i have returned, team tumblr 2. meet my babygorl Dragonslayer
[id. A sketch of a Pyro from TF2, but as OP’s oc, Dragonslayer. She’s wearing on top of her usual pyro clothing and mask a leather jacket with flame decals and a knight helmet with the visor up. Taped to the visor is a singular antler, and on her “nose” is a light-up nose, like Rudolph. End description]

I read your tags on my post twice, and I literally have to ask about Jerry. Tell me literally anything and everything you want to, that is Such a fun a concept
There is so much about Jerry. So much.
he is technically a human. technically. he's currently a talking sword! he also is *checks notes* 397! He died/got stuck inside the sword when he was in his late thirties/early forties and then he's been in the sword for about 360 years!
how did he get in the sword?
this requires a little bit of backstory explanation. basically two of the four MCs of my main wip (Frost & Fire) are half dragon, half elf, and their parents were, once upon a time, adventurers! so was Jerry! do you see where I am going hopefully? they were adventurers together!
during one of their later quests they needed to kill/defeat a (theoretically evil) dragon. dragon lairs have weird weird magic.
sometimes weird magic will mess with souls and stuff.
sometimes when you perish while fighting a dragon in a dragon's lair your soul gets, uh, a little lost.
(further below cut because uh. length!)
well, a lot lost. part of jerry, the part thats actually his personality and his memories and stuff, got stuck in his sword (the name of the sword was Dragonslayer. This means that sometimes Jerry gets called dragonslayer)!
Through a series of events that I'm still not sure of the sword, with him inside, is lost. for several centuries.
Then! someone finds it! in a weird crypt underground that is definitely not where they put him last but whatever maybe he got lost (he did. he got very lost! this man does not have a sense of direction whatsoever!)!
the someone who found it?
Anastrannia Galendel, the youngest (at the time she was ~120, currently in the story she is 267) daughter of the people Jerry used to adventure with!
she did not know Jerry knew her parents. Jerry did not know she was the daughter of his old friends. it took like 4 months for that to be figured out.
now Ana has a talking sword who makes rude/annoying/absurd and occasionally helpful commentary! On Everything. he does not know how to shut up. should not have given the sword the ability to telepathically communicate with whoever is carrying him and/or speak aloud like a normal person. i really should not have done that.
but also its fun so whatever! its fun!
Some of his more funny commentaries from the first draft:
You and I are awfully small compared to this dragon. Could fit both of us in its mouth. At the same time. And swallow. No need to chew. It's enormous.
You know, this reminds me of the one fight with the cat. Where you almost died? Fun times.
Fire. Bad. Avoid fire- oh yes. Please throw me to the ground once more, I very much enjoy laying on dirt.
Oh. That hurt. Mind if you stop bashing my face into scales?
And his intro scene from draft 2 (current one):
“When did you get here?!?!” I shrugged. “About five minutes ago. Nice sword.” “Thank you!” said a new voice. It was my turn to whirl around, searching for a source. There wasn’t anyone else in the clearing, or in the edge of the trees. I resorted to holding onto a branch and leaning over the edge of the cliff to see if someone was hiding on the wall, despite not knowing how that could possibly be true. “Over here.” I spun towards the voice, and found myself looking at Anastrannia’s sword, which she had now fully unsheathed and laid on the ground. It took a few seconds to sort out. “Is your sword… talking?” “I have a name!” “Shut up, Jerry. Yes, Enna. He’s talking.” “Well that’s new.” “Its not, actually. Several hundred years old.”

Here are both my pieces for the @bdubszine !!!!! Such a great opportunity to run with it and just have fun with detail work.
