So. I finally burned out.
I can’t bring myself to anything. I don’t know where to turn to right now. If I didn’t have a literal shoulder angel on me all the time that tries to get me to do things, I would’ve started skipping meals and staying in bed all day without moving much by now… although I am tempted to start ignoring Akavishiel sometimes…
I look at the rest of the Cluster and I feel ashamed that I can’t keep up with them. I’m not even that old, I’m only 19.
I wish I didn’t get so tired so easily.

🕸SPIDER-SONA AU: GAY URBAN FANTASY EDITION🕸
So I’ve been sending myself through Special Interest Hell after I rekindled my love for Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse and remembered that I had a sona that I wanted to redesign! Now I’m laser focused on basically making an entire Universe for her! Might do a big post doing into detail with her and her friends (and enemies... and frienemies too lmao) but for now some basics about my reimagining!
Amari Santos/Spider-Glass: Based on the mirror spider, Amari Santos gets her powers from a spidery angel named Akavishiel that was accidentally bonded to her when they attempted to save her from a demonic attack (not unlike the Symbiotes who basically demons in this AU). Now hosting this angel within her body, she has access to the angel’s magic over spiders and mirrors, hence the name. While as a civilian she struggles with being a timid, closeted catholic high schooler with a ton of Religious Guilt™️, she still tries her best to fight against the many entities that haunt NYC...
Gwen Stacy: A pastel goth girl, Gwen is a long time friend of Amari who also attends the same catholic high school as her. However unlike her best friend Amari who still holds on the religion she was raised on (even when she has many crises in faith), Gwen has long since become disillusioned by Catholicism, especially since her dad forced her to go. Feeling disconnected by her experiences, she became an atheistic satanist (specifically The Satanic Temple variety) who looks at the world with a healthy amount of skepticism. She is also the person who convinces Glass to join a paranormal group she works with called the Cobweb Paranormal Society...
MJ Watson: The passionate lead investigator of the Cobwebs, Mary Jane “MJ” Watson spends her free time running the paranormal group her aunt (Anna Watson) and Amari’s aunt (Maria Santos) founded as teens back in the late 70s. Like Gwen, MJ has known Amari for years and while she goes to a different school from them, she remains close to both as ever. A bubbly enthusiast and hardcore believer, she has big aspirations for trying to help others with dealing with the supernatural and trying to learn more about the phenomena skeptics have yet to explain. She’s one of the first people who find out the identity of Spider-Glass and has bit of a HUGE crush on Amari...
Felicia Hardy/Black Cat: Part cat burglar, part drug dealer, all warlock. Felicia Hardy is a strange individual who Amari has a very complicated relationship with. Getting her powers via a pact with a Cat Sìthe, she uses its power over blessings and curses to aid her in her own affairs, usually either giving herself a boost of good luck or giving anyone who gets in her way bad luck. Despite her tendency of getting into trouble and her shady methods of getting ahead in life, she is far from being truly malicious and she even helps Spider-Glass and the Cobwebs at times...
Harry Osborn: The son of the billionaire Norman Osborn, Harold “Harry” Osborn is another member of the Cobwebs, friend of Gwen and MJ, and acquaintance of Amari. When dealing with the overwhelming pressure from his domineering father to take up the mantle as the future CEO of OsCorp, Harry uses the time he spends investigating with the Cobwebs as a means of escape. Though he tries to remain close to the friends he’s made through the Cobwebs, he hides the truth about the fae nature of his father, which he too has inherited...

👁‍🗨 for Spider-Glass? 🪞
I’d say that we technically met a few different times-- Spider-Con and Goo-Con being among those, with the Contest of Champions being where I felt we really got the chance to become acquainted. You’ve definitely got a good head on your shoulders, and I came to quickly respect both you and Akavishiel. I can always appreciate someone that’s kind, but can also stand their ground when it comes to their ideals.
I, uh, wish I could’ve been a bit more present for the Ock situation, but dealing with the curse Odyssia tossed my way didn’t really help me in that regard. At the very least, though, I had enough trust in you to know that I wouldn’t be stuck down there for long.

[A box is found on Amari's doorstep.
A note inside says, "Sorry this is late, been busy with work. Happy 20th! - Mr. Parker, Cecil Robinson, 031095"
Inside was a handmade plush of Akavishiel, mirrored eyes mimicked by reflective silver fabric, two litre-sized containers of handmade chicken noodle soup stored in a ziploc bag filled with ice, and a bag of sugar cookies decorated with slightly badly-executed pictures of various sea creatures.
The cookies were labeled with a sticky note that read "- Cecil, Maisey helped!", and a taped on photo of Maisey, a furry black and white cat, sniffing the bowl full of batter.]

