hey girlie 💪🏽😼 i would like to request Yandere Madrigals where their darling calls THEM darling (can't decide whether platonic or not so you decide)
Their S/O Calling them Darling:
Leaving Alma and Antonio out because they're only Platonic for me, and Antonio is 5
Julieta & Agustín:
Julieta gets flustered
And once she gets over it, she's showering you in kisses
Agustín on the other hands looses all of his balance and d i e s-
Not really but you get my point-
He fucking loves it, and you have him getting out of the palm of your hand
Pepa & Félix:
"I made a rainbow! :D"
Yes, Yes you did Pepa-
It makes her really happy, so good job-
Gonna love hearing it each and every time you call her it-
Félix gets a bit bashful but then flirts back a bit
You call him darling, he's gonna say something else to make you more Flustered
J u s t f u c k i n g d i e s
He never expected it so it's just Bruno.Exe has stopped working
Loves it tho-
Keep calling him it, and you'll have the upper hand
Broski l i v e s f o r i t
I mean, she loves any sort of praise or compliment you give her
But calling her Darling and she goes wild-
Flowers blooming in her hair as it was unexpected
Is now expecting you to call her it more often now
Forget Isabela being her name, Now she is only Darling to you
Has to back track a bit-
You called her w h a t ?
Another one is dead because of it-
Gets flustered about it and then you get trapped inside a hug
Call her it more often, she loves it and you get the upper hand
Gets all bashful, and then showers you with kisses and gifts
Keep calling her it plz-
She absolutely loves it and it just makes her happy-
Definitely makes her feel Superior then everyone when you do
Lives for it
Gets kinda flustered about it
You start to call her darling when you know she's listening into you just to mess with her
Expects to be called Darling more often now
Shifting of the shapes
Gets caught off guard the first time-
He gets sudden energy and superiority from it
But tbh if you call him any sweet petname, He's gonna feel awesome about it
Y/n catching Agustín before he falls to the ground: Are you okay??
Agustín blushing: Marryme-
Y/n also blushing: W-what? *trips on their own feet causing both of them to fall*
Julieta in the distance: I'm gonna marry them.
Alma: Wich one?
Julieta: Both of them.
Alma: BOTH OF THEM??
Julieta smiling and nodding: Both of them...
How the Madrigals Would React to Seeing You in Encanto for the First Time - Pt. 2
The Madrigals x gn!Reader
Fluff - Romantic
[Word Count: 1,028]
The Madrigals are used to seeing most citizens of Encanto frequently, so it's always a shock when they see someone new. They just weren't expecting for that person to be so stunning.
- This is part 2 to my previous Encanto fic! I planned on writing/posting this tomorrow but that post unexpectedly blew up so here you go I guess! Also pretend that Félix and Agustín are still part of the Madrigal family even if they're not technically married. -
Julieta, Pepa, Bruno, Félix, and Agustín included
You had probably gotten injured while exploring the new territory, falling down a hill and spraining your ankle
The townsfolk led you to Julieta’s stand and brought you into the line, explaining that Madrigal gift is to heal a wound with the food that she makes
She worked her way down the line as she always did, smiling at her customers as she watched their wounds magically heal
When you came up though, she faltered
Even while you were explaining your injury, your eyes were practically glowing, and the smile that you sent her was warmer than any arepa she could make
She was overjoyed when she saw how your expression lit up as you felt your ankle right itself
Much to her delight, you stuck around after you were healed, helping her hand out her baked goods and making comfortable conversation as you did so
Julieta felt something for you that she hadn’t felt in a long time, and she never wanted that feeling to fade
Pepa walked the slick streets of Encanto mindlessly, the occasional rumble of thunder only making her mood worse. Today was a rainy day to begin with, and thundering would not make that any better
Most Encanto citizens were inside of their homes, but there were a few cold-prone kids running about, splashing in the puddles and laughing despite the thunderstorms threatening the sky
She rounded a corner and suddenly felt her entire brain go numb as she saw you there, spinning in the middle of the street with a smile on your face and rain in your hair
Your clothes were soaked, but you didn’t seem to care, and you practically cheered with each thunder clap
Pepa couldn’t help it - she felt the rain start to subside, replaced by a giant rainbow that stretched from the top of your head over the mountains of Encanto
When you looked back at her, the clouds disappeared, and the sun shone brighter than before
As people flooded into the roads around you two, you couldn’t stop staring at one another. It felt like a strong pulling, an invisible line that drew you two closer until you were just a few feet apart, close enough to finally introduce yourselves
Your relationship came easily from there, and from that day on you two were practically inseparable
Even after Bruno’s return, when you entered Encanto you heard poor word about him (old habits die hard)
Despite being told to keep your distance from the prophecy-teller, when you saw him walking amongst the rest of his family, you couldn’t deny that your interest was piqued
Bruno was the exact same way
He saw you sitting along the streets with a woman holding a wicker basket in her hands, laughing and telling stories, and froze dead in his tracks
All it took was a reciprocated look from you and it was over for him
Bruno stuttered even though he didn’t have to say anything, his mouth opening and closing rapidly as he struggled to find the right words
You offered him a small smile and quirked your head, patiently waiting for him to finish, which never happens
Bruno shouted “HI” from across the street and scampered off, already melting in a pool of his own embarrassment
The next day, he returned to town, trying to forget about the stunning person he saw down that very street the day before
But alas, you were there once more, this time waiting for him in particular
Once you manage to catch Bruno for long enough to hold a conversation, (he kept running off) he began to relax more
Bruno realized that the two of you actually have a lot in common, and that he enjoys talking to you almost as much as he enjoys talking with his rats
You two met up there for another month, like clockwork, before Bruno gathered up the courage to invite you to dinner with the Madrigals
Félix just loves to help out around Encanto, which is exactly what he was doing when he first met you
You were dancing with a little girl, both of you spinning and giggling like no one was watching
Félix immediately abandoned his post watering some porch flowers and practically skipped over to you, bowing and extending a hand before asking for a dance
Needless to say, you were charmed, and of course accepted his offer
The girl watched and clapped as you two spun and dipped, moving all about the tiled town square
When you were both finished dancing to imaginary music, Félix offered for you to attend a dinner with his family, per his invitation
You hesitated, but when you saw the pure hope and joy on that man’s face, you couldn’t resist agreeing
The poor guy is so accident-prone, you probably met under terribly poor circumstances
Agustín tripped over a loose board that was being used in the construction of a new house - your house - and fell right at your feet, falling nose-first on the solid ground
When he rolled onto his back and was met with your striking eyes, all of the pain he felt melted away
His mouth fell open as he stared, blinking a few times to snap back into reality once he realized you were trying to talk to him
You took off from helping with building your new home to walk Agustín to Julieta’s arepa stand, waiting patiently in line with him until it was his turn
Agustín then walked you back to your house, tripping a few times along the way but always being caught by you, which makes him flustered and start tripping more just out of embarrassment
He doesn’t feel ashamed around you, though, like how he does with some other people. There are lots of Encanto citizens that mock him for his clumsiness, but you never do - you help him through it and don’t say another word
Agustín fell hard and fast, and from that day onward he tried his hardest to “accidentally” fall in front of you again, even if it’s just to see your smile and hear you ask if he’s alright
Comfort Fic with Agustín Madrigal
This is very self indulgent to help me with my overstimulated self 🥺👉🏽👈🏽
Things were normal for Agustín, he did all his chores inside and out of casita. And now was currently making his way back to Casita after grabbing a snack from Julieta for his weekly bee sting attack. A pep in his step knowing you would be there waiting for him.
