Long ago, in ancient Japan, there was a small village with one specific tradition.
Every 25 years, a young man at the age of 25 years old must be sacrificed to the god who protects the village in order to keep its peace & prosperity.
This year, there are 3 young men who fit the criteria: Fukuda, Kawahara & Furihata.
So the village chief orders each of them to pick out a thin wooden stick. And of course, poor Furihata draws the short end of the stick.
So he cries. His friends & family try to comfort him, but eventually, they cry too. None of them are ready to be separated from Furihata forever.
And he's definitely not ready to leave them. Not today, not tomorrow, not ever.
There are so many things he still wants to do with them.
But he knows those are just wishful thinking now.
The village chief takes Furihata's hand & gently guides him to be prepared.
On the night of the sacrifice, Furihata is presented in the most expensive get-up he's ever worn.
The shirt is white, unbuttoned & sheer made of gossamer silk. The pants are from charmeuse satin, fully opaque & also white. Completing his look are a small gold chain necklace & 2 pairs of gold cuffs for bracelets.
The chief's men bring Furihata to the altar, where they chain him from the wrists & ankles.
Then the chief chants a prayer, his men & the villagers soon following him.
Strong winds begin to blow throughout the whole village, followed by loud thunders.
By the time the last & loudest thunder strikes, Furihata is nowhere to be found.
Not on the altar, nor among the villagers.
He's completely gone.
The first thing Furihata notices when he's awake is softness.
He looks around his surroundings. It's entirely different from what his previous situation were.
Now he finds himself in the grandest & most luxurious bedroom he's ever seen. Royal red sheets on a four-poster bed with matching colored pillows & curtains, complete with gold tassels for decoration. The bed itself is positioned on the top of a dais, adding to its majestic feel. There are two ornate nightstands between the bed. A gold chandelier hangs from the ceiling, reinforcing whoever owns this room must be someone of great importance.
But one thing Furihata notices is that he still wears his get-up from the sacrifice ritual at his village.
Suddenly, a loud bang thunders across the room, startling Furihata.
There, he notices a figure who's about the same height as him. And he's the most handsome man Furihata has ever seen. With bright, spiky crimson hair & mismatched eyes, gold for his left pupil & red for his right, his appearance is rather striking.
But there's a dangerous glint in the man's eyes, which promises disastrous consequences for those who disobey him.
The man looks at Furihata, finally realizing his presence. Furihata is frozen at place by the man's sharp gaze, rooting him in his spot. He can't move his body, no matter how much he wants to. It's like he's petrified.
The man slowly smirks at Furihata, a hungry look in his mismatched eyes. He licks his lips, eager to start "playing" with his new toy.
"Well, it appears their offering is quite the treat. Let's begin our game, shall we?"
And that's the story of how Furihata's first night of passion - which eventually becomes regular passionate nights - with the god Akashi begins...
goooooooooooooddddddd okay okay okay first things first this highkey reminds me of a kagehina sacrifice/god fanfic by Esselle - Somewhere to Belong! love that fic- if you like kagehina and haven't read it yet, go read it
i'd be so down for an akafuri fic with this! however, i don't think i'm able to contribute(?) anything? the similarity between this and the fic i mentioned is too strong so i'm just circling back to the fic and getting nowhere
what made the fic so good is that it's tailored for kagehina. kageyama's wish, his insecurity, hinata is the sun god and he is the embodiment of the sun.
i wanna see this prompt tailored for akafuri. what is akashi the god of? why does he need these sacrifices? what happens to them? why were the 3 you mentioned the only ones who fit the requirements- what are the sacrificial requirements? is it an honor to be chosen? horrific? do they stay with akashi forever? do they die after some amount of time? are there other sacrifices there competing for akashi's favor- or is it just furihata? how does furihata being chosen affect akashi? does it affect him at all? what is furihata's feelings towards akashi? what does he want? to go back home? to stay with akashi?
i'll just say, my instinct is to weave some thematic elements from beauty and the beast as well as the mythos of hades & persephone. and since you're describing bokushi (we can rock with only bokushi) i think akashi could be the god of war and part of this story is furihata being elevated and granted the title of god of peace.
working off of my last sentence, i feel two directions: 1) the sacrifices are ways for the village to ward off war or/and 2) the sacrifices are ways to boost their militia (think a spartan village)
if you think more about this prompt, i would love to hear it! i love god aus so.freaking.much
thank you for the ask, hope you have a great day!

Akafuri Vampire AU
EXCEPT! Furihata is the Vampire and Akashi is the human.
Furihata is about a century old. He is very tired, very done and does not have the energy to deal with young vampire shenanigans. He’s part of a coven called Seirin(hshshs very creative ik) and he’s in that age range where he isn’t old enough to deal with the big problems, but isn’t young enough to avoid dealing with vampire politics entirely.
Akashi is the heir to the Akashi conglomerate and the canon shit with his dad happens. He’s still buddies with GoM and plays b-ball. AND he’s a vampire hunter on the side. He comes from a family of hunters.
One night, when a newly turned vampire goes blood-hungry crazy and starts rampaging through town, Furihata is left with the duty to get the vampire under control before he actually kills someone. Akashi’s close by and is alerted of the presence of two vampires and goes hunting.
Furihata has shit mostly under control since he dealt with this, like four times already and went through it himself when he turned so he knows what the newly-turned would do. But Akashi jumps in outta nowhere and now Furihata has to deal with Akashi too, who is like 2 seconds away from destroying them both. Shit goes down, the newly-turned vampire bites Akashi. Furihata saves Akashi and knocks out the newly-turned. The newly-turned is fine since they drank Akashi’s blood and Furihata asks them to get back to the coven base and report on what happened to Riko, who is coven leader.
Now Furihata has a famous, extremely powerful, vampire hunter DYING in his arms and he knows that if Akashi dies, Seirin is fucked, Papa Masaomi will destroy them. So in a last ditch effort, he turns Akashi. Hey, at least he is not fully dead. Just...undead.
Akashi wakes up and he doesn’t know wtf to think because he never really cared for vampire hunting, he did it for his family legacy and for his father. Now that he’s a vampire, he can’t use any of his weapons since it’s all coated with silver and has holy water infused inside.
