spooky tuesday is a (now not so new!) podcast where we’re breaking down all of our favorite slashers, thrillers, monster movies and black comedies on the new scariest day of the week.
did anyone else just get the strangest craving for pizza? we could use a little snack here at spooky tuesday, especially since we've got nothing to do for the rest of the night besides play the harpsichord, try on other people's glasses, and snoop through this big old house while babysitting some old lady. oh, yeah — and we're watching the house of the devil (2009). in ti west's satanic panic-inspired '80s slow burn, college student samantha agrees to take on an unusual gig for some much-needed rent money, and though bestie greta gerwig reminds her to be wary of weirdos, things still go more than a little sideways.
give spooky tuesday a listen on apple podcasts, spotify, iheart radio, or stitcher

Amyrose Kruber
Note: I wanted to draw Priscilla first, but I owed this redesign for quite a while and it was time to give poor Amy an update. Priscilla will be next (hopefully)
TW: for mentions of death, abuse, and murder
Tumblr media
Full name: Amyrose Jeanette Kruber
Nicknames: Ms. Kruber, Amy, AJ Kruber (just by Jake)
Age: 40-50s, two years younger than Owen
Active Status: Deceased (cannon), Alive (Hello Sisterhood)
Date of Birth: November 27, of most likely 1945-1950
Time of death: Around season 2 of the show (when the puppets were alive)
Cause of death: Strangulation (Murdered by Mortimer and Riley; death placed as suicide)
Love interest: Owen Gubberson (Unintended rejection in Cannon), Jake Bowen (Cannon Divergent universe)
Family: Owen Gubberson (Husband in Hello Sister Universe and other AUs), Amelia Kruber (Mother †), Earl Kruber (Father †), Rosemary Kruber (Sister †), Rebecca Kruber (Niece), Hannah Jenkins (Niece), Sarabeth "Beth" Jenkins (Grand-Niece), Mathew Jenkins (Nephew-in-law †), Anthony Pierson (Grand-Nephew-in-law), Exliza Dollison (Adopted daughter/ Shared universe with @dolly-royal), Priscilla Gubberson (sister-in-law), Arthur Gubberson (father-in-law. Hello Sisterhood and other universes) the handeemen and Scout (adoptive step-children just in Hello Sisterhood)
Friends: HQ crew, Handeemen (just in hello sisterhood and others AUs), Owen Gubberson, Jake Bowen, Matilda Screecher, Rachel letterer, Joel, Priscilla Gubberson, Samuel Burlington, the Burlington family
Enemies: The handeemen (cannon divergent and technically in cannon), Rachel Breadstone (Not friends not enemies), Victor Pierson (cannon divergence)
Job: Ventriloquist at Burlington's Co and Entertainment, puppeteer, co-director of the Handeemen Studios (Hello Sisterhood)
Amy was born in Texas and moved to Nashville, Tennessee at the age of 3. She was the second daughter of Amelia and Earl Kruber, and the youngest sister of Rosemary Kruber. She had a rough life in Tennessee after her father started to drink and become abusive towards her and her family. Amy has a scar in her back after her father threw a glass bottle when she was 5 years of age. Eventually, Amelia reported her Earl for domestic Abuse and he was sent to rehab when Amy was 14 years old. However, Amelia remained married to Earl.
Around this time, Rosemary took her to see a ventriloquist in town for her birthday. Amy became fascinated and decided to pursue a career of becoming a ventriloquist. She eventually left home at the age of 18 to live with her cousins in San Diego, California (just two years after Earl returned, but the abuse did end) where she further her education in the arts, and became a puppeteer for children shows, and adult audiences. At the age of 28 she started to puppeteer for puppet shows, and became affiliated temporarily with the Jim Henson company to puppeteer for 10 years until she became affiliated with the Burlington entertainment company and had a show on her own in one of their entertainment places. This was her job for the rest of her life and career.
She met Owen Gubberson when he came into a bar she was hosting a show. She recognized him from the convention and Mortimer's Handeemen pilot. They talked a bit and became friends ever since after talking endlessly about puppets. Both eventually developed feelings for the other.
