On a Silver Night

Content/Warnings: angst, gore, blood/injury, abuse/child abuse, death, Dazai being a bastard, lmk if I missed anything

For as long as you can remember, Ryūnosuke was always protecting you and gin, as if you two are the thing he lives for. which you both are at this point He has always tried his hardest to defend you, gin, and the other children from thieves and abusive adults, he didn’t do it to be righteous, nor did he do it to feel better about himself, he just did. At least, that’s what you thought, it was hard deciphering his intent because everything he did, he did with the same, emotionless stare. People would always mention this fact. Even when he was killing, stealing, or when you found some food or someone told a joke, he always had the same blank expression. You thought it was funny sometimes though he never once showed any emotion, that didn’t matter to you, his actions spoke clearer than any words could.

Like when he would sometimes hug you and gin to keep you warm during cold nights, when he found food he would share it with the two of you first. And if anyone dared to threaten or try to hurt any of you they would be dead in an instant by Rashōmon’s sharp fangs. Yes, his facial expressions didn’t matter, he was trying his hardest to keep you and Gin from experiencing the harsh cruelty of the word, but he was still just a boy himself. There wasn’t much a malnourished and frail child could do, yet he persisted, despite how many times he’d fallen. You looked up to him and had a deep respect for him because of this.

Even though it was a horrible situation all of you were living in, you were happy just to be with your older brother, sister and the other children. Among all the other children, You, Gin and Ryūnosuke were the ones you were closest to.

Until that fateful day, when a group of criminals murdered all the other children in cold blood, leaving You and Gin injured, and Ryūnosuke thirsty for blood.

Gin had helped Akutagawa escape but you three got separated amidst the chaos and confusion, you held Gin’s hand tightly as you two ran and ran until you two were exhausted, collapsing onto the damp, cold ground. The air was foggy and cold, the night dark while the moon illuminated your surroundings with a silver light. After a few minutes of struggling to catch your breath you got up from the dirty ground and remembered only Gin was with you, Ryūnosuke had ran off in search of the criminals who killed your friends. Fear and panic shot through your body, terrified that Ryū was going to get himself killed.

“G-gin! W-we have to find Ryū!” You said to Gin in a rushed shaky voice. She swiftly nodded.

You two began running, this time slower due to how tired you both were. You were heading in the direction of where the shipment was said to be taking place.

“Gin! I think we’re almost there—“ you stopped when you saw a tall man walking in your direction with a shorter person. The shorter person had a black coat draped over his shoulders, the man seemed to be waking directly to you now, a smile on his face.

“Be careful Gin.. s-stand behind me..” you got in front of Gin just in case, until you realized the shorter person was Ryūnosuke, his eyes were slightly puffy and tearful, he had been crying. your heart dropping at the sight. Immediately you throw yourself at Ryū pulling him away from the mysterious man

“Just who are you and what are you doing with my big brother?!” You frantically yell at the man, hiding Ryū and Gin behind you

The man glares at you with boredom in his face, as if this was all nothing to him, but then he started to smirk slightly “Brother? Oh, I knew Akutagawa had a sister but I didn’t know he had another sibling. What’s your name?” He said with a mischievous face, He reached out his hand to seemingly pat your head but you smacked it away immediately, surprising him a bit “you didn’t answer my question-“ you felt a hand on your shoulder and turned around “Y/n…cough it’s okay..you don’t have to worry..” Ryū weakly said to you. Your heart ached at the sight of his bloodied and bruised face, looking down you can see he has bloody scratches on his knees, arms and legs, his entire body was hurt.

“Hm? Oh, right! Sorry about that! Where are my manners?” He said rather loudly “My name is Dazai Osamu, I just got promoted to a Mafia Executive today, Which means, I now have the authority to do certain things. like taking anyone as my subordinate, and your brother here has accepted my offer.” Dazai said soft-spoken yet somehow overbearing with a kind smile that didn’t reach his eyes. You were confused by the man’s statement, many thoughts ran through your mind;

“Would Ryūnosuke really agree to join the mafia? Especially join through this guy? How would we be guaranteed safety? What if this is just a trap to exploit Ryū’s ability? What if he kills us?”

You were pulled out of your thoughts by a dangerous, slightly condescending soft voice “you don’t have to worry, if i wanted you dead, I would have done so the second I laid eyes on you.” He said to you, it’s as if he read your mind. He was staring into your eyes as you stared back, his eyes void of any emotion, much like your brother’s, except you found a deep cruelness to them, it terrified you.