Now Furihata has to teach Akashi to be a proper vampire that doesn’t alert humans that he is, in fact, a mythical creature.
Cue Akashi jumping up flights of stairs and Furihata having to run after him and explain to him that even if it IS convenient to just shoot up the staircases by holding onto the railings, humans don’t find that shit NORMAL.
This entire fic is just Furihata babysitting a very clueless Akashi who’s having an existential crisis because his entire purpose is gone and his idea of humanity, his plans for life and his goals are now in the trash can. Also his dad probably got the excuse he needed to kill his son. Fun stuff.

[AkaFuri] And Now, in Reverse
Title: And Now, in Reverse Pairing: Akashi/Furihata Summary: On every other day of the year, Furihata is Akashi’s trusted personal assistant. But Akashi knows that November 8th is not just any day, and so he has an idea to switch things up.
“Today, for your birthday, I’ve decided I shall be the one of service to you.” Furihata stared at the red head, unblinking. He knew he’d heard him correctly, but he was having a hard time making sense of what Akashi was implying. Hell, he didn’t even think Akashi knew what he was saying. “I’m sorry, what?” “I will be your assistant today.”
Notes:  Happy Birthday Furi! This is my birthday tribute to our dearest Kouki, and the second companion piece to my AkaFuri office AU, Whether Asleep or Awake. It takes place about a year after the events of the original fic, which I would recommend reading before hopping into this one-shot (although it’s not totally necessary!) Explicit rating for birthday sex, ayy. Read: HERE @ AO3.
It was only a couple minutes past midnight when Akashi wordlessly handed over a thick stack of papers to Furihata, who’d been sitting in the living room of Akashi’s condo. Furihata lowered the volume on the TV, the late-night program fading into background noise, as the documents came neatly into his hands. He raised a brow as Akashi took the seat next to him on the couch. The slightest hint of mischief lit up his handsome face.
“What is this?” Furihata asked. It was unusual of Akashi to saddle Furihata with any form of work when they were off hours. Ever since their relationship began, Akashi lived by the rule that as long as they were off the clock, Furihata wouldn’t be troubled with any assistant-like responsibilities.
“Your birthday present,” Akashi said simply, as if that answered his question. “Well, a portion of it.”
Furihata skimmed the first few pages – legal jargon that was mostly familiar, though the lengthy paragraphs still went over his head. He caught his own name here and there, and another that flagged his attention: Le Pavillon. It was the name of a French-Japanese restaurant in Ginza that was one of the couple’s favourites; one that Akashi had first taken him to a year ago, before they were dating.
Realization hit Furihata’s stomach like an unexpected rollercoaster drop.
“Uh, Sei… I might be jumping the gun here, but does this say… that I now own Le Pavillon?”
Akashi tilted his head and smiled, “I see your understanding of legal wording has improved greatly. You didn’t ask me to explain this time.” He said it in a way that told Furihata he was proud of him. It would’ve been a nice moment if the assistant wasn’t so floored by the revelation of what his “birthday present” entailed.
“Wait, wait, hold on a second,” he was still fumbling to catch his thoughts. “You bought a restaurant for me?!” Furihata gaped, punctuating every word.

These Wonderful Things Chapter 6: The Road Before Us (MidoTaka)
You can read this fic on Ao3!
Rating: T (language, sexual tension, so much sexual tension)
Pairings: MidoTaka (Other chapters include KagaKuro, AkaFuri, heavily implied KiKasa and AoMomo, and platonic friendship MuraHimu)
Word Count: 15k
Warnings: Holiday fluff, a rainbow of basketball dorks, some of them are on dates god help them, the rest are being really cute anyway god help me.
Summary: “So what are your all plans for the big night, huh?” Kise eyed the three of them, and waggled his well-shaped brows. “With your lovers, I mean.”
It’s Christmas Eve, the most popular date night of the year in Japan. Kuroko is going to Disneyland with Kagami. Akashi has a special plan in mind for his date with Furihata, but he won’t tell anyone what it is. Kise has no plans at all, but ends up at a certain former captain’s apartment anyway. Aomine and Momoi spend a friendly night in, as usual, and Murasakibara is bribed with cake.
Meanwhile Midorima is telling anyone who will listen (and also those who won’t) that he does not have romantic plans of any kind, whatsoever, even though Takao did ask to see him but it does not mean that, no, absolutely not.
A/N: IT’S THE MIDOTAKA CHAPTER. <3 I’m so happy I can finally share the last part of this story! This chapter is the longest of the six, and it’s filled with a ton of my favorite things about MidoTaka (and KnB in general, in a lot of ways). I’ve had some of these ideas in my head for a long time, so I’m glad I was finally able to write them down. And it feels like a fitting story to start the new year, too.
Fair warning, this chapter is also the steamiest… I couldn’t keep these two away from each other, apparently? //laughs It still fits squarely in the T/PG-13 rating, though. Enjoy, and happy New Year, everyone! <3
Midorima Shintarou wasn’t nervous. Because he wasn’t going on a date.
He wasn’t excited, either, or any other related frame of mind… True, he kept checking the clock on his desk, often enough that it seemed like the minutes were ticking by in slow motion. And true, he had reloaded the weather report on his phone too many times to count. Which was why he kept changing clothes. First a long coat, which he later switched to a sweater, and then he tried to add a jacket but the result was too bulky so he had to start the entire process all over again.
It was purely because of the weather, though. Not for any other possible reason. Absolutely not.
Keep reading on Ao3!

Hey, there! Hope you’re doing well! For the OTP Questions- AkaFuri!! Also, I’m really not sure if I’m supposed to pick a few of them or what?? Lol!
I literally just saw this today and I have no idea when you asked this and I’m so sorry if it’s been a while! (I also have no clue on how this was suppose to work but I had no problem answering all of them lol. Some answers got pretty long!)