Amy helped Owen with his company and show through covering for puppeteers and give him some advice in the show business. However, she made clear that she had no intentions in joining the Handeemen Studios, but would gladly referrer to Owen for future investors and producers. They also had a couple of fights regarding Owen's micromanaging, but Amy didn't involve herself too much on his business
After the success of the first season, the studios had a small party (Mortimer was alive around this point). Amy took Owen for a dance, and they were having a good time. Eventually a slow song hit, and Amy decided to build some courage and tell Owen that she loved him. Owen being in shock because Amy liked him back but also having, so social skills at all stays quite unable to tell her "I love you too" which Amy takes as a rejection from his part. Owen did try to reach out to her the next day but she interrupted him and told him they were better off as friends as she jokes "It is better than just me hangin' like a doll, ya know"
She started to develop feelings for Jake Bowen (same with him) after the two started to become close, but she decided not to move forward as she still loved Owen. They never mentioned their feelings.
As the months began to pass, strange events involving the puppets occurred, and many problems with Rachel, Amy and Owen's relationship slowly went downhill. After the book was revealed. Amy had a small confrontation about Owen and what was going on. Owen desperately tried to tell her that Mortimer was alive and brought the others as well, and in vain tries to make Mortimer talk to Amy which she angrily says "Mortimer is just a puppet!" before leaving just as Mortimer mocks Owen about playing dead.
That same night, Amy starts to have regrets and sends Owen an apology via a phone message before she receives a call from Owen (which was actually Mortimer) about meeting in the studio to talk and help him with his office. Just as Amy enters she is captured by the puppets and is hanged at the main stage carrying a fake suicide note. She died as she saw Owen rushing to save her This is also at the same time Mortimer hints to Owen about a small surprise and Jake coming to the studio to pick some stuff but getting distracted by a scream. Owen rips the rope and embraces as he apologizes and laments about not saying he loved her too. Jake arrives and has a small fight with Owen asking about what happened. The police arrive and declared that Amy committed suicide.
During the press, Owen tries to talk with Rosemary about what happened as it was rumored Owen murdered Amy, but Rose cuts him off and tells him that she doesn't want to hear anything about him or "his stupid puppet company" as she blames him for Amy's death. This would lead to Rosemary sheltering her daughters (Rebecca and Hannah) and her grandchildren (Sarabeth and her cousins. Rose is Beth's grandmother) from the anything related to the Handeemen and puppets in general.
------
In Hello Sisterhood, the history is mostly the same except the puppets were brought much later due to Owen wanting to save his show from low ratings. The spell turned them Human, but this was after season 1. During the party where Amy confessed to Owen, he had the courage to tell her he loves her back and the two become a couple. After the whole good puppets brought to life, Amy and Owen decide to work together and merge their job thus becoming the directors of what is the studio in Hello Sisterhood.
The lore in the fanfic is different due to being written before the midnight show.
-----
Some small trivia about Amy
She was my first OC created and was intended to be Owen's love interested and a parallel to the main puppet duo in a former idea (this was in 2021) about the backstory of the puppets.
Sarabeth was always intended to be her grandniece, but the whole taboo with Owen's company was not implemented yet.
An inside joke I have with Amber is that Amy is like the Kenny of my universe, she constantly gets killed.
In other AUs she features in, she's Owen's wife, and Hello Sisterhood is probably the only AU where she's Owen's girlfriend but soon to be his wife.
In the academy AU part 1, Amy will take a role inspired by Host as she will help Scout around as "The Mourning Widow" but is a separate AU.
There is a chance she might be mentioned in "Once Upon a Midnight Dreary" as Dr. Gubberson's dead dove/former love in the Poe Fashion
Amy has a bast collection of sweaters she likes to wear. During summer, she has squared pattern blouses she hears. She likes to cover her scars, but she just wears those clothes because she just loves them.
Her favorite films are Dirty Dancing and Grease.
Favorite Musical is a Day in the Park with George and into the woods.
Also, she got Owen to dress as a flower to her bumblebee costume. Everyone said the flower looked rather withered due to Owen's frown

Elle Goes to Forbidden Door
This is going to be a l o n g post. Some notes before I begin: I will be tagging some people in regards to certain moments, but please know that you are not obligated to read the entire, long post! I also took some notes on my phone for moments I knew I wanted to remember; those will be indicated for my own kicks with **.