“Well, it was just gonna be Akutagawa here and his sister, but I can make arrangements, just for you.” His eyes went back to a neutral state “I promise,” he puts his hand on his chest “that the three of you will be fed, clothed, housed and compensated accordingly, as long as you work under me, no one else in the mafia will dare harm you.” Dazai reached his hand out to you, a sweet smile on his face

“so Y/n, do we have a deal?”

might be getting the timeline wrong but maybe 16!chuuya wouldnt like 22!chuuya because 16!chuuya wasnt vv loyal to the mafia at first (unless that was at 15, not 16)l, sry i Cannot Remember) but 22!chuuya is very loyal and everything. also maybe chuuya also didnt like the idea of being an executive, like the responsibility, aka one step down from leadership (were we ever told when chuuya became an exec? if so, i Cannot Remember once again)

well it goes from 16yo not really wanting to being in the mafia -> 22 having accepted the mafia is his home now. From what we've seen from him at 22 he's really grown INTO that position. He acts lot more cocky and smug, more confident etc. He's more materialistic, fancy clothes fancy wine in a way that 16 chuuya wasn't. I think i was specifically mentioned in SB that chuuya was wearing expensive clothes and living in an expensive apartment complex, but his place is plain and empty and his clothes are just the standard mafia uniform (like higuchi's or all the other nameless grunts).

From what we know from the Drama CDs he encourages Akutagawa to take a rest and take care of himself. This is a sentiement he doesnt apply to himself back in SB. He ALSO seems to be oblivious or in denial abt Dazai's training of Akutagawa and tries to justify Dazai's reasoning. We know he goes with Mori's plans without questioning anything, we know he's perfectly down to kill Q bc of his team dying. We see that he still care abt and acts friendly (in chuuya standards lol) with all his fellow mafiosos.

We know that he doesn't seem to like that Dazai is being more virtuous now. I think this is a situation of him once again expressing self insecurity in the veins of "we were both monsters. But Dazai's a good person now, so what the hell does that make me?"

Here's what i think: despite being an incredibly selfless person, chuuya is still really selfish. He's always had his immense power but noww he has money AND status, so he might as well have fun with that. Even if by the end it goes against his base principals. Even if this wasnt really the way he wanted his life to turn out. AND i think he's not willing to change yet because that will ruin this fragile state of stability he's gotten. Change is painful and he'd rather not do pain, thanks.

also! Chuuya had to be promoted to executive AFTER Dazai had left. In the SB epilogue he's gone to meet his bio-parents with Higuchi and Akutagawa. This information from the past would have only been given to him AFTER the executive promotion, and considering Higuchi joined after Dazai was already gone, THAT's where i think that point falls in the timeline

I need help crafting head canons and backstories for a BSD au I'm creating

I'm working on making head canons for a normal world no mafia no Ada or whatever au. For the most part I'm trying to take canon events and adapt them in a way where they could realistically happen, but for characters with more unknown or vague pasts I'm great for any HCs

Starting with Dazai, Dazai is not an orphan he was removed from his home by CPS when he was about 2. He was in the foster care system for a while, tossed around until he ended up in a home with Mori from ages 9-16. Mori was abusive, so Dazai ran away and lived in a shipping crate for a bit. Eventually he was taken in by Oda, who was a foster parent to mostly younger kids. He was there for 6 months but when he was out with Oda, Oda was killed in a mass shooting.

I know Dazai "improved" in canon after Oda died but I didn't give him a chance for this big long speech and there wasn't any reason for Oda to anyways, so Dazai completely spiraled after that. I have like a whole story written about that. But short things is his alcohol addiction got worse, he often spent days just not moving from Oda's grave and since you see him inject himself in season 5 and pop a pill in season 2, I have him experiment with drugs like fenty, shrooms, and heroin. Not addicted, just trying them out. Dazai is my most fleshed out in the au I'm creating, idk why.

Dazai bullies Akutagawa in school because of course he does.

Now for Chuuya I haven't finished stormbringer so my HCs for him might change. But.

