it’s very messy but here’s my take on human!bill cipher (who’s really more humanoid than human but shh i’m just gonna say human to make things easier), i’ve been thinking about this ever since i saw @alicechrosnyart’s take on human!bill, i was very inspired by it, and my motivation is pretty low, so here’s a very messy doodle of the man :)

details/notes about the design are below the cut (i explain a lot of design choices there, so if you want to know why i did something the way i did you’ll probably find your answer there!

first things first— the face mask was not meant to be a reference of any sort to anything happening in the world today, i just thought it would fit because in bill’s regular form he doesn’t have any sort of visible mouth. he has a mouth (and nose), he just doesn’t show it often.

i kind of flaked out on his hair and made it boring because i could not for the life of me figure out what i wanted to do with it that wasn’t something that had been done thousands of times, i just didn’t like the spiked look for my version of him hfhrghfgdh

he only has one eye because again, i really didn’t want to fall into the trap of doing the exact same thing as so many people have and do an eyepatch or monocle or hair covering one eye or whatever else people do, so yeah sue me for being boring at least i’m not doing the same thing as all of those people

his hat, tie, gloves, and pants are all supposed to be the same color, i just wanted those parts of the design to be more readable, and that wouldn’t be possible if all of these things were completely colored in

i wanted to make his body triangle-shaped, not sure if it worked, but if it did, cool

his skin tone is up to interpretation, but for my version of him, i imagine him having relatively dark skin

smaller details like his eyeshadow and the bite out of his ear are just things i added because i thought they were fun and added character, nothing else to it

couldn’t really think of anything else, if you have any further questions that none of the above can answer, i would be happy to answer them !

edit: i forgot to say this when i first posted this, but he looks taller than he actually is in this sketch, i imagine my version being pretty short in his normal form

Two revenges I did today!

The first revenge goes out to @alicechrosnyart and depicts the dragon version of her character Mal looking out over the frosty mountains! It was drawn in procreate The second revenge goes out to @frostedmonster and depicts an icon of their character Macey! Drawing horses is certainly challenging, especially because at first I tried to draw her with braids but to preserve my sanity and to have a chance at finishing this today I decided to go with just the loose hair lol. Oh and this one was drawn in clip studio paint!

@alicechrosnyart‘s art is frequently a joy, being just plain cartoony goodness while still being professional quality. Her style also manages to fit serious topics if needed. Her Weather Friends, in particular, can easily make an excellent broadcast cartoon! I like the relatively simple yet distinctive designs of them, plus I appreciate the animal motifs eac have. (Sunny is a cat. Nighty is literally a Moon Rabbit. Stormy is a frog. Snowy is a sheep. Rainy is a mantis. Windy is a bird of some sort.) Most importantly, they embody the feeling of thei respective weather or celestial body, making a neat variety.

Once again, I actually wanted to pixel all of them in one season of ArtFight. While this may have been foolish due to the difficulty of pixelling the Planet Dragons, I had a good idea of how many of these sprites I coul do and ecided that I coul do all of these. Thankfully, their simple designs and palettes made pixelling these much mo relaxing.

Once again, I am grouping all of my attacks, though I can actually pu them in one pos this time around!

Sunny

Sunny is one of my two favourite Weather Friends because he is more than a huggably thick and fluffy creature. He is also energetic and cheerful without necessarily being overbearing. I also like how the cat motif is only apparent once you look hard: making Sunny unique. My favourit elements are the round head (which fit how Sunny is a round star) and the triangles above his head.

I was really grateful tha the Weather Friends had simple palettes and relatively simple designs, making pixelling them very fun and easy. Ironically, I did have difficulty getting the round head and especially the triangles right, resulting in compromises. A more obvious mistake is me missing the cream underbelly initially due to the lighting on e of Sunny’s reference pictures, but I did fix the underbelly mostly. Otherwise, all that practise wi the Weather Dragons really paid! Another thing of which I am grateful is how the pixel precision combined wi the low resolution meant hat I could calculate how big each leg should be and where precisely could I plac each leg.

If I were to change this, I might change the size of the tail tip and maybe t head, though I woul definitely make the lighter-coloured underbelly more obvious.

Nighty

In terms of designs, Nighty impresses me the most. Aside from being a (coincidental?) reference to the ‘Rabbit on the Moon’, Nighty has this nimble look. The crescent motifs overlaid over spherical forms match bo the popular image of a crescent moon and the spherical shape the actual Moon has. I like how the obscured part of the spheres are sky-themed.

I similarly had plenty o fun pixelling her, especially her ears. However, once again, I ha difficulty working o the round head and tail. Th eye also gave me some trouble, too. However, the shading effects, especially the obscured parts, look impressive to me. I also like hor her skinny figure suits forms that are one pixel wide.

If I were to change this, I might do something abou that neck and tail.

Stormy

He is my other favourite. I like characters who are tough outside but soft inside; in this case, he is a kind grump. I also like his fat body shape and his mane, the later which I would imagine would be constantly moving in animation. He also looks moderately monstrous, whic has him look cool to me, though the monstrous look actually blends nicely wi the cute æsthehtic the Weather Friends have. Finally, a tuxedo, monocle, and top hat (which is actually a Dr Jekyll costume?) especially suit him not only because of his palette but als of how serious he normally is.

While working on thi sprite, I eventually noticed that his natural greys already had a neat effect by themselves, which led me t omi the shading. I had a lot of difficulty wi the leg, though I like what I did wi the mane, especially the swirl texture and the pompadour shape I gave the mane.

If I were to change this, I might add shading after all.

Snowy

Snowy being a sheep is fitting, what wi the white wool sheep have. I also like how she is also a tough and serious yet kind girl.

I had quite a bit o fun shading her with blues, though I think I went overboard. I also had some trouble making the horns look good, especially nice those swirls did not look right at such a low resolution. I also noticed just now that her claws are supposed to be blue; her claws just appeared grey in one of her eference pictures. More positively, I liked oing her puffy chest area, even if that needed adjustment, first.

If I were to change this, I would probably ease up on the shading or move the shading in other places on the sprite. I also woul definitely fix the colour of her claws. Another fix would be making the tail mass mor even.

Rainy

Rainy... has me feel bittersweet. While I like the simple, watery design wi that subtle mantis influence and how her melancholy fits how rai normally feels, she is, in th end, a sad Friend, even if not all of her tears are of sadness. I end up feeling sad... wit her, if that make sense? In fact, she would probably be the Weather Friend I would end up accompanying the most because we are both very emotional and wan to comfort others.

Despite Rainy being sad, I enjoyed playing wi the shading here, though I ha difficulty getting the drop head and face right. The fac that she has mantis feet was honestly a surprise. Otherwise, th is one of my favourite sprites.

If I were to change this, I might do something abou those mantis feet and the lower-lef tip of the tail.

Windy

I feel that Windy is a specific kind of bird, but her design seems to be a hybrid of some sort. I like her crest, her tail, and especially her legless body, making not only a distinctive and appealing design but also fitting how she is not really an imal, bu an embodiment of weather.

Windy was honestly fun. I actually liked pixelling her legles shape, not only because that made pixelling easier but also because that let me have more fun with posing. The beak looks good to me, too. However, I notice that lighting and texturing wings is a weakness of mine when pixelling a this resolution, ye thos effects on the rest of Windy look neat. Getting the crest right was tricky, though.

If I were to change this, I would very likely change the texturing and lighting on the wings.
