Kindred Spirits, Part II
Fandoms: Supergirl, Nikita A/N: Kara Zor-El and Alexandra Udinov both had their lives turned upside down when they were about the same age, so I thought, what if I make them small and sad together? Continuation of Part I, but now with supermom Eliza. Content Warnings: Nikita-canon-typical mentions of suicidal thoughts and behaviors, drug use, non-consensual sex
Kara watches Eliza prepare breakfast before school.
She braces herself and then ventures tentatively, "I made a new friend."
"That's wonderful!" says Eliza, quickly laying down the fruit she'd been cutting. She turns to give Kara her full attention, beaming. "Is it one of your classmates?"
For most kids, that would probably be true, but Kara has been forging her own path on this planet. She knows Eliza hopes that one day she'll make human friends her age, but she's found more comfort and familiarity in strays like Streaky.
Sasha is human and her age, but she's not a classmate. It's hard to be someone's classmate from three thousand miles away.
Speaking of how she's been traversing those three thousand miles...
"Please don't be mad."
Eliza stiffens slightly, but she does a good job of masking her concern. When she speaks, her voice is calm, gentle even. "Why would I be mad?"
Kara takes a deep breath and then launches into her story. She's been back to visit Sasha a few times now. Each visit has shed more light on the horrifying situation Sasha and the other girls are in. It's impossible to keep the emotion out of her voice as she sees her own horror reflected back to her in Eliza's increasingly distraught expression.
To her credit, Eliza lets her get it all out before sighing, "Oh, Kara."
"I'll stop complaining about school," Kara promises vehemently. "I don't know how to fix this. I don't know how to fix Earth things. I know that now. I'll go to school, and I'll learn." She'll endure the inane math and science classes, the boring history classes, anything if it means she'll be able to help people like Sasha in the future. "Please. They need help."
...
Kara stands just to Eliza's left and holds out her arms.
"When I fly with Alex--I mean, when I flew with Alex, we would..."
Eliza notes the present tense slip up and knows she'll have to revisit it later, even if it does pale in comparison to what else has apparently been transpiring.
Jeremiah would put a stop to all of this immediately. Perhaps that's why she hasn't told him yet. Or perhaps, Eliza tells herself, he's already busy with the DEO and doesn't need anything else to worry about.
It's a flimsy excuse, but Eliza knows herself and she knows her daughter. Eliza can tell Kara not to go back, but that doesn't mean Kara won't. And as for Eliza herself, well, she won't be forgetting about those girls in a hurry.
With that in mind, Eliza settles into Kara's hold as she gently hovers above the ground to test Eliza's comfort level.
Then they're off.
It's her first time flying with Kara. Under different circumstances, she'd reflect on the absolute wonder of it. The view is spectacular, and when the wind is in danger of drying out her eyes, she closes them and revels in the feel of the wind against her skin.
And it's all courtesy of her daughter.
Flight. Super speed. Super strength. So many of Kara's powers on display.
But there's no time. Before long, Kara is landing them on the roof of their destination and gesturing for her to wait.
Kara has scoped out the building and the guards' schedules in advance, but she does a run through of the building now just in case. As much as this is a mission to save the girls, Kara has been adamant that Eliza's safety is also a top priority.
Tonight, most of the guards have been pulled away for something else. No one has been assigned in their place. The people in charge clearly found little threat in a bunch of drug-addicted girls with no where to go.
Eliza's here to make sure they have somewhere to go.
And that's only one of the many things they'll need help with.
Addiction treatment, trauma counseling, health check ups, social services (are they safe to go back to their families or did their families give them up), things Eliza's forgetting, things she'd never consider.
Because as much as she is the adult, as much as she's been a lifelong resident of this planet and this country, as much as she can be said to know more than Kara, she doesn't know enough.
When she meets the girls, the one thing she does know for certain is that she will absolutely be crying later.
...
Kara's new friend Sasha is Alexandra Udinov, the lost heiress to a billion dollar company called Zetrov.
At least, to the rest of the world, she is.
To Sasha, she is the lost daughter of parents who had been murdered in their home while it burned down around them. The only part of being an heiress that matters is that she will most likely be killed the moment she resurfaces.
Eliza's mind nearly crashes and burns because of course, of course life had yet another curve ball to throw her way.
And she finds out in perhaps the worst possible way.
Like Kara's earlier protectiveness, Eliza isn't helping the girls blindly. She can't forget that some of the girls have seen Kara use her powers. She can help the girls and investigate the potential threat level at the same time.
By Kara's account, only two of the girls have seen her use her powers. The first girl Kara saved poses no threat. Eliza can't deny that there's something horrifying and perverse in the relief that she was too high, too lost in her nightmare of a reality to remember anything.
Sasha is another story entirely. While Kara may have initially manifested herself as a hallucination with magical powers, her subsequent visits and Eliza's presence are proof that she's more than a heroin-induced fever dream.
Eliza can't help it. Her questions come out a little too pointed, a little too probing. Sasha picks up on the threat assessment, and she visibly retreats, understanding that being a threat to Kara has turned into a threat against herself.
Kara must have made quite the impression though, enough to make Eliza completely trustworthy by association, because Sasha offers up her own identity as collateral. She doesn't say the words, merely shows Eliza her father's watch, holding it out for Eliza to see but not far enough to hand it over, to risk giving it up.
The pieces of Eliza's heart, already broken by the tragedy around her, shatter. She takes in Sasha's hunched frame, terrified she made the wrong choice in trusting Eliza, and feels the oxygen in her blood transform into a self-loathing guilt as her vessels deliver it to every cell in her body.
It's no wonder, really, that Kara and Sasha had bonded so quickly--two girls whose worlds had burned down around them, families lost, and who now live in a world where revealing their real identities could only result in death or worse.
"Can I hug you?" Eliza asks.
Sasha's tiny frame trembles in her arms, unused to comfort after so many months and unsure if it's real.
"Oh, sweetheart," Eliza murmurs, and whatever walls Sasha valiantly tried to maintain dissolve now. Her muscles slacken, and the only movement comes from her lungs, heaving with sobs.
The thought of adopting Sasha passes through Eliza's mind.
She would probably need a new identity and papers, which is doable. They know a guy.
Goodness, she's starting to sound like some sort of career criminal.
"California woman convicted of serial child adoption," the headline would read.
But reality pops the idealistic dream forming in her head. Eliza still has to deal with Jeremiah. Alex has been handling the adjustment from only child to older sister admirably, but Eliza knows they can only ask so much of her. The steep increase from financially supporting one to three children cannot be ignored, not to mention the ever-growing dark cloud of external threats hanging over their heads.
Eliza clutches Sasha tighter and promises, swears to both Sasha and herself, that she'll figure something out.

5 Other Things That Were "In The Comics"
BW Media Spotlight proves that some defenses don't hold up by listing 5 Other Things That Were "In The Comics"
Do we not remember Jen only got her gamma radiation from a blood transfusion and not a large gamma bomb? I’m becoming more and more convinced that the comic writers we have now over at the Big Two are just adding things to the comics in the hopes of getting them into their respective movies and television/internet shows. In the past few years we’ve had characters and events that are being used…

The Luthor's Girl [I]
Lena was the first to meet her.
