Summary: Soldier #10642 was the top of her troop. When her performance caught the eye of the higher ups, she was taken in as a sniper assassin under the name Agent #13. Reluctant, Eris agrees to the mission on the promise that she was someday get to see her daughter, Johanna, again. Somehow.

It is not complicated tbh, since Ria and Aizen do make up quite easily once Ywach is defeated.

Ria does forgive him and ofcourse, she cant stop loving him, no matter how much she tries.

His love for her and his child only grows stronger when he is away from them in Muken. He yearns to see his child. He can sense him but he cant see him while in Muken.

When he is released in TYBW, Takeru is almost two so honestly he doesnt have much sense. But for their story, I just headcanon that Aizen and Ria leave Seritei together and go back to live in Las noches where he works on repairing their relationship.

So to answer your question, its a decent relationship with his first born. They live happily ever after as a family. :D

She is absolutely fighty, even after getting taken down a peg some time ago. She’s fiercely protective of her friends and family, and she’ll shoot someone down verbally for talking shit about them, or flat out deck them if they’ve been enough of a toxic presence to them. She’s one hell of a fighter, and was made to be a warrior, so she’s absolutely going to destroy someone if it comes to blows. For Seriyan my Draenei... eh. She doesn’t like to fight much at all, and prefers to help people without violence. That said, she has no tolerance for useless schools of thought: IE, bigotry, willful ignorance. She’s the smartest of my characters, and is willing to dress someone down verbally if they’re being “useless” minded. (She is... not exactly the most tactful person.)For Clio, my Viera. She prefers NOT to fight, despite being exceptional at it. Unless you’re a non Populares Garlean, her first reaction to you trying to pick a fight with her is going to be ignoring you, then asking you to stop, then put you on the floor when nothing else works. I left the Grove about a week ago to join Ras in the woods. With Hira's betrayal uncovered, I no longer feel that I can remain in the city safely. I'm unsure if our current situation is safe either, but as long as the necromancer that plagued our hall is at large, we can't return to my dwelling.

For now, Ras and I are occupying a cave tucked away in the forest. It's a remarkably clean one, formed from gray stone. We cover the opening with leaves and other foliage to conceal our presence, which I'm told we can easily break or burn if we need to escape. For food, Ras hunts and I bring back leftovers from the hall and for water, there is a creek not too far. I'm lucky that I can still supply myself from the hall, as living purely off the wilderness would be a very difficult life for me.

Ras is used to it, but he has been exceedingly accommodating to me. He built me a privacy screen and he comforts me at night when I hear the growls of the jungle stalkers or the clicks of the giant spiders. One of the spiders crawled into my bedroll a couple of nights ago. I shrieked so loudly, startled as I was, that it scared the poor thing and it fled. Ras laughed at me. I'm so grateful for him.

There's a story I've been reading to Ras, called Janet and the Wild Tree. Janet is an actress from Divinity's Reach who is dropped into the heart of the Maguuma Jungle when her airship crashes, kind of like the nobles rescued from Verdant Brink. Janet must survive on her own until she meets a handsome but uncouth sylvari named Torbyn, a Pale Reaver who lost his unit. They agree to help one another escape the jungle...

...and that's as far as we've gotten. The author, Gillette Hovens, has likely never met a sylvari in her life. She treats Torbyn and the Pale Reavers like they're exceptions to a pacifist sylvan culture, willing to pick up guns and fight for peace, as if there weren't thousands of sylvan soldiers battling both Mordremoth and Zhaitan. Also, we can't read ten pages without his "carved oaken abs" being mentioned. It's not as if I could forget that he's attractive. That said, I like Janet a lot. She's fun and determined, kicks some tail when she needs to, but she has a vulnerable side where she's been estranged from her parents due to her career choice and she wonders if she'll get to see them again. The plot itself seems very promising too, as far as copper adventure novels go. It's a good escape from the circumstances that have brought Ras and I here.

