1. SILVIO
Listed in the dictionary as the extreme antonym of a cheap room. The type that requires reserving years before in advance because nowhere on earth will you get a better view of dolphins porking. And forget about sheets being washed daily, they get completely replaced three times a day. You feel like a billion dollars after one night's stay, which is great because you've surely spent half that amount on said stay.
2. JIN
The reason this ranking exists. Luxury walls, flooring, bedding. Other hotel suites wish they could be Jin's room. Catching your reflection on any of the surfaces automatically increases libido. The sheets are infused with heady compounds commonly found in massage oils. You can see the mini-bar no matter where you're standing in the room. The fucking complimentary lollipops.
3. YVES
The crown canopy alone is so iconic that it demands a premium, but who wouldn't want to treat themselves to a stay in such a chic and manicured suite? Its amenities rival any high-end spa. There's amenities for actual cats. You go in clean and come out shiny.
4. CHEVALIER
You're paying for the books and you're paying for the balcony. If you face the bookshelves it smells like roses. If you face the roses, it smells like books. It's obvious Chevalier did not put this room on the market, nor did he tamper with it to such inutile effect.
5. KEITH
The premiere suite for introverts who simp for succulents. The bright and refreshing color palette is sure to uplift your spirits, and if that doesn't do the trick, who doesn't like fiddling with an actual telescope and accidentally breaking it? The ceilings are higher than you'd find in most suites, making it perfect for taller guests. There's always a fresh galette waiting for you every day.
6. NOKTO
A room that enticingly strays into the realm of maximalism. Staying in this suite with all its souvenirs and foreign effects lets you feel like a globe-trotter while you're getting ravished into the luxurious mattress. No single occupants allowed.
7. LEON
You're paying for the books and you're paying for the sheets. Mostly the sheets because some of the books are a little dusty. Room Service specializes in meat dishes. The windows grant one of the most breathtaking sunsets you'll see anywhere.
8. LICHT (palace room)
Despite the cool palette, it evokes calm and happy feelings. The wolf motif means lots of fur accessories. Just, uh, ignore the collar in the drawer. Even if you're into it. That's not for you. Yeah, this is probably another room that wasn't listed by its owner.
9. RIO
The view, the view, the view. For some reason Rio comes with the suite. 24/7 butler. Partway through your stay and after receiving world-world-class service, your understand why the convenience fee was so much higher than what you paid for the actual room. It's also obvious that this experience is worth far more than what it was listed for.
10. LUKE (cottage room)
A cozy stop on any b&b tour. The owner asks you do not disturb the teddy bears on display. If you find that the teddy bears disturb you, you are free to sleep facing the walls while enjoying the everpresent fragrance of honey.
11. SARIEL
The perfect room to spend an entire day in while reading or cuddling or being spooky and goth. There's spare glasses everywhere. You can see how some of the seemingly-ordinary fixtures could easily be turned into props for more adult-oriented activities. There's also ale flasks everywhere. ...Who put this room on the market? (whip-cracking sounds)
12. LUKE (palace room)
It definitely feels like you're staying in someone's personal bedroom and not an officially sanctioned suite. If you stayed in the cottage room before this, you might even think one of the teddy bears followed you. Well, that's just what they do.

1. CLAVIS (treasure and contraband room)
A national secret too dangerous to list. Expensive based purely on the illicit contents and sheer volume of shovels, which apparently add up.
2. LICHT (cottage room)
A national secret too secret to list. Also if "Simple and Clean" was a physical room. No one should know it exists, even though everyone probably knows it exists. If it were on the market, it'd be impossible to book. It's so picturesque it makes you want to cry. Most of the hypothetical extra charges on the hypothetical bill go toward maintaining the field of flowers surrounding the property.
3. CLAVIS (palace room)
A national secret too dangerous to list, but there have been rumors that you can stay for free if you manage to get past all the locks and traps and tell the owner how much you love him.
4. GILBERT
A national secret too dangerous to list, and there have been rumors that it undergoes regular renovations ever since the owner got engaged. It's the kind of room that makes you think "yeah, that'd probably be expensive as hell to stay in," but it seems the owner doesn't care for pricing things out of the reach of the masses, so that's why it's ranked so far down. If the room were available.