Otp Questions - Fluffy
Who kisses the other on the nose and the one receiving the kiss blushes? Definitely Akashi.Who sits on their partner’s lap as they wrap their arms around their partners neck? Furihata is 100% a lap-sitter. 10/10 his favorite spot.Who kisses the inside of their partner’s palm before reassuring them everything is going to be okay? Akashi, because Furihata is a nervous nugget who needs constant reassurance. Who initiates the forehead touch™? Hmm… I can see both of them pretty equally, honestly. Where do they first say “I love you”? Akashi says it first, and it happens when they’re just hanging out casually, like curled up watching a movie or something and Furi is just laughing and being adorable and it just sorta slips out and Akashi kinda panics that maybe it’s too much too soon but Furi just blushes and stammers out an “I love you too” and yeah this got long lolWho wraps their arms around their partner who is cooking? I don’t see Akashi doing much cooking, but I could see Furi like making some snacks or something at 2am one night during a “sleepover” and Akashi comes up behind him and hugs him and it’s super cute.Who breaks out the first aid kit when the other gets a paper cut? They both overreact, but Furihata lol.Who cuddles up to the other on the couch? They’re both cuddly as fuck, but Furihata initiated it first. How do they hold each other when their partner asks to be held? When Furi asks to be held, Akashi will pull him onto his lap and wrap his arms around him and rub his back. When Akashi asks to be held, Furi will lay on the couch or the bed and pull Akashi completely on top of him. Akashi will bury his face in Furi’s chest/neck while Furi plays with his hair.Who picks up the other fireman style in a playful way? Akashi, although Furi has picked Akashi up once to surprise him and it was hilarious. Who brings the blanket to wrap them both up in it? Usually Furihata.Who falls asleep on who? What is their reaction when the other falls sleep on them? Furihata is usually the one to fall asleep on Akashi. On a rare occasion, Akashi will be the one to fall asleep and Furihata tries so hard to barely even breath because “omg this never happens when if he wakes up I can never move again”Who likes to be held and who likes to hold? Akashi likes to hold because he likes to be the one to give comfort and reassurance, and Furi likes being held because he feels safest in Akashi’s arms and it’s perfect. (Although these roles do switch on occasion)

Aliens. Think about it.
Akashi heard the door slam. The forced eviction of shoes from feet and landing in thuds against the wall that definitely wasn’t the place for shoes and the loud wheeze of the couch as Furihata flung himself bodily onto the couch face down on the cushions. Akashi didn’t say anything.
“Welcome.” Well, until now, anyway.
The couch groaned. Okay Furihata groaned but it was fun and dramatic to say ‘the couch groaned’. Akashi bit the inside of his cheek at his own joke. Nobody got how funny he was. Not even Furihata. Who would look at him with a small barely-there smile and that exasperated and yet …….sort of fond look on his face when he made a pun. Like he was saying ‘Why do I even put up with you when you are so ridiculous’ without actually saying it. Akashi always pretended to be annoyed by it but secretly he liked it when Furihata smiled that smile at him. Not that he would ever say that out loud.
Just thinking about that smile made Akashi’s chest squeeze a little too tightly. He wondered if he had picked up a disease on this planet. That would be bothersome. Perhaps he should summon Mibuchi.
“-you would think they would know by now. But, nope!-” Furihata was saying something, or more like, moaning something into the couch cushion and Akashi moved with his new ‘legs’ - humans had ten toes only ten toes oh gosh no wonder Furihata kept tripping on flat surfaces for absolutely no reason! - and sat gingerly on the armrest near Furihata’s head. “I am so tired of this goddamit. Four years. Four years, Akashi! Of being step-siblings with that savage beast and not once did he have a good word for me. Not once-”
Furihata continued mumbling and muffling his words into the cushion and Akashi tried his level-best to understand - he had been studying the habits of humans from the ‘TV’ Furihata had shown him how to use and almost all those ‘Kaydrama’ that ran on it said you should pat ‘head’ repeatedly and softly and make ‘mhm’ noises. And Akashi was nothing but a good, diligent, student. He patted Furihata’s head softly and repeatedly and made ‘mhm’ sounds in regular intervals.
He wondered how human hair could be so soft and fluffy and nice against his ‘hand skin’ and when he had asked about it, Furihata had blushed and fled, muttering about ‘oblivious idiot’ and ‘no filter for fuck’s sake’. Akashi hadn’t known what to make of it.
Furihata tapered off and Akashi didn’t stop patting his head. He was beginning to like it. A bit. More than a bit. Hmm. This may need some study. Akashi crossed his legs and hummed a tune he had heard on the TV. It was terrible and had jarred his hearing when he had heard the first time but it had somehow gotten stuck in his head and he found himself, to his utter horror, humming it often. He shot a vicious glare at the TV as if it was its fault. Which it totally was. Obviously.
Furihata caught it, “Are you still mad at the TV?”
“It knows, Kouki. It knows. It is cackling in glee at making me do its bidding.”
Furihata sighed and shook his head ruefully, “It……doesn’t. I don’t know how many times I need to-”
“Yes, yes its an ‘appliance’ that runs on eclekti-city but how do you explain it knows what shows I want to watch? How do you explain how it knows which day it is today and what is happening somewhere so far away?” Akashi shot another glare at the TV that is definitely turned off, and obviously pretending to be innocent. “Sorcery, I tell you. Black Magic. The Prophets back home will be stunned to discover such Higher Power resides on Earth at every home. How easy it was to control humans. I am surprised you have lasted this long without an invasion.”
“Soooooo, how does news travel in your planet?”
“Telepathy, of course. If something is to be known to someone or to a group at large, we just convey through our minds. Our Lifelines are connected to the Priestesses in Power. If someone is in danger or in need of help, they know immediately.” Akashi shrugged and resumed patting Furihata’s head. He didn’t want to think about stopping anytime soon.
He switched gears when he realised he has conveyed things regarding his kind. He was here to study humans, not the other way around. “Well, that doesn’t matter now. You tell me who upset you.” Akashi stops, and nearly breaks his neck when he turns to Furihata, “Wait, should I take care of it? I can, of course, but I am not permitted to harm humans. Unless under life threatening circumstances. Was your life threatened? Were you in physical danger? Where does your step-sibling dwell?” Akashi starts to get up when Furihata grabs him back onto the couch.
“No, no, nonono, I am fine. Here see! All limbs accounted for. Nothing to worry about.” Furihata hurries to placate him. God knows what Akashi was capable of. Mibuchi had said Akashi was their leader and being a leader meant he was powerful to a great extent, right? Either way, Furihata didn’t want to find out.