Thank you, you two! You’re both way too nice. 🥺

🕸🪞SPIDERSONA AU: SOME REDESIGNS🪞🕸
OOC: So I’ve recently redesigned (and retconned shh) my designs for spidersona, Spider-Glass, and her demonic rival, Shatter! Along with this, I’ve done a design for Akavishiel as well (and paired it w the demon symbiote) below! So since I never really talked about them, I’ll talk about Akavi, the the Angel of Mirrors and Spiders!
Tumblr media
Akavishiel: Once an Angel sent by their Celestial superiors above to roam the Earth to protect humanity, Akavishiel spent many years wandering around and carrying out the will of their Patron, the Heavenly Host, in whatever form they asked. An Angel who had dominion over mirrors and spiders, they were stationed in the city of New York City to keep watch over the supernatural presences that were local to the area. For the most part, they stayed out of human sight, preferring to remain hidden in the shadows to avoid bringing forth attention from the mundane world. Fully dedicated to their endless work, they would remain this way until one fateful night in 2017. During one of their patrols, they inadvertently witnessed a vicious demon attack upon a young human girl, Amari Santos. Not wanting to stand by, they intervened. Though they managed to fight off the demon, the girl was mortally wounded. In a bid to save Amari’s life, Akavishiel pleaded with the Heavenly Host to ward off death and let her live. Their Patron accepted the bargain, on the condition that Akavishiel would sacrifice their original form to bond themselves to her, essentially serving as her life support. They agreed, and the rest is history…

Amari: U-um?? What just happened to me?
Akavishiel: It would seem that there’s a polymorph spell placed upon us... How very strange. Luckily this spell is not permanent so we will either have to wait until the spell wears off or we can go find someone who can reverse the spell’s effects.
Amari: ... Great.

△ Do you trust your Patron?
[Rating: 8/10]
Well uh… I have no choice but to trust in my Patron.
My Celestial Patron, the Heavenly Host, is what’s keeping me alive by having Akavishiel bonded to my soul…
With that said, I do have to wonder what they think when other mages and entities of the same Patron (such as Scorpion, the Punisher, and Silver Sable) get into fights with me… why does it seems like we can’t ever get along? What’s with the strange infighting between mages and entities of the same Patron? Apparently this isn’t an uncommon occurrence… although thinking about it now, maybe it’s similar to how there’s many denominations of Christianity for example: no large amount of people can unanimously agree on everything.

'GAME OVER'
Fights with Dr. Octavius never got any easier than the first. At least with that first fight, Odyssia didn’t immediately hesitate when she threw scalpels at her. It was far more digestible for Amari just to battle with her like she did with every other mage in the city.
But every confrontation since Doc Ock figured out who Spider-Glass was, had both parties hesitating with each move they made against each other. An unsure, weak spell here. Eyes not meeting each other’s gaze there. Instances of stalling from both that never really address the heavy air of tension… Usually, this would boil over and Odyssia would find herself giving up and escaping while Amari… would let her run off. Or even Odyssia sabotaging her own plans to let Amari win. The next day they’d exchange awkward conversations at the Living Depths Aquarium where they worked before doing something similar again when Doctor Octopus decided to magically mutilate another business executive.
Today was different.
Odyssia already knew this was going to hurt her more the moment she saw how… sluggish Amari’s movements were. Her will to fight barely lasted for ten minutes before she crumpled onto the floor after getting smacked by one of Odyssia’s tentacles. She… didn’t bother getting up. That was more than enough to get Odyssia’s tentacles to disappear and for her villain persona to be dropped.
“Amari?!” Odyssia shouts, hurrying over to Amari’s side. “Are you alright?”
A dejected sigh is let out by Amari as she meets her mentor’s eyes. “… I haven’t been for a long time..”
Odyssia’s gaze softened as she helps Amari up to a sitting position. Amari ends up slumping into her in a hug, with tears welling up in her eyes.
“Oh, Amari..” she cooed, hugging her tightly before letting her go.. Amari sniffles before yanking her mask off to reveal an utterly crushed expression upon her face. She fruitlessly swiped at her tears.
“Doc… I-I’m sorry..”
“Nonono, you don’t need to apologize,” Odyssia reassured, gently wiping some of the tears off of Amari’s cheek. “Do you want to talk about it?”
“Maybe,” Amari managed through pitched sobs, “I just.. I should’ve been a better sister, I should’ve looked after her better… now she’s gone. It’s all my fault.”
Odyssia’s own heart broke into a million pieces as Amari began to cry in her arms. A heaviness set itself in Odyssia’s chest as a wave of sadness hit her at full force.
“Listen… It’s not your fault,” she says, bringing forth a motherly gentleness she herself never really got, “And whatever happens, I’ll do whatever I can to help you. You’re a good kid, Amari.. and I’m so sorry this happened to you and your sister.”
Amari held onto her tightly, unable to let her mother figure go. Tears continued to pour from her stinging eyes as she tried steady her breathing. In a flash of light, Spider-Glass was gone, leaving behind Amari Santos in her wake.
“… I-I can’t be Spider-Glass anymore. It’s all because I was at Patrol and wasn’t there to be with Lucia… I just.. I just can’t do it anymore,” she whimpers in a trembling voice.
She lets go of Odyssia to look directly into her eyes, desperately begging her for something….
“… Please.. You need to remove Akavishiel from my soul. I can’t go on like this anymore...”