I am in love with sungod bdubs and very proud of this piece with the improv class^^
Down below is some in depth talk for the first piece with bdubs and all his clocks :D
The one on his chest is a regular minecraft clock - he always carries one in his offhand. In the background his his big tower from his "building with bdubs" series. He is wearing his moss cloak. On his wirst: A clock with a horse: he loves horses. also it actually is inspired by the horse-mountain he build in season 9 of hermitcraft A purple clock with ears: a purple panda clock. He joined one mcc (minecraft championship) and one it first try on the team called purple pandas) A tnt block-clock: Season 7 of hermitcraft he had, alongside impulse and tango, a company called "the boomers" who would explode stuff with tnt for diamonds - bdubs stick was he would die in every blow up they do (there are compilations)
in his jacket: The clock looking like a ring: reference to double life. He was soul-bonded to impulse and they lowkey roleplayed as a married couple and impulse gifted him a clock as a sign or marriage. therefore it looks like a ring. it also has "i" pointers because impulse always puts "i"s on his stuff A regular alarm clock: Basically that - maybe a reference for him always sleeping through the night. The red glasses clock: reference to season 8. He, tango and keralis based together and called themself "big eyes crew" and they all wore red glasses Emerald shaped clock: season 9 as the right hand to king rendog (theres also a crown inside the shape) emeralds because rendog and bdubs wanted to change currency to royal emeralds which started a war on the server and led to rendogs execution. bdubs stayed loyal till the end "hep" clock: Season 7. He plays right hand man to mayor scar. There was a turfwar between two groups - one wanted their main island to be mycelium the other wanted it to be grass. HEP was the group who wanted grassblocks so its a grassblocked shaped clock. they lost the war clock with a snake: 3rd life reference. Inside the clock theres a castle "the crastle" which was his and cleos base in 3rd life. The snake stands for cleo. the heart is part of the logo for the traffic series (same btw count for the heart in the impulse ring) sundial: reference to the hermitcraftxempires smp crossover. bdubs came to empires smp and announced himself as "the sungod" and basically became a god and gem, oli, fwhip and sausage were his followers for the short time. the shape is after a build sausage made in his name the "B" sign: reference to last life. He was part of team B.E.S.T. and they had shields with their initials aka Bdubs, Etho, Skizzlman and Tango. The four hearts are the lifes he was given at the start of the series half tnt clock: reference to ethoslab who is his best friend on hermitcraft and they are just unnormal about each other messed up steam punk clock: reference to the create series he did with keralis, tango, scar and zedaph who unfortunatly was short lived mcc coin: the coin he got for winning mcc broken heart monitor clock: limited life. there's a heart monitor and digital clock. the clock is broken because bdubs didnt uploaded his view for limited life (at the time of drawing this piece) so we never new how much time he had left (we know now) small pocket watch with snake and wings: also limited life. he teamed up with scar (the wings) and cleo (the snake) tree clock: the tree of whimsey. one of his first builds of season 9. he crowned tango as parkour king, cub as royal magican/dragonslayer and ren as king under it
rest of the smaller clocks are filler

so Drimo for those of us who do not know what is the Armored Core series about [leaves out convenient soapbox for no reason]
If you asked a room of 100 people nowadays, "do you guys know FromSoftware?", the majority of them would stand up and answer, "oh, yeah! The guys that made Dark Souls, right?" You would hear about people wondering when Bloodborne will be ported to PC, or when it will get a sequel. You would hear lamentation for the lack of Sekiro DLC. You would hear praise and anticipation for Elden Ring DLC.
If you were in 2008 and asked a room of 100 people, "do you guys know FromSoftware?", maybe 4 would stand up and say "Oh, the guys that make Armored Core, right? My cousin had it, it looked ok."
The truth of the matter is, FromSoft was a niche studio before Demon's Souls planted a seed and it grew into the massive tree we know as Dark Souls, and its countless branches lush with beautiful flowers, like Bloodborne, Sekiro, and Elden Ring. It even inspired nearby trees, all beautiful in their own right! Trees like Code Vein, Nioh, and others.
But I'm not here to talk about fucking trees and their god damn branches.
I'm here to talk about the sterile wasteland, the wilderness of fallen angels, where the ocean meets the sand. I'm here to talk about pre-Soulsborne FromSoft, when FromSoftware was an unknown, niche, small video game developer barely hanging on to relevancy. They had games like King's Field. They had games like Shadow Tower. They had games like Armored Core. Hell, all of these games still live on in Soulsborne! Did you know? The notorious Mushroom enemies that punch your entire lifebar out from Dark Souls are originally from 1999's Shadow Tower:
Tumblr media
Iconic boss fight, Seath the Scaleless from Dark Souls? He's originally from King's Field 2!
