I'm Kina (kinaesthetic/kinaesthetique)! I write about girls falling in love and kissing and examining what it means to be human or otherwise. I also like to break my toys sometimes, but I know how to fix them.

I do not take requests, commissions, or creative direction for my fics.

I'm notorious for writing characters in ways that make me happy. :) This tends to manifest with explorations on gender and neurodivergence. That's okay if it's not for you.

I would personally prefer to NOT have my fics placed in public ranked bookmark collections, even if the list is 5/5 stars or whatever. Thank you!

Now that's out of the way, I love in-universe plots with changes to canon, supernatural additions, supernatural/non-human AUs, and wingsssss! Sometimes I draw for my fics and other times I seek commissions. I'll occasionally post art here as well, but it's pretty rare.

This blog is mostly for posting in-progress snippets, working through fic logistics, answering questions, and crying/yelling about headcanons.

I write slowly but I don't give up or abandon. Longest wait for an update was 4 years on the dot. ┐⁠(⁠´⁠д⁠`⁠)⁠┌ I have a full time job, a full time academic career, a house, and three cats. Project: Remnant, my RWBY-based TTRPG, is currently 17 pages long and covers a wide variety of topics including the basic system mechanics, 11 skins (aka: classes), Semblance creation, Weapon creation, and a fun social resource to help really capture the main theme of RWBY.

I still need to clean some stuff up, I haven't even started the sections on Semblance Evolution or Weapon Upgrades yet and I still need to finish flushing out the Skins properly, but overall I have a pretty solid base game put together.

I’ve been seeing an uptick in “anti-RWDE” posts lately  — which is a phenomenon I’d like to comment on at a later date  — but for now one of them (quite unintentionally) made me realize something about the finale that I haven’t seen others discuss yet. 

So RWBYJNOR saves everyone, right? Let’s just put aside the animation for a moment  — which didn’t show any army members making it out  — as well as the forgotten side characters  — Maria, Pietro, Qrow’s group isn’t forgotten, but still left behind  — and take things on good faith here. We’ll read the finale through the thematic intention: RWBYJNOR saved “everyone” in the Kingdom of Atlas in Volume 8, deliberately contrasting them with Ironwood who was willing to sacrifice a chunk of the Kingdom in Volume 7. Forget all the messiness and just accept that regardless of the consequences  — like a destroyed Kingdom and a “dead” team  — the heroes are heroic because they didn’t give into a “lesser evil” thinking and managed to save everyone. 

Now, how was that possible? 

Let’s go back to the beginning of the seventh episode of Volume 8, “War.” Salem’s grimm have just burrowed through Atlas’ defenses and taken them out. The shields are gone. She flies Monstra into the fields and releases an army of darkness that immediately heads for the city. What’s the very first thing Ironwood does? 

Soldier: Yes, sir?

Ironwood: I am evacuating all citizens to the subway. Prepare Manta Squad Omega, and dispatch to every part of Atlas.

Soldier: But sir-

Ironwood: Now!

He evacuates the people, with “the people” meaning all the Atlesians and however many Mantle folk got to the city prior to Salem’s arrival. When this episode aired I mentioned being confused as to why the soldier was so hesitant. Why wouldn’t you want the people to get to safety when a grimm army is heading their way? Fans against Ironwood took the soldier’s side, claiming that Mountain Glenn proved that any underground evacuation is a death sentence and thus he obviously doesn’t really care about the peoples’ safety. Fans in support of/neutral towards Ironwood pointed out that this is a pretty big leap, no one is coming up with a better idea for what he should do instead, and that within these circumstances it reads like the soldiers is illogically against this idea simply because everyone is against Ironwood now. The show wants characters criticizing his decisions and making him out to look like a crazed dictator... even during moments when it doesn’t make any sense to be upset with him. Shooting the councilman yes, trying to keep the people safe no. Basically, this small exchange was a mess, but the rest of the volume proved that this was a sound call. The subway never collapsed and no grimm ever made it to that enclosed space to pick the civilians off like fish in an underground barrel. 

So, why didn’t that happen? Well, one answer is because Oscar and Ozpin destroyed the whale. But how did they have time to do that? Without the people dying while they were being tortured, talking to Hazel, escaping with Emerald, fighting Salem, etc.? A lot happened between Salem starting her attack and Oscar ending it, so why wasn’t 2/3rds of the Kingdom’s population decimated during that time? 

Because Ironwood sent his army out to keep the grimm occupied. 

Outside of Ironwood’s cartoon villain actions  — random murders and bomb threats  — which get the most attention due to how deliberately, over-the-top horrific they are, these are the two actions that get the most negative attention from both the story and the fanbase. The soldier seems horrified by the order to evacuate. Marrow is devastated that young adults are fighting in this battle. The fandom is disgusted by both aspects of Ironwood’s character: giving orders that, as general, he expects to be obeyed and having an army that follows those orders. Putting side that cartoon villainy, this is what supposedly makes Ironwood the antagonist here. These are the qualities that have existed since Volume 2, resulting in a “he was always a bad guy” interpretation. These are the qualities that have resulted in anyone who likes his character being labeled as a “bootlicker.” We know these qualities make the fandom hate him because otherwise, more people would be confused as to why a presumably heroic character randomly shot Oscar. Orders, armies, and general military associations are at the heart of Ironwood’s presumed villainy. 

So let’s remove them. 

Ironwood has no evil army. Ironwood gives no evil orders. Power and control lies solely in the hands of our non-military heroes. Everything is better! 

...well, no. Because we saw in Volume 8 precisely the choices our heroes made when the attack started: half of them focused on saving a single individual (Oscar) and the other half kept to the sidelines. At no point did our RWB group act after sending the message and prior to securing the Staff. AKA, during the attack of Salem’s army. We got a very explicit moment in which Ruby looked out the window at the battle going on and turned away from it, continuing to discuss ethics instead of joining the fight. The people of Atlas (which, again, includes many Mantle citizens) had no one but Ironwood and his army because a third of the group was trying to rescue Oscar (they never even had a plan to blow up Monstra — that was also Ironwood), a third of the group was up in Amity, and a third was sitting in the mansion. They did nothing to help the people of Atlas being attacked by grimm. 

Thus, if you remove Ironwood’s actions, everything goes to hell. There is no longer an order to evacuate to the subway. Maybe some people go there anyway. Most probably don’t. They run in a panic wherever they can. Hide wherever they can. Go back home for some semblance of safety. 

There’s no longer an army. Either it doesn’t exist because we’ve determined it’s simplistically bad despite RWBY’s grimm-specific context, or Ironwood likewise never gives the order to protect Atlas’ border. Salem’s army moves unimpeded through the city, killing countless people as it goes. How do we know? Because they’re civilians who can’t defend themselves and there’s literally no one else to help. Remember: Ironwood is not giving orders, there is no army, RWB is in the mansion, YJOR is in the whale, Penny is out of commission, the Happy Huntresses are in Mantle. Those in Atlas are entirely alone. In time, Oscar destroys the whale, but by then it’s too late. There’s no concrete way to theorize how many have died, but it’s inevitably a lot. Everyone else is scatted across the city, trying to survive. 

So this scene 

no longer exists. 

When the group gets the Staff and creates portals for “everyone” to escape through, Mantle is ready to go. They’ve gotten everyone into the crater and can funnel them straight to Vacuo. Atlas, however, is in chaos. When Jaune enters the subway there’s only a few people there, many of which may be wounded or dying. He’s right back where he started, in Mantle at the beginning of Volume 8: needing to go door-to-door to find where people have hidden themselves, trying to convince them all to follow him (remember Oscar commenting to Ozpin about how difficult that was?). Except now, he and Nora are the only ones trying to get people to safey, the city is filled with far more grimm, a significant amount of time has passed for people to be killed or injured (making evacuating them even harder, both due to injuries and an unwillingness to leave hurt/dead/missing loved ones behind), he’s trying to convince these panicking people to go through magic portals, not just walk to a crater, and he’s aware that there’s a very short time limit for this task. 

Jaune returns in a panic of his own, explaining how difficult it will be to get that 2/3rds of the Kingdom to Vacuo. How many are already dead. Barricaded. Missing. Closeup on Ruby looking horrified, but then she rallies. They can do it. Atlas is falling, but residual dust gives them just enough time to find, calm, and evacuate those people. They’re heroes after all. Beating the odds is what they do. 

