Hi! Have you seen the new Mickey Mouse Rebrushed trailer??? Twitter is goin crazy over it and how it’s related to twst 😭 just wanted to hear your thoughts on it
I did spot quite a few parallels with TWST from the Rebrushed trailer! I'm not familiar with Epic Mickey at all, so I'll just be commenting on what I noticed right away. You'll have to excuse my limited knowledge.
Firstly!! This design of Mickey is the exact same as the one we see in TWST. Most noticeable is his white face, which is a fleshy peach color in most modern iterations.
Mickey is reading Alice in Wonderland’s sequel, Through the Looking Glass. Of course, Twisted Wonderland has Wonderland in its title, and even opens with an Alice in Wonderland inspired dorm. Yuu and Mickey also connect via their dreams and through the mirror shared in their rooms.
The theme of dreams is very present and upfront here; Mickey wakes up from sleeping and then creeps to his mirror, which appears to be a portal into another world. Hmm... dreams, mirrors, and traveling to other worlds, now what does that remind you of?
You'll also notice that Mickey's room is the exact same as Yuu's room in Ramshackle, right down to the "inverted" room that appears when Mickey passes through the mirror. Everything up until this point is very similar to what is depicted in the 1936 short, Thru the Mirror.
Next, Mickey spies on a wizard carefully using a magic paintbrush over what seems to be a diorama of a bunch of buildings on a plot of land. When the wizard leaves, Mickey fiddles with the paintbrush, causes a mess, and calls forth some kind of black ink monster with green light coming from within it.
This seems to be a very close parallel to Overblots, particularly since the most recent OB has a signature neon green color. If we really are to connect Epic Mickey to TWST, this scene also seems to allude that Yuu, Mickey, and/or the "wizard" have parts to play in bringing these Overblots to life. And who do we know that is a powerful wizard that is aware of the corrupting power of blot and runs a large chunk of land... say, a campus? Crowley. This goes hand-in-hand with the theory that Crowley is intentionally allowing these OBs to happen or is even puppeteering his students into OBing.
I find this visual in particular to be very ominous; again, we have the colors that match a certain OB dragon fae but also the map itself reminds me of Twisted Wonderland's and the eerie visual of Malleus's thorns digging into Sage's Island and aiming to go way beyond it.
Anyway, the ink monster is temporarily contained while Mickey returns to his own world. We then get a montage of various Mickey media passing by, as well as a lot of imagery that would imply the passage of time (clocks, the date on the calendar changing, etc.).
So... what? Is that implying not only parallel worlds, but also a time skip? Or maybe a time... loop? Like time loop theory???
The ink monster somehow eventually escapes and makes it to Mickey's world, with the blot dripping from the ceiling waking Mickey up from his sleep. It drags Mickey away into a hole drenched in ink.
Kind of foreboding when you realize Yuu has also had prophetic dreams... Not of OBs, but of the events leading up to them. And being dragged away into an inky... opening? Like an... abyss? Like book 7, Ruler of the ABYSS?
That's how the trailer concludes!! Gotta say, there's definitely a lot of shared elements between this and TWST.
If I recall correctly, Epic Mickey was a game that existed on the Wii waaay before TWST. It even has largely the same cinematic trailer (just with older graphics), so to me it feels like TWST probably took inspiration from Epic Mickey rather than the other way around. There are definitely too many parallels for it to be a coincidence. If that's the case, then we can probably pull some hints for what awaits us in the rest of book 7 from these cinematics. (This is a video comparing the two side-by-side if you think that might be of use!)

So here's the stuff.
Only quite recently I've become a big fan of American Mcgee's Alice games. And I feel like its because I liked Jervis, I think its pretty obvious why he's so associated with the game by proxy, there's a lot to dive into about a Wonderland from... who is basically a puppetmaster's perspective. I used to be really scared of that game whenever I saw ads for it as a kid btw, but now I am so extremely fascinated by it. Even despite my fear of porcelain dolls lmao-
I tried to even change the way I draw his face to match the game's art style, I tried my best lol-- but basically it was fun using Tetch to obsess about how much I love this game's style. More games need purely aesthetic magical girl style clothing changes for every world theme.

the queen of hearts game was so perfect as a queen of hearts game because she didnt just manipulate arisu and usagi, she was manipulating us, the viewers as well. we dont know the end while we're watching. the virtual reality game theory seems acutely believable, and every part of the manipulation seems like the reality, especially the mental hospital scene. even the audience is genuinely enraptured and start believing that it was all in arisus head until usagi breaks the illusion. a true queen of hearts game with perfect betrayal and emotional turmoil