Tumblr media
The well-loved bald rascal with a penchant for annoying fighting styles and kicking, Patches? Originally from Armored Core! Lucky Patches AKA Patch the Good Luck:
Tumblr media
The Moonlight Greatsword? That's originally from King's Field:
Tumblr media
Knight Commander Dragonslayer Ornstein? The Bloodborne Reiterpallasch? Armored Core originals, baby:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The truth is, Soulsborne is as dear to old school FromSoft fans such as myself as it is because it carries the past of FromSoft, it carries part of all the old games. The old, niche, unknown FromSoft that we fell in love with lives on in this new, successful, popular FromSoft of nowadays, all without selling out. FromSoft's design philosophy and mission statement has always been to make things that are out there, that aren't generic, that have that slab of esotericism to it, that are inspired and raw and difficult and challenging and oh so rewarding. Soulsborne wasn't a surprise hit. Soulsborne exists built on a foundation of trial and error that carries in its DNA years upon years upon years of difficult, niche titles. I've not even mentioned all the Tenchu references that Sekiro has! How the Powderkeg weapons from Bloodborne are mostly Armored Core weapons scaled down to human size, such as the iconic Stake Driver being the mighty Kiku from Armored Core!
Armored Core was the biggest franchise FromSoft had prior to Soulsborne. The biggest. And it wasn't too big, to be honest. A rather niche, unknown game franchise with numerous titles that did just well enough to justify sequels, with strong cult followings, Armored Core is all about that mecha high octane action, right? Well, it's 50% about that mecha high octane action! Your average Armored Core is a high intensity, breakneck fast game full of machine guns, laser swords and huge explosions when you're in the field, but in order to be able to do that, you must construct your machine, your Armored Core, piece by piece. Not just the chest core or the head piece or the arms, we're taking about generator, radiator, targeting system, thrusters, subsystems, all of that! And each given piece has a stat screen that looks like this:
Tumblr media
This is a single laser rifle's stat screen. Every piece has about this many numbers to it. As you can imagine, it wasn't everyone's cup of tea, but for those that took the time to understand it? That familiarized themselves with the game well enough to just be able to look at a piece and understand what it did and roughly how well it performed? Oh, this was to die for. The amount of unique builds, of mechs that were your very own, unique creation, catering to your own specific tastes, was basically infinite. You could make your own dream gameplay machine, that operated in exactly the way you wanted it to. 50% of the time, you were in your garage, tinkering, mixing and matching different parts to improve your Armored Core more and more, to make it better, comfier, stronger, cooler.
Do you know what was influential in Dark Souls' success? And I say this with all the love in my heart, as a massive Dark Souls fan: It was simplification. Dark Souls is a different beast in many regards, of course, compared to Armored Core, but what Dark Souls did was simplify the Armored Core formula, in both comparative gameplay execution and building, and focused on other aspects, like making incredibly cool unique enemies, polished combat, great enemy placement, the works. But end of the day, Dark Souls is a simplified Armored Core. You're not boosting around and firing laser weapons in Dark Souls, but the fundamentals are all there: Tempo based fighting, with intensifying speed, lots of numbers to play with in order to optimize your character to your preference and needs, and the flexibility to switch around builds to certain degrees, more so in the mid game and late game. Hell, the ever-present "little plain white number above the enemy that shows you how much damage you did recently" and how Poise works in Dark Souls are both originally Armored Core things. Most every Armored Core veteran that I know, myself included, that played Dark Souls just felt it click naturally after a bit. Because it's an extension of Armored Core (and King's Field/Shadow Tower).
