The Blacklist AU where cop-recently-turned-FBI agent Dick Grayson is called in by the assistant director after the infamous crime lord known as the Red Hood surrenders, offering himself as a criminal informant, but he'll only speak to Grayson. Instead of bringing up points about Elizabeth's father's criminal past, he reveals that he knows the Bats' identities. On Jason's side, everything happens like in canon until a little past the incident at Titans Tower, because then he feels bad for what's going on with the family, so he decides to put himself in the picture, without them knowing, of course. In addition, it's not Tom that's on the ventilator, it's Tim. And it's all because of the Red Hood, so Dick hates him for it. He's injured worse than in canon, but Jason does actually feel bad about it.

They've got a routine.

Each night Red checks the locks on the doors (Dembe does that, too, but better to be safe than sorry), strips his armor, pours himself a glass (or five, depends on the day he's had), listens to music, goes to bed.

He burns.

Darkness embraces him like an old friend when he wakes up gasping and shaking, the phantom feeling of burning spreading through his long-numb back, tears making his vision blurry.

He gets up and pours himself another glass and changes the topic when Dembe asks him how was his sleep in the morning (with time, Dembe stops asking).

Each night Liz checks the locks on the doors (her dad taught her that it's better to be safe than sorry and she always took Sam's lessons to heart), pours herself a glass of wine, puts some sitcom or silly romcom on and falls asleep halfway through.

She cries.

Darkness winks at her from the corners of the room when she wakes up, gasping and shaking, the images of her dad gasping for breath during an especially bad attack, herself gasping for breath when phantom Tom's fingers close around her neck, Ressler bleeding out in a glass cage, Red stumbling after real Tom pulls the trigger and for one terrifying moment Liz thinks that his fatal bullet found its target all blending into one seemingly endless film, the credits of which start to roll only when she gets up.

She stares at her phone for a long time, debating whether she should call number 1 (who's long since moved up from number 7) on her speed dial and eventually deciding against it, and lies that she's just got a bit of a headache when a concerned Aram asks her if she's alright in the morning.

Two gunshots and one confession later, their routine changes.

They check the locks together – twice – discuss their plans for the next day and go to bed together, curling protectively around each other.

Red burns. Liz cries.

They hold each other and, with darkness surrounding them at all sides, make a promise to never let go.

The light finally comes out.

Fandoms: Supernatural/The Blacklist Crossover/Fusion Pairings: Dean/Raymond/Dembe (in all combos) Word Count: 57k

SUMMARY: Dean Winchester, AKA The Mongoose and daddy’s little soldier, has found happiness in his new life with Raymond “Red” Reddington, doing what he does best under the safe umbrella of the FBI’s most wanted man and his extensive crime network. A world where demons and angels roam free is something Dean left behind a long time ago along with a father who told him nothing but lies and used him. Raymond never lies, but can he trust Raymond and Dembe when it means turning on everyone he ever knew and loved?

The concept of this fic has been playing in my head for years, but when I started writing it out over 2 years ago, it took on a life of its own.

I hesitated to post something that portrayed schizophrenic Dean jumping from an abusive situation to what might come off as another abusive relationship when my goal was to show him as choosing the healthier option, but still reveling in the dirtier aspects of it all. Hopefully I pulled it off.

As always with one of my schizophrenic characters in a fic, some experiences are taken from my own life (and what I've seen family members and friends deal with) and others are poetic license. Maybe I should put up a poll to see which aspects readers think were mine 😁

Oh, and with this fic, I've officially posted 2 million words to AO3 🎉

Pitch for a Supermassive Games installment:

1) The title: THE ENEMY WAY (referring to the Navajo traditional ceremony for countering the harmful effects of chindi, which are vengeful ghosts)

2) The premise:

In Arizona, the Yazzie family inherits a horse ranch that belonged to a distant relative. Although the Yazzies aren’t familiar with the practice of caring for horses, the family is nonetheless excited over the prospect of moving into a new location. What starts out as a fun trip to the new home quickly turns into a nightmare when they learn that the ranch is haunted by “chindi” aka vengeful ghosts. 

Chindi: The ghost left behind after a person dies, believed to leave the body with the deceased's last breath. It is everything that was bad about the person, the "residue that man has been unable to bring into universal harmony".