We finally talked about Ainbertach. How it happened, how Ras felt. The courtiers ambushed Laecin, Gabhar, and him in their home. They drugged Ras and killed Laecin. Gabhar fled. When we talked I was angry at him for leaving Ras and Laecin to suffer, but had he not fled to the Source and told us what happened, we would have been too late to save Ras. So I must forgive Gabhar.

Ainbertach drove stakes through Ras's body and perched Laecin's head upon him. The courtier whispered lies, tried to make Ras into his pet Nightmare monster. He was held in such pain and despair. He would have fallen had we not found him when we did.

Ras asked me if he was weak. He cried as he confessed his pain to me. I've never seen him cry before, not even at Laecin's funeral. My poor mushroom.

I said that I killed Ainbertach. Apparently, I hadn't told Ras that once this past season. It comforted him greatly to know that this sylvari who tormented him so could never do it again. I can't believe I left him guessing this long. Though unintentional, it was cruel.

I need to embrace the fact that I am a being that is capable of killing. I need to remember that I kill to protect life from the people and things that seek to destroy it and who won't be compromised with. I am not evil because I kill. No one is evil because they kill.

It is the reasons why that make us good or evil.

I do not have to like killing. I do not have to embrace it or accept it as the first solution, but I do need to recognize it as a viable and sometimes optimal solution. Like Ainbertach, there are enemies who won't back down until they are dead.

By choosing to stay, I am choosing to fight. I am choosing to protect myself, protect my coworkers, friends, and family, and protect the Grove. I am choosing to suffer for what I believe in, choosing to suffer for waving the banner of Verdance because I believed in our cause.

Sometimes, I'm angry. I didn't break the rules myself. I didn't know until Hira showed up with her cease and desist and Oaken dropped the Sovereign bomb. I didn't do anything except choose the wrong side in the eyes of the law. And if I stay, I must be willing to pay for it.

Twice, I've been asked to stand and suffer. For Ruinali, then for the sanctity of our hall. Twice, I have had to watch others suffer with me. I've had to watch Del bear it until she passed out and recover from a broken arm, hating herself and her perceived uselessness. I've had to watch Poly slip into revenge fantasies as Grom clings to life (luckily, he's been doing much better). I've had to watch Cantair return to us only to lose himself to a fugue state.

And that thing what was it the white mantle spirit it wanted to rape me it wanted to rape us and i couldn't run i couldn't or it would have hurt volaine but i felt its stupid pleasure bullshit with the pain and i hate it i hate it it made me hard it touched me i had to stand there and take it and i hate it im glad its fucking dead or whatever the fuck happens to ghosts rest in godsdamned pieces[The last phrase is scratched into the page hard enough to leave an impression.]

At least within the coalition, I don't have to be passive. I won't be passive. If one thing is certain, Sovereign wants us to despair. He wants us to fear him and everyone who works for him. Perhaps he's just like Ainbertach, power-hungry and lecherous, but even if that's not the case, I think that the most powerful thing we can do is deny him what he wants. Ainbertach doesn't get Ras. Sovereign doesn't get our sorrow (and he doesn't get Ras either. Or anyone).

To that end, I must put aside my anger. Until this is over, the chain of command stays and so it is my duty to keep up morale. As we are asked to suffer, I must be there to support everyone, on and off the field.

Yet I know that it can't come only from me.

There will be times when I falter, but I can trust my guildmates. Sadrienne, Bakari, Airia, Lock, Riath and Trisbaine have all shown that. Perhaps...it's alright to be angry?  Just not angry at the coalition. None of us asked for this. We all believed that we were doing the right thing.

...But if it was the right thing, wouldn't the accusations against us be false? No one is denying them. In fact, some confirm them. Likely...the greater good is more complex than I thought.

Or rather, we have to make a choice between ourselves and the greater good. What happened to Rhoeta suggests that. Our Legate for four innocents. I want to trust that Oaken made the right call. Out of context, it's what I would agree with.

But we sent a message to Sovereign, or his associates at least. We said, "We are willing to break ourselves if you measure us against uninvolved lives." Which means that if we're consistent, he gets what he wants. Or if we're not, people die.

