the last remaining central female horror character, the one who is still alive even after going up against an unrelenting villain like a masked killer.
Laurie Strode - Halloween
Laurie Strode is one of the first and most influential examples of Final Girl. She walks perfectly in the line of being innocent and vulnerable, along with brave, intelligent and ingenious, and proves to be the perfect match for Michael Myers. Being chased and attacked by Michael Myers on several occasions would be a truly distressing experience, but she proves her bravery by avoiding him and attacking when she got the chance.
Sidney Prescott - Scream
Sidney Prescott is surprisingly well-adjusted, considering the traumatic events that followed her throughout her adult life, watching her defend herself from seven different assassins who wore the famous Ghostface costume. Throughout the franchise, Sidney becomes stronger and more adept at fighting the killer and, despite all the death and horror around her, she is still after the fourth film. She is an undefeated survivor and champion, making her an iconic figure in the horror genre and one of the greatest Final Girls ever created.
Ellen Ripley - Alien
Ellen Ripley is not only one of the greatest Final Girls, but is considered one of the best movie characters of all time. As a true Final Girl, Ripley is smart, a leader, bold and a survivor, not only survives, but also manages to rescue her cat and a 12-year-old girl along the way, and that makes her a heroic character as well as a survivor.
Nancy Thompson - A Nightmare on Elm Street
Most Final Girls will do everything possible to escape the antagonist, but are forced into some sort of confrontation near the end of the film. Nancy proves her endurance and goes against the current, actively looking for Freddy in 'A Nightmare on Elm Street'. This confrontation makes her more courageous and cunning than most Final Girls. She was young and scared, but she showed strength and determination, which helped to keep her alive.
Alice Hardy - Friday the 13th
Alice Hardy had to work hard to stay alive and bring Jason's mother, Mrs. Voorhees, down. Alice is a counselor at the Crystal Lake camp, where Jason allegedly drowned 21 years earlier and Mrs. Voorhees is now looking for revenge. Alice finds her fellow advisers brutally murdered one by one, and then finds Mrs. Voorhees herself and wages an impressive fight. and, after a long confrontation, it is Alice who emerges victorious, beheading her aggressor and consolidating herself as one of the greatest Final Girls.
Sally Hardesty - The Texas Chainsaw Massacre
Few Final Girls go through experiences as distressing as Sally in 'The Texas Chainsaw Massacre'. Sally, unlike the Final Girls, is not a fighter. Although she is clearly terrified beyond reason, her strength is in her endurance and resilience. Perhaps the most realistic of the Final Girls. Sally's survival comes at the cost of her sanity. The terrible events she goes through, the fact that she escapes twice and her fierce determination to survive make her one of the best Final Girls.
Julie James - I Know What You Did Last Summer
Although 'I Know What You Did Last Summer' (and the sequel) is a simple movie involving attractive girls running away from a mysterious attacker, it does make good use of the Final Girl character. This is Julie James, who proves to be this character right from the start, suggesting that they call the police after running over the fisherman (good girl). Julie in particular is a relatively weak Final Girl, surviving only when her boyfriend comes to her aid. At the same time she remains an iconic Final Girl.
The best way in my opinion to make a new Friday The 13th, is to unite the majority of the survivors against Jason.
If this fucking lawsuit(fuck you Sean S Cunningham, pay Victor what you fucking owe him) ever ends, this is what I’d love to see as a final sequel.
First, yes this is Part XIII because I consider the remake to be good enough to be in line with canon, just retcon the opening and Jason finding the hockey mask and Jason keeping Whitney alive because she reminds him of his mom.
So my suggestion for a final sequel is this. Tommy Jarvis knows Jason is still out there. He plans to search and bring together everyone who’s ever survived Jason Voorhees. His plan is for everyone to pose as Camp Counselors as Camp Crystal Lake is reopened and lure Jason so they can all kill Jason and end the nightmare once and for all.
Before I continue on the survivors, here is the following things I would love to see in this final Friday The 13th movie
It has to be set at Camp Crystal Lake.