Then Cinder attacks. 

Suddenly, the group can’t evacuate people because they’re trying to keep themselves safe from her. Maybe Cinder gets the powers because Jaune was off looking for civilians, leaving Penny without a mercy kill. Maybe Nora dies because she’s still trying to help people on the city that plows into the one below. Regardless of how details might change, they’re not getting a spread out, decimated population through those portals before Cinder changes the wish and makes them disappear.  

In this version, the story starts with Ironwood wanting to sacrifice 1/3rd of the population to save 2/3rds and the future of the war. It ends with 2/3rds of the population dying instead. 

This is what I mean when I say the majority of the fandom wants to view a very complex situation through a ridiculously simple lens. The fandom wants to denounce every bit of RWBY’s fictionalized military, the context issues of that aside. The story wants to paint RWBYJNOR as the only heroes, in part because they succeeded in saving everyone (“everyone”) in the Kingdom when Ironwood gave up. 

But they only managed to save everyone because of Ironwood. Because he kept fighting for his people to the bitter end. This is why, though his horrific actions obviously exist in the story, they make no sense (he’ll threaten to kill his people so he can... save his people?) and mess up what little is working in the finale. The story wants us to celebrate the group for evacuating Mantle and Atlas, but the Atlas evacuation would not have happened if not for Ironwood’s actions  — the actions that are ignored in favor of having Winter blame him for everything and then killing him off. The rescue of “everyone” was very much a joint effort. RWBYJNOR’s win is not actually a contrast to Ironwood’s intended sacrifice, for the simple reason that their win depended entirely on Ironwood’s actions. 

If we’re going to celebrate the group getting everyone to safety, we should probably also celebrate the guy who got them all to an easy evacuation point and ensured they weren’t eaten before then. Does that mean Ironwood never did anything wrong? Of course not. As established, the story went out of its way to make him into a villain. Rather, it means that other parts of the story failed to maintain that black and white view, complicating the heroism of RWBYJNOR in the process. If we want Ironwood to be incapable of heroic action, always the bad guy, nothing good to say about him whatsoever... then we likewise need to accept that the group is rather unheroic in many regards too. That, on their own, they would have failed to save everyone, just as Ironwood’s plan failed to save everyone at the end of Volume 7. Because they chose their friend over a kingdom. Because they sat around in a mansion. Because by the time they took action again and tried to escape, without Ironwood’s help they would have lost a larger majority than they originally insisted be saved.

RWBY characters races for AUs set in our world.

How I’m going to do this: three things. The first, the city they live in Remnant. This is the least important because that leaves us with only five…maybe six places compared to our world’s hundreds of countries.

The second will be the original of their names, which they’ll have to keep in the AUs, meaning that they need some culture background for them.

The third will be their fairy tale origins.

So to start, Ruby Rose:

She lives in Vale, which is similar to France (I’ll explain why in another post maybe), but technically grew up in patch, a small island off the coast of Vale. I have no idea about Patch’s culture as we hardly ever see it, so I’m going to skip this one. We also don’t know if either Summer or Taiyang was originally from Vale.

We know Taiyang is Chinese from his name, so I’m going to say she’s half Chinese. I also wrote a western au once and really love the idea of Taiyang being an Asian Redneck…so I think I’m going to say Ruby is very, very southern just because that would be adorable.

But if you don’t want that idea I generally see Taiyang being either Asian-American or Asian-French, or Asian-British if your doing a HP AU. Summer is harder to pin down, but Red Riding Hood was originally an Italian fable, so I’m going to have her be Italian or Italian-American.

Weiss:

Weiss is German, although making her simply white America/British would work. I could see her being Russian too in some AU because Atlas fits well as Russia. For American works, Pennsylvania has quite the German population and coal mines, so that works pretty well for her.

Blake is really complicated. From Remment Australia which is culturally SEA (south East Asian), has an English name but parents with a Hindu-inspired names, but neither looking vaguely Indian. I’m going to assume her family are immigrants (as they are in cannon I think) to Australia, maybe even changed their name to help them fit in. Immigrants from where? Well, India is an option, but I like to think Malaysia. They have a large Indian and Chinese population, and I like to think Blake is a mixture of Chinese, Malay, and Indian ethnicities, from Malaysia and immigrated to Australia. And if you think this is crazy or unrealistic, you haven’t seen anything yet. The sheer mix of cultures I’ve seen growing up as an ex-pat is insane. This isn’t too crazy.

For Yang, we already have Taiyang as an Asian red-neck. Or at least I do. Raven and Qrow are going to be a little harder to pin down, but I’m think bandits getting replaced by mafia. Which mafia? I don’t know, take you’re pick. Branwen is Welsh, but I can’t think of a Welsh mafia. Coming from Mistral I would see them as being Triad, not Yakuza because Raven’s gang is famous for being less than coordinated.

If you need a logical reason for Yang having blonde hair, Taiyang could be only half Chinese, half blonde (blonde is race right?).

Either way I see Raven operating in an American city like New York or Detroit.

This would mean Yang is fully Chinese ethnically.

JNPR:

Jaune’s name and inspiration are all French. However his mother does come from Mistral (I think), so I do see him being half Chinese, but nationally French. It’s also funny to imagine him with a French accent.

Pyrrha: she’s Greek or maybe Greek-American with her parents being recent immigrants. Argus seems to Remnent-Greece and her name and fairy tale are greek.

Nora: she should be Scandinavian. I feel like in a MCU AU she’s Thor’s daughter. But she also grew up as a street rat in Mistral, which is hard to fit in our world. Therefore I’m going to have her in America, the great melting pot (and also America seems to be more like Mistral than any other Remnent king with our state system), and she going to ethically Scandinavian but knowing nothing of her culture due to her upbringing.

Ren: obviously Chinese, but I might have him be American-Chinese to fit his story nicely in with Nora’s.

Others:

Coco: we’re all ignoring that she’s based off Coco Channel, so let’s make her a LA girl

Velvet: Australia, because of the accent. Or maybe English because that is her story origin

Fox: he’s difficult, because tribes are pretty rare in modern AUs. But his story could work for various things. He’s one of the few black characters so he could come from practically any African tribe (I’m currently going with Hausa because it’s one of the few I know anything about). His name is based off ‘the fox and the hound’ which is a rare American story, so he could also be from a Native American tribe if you want the AU to be more American-based.

Yatsuhashi: Japanese, this one is thankfully easy.

Sun: Chinese. He comes from a tribe as well, but I can’t think of any nomadic Chinese tribes except the Uyghurs. Making Sun a Uyghur doesn’t make much sense but it will serve to piss off certain people on the internet. And now this is going to be taken down, isn’t it? Oh wait, this is tumbrl. This is anarchy. It won’t. Forgot why I liked this place for a second.

Scarlet: sorry for the rambling there. Anyway, Scarlet is definitely English. “I hope I don’t get sand in my shoes.”

Sage: well, he’s black, but other then that we have nothing to go one. He’s also from Mistral but that doesn’t really work? If Mistral is America as well as China I guess we can make him African American. Or whatever else works best for the AU. He might be Indian too now that I think of it. Or even Maori. Really options are limitless here.

Neptune: Yeah, so probably just American, but does have both a French last name and an Italian first name. So probably ethically American (aka white mutt). Also he lives near a port, I think I’m gonna gone with him being from Tacoma Washington because I am.

Flynt: African American

Neon: Japanese-American because of her meme (it started as part of Japanese pop song on YouTube, the latter of which is America summed up in one invention)

Oscar: Hispanic-American, he just looks it. And I’m guessing he lives in Kansas for obvious reasons. His last name isn’t Hispanic but their could be a lot of reasons for that. Or he could be Native American (Pawnee, Cheyenne, and Osage are all Native American tribes in Kansas).

Penny: well if she’s still a robot she probably stays white, but if you want her human in this AU she might end up being half black as Pietro is, although she also could just be adopted. I guess the later makes more sense, huh? I figure she’s American, with her dad working with a ‘well meaning’ but ultimately corrupt government. Probably living in DC, as that has both the government and the poverty issues.