Armored Core, since its inception, has been about being a mercenary in a callous world where companies that are as powerful as countries, plural, wage in economic war with each other. Rarely has there ever been a good guy in Armored Core, it's the pristine FromSoft absolutely horrid and doomed world narrative that they love so much. You can even go into debt! Your rewards at the end of any mission are affected by how much ammo you consumed and how banged up your AC got, you have to foot the bill for repairs and ammo (unless your client specifically states that they'll cover it for you), and if you don't perform too well and end up going into sufficiently big debt? Why, you forcibly get put into the Human-PLUS program to offset your debt, which actually makes your stronger, since it gives you the ability to ignore Total Weight restrictions and gives you infinite energy! At the cost of, you know, your humanity. At that point, you're literally just a corporate drone with more machine than brain in the nogging. It's a fancy Easy Mode toggle, so to speak, that comes with lore. This game is from 1997. Even from back then, they were making stuff like this. The setting of Armored Core is ruthless, cruel, and brutal... And yet, beautiful, the little things, they are there. But I won't tell you about them. You have to find them yourself. The beautiful things only have value if you find them in a horrid world by your own merit.
This is true for Armored Core, and this is true for Dark Souls.
Armored Core, on a personal level, is what I grew up with, what inspired me as a child, the kind of storytelling that gives you a few explicit morsels, and the rest, figure it out yourself. Armored Core is basically what came before Dark Souls. I consider Soulsborne sequels to Armored Core. They are so very alike.
Brutal gameplay, challenging management, ruthless storytelling... It's heaven.
Armored Core is a series of a gaming era long gone. Armored Core is the opposite of "cinematic experience" games. Armored Core is brutal, it wants to test you, it grants you no quarter, but it wants you to succeed. Armored Core wants you to master its management systems and its high speed combat. Armored Core wants you to be a sharper, better you.
Armored Core is a video game series about giant robots blowing each other to bits.
Armored Core is both a test and teacher, and it wants you to win. It wants you to become the you that can beat it.
Armored Core loves you. Armored Core will do all in its power to prevent you from winning. Armored Core knows you can win, which is why it tries so hard.
Armored Core is a good video game.

Behold! Scugs!
Tumblr media
My slugcat OCs! The Dragonslayer and The Painter ( aka Runt ).
Dragonslayer is a self indulgent scug, I have a love hate relationship with them. I loathe Cyans, though. They’ve been the end of me so, so many times. I’ve projected this onto DS.
Painter was my first scug OC, essentially just a Slugcat that uses different dyes it can make to… well… paint murals around ( and on or in ) its Iterator friend’s can. They weren’t created by said Iterator, rather right place right time. Despite its size, it’s fully grown.
I’m not too proud of how Runt came out, but that’s alright.

So I was getting my afternoon Dutch Bros today (dragonslayer iced tea aka my reward for getting through little kid ballet camp in the mornings) and there was a guy who tried hitting on me. And then I told him that I was in a relationship and not interested and he was like “well your boyfriend doesn’t need to know” and like first of all ew and second of all WHY and third of all he was not amused when I showed him a pic of me and Zari and fourth of all WHYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY?
Has this ever worked in the history of history? I seriously want to know.

Colors of Another Sky: In Vino... Sequel-Is?
AKA the perils and plotholes of needing a wine-based cure in 1600s Korea.
Oh, this is going to be fun to explain.
Ahem. I will try to sum up.
So I invented a nasty infectious curse, like the Evil Writer I am, based on folklore.
And then a cure, also based on folklore. Both of these, however, are something the locals have to take a lot of swings and misses at, because it’s not Asian folklore. The dratted black dragon is a literal Out of Context Problem for our heroes, because it’s a European dragon.
Probably Germanic. I’m still figuring out how it got to Japan in the first place, but it was running from some very determined dragonslayers. So, like any smart predator, it lit out for territory with more unwary prey.
The Japanese, and then Korean and Chinese “locals” weren’t unwary long. Unfortunately things quite deadly to an Eastern dragon (if you want to know why samurai sometimes lick their swords, well....) do pretty much zip to a Western wyrm. Meaning the only way to go after it was massed artillery and cultivators using brute magical force. It was declared dead. The Chinese generals involved swore they’d blown it to pieces and burned the body, as was appropriate for foreign monsters.
(Namhansanseong’s Demon-Callers, having fought the beast more than once, were not so sanguine. Chae, who had way too much experience with Chinese generals, didn’t buy it for a minute. The prince newly crowned king of the Korean Peninsula... well, suggesting the noble allies from the glorious Middle Kingdom might have, perhaps, been mistaken, would have been extremely undiplomatic. Why, the generals might have felt forced to stay longer to prove it! With all those troops to feed and incidents of rape and pillage rising....
