Mini Profiles: Hoodlum
Tumblr media
Yandere type: Obsessive
Traits: Manipulative, Clingy, Controlling, Stalker, Worshiper
Is it Instant love or one that grow over time:
It happens quickly, usually only taking a few days for him to fall head over heels for his darling.
  Delusional level (0-10):
10, he is heavily delusional to the point that nothing can really bring him out of it. (Not even his best bro.)
How will do they hide their yandere side:
Although he doesn't hide his yandere side it could be hard to see the signs clearly other than him having a little crush.
  Danger level (0-10):
5, if nothing too drastic happens he is easy to handle but if something does happen, he will do everything in his power to keep them with him even if it means he must hurt someone. He will be in too much of a panic to think straight meaning that things can get pretty…. messy.

Redrew an old sketch doodle I did of him, and then spent a lot of time on. I have more Akudama doodles but I've been busy, but soon I’ll upload more. 😭👌
Hoodlum would not be calm after his nose bled (especially if from an injury) but he wants to look cool, so I’ll give him that. 😂
Not much context besides me wanting to draw him cool since I typically draw him anxious or smug. ^^ (Small easter egg but I think everyone will notice it immediately lol)

Burning Embers (Courier and Hoodlum Interaction)
Warnings: Cigarettes.
Anonymous Request: How does this sound?
Hello! I read how you like to write about characters that had little interaction together and I love writing and thinking about that too!
If it's alright, could I ask for an scene or interaction between Hoodlum and Courier? Anything is fine! I just think they could be friends, or as friendly as they can be with each other, lol. (Considering Courier doesn't get annoyed with Hoodlum at times, too.)
.
.
.
“Got a cigarette?”
Courier cast a glance at his side, somewhat surprised by Hoodlum approaching him of all people. The gangster’s footsteps had been noticeable—in fact, Hoodlum’s footsteps were a lot louder than what was strictly necessary—but Courier had paid him no mind in the beginning. Now, though, the blond stood at his side, an uneasy smile lifting the corners of his lips and stretching out his cheeks. While he wasn’t a person to judge a person solely on their looks, Courier couldn’t help but feel Hoodlum would have been more attractive if his hair wasn’t slicked into an obnoxious pompadour. The suit and glasses were fine, though.
As the older man searched his pockets for another cigarette, Hoodlum took up residence at his side, his head turned towards the sky. Above them, the sky was dark, but glowed with the effects of light pollution. Scientists said that the sky was originally so dark, so black, that you could see the heavenly bodies floating in the sky. Stars. As a native of Kansai, Hoodlum had never had the chance to leave and see if the sky could be different outside the city.
A part of him wanted to believe that it was true; he wanted to believe that there were stars up above them even if down below, all he could see was the ever present smog and orange light emitting from high rise buildings and dumpster fires.
Metallic fingers entered his vision, the sight of which brought Hoodlum down to earth.
“Thanks.” He fumbled for a second before looking at Courier again, a bashfulness on his face that would have earned him mockery from the others. After extending his hand, cigarette grasped firmly between two fingers, Courier was quick to flash open his lighter and light up Hoodlum’s cigarette. As the ember glowed to life with an intensity and flare that rivaled the smog and light pollution in the sky, Hoodlum took a drag, savoring the sweet, cloying scent of nicotine.
Tilting his head up, Hoodlum closed his eyes, held in his breath for a second longer than he had to, and finally breathed out the chemicals. Almost instantly, he could feel the stresses and fears that he had encountered only mere hours ago dissipate into the night sky.
“You’re more experienced than I thought.”
Hoodlum’s eyes popped open in surprise.
The whiplash from turning to look at Courier in shock nearly gave him a crick in the neck, but Hoodlum could care less about that. Instead, he asked, eyes wide and mouth agape, “You can talk?”
Courier gave him an unimpressed look to which Hoodlum realized, yes, he did just ask that when he should have said—
“I know you can talk! I just—!” Hoodlum raked a finger through his pompadour, somehow not messing up his hairstyle in the process. “I just didn’t expect to hear you talk to me! You’re so—” The younger man made swirling motions with his hands, as if he was a wizard casting a spell. “—mysterious, you know?”