Emerald: oohh, boy. This is hard. Sustrai is Basque, and Aladdin is a French addition to an Arabian story, she herself is dark skinned with anime features that are super unhelpful for this sorta thing.

I have three ideas. Brazilian, mostly as there’s no South American themed RWBY characters I can think of, and it’s diverse enough that someone looking like Emerald would fit. Secondly, for American centered stories she’s just an orphan with no idea of her ethnicity. Or she could be African, Indian, Pacific Islander, or Hispanic or some mixture between those four. It’s honestly really hard to tell. In my fanfic she’s from Suriname and ethnically 1/4 Indian, 1/2 Creole, and 1/4 Javanese.

Ilia: Sioux (Native American). Ilia means a lot of things in a lot of different languages, and Amitola mean rainbow in Sioux, so I decided to just stick with that.

Mercury: American, white mutt American. I’m guessing New York or Philli for where he grew up, it seems like a place where he’d be comfortable

Neo: the new novel reveals her father lived in vale (btw I haven’t read it, I’m just getting this off the internet) and her mother was a assassin who’s origins aren’t known. She doesn’t really have a fairy tale. So I’m going to go with British or French (thank RWBY thoughts for the first one) although in an American AU she works as just a white American.

Robyn: depends on what Atlas is in this AU, but probably German or American.

Qrow: I already mentioned he’s probably Chinese due to being from Mistral. It’s a bit weird to think of him as Asian, but not as weird as it to think of Raven as white, so I’ll take it. Although I do like the idea of him being American Irish, that’s fun.

Winter: whatever Atlas is in this AU, German or American, although British and Russian would work well too.

Maria: Mexican

Salem: If you want a AU where she’s just a normal person then New England or Italian for her story origin

Watts: British

Tyrian: uh…I have no idea, but he looks white. And he kinda has a British accent? I want him to be southern for the accent tho. Probably just another crazy American

Cinder: her fairy tale is French but her origin is Chinese. Also, Cinderella doesn’t really have an origin, it’s an ancient story with every culture having at least one Cinderella story. So I’m going to say Chinese.

Hazel: American, from the Midwest. He’s darkish so maybe he’s a POC? Part Native American or Hispanic? Idk or really care I can’t stand Hazel

Roman Torchwick: American-Italian, he runs/works for the mafia

Ozpin: American because of the whole wizard-of-Oz-thing or French, because he seems to have come from Vale.

Glynda: American or French for the same reasons Ozpin is

Oobleck: Jewish American (because Dr. Seuss was)

Professor Port: Russian, due to his fairy tale, or English, due to his style

Elm: Just normal American, maybe greek-American because of the Aesop fable themes

Marrow: either African-American or Pakistani/Indian-American. (I’m personally going for Pakistani)

Klein: english. All butlers are English. It’s a rule.

Ruby

Ruby has honestly traits of each house :’’’)... I would put her in Ravenclaw though since at the beginning of the story she prefers weapons over people... her ability to think outside the box is also one of her best traits and she is a huge nerf :’’’)

Weiss

Weiss is a slytherin that slowly turns into a gryffindor :’’’) She starts ambitious and focused on achievements and status... only to realize later on she doesn’t care at all about these things. What she cares about is her loved ones and people in general. This transformation might fit both a Hufflepuff and a Gryffindor, but her princess and knight imagery just keep screaming gryffindor to me.

Blake

She is a raveclaw that must learn how to be more of a gryffindor. And she succeeds clearly. No more scredy cat.

Yang

Obviously she is Blake’s opposite aka a Gryffindor that must learn to become more of Ravenclaw. And she succeeds... “I may not be faster... But I am smarter”.

Jaune

He is a Gryffindor, but everyone thinks he is a hufflepuff :’’)

Pyrrha

She is a hufflepuff, but everyone thinks she is a gryffindor ;)

Nora

She is a roaring gryffindor

Anyway, when it comes to Em and Merc I am expecting them to show other sides of themselves once they are free from their abusers... so we’ll see... I would not be surprised if they turned out to be both hufflepuffs :P

NERO (Nora, Emerald, Ren, and Oscar) seeing Neo w/ Jaune and the others for the first time! How do you imagine that going? :3c

Honestly this is the best setup we could have hoped for. Getting team RWBY to like Neo is the hardest part. Once they figure that out on the island, the biggest issue is done

That leaves:

Ren: Whose evolved semblance can instantly tell him Neo is on their side now

Nora: Whose emotional intelligence can instantly tell her Neo is on their side now. And is bonding with Jaune

Emerald: Another ex-villain who only just defected a few episodes earlier. They never got along super well, but they don't hate each other

Oscar: Maybe the most confused? But his goal was to turn Salem's followers to their side, so, I doubt he'll be too shocked

These 4 are all in team JNPR, aka Team "if you don't have a family, one will be provided for you"

Getting RWBY to like Neo is a whole other question

This is long as I began writing and couldn’t stop but enjoy if you decide to stop and read it.

When team RWBY plus Jaune and Neo return everyone’s gotta be tackling them.

If not tackling then please let it be emotional for the Vacuo survivors. They thought RWBYJ, and Neo but not too emotional for her because she was the enemy but y’know, was dead. I can imagine this.

Nora tackling Jaune, like how she tackled Oscar (the tag says ozcar... Omfg), crying and calling him an idiot while Ren rushes over falling next to them and holding him there with Oscar short after.

Qrow pulls Yang and Ruby into a hug and starts crying which is the first time his nieces have seen him like this. They smile and hug him tighter as he goes off on how he thought no couldn’t handle loosing more people he loved, aka Summer. (I don’t think they had anything romantic I just like to say that they had more of a sibling bond than him and Raven.)

Sun would most likely be there and I’d like to see Ilia there because she witnessed the message that was broadcasted all over the world. She would have found out that Blake’s ‘dead’ but seeing her there would make her happy. Balked would be hugged by both of them as they cry and she’s tearing up happily as she tries to calm them.

Emerald, Ace Ops, Happy Huntresses, team CVFY, and their other found friends in Vacuo would be standing to the side. As well as Winter who’s pulled away because she still blames herself and saw Weiss dissipate into golden light and can’t believe what she’s seeing. She got a little closer as she would but stops herself as she feels undeserving of that affection.

(Or she full on runs to her and pulls her into a huge hug as she breaks down crying but wait I’m not done.)

Whitley full on tackles Weiss, she doesn’t fall but she does lose a little balance. (He isn’t that meaty still but he’d be working on it... I hope.) He’d cling onto his older sister like a life line, crying as Weiss hugs him back. His tears becoming happy as he is reminded of that warmth the first time they hugged. Willow would be right after, remember Winter is still in the background just standing stunned and ashamed, pulling Weiss and Whitley into the most protective motherly hold.

I would say Klein would hug her but I’m sure he’d wait. He was closest to her besides Winter and he knows her boundaries plus Winter hasn’t hugged her yet.

When Weiss realizes that Winter’s warmth isn’t there she lightly pulls away from Willow, still holding Whitley as she looks over to Winter. She can see Winter frozen, paler now than she was in Atlas looking as if she’d seen a ghost. (Now don’t mind me as I add some dialogue and story narration.)

Weiss - “Winter...”

Winter freezes more, sucking in a breath. She remembers the look Weiss is giving her just like the one she had before running from the Academy and being announced as a criminal. Before Atlas fell apart. It was remorseful, full of sadness and pity.

Winter - “Wei-“

She tries to stutter something out but she can’t say it. It doesn’t come out and she feels like she’s breaking. She wishes that she could hide behind a wall but all this time, after losing Weiss she couldn’t put up that barrier anymore unless it was in a battle. She had lost her sister seeing her disappear in front of her, dying but here she was alive. She had gotten lucky but she doesn’t feel like she deserves this, this chance to see Weiss again.

She looks up to see Weiss pull away from Whitley entirely only holding onto his wrist, turning to face Winter. There was no more pity in her eyes, no it wasn’t there to begin with she had just a massive amount of sadness, remorse, something else Winter couldn’t describe. That look however broke Winter. Tears now flowing from the older sister’s eyes still nothing coming out of her mouth. Winter’s vision blurring as she couldn’t concentrate, Weiss becoming a blur and all the prior exhaustion she had from countless nights of ensuring civilians safety was catching up to her.