Before the Show: I knew from the moment I got tickets that I wanted to wear my Sting shirt! I also wrote names of and references to my faves on my arm and painted my nails gold and black! I also wore a singular wing earring, but not for any symbolic reason at all!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Match 1 - Hirooki Goto & Yoshi-Hashi v. QT Marshall & Aaron Solo: This was a fun opener! I was yelling “happy birthday” (I was technically a day late) to Goto throughout the match XD. I also yelled “Snow Prince’s dad!!” @dreamsandflowers XD. The crowd also enjoyed multiple rounds of “QT sucks” chants, and he and Aaron played into it well.
Match 2 - Nick Comoroto v. Lance Archer: My bro said this match was good! I was using the restroom and getting food - they are both great athletes, but I had to do it at some point!
Match 3 - Swerve in Our Glory v. El Desperado & Yoshinobu Kanemaru (Suzuki-gun): Sadly, I missed the beginning, but I got to see the rest, and it was fun!! Poor Mr. Despy Despy took some n a s t y bumps!! I kept yelling that Kanemaru should have brought the whiskey. My brother and I had a good view of Hobbs and Ricky while they mocked Swerve and Keith! **After they finished their bit, Hobbs gave his popcorn to a fan XD. It was cute!**
Match 4 - Assclaimed Gunn Club & Max Caster w/ Anthony Bowens v. Yuya Uemura, Alex Coughlin, The DKC & Kevin Knight (NJPW LA Dojo): Witnessing the Ass Boys get the city wrong - especially saying Green Bay - in person was hilarious, and it was super fun to do the “Ass Boys” chant in person XD. **Bowens goofily conducted the chant.**
Match 5 - Chris Jericho & Sammy Guevara & Minoru Suzuki v. Eddie Kingston & Shota Umino & Wheeler Yuta: I apologized to my brother ahead of time for who I would become during this match XD. And let me tell you, the way I popped for Yoots’ entrance!!!  There were SO MANY moments during this match! Bro and I had fun with Jericho’s entrance (he is one of my brother’s live long favorites who has always been there while he was watching, similar to my connection to AJ Styles, so this was a big thing for him). The crowd was on fire for Eddie with multiple rounds of “F*ck ‘em up Eddie, f*ck ‘em up!” chants before he even got tagged in - it was great! Shooter got some great love and him locking in The Walls of Jericho was INSANE!!! Sammy got multiple rounds of “f*ck you Sammy” chants lol. The crowd was also giving much love to Yuta!! And by the way, fellow Yuta simps, can confirm he is even prettier irl.  Poor Shooter kept getting mauled by Murder Gramps, but he held his own! I was keeping an eye on him being DeadTM outside the ring, usually on the right from my vantage point. I was also definitely watching Yuta on the ring apron at some points because I mean can you blame me? Basically, this match was FIRE! It was an honor to see Suzuki live, we finally got our Mox’s sons team, and feral Eddie is everything! Every interaction of Shoots and Yoots was heart eyes, including **Yuta helping Shota get to the back, supporting him on his shoulder.**
Match 6 - Roppongi Vice v. FTR v. Jeff Cobb & Great-O-Khan (United Empire): The crowd was on fire for FTR, it was so fun to do their chant live!! It was great to see them and Roppongi Vice live, and while I don’t know the other duo well, it was a great match! The pop when Dax ran back out was great (I hope he’s okay); I was overwhelmed at that point so I did not actually see that he was taken to the back when he was. Love seeing FTR draped in gold!! AEW tag title shot next???