Courier sighed, the sound loud enough to halt Hoodlum’s thoughts in its tracks, but it didn’t hold a tone of irritation or disgust. Rather, it was just a sound that came out of Courier’s mouth that did not need further explanation. It simply was.
“And what do you mean I’m more experienced than you thought?”
Courier rolled his eyes heavenward before knocking off the excess ash from the filter of the cigarette. “Anyone with a pair of eyes and an ounce of common sense can see that you’re playing a role, but never playing it right.”
Hoodlum startled at that. It was to be expected that Courier would probably be more observant than most—as a courier, he would have to be. Spending most of his nights dealing with the dirtiest low lives from the underground for hefty sums would sharpen anyone’s wits. Still, though, Hoodlum felt a stab of anger coat the back of his throat and redden his ears.
After hearing Courier’s explanation, Brawler came to mind. Even though Courier made no inclination that he was insulting the dreadlocked man specifically, what little loyalty Hoodlum had was somewhat attached to the much bigger man. It shouldn’t matter, but it did.
Hoodlum cast that thought aside.
Guilt followed in the wake of such an action, but he carried on.
“Well,” Hoodlum let his cigarette hang out the side of his mouth, which bobbed up and down each time he spoke, “what are you going to do about it?”
Even to Hoodlum’s ears, he sounded resigned. It was far too late for the group to let him go and even if they could, Hoodlum didn’t want to risk detonating the bomb that choked his neck. Fighting back wouldn’t get him far. Even if Hoodlum had a chance of landing a punch, Courier was well equipped and he wasn’t rumored to take insults lying down.
In silence, the blond braced himself for the worst.
And then—
“I’ll probably charge you for the cigarette, but something tells me that you’re a little short on money.”
This time, when Hoodlum gaped, the cigarette fell out of his mouth, the glowing orange embers flaring brightly for a brief second upon descent before burning itself out into smoke. At his feet, the cigarette smoldered. Forgotten.
“You can joke too?”
Courier shrugged before proffering another cigarette to Hoodlum.
“I can also be nice.”
For a moment, Hoodlum thought about firing another witty (well, he thought he was being clever) comment, but decided to remain silent. Taking the offering for what it was, the faux gangster allowed the cigarette to be lit and gently placed it in his mouth.
The warmth from the cigarette paled in comparison to the warmth of companionship.
Up above, if Hoodlum squinted, he could almost trick himself into believing that he could see stars ensconced in putrid smoke and amber lights.

If it's okay, Brawler for the characters thoughts bingo thing? (Maybe Hoodlum too, if that's okay, I feel like you have something funny to say about him for some reason.)
I didn't expect to get more requests for this and I appreciate those!! Also, let me tell you right away - I didn't end up clicking with a lot of what was suggested in the bingo for these characters, but that doesn't mean I don't have a lot of Thoughts about them. Or that I don't care about them. I do. A lot.
Tumblr media
For some reason I can't post the pictures side by side so I'll write about Brawler first and post the Hoodlum bingo next.
Brawler:
• They are soooooo cool looking & wow... they are LITERALLY me! : Yes I put those two together ahdksdkk bEAR WITH ME, Brawler. Strong man. Beautiful man. Pretty palette. Strong man. Dumb man. Long hair. Sort of my type. A few of my types. If you know you know. /ij So yes, he is absolutely cool looking, I have a few screencaps of him I kept "just in case I want to draw him", and I did draw him early on (he might be the first AD character I drew? It was a screencap redraw I was pretty happy with.). As for the second part... That's uh, a joke I still remember and sometimes reference, that I made on the Reddit-Discord server at the time, lol. I kept joking that they were making a live-action Akudama Drive adaptation and that I was going to portray Brawler. The joke is that I was the token short-hair woman, so Brawler wasn't the character anyone wanted me to claim... and also that I like claiming I am EXTREMELY jacked when I'm obviously not quite there yet. (I'm getting there.) So yeah, Brawler is #goals. And no, they didn't contact me for the stage adaptation. :(
• Wasted potential This one... There's probably a lot to say that I'm not equipped to explain right now. Hell I'm still mourning his death right now!!! There is something frustrating, on its own, about his early death. There is no doubt in my mind that his arc was over by this point - he was always written to die first. And in my opinion, that's what puts a limitation on his writing as well. He was a strong personality and could have had a lot more, interesting interactions with his surroundings, but he was instead written to be sent to death early. And then... During these last couple years, I have been facing my own biases and ignorance, and have started to understand a lot more about the deeper issues within Kodaka's (among others) racist writing. Looking into what is still his biggest work to date, Danganronpa, it's easy to notice inherent biases that repeatedly come up in his writing, that appear underneath Brawler's representation as well. For this reason, my belief is that Brawler could have been given a lot more potential if it weren't for his creators' inherent racist biases. The disappointment of seeing the classic and extremely obvious trope of the one dark-skinned character dying first is the final nail in the coffin, and once again, takes away from the viewer's potential enjoyment of Brawler as a character.