Akashi looked scary enough with the fiery red hair and eyes that blazed deep into your soul. Furihata secretly loved them. They were so expressive and intense and he felt pleasant shivers go through him every time Akashi made eye-contact. Which was often, what with them living together. It was disastrous for his heart. Was it Alien Magic? It must be Alien Magic. No human alive made him feel that way. “I was….just thinking about how……people whom you care about should …….you know, what’s that word? Um….. Reciprocate? Yeah, that’s the one. Reciprocate.”
Akashi looked confused. And when he was confused he tilted his head to the side with his eyes looking all adorable and red hair falling artfully over his face that Furihata couldn’t stand it. No one could stand it. He melted. He had a hard time believing this was indeed an alien living in house for a reconnaissance mission but all he knew was this cute too-beautiful-to-be-true guy who looked adorably confused all the fucking time. Dammit. It was so not good for his heart.
“I mean,” Furihata said, “If you like someone, family or otherwise, you would….want to know things about them, right? Things they tell, things they don’t tell but you know that’s how they are and all that.”
Akashi considered, “Like how you don’t like towels on the bathroom floor?”
“Exactly! Yes!” Furihata smiled, relieved. Akashi smiled back. It was wonderful to see Furihata smile like that. At him. Like Akashi did something to put it there. And that the effort had paid off. It made Akashi’s chest puff up in pride. “That’s what I meant about things that people don’t particularly say, but they like it that way anyway. If you care about someone you should take the effort to know, for example, how they take their tea, you know? That’s common knowledge.”
“Too much milk and too much sugar.” Akashi answered promptly.
Furihata stopped and stayed silent and sat up and faced Akashi slowly, “What?”
“Too much milk and too much sugar,” Akashi repeated slowly as if Furihata hadn’t heard him the first time. He missed petting Furihata’s head. Not that he would voice it out loud. “That’s how you take your tea. Although it makes me slightly scared that you don’t exercise at all and still have that much sugar for your daily intake-”
“Wait, what?”
“I said, that much sugar-”
“I didn’t mean that! I meant…..why would you know how I take…” Furihata looked wild, face pinking all of a sudden. Akashi wondered what caused it. “My tea…how? I-why?”
“You said it yourself,” Akashi informed, confused, tilting his head again and Furihata wants to gnash his teeth at the adorableness of it all. Furihata’s heart is fluttering like a mad hummingbird and he knew his face was blushing a color rivaling Akashi’s hair. Akashi continued, blissfully ignoring the crisis he was putting Furihata through, “If you care about someone, you know how they take their tea.”
Oh.
Akashi’s eyes went wide as he realised what he had said.
Akashi felt himself color, felt his blood rush to his face and tips of his ears, he knew he was pinking up just like Furihata. He braved himself to look at Furihata and promptly colored harder when he saw Furihata smiling at him. Smiling like Akashi was the single most important thing in the world. In Furihata’s world. Too wide and too bright. Sucking in all of the light from the room and shining like a beacon. Eyes crinkling in the corners and dimples on both cheeks. It must hurt but Furihata doesn’t seem to be in any pain. All the pain seemed to be in Akashi’s chest. Strange.
“Its….Its hard not to,” Akashi felt the need to say something, anything to make Furihata stop smiling at him like that. It was making the insides of his body all tingly and jittery. He should get himself checked. Maybe he was malfunctioning.
Furihata laughed and it was a delightful sound. All light and happy and carefree. And Akashi couldn’t help but pink harder and felt his chest tightening further, nearly choking him. That was until Furihata said softly, almost reverently, “I care about you too, Sei.”
It took a full minute before his brain processed the words but when it did, Akashi felt his face split in half with the force of his smile. Staring wondrously at the dark pink Furihata was sporting on his face and knowing he was in the same state possibly, he made a note to check both of them up with Mibuchi at the earliest.
But for now, he was feeling satisfyingly happy and light and carefree to sit here on an old wheezing lumpy couch with the human he cared for. And who cared for him back.
[HAPPY AKAFURI DAY!!! Thanks to @glyphmax for giving me this wonderful prompt

Question tag for AO3 writers~~
I found the original questions on AFF a while back, and I thought since I’ve been tagged in so many meme things lately, I’d also tag a bunch more people in this one XD Since the questions were designed for AFF, I’ve reworked some of them to fit for AO3 writers. I also removed two questions rather than trying to translate them to AO3 terms. So, I’ll fill out my answers first, and then put the blank questions again at the bottom for you to easily copy and paste!
1. How did you come up with your username and what does it mean?
SIFU_HOTMAN because Zuko is one of my favorite characters and honestly Aang calling him “Sifu Hotman” is hilarious.
2. Which fanfic of yours has the most feedback? (bookmarks/subscriptions/hits/kudos)
Exactly My Type by a long shot, lol.
3. What is your AO3 profile icon and why did you choose it?
It’s Izaya Orihara to represent the trash on my page.
4. Do you have any regular/favourite commenters?
Yes! I’m shocked when I read through my comments and see how often the same people will comment on each chapter. And there are definitely one or two that I look forward to seeing. I recognize a ton of usernames on AO3 but I don’t know many of them on here.
5. Is there a fanfic that you keep going back to read again and again?
THIS fic by the super-talented @courtingstars! I swear I’ve reread this fic like 6 dozen times at this point, as well as the sequel! (For real tho, I could probably recite this fic word for word, I love it so much. AkaFuri fans, if you haven’t checked it out, I can’t recommend it enough!)
6. How many stories are you subscribed to? How many do you have bookmarked?
I’m guilty of not subbing or bookmarking that much, because it got to the point where I had so many that it kinda made it pointless, lol. But I’m subscribed to 2 users, and 5 fics, and I have 46 bookmarks.
7. Which AU do you find yourself writing the most?
I don’t really write AU’s all that much? (I think I only have 2, the Nanny/Single Parent AU and a Red String of Fate AU). I definitly want to try doing more tho! I was super nervous about the Nanny/Single Parent one, but now it’s my hightest hitting fic! And it was from a prompt! lol
8. How many people are subscribed and bookmarked to you in total? (you can view this on the stats page)
Total bookmarks: 311 Total subs: 337
9. Is there something you’d like to write about but are afraid of people judging you for it? (Feeling brave? If so, share it!)
