Can I ask your top 10 fav fics ever (from any fandom, if you don't mind)?
Also, just curious, is there a story behind your name "akaashism"?
This is always such a hard question to answer, because I have categories of favourite fics that are mutually exclusive and equally important 😭 I can't possibly choose between them. There are also some mindblowing fics I love for a controversial ship that I do not wish to disclose on this account 😅
Therefore, this list consists of fics I have read post-2020 which have had a big impact on me in some way and will always be a part of me! It's by no means exhaustive and is arranged randomly.

“Your voice sounds a little hoarse.”
“Really?” You shrug. “I had a lot of meetings today and probably didn’t drink enough water.”
A frown tugs at Akaashi’s lips as he puts the kettle on. He cuts up a lemon and squeezes it into a mug before dropping the wedge to the bottom and spooning some honey in. He tops it all off with boiling water and holds it out. “Here. I think you’re getting sick.”
You roll your eyes. “It’s nothing, Keiji. You worry too much.”
“Please? For me?”
“Fine, fine, I’ll drink it,” you grumble, giving him a kiss on the cheek as thanks.
The next morning, you wake up with a fever. Your throat is parched and painful, shirt sticking to your back and neck. You angrily roll over onto the other side of the bed, cool now that Keiji has gotten up. It doesn’t really help.
The bedroom door opens and he walks in carrying a tray. You petulantly roll away back to the far side of the bed. “I don’t want to hear it!”
“Hear what?”
“I told you so…”
“Well that’s good because I wasn’t going to say I told you so.” His lips twitch ever so slightly.
“You just said it!” You pout as he sits down on the edge of the bed.
“Did I? Oops,” he chuckles. The cups and bowls clink as the tray is set down in front of you. You grace him with a smile before tucking in. He always remembers exactly what you crave when you’re sick - something warm and filling and a little bland to keep the nausea at bay. A contented sigh leaves your lips as you wash it all down with a mug of tea. Akaashi gently rubs your leg as you rest your back against the headboard.
“Oh no!” You shoot up, almost spilling the rest of your tea. “What about work? You’re late!” Guilt washes over you. You’d been too busy stuffing your face to realize what day it was.
“Relax.” Akaashi says with a squeeze of your thigh. “I told them I’m working from home today so I can take care of you.”
Maybe it’s a good thing you have a fever you think, shrinking down into the duvet. Otherwise, you would have to explain the pleased blush that warms your cheeks when Akaashi tucks you in.
“Get some rest and text me if you need me. I’ll be in the other room.” He places your tea and phone on the nightstand next to you, taking the tray with him back to the kitchen.
Akaashi sits down at his desk after washing the dishes. 8:46 am. Luckily, no urgent meetings are on the schedule for today, so he's able to work from home with no pushback from his bosses. Although, feeling how feverish you were this morning, he would have stayed at home no matter what they said. He settles himself before opening his laptop and diving back into his project.
As he pens some feedback on the latest chapter (pacing feels rushed here - maybe incorporate more reflection to draw out tension), he becomes dimly aware of noises coming from the bedroom. Another round of coughs finally breaks his concentration. 10:23 am. How long had you been coughing? He immediately springs up from his chair.
You give him a weary smile as he walks in with cough medicine and another mug of tea. “Sorry, I didn’t mean to disturb you. Can’t sleep.”
“Shh.” He strides over to the bed. “Don’t talk, you’ll make it worse.”
You wiggle under the covers again after downing the tea and medicine. He’s got work to do, but you want to ask him, but you know it’s selfish. The battle raging in your head must have been playing out on your face because Akaashi abruptly asks, “Baby, do you want me to stay with you?”
“No,” you peep. It’s futile to lie to him but you try anyways. You always try, even though Keiji has always been able to read you like a book.
“Uh huh. Let me go grab my laptop.” He’s back in a flash, laying down next to you and perching the laptop on his abdomen. You rest your head on his shoulder and close your eyes. The only indications that Keiji is awake and working are the occasional strokes of your hair and tip-taps of the keyboard.
You pull him in close, but sleep eludes you. It’s been 15 minutes, if the clock in the corner of his laptop is right. “Still can’t sleep,” you murmur dejectedly.
Keiji purses his lips. “Want me to read to you?”
Your whole face lights up. “Maybe you can read me the manga you’re editing. That way it’s like working at the same time?”
“Good idea.” He gives you a peck as he adjusts the laptop screen. A sense of tranquility embraces you as soon as he utters the first syllable. What he’s reading is immaterial. The warm timbre of his voice, the gentle rumble of his chest against your cheek, and the steadfast rise and fall of his breaths are more soothing than any medicine. You’re out like a light in no time. He continues for a while after he feels your breathing settle into a slow and steady rhythm.
Some time later, you wake up, your hand accidentally slapping him in the face as you reach up to rub your eyes. “Babe? How long have I been sleeping?”
He hums and kisses you on the forehead. “Three hours.”
You suddenly realize you’re still laying on him. “Oh my god, your arm must be completely asleep by now!”
You quickly roll away so he can free it. A grimace pulls at his lips as pins and needles shoot up and down his left side. He clenches and unclenches his fist to help the feeling return to his hand more quickly.
“Sorry Keiji,” you mumble guiltily. “You don’t have to watch over me the entire time, you know.”
He shakes his head and locks eyes with you. “Yes I do,” he says firmly, devotion written all over his face.