• If they were real I would be afraid of them Jokes aside he could absolutely kick my ass. And I don't trust him not to.
• If they were real I would marry them & the handbag thing I think those speak for themselves.
I would say this sums up my main thoughts about Brawler. He is hot and dumb and I am a morosexual, so I definitely appreciated him. And miss him. He deserved better.
Tumblr media
Hoodlum:
Like I said, I wasn't particularly inspired by these prompts when it comes to Hoodlum.
• Why do they look like that I mean, I HAVE to ask that, right? ヽ(*。>Д<)o゜ His hair and face are on point, but the outfit? The colours? Oh honey. And WHY IS HE RIPPED. SERIOUSLY IT DOES NOT MAKE SENSE. It's that "I look skinnier wearing clothes" joke from Angel Beats! all over again. What the hELL
• They work better as part of a dynamic I'm not the one saying that - the story is the one saying that. Doctor is the one saying that. She points it out correctly: Hoodlum needs someone to hide behind, and will use whatever means to get to that place. He will lie to someone like Brawler, he will obey to someone like Doctor. He, himself, mentions searching for someone to use early on - first Brawler, then Cutthroat, though at that point he can't help but defend Brawler, because you know, feelings. Not that he isn't efficient enough on his own. I fully see and believe that he is - but he's the one who doesn't! During the events of Akudama Drive, he was at a point where he couldn't help but be like that... and then he died, so it kinda ends there.
• wow... they are LITERALLY me! Like I said, I am a proud morosexual. (It's pride month after all! /j) I fully identify with Hoodlum's crush on Brawler. He is 100% me in that regard. Ψ( ̄∀ ̄)Ψ The colour I use for my username on the Wiki was his role colour on that one server - and I use his flair with the text "morosexual" on the Akudama Drive subreddit. (✿◕‿◕✿)
With all that being said - I love Hoodlum and I believe that he is one of the characters whose arc was the most satisfying and well-rounded, when many shortcuts were taken for other characters in the anime. He's probably one of the deaths I'm most upset about? I'm not necessarily satisfied about the fact that all the Akudama had to die, I think it was a bit... overkill... and if I had to revive someone, Hoodlum would be one of my options. [Trying my hardest not to start talking about my other option because this is not about them,] His death wasn't fully unsatisfying, it made sense, I was glad Doctor died the way she did, I was glad he stood up for Brawler, but... Did he have to die? Did we gain much from that? Like, Junior survived in the Director's Cut, so my boy Hoodlum could have survived his injuries in a similar fashion. You know. Be weak, be flawed, but keep on living. He's such a well-rounded character and right as he died, he was learning so much about himself and his way of living. I could go on lol

Could I request the Akudamas with a Reader who’s like Nanno from Girl From Nowhere? so there’s information on the wiki which I suggest reading but the reader is a mysterious person who isn’t human and pretends to be a 11th grader student and she has multiple super powers to get at people (her enemies) and maybe you can have them react when the reader gets killed but they survives (bc their immortal) and they comes back alive and there’s multiple clones of them?
Honestly you should watch the show if you’d like, it’s super interesting like seriously 😭😭 THANK YOUU!!

Akudama Drive x Nanno! Reader
Tumblr media
You met her when the group all showed up at the police station right where one of your close friends was on the verge of being. You weren't shocked to see some others there, but when seeing the new girl it became rather strange, especially when she declared herself as the swindler. It was clear to see that she was lying, but you kept that to yourself and let the girl tag along as the group was now given a new mission.