Kara Danvers had interviewed her as soon as she took over at L-corp, Lena she couldn't help but make the blonde blush every chance she got.
Lena thought she was the cutest little thing she had ever seen in her life.
Of course, she avoided trusting the blonde so quickly but that didn't stop her from fantasizing about her some nights.
When Lena found out that Kara wasn't really a reporter but that she had inspired her to be one, she couldn't help herself and kissed her.
Maybe it wasn't the smartest move – according to Lena – but she would repeat it as many times as necessary if it meant having the blonde on her fingers again and screaming her name when she climaxed.
But let's back up a little.
Of course Lena regretted 'attacking' the blonde like that, but when Kara grabbed her silk shirt so tightly that she could tear it if she wanted to, she changed her mind.
Lena's hands tangled in the blonde's hair, she pulled with some force, listening to how the blonde gasped and took the opportunity to insert her tongue into Kara's mouth. Lena growled when she heard the blonde moan as she let the black haired girl have control of her, Lena was ecstatic to see how Kara responded to her.
Lena could feel Kara's tongue desperately seeking to tangle with hers. Lena sucked on the blonde's tongue, swallowing her moan and feeling her hips move in response.
Lena broke away from her kiss and removed one of her hands from the blonde's hair, Kara's pupils were completely dilated, the blue sky had become a storm in which Lena wanted to get lost.
“Jess,” she spoke as she pressed the intercom button, “cancel all my meetings, everyone leaves early today.”
Lena did not wait for an answer but moved to sit in her chair, with a sign, she indicated to Kara to face her, remaining between the desk and the chair, Kara obeyed immediately, letting out a small submissive streak that Lena knew that she had.
Not caring if she looked needy or made a bad impression, Lena stood up and ripped Kara's shirt, sending the buttons flying all over the office. The black haired woman looked appreciatively at the blue lace underwear, Lena raised an eyebrow and looked at the blonde.
"Lace?" Lena asked as she ran her nails along Kara's abdomen.
“I want you to find me desirable,” Kara murmured, looking away.
Lena growled, frowned, her eyes turned cold and she worried Kara had said something she shouldn't say.
“When I stop finding you desirable, as you say, it is because I will be dead or someone has impersonated me.”
Lena kissed Kara again, but she decided to do it slower, she wanted Kara to feel that the black-haired woman not only wanted something sexual with her but that she wanted everything.
After that day, Kara and Lena started seeing each other more often. Lena invited the blonde on outings to restaurants and her penthouse where they ended up with Kara against the glass of the balcony and Lena behind her pushing her fingers or a toy inside her.
Although of course, Kara was not far behind, she invited Lena to “sleepovers” and game nights with her friends and her sister. Alex didn't trust the black-haired girl much, but a conversation they had made her see how wrong she was.
Alex realized – with too much discomfort – that Lena Luthor pampered her sister, perhaps too much.
It all started in an innocent way that was of little concern.
Candies.
Donuts.
Postickers.
Things that anyone could buy.
Alex began to become alarmed when she realized that there was a donut shop called Kara's in which Kara was listed as the owner. An alarmed Alex called Kara to tell her and her sister only responded with a very excited “OMG-Alex-Lena-gave-me-a-donut-store.” Of course, after hearing that, Alex grabbed her license plate, got on her motorcycle and headed towards L-Corp.
...
Alexandra stopped in front of L-Corp, some people around looked at her as if she were crazy.
The redhead didn't say anything and she just flashed her FBI badge, allowing her easy entry into the building. The workers whispered as she walked down the hallway towards the elevator but she didn't care in the slightest, not at all, she went with one goal in mind and that was to know what the hell Lena Luthor wanted with her sister.
She knew that Lena Luthor was filthy rich but that didn't mean she could buy her sister like she was a prostitute, of course not.
Alex did not realize at the time that she climbed the 79 floors but the 'ping' alerted her that she had reached her destination.
The doors had not opened completely when the redhead was already reaching the office with long strides.
Alex slammed the door open and saw Lena sitting behind her desk. Not even Jess's screams made Alex stop.
“What do you want from my sister?”
Lena raised an eyebrow. “Good afternoon, Alexandra.” The black-haired woman got up from her seat and walked around her desk, standing in front of Alex. “I don't want something from your sister, I want your sister.”
Alexandra got bigger “So you are buying her to achieve that?”
Lena's eyes flashed dangerously, she walked up to Alex and jabbed a finger into her chest. “I'll only tell you two things, Alexandra Danvers, never compare your sister to a freeloader again and never think that I need to buy Kara's affection.”
Alex swallowed and took a few steps back.
“Do you need anything else, Agent Danvers?” Lena asked.
Alex denied and Lena indicated with one hand where her exit was.
After that altercation Alex made sure to stay on Lena Luthor's good side.
...
Then Saskia met Kara.
That was the best kept secret of the Luthor Family: Lionel had not had one bastard daughter, there had been three.
Saskia was older than Lena by two minutes, both sisters got along quite well and had similar tastes in many things.
Including the girls.
Lena had told Saskia about Kara, which piqued the eldest's curiosity, so Saskia decided to meet Kara Danvers in person.
It was Monday when Saskia arrived at Catco, thanks to her sister she knew that Kara's stall was on the tenth floor, she searched all the stalls until she immediately recognized her by the blonde hair in a ponytail and the blue tie-collar shirt that she wore showed her arms.
Saskia approached her prey like a predator, she realized that Kara didn't hear the sound of her heels.
The black haired woman pulled Kara's chair towards her with one hand and with the other she grabbed Kara's hair and pulled hers hard enough to make the blonde girl pull her head back and kiss her hard. The entire office held its breath, everyone watched as someone who looked just like Lena Luthor was eating Kara Danvers with her mouth and like this she let herself be done.
Saskia separated from her when she heard the moan that Kara let out, the black-haired woman looked at how the blonde's iris had completely disappeared and her pupils were completely dilated.
"Who are you?" Kara whispered the question so that only Saskia could hear it. The black-haired woman was about to clear her throat when they separated completely.
Standing with her arms crossed, Andrea Rojas looked from the black-haired girl to the blonde and vice versa. Since Andrea took command of Catco she did everything possible to get Kara's attention, the fact that the blonde knew Lena Luthor was only a small stone in Andrea's way.
“Luthor.” Andrea acknowledged the woman with a nod.
“Rojas.” Saskia made her displeasure clear.
Both women locked gazes until something flashed in Saskia's eyes. No one missed the interaction between the two most powerful women in National City, there were even some who were live streaming everything that was happening.
"Kara Danvers." The blonde answered the phone and Saskia took the opportunity to play with some strands at the nape of Kara's neck. Andrea witnessed how Kara moved her body slightly towards the black-haired woman and how Saskia was happy about that. Neither of them paid attention to the conversation Kara was having; Saskia was too busy fantasizing about the blonde and Andrea was too busy thinking about how to get the black-haired girl out of her building. Kara ended the call and felt something hard poke her arm. She looked at Saskia and realized that her arm was stuck to the woman's crotch.
