Julieta is very over protective and makes sure Bruno gets healed from every scratch and that he drinks enough water

Bruno and Pepa play tag and lots of outside games

Julieta knits Bruno a blankie

Julieta and Pepa are both very different people

Pepa is better at playing with Bruno

and Julieta is better at bedtime and calming Bruno down

Bruno loves his big sisters so much, but still is a bit of a brat when he gets tired.

When Bruno gets mad at his sisters he hides in his old room in the walls. Julieta is very claustrophobic, so Pepa always is the one to go try and calm him down.

Am I the only one who, after watching Encanto, uses “Clear skies” as a way to calm down? Like I know a lot of people see this as Pepa suppressing her emotions and not allowing herself to feel or forcing herself to be happy, but as someone who spirals a lot, like Pepa, I find that repetitive phrases or actions -like stroking a braid- to be incredibly self soothing.

To me, I think it’s less about not feeling these emotions and more of a way to step back and analyze these feelings with a clear (sky) head. Pepa has anxiety, and I think she would need these self soothing practices even without her powers. It is not fun or helpful or healthy to allow yourself to fall into a hurricane of emotion when there is a safe way to calm down without a meltdown or a panic attack. No thinks it’s bad or unhealthy when she leans on Felix to cope, “Clear skies” is just has valid.

↳ Bruno Madrigal, Agere, Hurt/comfort

Living in the walls for so long, was not good for a person.

10 years Bruno had stayed between the walls of Casita. Listening to his name become taboo, listening to every secret, every conversation.

Pretending he was still part of the family.

But coming out of it after those years, was so much harder.

He'd often gone back in the walls for some alone time. At times he'd find himself sitting with any one of the Madrigal kids. Having 'alone time' togheter.

Pepa had joined him a bunch of times too.

The sun was still bright, too bright. He'd still spend most of his time in Casita where it was dimmer. The sound of the town was loud, to loud he spent most of his time in his room.

His family was a lot, too much at times, he spent most of his time in the walls.

So that's where he found himself again.

There was a party raging inside Casita, He didn't know what kind of celebration it was. All he knew was that it was loud and overwhelming.

In the back of his mind he wondered why Dolores wasn't with him.

A knock to the make-shift door startled him out of his thoughts. Bruno turned to the door, staying silent. "Bruno? Can i come in?" Came his sister's voice.

Bruno thought for a moment, before nodding to himself. "Go on." He said, and on cue Pepa opened the door, coming in. "Hi Brunito." Pepa walked over to her brother sitting down beside him on the floor.

"Hi Pepp- Pepa." Pepa stared at him with a gentle expression, one he could only explain of a mother to her child. "It must be loud huh? I already went to Dolores. Thought you might want some help too." Pepa lightly nudged him, getting a smile from him.

Tears started welling up in Bruno's eyes as he reached out for Pepa's hand. "Peppy- Peppy it's so loud." Pepa merely took him in her arms. "Sh, sh, i know i know."

"It's too much, too much, too much. Hurts." Bruno put his hands over his ears, too which Pepa helped out putting her own hands above his. "I know, Don't worry it'll be over soon. Julie will be here too soon." Pepa gently comforted, rocking him back and forth. "She will?"

"She will."

"Will Dolores be okay?" Bruno asked, looking up at his sister. Pepa nodded. "Dolores is gonna be just fine. She's asleep, away from the sound." Bruno nodded.

The two sat for a moment in silence before the door opened again.

"I'm sorry i took so long, i don't come here often." Julieta said, closing the door behind her. Bruno smiled for a second at his sister before returning back to his frown.

"Loud." Bruno put his hands back over his ears, Pepa following suit. "Everything's gonna be alright." Pepa whispered, close enough to him so he could still hear it.

Julieta quickly went over, Gently wiping his tears away.

"I know it's loud Brunito, but it will be over soon." Julieta smiled, giving Bruno's arm a squeeze. Bruno nodded, rationally he believed her of course and knew she was right.

But he was 4 and having a panic attack.

Pepa seemed to notice his doubts, as she reassured him, "We'll stay with you till it's over. Promise." Julieta smiled hugging Bruno from behind and putting her own hands above Pepa's.

"We'll block it out. We'll protect you." Julieta said. "You'll be alright." She continued at Bruno's whimpers.