He was also in foster care. I haven't fully fleshed out his life yet and I want some ways to integrate the sheep some how? But he entered the system when he was 8, I don't know why because I haven't finished storrmbringer. It varies from Verlaine killing his parents to them dying in a car crash so. Working on that. Verlaine went to a different home from Chuuya, he doesn't know him well he just hates him. I've been debating between having Kouyou be his sister or foster mother, but since I put Dazai with Mori I figured Chuuya could go with Kouyou and she'd just be a younger foster mom. I was also thinking I could find a way to make them in the same house? I really want the whole betrayal thing where Dazai leaves Chuuya and I thought it could be cool where Dazai left Chuuya in an abusive home to deal with it himself but I'm not sure, would it even make sense for him to have been with Mori?

Chuuya is in college, Dazai is struggling to get by. They still have their personalities obv so Dazai isn't like this sad mopey mess he's just a sad mess who mopes when he's alone and everyone doesn't really realize where he's at mentally

Mori has also fostered Yosano and Q, while having Elise as his bio daughter.

Atsushi and Lucy's backstories are basically the exact same as they are in canon

Akutagawa is homeless ofc, he just moves from place to place with his sister. His clothes are shit and he smells because he never showers so he isn't treated well at school. I'm tryna think if he'd go to college, also he's still got his terminal illness. I'm not sure how his need for Dazai's validation would come out in this au

Ranpo was adopted by Fukuzawa. His life was also basically the same. Yosano was also adopted by him.

I'm thinking Kunikida has a normal ass life with normal ass parents, just too much of an overachiever and on the verge of burnout but not allowing himself to burn out

Poe is rich. He was born rich, he's got money, that's all. I've got for him lol.

I'm trying to find ways to add the rest of the cast, I want to get all the characters in and get them lives and stuff made up.

If you have any suggestions to how I can expand this world I want to write fan fiction on it once I've fleshed it out a bit. Feel free to be like "actually no I dont like your idea, I think this would be better" because I'm open to any criticism on this, I just want it to be good and I'm not stuck on my ideas

im so sad i wrote like a short thing and im never gonna be able to use it because it doesnt fit with the story

context: chuuya seeing his bio parents, but expanded

For all of Mori’s faults, he’s never done anything to harm the organisation.

Manipulation, torture, murder, extortion, Mori’s done all and more. He’s a good boss for the Mafia, and Chuuya respects him as a leader.

There is a fondness in their dynamic, something that may have started when Chuuya, as an unsure teen, had asked with uncharacteristic vulnerability just what made a good leader.

He’s never forgotten Mori’s answer.

Mori never betrayed Chuuya personally. Not in a way that mattered. Still, Chuuya’s a valuable tool, and although Mori never doubted his loyalty, Chuuya wasn’t exempt from temptations.

This is a test, he realises, staring at the couple from his hiding place.

They look happy, sharing the persimmon. Content. It had taken years to find them. Chuuya doesn’t have regrets, but he does wonder, in the quietest of nights, what life may have been like if he hadn’t been stolen.

He stares at the pencil lead scar on his wrist, and he looks away- to the sky, the cars, the buildings.

It feels like digging another grave. For a child- a younger one. One that must have loved his parents enough to fight a kid four years older armed with a sharp pencil.

The couple goes in, and Chuuya doesn’t feel anything apart from a dull sense of apathy and an odd sort of longing that didn’t belong to him. Not really. He thinks of Kouyou- of etiquette lessons, tea and sparring. He thinks of the flags- six feet underground but so very vibrant and stupid in life. He thinks of the Akutagawas- careful kindness hidden under a lifetime of trauma.

“The Port Mafia is my family now,” he tells his leader, and he means it.

Before heading back, he buys himself a persimmon.

BSD College band AU

Look i have so many au ideas that im not prepared to write but i think theyre cool so theyre going on here anyways heres one brief outline of a band au thats been floating around my head for the past few days:

-Dazai Osamu, lit major. He starts a band with his sister Yosano (pry the sibling dynamic from my cold dead hands i dare u). He's perfectionistic and controlling since this is his dream, and isn't ever happy with the suggestions that Yosano makes for members of the band. He's the lyricist of the band, and plays guitar and piano. He was a piano prodigy as a kid, being forced to compete by their foster father Mori when he was young, but always preferred guitar. He's the rhythm guitarist. He's obsessive over music and will neglect his own health over the band (he almost always is sleep deprived and has bandages over his hands from overplaying the piano and guitar until his fingers would bleed)

-Yosano Akiko, bio major, she helps Dazai start the band. She plays violin classically but was the one to teach Dazai guitar when they were kids since she rebelled against Mori. Now she plays bass guitar. She does vocals occasionally, depending on what Dazai's vision is with the lyrics.