△ do you ever regret being bonded with akavishiel? do you wish you could be a normal kid, again?
[Rating: 9/10]
Ok so.. just to get it out of the way: I’m not actually a kid anymore, I’m 19 (I’m still young I guess but legally I’m an adult).
But.. the way I see it, I didn’t have much of a choice in the matter unless I wanted to die (which at the time, I didn’t have instances of suicidal ideation…). If I said no to the terms of my pact (since it was made during a near death experience), I would not have had a second chance at life and I would’ve died at 15, at my own Quincenañera no less.
If I didn’t have Magic and somehow I was able to continue life without being bonded to Akavishiel, then I guess my life would be easier and yet… I wouldn’t have met so many kind and supportive people. I would’ve never met the Cluster. That, in its own right, would be a loss. So, I think for me, the answer would be “no, I don’t want to be a normal kid,”.

🌙 XVIII - The Moon : Fear, illusions, fantasies, delving into the imaginary, loss of direction.
After what seemed like an eternity swallowed up in the darkness of the backstage of the Broadway theater, Amari could feel unseen hands shove her around the stage, as if ushering her to a new position. The overhead lights flash alight, nearly blinding Amari in the process as purple fog rolled out.
“GREATINGS, EVERYONE!” proclaimed a loud, disembodied voice from nearly every direction.
I’m spite their best efforts, neither Amari nor Akavishiel could pinpoint the source of this voice. Everything felt so… fuzzy. Undefined. Was there something in the fog? Whatever the case was, Akavishiel’s voice seemed to get muffled, their words being difficult to discern.
The sound of ghastly applause and jeers filled the air as Amari’s eyes adjusted to the light… now there was an audience filling the once empty seats. Amari felt all their eyes piercing into her as she stood there, spotlight on her and frozen in place. They couldn’t be really there.. right?
And now dear audience, may I present to all of you: the angelic menace of New York City, Spider-Glass!”
At the swish of her cape, Mysterio vanished in a puff of smoke. The audience burst into applause at the feat. In an instant there she was again, now in a front row and center seat. With a clap, the theater was plunged into darkness.. yet even so, Amari could’ve sworn she saw moving figures in the absence of light.
“We now set the scene. Observe,” Mysterio continues, her voice coming from every direction. Colored lights illuminate the stage, Amari found herself at that faithful Quinceañera, back in that obscenely garish ball gown she was forced to wear, back with her old family once again. All in attendance were glaring at her, disapproving of her very existence.
Cornered and alone on the venue floor, Amari saw the world around her distort itself into a sensationalist parody of itself: her dress became more uncomfortable and elaborate, the music was now unbearably loud, the guests now growing large and aggressive as they descend upon her, and even the perspective of the venue exaggerated itself to make the stage seem vast and inescapable.
Reasoning seemed to be quickly pouring out of Amari’s head, and all attempts at rationalizing dwindled as the presence of Mysterio and the theater disappeared. Almost like the theater wasn’t there anymore: now it was just her at this Quinceañera. The fog still held a grip on her logic, now replacing it with the rationality only found in dreams.
This isn’t real. This isn’t real. This isn’t real! So why can I feel the guests getting closer?