It has to keep the tone from the first 4 movies.
Kane Hodder or Derek Mears must return to play Jason
Pay homage to the game by having Jason hear Pamela’s voice in his head and Jessica Lange should play her
Have Jason’s shack and shrine to Pamela make an appearance
Set it in modern day
Tom Savini does the kill effects, no CGI
Jason has his left eye missing, the axe mark on his mask and chain around his neck, to show the damage and calling cards to Part 3, 4 and 6
Show what the films never established in Jason’s flashbacks. Show Jason’s home life. Show him having a loving mother and father, who just wanted the best for him. You could even show that Elias taught Jason how to hunt and where he got his survival skills from.
Then show Jason’s survival from drowning building his shack, surviving and waiting for his mother but she never shows and we see that it was Jason who did some of the kills in the original and Jason was stalking in some scenes and Jason does watch Pamela die. This would prompt Jason to kill everyone who ever enters Camp Crystal Lake.
Tommy recruits the following
Ginny Field from Part II
Chris Higgins from Part III
His sister Trish and wife Megan Garris
Pam from Part V
Tina Shepard from Part VII
Rennie from Part VIII
Jessica and Steven from Part IX and their grown daughter Stephanie
No one from Jason X since that would be impossible
As for Lori and WIll, Jason killed them in Freddy vs Jason vs Ash
Clay and Whitney Miller from the remake
But someone that everyone never expected to see, is the one person who survived Pamela’s slaughter of Camp Blood. That’s right, it’s Alice Hardy.
Here’s my reasoning. The only reason why Alice was killed off in Part II is Adrienne King dealt with real life stalkers, so I think Alice deserves to be in the final movie, plus it makes no sense whatsoever for Jason to find Jason when he never leaves Crystal Lake. SO yes, retconning Alice’s death is very much needed
There would be teens hired as counselors, so Jason has a body count to be worthy of the title. I’d say at least 13 victims, plus those unlucky survivors who happen to die.
Now I know what you’re thinking. Why are you including Pam since V is considered the black sheep of the franchise and since Jason wasn’t in it? This fan theory that suggests that Jason had a psychic connection with Pamela and Roy, thus having his presence felt throughout the franchise. Also Pam was close with Tommy.
I would say the last standing survivors would be Tommy, Megan, Ginny, Stephanie, Tina and Alice. So in total, the death count would be 21
Tina would hold down Jason with her telekinesis. Alice would jam an ice pick in Jason’s skull. Ginny would hack Jason’s limb with a pickaxe. Megan shoots him in the chest, Trish stabs him in the back, Stephanie would stab Jason in the heart and finally Tommy would decapitate Jason.
“Right before I fall asleep I realize I know who it is: all of them. In the darkness of the house around me I can feel all the monsters creeping through the shadows. Ricky and Billy Walker, sneaking down the stairs and shushing each other. Nick Shipman standing at the front door with an absent grin on his biground moon face. The Hansens fumbling around in the garbage by the back of the house. The Ghost coming in through the garage door. Teddy Volker standing in the light of the refrigerator. The pale Dream King lurking in the shadows of the mirror on the other side of the room.”
