Please do NOT scroll past this video, especially if you are a fan of Oscar Isaac’s films.
Scott Rudin is a very successful and prolific film and television producer. He has worked several times each with both the Coen Brothers and Alex Garland, and was the main producer behind two of Isaac’s most prominent films, Inside Llewyn Davis and Annihilation.
Rudin was recently outed for extremely toxic and violent behaviour that was swept under the rug by Hollywood for decades. The heartbreaking video above was posted today by the brother of one of Rudin’s former assistants. This quote really hit hard:
“Real consequences would be the talented writers, directors and actors you work with not returning your calls anymore. Actually showing that they care about the rights and dignity of all people, and that no one deserves the kind of abuse that you inflict.”
I am posting this because people need to be aware of the kind of behaviour that must be rooted out of the Hollywood system. The only reason why Rudin hasn’t been held accountable so far is because of his success and influence on others (a.k.a. people are scared of him). Look at how how much influence he’s had over Oscar Isaac’s rise to prominence:
A real life situation has pushed me into wanting to write a Juke fic. Oh no
Anyway, I'm going to this French class (should be like, music class or smt) outside of my university. And well, at first, I (Julie in the fic) had a crush on this boy my age (Nick, which would be only sensible). But a new guy (Luke), who was older than me, arrived and he kinda irritated me at first even though I thought he was kind of cute?
Hence some internal conflict. One day, I was getting my electric bike out of the ground floor and the newer guy was tying his shoes by the staircase. It was a little hidden and dark, but as I turned look a him a bit, he gave me a tiny wave and a cute smile and BAM! CHANGE OF TARGET!
Still crushing on the first boy but like, I'm going crazy over the newer one. Also, they are both of my type but on the opposite sides of the spectrum.
The new guy and me, we have kinda caught each other's eyes a few times but there hasn't been anything much. So, this crush might or might not have a good ending. Would love to write a Juke fic bc I want a happy ending for me too, even if through Julie and Luke.
quackity would definitely have the whole “JESUS FUCKING CHRIST IM GOING TO BE SUCH A BAD FATHER” until he does something dope and then thinks “I AM THE BEST FATHER IN THE WORLD”.
tries to be the fun parent a bit too much probably, and after you lecture him on getting the kids ice cream at 8 pm he tries to tone it down. is really into the kids activities, whether it be school or sports or otherwise, and is always at games cheering them on even if its like, little league soccer. hes the soccer dad who smothers them in sunscreen and brings cut apples to the practice.
tries to give them a really fun structured childhood, doing lots of arts and crafts with them at home but also having them sit down for dinner with you guys every night. but of course sometimes a picnic in front of the tv is acceptable. does the cutesy shit like camping in the backyard with all of you, and even if the kids keep you both up all night it’s worth it to lay out in the cool air with him and watch the stars!
always tries to make them laugh, but makes a conscious effort to have them be emotionally aware and not... mask their problems with humor, like he’s prone to do. you tell him he’s doing a good job, but he’s always worried they’ll not feel like they can talk to him about everything, so constantly tells them just that.
would brag about them online but not post any photos of their faces, and would probably call them by nicknames, so that they can decide if they want to be on the internet for themselves later. would def post photos but would crop their faces out or put a sticker over it, and would probably call them by their middle names or a nickname online. if a photo ever gets taken of him out with them and posted, he goes apeshit.
soooo fucking protective and definitely has to calm himself down if they skin a knee. his eyes are like, blown wide with fear as he helps them to their feet and goes “you’re fine! all good!” to stop them from making a big deal out of it. as a result the kids end up really tough but he ends up with an anxiety disorder.
