So I have been meaning to take some photos of Alice with my miniature tea cups and stuff, and with my recent influx of kid Disney dolls I figured it would be nice to have them all together. Fun fact, the tea set with playing cards motifs is something I've had in my collection since my mid-teens and it's nice being able to finally have them for a photo. The only tea pot I have is actually from a Madeline Hatter Purse with the handle removed but since my only other tea cups have a white and gold motif they look nice together. I wouldn't call this a complete repaint since I actually liked everything, including the skin tone match but not the eye paint. Unfortunately, everything, including skin tone, is painted on, not the bare plastic itself. So I couldn't just wipe off the eye paint and be done, even though I think the misaligned paint was badly done. So instead I tried to colour match the skin tone and instead painted over the eyes, making sure I was only covering the paint in a way that would look like eyeshadow. Otherwise this was a relatively simple face up especially since the eyebrows and eyes were sculpted on so I didn't have to worry about symmetry or wonky eyes. So my Miniso Blind box Queen of Hearts figure came in the mail today so I went about to making it work for my Mimi Bobeck body. I sawed out the head under the collar as it was a tough sort of vinyl, and also I found out the collar made up a significant amount of the head so I couldn't pry it off without needing to rebuild the area. Turns out after sawing off the head under the collar, it was a layer of solid vinyl which was easy enough to carve out a crude hole using plastic nips. The actual head portion is hollow so you just need to make it through the collar vinyl. I just eyeballed it to be smaller than the Mimi Bobeck neck knob. Since the head was vinyl I just boiled the head in a cup of water until it was soft enough to slip onto the neck. Even though I cut the hole bigger than the neck post (not knob), the thickness of the vinyl keeps the the head on in place. I actually really loved the Alice in Wonderland doll from the Disney Store on a doll basis, and part of me was sad to have her repainted so I figured I'd buy one to keep as is but redressed so it wouldn't have the need to be "movie accurate". I really do think she's a pretty doll, even if her eyes are too dark to be the animated character or her brows are a bit too modern. I do think a lot of people are pressured to either customise dolls entirely or to keep dolls as is to be seen as legitimate collectors but sometimes it's nice to just redress and restyle a doll. I ended up redressing her in an Aliexpress outfit meant for Blythes along with some crappy thigh high socks I sewed myself. Alice really is one of the grandmothers of lolita fashion so it's fun having her wear a lolita style outfit.