Saskia moved away from her a little when Kara moved the chair and stood up, running her hand over the black-haired girl's crotch subtly. "It's my lunch time." Kara grabbed her bag and gave Saskia a knowing look and a polite smile at Andrea.
Saskia quickly put a hand on her lower back, dangerously close to her ass, and directed her to the elevator for the star interviewees. Both women waited for the elevator to arrive and entered. Saskia, as the doors closed, quickly punched the parking button and then cornered Kara against one of the walls to kiss her fiercely.
Saskia tangled her hands in Kara's hair and she had one of her hands on the black-haired woman's suit jacket.
Saskia tried not to move her hips but the hand massaging her cock didn't make it so easy.
The black-haired girl sucked, licked and bit her blonde's neck, hypnotized by seeing how Kara turned into putty in her hands. Saskia almost moaned when Kara removed her hand from her cock, but seconds later a moan – that could be considered pornographic – came from her throat.
Kara grabbed the black-haired girl's butt and pushed her erection closer to her blonde.
The elevator stopped and the two women were separated by just a few centimeters. Saskia, not caring about anything about her, dragged Kara off of her and towards her car. Kara was about to laugh at the black-haired girl's excitement but instead she bit her lip.
Saskia braked and unlocked the car, Kara studied it for a few seconds and decided it was a good idea to ruin the upholstery a little.
Saskia kissed her again and put the blonde a little roughly into the vehicle, the black-haired woman climbed on top of the blonde and locked the door. At that moment she was more than grateful to have tinted windows. In one accurate movement, Saskia hit Kara's intimacy with her erection.
Saskia moaned.
Kara grabbed the black-haired girl's hips and rubbed herself against Saskia.
Saskia was sure that Kara Danvers would be the death of her.
A too pleasant death.
Saskia pulled away a little and looked at Kara, her face was flushed, her hair looked wild and her eyes promised heaven.
They stripped each other of their clothes in a mess of hands, Kara looked from Saskia's lace bra to the boxer briefs that were tight in the front. Kara reached up a little and removed the bra without any problem. She touched, patted and squeezed the black-haired woman's breasts, making her moan.
Kara's hands moved down to her boxers, she patted them over the fabric. Saskia moaned and moved her hips towards Kara's hands but she froze when she felt her cock make skin-to-skin contact with the blonde's hand.
Saskia was certain that if she hadn't come it was because she had too much willpower not to.
Kara looked at Saskia's cock, it could easily measure 6 inches long and almost half her wrist wide, Kara licked her lips and brought the cock towards her pussy lips, Saskia grabbed her wrists and pulled them away from her cock, immediately shee regretted it as he felt the loss of heat from the blonde's skin.
Saskia held Kara's wrists above her head, she teased a little, watching as the blonde squirmed on her and moved her hips, trying to get more friction. Saskia slowly entered Kara, letting her get used to the size of her. Saskia moved her hips in a regular manner, alternating between clean thrusts and circular movements.
It never occurred to her to stimulate Kara more. The blonde tried to get the black-haired girl to increase speed but she couldn't. Kara watched as Saskia's tits moved, as those hard nipples called to her.
Saskia hit a particularly sensitive spot in Kara and this is arching. Kara moved her mouth to Saskia's tits and started sucking on them. Saskia began to increase the speed of her thrusts. Both women felt the car moving but they had little interest in that. Kara bit the nipple and felt Saskia tense up.
"I'm going to come, Kara," the black-haired girl moaned.
"Raise me!" Kara shouted "Please raise me!"
Saskia looked at the blonde below her. "Is that what you want?" She asked "May I fill you with my sperm and make you a son?"
Saskia felt how Kara's silky walls squeezed her cock in response, the black-haired woman released the blonde's wrists and grabbed her hips tightly, giving increasingly stronger thrusts.
Kara grabbed Saskia's ass with her hands, kneaded it and with one finger began to probe the black-haired girl's shit hole, in an unexpected movement, Kara inserted her finger.
Saskia screamed her orgasm and felt ropes and ropes of cum shooting towards Kara's walls. The black-haired woman felt how the blonde beneath her reached orgasm in a muffled scream.
Saskia collapsed on top of Kara, both trying to come down from the orgasmic levels they had reached.
“Well,” Kara broke the silence. "Can I say that it is a real pleasure to meet you Saskia."
Saskia laughed and shook her head.
Neither of them saw the brunette that she was in one of the columns near the vehicle or that she had her cell phone in her hand, recording everything.
A few days later Kara got sick, so Kieran decided to go and visit the blonde and bring her some chicken soup.
Kieran was the youngest of the three sisters by two minutes and also the one the sisters protected the most.
Kieran knocked on the door of the blonde's apartment and when she received no response, she decided to use the key that Lena had given her.
The black-haired woman entered and called the blonde but no one answered. Worried, Kieran left everything on the kitchen island and hurried to the blonde's room. Kieran opened several doors until she found the blonde's room.
Kieran approached the bundle that was on the bed, the blonde hair was sticking out from between the covers, Kieran moved the bundle a little and managed to hear a moan, the black-haired woman let out the air that she didn't know she was holding.
"Kara" called "Kara, wake up."
The blonde moved a little but still didn't wake up. Kieran decided to take the covers off Kara, but when she saw what she was wearing she immediately regretted it. The blonde was in her panties and most likely she was shivering from a fever and not from the cold.
Kieran touched Kara's forehead and became alarmed, she immediately ran out of the room, went to the bathroom and turned on the shower, letting the water run as cold as possible. The black-haired woman took off her shoes, socks, jacket and shirt, leaving herself in a bra and pants. She quickly left the bathroom, returned to the bedroom, and scooped Kara into her arms.
The blonde tried to fight and break free from the hold but Kieran wouldn't allow it. Kieran hesitated at the moment when she was going to get into the shower with the blonde, but she quickly changed her mind, pulled Kara closer to her and both women entered the shower.
When the blonde felt the cold water, she screamed.
Kara struggled against Kieran's hold. The blonde scratched and tried to push the black-haired girl but the truth was that it was like watching a puppy fight against its mother.
When Kieran got her and Kara out of the shower, the blonde wasn't shivering as much anymore and her temperature wasn't as high anymore, Kieran was able to breathe when she realized that but she still had to dry and dress the blonde which she did.
She sent a message to Lena, talking about the situation and asking for help finding out where the blonde's underwear was located.
Kieran was nervous, but seeing that Kara wasn't shaking as much anymore, she decided to get some advil and water ready to give to the blonde when she was a little more conscious of herself.
When Kieran finally noticed that Kara was starting to feel better, she was able to breathe a little and detail the blonde's apartment. She didn't expect to meet her like that but she was grateful for the outcome, at least she could be with her and take care of her during the night.

I named myself after my biggest celebrity crush
Due to personal reasons, I decided to change my middle name. Since I was 14, Alex Kingston has been my biggest crush. I have loved and still love everything about her. So I changed my name to Alexandra.