fun fact his name (akaash) means sky in my language 🫢🫣
THANK U. u get it. also sky that's so cutieful omg? gahhh.. keiji thoughts...
he isn't a very confident person, at least not in high school, and i think watching him become more confident would be endearing and?? attractive?? it's a quiet confidence. he's as kind as always, but he learns to take compliments better, shares his opinions a little easier, gets used to small talk with strangers. with you it means less hesitation before asking if he can kiss you, a satisfied smile when he catches you off-guard with a compliment, rolling his eyes and joking when you teasingly ask if he's jealous.
& you'd be a huge factor in this!! whether it's him catching you staring as he rolls up his sleeves, or calling him hot when he combs his fingers through his hair and stretches. he isn't used to being called hot especially. like, pretty or handsome or good-looking, sure, but hot? keiji's never really seen himself that way. he gets flustered, but subconsciously relaxes and stands a little taller when you shoot heart eyes his way :-(
advice/comfort/compliments from akaashi would be very well-thought out and sincere. look at him with bokuto. like he thinks a Lot, about you ten-fold. it's easy to say exactly what you need to hear—he prides himself on knowing you as completely as you know him!! on loving you like you love him!! your imposter syndrome and anxiety will hit and keiji will be there, reminding you of the last time you felt this way and how it turned out alright. he'll tell you no matter what happens, he knows, and you know your passion and worth, and he'll be with you the whole time.
on a lighter note if you said you felt awful and miserable and angry and it was past 9pm he'd quote that thing about never trusting how you feel about life past 9pm, and also ask if you've 1) eaten 2) showered 3) slept. LOL.
!!! miscellaneous akaashi thoughts.... I alwayshave them. alwayndsk...
cat person of course. likes stray cats. he often forgets to bring treats but he feeds them when he remembers.. & meows at them (he looks around nervously because it'd be a little embarrassing if someone heard LOL). when a cat rubs against his leg or purrs he's energized for the rest of the day!
he likes laying his head in your lap while you work. you don't have to talk or anything, he might just take a nap. gets kind of nervous that he's bothering you the first few times though. he's also happy when you lie down on/near him!
i was thinking of photographer!keiji.... him struggling to find inspiration or to take photos he's really proud of.... him seeing u and going ..! and he hates going up to people. it's nerve-wracking and he usually works with nature or close friends.... but you've noticed this pretty guy pacing nearby a couple of times and he's pretty sure if he doesn't approach you he'll regret it forever. GAH!
in a world where i don't ship bokuaka akaashi doesn't date until he's in his 20s at least.. like my self ship world that isn't with bokuaka. god bless my heart. uni au! uni au! uni au!!!
has flipped a coin to see if he should skip class or not. a uni class not high school just for clarification. except he didn't actually have a coin so he had to google Coin flip. was devastated when it told him to go
mm i think timeskip keiji might be a little insecure about his appearance/fitness actually.. being on the volleyball team was an easy way to exercise in hs but he finds himself too busy or tired to go to the gym a lot of the time now :') i think it'd be nice to work out at home or go on walks together... also reassuring him and showering him with compliments and seeing his face turn red ☹️ my keiji.....