The King did order the Callers to track all the places the beast had been, and watch for any signs of another winged foreign monster. That’s just common sense, right? Right.)
So think of an out of context dragon-curse as like an out of context disease. Smallpox and measles in the Americas, or cholera showing up around the world by ship traffic in the 1800s. Local healers have no idea what they’re looking at. They try what they know. It fails. They try something else. And hope not to get killed in the process.
In this story they find a cure. But it takes ingredients they don’t have, locally. Specifically, wine.
This is why I try to double-check any story-important details with research. Korea, after all, has had a drinking culture for centuries if not thousands of years... with grain alcohols. As best I can find, winemaking only got started in the late 1800s with Christian missionaries, and later the Japanese Occupation, and - it’s a mess.
Back to the safer history of the 1600s. Their best chance to import wine fast would be the Ming Dynasty. I’m sure our heroes will; they have access to trade networks, cultivators who can travel distances, and they don’t need a lot to start. Though they will need enough so every coastal town eventually has some to make emergency treatments until more help can arrive.
The problem is going to be what they find out in the process of creating the cure. Which implies certain trade sources (yes, Ming China) may no longer be safe.
Politics. Ugh. If imports are problematic you see if you can produce a local substitute. And in fact there is a local grape in Northeast Asia. The Amur grape.
A relict species, from when Manchuria was warmer and wetter. It can’t take the drought other grapes can, but it is extremely cold tolerant. It’s also very sour, unless dead-ripe. But you can make wine with it. If you have a winemaker.
...If you know where to find it.
Very sour vine fruit is not what people think of when making alcohol. And if you look at the wiki page, it has a knack for looking like other vines, and who knows how local magic might have pushed that to extremes.
Our Korean heroes might not know an Amur grape if it bit ‘em. Chae’s heritage and travels mean she’s familiar with a different species, Vitus vinifera. And all Jason knows is a name - the Amur grape. He’s lucky enough to know that specifically because “things that survive Ice Ages” is a hobby of his. But the river isn’t called the Amur on local maps....
I’m thinking this will be an excellent problem for the next book, along with trying to get camelpox for variolation. And both of those will mean Manchuria, and Jurchens, and my bunnies have their heart set on demon tigers. And maybe Ansiseong.

Where I’ve been and why I didn’t post any new OC of my WIP: Book II in the last 10 months
Oh boy. Where do I even start with this. I stopped active writing / editing my book in late August of 2021. My last „real OC entry on here“ was around April of 2022. But why you might ask?
In April of 2019 Google+ got shut down. (Please bear with me this is relevant). Because of that I had a mad scramble to get all my posts saved on there. (Didn’t work out how I intended it to - but that’s life). I posted a lot of plants and flowers with short descriptions as a passion project. After that got shut down I had to move to a new place. So I opened a Google Sites website. (Only took me 4 months until that was finished). Because of that less and less of my free time I had to work on the WIP.
In October of 2019 I had the brilliant idea: I could make my own website. So I copied all my work from my Google Sites page to my website and worked on that. My own website launched on the 01.01.2020 at midnight.
During that time it grew a bit in popularity because of my account on the platform with the blue bird in the logo. So I spent most of my time working full time and building up my website.
My WIP 🚧 got kinda abandoned for a few months. Up until mid 2020. I started working on and off on it again until the end of 2021. The notes I got on my posts on here dwindled down tho, because i didn’t post as many snippets and pieces of OC on here anymore. I really wanted to turn my vision into a real book. I had searched for publishers and all.
So i thought, the less I share the less can be stolen from my idea. (Resulting in less interactions on my posts).
Around April 2022 I kind of lost interest in publishing my work again because I saw how „bad“ it all was. It’s no coherent idea/ story. A bit of a mashup between many genres at best.
I shifted my focus on my website again. Letting that take up my free time again. (Currently it has about 300 posts about plants on it - all in German tho).
I went on a silent hiatus on here. Not wanting to disappoint anyone. I thought no one would notice if I vanished.