The only thing I can think of right now is I want to get better/ more comfortable with writing smut lmao. I’ll conquer it one day!
10. Is there anything you would like to be better at? Writing certain scenes or genres, replying to comments, updating better, etc.
Updating better, for sure. It eats me alive that it’s been almost a year since I started Exactly My Type, and I’ve only written 5 chapters! It’s so hard to find time with all the overtime at work, and with everything else. BUT that’s something I definitely plan on changing.
And maybe replying to comments? I generally don’t reply (I feel so bad about this, I’m so sorry. Comments just make me an incoherent mess and I’m never sure how to reply without rambling and making an idiot of myself)
11. Do you write rarepairs or popular ships more often?
Is AkaFuri a rarepair? I know it was more considered one a while ago, but I don’t know anymore. I guess whatever category they fall under, that’s it lol.
12. How many stories have you posted on AO3 to this day (finished and unfinished)?
Eight! Which is eight more than I thought I would write.
13. How many stories do you have saved in/with your writing program?
I have 30 stories saved on Google Docs. (I’m shocked? lmao)
14. Do you write down story ideas, or just keep them in your head?
Everything in my head. My ten hour shifts at work mostly consist of me staring off into space and writing fan fiction in my head.
15. Have you ever co-authored a story?
Other than bouncing ideas off of a friend, no. It sounds fun tho!
16. How did you discover AO3?
Searching for ATLA fanfiction like, 4 years ago. After reading everyting FanFiction.net had to offer, I found AO3 and immediately made the switch.
17. Do you consider yourself to be a popular or famous author in your fandom(s) on AO3?
God, no lmao. I think I’m IN the AkaFuri barrel, but far from the top of it.
18. Do you have a nickname or fandom name for your readers?
Not that I know of? I get comments about how much people like my username sometimes, so I’m cool with it if people just wanna call me Sifu Hotman lmao.
19. Was there an author who inspired or encouraged you to write?
My inspiration mainly came from a desire for more AkaFuri fics, lmao. But there were a few amazing writers who reallllly made me want to try writing, and I was encouraged plenty by my best friend, so here I am lol.
20. What writing advice would you give to a beginning author?
To just write. I worried for so long (and I still do) about not being good enough, or making a mistake, or failing. But the only way to get better at writing is to write! If someone doesn’t like you’re story, odds are you’ll either get some helpful advice, or feedback on the part they did like. Even if you don’t want to post it publicly, just write it out anyway. I think I’ve improved so much since the first thing I wrote, and I hope I get even better the more I do it.
21. Do you plot out your stories, or do you just figure it out as you go?
Again, spending 10 hours a day, 5 days a week in my own head, I get most of my stories down to the tiniest details before I even get to a computer. Once I sit down, some things may change or come out different, but I rarely go to write without having any idea.
22. Have you ever gotten a bad comment on a story? If so, what did you do?
Actually... no, I don’t think I have.
23. Is there a certain type of scene that you have a hard time writing? (action, smut, etc..)
Smut, for sure lol.
24. What story(s) are you working on now?
Fucking chapter 6 of Exactly My Type! (I just broke 6K the other day, and it’s not even halfway done). After that, I’m on to Defying Fate, with a couple of prompts inbetween.
25. Do you plan your next project(s) before you finish your current ongoing story(s)?
Sorta...I guess. Exactly My Type happened because of a prompt request that got waaaay out of control, so that was poor planning on my part lmao.
26. Do you have a daily writing goal set for yourself?
Not at all. I just go for it whenever I get the chance.
27. Do you think you’ve improved as a writer since you first started?
100% yes. I want to crawl into a hole whenever I think about my first fic, lol.
28. What is your favorite story that you’ve written?
I’m gonna shove the AkaFuri away for a second and go with Absolutely Baked. Mayuzumi is my favorite character to write for, and I think I got some pretty funny dialogue in that one. It makes me laugh, and the extra chuckles my friend and I got while discussing it were totally worth it.
29. What is your least favorite story that you’ve written?
I don’t think I have a least favorite? If I had to pick probably my first fic, Emperor's Weakness.
30. Where do you see yourself (as a writer) in 5 years?
Hopefully still writing fanfiction, lol. I would like to try writing some original work, but I doubt it.
31. What is the easiest thing about writing?
Dialogue, I think. Once I get in a characters head, I find it very easy to write from their point of view.
32. What is the hardest thing about writing?
Getting a full plot to run together. I’m pretty good at getting certain scenes down, but I have trouble piecing them all together sometimes.
33. Why do you write?
Simply, because it’s fun. I know how happy it makes me when I read a super-awesome fic, and I like the feeling I get when someone tells me I gave them the same feeling.
Anyways that’s all the questions, so I’ll put them here as well without the answers to easily c+p.
1. How did you come up with your username and what does it mean? 2. Which fanfic of yours has the most feedback? (bookmarks/subscriptions/hits/kudos) 3. What is your AO3 profile icon, and why did you choose it? 4. Do you have any regular/favourite commenters? 5. Is there a fanfic that you keep going back to read again and again? 6. How many stories are you subscribed to? How many do you have bookmarked? 7. Which AU do you find yourself writing the most? 8. How many people are subscribed and bookmarked to you in total? (you can view this on the stats page) 9. Is there something you’d like to write about but are afraid of people judging you for it? (Feeling brave? If so, share it!) 10. Is there anything you would like to be better at? Writing certain scenes or genres, replying to comments, updating better, etc. 11. Do you write rarepairs or popular ships more often? 12. How many stories have you posted on AO3 to this day (finished and unfinished)? 13. How many stories do you have saved in/with your writing program? 14. Do you write down story ideas, or just keep them in your head? 15. Have you ever co-authored a story? 16. How did you discover AO3? 17. Do you consider yourself to be a popular or famous author in your fandom(s) on AO3? 18. Do you have a nickname or fandom name for your readers? 19. Was there an author who inspired or encouraged you to write? 20. What writing advice would you give to a beginning author? 21. Do you plot out your stories, or do you just figure it out as you go? 22. Have you ever gotten a bad comment on a story? If so, what did you do? 23. Is there a certain type of scene that you have a hard time writing? (action, smut, etc..) 24. What story(s) are you working on now? 25. Do you plan your next project(s) before you finish your current ongoing story(s)? 26. Do you have a daily writing goal set for yourself? 27. Do you think you’ve improved as a writer since you first started? 28. What is your favorite story that you’ve written? 29. What is your least favorite story that you’ve written? 30. Where do you see yourself (as a writer) in 5 years? 31. What is the easiest thing about writing? 32. What is the hardest thing about writing? 33. Why do you write?