Imo ushiten is very underrated. Miracle boy and the guess monster. The one people look up to and the one people fear. Neither of them are understood by anyone else. They are essentially the only ones who will ever truly know each other, or be known by each other. They're very precious to me, I hope they're hugging rn

Haikyuu! Land vs Sky OVA Trailer 2 Review
In no particular order because I’m an unorganized person (kind of, I promise I’m not always like this)
The Nohebi cheer circle! I actually really like this, it’s kind of cool.
Lol look at Lev and Kuroo XD
The animal personification that Furudate uses is back. I really like how the snake just surrounds them, kind of showing that “oh hey, they’re real sinister”.
THIS SCENE! Lev and Shibayama’s big moments, and when teamwork finally clicked for Lev. I honestly LOVE this scene.
LIKE LOOK AT THEM!
I’ve been really excited for Alisa and Akane to be animated again. Just... yes.
Akaashi literally looks so dead inside. He’s just hanging out in the corner of the scene where Bokuto throws his jacket.
Just look at him. Look at the Fukurodani student section. I can already feel the hype.
The scenes/panels I like the most in Haikyuu are actually the ones where the ball reflects in the characters’ eyes and when their eyes are lighter than the rest of the scene/panel or glow. It always gives me that vibe that... this is serious.

. . . how they find you asleep during practice
featuring ; gym four ( kuroo, bokuto, akaashi, tsukishima )
KUROO ; eventually, it became a routine of you falling asleep in the bleachers during his practice. you were very exhausted from always studying, and the piles of homework you had. the first time it happened he made jokes about how you hurt his feelings. then it kept happening, and he got concerned that you weren’t taking proper care of yourself. he would ask one of the guys for a spare jacket, that way he could ball one up underneath your head and cover you with his. after practice, he’d make his way over to you still sleeping, sling your book bag over his shoulder and slowly pick you up like a child. you would stir momentarily, only to wrap your legs around him and tuck your head into his neck while he carried you home.
BOKUTO ; looked up from practice one day to find you nowhere in sight. he swore he had just seen you ten minutes ago, and it brought his mood down believing that you left without him realizing. after the days practice was finally over, konoha yelled for him after realizing you were curled up in the bleachers wrapped up in his hoodie. bokuto had no clue that you were so exhausted, and feels bad that he practically begged you to come to his practice today. much similar to kuroo, he scoops you up in his arms and you unconsciously wrap yourself around him. he holds you close to him for awhile,waiting on the rest of the team to clear out of the locker rooms. he’d take you back there. he’ll wake you up so you could sit and wait, while he changes and gathers his things. bending down in front of you, he lets you climb onto his back and koala him so he can take you home.
AKAASHI ; found you outside of the gym, leaning against the wall with your eyes closed. assuming you were asleep, he sat down beside you and took your notes and study materials out of your lap to begin packing them neatly into your bag. you not being completely asleep, stirred a bit to see him changed out of his vbc clothes and back into his school uniform. ‘keiji… practice is over already?’ you'd mumble, clearly having lost track of time as you sat outside studying; waiting for him to be done. akaashi would tuck your hair behind your ear, and smile at your tired voice while giving you a small nod. ‘let’s get you home, sleepy.’ he’s always so gentle with you, knowing you’re trying your hardest to support his team and yourself.
TSUKISHIMA ; is as exhausted of finding you asleep in odd places, as you are. he has continuously told you to not come to his practices, not only because he thinks it’s embarrassing to have you hanging around while the guys fumble over having another girl around— but because he knows you need to relax and breathe. at home in a safe space, not on the bench outside of the gym at night. of course that’s where he finds you again, though. he’d tower over your sleeping body, a look of disappointment on his face while yamaguchi walks past him giggling over your failure to ever listen. tsukki shakes his head, and gently wakes you up while sitting beside you. he’d pull you into his lap, only after he was sure everyone else already left, and lecture you. in his head though, he’s grateful for how much you care.