From now on, every time I develop a crush on a character or a celebrity named Alexandra or Alexander, I think, 'Yeah, this one's meant to be.' I loved Alec Lightwood for over a decade now. I think Alex Danvers is one of the two best characters in 'Supergirl' (the other one is Lena Luthor). Recently I fell in love with Alex Claremont-Diaz. But Alex Kingston was always the first and the one for me.
Needless to say, I adore my middle name so much. I smile every time someone asks me to tell it.
That’s my crazy fan story

Vengeance, Victory, and Undying Love - pt 2
Chapter 2 of my Supercorp fic in which Lena still creates something called Non Nocere to deal with her broken heart after finding out Supergirl's identity, but this time she gives the name to a different project. A more personal one. And now she’s coming for Supergirl.
This and previous chapters also available to read on Ao3
.................
This wasn’t over.
Even as Lena watched Kara stumbling out to the car on her security feed she knew her night was only just beginning.
That was fine though. It was expected.
And it wasn’t as though she hadn’t prepared for it – the serum had been ready for weeks by the time the opportunity had arisen to use it, during which time she had run every variation of this scenario she could think of along with a dozen contingency options.
Of course the missile strike and Supergirl’s near death when it exploded hadn’t been part of her original plan, but Lena was ready to take the opportunities fate dropped into her lap, and aside from a brief helicopter ride and a little first aid, the essentials of the delivery had gone precisely as she had hoped. If anything the violence that had brought Supergirl into her hands just went to show how vital Non Nocere was.
Kara would understand that in time.
Or not.
It really didn’t matter either way, because Lena didn’t care one bit what Kara Danvers thought of her anymore. After all, this whole plan would make sure that she never had to think about Kara or Supergirl ever again. And she was so close now she could almost feel what it would be like when she achieved it.
Almost.
But first things first.
Kara would be arriving home in a few minutes, and as soon as she got there she’d find Alex waiting, doubtless frantic with worry for her lying traitor of a sister. After that it was only a matter of time before she found out about the injection and started trying to unravel what Lena had done.
She would fail of course. Alexandra Danvers might be good, but Lena Luthor was better, and she doubted whether anyone at the DEO would even be able to identify what the serum was made of, let alone what it was for. At least, not until it was too late.
They would work that out for themselves soon enough, and then they would come for her. Lena estimated she had two, maybe three hours before DEO agents stormed in to arrest her.
She had considered making herself scarce for a few days to avoid all the unpleasantness, but in the end she couldn’t bring herself to run away. It would seem cowardly. Villainous. And despite what they might think of her, Lena was not a villain: everything she did, she did for the good of the world.
Well, in this case maybe 99% good of the world, 1% vengeance…
So she would be there for the 1%, to witness the fear and betrayal she had stirred up among Supergirl’s duplicitous posse from the very epicentre of their panic, and it would be balm to her wounded pride to be able to keep them in the dark this time. Besides, if she was on site she could make sure everything went smoothly until the serum had had a chance to work beyond any possibility of reversal. It wouldn’t take long – a matter of hours at the most.
She smiled to herself at the thought, and began to prepare.
A meal first, a change of clothes, and some flat shoes, so that she would be comfortable if they kept her detained her for more than a few hours. After a brief hesitation she pulled the shirt she’d just put on back off and added a bullet proof vest underneath it, just in case things got out of hand. It felt a little melodramatic to be planning for the possibility of being shot by people she had, not so long ago, been playing Scrabble and cracking up over silly jokes with, but she had learned the hard way that you couldn’t go about blindly trusting people just because on the surface they seemed like the good guys. Besides, Alex Danvers would go absolutely feral at the thought that Lena had done anything to hurt her little sister.
So, bullet proof vest, check.
Ideally she could have done with a power nap too, but the timing of this hadn’t exactly been left up to her and she refused to be caught out in the vulnerability of sleep, so she settled for strong coffee instead.
By the time they arrived she was sitting behind her desk with an overnight bag at her feet, halfway down her second double espresso and idly flicking through the signed first edition of ‘The Wonderful Wizard of Oz’ she had found languishing in one of her desk drawers. The book had been purchased months ago, on a whim and for far more money than she should have spent on it, as a surprise for Kara. She had hoped at the time that it would make her friend smile to know that she had remembered this was her favourite film and tracked down a copy of the original book for her, but the right moment for the gift had never presented itself, and in the messy aftermath of her brother’s death and Kara’s betrayal Lena had forgotten all about.
Finding it again now it struck her as grimly funny that the titular character of Kara’s favourite story turned out in the end to be nothing more than a liar and a con artist, and despite the sharp ache it created in her chest, she hadn’t been able to resist looking through it while she waited. The reminder of what their friendship had once meant to her goaded her anger to the surface of her skin, where she gathered it and wore it like armour against whatever entreaties her former friends might make when she saw them.
An alert pinged on Lena’s phone to let her know that one of the silent security alarms had been triggered, and she watched the CCTV feed as six (overkill, surely) DEO field agents approached swiftly through the outer office. There were various security measures she could have deployed to delay them had she wanted to, but she didn’t. She waited calmly until they were at her door, then rose to meet them with the polite-but-frosty smile she reserved for meetings with the most obnoxious of her board members.
‘Good evening everyone. If I’d known there’d be so many of you I’d have waited in the conference room, there would have been more room to spread out. Still, I suppose we’ll be on our way shortly – you can put the guns down by the way, I’m quite prepared to come quietly. Would someone mind grabbing my bag?’
Needless to say, they did not grab her bag.
Packing it had been a pointless gesture really, but it was worth it just to see the looks of consternation at the clear message it sent that the DEO was expected, and had come on her terms, not their own.

Do you have ideas you can share about the hockey au 👀
I can share this little snippit from the thing i've been writing for it (which is longer than i intended i'm i'm just ugh, i have so many other things to be writing)
-
Now Alex does get mad.
She doesn't want to move, especially not to Minnesota of all places.
She only really knows about Minnesota from The Mighty Ducks, so she digs into the bookshelf in the living room, pulling out the atlases and encyclopedias and absolutely not.
Minnesota is as far as you can get from the ocean.
Minnesota gets snow all winter.
Minnesota only has, like, two cities.
But Alex is eleven (she had one more birthday with her friends, at least) and doesn't have any say, so to Minnesota they move.
But Alex is eleven and extremely smart and realizes something more is going on. It starts with the sudden move, then the order to not tell anybody where they're moving -
we're trusting you, Alex. you can't tell anybody
- and when they get to Lakeville, Minnesota, she's told that she isn't going to be Alexandra Josephine Danvers anymore.
'There are bad people who want Kara,' her mom tells her while her dad takes Kara to get ice cream. 'And we have to keep both of you safe from them.'

This is insane. I shouldn’t just show up to Kara’s and see if she wants to spend the day with me, driving around aimlessly with the top down, finding a few hole-in-the-wall places. She’s always said that if I needed to, or wanted to, stop by that I’m more than welcome.
Before my resolve wavered, I pulled into a parking spot and made my way to the reporter’s door. Taking off my sunglasses, I slid an earpiece into my belt. Knocking, I waited. I hope I didn’t underdress too much. Jeans and a nice sleeveless shirt. No one in National City has seen me in something like this. Kara has seen me in my lounge clothes before. She won’t care.
