honestly she's also an insomniac herself so it's not really a problem for her

if you're not busy, she'll ask you to accompany her while she's doing late night experimenting.

she's… surprisingly domestic?

she doesn't talk much when it's late (she doesn't talk much in general though), and you don't either so it works out.

sometimes forgets that you're not a mutant like her, but when she remembers she'll help you fall asleep. She'll find a way, she's a scientist, after all, a mad one at that. Nothing is impossible with her.

entertains you with her crows if her experiments get too dangerous for you.

the type to make you play chess with her over a cup of tea.

you have zero idea how to play so she teaches you.

also an insomniac

but she's not as noticeable because she wears a veil and no one really sees her face.

late night reading, not healthy for both of your eyes but who cares?

donna is surprisingly active at night (not like that).

living with her includes hearing the kitchen being rummaged at 3 am only to find out it's her trying to cook pasta.

either that or she's trying to find her missing tool.

she can be forgetful sometimes and you are too, but remember, two negatives makes a positive! (you two still haven't found where your blue pen went.)

makes you and herself some soothing lavender tea.

she wears her hair down when it's late, and she's fucking gorgeous goddamn.

the sight of her alone makes you sigh dreamily.

you don't need sleep, you're already living the dream.

angie bites your toes if you look at donna funny for too long.

for the love of all that is holy, please stop trying to scare the maidens, it's 2 in the morning.

she's very tired.

she's the opposite of an insomniac, her line of work makes her really cranky at night.

technically she doesn't need sleep, but it's refreshing so she does it and hates when she's disturbed.

just imagine having to be a single milf girlboss with a massive dump truck, must be tiring for her, damn.

sorry. anyway, she'll find a way to help you.

perhaps you need medicine? she can give the Duke a quick late night call and make either Cassandra or Bela fetch them (because she doesn't trust the maidens will come back alive if she sent them this late.)

sits up with you until you're tired, but all the time she'll look like someone who hadn't had a blink of sleep since 500 b.c.

you decide to help her sleep instead, you don't mind.

so you ended up being cuddled by her while she's in her deep sleep, yay!

❄ mia winters

she's tired, not like alcina kind of tired, but just tired.

at some point in the night, she noticed you're not sleeping next to her, again, which made her wake up and get you.

you make her feel safe and when you're not there she gets reminded of her Louisiana days, which, isn't fun.

depending on the day, she can either haul you back to bed for her to cuddle or ask you whether you need something to calm your nerves.

stays up with you, but falls asleep in the end.

cuddling on the sofa with her is heaven so you don't mind.

in the morning you'll be so sore and stiff though, because when she cuddles, she's not even a koala, she's literally merging with you.

her warmth usually brings you to sleep, it's likely her general comforting presence that helps you.

buys you medicine to help with your insomnia if you ask so, but she'll do it tomorrow.

for now, she'd like to rest.

🦇 bela dimitrescu

contrary to alcina, the three of her daughters, and especially, bela, are insomniacs.

they do random shit at 1 in the morning.

one time bela got dragged into having a karaoke session, which meant you also got dragged by the other two sisters (read: daniela).

it's fun though, you got a good laugh from them.

which is great considering your insomnia is making you more and more mentally exhausted.

once they all let their energy out, bela can finally get some time with you.

bela may or may not bring you to her bedroom, depending on whether or not her sisters will tease her for it.

doesn't know how to make tea, so don't hope she does or ask her for it.

silence.

it gets really awkward when she's just sitting there staring at you and expecting you to just get bored and sleep.

you end up having candlelit dinner? breakfast? at 3 am.