‼️ Who’s worked out who you are? Does that worry you?
Amari: Well.. Not many do, since my costume does have some glamour woven in specifically to hide my civilian identity from magical identity scrying whenever I wear it. Plus, those who are able to ‘read presences’ so to speak, they see Akavishiel’s angelic presence over mine. Akavi makes sure to keep my identity shielded from any noisy parkers who can read minds… that said, there are a few who do know who I am that I didn’t personally tell.
Amari: I personally think that my Aunt Maria knows something but she hasn’t said anything about it to me.. Dr. Octavius, of course, knows me outside of being Spider-Glass and she was able to figure it out after enough time. Edith and Shatter know unfortunately.. I had a few close calls with J. Jonah Jameson almost figuring out who I am but that glamour is just enough to trick even his weredog senses. I try to avoid him whenever I can just in case one day his nose manages to figure out who I am. And Lorraine Fox.. she has tried multiple times to figure out my identity with the help of Scorpion. Kraven and Chameleon tried it too, once or twice. None of these have been successful as of yet. Let’s keep it that way.

Oh jeez! Sounds like you had a rough time. What happened?
Amari: … A lot. I am still on the way for properly explaining myself here in a coherent manner but for now I’ll say this: Homebody essentially led me into down a twisting labyrinth of manipulated apartment complex after disturbing one of the items I bugged with hidden motion sensors and realizing that they were caught. They kept turning me around in said apartment by messing with the space and the structure of what was otherwise a singe person apartment, even with Akavishiel’s best efforts.
Amari: However, I did manage to convince them to stop with room shifting by challenging them to a game of hide and seek: if they won by evading me before I could find them by sunrise, I would let them escape with the items.. If I won, I would be allowed to take the items back and Homebody would have to let me capture them. They were very confident that they would beat me so they accepted. So I spent most of my time trying to locate Homebody and they almost won the game… but I managed to find them in the tiny crevices between where the wall and the floor met. At first I though that this would be the end of it and they would avoid a fight but… something in them changed l just as I was about to get the items back from them. They went from mischievous to viciously aggressive out of nowhere and decided to try to kill me. It wasn’t easy to fight a swarm of nanobots that could control the very space you were fighting on but… I did defeat them, though I wish it didn’t come down to essentially frying them. I just.. something about it didn’t feel cut and dry. Even knowing that they did kill people (and I almost died at their hands as well), something about them isn’t sitting right with me.
Amari: I’ll drop it here for now since it is long enough as it is but I’ll explain in detail later. I am feeling better than yesterday.

Update on the Homebody Situation!
MJ: Hey guys, it’s been a hectic night last night. Everyone is alright though Spider-Glass took a massive beating from the Homebody, not to mention that she nearly got crushed by shifting apartment architecture. Honestly if Akavishiel wasn’t there… I really don’t wanna think about what would’ve happened if she wasn’t already super durable. But even with the healing factor she has, we ended up having to call for Cardiac to help her with the more serious injuries.
MJ: It took her nearly 12 hours to get Homebody under control, which I can only imagine that it took a massive toll after the fact. Glass didn’t even realize it took that long until she saw the sun had already risen by the time she got out of there…
MJ: In spite of all that, she’s still going out of her way to write up what exactly happened in that time frame (although I had to get her to stop and take a break to finally let herself rest). Glass was.. barely speaking about the whole thing afterwards, mostly due to the injuries sustained leaving her stunned. I’m trying to piece together what happened from our hidden recording devices and cameras but as soon as Homebody really got to attacking and moving stuff around, those were quickly taken out.
MJ: Some cleanup crew from the Avengers (presumably because Mr. Stark doesn’t want the Avengers or himself for that matter to have anything to do with this mess) came in shortly after to gather up some of the stuff Homebody took and well.. a massive pile of deactivated nanobots. Gwen was right.
MJ: As soon as Glass is feeling better, we’ll let you know and maybe then we’ll get the whole picture.