Confusion washed over me when an older woman answered the door. “I recognize you,” she smiled. “You’re Lena Luthor.”
“I am, yes.” She looks so familiar. My eyes flashed across the room behind her. This is definitely Kara’s apartment. I can see my appointed blanket on the couch.
“I’m Eliza, Alex’s and Kara’s mother. Please, come in.” Stepping to the side, the older woman allowed me entrance.
That’s where I recognize her from! The photo albums and pictures on Kara’s desk and around her apartment. “Thank you,” I smiled. “It’s nice to finally meet you, Mrs. Danvers. Kara’s told me so many stories.”
“You as well. Between everything Kara has told me, what’s been in the papers, and your TED Talks, I feel like I already know you.”
Kara talks about me to her mother? “I hope all was good.”
“It was,” Eliza chuckled. “I almost feel like I have three daughters instead of two.” Warmth filled my chest at Eliza’s words.
“Mom, who are you talking to-oh God. Lena, hi!” The agent’s voice pitched upwards with each word.
“Hi.” Crossing my arms, I studied the brunette. “What was that reaction for?”
“I…um…” Alex stammered, pulling out her phone to text someone.
“I hope you can make it to Thanksgiving this year.” Eliza made her way towards the kitchen. “Can I get you something to eat or drink?”
“No, thank you though.” She’s definitely the woman who raised Kara. That woman always offers me something to eat or drink the second I walk in. “Kara invited me but I may have to work.” I feel bad for lying.
“Well, I’m also inviting you this year.” Eliza smiled warmly. “Hopefully you can make it.”
“If you’re coming, then I’ll do my best. What brings you to town? I thought Kara said you flew in next weekend.”
“We wanted to see Mom longer!” Alex blurted, wrapping an arm around her mother’s shoulders. “This woman makes the best BBQ wings ever.” Hearing a frantic knock, Alex went to answer the door.
Walking in, Kara held a paper grocery bag in each arm. “Heeeyyy, guys. What’s up?” Eyes grew when the blonde saw me. She tried to speak but nothing came out.
“Kara?” Becoming self conscious, I looked over my outfit. “I dressed down because it’s my day off and I thought it would only be us.”
“I think you broke her brain,” Alex smirked.
“Alexandra,” Eliza warned.
Before Kara could respond, there was another knock at the door. “I’ll get it.” Alex moved quickly across the apartment. “Pretty sure I know who it is.”
“You look really good in green,” Kara smiled sheepishly. Tearing her eyes away, a light pink tinted the reporter’s cheeks. “S-Sorry for staring.” She murmured, placing the bags on the counter.
“No harm done.” I don’t mind when you stare. It makes me feel wanted.
The blood drained from Kara’s face when she saw who was at the door. “Mrs. Danvers, it’s nice to see you again.” Mike, from Kara’s office, walked in with a large bouquet of flowers. “These are for you.” He smiled, kissing Kara’s cheek. A shot of jealousy made its way through me.
“Reel it in a little.” Taking the flowers, Kara placed them on the table. “Thank you. They’re lovely.”
“Too much?” He frowned, disappointed in himself.
“For American society, yes. You normally only kiss certain people who you find special or some family members if they do cheek kisses.”
“Oh,” he paused. “But I’ve never seen you kiss-,”
“That’s enough!” Alex cupped her hand over Mike’s mouth.

This writer needs no introduction. She's been keeping eyeballs glued to AO3 since the Halcyon days when the show was still good and Alex was still Alex. Behold the origin story of the Sanvers fandom's very own @performativezippers!
Tell us a little about yourself. How did you get started writing fic? Have you written for other fandoms? What are your favorite tropes?   I've talked about this before, but I found fic because of research I was doing in grad school. I was studying a fan advocacy group about queer representation on Glee (bleak times!) but the group folded before I had everything I needed. I had to produce a publishable paper by the end of the semester, and fanfic was the closest pivot I could make to use the research I'd already done. So I started studying Glee fanfic, and went down a rabbit hole of canon vs noncanon representation in fanfic and what that means for queer imaginations, basically (one of my papers was called "Faberry is Love, Pass it On," and another was "Write Your Own God Damned Stories," good fucking times). And then later I was like...you know what, there's a formula to successful fanfics, and now that I know it, could I do it? What if I wrote something as a test? And oops that was in like 2013!
I originally wrote for Rizzoli and Isles, then for Sanvers, now also for Kacy (ncis hawaii).
In terms of tropes, I'm a sucker for a good friends-to-lovers slow burn arc. That's *chef's kiss* when it's done just right. What were your inspirations for this particular story? What was it about this/these ships that grabbed you?
Not to remind people of The Wars, but if you don't mind remembering, back when Sanvers was broken up (I'M SORRY), they said it was because Alex wanted a kid. Now, I thought that was stupid, because lord knows I fucking love Alexandra Danvers with all my heart but she was definitely not a parent of the year candidate in any way. I don't remember how it happened, but to get through our pain, some of us were joking about like, "just give her a dog and dress it up like a baby" and then I was thinking, "hmm, Alex would probably want like, a big ass predator for a child" and then somehow, probably in a fever dream, it became Make Alex's Child a Velociraptor. So it's actually a direct response to canon, which is weird because it's about a dinosaur and also Kara isn't in it, but there you have it.
This ship (Sanvers) grabbed me in a chokehold from day one. I had started watching Supergirl in season one because I like superhero stuff and I like ladies, and I crushed on Alex hard from the beginning. And then Maggie showed up for season two, and it was...fucking magic. I didn't know what was going to happen, I wasn't on the spoiler internet yet, so I watched it with baited breath. So often when you see two women characters with that kind of chemistry, you're screaming at the TV "YOU GUYS, THAT'S GAY" but it never happens. And this time it did. I yelled, "Alex, that's gay," and Maggie said, "Damn Alex, that's pretty gay," and then Alex said, "Fuck, you guys, I'm gay" and then THEY KISSED. I couldn't believe it.
And Alex's coming out speech was the most me-like thing I had ever seen on television, hands down. Has the time spent away from your story changed your outlook or approach to any of the storylines or themes? Have you had any new inspirations or breakthroughs/revelations in the meantime?
I'm a much better writer than I was when I started this fic. I've learned so much, from line-level work to how to write a plot and everything between. I still really love the worldbuilding I did originally, and the character of Gertrude the Dinosaur, and most of the large-scale choices I made for the ship and the tension. What's interesting about this fic is that it's the only thing I ever outlined, and it's the only thing I never finished. Not a coincidence! If I know what's happening, I get both bored and confined, and it doesn't work for me. The trick was to wait so long that I straight up forgot what was in the outline. I literally haven't reopened that word document, and I won't until my draft is finished. Maybe I'll find some gems in there that I want to work in, but I learned my lesson! No outlines! No thinking too far ahead!! That way lies madness (and unfinished fics). Any advice for new or aspiring fic writers?
