about it! He's so cool! They ask to borrow some so of course you and your buddy Geoff let them. You notice that more seems to be missing than you know you gave them, but oh well, you probably miscounted or something! Then, not long after that, suddenly they're just handing you the info you need to take the mobster down AND are letting you two take the credit for it since you've been working the case longer?! No way, these two are the best! You want to invite them for lunch to thank them but they're gone the moment you turn your back.
You keep seeing them pop up investigation after investigation, and they're always helping you out. They don't really share too much about their personal lives, but that's alright! You still appreciate your little buddy and your zany buddy, even if they always leave before anyone else shows up.
One day you're finally able to catch them before they speed off again. They both look REALLY nervous, so you decide it's finally time to pop the question: asking them to meet outside of work! You won't take no for an answer because it always sucks so much to only see them on the job. They finally agree, and you finally get to show how much you appreciate them, AND get two new work buddies!
And that's a day in the life of Owen in this AU, who has absolutely no idea that he has befriended Noah, the world's best hacker and Izzy, the world's most notorious thief. Who only planned to use their fake FBI personas once to get information out of two very incompetent FBI agents, only to make their first non-criminal friend along the way.