(Guess who has another new AkaFuri AU even though he hasn't finished the previous ones? Yep, that's me.)
(And yes, I'm still working on both the A/B/O AU & the Prince!Seijūrō × Waiter!Kōki AU)
AkaFuri AU where they're from 2 different time periods.
Kōki is a farmer and/or a fisherman in the, say, either Heian period or Edo period. Seijūrō is a businessman in the modern-day - either from the late 2010s to early 2020s (2017-2022).
It's a special day for one Kōki Furihata. For today, he'll finally get to see and receive the family heirloom for the first time. Kōki sits in anticipation. He can't wait to see the item that's worth a lot of treasures.
Soon, his parents & big brother return home, carrying a large box wrapped in a luxurious fabric. They lifted the fabric to reveal an ornate looking cabinet.
Kōki is a bit slumped. He expected something more fancy, like a piece of jewelry. But still, he can't deny the excellent craftsmanship of the cabinet.
Oh well, at least he has more room to put items on.
In a moment of carelessness, Kōki absent-mindedly put his favorite book inside the cabinet.
And if he pays close attention, then he would've noticed the cabinet closes by itself & there's a brief flash of light shone through the keyhole.
Seijūrō Akashi just got back home from work when he remembered that he needed to finish some things.
So he gets up, puts his bag away, & starts opening his laptop.
He puts his phone inside an ornate looking cabinet so he won't be distracted.
However, little does he know that the cabinet is no ordinary object. The moment he takes his eyes off, the cabinet closes itself & a small glimmer of light flashes from the keyhole.
Kōki is certain that he put his book inside the cabinet. So why, instead of his book, there's a strange looking object inside?
The object is rectangular, with rounded corners. It appears to be made of metal, except for one side of the rectangle that looks reflective, almost like a mirror. Kōki also notices a few slim, smaller shapes on both long sides of the object & some odd-shaped holes on the object's short sides.
Out of curiosity, Kōki presses one of the smaller shapes. And the reflective part of the object glows.
Kōki dropped the object in shock. He's stunned by what just happened.
Cautious, he picks up the object again. He presses his hand on the glowing surface, preparing for the worst.
But nothing happened.
So he looks at the glowing mirror (?) & notices a picture of 6 men. Each of them has hair with bright, unusual colors. Together, their hair form the colors of the rainbow. Perhaps one of these men is the owner of this object?
Before he can find out more about this strange object further, he hears his big brother calling for him.
Guess Kōki will have to put his search on hold.
Seijūrō can't find his phone.
He swore he left it inside the cabinet, but when he opened it, his phone was nowhere to be found.
Instead, there's a book inside.
And it's not just any book. It's one of the oldest books in history. But the most puzzling thing for Seijūrō is the book's pristine condition. No yellowed pages, no smudged, blurred writings.
But for now, he has more pressing matters: find his phone. So he uses his tablet to search for the phone's location. He logged in using his business accounts to message his personal accounts.
Kōki starts to have an idea how the object works when suddenly the "mirror" glows again & this time there's a writing on it. Curious, he taps his finger on it & the "mirror" shows several writings.
"I'd like to have my phone back, please."
"Please return my phone."
"Why aren't you answering my calls?"
"Please give me back my phone. Otherwise, I'll have no choice but to report you to the authorities for theft."
Kōki feels slightly intimidated. And as much as he wants to return this...phone (?) to whoever owns it, he has no way of finding out the owner's location.
But apparently, he doesn't have to worry about that as whoever messages him initiates a meeting at a park.
So he agreed.
It's been hours since whoever has Seijūrō's phone promised to meet, but there's no sign of anyone out there.
So he takes out his tablet, messages them again.
The reply comes in seconds.
"I a m at th e p ark"
Seijūrō replies, asking their specific whereabouts, their appearance & what are they wearing.
"I m n ea r t he gi n ko tre e"
"I ha ve a sho rt b row n hai r"
"Im we ar ing a b row n ha o ri"
Seijūrō tries to search for anyone with the matching description, but he has no luck.
So he takes a photo of himself & sends it to the chat.
But the reply is unexpected.
"Wh a t ki nd of ga r me nt i s th at"
Seijūrō explains its a blazer, a shirt & a tie.
More conversations, questions & answers later, Seijūrō eventually find out whoever this person is, they're from an era where Seijūrō hadn't been born yet.
Kōki can't stop looking at the picture of the man.
A small sound comes from the phone, showing Kōki a picture of a book. His missing book.
"By any chance, is this yours?"
Kōki immediately replies.
"Y es"
Another small sound.
"What's your name?"
Kōki replies.
"K ou k i fu r ih a ta"
Another small sound again.
"I am Akashi Seijūrō. It's a pleasure to make your acquaintance, Furihata-kun."
And that's how the friendship of 2 young men separated by time & space begins to blossom.
Very 'across space and time, i will find you' which is sweet and very akafuri. Its a cool theme!
One of the reasons i was slow to answer is because im having a hard time imagining how this progresses- obviously right, this is not my thought bunny. I can not see what direction you intend to take this. And i love learning that through reading, i love being taken on an unexpected ride
Im just spitballing ideas about how this could continue
Their friendship grows as they began to learn more about the other and their hobbies- their troubles- their philosophy- who they are as a person. There's a moment where Akashi tries to search for him in history- like through the birth and death records. He is able to find Furihata's birth record but no death record, he even goes to the Furihata's gravesite and is unable to find Furihata Kouki. It comes to a point where they mutually want to see each other. In a moment of unmatched bravery that Furihata has not felt until this moment, he himself goes into the cabinet. Which then this becomes a whole different story or could end with Furihata looking up when the door opens and saying, "Akashi..."