Write what you want to read. Honestly, that's it. When I'm sad, I read my own stuff. When I want to be delighted, I read my own stuff. It's really easy to get hung up on what other people say or want to see, how many comments or kudos you get (I'm very guilty of this!) but ultimately, write something that, when you want comfort, you can read and go, "oh yeah, that's the good shit right there." Maybe that's fluff, maybe smut, maybe 100k of bloody torture--doesn't matter. Write what you want to read.
(But please, for the love of lesbian jesus, my actual advice is to put the dialogue tag on the same line as the dialogue. Please!) If you were going to promote this fic with a single line, what would it be?
Alex's child doesn't like Maggie, which is difficult because Alex is in love with Maggie and also the child is a velociraptor.  If you’ve already posted some of your work, please provide a link.
You can find the fic here, but I haven't posted the edited versions of the existing chapters yet, so I honestly recommend not diving in until I've posted the first of the new chapters (chapter 10): https://archiveofourown.org/works/13799136/chapters/31724760
"Thanks, Zipps!"

For Her Sake - Chapter 6
Tumblr media
Read For Her Sake on AO3 here!
Alex climbs out of the cab and stares up at the L-Corp building, impressed by the sheer size and elegance of it and extraordinarily anxious about the interview she’s about to be attending with Lena Luthor, the CEO.
Kara has spent the last two days trying to convince her that the job is already hers and that she doesn’t need to panic because Lena has already offered her the position but after what Lena saw of her during their impromptu meeting, there’s no way she can believe she’s capable of anything.
She literally saw Kara carrying her because she was in that much pain and couldn’t walk but then again, she did seem pretty sincere when she was telling her about the accessibility of the buildings and it is a desk job so maybe she is just one of the less ableist people in the city. Well, that or she needs to make it look like she isn’t an ableist.
Kara hasn’t really said much other than that the job is doing paperwork at some downtown branch of L-Corp so she’s not really sure what to expect but she’s not complaining. She’s here to convince Lena that she’s more than capable of doing whatever job Lena wants her to do because she’s been out of action for too long and she needs to start making some money to support her family.
Alex still can’t believe she was so stupid to not have good insurance to cover her medical bills properly in the first place, she was a damn paramedic for god’s sake and she was always hearing and seeing the horror stories of people that couldn’t afford their medical bills, she just never thought that she’d be one of them.
She takes a deep breath as she strolls through the doors, tension sitting heavy on her shoulders as she clutches at her resume that she’s holding to her chest.
The woman at the front desk smiles politely at her when she stumbles over. “Um, hi. I have a meeting with Ms Luthor.”
The polite smile drops quickly. “Ms Luthor doesn’t do meetings on Thursdays, she never has.”
“I arranged it, could you maybe check? My name is Alexandra Danvers, I have a meeting about a job.” Alex stutters her way through the explanation, her heart pounding and her legs aching from the stress and the way she’s nervously rocking on her heels. “Please.”
The woman looks even less amused the more she speaks, her face deadly as her voice becomes much sterner. “We have a recruitment team for a reason, Ms Luthor doesn’t handle job applications, she’s a very busy woman this is a very large company. If you’re after a job you can always look at the vacancies on the L-Corp website. Please leave and have a great day.”
Alex’s jaw drops. What’s she meant to do now? She literally met Lena Luthor and Kara’s been texting her to confirm that she’s meant to be here but somehow she’s getting turned away before she even makes it past the lobby. Maybe this was all some sick joke, the woman Kara was with must have been some con artist.
Her eyes flit across the desk as she tries to find something to say, something that can convince this woman that she really does have a reason to be here but she comes up short.
The woman grows impatient with her. “You can leave the way you came in.”
“Please, can you just check for my name? If it’s not in your systems then I’ll leave with no trouble. I need this, please.” She begs, her resume crumpled around the edges and her watch ticking annoyingly on her wrist, reminding her that she is going to be late.
She’d planned it perfectly so she’d be a couple of minutes early but she hadn’t accounted for this so now she’s going to be late and she’s not going to get the job and Kara is going to have to keep breaking her back to provide for her.
The woman shakes her head, picks up her phone and presses a button, “security to the front desk please.”
Alex steps back, her eyes wide and frightened. “No, no. I’m going, I’m going. You can explain to Ms Luthor why I didn’t show up for our meeting, so have fun with that.”
She starts to storm away, insulted and embarrassed and angry.
“Alex!” Lena’s suave voice calls out as she’s halfway to the door. “Wait!”
Alex freezes where she stands, turning quickly to the voice she recognises from the other day. “Ms Luthor?”
“That’s me. Did you change your mind about the job? You look like you’re leaving.” Her eyebrows are drawn together, her confused expression looking out of place against her maroon three-piece suit and her slick ponytail.
Alex’s fingers pinch at the paper in her hands so tightly that her nails start to shred the paper. “Um, no. I kind of got kicked out. They said you don’t have meetings on Thursdays.”
Lena’s face goes through a few emotions before settling on annoyance. “Who?”
“The woman at the front desk.”
“New hire, it’s her first job and she’s already letting the power get to her head. Unfortunately, you’re not the first person she’s turned away that I have meant to be meeting with, I had to spend three hours on the phone last week apologizing to an investor and let her off with a warning because she’s new but for some reason, she’s got it in her head that I don’t work on Thursdays or something. I don’t know.”
Alex isn’t sure what she’s meant to say to that but it doesn’t matter anyway because Lena is striding her way over to the front desk.
“Hannah, I told you last week that you can’t just turn away people without checking the system, it’s lucky I came down here to wait for Ms Danvers that I caught her as she was leaving or else this would have been the second important meeting I missed because of your inability to do the job you’ve been trained to do. I’ll be speaking to your direct supervisor about this.” Lena keeps her voice steady but the words drip with the harsh sting of disappointment that even makes Alex cringe as she listens in on the conversation.
“Yes, Ms Luthor, I’m sorry. I’ll check the system from now on.”
“Good.” Lena snaps before turning her attention back to Alex. “I’m sorry about that, shall we head up to my office?”
Alex nods and Lena begins to lead them down a hallway and for a second Alex internally groans as she sees how packed the elevators are but then sighs in relief when Lena inserts a key that springs a private elevator to life. “Nifty.”
“Quite.” Lena smiles. “I haven’t heard anyone say that in years.
“It’s Kara’s fault. I used to be cool before I started living with her again, her weird speech rubs off on me and makes me look like a nerd like her. I blame the thousands of musicals and superhero movies she watches.” Alex shrugs.
Turning the conversation to Kara is a safe choice, a topic that can lead them into the more serious stuff later and is working in place of the boring small talk people stick to when they don’t really know someone.
Lena chuckles a little, standing casually with her hands in her pockets. “I can imagine, from what I know about her, she’s certainly a character.”
The elevator doors ding as they reach their floor and Lena takes her into her office, offering her a seat right away. Alex is glad for it because her legs are killing her and somehow she gets the feeling that Lena could sense it.
“Alright then, Alex.” Lena takes a seat in her office chair opposite her. “So, I’ll go over all of the details about the job and then you can decide whether or not you want to take it.”
Alex tilts her head in confusion. “Aren’t you meant to be interviewing me?”
