Hello, my name is Gael!

I am a lady cartoonist that went to college for animation and since graduating I’ve been a part of a whole bunch of projects - from internet media companies to solo YouTubers to my own merch to online fandoms, I’ve found myself in a lot of places for my work. My favorite things to create are comics and short-blurb joke images, but I also love narrative storytelling and character design. Right now, I work on YouTube thumbnails for my favorite Theme Park Podcast (Annual Pass) and a wonderful dude named Ray Narvaez Jr. over on Twitch!

I live with my fiancé (who I will refer to as Babbus) in the PNW and we’re getting married this Summer ~ He’s my light and joy and my biggest muse, you’ll recognize him on my blog as a large-horned Tiefling character of the same name next to my own Persona, Lich Queen Gael, when he’s not being my partner-in-crime in other fandoms.

What Kinds of Things do You Like?

Well, y’all found my blog for a reason - whether you were here since the beginning for my AH/RT designing and worldbuilding to my own worldbuilding with LQG/DPB to various other tidbits, y’all know I like many things. What fandoms can you expect from this blog? Things including, but not limited to:

YouTube Gamers (AH, GameGrumps, Jack, Mark, etc) - my radio for the day. Especially loving the variety of my channels between game play, horror game lore, theme park and history documentaries, and whatever the hell

One Piece (constantly on the hunt for more good good Law FanArt and uh…may be trying something a little new for NaNoWriMo this year…?) I just want more of my Trash Husband

Video Games - These shift and change depending on what I’m playing at the time to be honest, but some of my solidified favorites are Stardew Valley, Disney Dreamlight Valley, Minecraft, Pokemon, the Phoenix Wright series, Monster Hunter, Yakuza, and small indie games that I discover. My sisters and I bonded over video games growing up so they hold a special place in my heart, always.

Critical Role - I’ve started watching pretty regular since C2E1, and I’m watching all of C3 while slowly catching up on C1. Maybe you’ve seen me in the old art reel a few times?

Theme Parks - I’ve got a deep love for the way that theming and storytelling comes into play in the Theme Park world, its a sort of special niche of mine that I hold dearly since my grandmother was a cast member and the joy of theme parks runs deep in my family

TTRPG’s - I do love me a good tabletop system! I have a lot of games I’ve played in the past, and many more ideas for the future. I always love a good character, whether they start out as a joke and come completely into their own (Riss) or they just remain a silly protagonist for the sake of keeping the mood of the table light (Bobert Rossington, Esq., who beats the devil out of his enemies) I always love the design elements that can come from a simple system that can lead to incredible character development and choices.

Food - what more is there to say? I love food.

But ultimately, overall? Expect art and jokes. Art and jokes to me are the spice of a good smile, and even if you’re having the worst of days, sometimes all it takes is a smile from a good post to get you though. I want for my art to give people joy, for that in turn gives me joy. And that’s why I do what I do.

Do You Take Commissions?

I do! On occasion. They have to open up and I can garner a bit of a long waitlist if I do - but because I don’t require payment until the work is complete, all you gotta spend is an email and some patience. Right now they aren’t open due to time constraints, previous commission queue and contract work, and I can’t say when they’ll open back up again. But I’ll make an announcement here if they do!

Do You Do Anything Else Aside from Fine Dining Art and Breathing?

I do! Strangely enough. I have a Twitch channel that I sometimes haunt playing games/doing art with friends of mine (under my same pseudonym) and I’m at the gym 4 days a week for HIIT/weightlifting. I enjoy a good podcast, a good book, and binging Netflix. I love animation as a medium and comics and stage plays, I’m getting into NHL/hockey when my gym shows me games. Variety is the spice of life, after all!

So, there ya go. Maybe we have more similar interests than you think? In any case, thank you for coming along for the ride, and hope you enjoy what we have together!

You'd expect a Yapper like me who enjoys sharing what they like to reblog more things about their interests, but unfortunately for me, I have this bad habit of liking and saving posts that appealed to me before for later with the mindset of "I'll share this once I can form my words better!" (bc I like leaving notes esp on this platform via tags), and I so happen to be a Very forgetful person so most of the time I never get around to sharing.