He didn’t know why you decided to shut the shop down for the day, promising everyone with a note that you’d get straight to work on all projects the following day. But he did know that after a good days work he could curl up to you and talk about a new book he’d gotten. His days were great but with you in them made them a little better.
So come to his surprise when arriving to his door hears the soft sniffles and muffled sobs from the room. Incoherent mumbles in a strained broken tone from your voice. His smile and happy mood quickly falls to concern. Walking in to find your head shoot up at his sudden appearance.
“A-Agustín! Hey honey, how was today?” Your tone wobbles and yet you still hold a false joy, sniffling at his name as your hands quickly go to clean your face of any tears.
His heart drops at this, how quickly you tried hiding away your sadness. He knew you didn’t like crying in front of people, didn’t like having other see you like this. But that didn’t stop him from wanting to comfort you. He’s your partner! He’s suppose to make sure you’re okay.
He lets a small smile show, nodding to let you know it was good as he walks towards you. Settling on the edge of the bed as he watching your eyes turn back to your hands. The same hands that laid against your thighs. That feeling growing back in your chest that made your eyes water up. You tried hiding them, tried blinking them away with a shaking feeling crawling to your mouth.
And to feel his arm move to curve around your shoulder made you jump. Those thoughts crawling in your mind again as the tears begin to spill out. Tiny sobs crawling out once more as you’re pulled against his chest. Both arms curling around your shoulders to pull you close to him. His lips laying a gentle kiss on your shaking head.
You hated it, hated not being able to handle everything. Being sensitive at every loud noise and outburst. How work flooded so much that Isabela had to intervene and force you to take a break and wait for her father to return home.
You hated troubling people with your own issues, feeling as if every time you expressed anything that wasn’t positive that people just got annoyed by your problems. They didn’t care, why would they want to hear how terrible you were feeling?? It wasn’t a big deal and most of them could handle what easily broke you down.
Agustín knew you weren’t like everyone else with these problems. You didn’t get annoyed or pissed off but instead overwhelmed and suffocated by it all. And yet he never judge you for this and instead knew you just needed a little more assurance and help in these situations. To be told that it was okay to step away and not hold back those threatening tears.
He begins to him softly, a rhythm burrowing from his chest as his hand pats your back softly to the tune.
Slowly all senses came back. You felt his hand thumping against your back. You hear his humming voice mumble from his lips. You smelled that exotic cologne he always wore.
You pull your face from his chest, looking up at his calming smile at you. Using your own hands to clean up your wet cheeks once more. Sniffling with a tiny grin.
“We all have bad days mi querido, you’re issues are just as important as anyone else.” You move your arms to wrap around his waist to push him back into the bed to earn a gentle chuckle from him.
“Will you lay with me for a little bit…?”
“Of course mi corazón! Anything you need, I’m your knight.” You giggle at him, snuggling deeper into him as you continue to listen to his soft humming. Feeling just a tiny bit better with him holding you.
If you’re fine with going to see the movie, then yeah, because honestly Pepa and her family would be a interesting set of platonic yanderes imo lol
Yandere Madrigals (Platonic Headcanons)
TW: Emotional Manipulation, Toxic Mindsets.
A.N. - I wasn't sure how much of the family you wanted, so I did all of them at once.
A silent war is waged in Casa Madrigal, and the entire town of Encanto has a stake in it. When the skies darken and pouring rain arrives in gusts of howling winds courtesy of Pepa, every citizen reaps the consequences of the family having an argument with or a disagreement over their friend. Each member has a unique idea of how best to treat their friend, which breeds an endless amount of petty conflict but also a powerful sense of unity.
As the perceived golden child, Isabela expects to be the centre of their attention. She attempts to dazzle them by blooming rows of the flowers she has been told are beautiful and praised for growing, and if this fails to win their everlasting admiration, Isabela is at a loss for what to do. For much of her life, her chlorokinesis was hailed as her best quality, leaving seeds of envy to sprout when their friend is impressed by another member of the family.
In addition to her own insecurities, Isabela encounters great competition in the form of her cousins. None of these threats are greater than Camilo, who is rich with a need for attention and is determined to steal the title of their friend's favourite Madrigal. Camilo shapeshifts into random civilians on the street, important people in their friend's life and their preferred member of the family if not himself – all to interact with them a little longer and, in his mind, build a rapport with them.
Luisa is not as hungry for attention as her cousins and older sister, but she does have a robust want to be seen as useful to their friend. She refrains from intruding on their engagements with other members of the family and instead waits for them to seek out her, asking for any tasks and chores that she can do for them every time they meet. Luisa measures her worth by how much stress she lifts off their friend and encourages them to transfer the smallest and most insignificant duties to her if she has not helped them for a while.
Before Bruno is accepted back into the family, he goes unnoticed by their friend until Dolores enlightens them or they catch him raiding the kitchen in the dead of night during a sleepover. Bruno fears the wrath of Alma and resigns himself to speaking with them through tunnels in the walls, sometimes trying to persuade them to visit his hideout. Antonio is informed of this via his nocturnal animals and Bruno's rats, but the kid is happy to keep it secret as long as he can come with their friend and receive extra time with them later.
As a magic-less individual in a household full of supernatural abilities, Mirabel struggles to retain a presence in their friend's day. Among her family's nonstop ventures to enthrall them with superhuman feats, she feels that anything she can offer is doomed to be inferior to the gardens, rainbows and heavy lifting. This does not deter her from trying, however, and Mirabel seeks to claim her piece of their attention by rushing to talk to them and bring them to the privacy of the nursery when a family member steps away.
Regardless of how much their friend tries to keep their private life to themselves, Dolores hears each thought mumbled in secrecy and every twinge of fear and discomfort that sneaks into a laugh or step. She is quite loose-lipped when it pertains to secrets and wastes no time recounting everything she learned to the eager ears of her family. As a means of vengeance whenever someone interrupts her time with their friend, Dolores withholds information and tells her other relatives not to keep the offending member updated with the latest news until either she forgives them or they apologize to her.
Mirabel and Antonio shed doubt on the fairness of this process, and while she does not approve of its underhanded nature, Alma deems it a necessary invasion to ensure their safety. As far as Agustín and Félix are concerned, eavesdropping is a silly byproduct of joining the Madrigals because their friend might as well be a member of the family. Julieta and her motherly instincts support Alma when she encourages their friend to move into Casa Madrigal, citing it as a way to provide them with the happiest life possible.
After he is accepted back into the family, Bruno lives in constant fear of giving their friend one too many negative prophecies and losing their companionship forever. He wishes to only share the good news, but the thought of them facing a hardship unprepared when he could have warned them drives him to track down their whereabouts and deliver the brutal truth. Whether Bruno slips up or Dolores overhears him, knowledge of the adverse prophecy flows back to the rest of the family and causes an uproar at dinner.