“No, I know what you’ve done, I know your work history and qualifications.”
“Um, how?”
Lena panics as she tries to find a reasonable excuse for why she would know because she can’t tell her that she ran a background check on everyone Kara is close to. “Kara. She told me.”
“Right.” Alex nods, still a little puzzled. “I’m sorry, Ms Luthor—”
“Lena.”
“Lena. How do you and Kara know each other exactly? She’s never really mentioned you and suddenly you’re with her when I called her to get me and you’re offering me a job and I don’t really understand.”
Lena’s gaze rests on her open laptop screen for a moment, buying her a little bit of time to think despite the screen being blank, but Alex doesn’t know that. She hates lying, she always has but for some unexplainable reason, she’s protecting a woman that played a part in an attempted kidnapping.
“We uh, we met at CatCo. I was going to meet with Cat Grant about an upcoming project launch I need press for and while I was waiting for my meeting I got talking to an old friend of mine, one of Kara’s co-workers. She overheard me saying that I need someone for this job and I haven’t had much luck with finding anyone and she offered you up as a possible candidate. We didn’t have time to talk because of my meeting with Cat so I got her number and arranged for a follow-up.
“I picked her up during her lunch break, we were going to grab a bite to eat and talk it over, she’s quite protective of you want wanted to make sure it would be something suitable and she told me about your work history.”
Alex sighs a little, facepalming. “I can’t believe she grilled you about the job, I’m so sorry.”
“Don’t be.” Lena sighs, glad that Alex is taking her words at face value. “It’s a nice thing to see, sisters, looking out for each other.”
“Well, thank you for the opportunity and thank you for driving my sister to me when I called her from the bar.” Alex feels the need to bring it up, to explain or maybe just to address it because it’s an elephant in the room.
Lena leans back into her chair, her shoulders dropping slightly from where she’s used to keeping them tight and strong when she’s in the office. “You don’t have to apologize for that. Honestly, if I was in your position, I probably would have done what you did to help my family. It just makes me want to offer you a job more and no, not out of pity. I can see that you’ve got fire and I need that.”
“You need someone with fire to do…paperwork?”
“Not exactly.” Lena starts. “You would be working at L-Corp’s secondary location in National City and I have found that there have been some not-so-savoury things happening there. I believe that the work and technology there might be being smuggled out and sold by someone there, possibly multiple people. I don’t know anyone there and there’s pretty much no oversight so I need someone who can do their job, resist temptation and report back to me to tell me what’s happening so I can shut it down as safely and as efficiently as possible.”
Alex raises an eyebrow, her lips pursed as she takes in the new information that has just been flung at her. “Oh.”
“This is why I haven’t been able to fill the position, I don’t know what’s going on in there and nobody wants to be on the front lines, which is understandable really.” Lena stands, heading over to her drinks cart and pouring herself a glass of water before pouring a second for Alex, not bothering at all to ask her if she actually wants one. “It’s why I also won’t blame you if you say no. I might be able to find another job somewhere in L-Corp but it could take me some time.”
Alex sucks her cheeks into her mouth, accepting the water Lena offers her without thinking. “I’ll take the job, I kind of hate how much more interested in it I am now that I know I get to be a spy. What is the actual job though? The paperwork part?”
“Oh, that’s mostly just logging the time spent on specific projects and comparing records to check for discrepancies. There’s a lot of undone paperwork there from the microbiology department and for some of it I need someone with a background in biology so they know when the documents have been filled out correctly or when the scientists have just written nonsense to get it done.” Lena feels kind of dumb that she forgot to tell Alex what the actual job is.
“Oh, that sounds kind of interesting,” Alex says, sounding fairly sincere although Lena is aware that it sounds mind-numbingly boring.
Lena doesn’t call her out though. “There’s another catch though.”
“What’s that?”
“I’ll need you to gain more qualifications if you want to progress in the company over time. We can set you up with classes at a local college, tuition handled but it has to be out of office time, is that all right?”
“You’re offering me a job and further education? And you want to pay me? I’m in, no more information needed.” Alex can’t believe her luck. More education will give her so many new opportunities that even if the job is terrible she can stay just so she can get the free college course.
Lena smiles for the first time since she got here and it puts Alex at ease slightly, Lena’s toothy grin is a little bit goofy in a way that it doesn’t match her businesswoman persona at all.
“I am and like I told you the other day, though I’m not sure you’ll remember, we also provide childcare for all of our employees so if you ever need childcare for your niece, that will be covered since you live with your sister and share the address with Lori and Kara.” Lena goes on to explain. “The work days will be mainly Monday to Friday but depending on the scheduling for your college courses, we might have to rejig that so you can fit it all in.”
“Lena, you’re literally my favourite person on this planet right now and if it wouldn’t cost me the job, I would kiss you for how perfect you are.” Alex’s hands have come up to rest atop of her head, her fingers raking through her short hair as she shakes her head in disbelief at the opportunity that has just landed in her lap.
Lena shakes her head and holds her hands out in mock fear. “No, please, anything but that.”
“Well, I suppose I could settle for a handshake.” Alex sticks her hand out to Lena, happy when she takes it in her firm grip and shakes it once.
Alex can barely believe everything that’s happening and just sits there nodding her way through the onboarding process with Lena filling in a couple of forms and taking Alex’s ID to be added into the system.
Alex reads her way through the contract slowly and doesn’t comment on the obscenely high salary for the position, just takes it as a good thing so she doesn’t talk her way out of being paid that much. She does suppose that that kind of money is for the spying too though.
Kara is going to be so happy when she gets home and tells her that she got the job and that she’ll have the information about her new classes in due course. She’s so excited to see her little sister realize that their lives are back on the up and up again.
-
“Kara Danvers,” Alex says as Kara enters the apartment.
“Alex Danvers.” Kara returns, not looking at her because she’s searching for her little mini-me. “And Lori!”
Lori comes running up to her mom from the couch, leaping into her arms as usual. “Hi, Mommy.”
“Hi, baby.” Kara kisses the side of her head and makes her way over to where Alex is leaning against the kitchen counter, her body blocking something from her view. “What are you up to?”
Alex leans out of the way. “I made celebratory cookies because I got the job.”
“You did?” Kara grins, so happy that she starts jumping, Lori giggling as she gets swung around in the process. “Alex, congratulations! I’m so happy for you.”
Alex stops her jumping by wrapping her arms around both Lori and Kara. “Oh, we’re going to alright now. I can feel it in my bones. We can get back on track.”
Kara leans back a moment later, putting Lori down and sending her off with one of the cookies, taking one for herself too. “Alex, I think we’ve finally gotten some of our luck back.”
“Me too. Did you know about the whole spying job thing though that Lena wants me to do?”
“Yeah,” Kara says around the bite of her cookie. “I wanted her to be the one to tell you though since she’s the one who knows all about it. I figured you’d be into the idea of it.”
“I very much am.” Alex chuckles. “The pay for it is bomb too, almost 100 grand to sit in an office, do paperwork and be nosy, what’s not to love?”
Kara’s neck cranes forward. “I’m sorry, did you just say 100 grand?”