I don't know how to handle this scenario, if it repeats. I can't make that kind of call, between two lives or more.

Or maybe it's not that I can't. It's that I won't like what I discover about myself if I do. Like killing, it's the reasons behind the decision that matters.

But it's not a very clear cut decision.

...Unlike Torbyn's abs. Haha.

The best I can determine for now is to follow orders. But if I must make a choice like that myself...

No. That won't happen. Someone will be there. Oaken or a Legate or Bakari or Caem. Someone else more capable. There's always someone.

Our strength lies in unity, after all.

I now have severe trust issues regarding the Goatlings community. And here's why.

A while ago, I surrendered one of my goats. It was a decent level, level 15, which I had trained from level 1. I didn't want it anymore, and I wanted to give someone else a chance at having a high-leveled goat. I changed their name, and put a special message in the description. Off to adoption they went.

However, the person who rehomed my goat had it for- what, 30, 60 seconds?- before listing it for sale on their profile/account page, and at much higher than they would have recieved it for (which would have been 1,500 SS), asking for items on their WL (GT items, essences, DD/event boxes/items, etc.) or a large quantity of SS.

It just really upsets me, because I had intended the goat to go to someone who would actually use it and treat it well, instead of using it solely for profit. Furthermore, they had sent me a GM about the goat, saying, "I'll take good care of them. Don't worry.", to which I had replied, "Thanks. I appreciate it".

Then they just... threw away their words. I know that they had definitely read the message I had left in the goat's description, asking them to take care of the goat. Mainly because it looks as if they had just copy/pasted the description into another goat's, which they were also trying to sell. They probably did copy/paste, actually.

I wouldn't be overstating anything if I had stated that the only thing different from the others was the fact that the user had changed were the goat's name, and my username at the end. The original was this.

"Hoi, this is (user)_____. I've decided to surrender (Goatling's name)____, so that someone else can have it. I hope that you, the new owner, will take good care of (Goatling's name)____. Thank you. ~(user)_____"

(All that's changed from my and the user's descriptions are that the blanks are now filled respectively, and "surrender" has been changed into "sell".)

It just makes me feel unrespected, and also seems very rude. Are my words nothing to you? And adding to that effect is the fact that my account is approximately 7 months older than theirs. It also reflects the user as untrustworthy, and puts you in a bad light.

Yes, I know it was partially my fault. I surrendered it in the first place. That I shouldn't care, the goat's not mine anymore. Besides, it's just a cute, pastel game, stop taking it so seriously! But still, I was the first owner of that goat for a long time, and that doesn't stop me from caring about it. Neither does it prohibit me from intervening and asking my request. And game or not, it's still a disrespectful action.

And have some respect, please, for other users! It really isn't that hard. Besides, you shouldn't even be using another user's efforts for your own personal gain. It can be taken as rude, and not very fair.

I know this does not apply to most people. I once surrendered my other goat, and that went to a person who treated it well. I've also met kind and helpful people, and I want you to know that it was a pleasure meeting you.

It has to be said, even though the whole premise of this series is that Veight is a highly successful werewolf precisely because he has his memories from his old Japanese life, there are many times I tend to forget this is a reincarnation isekai. Aside from his occasional longing for soy sauce and the like, Veight’s old life has come up surprisingly little, and even his advanced use of tactics could be put down to “he’s just smarter, OK?”. But with this book, we finally can’t get away from it, as the premise is that Veight and company go to the fantasy equivalent of Japan and find that the reason it’s that way is that it has been visited by Japanese people for centuries who change the world, and Veight is the latest of these. That said, Veight is not about to abandon the country he’s grown to call home, or Airia, who is growing increasingly more obvious in her attempts to hand Veight a clue. This doesn’t mean, however, that he can’t enjoy himself.