every year, keiji finds himself infatuated with the lights you put up to decorate your little apartment. the reds, oranges, and yellows make the space come alive, as if you've brought the sun down from the skies. and every year, he helps you light the painted oil lamps, watching as the faint glow of the fire illuminates your features. excitement fills his eyes when you bring out the plate of sweets — who would have thought that he'd fall in love with the sweet and syrupy desserts your parents love to bring you every year? and who would have thought that keiji, of all people, would love dressing up in ornate clothing to match yours?
the pictures you take every diwali end up on your fridge (and on his desk at work). and he hopes that next year, the diya isn't the only thing sparkling in your hands.

Just a quick one, this idea has been on my mind for days and I thought it would work for Akaashi :)
Y/n was sat on the floor with her back against the wall of the Fukurodani boys volleyball team's practice gym on Friday evening after school. Her headphones securely over her ears as she would smile to the different songs that would play, the book in her hands, The Silent Companions, keeping her entertained while she waited for her boyfriend to finish up practice. Well, she was making out she was reading but damn how could she when he black haired boyfriend was looking like a snack in his volleyball shorts showing off those toned legs and a dark blue t-shirt that match his gunmetal blue eyes. As the song changed a smirk spread over Y/n lips as she instantly recognised it. She pulled her headphone around her neck,
"Baby?" Y/n called out to her boyfriend, everyone in the room turned to look where Y/n was sat.
"Yea?" Akaashi asked as he started to walk towards her, the smirk largened on her face as he got closer, as she turned the music up to fall so she could hear it without the need to wear them, she stood up, but she still leant against the wall.
"You so fuckin' precious when you smile," She sang along with the song, Akaashi let a slight smile grace his lips.
"Hit it from the back and drive you wild." He placed a hand on either side of her head, his body towering over her petit form, as he continued the song, smirking at her now wide eyed blushing face and how she seemed to want to sink into the wall, as Akaashi kept his cool as if he had just hinted to the whole team about of their sex lives, his eyes burning with love and adoration as they stayed locked with hers. "Girl, I lose myself up in those eyes."
"I just had to let you know you're mine," He cupped her jaw, pulling her into a deep mind-boggling kiss, he could hear the song through her headphones. He pulled away, continuing the song.
"I'm so fucking happy you're alive." He was loving the fact that her blush was getting deeper across her cheeks, he didn't care if the team was watching.
He leaned down to whisper in a husky tone his favourite line in her ear, "I'll turn you into a bride, you're mine." When he pulled away, the blush was so deep across her face, that it had spread up to her ears and down her neck. Kissing her again before walking back over to the team who all looked gobsmacked. Y/n on the overhand was gripping her chest over her heart as she slid back down the wall, she was amazed she managed to stay stood that long, it was as if all the oxygen was ripped from her lunges, her mind was blank the only words that were running around her head was 'I'll turn you into a bride', she was not expecting Akaashi to do that.
Akaashi looked over his shoulder, too see the state his girlfriend was in, her face was still bright red, her eyes held an unreadable look, but he could see the love swimming in them.
"AKAASHI!" Bokuto came bouncing over to him along with a few of the others. "Since when do you know that song?"
"Since Y/n plays it all the time, didn't take long to pick the words."
"I think you killed Y/n," Washio said with a scared look on his face as he looked at the poor girl who was slowly starting to return to her natural colour.
"Y/n!" Bokuto called, her head snapped to them when her eyes locked with her boyfriends, the blush covered her cheeks and nose once again as she shyly looked away from him playing with her fingers that just made Akaashi proud that he could have that effect on his girlfriends.
The train ride with the others was full of laughter and jokes, but since they got off the train it's been peaceful as Y/n, and Akaashi wondered along quetly with fingers entwined.
"Did you mean it?" Y/n broke the silence, looking up at him, her eyes doe-like as she asked her question. He knew what she was referring to. He untangled their fingers and wrapped his arm around his shoulder, pulling her close. Y/n wrapped her arm around his waist and linked her free hand with the one around her shoulder.
"One day, yea, I will, lil dove."

