I took Alai Ganuza's Domestika course on oil painting, in an attempt to learn more about how she uses color. I love her paintings!
Oil paints are so messy though! I felt I could stand perfectly still with my hands in the air and somehow get covered in paint. One time, I wasn't even painting, just cleaning the palette afterward, and somehow got paint on the bottom of my foot. I noticed paint on the ground and cleaned, unknowingly spreading more and more paint with each step I took. 😂 "Where is this paint coming from!?!?" I also sliced my fingers open on the palette, as Alai recommended using glass from a picture frame. I didn't think such thick glass could cut me! But alas. I lined the edges with duct tape. Cuts aside, I like using the glass much more than the old plastic palette I had (which I had to throw out after destroying it with oil paints...honestly, how do people clean this stuff???). I think I'll stick to acrylics whenever I paint from now on, as I've had less trouble with them in the past.
Overall, I'd say my paintings are messy (I bought the wrong brush sizes and had a hell of a time), but I think I learned a lot about color. I might take Alai's other course but just use acrylics, since my focus is just on color.
For those who saw my earlier PMS post, I absolutely cried while painting the one with the peach. 😅

Birthday Cake
Nicola, our Animation blogger, also likes to bake so in addition to baking something delicious and beautiful, she also decided to draw a slice. Check out her illustration with colorful whipped cream in "Birthday Cake" #MarywoodArt #Illustration #Animation
For my birthday, my sister and I made a brownie chocolate cheesecake—recipe here by Cooking Tree—and I thought I might as well draw it too. So, here is a cake I baked.
I finished drawing it before I actually saw the finished cake, so I had to anticipate what it would look like. It has a pretty simple appearance, so that wasn’t too hard. My first plan was to draw the whole cake, but since it is…