The woman on the cover is Fumino, who is an ambassador-cum-spy sent to Ryunheit from the Kingdom of Wa. Just the name makes Veight suspicious, and while at first I thought she was going to actually make an attempt to challenge Veight on his own level, sadly, he’s soon basically guessing everything she does. That said, Ryunheit needs to arrange more treaties anyway, so he and a few others head for Wa to negotiate – including Mao, who used to be from there but was falsely accused of smuggling and fled. As it turns out, the Kingdom of Wa is just as suspicious of Veight as he is of them, and he is finally forced to admit to someone, if not his allies, that he is in fact one of the “Divine”, which is to say those who come over from Japan. That said, Veight was also BORN here – the other Divine were more traditionally isekai’d. So Veight has to stop the artifact that’s been screwing that up, and while he’s there, also help take out a drug ring. Just another day in the life of a humble vice-commander.

I will admit, after the epic saga of the last three books or so, there are times when this seems to meander a bit. The best scenes are, oddly, when we get little hints of Veight’s past in Japan – I’m not sure if he’s meant to be a yakuza or just an unfortunate salaryman, but when the minor villain starts screaming that “I’m different from you failures” and “You all exist to serve me”, something in Veight naps, and I really, really want to see more. I don’t get it – but this is a nice taste. It’s also nice to see Airia actually back and doing things – even Veight admits he’s too much of a pushover to be good at negotiation, so she arrives to actually get down to brass tacks. The end of the book is literally her and Gomoviroa talking in Veight’s presence about how dense he is. The balance between Veight the superpowered commander and tactician and Veight the “there’s no way a girl would like me” has been fun, but is getting old.

Fortunately, the cover of Vol. 9 implies that may change soon. In the meantime, this is a bit of a letdown after the “Werewolf in Russia” arc, but only a bit. Fans of Veight will still be happy.

Chapter Sixteen

Ethan looked to his old friend Andrew as they were charging in. The feeling of his hands tightly around the shagreen leather. His fast steps, his quick breaths. Knowing that Carine and Hugo, and all his other teammates were right behind him. Having a quest, fighting an evil, the rush, the serenity. This feeling, it was the best feeling in the world.

Ethan swung against Catherine’s shots, bouncing them off. Andrew attacked from the right. Rapid fire. A shot hit Ethan in the leg. It didn’t slow him down, it was a part of what he loved.

He missed being a hero. Oh, he missed it so much. Not for the glory, not for the thanks. Not for anything but the adventure, the thrill, and the purpose. That journey he went on ten years ago was the best time of his life.

When he first took his little wooden sword, and snuck into the forest, dreaming to be a fighter, a hero, he got beat up by a monster. But before the monster could eat him, young Emily jumped in and killed it.

“Hey.” She helped him up.

“Hey.”

“You’re probably wondering what I’m doing alone in the forest.” She said.

That thought hadn’t crossed his mind at all. Ethan was in awe at how she fought. Not to mention, he was a child alone in the forest too.

“Do you know how I can get to the Kingdom of Landia from here?” She asked.

“Yeah, that’s where I live. I’ll show you how to sneak past the gate guard.” Ethan brought Emily to the edge of the fence, about twenty metres away from the main gate. The gates were tall and strong, even a thousand bulls wouldn’t be able to break through. But it was just wide enough for the two children to squeeze between the posts. Ethan took Emily to his friends to introduce them.

“So, you’re not from our town? Where’d you come from then?” Hugo asked.

Emily was a bit shy with talking about herself. “There was a small village, it was pretty far from here, but it…. It burned down about four months ago.”

“What?” Carine asked, hanging onto her every word.

“Yeah. It-it took my family. I’m here for a fresh start.”

“That’s crazy! You can stay with us if you want.” Carine offered.

“No, that’s not necessary. Some of the other survivors gave me enough gold to buy a place here and sort myself out.”

“Other survivors? Where are they now?” Hugo asked.

“They’re trying to build a new village from the ground up. They named it after some bird I guess.”

“Teach us how to fight!” Said Ethan, who was impatiently waiting to interject the whole time. After some convincing, Emily agreed. She taught them how to throw punches, kicks, and how to properly wield a sword. Carine found it a little hard to follow, but she had a great time nonetheless. After they were all tired, and Emily left to find a place, the three walked back to their homes together.

