Abby Lee Miller Shares Graphic Photo of Incision After Undergoing Emergency Surgery

Abby Lee Miller is on the road to recovery -- even though it might not feel like it.

The Dance Moms star took to Instagram on Friday to share a graphic new photo of the long incision across her back, after undergoing emergency surgery earlier this month. Miller underwent a five-hour multi-level laminectomy, which left her with an 18-inch incision. ET learned the reality star was preliminarily diagnosed with Burkitt Lymphoma one day after the surgery.

"This gives a whole new meaning to being stabbed in the back!" Miller captioned a pic displaying at least 18 surgical staples on her back, while a nurse gave a thumbs up to the camera.

Miller broke her silence after the surgery last week, sharing a photo of herself from her hospital bed. "So much gratitude and love for those who listened, those who looked deeper and those who leapt into action. So much more I wish I could say......about how quickly your life can change at the hands of others. Thanks for 🙏❤️ #abbyleemiller #abbylee #aldc #aldcla #aldcalways #dancemoms #iwilldance," she captioned the pic.

Burkitt Lymphoma, which is a non-Hodgkin lymphoma, is a form of cancer that affects the lymphatic system and starts in antibody-producing B cells, which are part of the immune system.

Miller's orthopedic spine surgeon, Dr. Hooman Melamed, told ET last week that Miller's diagnosis was still pending a pathology report. “People who have been diagnosed with this have a good prognosis," he said. "We’ll know more details soon."

As for her back surgery, Dr. Melamed revealed that the outcome was "looking really good" but that Miller wasn't "out of the woods yet."

"She will need another surgery in her spine but she has a lot more movement in her arms, legs and toes," he explained. "Forget paralysis -- if she waited much longer she would’ve died from this."

Abby Lee Miller took to social media to update her fans about her present condition after she was diagnosed with cancer. She also thanked everyone who expressed their support to her amid the health scare.

On Saturday, Miller took to Instagram to share a selfie she took from her hospital bed. In the photo, the noticeably emaciated Lifetime star is seen holding her right hand over her mouth, making her IV drip very conspicuous to her followers.

The “Dance Moms” star expressed in the caption her gratitude to everyone who has shown her support amid the difficult time. “So much gratitude and love for those who listened, those who looked deeper and those who leapt into action. So much more I wish I could say……about how quickly your life can change at the hands of others,” she wrote.

Miller added, “Thanks for [paying hands emoji] and [heart emoji].” She also used hashtags like #iwilldance, #aldcalways and #dancemoms to convey her passion for dancing, coaching, and doing her reality show in spite of what she’s going through.

An insider familiar with the matter told Us Weekly that Miller is actually devastated by her condition, but she’s doing her best to not show it. “Abby is devastated by is strong and trying to put on a brave face,” the insider said. “She will make it through this.”

Two days prior, Miller’s doctor, Dr. Hooman M. Melamed, exclusively disclosed to People that the reality TV star was diagnosed with a type of cancer called non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma. Since it was a preliminary diagnosis, Miller will be subjected to more tests before the most appropriate course of treatment could be administered to her.

“We’re getting an oncologist involved and we have to figure out what the next steps are as far as chemotherapy or radiation or more spine surgery. Depending on the tumor type, depending on the sensitivity of the tumor — it just depends [on] the type but I feel more than yes, she will undergo chemotherapy or radiation,” Dr. Melamed explained.

Miller was recently transferred to a halfway house after serving her prison sentence for bankruptcy fraud. She was rushed to the hospital earlier this month due to an “unspecified medical complaint.” Doctors initially thought that she had a spinal infection because she suffered “excruciating neck pain” and weakness in her arm.

On Sunday evening, the Lifetime celeb took to Instagram to announce that she will be leaving the beloved reality series. Ironically, Miz Miller’s resignation announcement was probably the most Abby-like thing as she totally dragged the show for treating her “like dirt.”

Oh snap!! While Lifetime has yet to address Abby’s very public resignation, many are left wondering what’ll happen to the show that introduced us to dance prodigy Maddie Ziegler.

Still, it feels as though the 50-year-old’s departure from the dance program was inevitable as she’s currently in the middle of a bankruptcy fraud case. In case you forgot, in 2015 the choreographer was accused of trying to hide $775K during Chapter 11 bankruptcy proceedings.

Allegedly, ALM tried to hide the money in secret bank accounts between 2012 – 2013, in addition to having her friends smuggle $120K in plastic bags in their luggage back in August 2014. In January, the reality TV villain agreed to forfeit the $120K she snuck into Australia.

As officials postponed Abby’s sentencing date, Miz Ziegler’s former mentor has yet to be officially sentenced. We have a feeling things are only going to get more dramatic for the Dance Moms vet.