So after watching the OP a few times, I think I may have a hunch about this mysterious girl who I think we’re all going to be calling ‘Alice’...
First, she’s repeatedly juxtaposed with Ruby throughout the OP
We also see her silouette running at the front of Weiss, Blake and Yang while Ruby trails behind.
We even see her apparently turn into Ruby at one point.
We also see her framed in a mirror while Ruby is falling.
And the end of the OP shows Crescent Rose washing up on the beach behind her.
What if this ‘Alice’ is looking to somehow... replace Ruby in some shape or form? Perhaps as a means of getting out of the ever after?
Though admittedly, the fact that she’s also juxtaposed with Neo could be a hint of something else entirely.

Cake playing with the Magical Fruits in mostly just about how she’s obviously subconsciously missing her Stretching Powers. But honestly, playing with this kinda tropes is always going to make me think about ‘Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland”
Which is kinda funny, I guess. 'Cause ‘Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland’ has a blonde girl with a pet cat.
And the girl leaves the cat behind to go chase a Portal to a Magical World
but also still references the cat constantly.
("Hello, my name is Alice, I'm 11 years old and I am Physically Incapable of Not Talking About My Cat")
And here we have a cat with a blonde girl
who leaves the girl behind to go chase a Portal to a Magical World
but also still references the girl constantly.
(Okay, yeah. The girl also gets to go to the Magical World at the end of the episode but you get what I mean)

fontaine IMMEDIATELY having alice in wonderland connections + literally an entire quest inspired by it… i’m losing my MIND
i really need to reread the dialogue bc… it was obviously very confusing (Wonderland-ese if you will) but i am praying i can find some Hexenzirkel ties
I was able to find one pretty flimsy Rhinedottir connection but i’m still SO excited about it.
Mary-Ann tells Ann, the small oceanid, that she must find and experience the beauty of the world. This reminded me of Rhinedottir telling Albedo to find the “truth of this world” and then leaving him.
Ann was a piece of living water that came off of Mary-Ann and formed its own consciousness. This again reminds me of how Rhinedottir had to “blow life” into Albedo, compared to glass blowing. It’s not a 1:1 but it’s similar enough that i’m a lil suspicious
(this scene is also clearly referencing “Through The Looking Glass” and i love that so much)
especially when you consider all of the beastly rifts… which look like LITERAL hexing circles and are usually populated by rifthounds… which were made by Rhine.
I likely need to finish the Melusine quest since i believe this rifts happen above their domain, but i’m praying that i’m right!!! it seems so obvious !!!

Hello! Sorry to bother, I had this question in my mind for quite a while and it's starting to bug me a bit. I love Heartlabyul but there's things that I seem to have missed (or maybe the game never talked about them). Did they ever talk about Alice and/or the Mad Hatter? And also, who is the King of Hearts that Riddle talks about?
The main story scarcely has the NRC cast talking about Disney characters beyond the Great Seven. (The only ones I can recall off the top of my head are when the group visits the Atlantica Museum at the end of book 3 and when Idia mentions a hero diving into Tartarus to save his love; there are obvious references to King Triton, Sebastian, Hercules, Megara, etc.)
Most mentions of Disney characters are relegated to additional content (vignettes, events, and/or voice lines). The Platinum Jacket line vignettes in particular contain comments on various Disney characters, both heroes and villains. This is true of instances on which Heartslabyul talks about Alice in Wonderland characters besides the Queen of Hearts.
Cater comments on Alice’s plight in his Platinum Jacket vignettes; he says that she seems troublesome or like the type to not look before she leaps. In White Rabbit Fest, (an event yet to come out in EN), Deuce and co. go to a museum where they experience many of the same things that Alice did; they even make specific reference to a lost girl (Alice). Trey’s Platinum Jacket mentions the Cheshire Cat, Ace comments on the oysters the Walrus ate in his own Platinum Jacket, Deuce tells the story of the White Rabbit for his hometown event, etc. These instances are scattered around and take some digging to find if you’re seeking a reference to a certain Disney character.
The King of Hearts is brought up via a voice line. More specifically, Riddle’s Suitor Suit card. He says that the Queen of Hearts had a happy marriage with her husband and that he wishes she would share the secret of a happy marriage with his own parents, which implies the Mr. and Mrs. Rosehearts have marital issues. If you’ve seen the Disney film, the King of Hearts is depicted as a small and timid man who cannot stand up to his wife, the Queen of Hearts. In the original book, the King is more juvenile and reckless than timid. When Riddle talks about the King of Hearts, he is referring to that.