-Atsushi Nakajima, a down on his luck 3rd year in high school who just got kicked out by his foster parents after he turned 18. He played guitar as a kid and is a prodigy. He met Dazai one night after he tried to kill himself bc college sucks, and Dazai sees his guitar case, since Atsushi was busking at the time to pay for a hotel room, and is asked to join the band. Atsushi agrees bc why not, and Dazai lets him move in with him since he doesn't live in dorms (him and Yosano have their own place) He's the lead guitarist in the band.

-Ranpo Edogawa, Yosano's best friend and a criminology major. He has nothing to do with the band, but he's their biggest supporter. He works at a cafe alongside Poe, where the band frequently plays since Ranpo convinced the owner (Fukuzawa) to let them play there.

-Akutagawa Ryuunosuke and Gin, high school students and friends of Atsushi. Atsushi recommends him to Dazai who begrudgingly lets them join the band (Gin is their sound tech, and Higuchi later joins to become their manager) They compete over who gets Dazai's validation since they both look up to him (which dazai is like literally why. you should not be doing that Yosano is gonna kill me) He plays bass alongside Yosano. (also side sskk bc slay)

-Kouyou Ozaki, sociology major, she meets Yosano at a party where she sings karaoke and Yosano decides that she wants Kouyou to be their vocalist. She initially refuses since she's busy with college stuff, but introduces Yosano to her friend Verlaine (a psychology major), who's adoptive brother Chuuya is a drummer, and is looking to join a band. Later they make a deal that if Yosano can convince Chuuya to join she will too. Which miraculously does happen. Kouyou is their main vocalist.

-Nakahara Chuuya, lit major. He plays drums and guitar. He used to be in a band in highschool that got fairly popular with his childhood friends called "The flags". The band split up when they all went to different colleges though. He is in Dazai's lit class and they have a rivalry. Yosano asks him to join the band and chuuya refuses bc he HATES DAZAI. They do not get on WHATSOEVER. But after a lot of bickering and fighting Dazai gives in and lets him join (he says its bc he wanted Kouyou on board, but doesnt mention how he saw Chuuya playing his songs solo at a open mic at a bar nearby and was mesmerized) They eventually become friends. Chuuya is their main drummer but helps with lyrics sometimes. (bc i need soukoku writing songs together pls)

-The two other main bands are the hunting dogs (consisting of Teruko, Jouno, tetchou and Tachihara, except Tachihara's brother is the leader instead of Fukuchi bc i actually dont care about him sorry), and the decay of angels (but its just the russians lmao its just sigma nikolai and fyodor and sigma is sick of their shit)

-Dazai knew of the flags before and liked their music but is unaware that Chuuya is the same person that was in the flags.

-He falls for chuuya first and hard. (also making dazai ace bc #slay ace world domination) and chuuya also likes dazai but is like unsure of whether its reciprocated, and since both are shit at feelings its just pain as everyone else has to watch them pine over each other for like months.

-Kousano bc slay band lesbians <3 Yosano is very vocal about her love for Kouyou and is constantly asking her on dates etc, even though Kouyou goes weeks thinking its a joke.

-Chuuya's first band wasn't the flags, but the sheep, which ended with the sheep stealing the songs chuuya wrote and claiming credit for them, after chucking him out of the band. He's still salty about it years later, especially when Yuan attempts to get in contact with him when Dazai's band starts playing venues and getting popular.

-idk if i'll write any more for this but it popped in my head and im actually attached to the idea lol <3

slipping out from the shadows, akutagawa makes his way around your room, just as quiet as you in your unconscious state. he was surprised you weren't dead, seeing how you got dragged into the crossfire between a new, reckless ability group in the area and the port mafia earlier that day; he had seen you bear the brunt of the damage directed to his opponents. it wasn't intentional—nobody knew about one of the abilities used by the enemy that allowed them to deflect the damage they received onto someone else, and normally, he wouldn't have cared. a single life wouldn't have mattered.

but something about you...

was it the look in your eye—something so terrifyingly open, expressing your fear of dying? was it the thought that you could have been anyone—gin, perhaps, if she had a better life and didn't have to turn to the mafia with him?