Pack of chopsticks 🥢
“oh,” you pull the chopsticks out from the white paper sleeve and snap them apart, “what?”
“i wasn’t aware we would be playing such a game.” you jump when you hear akaashi speaking behind you. spinning around you point the chopsticks at him, laughing when you realize what you’ve done.
“sorry sorry, i didn’t mean to.” you try to brush it off lightly but you feel bad for pointing the chopsticks at him like he was some stranger.
“it’s fine, i guess this means we’re to go in the closet together?” you nod your head as akaashi spins on his heel and you follow closely, unsure of what awaits you in kuroo’s hallway closet. he slips in first and you follow closely.
“we have approximately 5 minutes before bokuto-san and konoha-san find out we’re in here so i suppose i should cut to the chase,” he cradles your face in his hands and smiles fondly at you, “may i kiss you?”
“yes please.”

- Bokuto fell for Akaashi when he first met Akaashi at the gym in his 2nd year of high school.
- Akaashi first admired Bokuto's ability to be so energetic and make people happy just by his smile but found himself slowly falling for Bokuto over the months.
- Bokuto REALLY like Akaashi to the point he wanted to fail his finals on purpose to stay with Akaashi (well, he barely passed it but :D)
- After Bokuto graduated, he would still go to his high school to meet his 'best friend'. He still wanted to have Akaashi set for him so the new team often have a session with Bokuto every month or so (maybe more because this man is needy)
- When Akaashi went to college, they slowly drifted apart. Akaashi being the insecure one purposely avoid Bokuto because he thinks that he will be a barrier to Bokuto's way to greatness. (Somebody hug this boy :( He's so hard on himself)
- Bokuto tried his best to contact Akaash, which is hella hard since this guy is just too good at hiding, but with the help of his old teammates (they ship them so hard) he finally was able to meet Akaashi again.
- Akaashi thought that he is going to get over Bokuto once away for him but the distance only makes him crave for Bokuto's smile even more :(
- They reunited and Bokuto helped Akaashi with his insecurity (Imma gonna skip the details because this is supposedly a headcanon, not a whole fic)
- They started dating and listen to me. This couple is SO SWEET I might get cavities.
- They found a way to hide from Bokuto's fans in public by making Bokuto not use any hair gel and put his hair down on dates.
- Akaashi went to Bokuto's nearly every match using the excuse of an interview. When Akaashi is there Bokuto plays like 120%. Fans and teammates (except for Sakusa, Hinata and Atsumu because they already know the relationship) notice the difference because this boy doesn't know how to hide. They found him looking at the crowds more often, agitated to win, showing off more,...
- Akaashi got attention from the Internet because of Kenma tweeting about him. (I mean look at that fine man) The whole Internet is talking about this mysterious handsome man. Everyone is trying to find out about him when Kenma said he was taken and the rumor started about him and the Kodzuken.
- Bokuto was so jealous and was in his emo mode (which rarely comes nowadays) the whole week making the whole media confused. Then the match at the end of the week, Akaashi finally came to this match and the whole media was even more confused when Bokuto suddenly perks up at the second set.
- A few matches after that people spotted the handsome guy-Akaashi at Bokuto's match a lot. Fans began speculating and stuff. Akaashi got himself a whole fandom (not so big but still)
- Time skip to the Olympics: Akaashi went to the Olympics and Japan won the finals. After the match, Akaashi was celebrating with the crowds when Bokuto ran to him and yes, kiss him (Ik it's cringe). At that moment the whole stadium froze. Then from the teams is the teasing and cheering of their friends. Oikawa began making kissing noises. (Argentina is the other team)
- They have to run out of the stadium after the match and hide because who would have thought that the 'handsome guy' and Bokuto is dating. After that game, Bokuto proposes and had a yes for the answer.
- Bokuto tweeted the photo of their hands intertwined with the ring and the caption: "Thank you for being with me the whole way my dear setter. I love you, Akaashi Keiji."
- Kenma, Kuroo, and their other friends also tweeted their congrats and tease. Kuroo commented: Bro, did Akaashi take that picture? I'm pretty sure that if not your phone already cracked. (Ik I'm as dry as f*ck so don't come after me pls)
After that day, Japan's media kinda died.