Alma leads the discussion, with Julieta and Pepa throwing in the odd comment here and there. Agustín and Félix are the jokesters of the group and fail to understand why the situation has to be so tense, aiming to keep the room stable with humour. Isabela casts hidden glares and the occasional snide remark at whoever she thinks their friend prefers to her. Dolores exposes her, and Isabela's denial leads to Pepa succumbing to the emotional chaos and summoning a storm.
Camilo seizes the opportunity to mock and impersonate whichever family member he views as his biggest competitor. Luisa is crying about how she has supposedly disappointed their friend, while Mirabel comforts her and tries to keep a foothold in the conversation at the same time. Antonio is an anxious observer for most of the event and excuses himself to play with his animals far from the dining room.
Just as it seems like the discussion cannot be salvaged, Bruno stumbles out of a hole in the wall – sand in his mouth and a rat in his hand. He lies and announces a second prophecy that negates the first. It is a desperate ploy to ease the tempers and fears of his family, and if the real prophecy comes to pass, Bruno suggests a way to fight it but paints the suggestion as a forgotten detail of his vision to preserve his innocence.

Imagine Dating Julieta & Agustín Madrigal
I cannot get them out of my head I simply love all the adults in this film, and I want to marry all of them
You met Agustín first while in town turns out he isn’t the only klutz. You both turned a corner knocking into each other head first, then falling into a small pile of mud. Agustín ever apologetic helps you up getting a good look at you, noticing the small bump forming on your forehead, followed by a wince as you tried to blink. You couldn’t help but notice how handsome he was, a bright grin on his face, and the most playful eyes you’ve ever seen. His hands were strong as he held you up, you felt dizzy and not because your head hurt.
He insists on taking you to meet his wife who won’t mind the trouble! Practically rambling the entire way, even if you were in too much pain to talk you found it absolutely adorable. When he brings you to the casita, the tiles immediately rushed you towards the kitchen, causing it to frighten you so you clung tightly to his arm.
“Oh! Don’t worry about that, that’s just casita they’re very friendly” he assured you patting your hand, you slowly let go of him, suddenly embarrassed.
“Mi amor! Im home! I brought a friend!” Agustín’s wording caught you off guard considering you two just met, but you couldn’t deny that his friendly nature made you feel relaxed
When his wife finally turned the corner it was as if time stood still. You were charmed by the beautiful, soft spoken women adorned with herbs in her apron. Was the house always this warm? She came forward with a plate of fresh arepas, and a knowing smile on her face.
“What trouble did you get into this time Agustín, here eat.” She shoveled the arepa in his mouth, as he happily munched on it. You realized he must have this sort of thing happen a lot. The idea of Agustín being so clumsy made you giggle. Which caught his wife’s attention.
“You must be the one who got caught in my husbands antics, I’m very sorry, I’m Julieta” she spoke smoothly, making a point to grasp your hand as she smiled at you
“Oh, uh… actually it was me-well it was both of us w-who bumped into each other! I’m a bit clumsy at times…” you trailed off trying to muster up a smile that only came off as a wince. You swore you could have seen julieta’s eyes light up when you mentioned how clumsy you were.
She let out a soft giggle as Agustín gently nudged her with a knowing look on his face, “I’m sure we will be seeing you around more often.”
• running into Agustín more and more as the weeks pass by, asking for you to help him with his chores which only leads to a big mess and lots of pain
• Julieta packing Agustín with extra arepas if she knows he’s going into town to see you
• Julieta being the one to invite you to dinner because Agustín is not as eloquent, tending to ramble when he is nervous
• you’re slightly younger than the couple, meeting them in your early 30s
• being intimated by abuela alma, when she asks to see you only to simply ask if her family and her daughter makes you happy. She finds julieta’s fondness for clumsy dorks endearing
• the dinner goes well! Everyone is excited to meet you, Pepa and Fèlix holds this knowing grin all throughout the dinner. She’s also flattered by your interest in her powers, so it’s an immediate nod of approval from her
• the kids aren’t as clueless (besides probably Camilo) when they notice you coming over more and more. Seeing how happy their tio & tia are whenever you’re around
• after a few of months the couple invite you to a dinner with only them, Julieta making you’re favorite dishes, and Agustín telling you stories about what the family has been up to. You don’t think anything of it until you’re all cuddled up on the couch, sandwiched between them holding both their hands. When they ask you to be apart of their family, to be with them.
• when you say yes, you hear hushed whoops and hollers ,a rainbow covering the house. So much for Dolores keeping it a surprise
• the three daughters don’t mind you being with their parents seeing how happy you make them, and how well you fit into the family. They’re very supportive and loving.
• when you move into the casita it takes a bit of time to get used to such a lively house(literally) but you bond with casita often talking to the building as another family member
• Julieta loves to hug you, give you kisses, and hold your hand whenever she gets the chance
• Agustín is always squishing your cheeks, playing with your hair, or pulling you closer to him when he gets the chance
• helping Julieta in the kitchen make her arepas so she has more time to relax, reminding her that she is only one person so she shouldn’t overdue it
• helping Agustín with his daily chores, lounging with him, and playing board games with him
• Agustín taking you out for picnics showing you around the mountains
• hanging out with Mirabel, Isabela, and Luisa holding good natured sibling competitions on who can do what, loving how much they’ve grown with their gifts. Seeing Mirabel excel even without one
• showing Isabela you’re own plant collection! She is impressed and fascinated by your expertise
• teaching Luisa yoga to help her muscles relax as well as her mind when she isn’t working
• you get along really well with pepa always making her laugh, dancing with her, and telling each other jokes.
• Fèlix is your go to dance partner because that man has got moves! His energy is contagious, you impressed the family when they first saw you dance
• Agustín is very shy with you at first, but you encourage him to just be himself he never has to try and impress you
• cuddling whenever you have a bad day, Julieta scoops you into her arms, and Agustín kisses your cheeks making confusing analogies to relate to you
• you and Agustín playfully fighting for julieta’s attention trying to impress her, but just injuring each other in the process
• helping Bruno prank Pepa and Julieta which usually results in being soaked by rain, and put in a time out by your own girlfriend
• Agustín making you laugh every chance he gets that man is not afraid to make a fool of himself if it means seeing you smile
• “mi vida!” In unison “yes!?” “Be careful!!”

Someone bullying their youngest daughter? The ones responsible will not get away with it.
Julieta will make poisoned arepas for the ones who are responsible, and Agustín will threaten the hell out of them, and Julieta will give the poison arepas to them as a sign of "Sorry" for her husband’s actions.

Trust me, when they found out you were being bullied, Pepa had a hurricane.
Félix was calming her down and believe me, he was absolutely enraged.
Who would wanna hate their adorable sobrina?
Félix and Pepa made plans for the responsible one, and they were never seen again.
Hold up, hold up! Someone is bullying his second youngest sobrina? Unacceptable!
Bruno will immediately go to his vision cave and have a vision of the one who is responsible.
If they have a good future, Bruno will do everything in his power to destroy that good future.

Hello could I request yandere family madrigal with Anotino's twin reader, and the reader didn't get a gift.