————————————
It’s about 8:30 AM at The Living Depths Aquarium. Amari, along with several other unrecognizable kids her age gather in the educational center. Amari was rub the sleep out of her eyes as she took a seat on a cold folding chair far away from the majority of her peers. Some were already giving her strange looks as she covered herself with huge jackets and hiding her hands.
Last thing she needed today was for anyone to find out that there were bruises and still healing cuts from her previous night as Spider-Glass.
“... Are you sure you still wish to continue this erm... program? You don’t seem fit to be doing much today.” Akavishiel asked telepathically.
“I’d much rather be here than in my house, Akavi. Besides, I’ll be fine. This isn’t the worst thing I had to recover from.” Amari replies as she tries to stretch her arms upward to get a crick in her neck.
Before Akavishiel could respond, Amari’s attention was snapped into reality when she she saw some staff (or possibly interns) beginning to set up the upcoming introductory presentation for the new education volunteers.
It wasn’t before long that the director and head scientist herself walked up to the stage in from of the seats and stood at the podium in the center with some notecards on hand.
She was a woman just shy of her 30s—about five foot five if Amari had to guess—sporting a paunchy belly and curly black hair tied up in a ponytail. Her lively brown eyes seemed to excitedly study the room from behind her huge circular glasses, taking note of all the new faces in the vicinity. The most noticeable thing about her endearing visage seemed to her aquiline nose and the central tooth gap in her grin that pleasantly pulled her attributes together.
Neatly dressed in a white fish print button down shirt, black dress pants, oxfords, and a fish shaped tie, her fashion was just about as ready as her to share her lifelong passion for marine biology.
She adjusts the podium’s microphone before beginning to speak as her staff projects a PowerPoint onto the screen wall behind her.
“Hello and good morning to you all. My name is Dr. Odyssia Octavius, I’m the head scientist and administrator for The Living Depths Aquarium and Research Center. I’d like to warmly welcome all of you to our educational volunteer program and to personally congratulate you for getting accepted into this prestigious and valuable learning opportunity.”
She pauses to allow for her audience to clap for a moment. She chuckles to herself as she moves to her next card of points and the presentation moves on to next slide detailing some expectations.
“Now, today will be focused on laying down the groundwork on what your responsibilities are when you are here as educational volunteer, showing you around the premises, training you so you can be prepared for your first day next week, and finalizing schedules and any potential needs regarding the program. I—along with the staff here—will be overseeing today’s meeting as we want to make sure that you get the best out of this experience. We’re all very excited to have you here today and we can’t wait to work with you.”
As Dr. Octavius continued with her presentation, Amari seemed to be enthralled by her, already leaning forward in her seat at her sheer enthusiasm and invigorated manner of speaking... As much as Akavishiel was working overtime to secretly tend her last night’s wounds and her exhaustion, she seemed to forget about her aches and sores as she was intently listening to what she had to say.
A desire to learn more from her and to hear more from her had embedded itself in Amari’s mind.

✂ - a vivid memory
Christmas Eve, 2018
————————————
It had to be about 3 AM. As much as she hated to, Amari forced herself to finally go home. Everything ached and her body screamed for rest. She couldn’t keep avoiding her home circumstances.
She swings home by her webs, being careful not to disturb her sleeping parents as she opens a window to let herself in the house. Once inside, she dusted off the snow off her body as Akavishiel’s light briefly engulfed her, her Spider-Glass suit vanishing in a blink of an eye and leaving her in the civvies she had worn just before her patrol. Sighing, she quietly stumbles towards her room. She lowers her gaze as she passes by the door to her sister’s unaltered room. Nothing in her room has been touched for over a week. No one dares to move anything, as the room waited for its owner’s return.
“.. Amari. You did a good job tonight in spite of everything that has happened as of late. Even so, I know your pain is immeasurable.” Akavishiel commiserates within her mind, their gentle voice attempting to soothe.
Amari says nothing as she opens the door to her room and enters. She winced at these words, her stomach twisted itself into knots as she closed the door. She digs her nails into her flesh. On the verge of tears, her eyes began to sting.
“I wish that I could better comfort you than what I have been giving you as of late and I am sorry that I am unable to alleviate your pain—“
“... Don’t bother. We both know that I failed her. And we failed too many people as Spider-Glass. That’s unforgivable.” Amari says lowly as she removes her shoes and sinks into her bed. “Just... just stop talking to me, Akavishiel.”
“... Very well. Please take care of yourself.” Akavishiel solemnly said before going silent.
She was alone. Lying in bed. She wraps herself into the blankets, trying to shield herself from the frigid surroundings of her home. Amari closes her eyes shut, trying to avoid her tears as she tries to fall asleep. Just as merciful sleep was about to finally take her, she felt something there with her in the room. It was small. It slithered her room, reaching her bed. Akavishiel was trying to send out warning signals but Amari was slipping away into unconsciousness.
She felt something cold and scaly embed itself into her skin. It’s touch reached to her heart, swallowing her soul in its maw.
Akavishiel’s warnings abruptly cease.
As her mind drifted away into slumber, Amari felt.. empty in the core. Something soon made a home in her gut, dull and small in its presence.
But it eagerly begged for something to satisfy its decadent hunger as it lay in wait.
Something to fill the void. Something to sink its teeth into.