"You're doing so well Brunito." Pepa praised as Bruno's breathing returned to normal. She pressed a gentle kiss to his forehead to which Bruno smiled.

And soon enough Julieta's words were true, as the party died down and the geusts were let out.

The sisters sat back, relaxing when Bruno took his own hands of his ears.

"There all better right?" Julieta asked.

"Mhm. Better." Pepa chuckled. "Wanna head for a nap Brunito?" Bruno nodded. "Alright let's head out of here."

It was unmistakeable how happy Pepa was today. Considering the giant rainbow over casa Madrigal.

She merely sat on her bed, watching the her brother and niece playing around in the seasons. They'd been planning it for weeks, a simple day where both could go little and hang around Casita. The only thing that wasn't planned was it taking place in Pepa's room.

But with the several seasons and kinds of weathers all stored inside of her room, they couldn't resist.

Pepa's train of thought was interrupted when her niece came running to her.

Mirabel climbed onto the bed before speaking up. "Tia! Me and Bruno want snacks! Can you ask Mami to make us snacks?" She asked, clapping as she finished. Bruno joined Mirabel sitting by her side, nodding gently.

Pepa smiled. "Of course! Do you guys wanna come along?" The ginger asked, slightly tilting her head, a habit of hers. Bruno nodded furiously while Mirabel smiled and clapped again.

Pepa chuckled. "Well that's an obvious yes."

She got up from her spot, the littles quickly following her to Casita's kitchen.

The kitchen doors opened, Pepa yelling out her sisters name, before spotting her by the counter.

Exactly where she thought Julieta would be. Pepa grinned.

"Julie! The children want snacks." Pepa chuckled, nodding to the two littles following her like ducklings.

Julieta quickly turned around in surprise, before smiling brightly at the sight of her siblings and daughter. Bruno and Mirabel ran over, almost causing Pepa to fall.

"And what would they want as a snack?" Julieta asked to the excited littles in front kf her.

"Arepa." Bruno mumbled

"Anything!" Mirabel exclaimed.

Julieta laughed, ruffling boths hair. "Alright loves give me a second."

Pepa only smiled from the door way as the littles excitedly jumped up onto the table to watch Julieta work.

Yeah.

She could get used to this again.

The family had agreed on one thing, for basically forever.

Pepa's chores were the worst.

They've all walked in on it atleast once. She had to basically cause herself a panic attack to water the crops in town.

Dolores was terrified the first time she saw it, she had just gotten her gift and was figuring out how she could help with her mother when she'd been called over to do it.

It had remained in her mind since.

And she still had to do it to this day.

So there she sat, whispering things to herself which to passerby's sounded incromphensible.

Anything that would upset her would be accepted in her book.

Her husband had never beenmade aware of the task.

So you can imagine the surprise when he was one of those passerby's.

"Mi vida?" Pepa looked up in surprise, meeting Felix's eyes.

It broke her.

Gentle sobs finally broke out, a light rain cloud above her head. Felix quickly rushed over. "Feli-" Pepa cut herself off with another choked sob.

Felix merely held her, lowering the both to the ground. He'd need to calm her a bit, then take her away to somewhere calm where no one would see them and continue.

"Pepa it's okay, i'm here, it's all fine." Felix gently stroked her hair, taking his wife in his arms, gently rocking back and forth. "Feli- small. Wan- wan out."

Felix didn't completely understand what she was saying, but he did understand she needed to get the hell out of here.

"Alright alright, we'll go back to Casita, we'll go home." Pepa quickly shook her head, shaking violently. "No no no, Mama be mad, she'd be mad."

Okay, so not Casita, an alley way? That was his best shot. Felix carefully stood up, helping Pepa up at the same time. "It's okay it's okay, we're going out of here. Not to Casita i promise."

Once they got settled far enough from poeple, though still in town, Felix sat her back down again, tracing gentle shapes on her back.

Pepa's choked sobs continued, though she was desperatly gasping for air, trying to breathe normally again. "Tedd- Teddy hug. Hug please." She tried, desperatly reaching out to Felix.

Felix did as told, Hugging Pepa tightly.

He'd have to ask Julieta ans Bruno about this later. But for now he Pepa in his arms, and needed to comfort her.