Presuming that a living thing can not go through the cabinet, I think it would be interesting if the story turned towards reincarnation. Like there is a version of themselves living in their respective time periods that they have yet to meet. Do they have the same names or is it different? IDK but either way I feel like it would be highly interesting to see one of them trying to bridge the gap between the person through time and the one infront of them, how they might be similar or different, bringing the thematic question of 'how much does someone have to change to not be the same person anymore?' but now this is SERIOUSLY a whole different story than the one you began with
Thank you for the ask! Hope you have a good day!!

Notes for Storming the Castle, Chapters 1 & 2
Hello to my lovely AkaFuri readers! I just posted Chapter Two of Storming the Castle, so here are my notes for the fic, finally. (It turns out the delay was a good thing, because my plans for the fic changed a bit!)
About the Length/Format
Storming the Castle story should be novella length, around 30K~40K. (Fast Train was 85K, so about half that length or less!) The fic has two main parts, one half of the story for each visit. I was going to divide them into six chapters, whenever I switched point of view, but... That would’ve made two really long chapters, and four short ones? (Plus a longer wait for the long chapters!) So instead, there will be eight shorter chapters. The PoV will go like this:
Furi --> Akashi --> Akashi --> Furi --> Akashi --> Furi --> Furi --> Akashi
(Ch. 2 & 3 are basically like a single chapter from Akashi’s PoV, while 6 & 7 are a single Furi PoV. There will also be a short Furi PoV epilogue at the end.)
... Hopefully it will be obvious why I did this once I post more of the story? Either way, at least the chapters won’t take as long to write as Fast Train. XD (For anyone who liked the longer chapters, the third story in my AkaFuri series should be closer to Fast Train’s length!)
Cultural & Miscellaneous Notes
Here are some notes for Chapters One and Two! Mostly about Japanese culture things. A lot of anime fans are probably familiar with most of this, but I figured it couldn’t hurt to write it, in case anyone was curious or wanted details.
(Also, I should mention that I stole a lot of the things in this fic from my sister’s experiences studying and teaching in Japan, so thank you, @spinelstar! I’ll probably talk about my favorite example of that in my notes for Chapter Three.)
(Cut for notes about sleepovers, gift-giving, Furihata’s family’s names, and goodness knows what else...)
On Sleepovers
Generally speaking, Japanese kids don’t spend the night at their friends’ houses as often as kids in Western countries do. Some of it has to do with space; many Japanese houses don’t have a lot of room for guests, and privacy is limited. But also, it’s a bigger deal for guests to visit in general! That doesn’t mean overnight visits never happen, but there isn’t the same “sleepover culture” that I experienced growing up in the U.S. So Akashi being unsure of the “rules” of sleeping over has partly to do with his upbringing as an Akashi, and partly to do with how it isn’t as frequent in Japan. (Which is why Midorima isn’t sure how to answer his questions, and why a guy like Takao--who don’t care as much about politeness--would just wing it. //laughs)
On Bringing Gifts/Temiyage/Omiyage
On that note, there are Japanese customs for house visits in general. If you visit someone’s home, it’s polite to bring a gift. It’s also polite to insist the gift isn’t very good, and for the recipient to refuse it, sometimes multiple times! The recipient may also wait until later to open it. Here’s a rundown of some fairly common visiting etiquette, and more about gift-giving is here and here. In the fic, Akashi gives Furihata’s mother his gift right away, as it’s intended to be refrigerated. (What it is will come up in Chapter Three!)
Visiting gifts are called temiyage. There’s another type of gift called omiyage, in which Japanese people who go on a trip pretty much anywhere are expected to bring back souvenirs for their friends and family. So basically, there are tons of occasions where Japanese families receive gifts! Often a Japanese home will have some of these items on display, or even stuffed in a closet. (The tendency for this to cause clutter is one reason why food gifts are usually preferred.)
On Zaibatsu
I won’t go into this too much, but Akashi’s family in KnB is pretty clearly supposed to be a zaibatsu. The real-life reality of modern zaibatsu is not the same as in popular fiction... But in anime at least, zaibatsu are incredibly powerful old families who are ridiculously wealthy, and head up massive conglomerates. An example of a real-life conglomerate that started as a zaibatsu is Mitsubishi.
On the Genkan
There are different styles of houses and apartments in Japan, but basically all of them will have a genkan! This is the space right at the front door where you take off your shoes. It’s often lower than the rest of the floor, and you leave your shoes inside. Then you walk around the rest of the house in socks, and/or wear slippers.
It’s not always practical for the host family to provide super comfortable slippers to their guests (it’s more common to have a basic pair, if that), but since Furi and Akashi are so close in size, I thought a lending situation would be cute. ❤️ (Or maybe I just wanted to make a “perfect fit” joke because fairy tales, but uh anyway. XD Though I guess it isn’t really Cinderella, maybe more like The Prince and the Pauper? //laughs)
(Also, for anyone curious, I generally picture the Furihata house as looking something like the third photo in this blog entry, or the sixth photo on this page. Both give you some idea what a typical Japanese house looks like!)
On Summer in Japan
The fic takes place in mid-July of their second year, during the start of summer break. So I tried to incorporate a lot of things that are associated with summer in Japan! Mid-July is when the rainy season ends. The rainy season in Japan is unbelievably humid. Hydrangeas bloom during that time, like the ones outside Furihata’s house. Then after the rainy season comes the really hot summer. (I do not recommend visiting Japan in the summer, personally? I have done it, and... yeah. So much sweating. XD) Japanese coping mechanisms include AC units (usually a wall unit in a room with a remote control), fans of all kinds, chilled barley tea, and food like watermelon and chilled soba noodles. Another Japanese item with summer associations is a glass wind chime. (As in this emoji! --> 🎐)
On Shichi-Go-San
One thing that was specifically Japanese about the photo album Furihata’s mother showed Akashi was the photo of the coming-of-age event Shichi-Go-San. This is a sort of ceremony for Japanese kids that happens first when they turn three, and then again when boys turn five and girls turn seven. It’s a really popular time to take pictures, because the children get dressed up in traditional clothes and go to a shrine for a blessing. They also get candy called chitose-ame, which they usually carry around in a long, colorful bag. It’s supposed to bring them property and long life. (”Chitose” stands for a thousand years.)