🗡️ cassandra dimitrescu

as mentioned before she also has insomnia. she sometimes still manages to sleep though, but it usually happens at day or at random times.

after the whole late night shenanigans, usually she's the most tired because she matches daniela's endless energy but also bela's crankiness.

she enjoys laying down doing particularly nothing so expect her to lay on the same bed as you while staring blankly at the ceiling.

when asked she usually takes a few moments to respond, and as it turns out, she accidentally slept with her eyes open. kinda neat.

she's also like daniela, she can't sit still.

may make random small talks before she just… had it.

so she decided to ask you to spar with her in the armor room.

if you're tired, she'll suggest doing something else like taking a walk around the castle.

one time she's feeling generous, she actually asked you to waltz on the grand hall.

she still remembers the steps despite being dead for God knows how long but you absolutely have zero idea how to waltz.

and you're losing your shit whenever she smiles at you softly.

how uncharacteristic for the murderous vampire who gouged a maid's eyes out for looking at you wrong.

needless to say, your nights are always productive with cassandra.

🌹 daniela dimitrescu

with daniela, it's like gambling your sanity.

there's half the chance that she's feeling hyper that night, or the other being that she's feeling hella tired and doesn't want to be disturbed by the maids. (meaning if she sees someone messing up while she's in this mood, there'll be one more barrel in the cellar.)

either way, none of them meant anything good for you.

drags you to the library to read her stories, more often than not, she's asking you to read her fairy tales which is super valid. I also love them.

makes you play with her hair while you're reading.

very unpredictable, no wonder she's dimitrescu's wild card.

she sleeps when her energy runs out, which may take a long time.

she sleep talks, mostly slurring out your name or whining about how cassandra is always so unfair to her.

softly snores

you always end up being the one cleaning her mess if a maid died that day.

How the Resident girlies will spend Christmas with you as Christmas is just around the corner.

1. Bela

Bela gives you the greatest Christmas gift she could get you: taking a day off.

Bela's way to relax with you is to take you both away from home related drama. So she'd fly you away to a European country for a white Christmas. How about Germany?

You both would walk hand in hand around the snow laden streets of Berlin, enjoying the Christmas spirit.

Bela's favourite Christmas drink is mulled wine. She loves to make it personally for you. You love the warm and sweet spicy taste of it.

2. Donna

You and Donna had to keep the flower shop open during the day, as a lot of people buy last minute flowers. However, you and Donna both made sure to spend a lot of time together decorating the shop for Christmas.

Donna keeps on holding the mistletoe over you. You of course have no choice but to follow the tradition and kiss her. Not that you need any tradition to kiss your soft Italian florist.

In the evening you both decide to celebrate in the beautifully decorated shop itself. You both set the chairs and table and Donna sings Italian Christmas carols for you. Having Christmas dinner surrounded by red and white roses is a experience you'll never forget.

Donna's favourite Christmas drink is Bombardino, a Italian christmas drink quite similar to eggnog. Angie often tries to spike it. You let her do it, because drunk Donna is a adorable Donna.

3. Cassandra

Cassandra is a total Broadyway bish and she'll be taking you to catch the The Christmas Spectacular show in New York.

After the show, you both would be go to Rockefeller Center Christmas Tree and take so many cute selfies together that your phone memory would explode.

Cassandra and you would soon have enough of crowded New York streets and just retreat back home. There you both will order in some pizza and spend the Christmas night cuddling and watching musicals.

Cassandra's favourite Christmas drink is hot buttered rum. It is warm and cosy and not boring, just like Cassandra herself.

4. Angie

Angie is your resident party girl, but for Christmas, she'll stay home, with you. She wants to spend the next morning waking up with you without a hangover.

Still, there would be some drinks around. But nothing too boozy. Angie would spend Christmas cooking together with you and watching Italian soap operas with you.

Angie and you would also play a lot of board games. Especially Jenga, where you would loose for the umpteenth time. Getting drunk regularly has given Angie a excellent sense of balance.

Angie's favourite Christmas drink is Limoncello, a sweet and tangy lemon drink with dashes of alcohol. It's something that both you and Angie can enjoy without getting completely hammered.

5. Daniela

Dani is all about creating the perfect romantic dates for you. So she'll set up lights and Christmas decorations at home for the perfect Christmas date.