Match 7 - PAC v. Miro v. Malakai Black v. Clark Connors: THIS. MATCH. Okay first of all, I popped so hard to PAC’s entrance! Also, it took him a hot minute to come out so I was little nervous I’m like where’s the bastard??? Malakai’s entrance was spooky but **interestingly (and this makes sense) the lighting actually makes him slightly visible during the black out spots when he moves.** I found that to be super neat, kind of like when you can spot techies during a theatre department (shout out to all the tech crew at the event, they did great and I got excited to see them XD).  RIP Clark Connors going at Miro and dying multiple times BUT THEN THE TABLE SPOT. When Malakai first went for the table and leaned it up against the barricade I was like SIR DID THE FRONT ROW SIGN WAIVERS? And they kept teasing the table, but the payoff of Clark putting Miro through it was fab. Bro and I both took pics of Miro absolutely sandwiched in the table. The back and forth and flow in this match was great. The whole thing was great. I went insane for PAC winning and I am getting hyped about it again typing this. FIRST EVER ALL-ATLANTIC CHAMP BABY. Also Pac is *fans self* in person.
Match 8 - The Young Bucks & ELP w/ Hikuleo (Bullet Club) v. Sting & Darby & Shingo Tagaki (Dudes With Attitudes): I literally have a degree in English Education and I cannot express with words what this match meant to me and how I felt about it. I could write an entire essay just on this match. But I will try to keep it relatively brief XD. Okay so, first of all, Sting’s music hitting and then him not coming out made me SO NEROUS. I was afraid Bullet Club did something to him backstage. ELP sadly did not do a full entrance for @elphantas-hoe . I blame Jay White. The Bucks’ entrance live was fun! Then. THEN!!! We were in the 100s section so way below, but the Sting decoy was above where my brother and I were sitting AND THAT WAS EVERYTHING! When the lights went out I FLIPPED. When the rafters decoy showed up I FLIPPED. When Sting appeared on the tunnel I FLIPPED. When he jumped down onto the BC crew I FLIPPED. AND THE MATCH HADN’T EVEN STARTED YET!!! During the match, my brain kept bouncing between how cool it was to see the Bucks in their classic tasseled BC gear and how much I hated them teaming with the BC XD. When they too-sweeted ELP I was so done XD. My brother got the biggest glare when he did a “toooo sweeeeet” chant XD. Seeing the Bucks live was everything, I’m EMOTIONAL. They’re just!! And I’ve said before, but Guy Who Plays ELP must just have the most fun with this character. Being infuriated by him live was a treat. Also my duality (as @elitehoe would say XD) of laughing and pointing when he suffered but being like NO HE’S AN OLD MAN HOW COULD YOU when Sting suffered. The “you suck f*ck” chants at ELP and Matt during the back rakes were hilarious.  Speaking of Sting. I am literally starting to feel my eyes get itchy typing right now. Guys. I got so see Sting live in TNA as a kid. I barely remember. I never thought I would get to see him live again even just standing at ringside. And yesterday I saw him live WRESTLING in person and doing a classic Sting misdirection AND being goofy AND Iconically no-selling AND being a bad*ass!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! AND WITH MY BROTHER. I am so glad I was wrong in my guess about who would win this match! I got to see Sting and the Bucks plus Shingo Tagaki (who was fabulous!)!!! I screamed so much!  @thekentuckyhimbo insists that Sting no-sold the purple nurple from ELP because he’s into that (she posted it in the discord and made a post on it here, desperate for my attention much? smh). While I certainly wouldn’t have guessed this, who knows, and who I am to kink-shame the Icon?
Match 8 - Thunder Rosa v. Toni Storm: Women!!!! They killed it!!!! I was frustrated by some comments that were being made behind me about Toni but still had fun. Thunder getting the pyro was metal, as she deserves! I yelled hard for the show of respect between the two of them after the match. They didn’t get to do much build up for the show, but they rocked it!!!!! Hopefully we can get some more screen time and narrative focus for both of them, but especially Thunder as the champ.
Match 9 - Orange Cassidy v. Will Ospreay: This was hilarious as expected and also OC was fired up pretty much from the beginning which was wild!! I loved it!!! Doing the putting hands in pockets thing with OC and the crowd was super fun live!! The two worked quite well together. I was also entertained that it was a title match but with no belt because Juice Robinson wouldn’t give it up. I consider it a win for my Spite Jay White Agenda that Bullet Club member Juice Robinson showed up in the crowd with the title and the wrestlers in the ring didn’t really care (it was cool that he came all the way out for it tho!).  UNITED EMPIRE BEATING ON OC AFTERWARDS :(((((((((((((((((((( when Roppongi Vice wasn’t enough to help I was yelling for Chuck and Kris to come help. I know little of Shibata but him coming out for the save puts him as a Good! in my book XD. OC being confused when Shibata had him roll back in the ring to get applause was cute and funny.