It seems like everything was going downhill when the training camp ended.
Bokuto is tired. Mentally and physically.
The usual training he does seems too exhausting, arguing with Akaashi has been tough and his brain can't even decipher what his math teacher is saying right now.
All he could think of is you.
Bokuto rubbed his eyes, hoping he doesn't get called to solve infront. He hardly got any sleep last night since he spent the whole evening arguing with akaash which led to him sleeping at his parent's house.
And to top it all off, what Konoha said to him last week didn't sat right with him.
"After you and L/n talked, I saw Kuroo leading her into one of the spare rooms, seems pretty interesting to me."
He gritted his teeth, he should stop thinking about you, but he stops and some form of realization sort of settled in him.
Is this how the universe is punishing him right now?
Bokuto forced the thought in the corner of his mind, he just needs to clear out his head for a bit.
What am I feeling...?
"Akaashi! Set for me!"
Akaashi felt like he was in a trance, it took a few tries for his team mates to snap him out of it. Every few seconds he would glance back to the entrance to see if his boyfriend will come practice.
"Maybe he's just late."
He tried to reassure himself, since it was normal for his lover to be late by a few minutes. Konoha raised his brows and gave Akaashi a questioning look.
"Didn't Bo tell you?"
Akaashi felt his heart rate speed up as he asked anxiously, "What?" He bit his lip, already not liking the feeling of unease settling on his stomach.
"Bo said he'll stay for a couple of days in Miyagi."
Talking to Kuroo... feels actually nice.
Even if you get fed up with his nerdy antics, you won't deny that he already got a special place in your heart.
"Hey, are you even listening to me?" You heard him complain on the speaker of your phone as you twirled a lock of your hair absent mindedly.
"What do you expect me to do? I just finished a ridiculously hard exam, my brain needs to take a breather." You snorted as you can hear the Nekoma captain sigh.
"You know that I could've helped you right?"
Hinata and Kageyama looked at you with curious looks as you tried to shoo them away. "Go do loved dovey things to each other."
"You're always on your phone! We wanna hang out with you!" Hinata pouted as he tugged your sleeve.
"I guess that's my cue to leave." Kuroo said, resulting a light chuckle to leave your lips. "I guess so too.. Talk to you later?"
Kuroo hummed, a smile plastered on his face as he talked to you on the other end of the line. "Of course."
"Bye." You said as you hanged up, although it was probably best that you shouldn't have since now you can't escape the teasing and questions that are about to come.
"You like her."
Kenma stated, Kuroo tried to fight off the smile that threatens to make it's way on his face. "How come?"
"I can tell. Now dom't bother me, I ahve to beat this boss." Kenma mumbled as the whirrs of his electronic device gets louder. Kuroo could only sigh and looked at him fondly.
"Goodluck."
Kenma snorted, eyes not leaving the console in his hand "I should say the same to you. If this is going to be like your-"
"It wont be." Kuroo cutted his friend off, a firm tone clearly evident in his voice. Kenma only gave a hum as he managed to finally defeat the boss which made him look to his bestfriend.
"You know that's Bokuto's soulmate right?"
Kuroo let out a scoff, a scornful expression making it's way on his face, "Was, Kenma. Bokuto treated her like shit." Kenma only raised a brow in response and decided to leave the conversation at that. Getting Kuroo worked up was not in one of his to-do-lists anyway.
"Shoyo, slap me right now."
Hinata gave you an incredelous look, "Why would I do that?!" He spluttered while Kageyama agreed alongside him.
"Because I see someone who looks eerily simliar to Bokuto Koutaro running to us."

favorite thing about them: the reason i got super attached to akaashi is because he reminds me so much of myself. i've never seen another character i relate with more, he's just so real. akaashism means i am literally akaashi in a different font.
least favorite thing about them: the fact that he isn't real
favorite line: just any time he says "bokuto-san" in that exasperated tone

unpopular opinion: as much as i love akaashi and bokuto's dynamic, sometimes i think it might not be sustainable in the long run. akaashi might snap and give up one day or just need a little more mature partner (which is partly the reason i was even attracted to osaaka in the first place). simply a personal opinion.