And she was super upset just sobbing :(
( I'm not very happy about this but I hope you like it)
Yandere Family Madrigal with Antonio's twin that never got a gift
TW OBSESSIVE BEHAVIOR STALKING POSSESSIVE BEHAVIOR STOCKHOLM SYNDROME MANIPULATION ABUSIVE BEHAVIOR
💜 you were born on the same day as Antonio just a few hours apart but you two were very close especially with the family even though it was your gift ceremony you were still so scared that you would possibly not get a gift little do you know that your worst fear would come true
💛Pepa will spoil you to bits after you never got a gift you were just so sad you won't stop crying for a few days scared that you disappointed to the family he wanted to help with family often will be by you whenever you would start crying again thinking that you fail the family
💛Félix will be by your side 100% even though you don't have a gift you are still very important to the family everyone loves and cares for you but they're still love you and care for you even though they baby you even more because you don't have a gift
💛 Camilo would try to cheer you up by shapeshifting into people but that just made you more upset thinking that you were useless compared to everyone else you would just start crying again Camilla would quickly shape-shift back and hug you tight whenever someone would try to ask what your gift was he would give them a quick glare before quickly walking out of the area most of the time we have is no one asked you that they don't appear in the town
💛 Dolores is one of the many people that would comfort you she would definitely play more games with you and hang out most the time with you even forgetting about her love for someone else she would kill up anyone that she would I think that would make fun of you or call you useless
💛 Antonio which one of the worst affected by this expected you to get a gift to he was hoping and praying but when you didn't get a door and started crying he quickly made his room and your room combined into one he carved your name hello rather messily into his door and said sorry to Casita
❤ Abuela I felt terrible for you even more than Maribel. She didn't want you to end up like her she started giving you more and more gifts but that didn't really change her mind that she had to continue with taking care of Casita but she would give you a candle not necessarily like the one she had but the same design
💙 Agustín and Julieta face boil you even more than your own parents it becomes very tedious more food more of your favorite meals more songs more plushies more candy excetera it does get a little annoying but you love your family so you just deal with it you're too young to understand what's going on anyway
💙 Isabella she would make you small flower crowns and decorate your room covered with flowers even though it was still the nursery but she wanted to make you happy but even though you're allergic to some of the flowers she goes a little bit overboard
💙lusia it's probably one of the most overprotective one whenever someone in the town to try to talk to you she would quickly scared them all if anyone tried to befriend you scare them off and if anyone besides the family would try to talk to you they would scare them off she just wants to protect you from judgment Maribel that was that too much so she just wanted you to be happy
💙 Maribel knows exactly what you're going through she went through the exact same thing so she knows that you won't be okay for a while she wants you to be happy that's for sure but she will teach you how to help around the house without a gift and soon you started lighting up the mood and we're happy again but that didn't change your mind that you felt kind of useless
💚 Bruno's probably the second person to know what you're going through feeling like his gift wasn't helping with family he wanted to help you he would slowly show himself and give you small gifts which would be small dresses for your dolls or a little pet rat he was happy whenever you would refer to him as tío and when he was accepted back in the family he would be even happier to help you around the house
I'm sorry if this is bad
anyone else salty that Dolores and Camilo got left out of the Funko Pop collection? As well as Pepa, Félix, and Agustín!! I know they're more side characters, but THEY LITERALLY CUT OUT TWO OF THE GRANDKIDS WITH THE BIGGEST FOLLOWINGS
Mi eterno amor secreto (Julieta x Fem!Reader)
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
“Julietaaaaaa” You squealed as you ran to your best friend.
The brunette didn’t have much time to react as she suddenly felt you throwing yourself into her arms. Good thing there was her table because otherwise, you two would have ended up on the floor. Not that she’d mind, tho.
“Y/N, you need to stop doing this” she laughed
“But it’s funny!”
“But someday I might not catch you!”
“Meh, if we fall I’ll probably be on top of you, so I’d land something soft” you winked.
Julieta just rolled her eyes as you hugged her tighter, grateful that her dark skin tone hide her blush so well. She wasn’t a girl that lied to herself, she was more than aware of her feelings for you since…well since she could remember! But she has always been good at hiding them.
But the more you two grew up, the hardest it became. You were always a cute girl, but now you had been growing into a beautiful woman with such beautiful attributes (no, she wasn’t caught by her sister staring at your chest, thank you very much!) and the worse part was that you didn’t even seem to realize the troubles you were getting her into.
That’s why you kept doing little things like this! Throwing yourself into her arms, holding her hand as you walk, kissing her cheek after leaving her at her house door. Things that were driving her crazy. Her siblings had already started teasing her about this and even her mother started asking her about you and when was she going to invite you to have dinner with them. If only she could get the courage to ask you.
“Earth to Juli” you said for the third time.
Julieta jumped when she felt you squeezing her cheeks and baby talking to her. Ugh, she hated when you did that and she knew you wouldn’t stop if she didn’t make you.
“Leave my face alone” she growled, trying to push you away
“Nope. Your punishment for ignoring me”
You kept squeezing her cheeks, moving closer when she tried to step away. You knew you were being silly, but the smiles she tried to hide were worth it. Besides, you loved how it felt her skin under your touch. You loved how soft she was, the warmth that came from her, even how she smelled! (like a sweet bakery).
“That’s mine!!” Julieta yelled, still trying to get away from you
“Nope, these cheeks are mine now” you smirked.
Julieta froze in her place and she was sure her blush was noticeable now. Why did you have to make such comments?! She knew you didn’t mean it as she thought. Friends tease each other, right? You were only being friendly, right? But oh, how she wished you weren’t.
“A-are you done?” she asked
“Almost” you giggled “say you’re mine and I’ll let you go”
“W-what?!” her blush deepened
“Say you’re mine and I’ll let you go” you repeated “come one, Juli, say it!”
You knew you were being selfish here, and that even if she said it, it wouldn’t mean what you wanted, but hey! At least you could hold that words close to your heart. That was enough for you.
Julieta sighed and prayed no one would listen, especially one of her siblings. They’d never let her live with this if they did.
“Ok…I’m yours” she whispered “are you happy now?”
“awwww” you squeezed her cheeks a little tighter “I’m yours too, Juli”
“Are you?” she blinked
“Of course! You’re my best friend! We’re soulmates” you said, kissing her nose quickly before finally letting her go.
Julieta just smiled, trying to ignore how her heart dropped when you said best friends. You waved at someone behind her and she knew one of her siblings was walking up to you two, probably to call her for dinner. She put her “everything’s fine” face and acted as if she wasn’t affected by…everything.
As you and Bruno helped her get her things packed, she couldn’t help but miss the warmth of your hands on her face, and when she watched you waving at them before running to your house, she promised to herself that she’ll confess the next time. She’ll do it!
“Are you ok?”
Julieta jumped when her sister put a hand on her shoulder. She didn’t hear anyone walking into the kitchen. She tried to wipe her tears with the back of her hand but she knew her sister had already seen them.
“Yes, yes” she lied “Why wouldn’t I?”
Pepa frowned when Julieta kneaded her dough again, a little harder than necessary and angrier. She hated seeing her older sister like this. A cloud started to form above her head, feeling the same sadness Julieta was feeling.