Dani all throughout the dinner (that she herself cooked) would tell you about the Christmas she spent at Dimiterescu Mansion. Hearing how close the Dimiterescu sisters were during childhood would always bring a smile to your face.

You and Dani after dinner would dance around the room on Christmas songs. Dani would especially loudly sing "All I want for Christmas is you".

Dani's favourite Christmas drink is a simple hot chocolate. She makes sure to put extra marshmallow on top of yours.

6. Alcina Dimiterescu

You would spend the Christmas with Alcina at her extravagant Dimiterescu Mansion. Alcina has made sure to deck every floor with Christmas decorations.

Alcina has also made sure to have her personal chef make a feast for Christmas. Stuffed turkey, buttery mashed potatoes, you name it, it's there on the table. Alcina makes sure you have a little taste of everything by her own hands.

Later, you and Alcina would spend the Christmas night painting together. You'd model in Santa clothes (how skimpy is your imagination) while Alcina happily paints on her canvas.

Alcina's favourite Christmas drink is Catena Malbec Wine. She serves it to you with a side of cheese and cured meats.

7. Miranda

Miranda bestows upon you the greatest Christmas gift she could ever give you: taking a day off.

Miranda is a homebody, so Christmas with her would be a homely and cozy affair. She would make a comforting dinner for you. You would be sitting on the kitchen counter and just watching her move around as old Christmas songs play in the background.

Miranda and you are both bibliophiles, so it's no wonder you both would curl up on a large comfy chair together and read Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens.

Miranda's favourite Christmas drink is Vișinată, a Romanian sour cherry brandy. Miranda makes sure you drink it slowly so that you don't get too drunk.

Ok so I’m in Romania right now for funsies and this WHOLE time I just keep thinking of modern Alcina and reader hcs. Here are a few of them!

• Alci is absolutely OVERJOYED to take you around her country. She’s so excited to show you every single beautiful place and have you experience her culture.

• She tells you the history of EVERY SINGLE THING. Statues, castles, music, clothing, crops. Anything you can think of/ anything you have a question about she most likely has a detailed answer about it. She’s excited to tell you abt it! She wants you to learn more!!!

• She’s driving. Even if you’re a good driver (or maybe not) Alcina WILL be driving here. Whether you have to go through the flat countryside or the hairpin turns of the mountains, she is driving. I also think she drives a really nice car. Maybe a black or white Land Rover or smth like that.

• Alcina is a very safe driver, this we know, but when she’s here at home, she drives like crazy. You want to go to Constanta from Bucharest? That’s about a 2:15 hour drive (ish). Alcina will get you there in an 1.5 hours. Oh you’re going through the Transylvanian Alps? Alcina goes 90mph around every single curve because she knows the roads like the back of her hand. She doesn’t tailgate people, but she’s switching lanes all the time, flinging her hands up at people who cut her off, and she’s a very defensive driver.

• Alcina likes to stop in little teeny towns and spend money. Sometimes she will see a stand with homemade bread and jam and immediately buy some. Maybe you see a fruit market or a vegetable stall on your journey! If you tell her, she will go over and pick out the freshest fruits or vegetables grown in the seller’s backyard so you both can enjoy them.

You shake hands and she immediately notes the gloves and the way you use a disinfectant like a weapon

Sprayed some mf in the face was lowkey funny

She respects it and doesn't push you, besides I'd like to think that after the fucking debacle of Lousiana and the RAW meat she had to eat

Mia is a little testy about germs too, so she's got you

If someone ever has the audacity to skin-to-skin contact you not only will you be almost crying, they WILL be crying thanks to your great gf the badass mold queen Mia

Takes the avoidance of touch personally at first which leads to a whole series of rom-com levels of misunderstandings

Once it's explained she gets it

Angie doesn't and has to be put on a leash but it's fine

Donna is extra careful which is ridiculous bc she's barely around other people so she's forcing herself to giant her own damn house

