making a post about the front hill gong cousins and the order of their birth (?) from eldest to youngest 1. gong huanyu- he's the most obvious eldest, it was never explicitly said iirc if they chose huanyu because he was the oldest out of his cousins despite shangjue being arguably more capable than him. he's eldest gege that's for sure

2. gong shangjue- shangjue being the second oldest fits, he is significantly older than ziyu and yuanzhi. in addition to that, the pressure of him choosing a bride and continuing the line of the gongs is brought up a few times in the first few eps, he's at his prime and he needs to get married asap like huanyu

3. gong zishang- putting her as the 3rd eldest only because I cant see her being older than shangjue, zishang acts like she's younger than shangjue. there was also never an occurrence where they told her to get married like shangjue quickly, she never faced the same pressure of matrimony (maybe it has something to do with her being a woman). idt she ever called shangjue gege though lol

4. gong ziyu- the second youngest, having to call huanyu and shangjue gege, zishang jiejie and yuanzhi didi is self-explanatory. ziyu and yuanzhi should be closer in age, in the flashback where kid ziyu was trying to give kid yuanzhi mooncakes (or was it ricecakes?) he couldn't be any older than seven and yuanzhi couldn't be any younger than five years old.

5. gong yuanzhi- ah yes, everyone's fave youngest. one look at him and you would just know he's the youngest, he exudes the favorite grandchild of an asian family vibes iykyk. he may be the golden boy of the gongs but when his older cousins use their age to coax him into respecting them, you're reminded that he's still a little meow meow really.

not adding zishang's younger brother since he was not really relevant to me, BUT gong shangjue's younger brother lang should've been older than ziyu by either a year or a month. if lang lived, would he and ziyu have been close since they're both very close in age.