She could feel gravity weighing on her, then an off balance before she felt gravity take its effect on her entire body. She’s falling now, fatigue finally getting the best of her as she closes her eyes awaiting impact of the rough, sandy, earth of Vacuo... but it never comes at least not entirely. She’s on her knees now being held up by something. Winter doesn’t move for a second before her tired curiosity got the better and she reaches for what’s holding her.

She feels something, something soft, alive. She can hear a beating heart and finally feels the two arms around her back that had been wrapped around her to catch her. Her vision, still slightly blur from the tears, cleared of fatigue and tiredness as she began to address what had caught her. She the blues, pastel lilac, inner red tones, the blues and whites. She see the pale skin and remembers the softness of it every time she had held it. She can see the glint of metal as a familiar sword, one someone was so excited to show her when it had gotten finished as it was a self custom design.

She remembers this warmth that feels like home, calmness, and entire comfort. Her little sister’s touch which had managed to snap her out of rages against their bastard of a father. The one she yearned to feel again after what happened in the other dimensional road way. The warmth she had full freedom to break in but refused as she didn’t want to be veiled as week, but now. Now she wanted to break, to fall apart in her sister’s arms. Apologize for everything, for being so put back, for not following the first second she noticed Ironwood slip, for not catching her when she tried to save her from all other hardships, but it wouldn’t come out.

Instead all she could do was move her arms around Weiss and hold her sister’s warm, blood pumping, heart beating, alive form with distress. Her head still resting a top Weiss chest so she can hear the heart beat bot not in a way that makes it loud and clear or hurts Weiss. Her Ingres tighten around the clothing her sister has on before she starts stuttering out, or attempting to stutter out anything.

Winter - “I-I’m sorry W-Weiss.”

All that’s coming out now are stutters of an apology. Apology for what? The she couldn’t get to her in time? For not being there for her more? Not being as open with her emotions as Weiss was with her? Not telling her what she thought of her little sister and how proud she is of her? Maybe all of those. She can’t say anything else but feels one of Weiss’s hand remove itself from her back which only Winter can reciprocate with clutching Weiss tighter. She feels that hand on her cheek as she’s forced to look up, right at her sister, and into Weiss’ eyes. That sadness still there but there is a smile on her face, an understanding and relief in her eyes.

Weiss - “Don’t be sorry.”

Don’t be sorry? What... why not? Especially after everything that happened. After all the times she’s failed her. Why was she being so forgiving to her? Is all Winter could think of as her jaw clenched, more tears began building, her eyes squinting now at the sun that was so conveniently behind Weiss, outlining her form. She couldn’t deny Weiss’s beauty even when she was younger than this.

Her sister’s hair down and draped over her shoulders, all curled from being in a braid far maybe a little to long. Her scar over her left eye the one she got from father’s test to be allowed to go to Beacon, a smile that radiated warmth and an inward kindness, a softer look in her eyes as they glazed over once again with relief. Winter’s muscles slacked a lot at this view as she remembered all those stories that portrayed stories of beautiful angels sent down to protect and spread wellbeing’s among others. That guardian angel that each individual was to get that would disguise itself and ensure their individual was protect. Now Winter never believed those stories to be true, but she’d couldn’t help but think if her sister was that guardian angel meant to protect her and not the other way around.

She thought for years that she was protecting Weiss but instead she was being protected by her or was all her supports to fragile heart, holding it together when she felt as if she failed from pulling Whitley away from Jacques. Her drive and momentum to keep gong to ensure that one day she could fully be free, and when following Ironwood failed she was rescued again by Weiss and her drive to save the lives of Mantle. No, she wasn’t just Winter’s guardian angel, she was Whitley’s and mother’s safe haven as well.

Picking them up if every they were to fall, and waiting for them, reaching out, pulling them from darkness, and helping them shatter their mirrors’. Helping all those who were suffering by the use of her songs no matter how angry it made Jacques or how much she was struggling for freedom as well. Changing all those expectations on has of Schnees when they meet her and get to know her.

Still when she was finally brought back to reality at the tilt of Weiss’s head and growing smile as a thumb ran over Winter’s cheek again and again. Speaking once more with her soft and calm voice.

Weiss - “You’re my sister and I could never blame you for anything that happened.”

This broke Winter as her tears came falling out without pause. She buried her head into Weiss’s chest needing to hear her heart beat. Holding her closer and tighter but still nothing. Well not until...

Weiss - “I love you Winter. I will always even if I’m dead, sister.”

I love you.

There it came, all at once the pain, remorse, sorrow, distraught, but most importantly relief. Relief that her sister was alive, that she survived. Relief that she was holding her. That, whatever fucked up fate this world had going for it, she could hold her sister again and was given a second chance.

That she’d defeat anything in her path if to ensure that this unlikely chance was not wasted one bit.

Wellllll.......... I got carried away with Winter finding how to express her emotions again. Began writing and couldn’t stop. Maybe I should make more of these just with different characters and not pick on Winter’s fragile state...

Or I could continue this Schnee angst and cry myself to sleep.

Anyways, I’ve got one more thing for the reunion.

Emerald is hugged, lightly but not without meaning as she holds onto the people that first called her a friend who she thought died. She’s crying by now as well.

Qrow also hugs Weiss and Blake, by now I’ll say he adopted Blake and Weiss and holds them close to his heart like family. This surprises everyone minus the people that travelled with them for most of their journey. Especially when Weiss and Blake hug him back just as tight, well Weiss a little less because she’s not used to being physically affectionate with anyone other than her team and the repaired bonds between her and her siblings and mother.

Klein gets a hug from Weiss because he is true Schneeblings’ dad, and to top it off all of his split personalities fight for control as he cries about how worried he was and how much he missed her.

After that Weiss drags Winter over to Whitley and holds them both close as Willow hugs them. Them just standing there, not entirely fixed but just glad that all the pieces to fix their family was there again.

And that’s my take on a reunion. And no I’m not sorry about the Winter and Weiss angst with hurt/comfort.

RWBY Vol8 ep7 review

AKA the episode where Razorblade is validated multiple times. I’ve already made posts to make this review a little quicker so hopefully I won’t take too much of your time.

This episode made me realize just how little we actually saw of Atlas. They have agricultural fields, parks, Sunny streets, and all. I got used to seeing it at night and with the icy blue aesthetic that it didn’t register that it would have regular colors and sunlight like everywhere else. Like I wish we saw more of this! It’s the most technologically advanced place. We could’ve gotten wacky here.

Considering how aggressive Yang is with the Ace Ops, I’m surprised she agreed to be cuffed. This scene did agitate me a little, but that’s vine fault. “Grimm don’t take prisoners.” Sir there is a whale on your kingdom and a queen of grimm. What is unbelievable about a grimm taking a person. A person you’ve been briefed on about being an ancient soul!? I talked about Ren’s moment in a different post but I’m very excited and terrified for the suicide retrieval mission that’s about to happen. I don’t know how far Yang, Ren, amd Jaune think they’ll get inside of Monstro but I’m interested on finding out.

So Hazel’s backstory got a boon for me. The fact that he killed Salem multiple times before breaking makes him switching to beating Oz more sensible, in a insane way. I say that because Hazel looked like he was about beat Oscar more after he told the password; tha man is livid about everything. I want Emerald to use the last question though. It’s a good Aladdin reference, Hazel doesn’t deserve any kind of closure to me, and it would great if Emerald asks Jinn if Cinder cares about her.

Anyone else find it weird they’re having coffee while people are dying!? Ruby and friends never ponder this long about helping people. Like I understand they are trying to figure out exactly where to go but I at least thought they’d be helping in the streets in the meantime. It makes sense for one person to stay back for Nora. I just found it weird

First of all, I’m glad Weiss still knows her kingdom is place to be protected like anywhere else. Second, the May thing made me a little sad. If you remember about a month ago I made a post about how it would be sweet if the only one good thing we get in regards to Henry is him and May actually being happy to see each other and getting along despite whatever family drama or role in life they chose. Oh well. I do however love May trying to compare her situation a little with Weiss through Whitley and Weiss rejected that immediately. Kudos to May though for saying something Ruby and her friends don’t seem to fully get. The perfect mission to save everyone doesn’t exist. Pick where you wanna help and do your best. It’s the reverse of last volume. May is saying “screw Atlas” and they’re like “No that’s messed up.” I get that their mentality and morality isn’t to abandon people, but you can only do so much for everyone as a whole.