Based on the player’s actions, either the Yazzie family will be able to survive the night...or suffer the same fate of the ghosts that haunt their new home. 

3) Influences (movies that you can watch to get a feel for what I’m going for with this pitch):

Poltergeist (this is the main influence), The Exorcist, The Haunting of Hill House, The Conjuring, Insidious, The Evil Dead

Masha Rostova

I keep going through the same debate - that of Liz’s born identity. Dialogues can be found for each character, but I’m trying to keep this as short as possible. 

Alan Fitch

Knew Katarina had a daughter named Masha. He and Peter weren't on good terms, and he clearly didn't know Liz was Masha. If he did, he'd know why Red turned himself in. Every bit why I disregard Fitch as the person who exposed Liz’s born identity. 

Anton Velov

Didn't know the name of Katarina's daughter, only that she had a daughter. Every bit why I disregard Velov as the person who exposed Liz’s born identity.

Ivan Stepanov

Ivan didn't know Liz was Masha until he actually saw her. Every bit why I disregard Stepanov as the person who exposed Liz’s born identity.

Constantin Rostov aka Alexander Kirk

Because he believed Liz was his daughter, she was necessary for his survival. Every bit why I disregard Rostov as the person who exposed Liz’s born identity.

Ilya Koslov

Being Katarina’s childhood friend, knowing the danger Liz’s identity would put her in, and him promising to protect Masha is every bit the reason why I disregard Koslov as the person who exposed Liz’s born identity. 

Kathryn Nemec aka Mr. Kaplan

Working for Raymond, being Masha’s nanny, knowing the danger Liz’s identity would put her in, and her promise to protect Masha is every bit the reason why I disregard Kaplan as the person who exposed Liz’s born identity. 

Dominic Wilkinson

Created an imposter Katarina for the sake of protecting his grandchild. Absurd if anyone believes he was the person who exposed Liz’s born identity. 

Tatiana Petrova

Knew Liz was Masha, but appeared to be well and good in hiding. I have no reason to believe she exposed Liz’s born identity. Certainly not when Raymond was the very person keeping her safe in hiding. 

Jennifer Reddington

Jennifer didn't even know she had a sister. They were separated when they were young. Every bit the reason why I disregard her as the person who exposed Liz’s born identity.

Dembe Zuma

Worked for Raymond, actually considers him a brother, and knew the danger Liz’s identity would put her in. Every bit the reason why I disregard Dembe as the person who exposed her born identity.

Sam Milhoan

Sam was the very man that raised her as his own daughter. Knowing the danger it would put her in, he’d never expose Liz, so he’s easy to disregard as the person who exposed her born identity.

Carla Reddington

She knew Liz was Masha. Possible for her to expose Liz's born identity, but not very likely. She told Red she didn’t say anything about him or Elizabeth, and I believe her. 

Middle Man

Because these are the only characters who knew Liz was born Masha, and I can’t imagine any of them exposing her to the Cabal, there has to be a middle man. A friend, an employ, someone they’d trust enough to inform. To inform a middle man that Liz was born Masha, they had to know Katarina’s daughter by name and have reason to give it to said middle man. This dwindles the list to four names. 

Alan Fitch

Fitch didn’t always have an agreement with Raymond. In fact, he set him up with Berlin, allowing him to believe that Raymond killed his daughter. It’s quite possible Fitch gave Berlin the name of Raymond’s daughter for the sake of getting to Raymond. What makes this unlikely, is the fact that Berlin gave no indication that he knew Raymond had two daughters. When he assumed his own daughter was Raymond’s daughter, I think it quite likely he assumed Zoe was Jennifer rather than assumed Zoe was Liz.  

Carla Reddington

Carla could’ve informed the Cabal after Raymond put her in hiding, but again, I highly doubt she did. For the Cabal to get that intel from Carla, they’d first have to find her. When Raymond makes someone disappear, they literally disappear, and I highly doubt she’d put herself at risk of being killed by him for putting his daughter at risk.  

Tatiana Petrova

Tatiana could’ve been aiming for her freedom earlier than they’ve shown on screen, but I think it more likely she’d go directly after Red. Because she believed Red to be the real Red, I highly doubt she’d put herself at risk of being killed by him for putting his daughter at risk. 