That brings us to today. I picked up my WIP again. After so long. I want to work on it again. And somehow cut everything that I don’t need in it. I’ll keep a kind of „directors cut of everything“ but I’ll try and edit it so it makes more sense and puts all storylines in a coherent story.
I hope that some of my followers are still interested in progress updates and short snippets.
I can’t guarantee for anything. But I sure as heck will try my best.

Pretty much every time I play Rain World I end up adding to Daiki’s colony
So I have two, two slugs.
The first I decided that I wanted to choose violence during co-op (my friend was saint and chimney is annoying) and so went with a void hunter.
Buuut I suck at combat so I switched to singleplayer to practice, going for dragonslayer.
I gave up after I what I call the Blue Lizard Curse kept occurring, but out of boredom I tried again, this time as artificer so my only issue was the threats and not falling into a bottomless pit. And well…
I taught myself how to kill vultures-
After some thought I decided to turn the void hunter and artificer into my own little slugs and this is what came out of them
Tumblr media
Stars’ Little Void, aka Void, was Daiki’s first slugcat experiment. Stars, or Eight Stars Upon Obsidian Skies, was Daiki’s creator and they decided to honour them in the name of the little guy! Oh, and don’t worry, they’re doing well, their little… mishap, has been safely removed
Tumblr media
PopCorn
I didn’t sleep last night and thus sleepy brain says “hey, if you shorten Population Control, you get Pop Con! It’s funny coz it sounds like popcorn!”
So I thought my violent little vulture hunter gets a job.
Daiki has this big thing about keeping their creatures out of harms way, and thus things get a bit… out of hand. And that’s where PopCorn comes into play. They restrict themselves to those causing trouble for the slugcats as a way of thinning the herd, but also actively hunt and kill vultures for fun to make their job easier through use of masks. It does in fact mean they have an excess of them, so they just give them to scavengers, who in turn follow them around and aid them in their task (mostly as sacrifices), keeping their king vulture mask to themselves however, it’s just out of sentiment at this point
PopCorn and Void are siblings, built for combat and survival respectively. Each member of the colony has their purpose and these two serve theirs well.
With that said, I do have some screenshots from my vulture hunting, not active gameplay but just little bits :)
Tumblr media
“Well, that happened, can’t believe I actually killed it!”
Tumblr media
“Well, another for safe keeping won’t hurt”
Tumblr media
“…. I just killed three vultures back to back- How am I alive-“

So I got Sims 4 on Friday. Thanks to @chris-the-dragonslayer I already got a bunch of custom content and mods and trustworthy source to get more, and after spending the weekend finding the CC for eyes, skin etc to create my OCs I finally could start for real yesterday, aka Sunday evening. I had a test Sim because I needed to get used how to control some of the things on PC after playing it on Playstation before thanks to my brother. So my Lyran/Ari brainrot continued. With the WickedWhims mod I shouldn't have created the Sims as close as possible to their OC counterparts, but here we are. First, pics of my lovely Sims.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
It wouldn't allow me to give Lyran the slender face he actually has, but this is close enough. @stormbrightwriter you may swoon now lol So, what did their Sim counterparts do? Well, I just put them in one household and went like: Wait and see. The first moment: Sims were smitten. Me: Okay.... this will be funny. Next step: SimLyran is the live of the party, entertaining the neighbors while SImArritit hides to read a book. (I feel ya, girl) So far, so good right? Funnily close to their OC versions but that was the plan. SimLyran causing all the fires in the kitchen when he tries to cook? Too funny, because StoryLyran isn't the best cook either (but it is edible) SimAri gets flirted at a lot but ignores it (which is too funny) But then came the moment these Sims killed me. 5 Minutes.... it took 5 minutes IRL time for them to fuck AND get pregnant. Like right away. (Which is funny, because in some later part of the whole series Sojan teases Lyran to be hyperfertile since most kids are biological his)
And just because I can: Family picture!
Tumblr media
So yes, I have a lot of fun with this, I love how hilarious close the Sims Versions behave to their written versions. Who knows what kind of inspiration I can take out of it.
