Ali Farka Touré - Ali Farka Touré (1988)
O disco homónimo de Ali Farka Touré é uma espécie de certidão de nascimento do chamado desert blues.

Albumposting time. So today I have Talking Timbuktu by Ali Farka Touré and Ry Cooder. (The album generator credits it to Ali alone, but the Spotify version has "(with Ry Cooder)" appended to the album title and every song, and credits them on the byline of every song AND the album art name drops them on the cover so safe to say they're a relevant part of the creative process here.) Anyway, I enjoyed this even as I understood not one word of it. It's very pretty music. I am deliberately not spouting off more than "it's good, go listen" because beyond whether or not I liked it I don't know shit about this music, or what influenced it or what it influenced. Wikipedia says it's "Malian folk" so I'm assuming it's from Mali, but even that could be wrong because when you click on the genre on Wikipedia it just takes you to "World music."
Anyway, I've derailed a bit. It's good. Go listen. You'll like it. Be nice to yourself and your ears and listen. 4/5