Constantin Rostov aka Alexander Kirk

Constantin is my bet. He believed Masha was his biological daughter, so he’d most certainly go looking for his child. I wouldn’t be surprised if he spent the entire 30 years searching for her.

Constantin wasn’t able to enter the states because he’s just as much a criminal. Why take that risk when he can hire someone to find and deliver. The point of him hiring Scottie and Solomon to abduct her from her own wedding. 

I’m suggesting Constantin hired someone prior to hiring Scottie. Someone who’d know Liz’s born identity because Constantin didn’t know Masha’s new identity. Had he known her new identity, he would’ve come for her a lot sooner. Whoever he hired to find Masha, that person could’ve leaked Liz’s born identity to the Cabal. 

Expect Constantin Rostov to have a middle man, and that man be revealed to have leaked Liz’s born identity to the Cabal because Peter most certainly didn’t pull her name out of his ass.

The Blacklist, Season 8 episodes 8X21 (Nachalo) and 8X22 (Konets) unpack many answers!

Episode 8.21 Nachalo will reveal Red’s origin story and how he became the Concierge of Crime. [clue. Red is actually Katarina Rostova] 8.22 Red’s identity is revealed to Liz in her last dying moments.

In season 6 and 7 we have the episode Rassvet 6.19. Dom tells Liz a story about Ilya Koslov becoming Reddington. We know something is off when Red angrily confronts Dom and tells him he made things worse by telling Liz those things. We then see the stranger in ep.6.22 (s he was described at that time in the episode descriptions)  telling Red that Dom should not have told Liz that story.  We didn’t know yet though that this guy was in fact Ilya. FFWD to mid season 7, It is revealed that Ilya Koslov wasn’t the one that had the surgery to become surgery. He said only 3 people were involved... Himself, Katarina, and Dr. Koehler. No third man mentioned that was in the loop. “No one knows Reddington is dead” you and I know that... etc. If Red knows KR better than she knows herself and more than anyone, and they share one soul // one soulmate, than you’d think that he is another person she could turn to. No third man is ever talked about. Ilya is the *only* Man Katarina can trust. That is why she turns to Ilya instead and asks HIM to take care of Masha if anything were to happen to her. We then find out mid season 7 that the Red we are watching is not in fact Katarina’s childhood friend, Ilya Koslov. Ilya Koslov is actually the stranger aka “Frank”. He wasn’t the one that became Reddington. Combine this with the fact that we know that only two people on the planet knew that RR died that night and that the PLAN to become RR involved Katarina, Ilya, and Dr. Koehler. No one else!

In S8E21, we get confirmation that the woman presented as Katarina in S6 and S7 was in fact not the real one. But before that in ep 8.02, she found out from Dom where KR was living and her new identity. We know that Faker had been looking for the real one the whole time. Once Dom tells her, she makes a beeline for Red and tells him that he was right in front of her the whole time. She even mocks Red by telling him that she wonders what it must be like for him knowing he can’t kill her because of how much Elizabeth loves her Mother. 

Finally we have the Townsend Directive and N-13. Red is N13 and so is Katarina. Townsend needs to find N13 (who is responsible for the slaughter of Townsends family/children) and kill their child in front of them as payback. Ivan whispers to Townsend something that Red said would make Townsend wanna kill Liz. Red admits that both he and Katarina were ultimately responsible for the deaths of NT’s family. Two plus two equals 4. That is why Red knew that he would kill Liz. 

We get to Rassvet and Konets. 

8.21 Right from the very beginning of the episode, we have Red and Katarina’s voices blending together as one.  “You. Me. Your Mother (voices blending together) “To understand why I came into your life, you need to hear my story.”

Red told Liz that he erased her memories in S2. In Nachalo, KR said she was the one. They both said they did it to protect Liz. This episode confirms that KR was burned. In the episode Requiem, we see the back of her shirt burned in the same upper left hand corner where Red is burned. KR touches the banister in the Tacoma Park home. just like Red did in S1. The camera specifically focuses on THAT. They show Red’s memory of Bubble Girl when Looking out the window but this time we see it was actually kR’s memory. Liz tells Katarina’s “ghost’ “Everything about you is a lie”. That circles back to the line in the pilot where Red said that everything about him is a lie. Further proof that Redarina was always the story since inception and it has never changed. We hear Katarina say that her mother understood her but that her father was unyielding. Tie this is with Red telling Liz when he was having his final death meal that his mother understood him but his father did not. 