Also apparently they never thought about breaking Qrow and Robyn out until now. They’ve been busy of course but I sorta assumed they had a vague plan to at least get Qrow back. That’s brutal. They just cut their losses there a little.💀

I do my best not to be nitpick. But how did she fall from Amity’s position near the mines and landed on the Schnee estate? I want a map right now. Also this makes me believe the main reason Ruby and Blake where confined to drinking coffee instead of saving people was so they would be around for this. Ironwood sent the Ace Ops to tundra to the area where she should’ve fallen. Unless you’re telling me grimm batted her around and knocked her way of course, plot put her here.

I’m fine with it for one reason only besides seeing Penny. The possibility of her going rogue and fighting Ruby has just spiked.

A look into the multiverse chapter 6.

Aka the worst written chapter I've ever done. I hate the reacts for this one, feels... weak. Hope you guys enjoy it.

The theater screen lights up and carama begins to pan over a city during night time Citizens mingle down the sidewalks on evening strolls. Above them, a helicopter flies low between the buildings heading for something. A red orb of light appears to chase after it. Shortly thereafter, a flash of gray bounced between the building at high speeds landing on the roof of one. The gray blur was a young Mercury Black, a grin on his face as he looked over the city. He looked to be around 11-12 and his hair was spiker then normal. He had a pair of ears on his head and short tails.

"Ah,yeah! This is happening!" Mercury exclaimed smiling.

"Mercury? Oh no."Emerald said shaking her head afraid of the ego trip her panter might get from this universe.

"He's fast, and… so young." Ruby pointed out.

"What's happening and why is he a fanaus?" Yang asked.

"He's not. He has two traits." Blake pointed. "He looks like a hedgehog though.

The young boy turned to sounds of sirens, looked down to see four police cars rushing to an emergency with screeching tires. He jumps down just in time to see them disappear around the corner.

"What's going down there?'' he mutters to himself. He curls into a ball and rockets after the cars, rolling like a bowling ball.

"That's actually a cool move." Mercury pointed out with a grin.

The police cars have formed a perimeter in front of a large building. Two helicopters hover overhead with their searchlights on as an odd watery figure lands on a police car and stand in place without moving or making a sound.

"That's a interesting creature…" Salem gave a little smile cross her legs thinking of a grimm similar to it.

"You are completely surrounded! Surrender yourself!" officer yelled as the squad aim their guns at figure. It hop over the police squad and they take aim and fire. The bullets only drop to the ground after colliding with it, the aqua figure giving off a low growl.

"Oh, no! Our weapons are useless! Retreat! All personnel, fall back!" The officer cried, him and the rest of the squad running away, a few firing a few more rounds as they ran.

"So it's bulletproof as well? This creature gets more and more interesting." Salem's smile grew larger as she watched the creature in action.

Mercury lands on the car and grins, looking at the being in excitement.

"This could be fun!" He stated he jumps into the air and attacks the monster with a kick, hitting it in what seem to be it's faces knocking it into a car, denting it. Mercury smirks a bit and immediately gets hit by the car that he had sent it into. The boy lifts the car off himself, not seeing to care that he got hit by a car. He cruels into a ball and rams into the creature and soon after the creature starts to run away. Mercury had a look of disappointment of how easy the fight was and chased after the creature.

Come on, ya big drip! Where ya goin'?"

"Yeah Mini me. That was an easy and boring fight." Mercury said with a shake of his head..

"Such a disappointing creature." Salem mutters while uncrossing her legs."

"That 12 year old got hit by a freaking car, and his only reaction was to pick it up and throw it back." Weiss pointed out. "Does nothing think that's amazing for a 12 year without AURA?" When one no answered she just looked back at the screen and muttered to herself: "I guess not."

The creature falls through a drain getting away, Mercury snaps his fingers in frustration as the camera pans into the air and shows smirking, evilly as he looks down at the hedgehog.

"Foolish child. That was Chaos, God of Destruction! And soon my plans will be realized! Watts begins to cackle madly.

Salem raises an eyebrow at the sight of Watts and Chaos. "God of destruction? An unfitting name for such a weak creature."

The scene cuts to Mercury lounging near a pool, sleeping as he hears a noise of a plane. He turns to see a younger Oscar flying out of control.

"Hey look another tiny Oscar!" Nora cooed at the sight of the farmboy." Oscar blush a bit in embarrassment.

"Why is he flying a biplane?" Ren asked.

"Tails?" He asked no one in confusion. His eye widen as he watch out Oscar's plan begans to pummel toward the ground. "Watch out! You're gonna crash! AHHH!" Oscar's plane crashs on the beach and Mercury facepalms groaning a bit. "Oh Tails. What am I gonna do with you?" Mercury curl into a ball again in a blink of an eyes rockets towards where Oscar had crash landed. He sees two legs poking out of the ground and grabs one, yanking the boy out of the sand and giving a closer look at Oscar. He was a fox, but a fox with two tails instead of one and he looked to be around 8.

Blake's stares a bit a Oscar's tails. "That's…. New. "

"Yeah a 8 year old flying a biplane is new right Blake?" Ruby said.

"I think she meant the fact the Oscars had two tails Ruby." Jaune replied.

Oscar blinks a few times and grins at the sight of his friend.

"Oh hey Sonic! Long Time no see huh?" He said casually.

"A child his age surviving a plane crash and only casually reacting to it. He must be very durable." Winter mused to herself.

"Hey Tails." Mercury greeted back, placing Oscar on his feet. "What happened there? You're too good of a pilot to make such a sloppy landing.

Oscar rubs his head. "That was a test run using a new prototype propulsion system. It's got a few bugs to iron out." Mercury raises an eyebrow. "Okay…... A Lot of bugs."

"No shit kid." Mercury snarks

" Why not just use my plane, the Tornado?"

"Thanks, but you gotta check out my newest power supply! Ta dahhh!" Oscar pulls a purple looking gem.

"WHOA! A Chaos Emerald!" Mercury looked it over in astosment.

"Oscar smiles a bit. "Yep! I just happened to find one of the 7 Emeralds during one of my test flights. This thing has unlimited powers, ya know... So I figured, why not use it to power my plane. Super charged! You gotta come over my workshop, Sonic! I've got something I've gotta show you! It's in the Mystic Ruins. The fastest way is by train. Let's go!"

The scene cuts to Mercury and Oscar running in a field when a voice stops them in their place.

"Ha ha ha ha! If it isn't !" Watts descended down in an egg shaped pod grinning maniacally. Oscar's tails stiffen in fear and he hides behind Mercury. Mercury however just looks at Watts with a grin.

Look! It's a giant talking egg!

Yang begins to laugh hard. "He does look like an egg!"

Salem didn't say anything but quietly laugh to herself, not seeing Ozpin catching her laugh with a bit of shock before quickly turning back to the show.

"Silence! I am , the greatest scientific genius in the world!" Watts growled

"Whatever you say, Eggman!" Mercury replied with a roll of his eyes and a dismal wave of his hand.

"Damn. Kid's got balls." Qrow said.

"Hell yeah I do. I'm always badass." Mercury boosted.

"Enough! I've got big plans and now I'm gonna put them to work!"

"You're always up to no good. Now what d'ya want?" Oscar piped up from behind Mercury. Watts glared at Oscar, causing the fox cub to to flinch and hide behind Mercury. Watts begins to rise higher in his pod.

"Awww. He scared little fox Oscar." Nora cooed again.

"I want all the Chaos Emeralds. Better not interfere! Or else!" Watts said looking down at the two.

"Or else what wimp?" Mercury taunted.

"Or else I'll take them from you by force... the hard way!" Watts goes behind the cliff and raise with his pod turning into a hornet like form.

It flies after the two firing missile that Mercury and Oscar dodge without any problems. Watts snarls as he attempts to ram into Mercury, the boy hopping over the machine, causing it to get stuck in the ground. Mercury land on his feet and curls into a ball, rocketing into Watts' machine knocking it loose from the ground. Watts flies around again firing more missiles at Mercury, But he plays hopscotch on each missile, About to reach the Egg hornet before Watts smiles as Mercury falls for his trap.