Adrienne is Alice Hardy, played by Adrienne King, from Friday the 13th (1980) and Friday the 13th Part 2 (1981)
* Adrienne is black in the book, but is made white again in the fictional movie inspired by her tragedy. Adrienne was generous and kind-hearted. She bought Red Lake Camp and turned it into a recovery place for victim of violence. Adrienne dies at the beginning of the book *
Marylin Torres is mix of Sally Hardesty, played by Marilyn Burns, from Texas Chainsaw Massacre (1972) and Vanita "Stretch" Brock, played by Caroline Williams, from The Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2 (1986)
* Marilyn is a socialite, married with wealthy man whose surname is Blake and is described as a committed vegan, an ardent social climber, and monstrously rich *
Julia Campbell is Sidney Prescott, played by Neve Campbell, from Scream (1996) and Scream 2 (1997)
* Julia is on a wheelchair, is a feminist, married her physiotherapist that steal all her money and divorced from her *
Danielle Shipman is a mix between Laurie Strode (Michael Myers sister, Cynthia Ann), played by Jamie Lee Curtis, and the other Myers sister, Judith, from Halloween (1978) and Halloween II (1981)
* Dani is lesbian, married with a woman named Michelle and owns a horse ranch *
Heather DeLuca is Nancy Thompson, played by Heather Langenkamp, from A Nightmare on Elm Street (1984)
*Heather is a recovering drug addicted *
Lynette Tarkington is Denise, played by Linnea Quigley, from Silent Night, Deadly Night (1984) and Silent Night, Deadly Night Part 2 (1987)
* Lynette is the narrator voice of the story, she is accused by the others of being more of an unfinished victim than a real final girl *
“I’m Julia running through her dorm, I’m Heather running down her high school halls, I’m Marilyn running through the Texas afternoon, I’m Dani running through a hospital, I’m Adrienne running through this camp, this camp where there will always be a girl running and screaming and screaming, and I’m Lynnette, running at last, and he can’t catch me, I’m as fast as all of us put together, I’m faster than Billy Walker, I’m faster than the Ghost, I’m faster than the entire Volker family, I’m the fastest girl in the world.”
Hey! I am interested in creating a discord server dedicating to roleplaying final girls from horror movies! I was thinking some other horror characters would also be great too! There are many choices for the roles and I am open to any final girls, and horror characters! Please Dm me if you're interested!
Things I would change about the Friday The 13th Franchise
I love Friday The 13th series, but there are things I would change about it.
My other Horror changes
Halloween:The Curse Of Michael Myers or how I would’ve ended the Halloween franchise
Friday The 13th
There isn’t anything I would change about the original.
Friday The 13th Part II
Do not kill off Alice. I feel like it just did not work to kill Alice Hardy so quick and so soon. One of the reasons, I can never see Jason ever leaving Crystal Lake, Jason walking the streets of her town, with or without the sack would draw too much attention. And I don't think Jason is developed enough to track her down
Jason’s appearance. Jason would not have hair or sideburns, he would be bald as he was as a child and his head would basically look like his unmasked look of Part 3
Do not kill off Crazy Ralph. I am saving him. for an important reveal.
The Hockey mask would be introduced in Part II. Jason would obtain the Hockey mask from Mark. Mark was said to be an athlete but a accident made him paralyzed. So what I would do is have him be a goalie and hold on to his mask as a keep sake. After Jason kills Mark, Jason dons the mask
Make it clear that Jason killed Paul. In the struggle before Ginny lands the killing blow, Jason kills Paul and as Jason lands the killing blow, Ginny uses the machete to hit him on the shoulder. And we see Jason yanking Ginny out of the window as planned.
Friday The 13th Part III
Remove Chris’ flashback of Jason assaulting Chris. It just felt so out of character and out of place. I don’t like that it’s implied that Jason attempted assault/rape when Jason has disgust for sex. So instead just have Chris recall that she was attacked by Pamela Voorhees and one of the only survivors to escape
Friday The 13th The Final Chapter
Replace Rob Dier with Crazy Ralph and reveal him to be Elias Voorhees, Jason’s father. Rob seeking revenge for Sandra just didn’t work or make sense. She died and it’s been two days since. And how he connected the dots to Jason just didn’t work. Everyone in Crystal Lake believed Jason to be dead. So instead, I would keep Crazy Ralph alive and have Ralph be connected to Jason in a big way
The big reveal is that Ralph is Elias Voorhees. He raised Jason along with his wife Pamela. While Jason was born with disabilities, they loved him with all their heart. Have it mention that Elias also worked at Crystal Lake as the park ranger before the drowning, and that Jason learned some survival skills from his dad such as archery, laying traps for animals etc. When Jason “drowned” Pamela lost it and Elias left in fear of what she would do and pledged himself to warn everyone away from Crystal Lake in fear of what his wife would have done, and the town has labeled him as “Crazy Ralph” and as the years passed, he discovered that his son has survived, so in 1984 he tried to warn everyone away about Jason. That did not work. So he went to Trish and Tommy in the hopes of saving them and in the hopes of reaching his son. We get a moment between father and son. “Jason, father is here. I missed you my boy.” Jason is in shock and awe....he tries to go in to kill Trish, but Elias grabs his son. Jason drops his machete. This gives Tommy the opportunity to stab and “kill” Jason.