whatever it was, it struck something deep inside him, ringing louder and louder until he couldn't think of anything else. you could have died; anyone else would have, but you didn't. akutagawa left death and destruction in his wake. he was the cause of calamities, the port mafia's dog that would go to any length to prove himself even if it left him half-dead. he had slaughtered countless opponents with rashoumon's jaws, yet someone as insignificant as you had survived. survived him, survived the disaster he brings.

he was familiar enough with the medications you had been administered. you would be out cold for a while, oblivious to the eyes watching you from the darkness, vulnerable to anyone with devious intentions.

he thought of himself to be like your protector in that moment. he has spent a lot of his life fighting, but fighting for you makes all the difference. he leans in, and allows himself to caress you softly, very softly, with his tainted hands. you don't stir. before he can stop himself, before he can remind himself of his place, the greedy thing inside of him takes reign and compels him to kiss you, just as softly, lightly brushing your lips. as expected, even your heartbeat doesn't change. but his is pounding so loudly, he fears you'd wake up.

he does it again, and again. until he finally feels satiated and goes back to his place in the shadows. akutagawa lets himself dream a little, not of the usual tragedy and death, but of a future, one with you—you and him, together.

us, he thinks. you and him.

BSD SERIES ANNOUNCMENT !!

bsd!shattered au : What if the pm and ada were not just associations, but full-fledged kingdoms at war? Which one will prevail and swallow the other whole.

Citadel (pm):

Dazai: The illegitimate child of Mori, Mori took him off the streets as he deemed him "useful" has no intent to treat him as a prince or even a possible heir. Mori is abusive towards him. Dazai eventually was finished with the abuse and managed to launch a rebellion.

Mori: The king. Corrupt with odd ideals, no one knows what he is planning. The past queen died, and now he believes her spirit resides in a doll of her younger self. Informants have reported him doing strange rituals involving the doll. Insane.

Chuuya: no bio yet.

Akutagawa: Slave. Attempted to flee the empire with Gin, did not make it. Dazai took him in as a guard dog without Mori knowing. Has a magic bound chain which forces him to obey orders. Treated poorly.

Kyu: Spy. Also helps torture caught assassins or other people working against them. No one knows how he came about, or his origins.

Ichiyou: Countess. Supervises Akutagawa in case he tries to act out. Accompanies him to also stabilize his mana collar.

Kouyou: Marquess. Has henchman and provides a lot of military power for the kingdom.

Elise: ??? / A doll. No one knows where it went after Mori's death.

Odasaku: Commoner. Greatly aided Dazai in the uprising. Was bestowed a Baron rank by Dazai.

Astric (ada):

Fukuzawa: The king. He is a Kindred spirit to his people so he is naturally well-liked. Significantly weaker since the use of slaves is banned...

Atsushi: A commoner. A newcomer to the elite military circle. Still in training. Has strong abilities but still needs to learn how to use them...

Kyouka: Atsushi took her off the streets, not involved in the military force, Atsushi provides for her.

Kunikida: Viscount. Strong expectations placed on him from a young age.

Ranpo: Informant/Investigator, defuses schemes. Baron.

Yosano: Treats injured people on missions. Marquess.

Kenji: Helps train military forces. Commoner.

Gin: Managed to make it past the borders and into the Astric empire. Worries about her brothers safety but was freed from her slave title. Quickly recruited by Fukuzawa.

Anti-royalty association (doa):

Fyodor: Fyodor is the mastermind. Is a Duke in the Citadel kingdom and the secret base resides there. Tries to keep what happens under wraps from Dazai. Basically this is a cult:/

Nikolai: Basically helps Fyodor or wtv. Commoner.

Sigma: Basically....exploited office worker. Forced to clean up the messes caused by the other two.

I am a big fan of yanderes and the worst kind of villains, so that's going to be something I write a lot about.

Rules and boundaries

This is strictly a canon x reader/OC writing blog. I won’t write canon x canon. I may discuss them, but that’s it.

By default, I write gender-neutral reader! I try to avoid using any gendered terms or describing the reader too much. I write readers of any gender, just remember to mention what gender the reader is if you send a request.

I write all genres; fluff, angst, smut. I am comfortable writing almost anything. I'll tell you if I am too uncomfortable with what you request. Please don't take it personally if I refuse!

I mainly write about male characters, but there are some female characters I write about too (see the list in the end).

I let anyone interact, except minors on my +18 posts. I will check every blog that interacts with my +18 posts"! If I see any blank or under 18 blogs, I will block them.