“I don’t want to talk about it, Pepa” the older one interrupted her “Not now...please”
The redhead just nodded and squeezed her sister’s shoulder gently before walking out. She knew Julieta will come to her or Bruno when she was ready, she just wished she could do anything to help her…or that she was allowed to hit you with lighting.
Don’t get her wrong, Pepa liked you! You were always so nice to her and Bruno, unlike other people that only wanted to gain Julieta’s favor because of her much more useful gift and ignored the existence of the other two. In fact, you were always eager to listen to Bruno’s ramblings about his visions or his rats, and you never got angry when Pepa accidentally wet you with her rain or her strong wind ruffled your hair, leaving it all knotted. Nope, you’d always laugh it off or try to calm her. It was like having another sister and Pepa loved how Julieta’s smile was bigger when you were around.
But now…Now you had taken that smile, crush it, erase it, destroyed it! You broke Julieta’s heart without a second thought. And the worst part was that you didn’t even realize it. You were only sharing the news that was good for you, without knowing how much it would hurt her sister. It wasn’t fair.
Julieta sighed when Pepa left the kitchen. She knew her sister only wanted to help and she was grateful for that, but the redhead couldn’t do anything for her. No one could, not even her magic food could heal this wound. Because they were no physical. It was her heart that was broken and only you could heal it, but how could she ask you to when it was you who broke it in the first place?
Why did you have to tell her? Why did she have to go to school that day? Why didn’t she say she was sick or something? Why did you have to smile while you were shattering all her dreams and hopes? Just…why did it hurt so much?
You had a boyfriend.
You had come running to her, throwing yourself into her arms like you always did, with the brightest smile on your face. Julieta didn’t know what was happening but her heart always jumped whenever you smiled. You looked at her with a sparkle in your eyes and then…then you dropped the bomb.
You told her about this guy, Julián, the boy that always tried to be your friend since you all were 8. Julieta knew him and she knew he was nice, but for some reason, you two never really included him in your games or other activities. Besides her siblings, it was only the two of you, and the brunette thought it was how it was meant to be.
But now, now you were here, telling her about how he had confessed his feelings for you, about how he had asked you out and how you accepted. When did this happen?! Why didn’t she know about it?!
“And yesterday, he asked me to be his girlfriend!” you said, jumping from the excitement.
“What?” Julieta blinked
“And I said yes!!!” you squealed
Poor Julieta only hugged you back when you pulled her closer and hide her face on your shoulder. She tried to act as if she was happy for you, as if it was the best thing you could have said to her. And when she saw Julián taking your hand to walk you home, she tried to smile as if she was proud of you. But the moment she got to her house, something broke in her.
She hadn’t gotten out of the kitchen since then and even her mother was concerned about it. After four hours, Alma tried to talk with her daughter, but Julieta assured her she was fine and only wanted some time alone. She didn’t want her mother to know that she just lost her other half.
Antonio: Do you and tía Julieta like Y/n?
Agustín: Well, of course! We're good friends!
The rat on Antonio's shoulder: *squeaky noises*
Antonio, gasping: YOU TWO HAVE A CRUSH ON Y/N!!

How your Madrigal s/o would react to seeing someone hurt you.

Protective Julieta mode ACTIVATED
This woman is a mother. You know exactly how she would react
The hands on the hips and the angry mom glare combo for sure
You would probably be just as scared as the poor soul that hurt you to be honest
“Excuse me?” Julieta says, suddenly appearing before you. Your muscles loosen just a bit as the figure of your lover blocks out the sun’s harsh glare. The drunkard that had attacked you turns his head, slowly, like he hasn’t quite processed what’s happened yet. “What are you doing, sir?”
The man doesn’t seem to have an answer. He looks between you, Julieta, and the wine bottle he clutches in swollen fingers. He looks back at Julieta, blinks very slowly, and then breaks down into a series of heaving sobs.
Your mouth falls open just slightly, watching the man that just hit you upside the head with a wine bottle that somehow didn’t smash on your jaw sink to the ground, his sudden crying fit racking his entire body. Julieta only crosses her arms and watches him, loosely holding a rolling pin you imagine she brought along just in case things got ugly. When a few more seconds pass and it’s clear that the man won’t be stopping soon, Julieta fixes her attention on you.
Her face instantly softens when she meets your eyes, tucking the rolling pin into the pocket of her apron. She carefully steps over the limp arm of the man and kneels at your side, checking your face for any injuries as she mutters to herself. You don’t know what to say that would sound romantic, and so the best thing you can go with is “How?”
Julieta looks at you with a warm smile genuine enough to crinkle up the corners of her eyes. “Dolores,” she whispers before going back to work making sure nothing is broken or bleeding.
Definitely will walk you back to the casita herself and serve you the best arepa you have ever eaten
Even if the injuries are minor, she just wants to ensure that you’re alright
You would be lying at the feet of some drunken stranger that you got in the way of, clutching your broken wrist when you hear it
You know that the woman in front of you hears it too from the look on her face. One of pure terror
When it thunders in Encanto, everyone knows that your dear Pepa is not in the best of moods. But when lightning follows it and there’s no rain that accompanies the storm, they know it’s serious
If Pepa isn’t handled soon, they might have another hurricane on their hands
The drunk woman knows this and tries to stumble away, fighting the wind that pushes her back towards you
You see a thick area of fast winds approaching, stopping right in the doorway of the building you work in. Eventually, the debris clears, and the winds dissipate enough to show the figure inside. Pepa, absolutely livid.
“What did you do?” She screams, but not at you. Her death glares are focused directly on the fumbling woman that dared to lay a hand on you. The woman opens her mouth, but if she says anything, you can’t hear it. The howling wind is all your brain can take. You watch Pepa’s mouth move in furious shouting like she’s been muted until she literally storms over to you, letting the wind make the woman fly out of the door and into the air. You assume she’ll drop somewhere in due time.
Pepa’s mood change once she reaches you is instantaneous. The winds slow to the speed of an average windy day, and the lighting stops. Even the thunder becomes more sparse, only rearing its head every now and then. She cradles your head, moving down your neck and shoulders until she reaches your tender wrist.
When you hiss at the touch on your wrist, the hurricane almost starts up again
You have to use your good hand and hold her face, softly brushing her ginger braid as you tell her that you’re alright
The clouds don’t go away, but Pepa helps you up and begins to walk you back home to Julieta
As you walk by, the Encanto citizens hesitantly stick their heads out of their doors, watching you two go by with smiles on your faces like nothing even happened
Once you’re good and healed - after an arepa or two - a large rainbow stretches over the town
This acts as a cue to the poor townsfolk that it’s safe to come out again
Nervous, nervous, nervous, nervous
He knows that he should go up there and say something, but at the same time enough people hate him already
A huge inner conflict has been going on since Dolores informed him that you got into a big argument with your boss that could escalate a bit too far
“But they probably hate me already-” “Do it for Y/n!” “What if it’s fine though and that was just Camil-” “Just do it, Bruno.”