“Why do you want to learn how to fight anyways?” Carine asked.

“It just feels like what I want to do.” Ethan said.

Carine looked to Hugo. “I have idea what he’s on about either.” Hugo said.

Ethan went to bed that night dreaming before he was even asleep. He wanted to be a hero, he wanted to go on a journey. He just needed a villain. As if god had answered his prayers, Catherine showed up in town the next morning.

Ethan and Andrew attacked Catherine in turns, but it didn’t seem to do much. Perhaps she used a spell to make herself stronger. This wasn’t nearly as easy as the first time.

When Catherine first arrived at the Kingdom of Landia, she was seized by guards at the town gates and brought to the King and Queen where she told her sob story about the burned down village. Despite King Jason’s concerns, the compassionate Queen decided to take her in. The King went along with it, knowing that she was having a hard time because their son Justin had been sent to live with the young duchess Grace in Airia for some time now. This might help her cope. 

Catherine had her own room in the castle, it was the room they were in right now, fighting her. She was thankful of the Queen at first, but she couldn’t help but fall in love with the King. Hearing everyone talk about how kind the Queen was, seeing her be with the King like that, she couldn’t help but lash out.

Catherine forced Ethan away mid-swing. Andrew knocked her onto her knees. Ethan recovered and gave a hearty strike to Catherine’s side.

Ethan still remembered waking up to townspeople yelling. He pushed passed the crowd and saw the poster on the shop window. Queen Justine was missing. As horrible as it was, Ethan was excited. He finally had his quest, his adventure.

After meeting Andrew and Jady, after meeting Merl-Bob, finding out about Catherine, they went to the castle. The guards didn’t let them in, didn’t believe their story. They were just kids after all. To their luck, they met Anna, a young knight in training. Anna believed in their cause, and liked Carine, and decided to help them through the castle. When they ran into the King, he had no choice but to follow them in search for his wife. They found her crudely chained up, the beautiful Queen Justine. Cut up, then mended together just to be cut up again. The cruel torture of the Torturess Catherine. King Jason was horrified, in shock, probably traumatized for life. Seeing the King this way hurt Catherine too. She wanted Queen Justine to be hurt, not Jason, she couldn’t stand it. She shouted something.

“Close your eyes!” Andrew commanded.

There was a flash of light. Catherine erased her. To the rest of the world, it was like Queen Justine had never existed. No one outside of that room remembers there ever being a Queen of Landia. Sometimes King Jason would be unsure if there was either, and slipped into madness. The King banished Catherine away, the clerics shielded the kingdom from her presence.

Catherine was on the floor. She shot out a string of magic bullets, giving her time to pick herself back up. Ethan dodged them. One hit Andrew in the waist, knocking him down. Ethan swung at her. There was an opening. He hesitated. This, this was the end. Once this battle’s over, this journey is too, his being a hero. This was likely his last adventure. It has to end, but. Just a little bit longer.

Catherine blasted him away.

I feel like, my mom is starting to get more picky about my appearance. It used to be typical mom stuff where she’d try to get me to wear cute and pretty clothes when all I want to do is wear comfortable pants and shirts. Lately though, she’s been pointing out flaws and making me feel uncomfortable. She’s been saying I’m gaining weight, when I don’t believe I am. I have a bit of chub but then most people do, and it doesn’t bother me. She’s been pointing out my acne, yet another normal thing that people have. I get a break out every now and then, and sometimes they scab, sorry. Today though, I told her I had a cavity that’s been bothering me and asked her if we could go get it filled. She said yeah, and we’ll get your braces put back on and fix your overbite. I asked her why, she said ‘Because you need to, and it could cause problems later on.’ I do not have a bad overbite. I even looked it up and unless you have a severe overbite, it’s really just gonna make your smile look weird. That’s it. I don’t know, it’s just getting on my nerves. For the record, I normally get along really well with my mom.