(If you haven’t seen little kids doing this in person before, I urge you to do a Google image search for “shichi-go-san” and prepare for your brain to melt because it’s pretty much the cutest thing in the known universe.)
On Furihata’s Family’s Names
It’s probably painfully obvious, but I’ve been dying to write about Furihata’s family for forever! The Furihata surname itself means “below the standard” (via this post!), which is... not the most auspicious name? //laughs But it’s why I always pictured them as a very typical, “ordinary” sort of family.
Kouki (光樹) has the kanji for light in his name, and the full translation in the above post is “establishes brilliance.” I always thought that was such a fitting name for him! I wanted his family’s names to sound a bit like his, while also being common names, and having meanings that fit their characters. For his brother, I tried to pick a name that matched my take on his personality, and I came up with Kintarou (金太郎). Which means “golden first son” (and is also the name of a popular folk tale character!). Furihata’s mother is Kaori, and Furihata’s father is Yoshio. Here are the kanji I picked for them:
香織 = Kaori, “fragrance weave” (shares a kanji with the name Shiori because I’m a mean person, also I like to headcanon that they would’ve gotten along)
良夫 = Yoshio, “good man” (also can be read “agreeable husband” //laughs)
I think that pretty much covers it! I’ll have a few more notes to share in future chapters. Thank you for reading, and I hope you’re enjoying the fic! I’m definitely having a lot of fun writing it. ❤️

the thing that makes The Fast Train to Kyoto (and A Spark of Light as a whole) a perfect study of akafuri is that within 2 chapters of switching between povs we notice how many characteristic similarities they have:
- they both want to challenge themselves, to improve, and the other is the vehicle for this improvement. Akashi wants to become someone who can put people to ease and Furihata wants to overcome his anxiety.
- they both have old souls. it's not exactly a taste for the finer things in life, but it's an appreciation for two-generation-ago's hobbies: Akashi with his tea ceremonies and Furihata with his trainspotting, and their mutual appreciation for folklore, fairytales, and epics.
- they are both earnest in discussion, always engaging and asking further questions
- the way they handle conflict is also similar in that they are both ready to start at zero again once given proper meltdown time, it's that polite gracious attitude

After Akashi & Furihata officially tie the knot, they're ready to spend their first night together as husbands. However, what's supposed to be a passionate steamy night soon turns into a heart-to-heart moment between them as each man takes on the full extent of his partner's scars, both old & new.
Awww I literally started tearing up 💕 like okay, there is a certain order to this to make the image in my head make sense.
1) Kouki has to be the one to propose. The person who proposes has to think out their feelings and their partners, plan the event, and execute- that's alot of thinking. And while both the boys are overthinkers in their own right, it's in different ways. Sei will consider something from every angle and logically access everything- unless he is overwhelmed with joy or too focused on another task.
2. Sei plans the hell out of this wedding. You know the one fic where he plans midotaka's wedding? Yeah that turned up to fucking eleven. He isn't going to have a chance to consider what this - partnership for the rest of their lives - means until the dust has settled, they are alone, the night has fallen, hands held on the bed and rings on fingers. The metallic cold on his skin- that's when it hits him. That's when he cries. Hides his face in Kouki's shoulder, unable to catch his breath.
3) "I never thought I would be lucky enough to be married, to be loved and accepted, let alone by the love of my life... Not after everything I've done." Something along these lines and then
4) Kouki's empathy kicks in and he starts crying too because even though they are different, they are achingly similar.
5) God the image of them cuddled around each other, crying, their sweet soft loving whispers, kissing away the tears, wetly laughing- be still my heart
6) and maybe.... maybe they can get back on track and Kouki can uh... you know, consumate their marriage. I believe in switch akafuri 😚

Hot Take but Furihata is mentally stronger than Akashi.
It’s demonstrated in canon(yes, something canon for Akafuri discussion and not just my wild assumptions I might cry)
Furihata is an average player, he gets nervous easily, he’s also labelled the ‘coward’. We all know this stuff. But he played. He found his footing and actually managed to stay cool. In the most high-pressure part of the finals, he found inner strength, and even volunteered to go on for longer against GOAT, guy-who’s-been-hyped-up-the-entire-series-Akashi. The only reason he didn’t was because he was exhausted.
Akashi on the other hand, just gave up mid-game when the goings got a little tougher. Shirogane himself said “I didn’t know he was so mentally weak”, and MAYUZUMI had to give him the pep talk for him to switch to Oreshi and get back to being calm.
This, can’t be held against him  though, because he was dealing with dissociation and mentally he was always in a bad place. But even in Extra Game he was going through shit the entire game.
Furihata knows failure well, he’s like most of us who know failure isn’t the end all and be all, and that we can always try again. Akashi doesn’t acknowledge this fact well, even if he knows it.
So when shit hits the fan, I guarantee Akashi would start off confident but slowly lose it, but Furihata would be the opposite; starting off panicked as fuck, adapting to the situation, and then trying stuff to fix the problem.
Gosh I love this dynamic sdghjfgkkj my AkaFuri trash heart SOARS

I think it was Down, a Hulu Into the Dark movie, interesting movie but I feel like the unintentional message of “you can’t trust anybody because they can be lying and could hurt you” directly contradicts the message that humans should live by, “don’t judge, you don’t know the whole story, be kind” WHICH THEY TRY TO SHOW FIRST?? It’s interesting and I really liked when “the bad guy” is switched in this very vindictive way where the lead actress has hurt the lead actor more and is in the postion of power now and it’s an interesting shift that feels similar to power struggles and was telling of human assumptions- I really liked that aspect of it!
Currently Watching: I’m watching HunterxHunter with a few friends, I have like only 10 episodes left :’(   I also watched the 13th? episode of Re:zero season 2, wild man
Currently Consuming: I’m drinking a coke orange vanilla, yes I am the only person in the world who likes it jfkdlsaj
Food I’m Craving: Hmmm, its like constantly switching between pizza and sushi and ‘chinese’ cashew chicken idk if that’s actually chinese food? I feel like its the americanized chinese food but maybe im wrong
Tagging: @taigainside and any other mutuals who see this & want do it!!