Bruno still has no idea of what he should do by the time he’s standing outside the door to the bakery you work at
Taking a deep breath, Bruno throws his hood up onto his head, feeling more like Hernando than Bruno for just a moment. He reaches for the door knob before he realizes how stupid he must look. And so he backtracks once more and yanks off the hood, drumming the tips of his fingers together. They itch for some wood to tap on, but he can’t knock on anything without alerting you and your boss of his presence.
The second he hears a plate crash and shatter inside, Bruno makes his decision. He hops right onto the front step and throws the door open, catching you and your boss right in front of each other, hands frozen as they point directly at the face of the other. Your eyes lock on him, and Bruno feels the anxiety from before come back. He isn’t Hernando, who isn’t scared of anything. He’s Bruno, who tells the wrong prophecies and decided to live in the walls for ten years.
“I… Don’t… Do that.” Bruno finally gets out, finalizing his words with a confident nod. When he doesn’t get a reaction, he feels that confidence fade. “Please.”
You turn to your boss with a stern look in your eyes, reaching behind your back to untie your apron. You yank it up and over your head and let it drop on the floor, not breaking eye contact once. “I quit,” Bruno hears you whisper to her with a tight grin. He watches you spin on your heel and walk towards him, seeing the expression on your face shift from sure hatred to a softer, lovestruck feeling.
Bruno only offers a small smile in return, looking up at your boss and making his mouth a firm line. He nods again, as if agreeing with you, and grabs you by the hand to pull you from the room.
As soon as you get back outside, Bruno’s hunch returns and the usual nervous man you fell in love with is back
“Was that good? Did I do alright?” type vibes
You reassure him more than he reassures you
He would be so gentlemanly about it but also stern, sort of like Julieta
Say you bumped into someone and made them spill the contents of their bag all over the ground, and instead of letting you help they push you hard enough to make you hit the wall, your head smacking against the bricks
Félix was probably out shopping with you but he got distracted dancing with the little kids
Instantly at your side with his arm around your waist
“Hola,” Félix says. Simple yet effective, and it’s enough to make the person you bumped into back off a little bit.
“Woah, sorry. It’s their fault, they hit me first.” They argue. You see your husband quirk an eyebrow, sharing a mischievous smirk with you that was certainly passed down to Camilo.
“Oh, really? I thought my partner here was trying to help you clean up a mistake that you and them had an even contribution in?”
They are so clearly at a loss for words, they can just mutter a quick “sorry” and move on, gathering the rest of their dropped mangos from your arms. Félix and you watch them scurry away before Félix turns back to you with the familiar smile you fell in love with all those years ago.
First priority is checking to make sure you’re not hurt
The back of your head will bruise at most, but from there you’re completely fine
Lots of hugging and cheek kisses just to ensure that you’re okay after because of course there is
He would try really hard but the poor guy is so accident-prone he would probably get hurt more than you
But once he gets in-between you and your opponent, he rights himself and stands up tall
And Agustín is decently tall, so he’s probably got some height on this person
They definitely get scolded big-time, but he doesn’t try and fight back verbally or physically
I feel like Agustín would talk their ear off to the point that they leave without saying another word about it
He would instantly check back in on you, making sure that you’re okay and not hurt at all
Again, he’s probably in a worse shape than you are by any means
You two share some arepas on a picnic blanket out on a grassy hill that is completely free of bees
I’m so tired I don’t think I could write a good paragraph or so for him, plus I am clueless when it comes to writing for Agustín (sorry)

You woke up to the sound of pots and pans clanging in the kitchen, which didn’t seem right as the clock read 3 am. You noticed the bed felt cold as you reached over patting it down only to accidentally smack Agustín in the face. You stifled a laugh and kissed his cheek as he groaned in pain turning over onto his side, “Lo siento cariño, go back to sleep.”
You slowly got up wrapping yourself in a soft robe, rubbing the sleep from your eyes as you stifled a yawn. The casita guided you down towards the kitchen where you saw a familiar head of salt and peppered locks wrapped in a messy bun. Julieta glided around the kitchen it seemed she was preparing breakfast, she was supposed to be resting. You walked in slowly behind the figure wrapping your arms gently around her waist, chuckling as you felt the slight jump from startling her.
“Corazón what are you doing cooking so late? The sun will wake soon, and I don’t mean your sister” you joked giving her waist a light squeeze, you could see her cheeks raise in a smile. She turned her body to face you those big brown eyes looking at you with so much love, you felt your heart skip a beat.
“I have to make breakfast you know how cranky the kids can be in the morning, and I’m making an extra batch of arepas to bring into town.” She explained making another move towards the stove, but you firmly stopped her. She looked back at you her head titled in question.
You let out a sigh pulling her close to you once more, lacing your left hand with hers, as you held her chin with your right, “Mi Corazón, you need to rest you’ve been working yourself too hard. Let me take you back to bed.”
You could see her body wanting to sink into your embrace and allow you to carry her to bed, but the second she thought of resting. It’s been some time since she’s had an opportunity to sleep in, to not have to ensure everyone is ready for the day. She so desperately wanted to be able to relax, but it just wasn’t possible. Even the thought of taking time for herself caused the guilt settled heavily in her gut like a rock and you saw her bottom lip tremble. Her eyes began to well with tears, and before she could shed a tear you kissed her cheek lovingly.
“Hey, hey, what’s going on? Hmm… tell me what’s happening amor”, you spoke with worry you knew Julieta was an emotional person, but she so rarely showed how she felt. It often took some coaxing to get her to talk about what was really on her mind. So this came as a bit of a shock, you wanted to be there for her.
She didn’t speak up as her anxiety took over and her tears soaked your shoulder. All you could do was hold onto her as she let herself release whatever had been bottled up. Your heart broke watching your lover in such pain, you never wanted her to ever feel this way. Her happiness was your highest priority, and to know something brought her great distress made you feel awful. Wanting to move to a more comfortable position you guided her to the couch in the living area, and pulled her onto your lap. Her face buried in the groove of your neck while you rubbed soothing circles on her back. You felt her fists cling to your robe as if at any moment you’d be gone. After a length of time you could feel her breathing even out, her body shuddering with an occasional sniffle. You were almost too afraid to speak for fear of making her upset, but you knew the two of you wouldn’t be able to go on like this. She needed to be heard, she needed you.
Your voice barely above a whisper you spoke lovingly, “Amor…I see things have been hard for you lately, and I’m not always the best with words. But, I want you to know how important you are to me, I notice all of the hard work you put into this family. The amount of love that fills every meal you make. A heart as big as yours with enough love to feed a village.” You paused to grab her hand in yours bringing it up to your lips, you saw a faint blush on those freckled cheeks, “You do so much for everyone around you, don’t forget that you’re only one person. It’s okay to ask for help, it’s okay to need someone else. You can’t always be there, you won’t always be there, and that’s okay. The world will keep turning if Julieta takes the day to rest.” You stated fondly.
Julieta was looking at you like she did when you met for the first time. The love in her eyes flooded into your heart, she gazed at you in awestruck that you could read her so well. In such short time you’ve taken multiple occasions to show her how attentive you are. She gave you a small smile, nodding her head in understanding.