But whenever I am NOT being forgetful + capable of forming my commentary well on the spot, well... I am chatty, on the reblog grind, and you can probably tell that I am very interested in the particular subject.

okay so

ydyd obsidian is basically an AH minecraft AU made by me and @thedeaddandy. it's sorta a fake season based on achievement hunter's recent ydyd run (season 5). it pretty much started from a series of asks she sent me, and we just kept going back and forth with ideas and headcanons we made up for fun.

somehow, it escape our circle a bit and inspired some cool-ass fanart, which is likely the sketches you saw from @crazygreattoo. so yeah, we're just making it up as we go, and i think going through the tag on my blog chronologically is the best way to view it ^_^

blackrock 10 year retrospective

so! it’s been. ten years since the blackrock chronicle started. let’s talk about that

i got minecraft in august 2012, right around the 1.3 update, after a camp friend showed it to me. like any other minecraft-playing 12 year old in 2012, i immediately took to the internet and discovered minecraft videos and parodies. one of these was Screw The Nether, the singer of which one of my friends identified as martyn. i watched martyn’s tekkit series (rip) and didn’t recognize one of the names on his waypoints: rythian. naturally, i looked up rythian on youtube, and found this little series called The Tekkit Adventure.

the rest is kind of history.

this series has meant so much to me over the last ten years. from making real life friends because i was reading fanfic and they asked what i was reading to desperately trying to explain the series to friends in 7th grade art to one of my friends making me a charm bracelet with blackrock themed charms for the holidays to the tumblr explanation of the finale to all the different yog servers ive been in and now being a fandom boomer in modern day mcyt spaces. i still cry watching the final episode of season 2. i still only really know the lyrics to zoey’s sk8rboi parody and not the original. frankly, im a lesbian because of this series. i had a MASSIVE crush on zoey as a kid and barely even knew it, and as an adult, im just sitting here like “ah.” she was some of the first lesbian rep i’d seen Basically Ever and i cannot thank her enough for that.

to celebrate, i dug through all my old sketchbooks and notepads to bring you all the blackrock/yogscast fanart i could find from the last ten years. i’m sure there’s PLENTY that’s missing. it’s all under the cut, chronologically listed. cheers, blackrock fandom. we’re still kickin’.

YES. after like, ALL THE JOJO. All the main storyline. Them and maybe yasugap??? Or Dinopans?? But trurly. Them. They are the sun and moon I think from the outsider view. You know how it goes. If the grief anchors your feet. You know what to do.

I acutally shipped them before reading PHF for the aesthetics I suppose, also that fight with Illuso!!! But they weren't my otp I think. Also I quite disliked Giorno and just didn't think about him. I read PHF for Fugo and oh god. I didn't expect that chapter to be called The Soldier in Love but okay i'm reading JJBA after all. Also all througout (? Idk how to type HELP) the book. The way Fugo think about Giorno. Also I kin Fugo and I would kill for a s/o like GioGio so there is that. I just think that it's not a ship just for the fanarts and for the sweet bits, they are here but dudeee. The way they compliment each other. And I think the fandom is the opposite of jotakak fandom (in it's worse days). I just think that they compliment each other like no other jojo ship. Giorno is kinda a Kaworu to the Shinji of Fugo. It makes sense trust me. I have an OC that is a fanchild of theirs.

CANON. WHERE DO I START. So the fight with Illuso is cool and I think Fugo would admire him just bc of that. (my fanon shit: Fugo after the thing with Narancia would be like "I can't be gay, that was just friends, I am sometimes a girl sometimes a boy and sometimes everything outsidee but thst is irrelevant to the case of my sexuality." So he would think Giorno thing is platonic too). What then??? Oh yea I think they would interact more doing Vento Aurero with all their nerd shit. Thinking about poems and shit. Like best bros do. Okay so another point od canon: OURPLE HAZE FEEDBACK!!!!! I didn't expect it to be this gay. I loved when Fugo just trhought about Giorno. You know like friends admire homies. (They wouldn't call each other homie or bro but I use them just because). But oh god the last chapter. HOW IT SHOWS FUGO. AND GIORNO. IF GRIEF ANCHORS YOUR FEET. HALF A STEP. I loved it. Plain and simple. Heart to heart. From that moment they... Them... Slowly but yeah. Oh ah. Oooh/pos. Please accept my body, my heart and my soul. Who wants to propose to me like that. They are scratching my brain pretty good. Good colors....

