The first of November 1954. The first shots of the Algerian War of Independence were fired, resulting after 7 year in the independence of Algeria from 132 years of french colonialism.

Here are some statistics for you :

More than 5.6 million algerian martyrs in 132 years.

More than 1.5 million algerian martyrs in during the revolution.

From 1830 ( the year france colonised Algeria) to 1872, Algeria lost more than 50% of its population.

It is also important to mention algerians had no way to keep count of their martyrs ( specially before 1954 ) , so all the numbers mentioned here are an underestimation ( some sources say over all there were more than 10 million martyrs) since most of the numbers come from colonial france archives and they loved genocide and never admitting it even after more than 60 years later.