“I-I know I’ve been distant, always buried in my work. It is so hard to let myself be free when I have a duty to this community.” She took a deep breath looking to you for assurance, you nodded for her to continue. “ So many people rely on me it has become difficult to have time to myself, and being a mother at the same time. It feels as though I’m playing catch up everyday.” She ran a hand through her salt and peppered hair blowing out a puff of air in such a way it reminded you of a tea pot. “I know it appears that I have figured it out, b-but—ay! it eats me up inside when I can’t be there for everyone.”, She declared in a hurried manner like she was confessing her sins.
You comprehended just how much the older woman was holding back during times where she appeared the most level headed. All the times you caressed her arm it was accompanied by the familiar sting of a stove, the wavering looks of confidence anytime you complimented her. Her hesitation when it came to spending time with you or Agustín always finding a reason to be in the kitchen. It pained you considering all of the signs were right in front of your face, and you never were able to put two and two together. You made a mental note to discuss this with Agustín so the two of you could form a plan in the instance this happens again.
“Thank you mi amor for letting me know. That was incredibly brave, I’m so proud of you.” You praised her reaching her cheeks squeezing them, at the same time peppering her face with kisses. She let out a giggle reaching to pull you in for a kiss, her lips warm and soft. It was meant to be chaste but soon deepened, it has been so long since you shared an intimate moment together. You missed her so much.
Pulling away to look at her once more you “You know I will always be here for you. Agustín and I care for you so much, don’t ever think we won’t do our best to support you. You’re still strong even with a few extra hands. Let us take care of you sometimes.” You assured firmly. Studying her face waiting expectantly until she nodded her head, there was still a glimmer of guilt in those doe eyes, but for now she seemed to accept the decision.
Suddenly the moment was broken when casita rattled a clock across the floor causing Julieta to jump, you tried not to giggle. She had always been a bit of a scaredy cat. The tiny clock shook with a purpose alerting you that an hour had passed, and breakfast would need to be tended to.
Julieta let out a gasp, “Ay! Breakfast! I’m so behind I have to make sure everything is ready before mamà and the children wake up!” She jumped up running towards the kitchen only to be shoved back by casita. Falling into your lap.
“Hey!” She exclaimed trying to wrestle her way of your embrace “[y/n] por favor we will be very behind if someone does not start cooking!” This only made you tighten your grip on her.
“Ah! Corazón! What did we just talk about you need to sit and relax! Don’t worry about cooking today, I got this!” You boasted with confidence only to have Julieta stop squirming looking at you with snicker, amused and endeared by your claim
Turning to halfway to face you she raised an eyebrow at you unconvinced, in turn you gave her a look of faux hurt, hand cradled over your heart. “What? You don’t think I can cook this family a breakfast of their dreams? Well, my beautiful zorillo I will have to prove you wrong!” You clapped your hands with vivacity “casita!”
“Did you just call me a skun-”, before she could finish her sentence she let out a squeal when casita tossed you both from the couch, and into the air landing each of you safely on the tiled floor. You turned to Julieta whose hair was coming undone, a look of terror on her face. you bent over in laughter barely holding yourself up, she gave you a scolding glare.
“Oh! corazón!” You exclaimed trying to catch your breath in between laughs, “you should have seen your face, nice move casita!” Bending down you held your hand out to high five the flooring beneath you, patting them lovingly.
Meanwhile, Julieta watched on trying to not let you see that she found your antics absolutely adorable. She shook her head when your eyes met once again. Her hair appearing to have straightened out. She moved towards you reaching to pinch your cheek, you let out a groan, “Remind me to not let you hangout with my brother anymore” she grumbled.
All you could do was shrug happily, moving to tuck her tightly into your side while you walked into the kitchen. Rounding the corner, you guided her towards the kitchen island pulling out one of the stools. Nudging her into the seat a little more forcefully than you meant to, she simply rolled her eyes at you shooing you away and hopping onto the seat.
You reached into the storage closet right next to you pulling out a pink apron with a tiny face embroidered on it meant to resemble yours. Mirabel had gifted it to you for your birthday. It was surprisingly well loved, one of your favorite pass times was cooking in the kitchen, or mainly licking the spoon whenever Julieta offered.
“Alright! Get ready to have the best breakfast you’ve ever tasted!” You exclaimed flaring the apron dramatically as you tied it around your waist. Julieta simply watched her mouth parted, a semi curious look on her face, it was more of a grimace really. Backing up in her seat as you bounded towards her.
“First, I’m going to need something from my Sous-chef, Julieta if you would please give the chef a kiss for good luck!” You leaned over the counter turning your cheek in her direction.
The next thing you felt were gentle hands turning your head, and a soft kiss on your lips. You opened your eyes to see Julieta awarding you with a loving grin. “Gracias mi zorrillo—ow!” You shouted when Julieta pinched your nose “ay okay! Okay!” You held your hands up in surrender backing away from the counters, while Julieta let out a laugh.
Yes, you thought to yourself the world will still turn.

TW OBSESSIVE BEHAVIOR STALKING POSSESSIVE BEHAVIOR STOCKHOLM SYNDROME MANIPULATION ABUSIVE BEHAVIOR
❤ abuela understood you had severe anger issues but you were mostly calling all the time so she tried not to take you off because you were just a ticking time bomb your gift was relating to your anger which unfortunately would make a large burst of energy power in the whole town but it would also cause a Shockwave and severe pain for you she couldn't allow you to over use your powers so she had to punish you sometimes for you not to get angry she taught you some techniques by giving you a stress ball but it wouldn't work
💛Pepa and Félix they both love and care for you but I will not trust you whenever you're angry you swearing and making random bursts of energy make them kind of paranoid so when you calm down you're calm but they're still hesitant but they usually do try to calm you down cuz you do have small breakdowns afterwards scared that you're hurting them
💛 Dolores often here is your random surges of anger by your foul mouth and Constance swearing she's one of the first people that come for you afterwards especially when the townspeople use your anger to power up the town so you are constantly sleep deprived scared of being angry so you commonly don't go to town so Dolores just fill you in when they possibly need you which she never really does she doesn't trust the townspeople anymore
💛 Camilo was one of the main people that calm you down after this he will joke around and try to make you laugh but he's the one who walks around with you in town they would often not mess with you when you are with Camilo he gives every villager a glare he never really understood why they would mess with you so much so he would often give you a nice stress-free day
💛 Antonio gives you an emotional support animal so you'll be able to come down from your anger so you will be able to be treated better you love your family truly but you are so so very scared of them
💙Julieta and agustín they love you so much it's not funny they're often the people spoiling you after you have a severe breakdown then accidentally give yourself a bloody nose or broken leg by your random burst of energy so they'll be spoiling you and feeding you excetera they'll be often the most scary people to ever anger when you are around
💙Isabela and she often tried to call me down by using some foreign plants by using their chemicals inside she often fails and only gets you covered in pigment which makes you calm down and laugh she loves your laugh
💙lusia it's often the person dragging you away from whenever you try to beat up the villagers although she wishes you could go absolutely stick on them it wouldn't look good on their image so she often is the one putting you down and comforted you
💙Maribel refused is the towel and every time when they asked about you even when her random song comes up the music just randomly stopped and a dangerous look will go all over her face "we don't talk about mi rosa ANYWAY "
💚 Bruno will use his Future Vision to make sure you don't hurt anyone or him he refuses to let anyone get hurt in the family again so he will often spoil you and give you a bunch of things that will be stress or make you less
the fact that this man is older than BOTH my parents, but i still simp for him like no tomorrow is astounding 🥴
Hi soo Im totally in love with your writing because it’s so detailed and amazing. I was wondering if you could make an angst Camilo x gn reader where when Casita comes down and the reader is trapped inside. Camilo is super devastated and is practically going insane at this point, but then the reader is safe and happy ending :)
(No worries if you don’t feel like it, just feel like you would amazing at angst)

Camilo could barely breathe. The thick plumes of dust that billowed into the air obscured his vision and scratched at his throat, forcing painful coughs and hacking to wreck through his chest. His eyes watered as he choked, pounding a fist on his chest in an attempt to heave the itch away.