Friday The 13th V A New Beginning
As flawed and pointless as it is, I don’t see anything to change about it
Friday The 13th VI Jason Lives
Only thing I would change is keep in the alternate ending of Elias paying the grave keeper to tending to Jason and Pamela’s grave but make it clear that he knows Jason is not in the grave.
Friday The 13th VII New Blood
Keep in as much blood and death as they originally intended, fuck the MPAA
Just end the movie with Tina sending Jason flying and flung him at the bottom of Crystal Lake. Anything is better than Tina’s abusive father getting a heroic moment at the end
Friday The 13th VIII Jason Takes Manhattan
Jason kills everyone aboard the SS Lazarus
Cut out the stupid kid Jason flashes
Make Jason’s face more zombie like and less muddy and slimey
Actually give us what the title suggests. Jason goes to Manhattan and goes on a killing spree in Manhattan. Jason just kills his way across Manhattan, Jason kills in all the major landmarks in Manhattan killing a total of 50 people. By the end of the movie, Jason kills the main characters and swims back to Crystal Lake.
Jason Goes To Hell:The Final Friday
As for Jason Goes To Hell. It is the result of the last movie. Jason’s rampage In Manhattan is what gets the FBI’S attention. The FBI recruit the survivors from the previous movies. Ginny Field, Chris Higgins, Tommy & Trish Jarvis, Pam Roberts, Megan Garris and Tina Shepard and Alice Hardesty. Their plan is the same as the opening of the movie, only it is saved for the end. Tommy and co lure Jason to the FBI hit squad, but the plan fails. Jason kills the FBI agents one by one. So it’s up to the Crystal Lake survivors to finally end Jason once and for all. Jason is weakened from the gunfire and bombing but he still stands. Tina uses her telekinesis to hold Jason off, while everyone takes their turns to hack Jason to pieces. Ginny takes a pickaxe to Jason’s throat, Alice chops his left arm off, Megan shoots him in the chest, Trish stabs him in the back, Pam stabs him in the heart and It ends with Tommy decapitating Jason.
Jason is dead. End credits. Freddy pulls Jason’s mask down to hell, thus setting up Freddy Vs Jason.
Freddy vs Jason
Keep Kane Hodder as Jason
Have Jason’s damage through the years be apparent. The axe scar, the missing left eye and the skeletal decomposition.
Have it be about Alice Johnson, her son Jacob and Maggie learning that Freddy is still alive, while also encountering Jason slaughtering the children of Elm Street. Tommy hears about this, but learns this is the work of Jason. So Tommy goes to Springwood to try and stop Jason. Jason kills his share of the Elm Street kids, this gives Freddy enough power to return. Freddy kills the majority of the Elm Street children, but leaves Alice, Jacob and his daughter Maggie for last. So Tommy, Alice, Jacob and Maggie goes to Crystal Lake in the attempt to wake Jason up and bring Freddy out in the real world. Maggie puts herself to sleep to pull Freddy out in the real world and remember, Freddy has a score to settle with his daughter. Maggie wakes Jason and Freddy traps her in her nightmare of forever watching Freddy kill her own mother, But Maggie gets free and brings Freddy to face Jason.
The fight between Freddy and Jason remains the same. It ends with Maggie decapitating Freddy and Tommy stabbing Jason in the heart. Jason rises from the grave and takes Freddy’s head to his shack and Freddy winks at the end