Match 10 - Zack Sabre Jr. v. Mystery Opponent (Claudio Castagnoli): I cannot express to you how hard I popped when Claudio came out. As soon as the logo went up I knew. I’m going to listen to his theme music on repeat for weeks when it’s on Spotify (is it out yet?). This match was everything, I love technical wrestlers and it’s the best thing when two of them go head to head. Seeing Claudio again is EVERYTHING. And this was my first experience seeing ZSJ in the ring, but he has an instant fan in me because WOW. The match was amazing and I delighted in every moment. The times they teased the swing but didn’t do it KILLED us XD. When we finally got it, we lost it and doing the counting and the swing gesture live was so cool. I don’t think I can handle having two of the men I am infatuated with in the BCC. I’m going to die.
Match 11 - Jay White v. Adam Cole v. Kazuchika Okada v. Hangman Adam Page: DO I EVEN NEED TO SAY THIS WAS AMAZING? I laughed and of course-d when Jay rolled out of the ring and when Cole followed suit. That was a clever bit because it fit with both of their characters AND gave us the treat of seeing a little Okada/Hangman one on one action. I was suspicious that Jay was gonna do something with his jacket because it was notably sitting on the corner of the apron the whole match, but it didn’t come into play. Seeing Okada live was an honor. Seeing Hangman live was a dream. Cole Too Sweet-ing Jay and then immediately backstabbing him was hilarious, thank you Cole XD. I turned to my brother and said, “I’ll Too Sweet to that,” and we did <3 because Spite Jay White. The ending of the match was strange. I really hope everyone is okay! The vibe was distinctly Off for a while after it ended, we were all confused.  The rest of the Undisputed Elite coming out after the match *brain whirs about Hung Bucks but also about the fact that Bucks were teaming with BC but Jay and Cole unsurprisingly swerved each other*
Match 12 - Jon Moxley v. Hiroshi Tanahashi: It was a delight to see Tanahashi live and the crowd was HOT for him! Seeing Moxley live meant a great deal to me personally <3. They killed it! There was a large distraction not long into the match when an audience member got into an altercation with security. Thankfully they were able to remove him, but the crowd was very distracted from the match which is understandable (we are naturally curious!) but made me feel bad for Mox and Tanahashi. We eventually got back on track and the match was great! CHAMPION MOX!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! He and Punk will have a BANGER feud when Punk returns (though of course, the interim title technically could change hands before then).  Post Match beatdown was intense and the staggered entrances of people coming to interfere was great for building tension! I popped hard again for Yuta but also for Claudio making the save. Every moment in the aftermath that the two of them interacted KILLED me. I hope someone gifed some of it *heart eyes.*
After the Show: TK came out and introduced a very special guest - Brodie Lee Jr! It was so cute! Notably, they kept Brodie up on the stage and out of the ring since there was a lot of blood. TK is delightfully awkward (affectionate)! Little Brodie is a adorable and the crowd chanted hard for him! TK made a point of saying he was trusting the kid with a live mic and Brodie took the opportunity to ask us to cheer for everyone in the ring one by one, ending with Yuta before he also shouted out Eddie, who had run to the back. Then TK turned things over to Mox. Mox gave a short, very him and very lovely speech about how pro wrestling brings us all together and about how much of an honor it was that we see the New Japan wrestlers. I hardcore agreed on all those points!!!!!!!!!! He also made note of how he could swear because we were off the air XD. He also said Eddie was mad at Claudio because of Words with Friends XD. He ended by saying he had a point but wasn’t sure what it was because he was heavily concussed (I hope he’s okay!!).   I had an amazing time. Amazing! I used up all my remaining braincells typing this. Later I will reply the notifications I’ve been sitting on and spam reblog stuff y’all posted from the ppv!! *zonks into semi-consciousness* I SAW STING LIVE