Casita had fallen. It’s rubble was all around him, crumbling like a fallen kingdom. He stumbled, sandals catching on sharp rocks and steps fumbling over smashed tile. There was a sharp ache in his wrist, reverberating in his bones with a dull throb. He cradled it with the other hand; he could only imagine it was from the fall.
He blearily looked around, squinting to see the silhouettes of his family through the soot. Pepa, on her knees, Antonio wrapped tightly in her arms. Dolores crouched on the ground, hands over her ears as the rubble continued to tumble down around her. Behind her, Félix softly rubbed her back. Luisa and Isabela were with Agustín, seemingly soothing him as he gripped his calf, wailing to Julieta (the latter of whom was with Mirabel). Abuela was floating around the groups, checking up on each person, concern cutting deep lines into her face.
One, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight, nine, ten. Eleven including him.
That just left...
One, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight, nine, ten.
With him, there should be twelve.
Where were you?
His heart almost stopped.
Camilo quickened his pace, his ankle crying out in pain as he slipped up over a piece of cracked concrete that jutted into his path.
“G-Guys?” He called. Isabela rushed over to help him closer to the family, face contorted in concern. He heaved, allowing Isabela to shift him onto the ground next to Dolores. Abuela frowned, softly smoothing Camilo’s hair, inspecting his face for any injuries.
“Abuela,” he groaned, rubbing his wrist, “where’s (Y/N)?” Abuela’s eyes widened, her head whipping over her shoulder to scan the group.
One, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight, nine, ten.
“Todos,” her voice was uncharacteristically wavering, tinged with an emotion Camilo couldn’t place. All he knew was that he didn’t like it, “who has eyes on (Y/N)?” The family went silent, eyes darting to each other as if they had just realised that they were together. It seemed like they were in sync the moment they noticed you weren’t with them.
Camilo’s stomach dropped.
“(Y/N) is gone?!” Pepa cried, swiftly rising to her feet with Antonio in her arms. It felt odd to see her so distraught with a clear sky above her head. Isabela gasped, turning to the destruction behind the group.
“Were they trapped inside?” Her dress tore as she ran back into the wreckage, hands groping blindly against the remains of Casita as she cried out your name, voice cracking more and more with each second that passed. Wordlessly, Luisa ran after her, shifting the fallen debris as much as she could.
“What if they’re injured?” Mirabel gulped, gripping on to Julieta. The latter could only stare, expression horrified. Camilo couldn’t help but wonder if she was assuming the worst. As if you were dead.
Camilo lurched, fingers curling into his hair. What if you had died? His heart hammered against his ribs, the noise of his family scrambling to find you fading into mere static that battered his skull. His vision blurred, eyes stinging. He felt physically sick, the nausea in his stomach burning an acrid coil in his throat.
He could barely express a coherent thought, mind running at a speed too fast for him to comprehend it. You could be dead. Breathe in, breathe out. Just like he told his mama. Breathe in, breath out.
“Camilo.” The young boy jumped, accidentally tugging at his hair. He turned to see Dolores, eyebrows knotted together in concern. Her round eyes were wide, staring deep into his own.
It was at that moment he realised he was crying.
He sniffled, wiping away the tears with the back of his hand. He shouldn’t be crying. He was Antonio’s older brother, the one who could find him wherever he would run off to. He was Pepa’s son, the one who could calm her down even on the stormiest of days. He was Camilo Madrigal, the one the town could rely on to keep on smiling.
But above all, he was yours.
The tears kept coming.
“Camilo,” Dolores pressed, hands resting on his shoulders to force him to face her. He let out a stuttered sob, hiding his face in his arm. She grabbed his hand, rubbing a thumb over his knuckles, “hermano, I can still hear them.” His head snapped up, gaze locking onto hers.
“You can?” She nodded, steely determination in her eyes.
“Yes. I can hear them speaking. They’re looking for us. I don’t think they’re in pain but we need to find them quick.” He nodded, pulling Dolores up by her arm. Her red dress was blackened with soot, the dirt underneath her nails tainting her usual disposition.
The two took off, Dolores leading them with an unmatched fervour. Camilo willed himself to ignore the way his ankle resisted the movement, with each step striking a pain that spiked deep into his body.
“(Y/N)!” He shouted, voice straining against his vocal chords. He had inhaled too much dust, and his throat burned at his voice. Dolores’ gaze sharpened.
“They replied. They’re close.” Camilo could only nod.
The labyrinth of ruins was immense, threatening to overwhelm him as Dolores deftly weaved through the refuge with a skill that was a little unfounded. There was concrete and tile obtruding as far as the eye could see, and the dust had not settled enough to allow Camilo any sort of comfort in knowing where they were going. Still, Dolores seemed to move with a pervading purposefulness, resolute in her actions.
“Camilo?” A weak voice called out. Dolores stopped, head turning in all directions.
“I heard them too.” Camilo spoke, letting go of Dolores’ hand.
“Camilo, D-Dolores!” The voice cried again, stronger this time.
“There!” Camilo followed the direction Dolores was pointing to see a figure stumbling out from behind a fallen wall. Camilo’s heart fluttered. It was you. Of course it was, you would never leave him.
“(Y/N)!” He ran over, sweeping you up into his arms and spinning you around in one smooth movement. You laughed, relief clear as day as he planted you back onto his feet. You wrapped your arms around his neck, pulling him in close. You smelled like soot and earth- quite a stark contrast from your usual scent, but Camilo was just overjoyed that you were here. You were here, in his arms, wonderfully real and wonderfully alive.
Somewhere in the back, of his mind he acknowledged Dolores saying she would notify the others before leaving, but he couldn’t take his attention off of you for even a second.
“Have you been crying?” You questioned, eyeing the red rims around his eye. He just nodded, cupping your face in his hands.
“I was so scared.” You grinned, eyes watering.
“I was too.” He peppered kisses all over your face, from your forehead to your chin, and everywhere in between. You giggled, moving your hands to interlace his fingers with yours. He finally placed the last kiss on your temple with an unnecessarily loud sound, moving to check the rest of your body.
“Are you hurt? Do you have any injuries?” You shook your head, pulling him up to face you again.
“I’m okay, now that I’m with you.” He breathed out, awestruck wonder filling his chest. There you were, with grime dirtying your features and bruises littering your skin and yet you were still positively stunning. If he had to spend the rest of his life chasing after you, he would do so in a heart beat.
“Yeah, me too, mi vida.”