This is an interesting deal. It's an 1882 brick house in the legendary Canteen District of North Platte, Nebraska and it's a former Airbnb that is being sold completely furnished. 4bds, 2ba, $333K.

Living Spaces for Artists: Interest Survey
Hello tumblr, my name is Arina, and I have considered for several years now creating a living space in the US for artists and creatives alike just starting out on their respective journeys. My idea was to purchase a large house and rent out rooms for incredibly cheap, so that the struggling artist would have a means to live on their own while they focus on their career. In my search for a starter house for myself, I stumbled across two properties that would help me realize this dream even sooner than I realized. However, as with all things, nothing is perfect, and there are a few caveats. The first is that both properties are in the northern United States, which means hot summers and harsh and cold winters. The second is that one is located far from metropolitan areas, and are mostly surrounded by small towns. It would not be impossible to find a regular job in these areas, but may require a commute.
Both properties are in need of renovations. There are several rooms that are structurally sound, which I would be willing to rent out in the case of emergency, but for the most part the buildings would not be available until at least mid-next year.
For both properties, I would rent the rooms out at $200/month, and yes that would include utilities. You would be allowed up to two people per room, and two pets per room. Property descriptions below the cut.

The first property is located in Wisconsin, near the Great Lakes and the Canadian border. From the looks of it, this was a caretaker home for the elderly, and as such has handicap access and multiple entrances. My idea was to rent out the top floor to residents, and then airbnb the bottom floor rooms. From what I’ve been told this area is high in tourism for outdoor activities and the like, so I may even be able to make an arrangement to have a few people have free room and board in exchange for maintaining the rooms, or cooking or cleaning up after guests. (This is a rough work in progress idea.)
As you can see, most rooms still need renovations, but several rooms can be considered move-in ready.

Has a large functional kitchen, and walk-in cooler, which would allow multiple people to use it at once, or hypothetically, sustain a semi-hotel set up.

Several bathrooms are functional and in working order, but would need to be shared. There is one bathroom for every two rooms, and I would need to decide whether to convert a couple bedrooms into bathrooms to accommodate everyone, but at the moment, consider these like dorms where you have to share bathrooms.

This next property is located in Chariton Iowa, about an hour south of Des Moines. Finding a job here wouldn’t be too difficult, though it would require a bit of a commute.
As far as I can tell the whole building is in need of renovations, so this wouldn’t be move-in ready until next year. I would also need to convert a couple rooms into bathrooms, because having 4 bathrooms between 15 rooms isn’t feasible for many people.

And that just about sums it up! This post is for me to see if anyone else is even interested in my idea, but if no one bites, then I will likely buy these properties to convert them into a bed and breakfast/motel type situation.
Or, if people buy these properties before me, I’ll find a smaller property to start small with my idea.

my partner and i became homeless in aug 2021, first living in hotels and airbnb for two months and have been staying in our friends' garage since late october. the homeowner now wants us out of the garage this month, but our friends have offered to let us use part of their barn instead.
we need financial help with renovating the barn to make it more livable. i have a part time job, so now i have some income to cover our food, pet care, meds, etc. and will be saving money for this slowly. i am working the absolute maximum i can with hypermobility / burnout. meanwhile my partner is just trying to not drive off a bridge while dealing with chronic illness, pain, trauma, and urgent dental needs. life is stupid but we are alive.

here is the barn in its current state. all the hay was removed, then we removed heavy mats from the floor, scraped mud off, have swept a lot of the floors and walls clean.
we are hoping to raise around $2,000 total which will include sealing one door, renovating the other into a normal door, primer and regular paint, ceiling and insulation, and flooring. someone very kindly already purchased us a portable camping toilet since plumbing can't be added.
a single bedroom in basically any city costs about $1k a month, and require down payment and often last months rent as well. that would easily surpass the cost of this renovation. so, i believe this will be worth it once completed, and from here i will be able to continue at my job and focus on medical care moving forward. we have been in unstable housing for years and now finally have some friends to build a support system with. also, our pets really love this area, and none of us really want to take another road trip to nowhere.