You didn't talk much until your guy's hotel room was attacked by the executioner and his pupil, leading to the group needing to make some quick moves. You dogged all of the bullets being shot at you, making sure to spin around and grab Swindler and Hoodlum, dragging the two of them to the ground behind a couch.
"Stay here!" You growled, jumping back out. Swindler widened her eyes, "What are you doing?"
"Don't worry about it," You muttered, lunging at the girl while the others took care of the executioner. You fought against her, stopping all of her attacks with ease being ten times faster than her, but things began to slow down when Swindler stepped out from the couch. You glared, "What are you doing?"
"Helping!" Swindler stated, right as the sound of more were heard now aimed right at her. Kicking the girl back, you rushed over towards her standing in front of her, blocking all of the metal being shot at her. Swindler screamed, "No!"
Dropping to her knees, Swindler checked your pulse seeing a bunch of red liquid, leaking out of your body creating a pool of blood around the two of them. Tears peeked her eyes when seeing someone who tried to protect her dead because of a silly action she made. Swindler siffled, "No…"
"Bring them over here." Doctor ordered, dragging your body towards her. Hoodlum widened his eyes. "What are you going to do to them?"
"I'm going to stop the bleeding g, now keep an eye out before we all end up just like them," Doctor grumbled. Grabbing some materials, Doctor went to begin the procedure and stop all of the - when breathing could be heard from your body. Doctor had a confused look, "What the...:
"Those damn bastards," You muttered, rubbing your head. Fluttering your eyes opened, you glanced around seeing the two still there with the others trying their hardest to deal with them. You shook your head. sitting up from the ground. "We can't keep going at this. Brawler! You think you can find us something to get out of here?"
Of course," Brawler smirked, breaking the room's wall and jumping out towards one of the ongoing transportations. Swindler shivered, "How are you… alive?"
"Don't worry about it, for now just hold on," You signed, grabbing her and the brown haired boy before jumping out after Brawler. That began the high amount of questions about how you were able to survive…
Swindler:
Many questions went through her head at your survival, but she felt more guilt instead knowing that your pain was from her doing. When the group was safe, Swindler definitely went to check up on your wounds, but was overly shocked when seeing none of them there anymore.
When hearing your explanation, things were so confusing, but she still had more questions as to how you were able to heal so quickly? And if there was anything that could make you die, sadly you didn't answer any of them, keeping them all to yourself.
Was shocked when seeing your once again and instead of coming back alive, another version of yourself appeared looking identical to your dead form on the ground. She didn't ask anymore questions barley even understanding her own thoughts now that nothing felt real.
Hoodlum:
All he felt was fear not wanting to die him self, but when his eyes landed on your gruesome body he wanted to throw up everything that was inside of him. He kept imagining himself in your position seeing the bullets inside his body and all of the blood pooling around him.
He was even more afraid when finding out the truth about what you were. He made sure to stay a couple of inches further, not wanting to come anywhere close to your wrath. He was the most scared when learning that there could be multiple of you, meaning that there could be multiple creatures around him.
Brawler:
He didn't see the happen since he was busy fighting himself, but when he turned, hearing your orders, he didn't ignore the blood soaked into your clothes. You could feel his gaze when following him onto the transportation, but it always went away when meeting his eyes.
He thought it was cool when you told the truth about your abilities, he also liked when your clone appeared thinking of it as a cool game. He doesn't get that all of this is real and that your first body was dead and that your clone was now taking your place. No one has the guts to tell him that you were actually dead and that the clone you wasn't the real you.
Cutthroat:
You met him before meeting the other Akudamas, working with him on a mission that required the two of you to be partners. After that mission, the two of you became inseparable and began working together on most projects, which makes sense now why you were at the station in the first place.
He didn't know how to feel when learning you couldn't actually die, but thought it would be a good choice to keep you around in case you actually did and he could see your bleeding body or hopefully be the one to kill you and see you bleed your beautiful red.
Doctor:
Confused when seeing your body heal on its own before she even had her hands on any of your wounds. She didn't know how to feel when seeing your body react differently from anything she's ever seen before.