“Hell yeah, baby. Just you wait until that first paycheque, I’m going to get us out of this dump and into somewhere really nice, somewhere we can have our own rooms and Lori will be able to get back into her dance lessons and I can get her a keyboard so you can start teaching her piano and we can buy good snacks again. We can breathe again, Kara.”
“We can.” Kara smiles. She might not have succeeded with her original plan to kidnap Lena but she’s never been so grateful to have ailed in her life. It’s got them here. “Shall we invite Lena over for dinner one night as a thank you?”
“I think that’s a great idea.”

GETTING TO KNOW YOU.
respond to the following prompts out of character. then, tag 9 others that you'd like to get to know a little bit better.
ROLEPLAYER NAME: steph
ROLEPLAYER PRONOUNS: she / her
MUSE NAME: alexandra danvers
PREFERRED COMMUNICATION: I don't mind tumblr im, but discord is much better for me.
EXPERIENCE: I've been rping since probably 2005 ( generally on forums ), but I started on tumblr in 2011-ish.
PREFERRED ROLEPLAY TYPE: I love angst. I thrive on angst, hurt / comfort, etc. that being said, I also like a bit of fluff mixed in - alex is a huge romantic and deserves to romance and be romanced, and I won't ever deny her or myself that. smut is probably the thing I'm least likely to write, although I will with the right partner and if it makes sense for the plot. I'm just not good at it.
PET PEEVES & DEALBREAKERS: ' gender bending, ' anon hate, bigotry, vague posting, excessive callouts, and love - bombing / toxic positivity. I've been in the rpc long enough to have no time or patience for any bullshit ( particularly after experiencing SO much of it ), and I won't hesitate to hard block anyone who partakes.
PLOTS OR MEMES: memes are excellent ice - breakers, but I do love a good plot.
LONG REPLIES OR SHORT REPLIES: generally I write 2+ paras and start rambling, but if I'm feeling burned out or incredibly lazy I can write something short - especially if it's a meme reply.
BEST TIME TO WRITE: these days it's the mornings, weekends, or within the first hour or so after I'm done with work. by the time I get off work at 8pm my brain usually just wants to shut off, so I try to work around that.
ARE YOU LIKE YOUR MUSE:⠀in some ways, maybe, but that's not for the dash. c: tagged by: stolen from the dash! tagging: anyone who wants to do this.

Kindred Spirits, Part I
Fandoms: Supergirl, Nikita A/N: Kara Zor-El and Alexandra Udinov both had their lives turned upside down when they were about the same age, so I thought, what if I make them small and sad together? Content Warnings: Nikita-canon-typical mentions of suicidal thoughts and behaviors, drug use, non-consensual sex
Kara isn't supposed to be flying.
The Danvers have impressed upon her the dangers of using her powers, or more specifically of exposing who she is. And she left Alex behind, which means her new sister might rat her out. Kara still doesn't understand that phrase. What exactly have the tiny mammals done to warrant such a negative association with betrayal?
She's so lost in thought that she doesn't realize her super speed has taken her across the continent. The Atlantic coast looms up ahead, and really it should keep her attention, vast as it is, but movement in the corner of her eye diverts her.
A human falling from the roof of a building.
Kara races to catch them and is surprised to find it's a girl around her age. But this girl acts nothing like the other kids at school. She babbles vacantly about butterfly wings and freedom. Occasionally she tries to flap her arms, never noticing that she can only move one, the other trapped between her body and Kara's.
Kara flies her to the roof of the building she fell from. Her landing isn't as graceful as it could have been. The appearance of another girl throws her off-kilter.
No one is supposed to see her fly. Now there's two.
"Sasha, I have butterfly wings," the girl in her arms laughs, stumbling as Kara sets her down. Her legs give way, and suddenly she's sobbing. "And I'm still here."
Sasha stares at Kara. "I am much higher than I thought," she mumbles to herself before going to comfort the other girl.
"Is she okay?" Kara asks.
The obvious answer is no. In fact, the look Sasha gives her is so reminiscent of Alex, a sort of judgmental bewilderment at how Kara doesn't get something they consider so obvious.
Sasha doesn't bother answering. She murmurs some words of comfort to the girl now curled up in her lap. Then she looks up at Kara and asks a question of her own. "Do you know what this place is?"
Kara shakes her head. She could use her super hearing or x-ray vision to figure it out, but instead she waits for an answer.
"It's a brothel," Sasha says, flatly as if all life has been drained from her.
But you're children, Kara wants to say. She ignores the voice in her head--one that sounds suspiciously like Eliza--pointing out the same applies to her.
She doesn't say it, of course, because in truth, there are a hundred things she wants to say, a hundred questions she wants to ask.
She starts simple. "What can I do to help?"
Sasha eyes her skeptically. "You can't." She closes her eyes and shakes her head. "You're not real. A flying girl. How much did I have?"
Kara fidgets. Lingering is dangerous--Sasha doesn't believe she's real, and Kara should keep it that way--but she can't bring herself to leave these girls behind with nothing.
"Let's say that I'm a hallucination with... magical powers," Kara begins. That should do the trick. "If I'm going to use my magic to save you, what am I using my powers on to get you free?"
The girl in Sasha's lap is asleep now. At least Kara thinks she is. She's lying motionless, but Kara can hear her heart beat, so she's not dead. There's still the possibility of a coma or some other dangerous thing, but Sasha doesn't appear concerned. If there were something to be concerned about, she seems like the sort of person that would care enough to act.
Sasha's attention is fully on Kara now. She appears to be warring with herself, as much as she can anyway while under the influence, debating how much information she's willing to divulge. Kara wonders what the harm is in talking to a hallucination, but perhaps Sasha's usual hallucinations hold secrets better left buried and unsaid.
Eventually Sasha sighs. She explains about Vlad and all of his men with guns, the drugs they have all the girls hooked on, and how all the homes they came from are an ocean away. Even if they were to get free of this building, how would they go back?
Kara's grimace deepens with every word, but she finds one glimmer of hope. They have homes to dream of going back to. Yes, they're far away, but Kara will fly each and every one of them back one by one if she has to.
"And where would you go?" Kara asks.
But there's no hope in Sasha's response. Instead, she scoffs. "I don't have anywhere to go," she murmurs. "Everyone I love is dead."
Her words slam into Kara's chest, her whole body really, every sensory organ now vibrating to the resonant frequency of loss and loneliness.
It's easy to be paralyzed by the totality of it. Her family, gone. Her people, gone. Her planet, gone.
Then it occurs to her.
Tonight Sasha will go downstairs to face the demons that haunt her every day, but Kara, she can't go back to Krypton, but when the night is over, she'll go back to the Danvers' house in Midvale. Kara will go back to her new family of Eliza and Alex and Jeremiah. Maybe it doesn't all feel entirely like home yet, but it's starting to, and that's enough.
If she can have that, then Sasha can too.
Kara sits beside Sasha and says, "Maybe you don't now, but you will. I promise I'll do everything I can to make that happen."
Sasha leans her head against Kara's shoulder. She doesn't question why she can touch this hallucination. She merely says, "You're one of the best hallucinations I've ever had."