LA-1; Panama
The first place I arrived at was Panama, and wow is that place beautiful. The country stretches out from Costa Rica to Colombia, keeping a distinguished separation between the Caribbean Sea and the Pacific Ocean. Panama’s population is a substantial 3.8 million people (while their capital Panama city only has a little over 475,000 people), although they do get lots of vacation visits from people all over the world. For some people it may be hard to communicate with the indigenous people of Panama because most of them only speak Spanish, although there are quite a few people that also know English. Another good thing about Panama being inclusive, is that they take U.S. dollars as well as Balboa.

When I got to Panama I immediately wanted to go get some traditional Panamanian food. The national dish of Panama is Sancocho de Gallina, which contains a big piece of chicken with different kinds of vegetables. The dish also has potatoes, yuca, plantains, and corn on the side as well as little spices such as oregano and hot sauce. There is also culantro, which do not confuse it for the regular cilantro that we know about. Culantro has a slightly sweeter and stronger flavor than cilantro. Sancocho can also be eaten as a soup, filling the pot with chicken stock rather than straining it and placing it on a plate. Which I think I would rather try Sancocho as a stew rather than the former.

After I had something to eat, I went to my airbnb that I had reserved many months before. The apartment complex is in the heart of Panama City with wonderful views of Panama Bay and the city life. The Airbnb I stayed at was very reasonably priced based off how many amenities there were and the pristine furniture filling the intricate layout. The price per night was $197 USD, and they require a two night stay minimum. So after the service and cleaning fees, the price for both nights was a cool $541. If the price seems a bit far-fetched for you, let me tell you that you get what you pay for and even more. This destination contains a free washer and dryer in the unit, a 55” HDTV with the basic streaming services such as HBO Max, Netflix and Amazon Prime. It also includes air conditioning, security cameras, wifi, and a private balcony with seating. The kitchen is full with appliances and silverware as well, including a stainless steel oven/stove, refrigerator/freezer, and even a dishwasher which can be hard to come by. I will post some of the views from the stay because they were absolutely astonishing.

A fun little fact is that Panama’s official flower is the Dove Orchid, also known as The Flower of the Holy Spirit or Peristeria Elata. The flower originally came to the latin country in the early-mid 1800’s. William J. Hooker named the white flower with the name of Peristeria because the greek meaning of that word is Dove, due to the petals forming to look like the bird. The reason for the eerie name “The Flower of the Holy Spirit’, is that before the flower blooms it looks like a praying monk which is totally understandable like I can totally see it. The flower also only blooms during the early fall months of August and September.

Story time...
My Aunt owns and operates an "Elderly Home" business...an "airbnb" for old folks...This past week I have been helping her out because she is between Healthcare Workers and she simply can't do every thing by herself seeing as she has 6 elderly folks staying there. So...seeing as I am childless, wifeless, lifeless really...and once upon a time, I was an EMT/Paramedic, I went to help! I am doing all the stuff that requires just labor...I make the beds, I sweep and mop the floor...I clean the bathrooms, I take out the trash...ya know, a Janitor/Custodian! I haven't been this SAD in a long damn time. WHY? Every morning as I am making the beds and cleaning their rooms, I am surrounded by pictures of their dead spouses/kids/grandkids and for one patient...nothing at all. Why are they here? Why aren't they LIVING with their kids and grandkids? We all come into this fucked up universe bloodied/scared/soiled...WHY do we have to go out of it in the same way??? For the majority of the Elderly, they also go out ALONE. I don't want this for my Mother. I don't want that for me but more than likely I'll have it worse because it's just me but...that's on me! Do me a favor and call your Parents (if they are still around) and tell them that you love them! Call them once a week just so they can hear your voice. I've been helping my Aunt for a week now and not one visitor for any of the patients. Everyone DIES. Everyone doesn't have to die ALONE or LONELY. Call your parents...Facetime them. I'm going to go to Florida next week to see my Mom. She's in her 70's...everyday is a gift to this most undeserving Son of hers. 🥹