We have both ilya and Katarina saying that Dom couldn’t accept the truth of who became Reddington.

The camera pans to Katarina’s face when Dom said: It was HIS fault that a plan was needed in the first place. Just rewatch that scene and look at the expression she makes.

The Fake Katarina/Tatiana said that who she had been looking for was the real Katarina. We hear Dom say in Nachalo that he told Tatiana where the real Katarina was hiding and what her new identity was. Afterward, the fake KR makes a beeline to RED and tells him that all those years searching and he was right in front of her the whole time. Add in Jon Bokenkamps interviews where he said that what this woman was after had to do with Red’s identity.

Both Red and KR said in this episode that they slept with both MEN AND WOMEN.

This is A Man’s World The Song plays during the scene where the new Reddington is undergoing surgery and then afterward.

Konets

Liz asked Red why she couldn’t know who he was until after he had died. He replied by saying that if she knew beforehand she’d never agree to kill him.

In Liz’s final montage where her life flashes before her eyes, her final scene is of her directly looking into Red’s eyes and an image of her mother comes into focus. For half a second her eyes and mouth are wide open. this is when she knew. Then after she closes her eyes, Red himself has a flashback of himself as Katarina kissing baby liz when she was born.

Uhhh really so Red tells Liz aka Masha while they are on the run that she is his Polaris. While they are in a shipping container on a ship in the middle of the sea. He also talks about wanting to be a ship captain when he was younger. And Raymond Reddington worked his way up through the ranks of the Navy aka the water branch of the military. He is also known to say how much he loved Liz

And either spelling of Lizzie or Lizzy is the same two meanings as Liz and Elizabeth. I find it interesting the meaning is spiritual. But promise and oath are interesting as well when you look at the meaning behind other names like, Raymond, Sam, Dom, Ilya, or Ivan.

Oath - a solemn promise, often invoking a divine witness, regarding one's future action or behavior. - a profane or offensive expression used to express anger or other strong emotions.

Promise - a declaration or assurance that one will do a particular thing or that a particular thing will happen. - assure someone that one will definitely do, give, or arrange something; undertake or declare that something will happen. - give good grounds for expecting (a particular occurrence or situation).

Raymond - “counsel” & “protection.”

Counsel - advice, especially that given formally. - lawyer or lawyers conducting a case

Protection - action of protecting - a person or thing that prevents someone or something from suffering harm or injury. - a legal or other formal measure intended to preserve civil liberties and rights.

The Raymond Reddington we know claims to be the one who is supposed to protect Elizabeth or Masha from the mistakes of her parents.

Lena (KR’s mom) - torch

Dominic (KR’s dad) - of the lord or Dom - Lord

Katarina’a parents names make me think her mom was the evil not her dad.

Ilya - "the power of God"

Ivan - god's gracious gift

Katarina and our Raymond Reddington’s friends names are interesting as well. Ivan being a gift from god while Ilya being the power of god who supposedly took the identity of Raymond Reddington at least at first to get the money needed to hide Katarina and maybe fund the change of who ever is the Raymond Reddington we know.

Tatiana - fairy queen

This one I found interesting since it is the real name of who we were led to believe to be Katarina for a while until we learned the supposed truth of her being hired by Dom to be a fake to lure the KGB off the real Katarina’s trail.

Let’s look at Tom and his 3 known names…

Tom - "innocence, naivety, simplicity" or "the end.”

Jacob - supplanter

Christopher - bearer of Christ

The fact that his birth name is a name bringing up religion but then Jacob is a supplanter 😳 and then his name for while with Liz meaning innocence and “the end” 😳 how do you not read into that?

Supplanter - something taking the place of another

Agnes - chaste

This one cracks me up… considering the theories around who the kid’s father is. 🤷🏼‍♀️😂

Chaste - abstaining from extramarital, or from all, sexual intercourse.