"Felt for it fool!" Watts cried and he powered the machine up for another ram attack. Before he made contact with Mercury's body, in a quick blur Oscar grabbed Mercury's hand and flew away from the attack, using his two tails as like helicopter blades to fly.

"Holy shit, he can fly?" Yang asked in surprised."

"Why the hell does he need a plane then?" Qrow asked being surprised as well.

Watts screamed in rage as he got stuck in the ground again. Mercury look up at Oscar and smiled.

"Nice job Tails now throw me so we can end this!"

Oscar smiled and threw Mercury as hard as he could. Mercury curls into a ball again and rams into Watts machine breaking it down. Oscar lands next to Mercury and they look over their work.

"Well, that wasn't so hard!" Mercury turned and ruffled Oscar's hair. Good work Tails!"

Watts fake being unconscious for a time and then let out a :Aha!" as giant claw came out of his machine and grabbed the chaos emerald Oscar's person. TThe two look in horror as Watts laughed himself silly. "Come on Chaos, time to eat!" The same creature Mercury fought last night appears and Watts give it the Chaos emerald, The creature name Chaos growing bigger. Watts look over the creature in glee. " Ooooh, yes! It's just as the stone tablets predicted. Ha ha ha ha ha! His strength increases every time I feed him a Chaos Emerald! With all 7 Emeralds in him, he'll be invincible! And work for me! Together, we'll destroy Station Square! And on its ruins, I will build Wattsland, the ultimate city! Where I will rule it all! Come on Chaos! Let's find another Emerald, shall we?" And with that Watts teleported away with Chaos." And with that, Watts and Chaos teleport away.

"So if he eats more of those gems he gets stronger? That doesn't sound good!"

Salem's interest in the creature was back and she was excited to see more of it.

Ok since the finale comes out next week, I think I’m gonna write up some predictions for how it and possibly v9 will go. for funsies.

1. Yang isn’t dead. I highly doubt crwby would kill off any of the four main girls, at least not before the final volume. I think she falls into another, lower layer of this dimension, and whatever is down there is probably either not good or inescapable (or at least, very hard to escape).

2. Assuming Yang is the only one to fall, I think she’ll be in this new place with the other refugees from Atlas and Mantle who Cinder knocked off when she went boom earlier. I think Yang will be a de facto leader for them, and this could be a great moment to parallel her with Raven, who is also a leader (Branwen Tribe). To take this a step further, assuming that Raven’s semblance can allow her to cross dimensions and not just space, I think she might come to save Yang and this would act as an interesting chance for them to develop their relationship (not necessarily in a positive way, just in a developmental way), and for both of them to reflect on how Yang differs as a leader from Raven (or maybe in some ways is the same, who knows).

3. Assuming that Yang is Not the only one to fall and the rest of team RWBY joins her, I think they’ll fall in this order: Weiss, Blake, Ruby. If that’s the case, I don’t think there will be a Raven-showing-up deal happening, and it will just be team RWBY trying to escape (and look after the refugees with them).

4. I think there’s a chance Cinder (and maybe Neo) will fall too, maybe even Cinder falls and pulls Ruby down with her (Grimm arm in the opening grabbing onto Ruby’s hand reaching out towards the staff aka Penny?). This could mean either Cinder and Neo become antagonists for RWBY to fight against in this place, or these two parties will have an opportunity to develop and interact in ways beyond just trying to beat the shit out of each other.

5. Penny won’t fall, and instead will join Oscar, Ren, and Emerald in Vacuo with the remaining refugees. This will be an opportunity for her to take on a leadership role and be her own person (also learn about herself and her new existence as a “real girl”). Jaune and Nora probably meet up with them too.

6. Maybe Jaune and Nora DON’T meet up with the others and instead get stuck in Atlas with Qrow, Robin, the Ace Ops, Winter, and Ironwood (and I guess Watts too). They’re all there to see Atlas fall (along with some remaining refugees maybe?) and have to deal with that fallout + possible bomb going off. Maybe Salem will reform herself and they will also have that problem to deal with as well (this could be an interesting opportunity for Nora to have that time on her own she mentioned needing to Ren).

7. I have no theories as to who wins in the Winter vs Ironwood fight, or the Qrow/Robin vs Harriet/Vine(?) fight and I Refuse because I can’t handle the stress sdlkfjdsl. Also no idea about Marrow or Elm but I’m just gonna hope they’re both alive and Marrow convinces Elm to side with him and Winter.

This is just a ramble and I’m not even gonna bother to read over this to check for typos or things that need correcting cuz I gotta head out in a sec but. wanted to type out my thoughts since they’re nyooming right now. Crossing all my fingers next Saturday doesn’t go to shit.

Character Status and Predictions as Of Today’s Episode (minor spoilers for chapter 5)

Team rwby Ruby: Woot woot! Our heroine got some TV time! She’s famous!... She’s also about to get traumatized. She’ll survive at least, right?

Weiss: Hey, guys! Her story line is coming to a close! How exciting!... she may or may not have anymore family after this. Welp... at least she’s got her team... I think?

Blake: Good kitty girl letting the team cuddle up to her! Extra pets for her! Might be seeing her dad again if he comes to help... or he might witness her die.

Yang: Houston, we have a problem. Oh, right, we can’t contact houston! Welp... Mantle is more fucked than she thought. She’s now facing a problem her fists might not be able to solve.

Team JNR

Jaune: Same boat as Yang.

Ren: His emotional break down has been interrupted by Ruby’s broadcast and now he’s back to the weather which appears to be cloudy with a 100% chance of grimm and this just in! Chances of flooding in Mantle are also about 90% and this water is black... So ya know, no more time to be mad at the fact that he’s and co are huntsman. Major death flags.

Nora: Close to death but in recovery. About to have some badass scars though! She’ll survive for now... But just in case: death flags.

The rest of the Schnee Family

Jacques: In jail where he belongs. He can stay there. Death flags.... death flags everywhere and well deserved.

Whitley: Can’t decide if he wants to be scum like daddy dearest or ask one of the women in his family for a hug... There’s still chance for redemption, boy! Go ask Weiss for forgiveness and hug it out!... or stubbornly don’t do that and wait for her to save your ass. Also death flags but he’s got the set up for redemption.

Ironwood’s real puppe- I mean, er... Winter: About to find out if her old friend is alive and if she is, force her to do something she doesn’t want to do. Iron daddy will make everything better, right? Likely will have to choose between her sister and Iron daddy.

Team STRQ:

Summer: Better off dead at this point instead of the new fan theories people are making about her and the hound.

Tai: Worried sick. Raven’s semblance would be very nice right now. Might come over if Raven is asked nicely?

Raven: Has no good excuse to sit this out unless she’s either still too chicken or she and Tai made up but forgot to use protection again and has another one in the oven. I really hope she comes in later as a pleasant surprise.

Qrow: Still mourning his would have been husband. Might escape jail either because Robyn rolls high on charisma with Harriet or Watts rolls high on intelligence.

Ironwoods other puppe- Ace Ops! I mean Ace Ops!

Harriet: In denial about her master. This hare can’t figure out if she wants to shake hands with the Robyn or not. About to force a downed comrade into doing something she disagrees with. Death flags...

Vine: Hard to say other than that he’s about to force a downed comrade into doing something she disagrees with. Who’s the puppet again? Death flags...

Elm: Same as Vine. Death flags

Marrow: Good boy misses his friends but currently still likes the taste of boots... but they’re starting to get a bad taste... right? Right? Currently Iron daddy’s bitch like his coworkers... *sigh* Also *heavy sigh* death flags...

Cinder and Co

Cinder: Bratty kid who’s only using Salem for her own gain. That’s playing with fire, girl. She’s gonna get it if Emerald and Neo take her back to mama Salem... and when Salem finds out. Something tells me she’s gonna take her anger out on Emerald for this loss since her semblance, the only thing Cinder likes about her, was useless...

Emerald: Poor girl just wants to protect her girlfriend... still doesn’t understand that it’s totally one sided. Her ‘girlfriend’ isn’t going to be happy with her for simping too hard.

Neo: Only here to avenge her boyfriend and then leave. Got beaten up by a grandma instead. Doesn’t quite understand she’s a scapegoat yet but probably will in a bit.