When the truth came out, she was amused and wanted to do multiple tests and find out how your body reacted the way it did. Sadly, you refused to let her try anything and avoided all of her advances not wanting your body being tested on, especially from someone like her.
Courier:
Found out later when you told the truth to everyone and he didn't really react, not surprised by your strange abilities. You didn't affect him much and once the mission ended all eight of you would never talk again.
Things changed when he was driving off on his bike with you and the siblings behind him. He went over all of the memories that wese shared with the other akudamas and he realized how happy he was with all of them. He was proud that someone like you was taking the kids and would be looking after them. He knew now that the kids would be safe and wouldn't have to hide in fear.
Your point of view:
You didn't mind telling them about your powers not thinking much of them since it was likely that all of them would be once the mission was over, but much like Courier your feelings changed. When running off towards the mountains with the two children, tears streamed down your eyes when remembering all of the moments with the group and for once you wished that you actually died, then maybe you could have been with them..

A/n - Thank you for the request Joey and hope this isn't to bad! I also am happy to say I started Girl From Nowhere and I love it!

Team-ups: Brawler & Hoodlum
Best of the yandere bros
Both are heavily delusional although brawler is much deeper in his delusion then hoodlum is.
It's easy for their darling to get away from them however they always end up finding them. (It's pure dumb luck on their part.)
They both are clingy and protective to the point of smothering.
Both are really that bloody given that hoodlum would only kill in a panic and brawler will…it doesn't happen often enough just to those he sees as challengers. (
Anyone who tried to get with their darling.)
Much like with other pairings that hoodlum is in, brawler is stuck doing most of the work; however, it's only with this pair that he does help a lot more. (Example: actually, talking out plans instead of just doing whatever the other says.)
They have the fastest time when it comes to taking their darling.
Going back to how easy it is to get away from them, it's mainly due to their delusions that puts their full trust in their darling. So, if their darling says they will be back then they wholeheartedly believe they will return.
However, over time hoodlum will start to notice that their darling won't always mean to return which makes him not want them to go alone.
In the end this is one of the easiest pairs to handle for the most part. They mean no harm to their darling so if they play their cards right, they really don't have to worry about much.

Eye for Eye (Pupil Executioner and Hoodlum Interaction)
Warnings: Major character death, violence, mentions of gore.
Anonymous Request: If it's not much, could you do an interaction between Hoodlum and Pupil? I know it sounds weird but I thought it would be an interesting dynamic because of what Hoodlum did to her eye and Pupil showing resentment when she sees him again later.
Whatever you think is fun or interesting to write!
I hope this isn't too vague asking. ^^;
.
.
.
It’s not until the aftermath of the mounting rebellion of all of the proclaimed Akudama in the streets that Pupil finally has some time to herself. The city of Kansai had always been corrupt, but it was a dirty blight that was carefully balanced between the fine line of status quo and tradition. Akudama were free to roam so long as they didn’t get caught and didn’t grab the attention of the Executioners. Similarly, Executioners weren’t expected to round up Akudamas at will unless they were summoned by the Chief or if the police force wasn’t enough.
That night, when Swindler had broadcasted everything for the entire city to see, Kansai had exploded with a fury that had been festering from generations of resentment and oppression. It had taken the police force, the Executioners, and the government to try and stem the flow of violence. Blood dripped steadily on the pavement, bodies lay prone on the street, and Pupil felt her heart grow heavy when she took a glance at how many of her colleagues that she had lost.
Even her subordinate, the Junior Executioner, could no longer look upon the world with a naive and nervous gaze that he had sported only days prior. Now, he was haunted. Paranoid that there was going to be another rebellion on the horizon.
(A lot could change, especially after getting shot in the chest by a little girl).
Now that the city was relatively silent, dead, Pupil could see why.
Stores were ransacked. Men and women wearing masks or bearing weapons roamed the streets. Young children who should have never borne witness to the evils and tragedies of their elders, hid away and fell through the cracks of society.
All of them, for better or for worse, were Akudama.
But what made her so different?
As Pupil made her way through the streets, her Junior trailing behind, she kept her eyes facing forward. All of this destruction because one young woman could not turn a blind eye to two children’s suffering. It was commendable, but the way Kansai was floundering in the mess of their own creation spoke otherwise. As Pupil was about to head back to headquarters, head swimming with nausea and uniform bloodied from previous confrontations and attempts to aid civilians, she received a message on her communicator.