You'd have to supervise for it to get done but Bela likes the mildly irrational idea of it

That's...not quite how it works all the time but she's stronger faster and drinks more human blood than you

Eventually she just sort of buzzes around you and hisses at Dani to stay away bc homegirl cannot keep things together

Unsurprisingly Dani escapes Bela's sight and lunges for you in a non-murdery way and makes contact

You scream bloody murder and go into a panic attack while Dani hisses at the loudness and doesn't understand a thing

Dani briefly has no hand at dinner and everyone sort of pretends like they don't see

Cassandra Dimitrescu

Just like her mother, fucking horrible about it on purpose before she grows fond of you

THEN she gets livid at the idea of someone messing with you

Accidentally sets you off mindlessly and freaks out when you freak out making it so much worse

I think it would take a lot of time to get her to not automatically do something to set you off so idk about your relationship life span

Daniela Dimitrescu

This my bestie is a commitment

You either last like a week or for life

Because she is uh VERY into skin to skin I am living in your organs kind of thing

Daniela doesn't MEAN to set you off. Kinda does it often because she can't help herself

If you commit anyways (very unhealthy of you bestie) then after time she's the most respectful fly woman you'll ever date

And the only but that's not the point

The point is she gets angry when others set you off and everyone kinda pretends like she isn't a serial offender

Is actually the most into it. She values all kinds of high art and culture and is very excited that you have a hobby she deems acceptable. Would provide a room in her castle for painting and would always be the first to frame your works of art

Karl Heisenberg

Can sketch a little himself and likes to do these very rough scribbles at the corners of your paper. Is happy to let you make a mess of his factory with your art supplies and enjoys parallel play where the two of you do your hobbies alongside each other for hours.

Donna Beneviento

Prefers craft to any messy kind of art. She likes to sit in her rocking chair and sew her quilts while you craft. If she doesn't feel like sewing she'll hum or play the piano for you. She isn't much of a talker but likes to listen to you talk about what you're making.

Salvatore Moreau

Stays back when he knows you’re concentrating because he’s worried he’d ruin your hard work with his clumsiness. If you take the time to engage him he will take part though, likes to paint abstract with his hands. Will flick paint at you and make a mess to make you smile.

The duke

Provides all your equipment and will let you sit on his lap as you draw. Will tell you about all the artists he’s met on his travels. Encourages you to pursue fine art and sell your works. Will make little jokes about modelling for you

- you’ve been the babysitter for the dimitrescu kids for a few years now

- while you’ve been taking care of the kids

- you’ve developed feelings for their mother

- you always admired her work ethic and the love she has for her girls

- she was always nice to you and considered you part of their family

- the girls adore you and love having you around

- most of the time they actually listen to you but not all the time

- sometimes you have to threaten to tell their mother for them to behave

- over the years their mother has warmed up to you

- when you first started she seemed cold and to herself

Hey, I love your Miss D and her Manthing series! However, I do have a question about it.

How come we never see Ethan talk? In some of these situations, like the most recent one with the blood bathtub, he could’ve communicated that he’s uncomfortable. I understand that the entire joke is that the Dimitrescus treat him like a pet, but the rest of the world is very aware that he’s a guy just as sentient/ sapient as them. Does your Ethan just not talk?

No hate, btw! Your comics are great and really funny, but the poor dude looks so uncomfortable in some situations and I feel like if he could’ve talked, he would’ve sat down at least Alcina and explain the situation.

i get this question a lot! and the most simple straight forawrd answer (it is not a very good one) is not to look into it too much! i know its a bad answer but thats how i went into the comic while i was making it! just: ok lets just make really funny scenarios to make people laugh!

they dont nesscarily make sense, ans they could technically be avoided but, they arent for the sake of the silly comic to happen in the first place! ethan HAS tried to speak before but is repeatedly intteruptted at least where we have seen him try (heisenberg)

You paused for a moment, taking a deep breath to steady your nerves, before gently pushing open the door.