Others

Ironwood: Permitted someone access to the inside of an innocent girl’s head. Ironically paralleling Qrow in entrusting someone evil to help him out... probably won’t end well for him, either. Also Ironically allowed Amity to go up but didn’t do anything to help or protect Penny. Like wtf, man?! More like General Asshole, am I right? Currently getting played like a fiddle.

Penny: Has someone inside her who is about to probably make her do things she doesn’t want to do... like kill people and forfeit the relic. You did great, sweetie! I hope Watts dies for what he’s about to do to you! Death flags or wreck flags.

Watts: About to force an innocent girl into doing something she doesn’t want to do. Well deserved death flags for that... also, Salem won’t need him after this. Hey, Harriet! Give him an extra punch in the face for us!

Hazel: JUSTICE IS BEATING THE SHIT OUT OF KIDS SO OZPIN WON’T KILL ANYMORE KIDS! NOT A HYPOCRITE AT ALL! Back burner villain otherwise.

Salem: Proud of Ruby for giving the world a wonderful presentation about her. And Tyrian is Mr. Bigglesworth to her. Ozpin being into dominant women confirmed.

Tyrian: Salem’s current pet confirmed.

Mercury: Likely will be that asshole that says ‘I told you so!’ to Emerald if Cinder does turn out to chew her ass for ‘failing’ her (AKA; being too much of a simp). I may want this boy to have a chance at redemption but I will applaud anyone who hits him if he reacts that way. Back burner villain for now, too... *sigh*

Oscar: Getting beat up by an angry and very buff old man... poor kid. He needs help *eyes Emerald and Neo*

Ozpin: ‘You’re doing great, sweetie!’ he says to his current human meat shield- er... vessel.

Well we have a trailer folks... and it has left me terrified. In a good way. I have been hyped for volumes before, but MAN this kind of hope has me on edge. We know that we’re in for something massive, and I am afraid yet excited! The volume is planned to start November 7th (with possible changes) so we’ve got plenty of time to speculate. SO let us see what the trailer gave us and do some fun speculation about what may be happening. Remember, this is for fun.

We see Salem on a throne... and from how it looks, she may be inside the whale. You can see the teeth. Just to further this, here is a pic form a later point int he trailer.

Yeah. I guess she could be on top of it though, but I’m assuming inside and the Whale Grimm is like some kind of transport Grimm. We;ll talk more about the Relic later, though it does confirm at least to me that indeed Cinder will give it to her and it’ll put her back into Salem’s good graces. We’ll also talk about Cinder when we get to The Relic.

Over this, we hear Ruby talking. Salem is no longer hiding. Once she is done with Atlas she will turn tot he rest of Remnant. It sounds like Ruby is reasoning that they have to warn the rest of the Kingdoms. This could lead to them maybe trying to find a way to take control of Amity and finish it to restore communications. But... I also have another plausible theory.

Over the next few clips, we hear Ren and Nora talking. Ren is arguing that Mantle still needs them right this second, while Nora is arguing that the rest of the world is in danger. It sounds like the big conflict within the team si whether they remain to protect Mantle, or the rest of the world. Aka... whether they should abandon Mantle or not... just like they just fought with Ironwood about last volume... IDK though. I can’t see Nora doing that after how adament she was about Mantle last volume. It could just be them arguing on how to handle the two situations. But I do sense Renora drama incoming.

These likely all take place int he episode we already got sneak peaks for. My guess is that it’s probably episode 3-6. So we know that Yang, Jaune, Ren, and Oscar seem to be moving civilians and getting supplies. But what about Ruby, Weiss, Blake, Nora, and Penny?

It looks like they are up in Atlas. This might confirm my theory that they’re trying to get Amity running. Or it could be them trying to find Qrow and Robyn. Not sure. If I had to guess who they’re raising their weapons at, probably Ace Ops. I’ll talk about them later. Penny looks very taken aback, so if whoever the nemy is knows about Penny being the Maiden... yeah... nto good. But I am excited to see how Team RWBNP kick butt~

I imagine that Team YJRO and RWBNP will be happening int he same episode, or back to back episodes. If it’s the latter, the following scenes I believe will also be in the same episode as the previous image.

Chances are, Penny for whatever reason is reluctant to fight But some kind of ugly turn happens and she’s forced to go into Maiden mode. But it upsets her, and is why Ruby is hugging her. What would provoke it? Maybe something happened to Pietro. Maybe Ruby’s life was in danger. Maybe Ironwood appeared and said something to piss Penny off (like how she is meant to work for him, aka trying to reestablish his control). IDK. Either way, Penny’s gonna have a rough time.

Speaking of Ironwood...

He’s gotten a new prosthetic. This time black instead of grey. At this point, the only thing that’s still flesh that we know of is his head and like... one shoulder. The man is losing his humanity more and more, throwing away his heart. But you can also see Ace-Ops in another room. I am for certain that they are int here with Clover’s corpse. No, I don’t believe that Clover is coming back. Penny is the only dead character to return, and they explained hwy. Clover is dead people. I’m sorry, but he is. But it IS going to leave an impact...

We hear Ironwood get angry about one of his men (we don’t know who, but I am guessing Marrow) show concern about Mantle. It’s clear that Ironwood has deemed the city a lost cause and he could care less about it. Thus, his soldiers also have to not care about it. Harriet, Elm, and Vine look stoic... but something about Marrows expression to me conveys some sadness. Maybe it’s me hoping that he’s still going to have a change of heart since imo, he is still the most likely and has the best chance. I think that Clover’s death could push that, and maybe even the others even if they don’t want to say it. Or it could lead to their demise since it may just make them hate out heroes more.  We can only wait and see.

So finally, we come to the end of the video:

We hear Salem say that she has questions for the lamp... but she needs to find the one who can show her how. So it looks like Salem knows what the Relics can do, but not how to make them work. Interesting. So we see her hold the Relic to a Grimm. Now there’s been a lot of speculation about someone in the heroes getting kidnapped, mainly either Ruby or Oscar. After seeing this and going under the assumption hat this is some kind of hunter Grimm that can sniff anything out... I believe it’s going to be Oscar. Aside form Neo and Cinder, Oscar was the last to have the Relic for a long period of time. Also Cinder knows that Oscar houses Ozpin, which if she tells Salem will likely make her want him found even more. 

But I also doubt that Salem would send a Grimm alone to take Oscar. Especially if there are others there that can kill it. SO, let’s see... who would be a perfect person to send after the kid? I can't say for sure, Tyrian would probably be a good candidate. But if I can put forth another candidate...

Yeah, this may be Cinder's plot for the volume. Going after Oscar. I can absolutely be wrong, but IDT it’s implausible. She’s back in Salem’s good graces, so she’s either going to try and stay in it or eventually try to do her own thing again... you know,t he exact thing that got her into trouble to begin with. What'll his mean for Neo? FOr Emerald and Mercury if they appear? IDK. But I get the feeling that unlike the past few volumes, Cinder will score some kind of victory. Whether it be capture Oscar... or face down a certain little red. Eye for an eye, after all...

Anyways,t hat’s all we’ve got! Hopefully we may get osme more sneak peaks before November. IDK if they’re doing NYCC this year, but if so we may get more there. Regardless, the hype is real people. Gt ready if you want, but none of us will be ready for the chaos ahead.

Okay okay okay, actual thoughts on the episode because I am alive today, here we go (also I’m on mobile so I can’t do a read more so I apologize):

First of all: Who the heck was that person in the beginning? The person scrubbing the floor? Who were they and what significance will they have and why were they the first friggin’ shot of the volume?? I mean I think we know and I have my suspicions but I don’t want to put them out there yet because we saw them for like twenty seconds so my suspicions could be dashed on the rocks by a single throwaway line

The whale is a full on airship/aircraft carrier. It’s massive and uh big big big panic. Also Salem’s throne is the control center which makes it/this room extremely important if they decide to hit Salem directly.

Neo is going to backstab Cinder, those little comments and expressions are going to come back to bite Cinder in the butt, go off ice cream girl I’m here for you

Mercury and Emerald! And new outfits! Emerald’s is adorable and I love it. Also Hazel looks like a WWE wrestler. And poor Emerald getting shut down again, poor thing. That Emerald redemption arc is getting closer and closer every day folks.