A casual glance told her all that she needed to know.
She was requested to identify several corpses that littered the area around the Kansai Station. The crowd that had surged through the station had ultimately culminated in several tragedies. The mob had crushed to death some people, and had injured countless others. Whether it was because the crowd had been consumed with the need to leave on the Shinkansen or if they had knowingly trampled others, the result was still the same.
People had died and no one seemed to care.
It was a chilling thought.
What makes an Akudama?
What makes an Executioner?
Who is a civilian and who is a threat?
As Pupil gestured for her subordinate to check along the tracks, she meandered through the tunnel, her eye searching the victims and matching descriptions in the Kasai Central Information Bureau database. As she and a team of other executioners and members of the police force were busy going through the bodies, she caught sight of a familiar suit and pompadour.
Mood souring, Pupil immediately categorized an elderly man from one of the richer districts in Kansai as deceased before heading over to one of the most pathetic Akudama that she had ever seen.
With every step that she had taken, Pupil made her way to Hoodlum. A cursory glance from her scanner revealed his true name, his age, and various other information that made up his person. He had only been punished with a few years imprisonment, but had knowingly surrounded himself with some of the most terrible people in Kansai.
Self-serving he may be, he was doing it to survive. Pupil was focused on other matters at hand, but she had heard Swindler and Hoodlum while all of their lives were held in the balance while Doctor held the strings.
No one should have died.
It was all needless.
Pupil bent down, her lone eye narrowing as she carefully moved Hoodlum so that he could lay on his back. His neck was slashed, the blood long since congealed and darkened. The young Executioner brushed her fingers against his pompadour and down to his glasses.
Stupid.
Pathetic.
Yet—
Even Pupil could see that he was brave and loyal to that other brute, Brawler. Even if the both of them were Akudama, Pupil knew that their bond was closer than what she had expected from people like them. Their bond was so strong, so impactful… it reminded her of the bond that she had shared with her Master.
Once upon a time, she had looked up to him for guidance and he had delivered. Their bond had been insurmountable: she had thought that she would surpass him one day with him retiring.
She hadn’t expected him to die in the line of duty.
Those damn Akudamas…
For a brief moment, she considered taking out her weapon and slashing Hoodlum’s eye with it. It was only fair, right? In a world that was rapidly devolving into chaos, she sought control from what she was able. Her hand approached the hilt of her weapon before she stilled.
No.
He was already dead.
That was more than enough payment for the loss of her eye.
Her fingers flew over her pad, marking him as deceased.
Pupil sent him one last glance before moving onto the next victim of such senseless slaughter.

(Masterpost)
Rules: - Vote for one of these two characters based on who you personally think should win. It can be anything from "I follow aseriesofunfortunatejan and she talks about this character way more" to "I know this guy and not the other guy" passing by "who are these? This one's hotter" and of course "holy shit this is ALSO my blorbo" - You may reblog this poll and you may even talk about why you voted for who you voted! - You may NOT complain about the other character if you dislike them! These characters are all the poll runner's beloveds and the goal of this tournament is to have fun, be silly, be nice, eat hot chip.
Introductions and propaganda (under the cut):
It feels weird writing propaganda for the two Akudama Drive options when this is going to be in the Akudama Drive tag, which already has a lot of me and my opinions...
Courier is my babygirl :) Weeeee! His important role in Akudama Drive makes him an unforgettable character. Although I was convinced I was going to dislike him when I started watching the anime, he turned out extremely lovable... somehow because there's something so earnest about him. Despite the role he plays in the story and the importance of his relationship to women, his writing is devoid of romance and that's a huge appeal to me
Hoodlum is my baby boy :) Hehe I immediately imprinted on him for being a morosexual. Despite his lacklustre... everything, initially, Hoodlum becomes an extremely engaging character whose feelings and growth are at the forefront despite his not being the protagonist. He is extremely endearing and I like how he's 23
Alright Akudama Drive girlies. do your thing
And if you're not an Akudama Drive girlie - please for the love of God watch Akudama Drive! I'm not just blorbifying these guys - I genuinely recommend this extremely engaging anime.