Fandom: hmmmmmmmmm trans Giorno. This is I belive coded in canon but that's for another day. I do like how Fugio fans usually don't flatten the characters!!!!! Personally I do not like the cottagecore aspect of some fanart but that's personal (cottagecore for another post). Unpopular and personal opinion: Genderfluid Fugo. Bc i'm genderfluid. Matching colors schemes>>>> generally.... Love them... Also I like how some people portray Fugo as repulsed by touch bc yeah that's often me. Yeah.

IDK If You're Fan of Steven Universe or Not But Anyway I'm just Saying That Happen Back in 2015 Where They Literally Bully Her and Drove Her Suicide(Yeah,Suicide is Seriously Tragic) But I'm Glad That She's Safe (I Probably Know That Steven Universe Fandom Had Back to Normal After 2015 Incident)

Ah, I've heard of this.

Yeah, I'm a bit of a Steven Universe fan, by which I mean that I've seen all the episodes of both series and the movie a few times, have a few of the comic book compilations, a handful of collectibles ((particularly a Garnet Funko Pocket Pop, a handful of blind bag figurines, and a plush doll of kid Steven)), and the Minecraft Mash-up Pack. I even went to a meet-and-greet at a local convention where Steven's VA was attending, so I think it's safe to say I'm somewhat a fan of the series.

I remember hearing about the time the fanbase bullied a girl to the near tragic results just because they didn't like that she didn't draw Rose Quartz skinny enough in a relatively cute piece of fanart where Steven is being embraced by both of his parents. Like, I get that the series has a fantastic wide range of shapes and sizes for characters, and that's awesome, but attacking someone for not being 100% on model is just ridiculous. She didn't draw Rose like that just to mess with people, like, I'm pretty sure the art piece was made before we really knew that much about Rose, and she just wanted to give Steven both his parents in this drawing.

I do not condone bullying of any sort, whatsoever. I was bullied a lot in my youth for being "weird" and "different" ((before everyone knew I was Autistic, then it was just for that)), and it still affects me well over 25+ years later, like, that stuff sticks with you after you grow up. You still feel that criticism and panic.

I wasn't in the era where the internet was as bad as it is now, so my bullying was at school and things like my drawings on paper would be vandalized or crumpled or stolen and thrown back at me wadded up, sometimes with spit on it or something gross added to it. I can't imagine getting bombarded with literal death threats anonymously, just because people don't like your art style that's probably still developing. Learning to master different body shapes takes a while, too.

People are so critical of art these days. I know that people do exist that are intentionally trying to draw pre-established characters with canon designs as wrong as possible just to get a rise out people, but a lot of the time, it's just a new or underdeveloped artist who's still trying to get the hang of how to adapt to thier current abilities. Sometimes, it's people adapting a favorite character as a sort of drawn-cosplay for themselves when they don't look a lot like them at all. Sometimes it's just someone wanting to share thier interpretation of a character based on how they perceived it in their POV.

Like, yeah, if someone is purposely going out of thier way to draw a character as wrong as possible and repeatedly blows off any criticism or tips, and continues to do so just to spite people, then yeah, that's pretty messed up too, but just let people make thier art how they want if it's not actively hurting anyone.

Especially if you're in a fanbase for a series that constantly sings praises of diversity and loving people as they are and encourages to solve conflicts peacefully.

How very Un-Steven of y'all involved to drive a kid to nearly offing themselves over a drawing.

(< highly recommend them! love their COTL fanart and they have a fic for it going on that i havent read yet but i heard its great!)