I love the little mole man, also I’m still surprised Oscar is back with them so quickly but hey we’ve got two days so let’s do this.

It never even occurred to me that Mantle is still without power. But at least Salem hasn’t directly attacked yet. And the Happy Huntresses! And MAY AKA KDIN WHO I ADORE. I like Joanna and hearing her talk some more too and that they all teamed up together on this.

“We’re not done talking” yes please tell me that we’ll have a talk where Oz finally comes clean about the magic and maybe the Maidens we need another talk about it. I was really concerned that the conflict would be Ruby vs. Yang and that came to fruition real friggin’ fast didn’t it. And the team separation but at least they’re separate as teams and not as individuals. And Penny already accepting her role as the Maiden and protector even if it scares her. That’s my baby girl.

Seeing Ironwood’s face on the screen woke up so much dread you have no idea. Him guilting Penny and Ruby protecting her is giving me life though.

I was not expecting to see dead Clover and also for half a second I thought he was breathing and I was prepared to scream. And Ironwood having another prosthetic though I assume that it’s maybe just to stabilize his arm while it heals while also letting him still use it? And then Winter still being in rough shape after her fight with Cinder, I hope that doesn’t create issues for her once the action gets started again. And Harriet’s expression, I wonder if that’s anger or regret, and also her taking the Ace Ops forefront in this scene makes me wonder if she’s starting to doubt Ironwood a little bit. Especially since Ironwood is apparently shooting city officials for speaking out against him now because that’s not dictator-y at all, he’s gone off the deep end and I am very worried that he’s going to get into something he can’t Mettle his way out of but also I hope Qrow gets one good punch on the MOFO

The new Grimm looks doglike. Maybe a jackal or something? It looks smaller than I expected but I can’t wait to see it live.

Okay so now that intro is very much concerning me because there’s so much going on. First of all there’s a huge Nora focus so I’m wondering if we’re going to be analyzing her character and connection to Mantle/Atlas this season. Then the Renora conflict which I didn’t ask for but it was to be expected. And then there’s winged Salem which also really freaks me out because oh boy. Then Cinder’s arm causing her pain and starting to consume her more, I assume that’ll get touched on this season. And Team RWBY dropping into the Grimm pools and Ruby having the immortality shimmer is EXTREMELY CONCERNING to me because that implies so many things, first of all that they find something that could give it to them and also all of them being subjected to it? Um? UM??!! Even if Ruby’s the only one and that could give them an edge I’m also afraid of the implications. And finally of course is all of their weapons hitting the ground and then Crescent Rose being left alone as the final shot of the intro. Oof. There’s a lot going on and I am very, very afraid of what’s coming up this volume but also so, so happy it’s back.

See, the problem here is the way that’s gone about it. You can have men showing emotions, which is healthy. But it’s considered manpain if you have to throw others under the bus to give superficial meaning and goals to the male character in-question in order for them to have relevance. And Jaune Arc is a perfect example of what I’m talking about because of his shitty writing which Vomit Knights (aka Jaune Arc stans) defend constantly.

Sure sure, you’re totally not gonna end up talking about female characters indirectly that you would never call out because of gender.

When we learned that Pyrrha Nikos was slated to die for the sake of Jaune’s development in the commentaries by Monty and the rest of CRWBY -

Ruby.

In fact, RUBY has had more development and focus around Pyrrha dying than Jaune.

Not even gonna entertain the rest, the fact that Ruby is pretty much the focal point of the development completely wrecks the rest of the paragraph. No, ‘we never see them being friends’ is not a fucking excuse because both teams are established to be friends with each other.

The entire Jaundice arc is an example of Jaune’s ignorance and manpain because he denied Pyrrha’s help, despite how beneficial it was to him since it stems from the view that he had to do everything himself and he was being very aggressive about it. Yes, he was being bullied by Cardin with the threat of possible expulsion because of forged documents, and Jaune wants to protect his team - but considering the lengths he’s willing to go, wouldn’t it make sense to tell them the truth, instead of just Pyrrha? In the end, Pyrrha helped him in secret using her semblance and opted not to tell him to give a  confidence boost. Though I’m glad he apologized to her and she agreed to help him nonetheless.

Yeah, doesn’t manpain refer refer to a man being in pain, NOT arrogance? Seems like all your term has is a negative connotation towards men.

Also, can we get a quote on Jaune’s apology?

Jaune: (turning to her) "Pyrrha... I'm sorry. I was a jerk! You were only trying to be nice, and... I had all this stupid macho stuff in my head-"

Oooo, that’s gotta hurt. knowing that Jaune beat you to the punch.

Pyrrha’s death was used for two things: Jaune’s character development and upgrading his weapons.-

And Ruby’s development...in fact, MORE SO since Jaune’s being getting shafted for three volumes and counting,

The last bit spark much debate in the fandom since the weapons should’ve been returned to her family first and foremost.

Yeah, like a debate between rational people (saying that it doesn’t matter and t5hat she HAD to have more shit with her family) and bigots( who only really cared about ‘fuck Miles I mean Men I mean Jaune’)

And the former is connected to two other characters: Weiss and Cinder. During the fight in Volume 5, when confronted with the killer of his “love interest”, Jaune couldn’t keep his emotions in check and eventually charged in, starting the entire fight between the two groups. Ruby was knocked out by Emerald when she activated her silver eyes when she saw Cinder and Jaune charging at each other - bringing back horrible flashbacks to Pyrrha’s death. Weiss was needlessly impaled by Cinder since Jaune opened his mouth about “his life doesn’t matter as much as theirs”, which caused Cinder to target Weiss in order to make Jaune suffer.

This is fucked up because Jaune doesn’t pay any consequences for this; instead, he gets to unlock his semblance. Later in Volume 6, he and Qrow assault Oscar after learning the truth about Salem. He was in his emotions, despite knowing that Oscar is innocent and he’s just Ozpin’s meatsuit. Oscar proceeds to run away and the gang has to look for him.

Yang: *proceeds to do both and gets defended*

OOF, that gunshot really hurts huh? Especially since Yang was more hostile for less of a reason than Jaune.

But hey, she’s the right gender so who cares?

This is especially true since Jaune saved the person he got injuried while Yang had to be saved by the person she got hurt (Blake). FOr not keeping her emotions in check and thinking rationally. For less of a reason because Blake was only STABBED, not KILLED and INDIRECTLY INSULTED.

There is literally no way for you to attack Jaune without attacking Yang.

All of this ignoring how you CAN’T hurt a character who doesn’t give a shit about themselves by hurting them. Shirou Emiya got beaten to shit several dozen times in Fate Stay Night and he never learned his lesson until it started affecting the people around him because, guess what, he didn’t care about himself.

The next part really pissed me off because instead of seeing Oscar’s development and him adjusting to his new role when he ran away, we get ANOTHER scene with Jaune’s manpain about Pyrrha’s death i.e. the statue scene. He meets with a woman that could be Pyrrha’s mother, as she puts flowers on Pyrrha’s statue and talks about how brave and right she was to defend Beacon amongst a few other things, which eventually cheers him up. It’s also around this time that both Ren and Nora tells him that his self-loathing needed to stop (which in all honesty was annoying and needlessly angsty). And then we get whatever scenes happens after with Oscar getting new clothes and learning some type of lesson. 

So manpain just means...emotion. So the anon was right.

Because nothing is actually shown to be bad aside from ‘Jaune is sad’. And I know that if Ruby did this you wouldn’t because SHE’S ALREADY DONE IT.

Four characters were thrown under the bus for the sake of Jaune’s development and need to be emotional during times when it didn’t call for it (aka Manpain). Jaune has good and semi-relatable moments, but he’s rarely punished and gets away with A LOT of shit.

They say as they’ve shown Jaune getting punished and ignored the same shit with other character.

Not only that, you think that meeting the person who killed his best friend and saying said dead best friend’s statute is a time not to be emotional? Less so than Ruby making an offhanded mention to Penny or Blake getting stabbed?

Yeah I call bullshit.

Yeah, in this sense, it’s manpain because of the way the character is written in terms of various situations in the story - most of which end up sacrificing another character so he could have his moments. 

And yet when female characters do this, you couldn't care less.

Yeah, just keep telling yourself that.
